Hei! I just found your Oslo/Norway guides for fanfics writers, thanks for that. I’m in no business of writing ff since I have no imagination at all, butthere’s one Norwegian thing I have been thinking a lot. Do kids and teens get food in school for free and if, what kind of food it is? In Skam we see characters eating e.g. bulle and waffles and drinking chokomjelk, is that a snack that’s eaten in addition to school lunch or do teens buy some snacks if they don’t like the lunch option?

It’s been years and years since I was in lukio (Finnish version of your VGS) so things have probably changed a lot, but I’m just curious if the school lunch differs a lot between Finland and Norway.

Hi! Some schools offer free hot lunch, but far from all. It's a very new thing in Norway, a packed lunch is the norm here, but there's experimenting going on to see if offering free food will improve attendance and learning. That project offers healthy one pot dishes like chili sin carne.

I'm pretty sure the majority of upper secondary schools have cafeterias that sell things like yoghurt, open sandwiches, salads, fruit, juices, tea/coffee and chocolate milk. Some sell hot food too, others have some frozen stuff like pizza buns you can heat for yourself in the cafeteria's microwave oven. They also sell buns and waffles and such, which some students may prefer instead of proper food (tsk tsk) but that's considered snacks. You don't have to buy anything to eat in the cafeterias, you can eat your packed lunch there if you bring one. When I was in school we'd often buy rolls and cheese in a grocery store nearby, I suppose that counts as a packed lunch.

In some schools fruit is free. Others offer free cereals and yoghurt at breakfast time. So it varies what's on offer, and it doesn't look like the government will make all schools offer the same free food anytime soon.

Ok I hope you are ready for this mammoth. I am going to start off by telling you some cafes to visit. Eckers in Frogner is a really pretty and does nice coffee and food. Pust, which is just across the road from Majorstuen station is another cafe with a very cool atmsophere. As I have already said before if you are looking for a chain coffee shop I would pick Kaffebrenneriet. My favorite is the one by Nationaltheatre but you will probably want to go to the one from Skam which is on Skovveien. They do the best reasonably priced coffee and you must try the pastries. It is good to know you are staying in Gamle because then I will recommend a tiny brunch place called Kumi. It has the most beautiful interior and vegetarian food but I warn you it is on the pricier side. You absolutley must go to Hotel Bristol to get hot chocolate. Inside is absolutely breathtaking and has major dark academia vibes. This is quite popular so I would recommend booking a table in advance on their website. Do not let them fool you into getting two pots of hot chocolate, one is enough for two people to have two cups each. For places to eat, I would first recommend a burrito bar called Freddy Fuego. They have a vegetarian option and lots of options which are all delicious and not badly priced. For pizza go to Villa Paradiso, there are a few of these over the city. If you want a more general Italian restaurant I would try Olivia by the fjord. Great food but more expensive. If you like Japanese food I can tell you about a tiny, tucked away restaurant called Izakaya on Olavs Plass. If you just want to buy snacks or something to cook at your airbnb I can tell you again the cheapest supermarket by far is Kiwi. Now for the thrift shops! Oslo has some amazing thrift stores and Grünnerløkka is the place you want to be. You absoltuely have to go to Robot! This is the coolest thrift shop of all in my opinion. Lots of good finds and a huge shelf of second hand sunglasses. There's also Velouria and Good Vibes Vintage. UFF is worth a look in Løkka but they have a much bigger, I think better store across the city in Prinsens Gate you should check out. The best budget friendly thrift store is Fretex. They are linked with the Salvation Army and you can get items as low as 50nok, which I looked up is about the equivilant of 7 aussie dollars. Next I've got a list of other things nice things you might like to do if you have the time. I saw you like art from your blog so I thought I'd recommend you some galleries. I mentioned before the National Gallery and Museum are free on Thursdays and the Munch Museum is free on Wednesdays from 6pm to 9pm. Astrup Fearnley is the only one without a free day. But I also have some smaller, lesser known galleries for you. It is worth checking out whether Peder Lund, Galleri Riis or Galleri Golsa have any exhibitons on while you are there. They are all free and very small, only a few rooms each. Galleri Golsa seems confusing to find but it is opposite a gym carpark and the door is heavy to open but I promise you're in the right place. They are well worth visitng. I would also recommend visiting a huge lake outside the city called Songsvaan. I know it looks far on a map but it only takes 20 minutes on one line and is still within your zone 1 ticket. There is something so magical about walking round the lake on a winter evening with it frozen over and snow covering the trees. They even have a little cafe. You will notice the increase in cold so you definitely want to your wool innersoles and tights under trousers here, I would recommend that if you venture out of the city anywhere or when it gets dark. If you like hiking and it's not too icy walk up Grefsenkollen and you will get a view over the entire city. In my opinion this is better than the view from Holmenkollen. Since you are staying in Gamle I will also recommend visiting Ekerberg woods which is a ten minute tram ride away and has a scultpure park and also the Botanisk Hage at Tøyen. It is small but pretty inside and guaranteed to be warm. I hope this is a help to you!

1.Current TV shows and/or movies? Currently watching Brooklyn 99 with my S.O., and Crash Landing on You by myself.

2. Overall favorite TV shows and/or movies? Friends will always have a spot in my heart, as will Sex Education, Doctor Who, SKAM and How I Met Your Mother. Fav movies include the Lord of the Rings-trilogy, Pride and Prejudice (2005), Love Actually, and several Studio Ghibli movies.

3.A show and/or movie you can't stand? Eeeh, I dunno? I'm not that into reality (unless it's drag race), or the kind of humor that relies too heavily on awkwardness.

4.Current book? Juuust started the first Crescent City book! Favorite book? I felt like I changed as a person when I read Patti Smith's Just Kids. It's truly amazing and thought-provoking, and reads like poetry. I'm also very fond of everything Haruki Murakami writes, and the fantastical and surreal elements he brings into everything.

5. A book you can't stand? Nothing really comes to mind, I'm not really a big hater. But I was disappointed when I read Fourth Wing, if that counts.

6.Favorite genre of music/ artists? The music I listen to changes all the time depending on my mood. I might listen to pop, folk, rock and classical music in the same day, or have periods where I almost exclusively listen to a certain thing. Right now I'm very into kpop, and especially Ateez, Stray Kids and Seventeen, but Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are also heavily on repeat. Among my favorite artists are Taylor Swift, boygenius, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac and many, many others. Why choose??

7.Favorite tropes? I kinda already answered this, but enemies to lovers and forced proximity are golden. I also love when the black cat / dark and mysterious characters turn soft around their lovers. Delicious! 👌

8.Tropes you hate? Not so fond of miscommunication, and I despise pregnancy/child tropes. I also don't care too much for second chances/right person wrong time.

9.What's your favorite and least favorite smell? I love the smell of lilacs in spring, of grapefruit, salty ocean air, sun-kissed skin, rain on hot earth, and food with lots of garlic and spices. I don't like the smell of hotdogs? Very randomly specific, I know, but I can't think of anything else besides like garbage or rot.

10.If you were a pizza topping, what would you be? Oh, I'd for sure be cheese! Maybe an aged cheddar or parmesan, or a salty blue cheese or feta. Something with a little kick!

"Vem åker ens till Kramfors?"

Lukas ska motvilligt tillbringa sommaren hos sin morfar i Ångermanland som han inte känner. Allt han hört är att morfar är en riktig surgubbe.

Vilket visar sig stämma. Morfar äter inte pizza, pratar inte med sina grannar och bor i ett pyttelitet hus trots att han har ett annat mycket större. Dessutom verkar han inte det minsta glad för att Lukas har kommit.

Lukas överväger starkt att åka till bästa vännen Simon på västkusten. Om det inte vore för Ellie, granntjejen, som av någon anledning bestämt sig för att hon och Lukas ska bli kompisar. Trots att varken morfar eller Ellies mamma tycker det.

Varför är alla i byn arga på varandra? Vad är det för hemlighet som morfar bär på? Det är en gåta som Ellie och Lukas bara måste lösa. Även om det innebär att gamla sår rivs upp.

Surast i Ångermanland är en varm berättelse om kärlek och relationer i flera generationer, om ett sommarlov där pirrig förälskelse spirar och mörka familjehemligheter kommer upp till ytan.

9) What's your all time favourite movie/tv show?

So...

The Italian version of Skam is truly my comfort show, it started coming out during my last year of high school and it really helped me when I was struggling. Plus, some of my favourite memories are related to this show, just me laying in my bed with one of the most important people in my life at that time, watching it and laughing. We used to call those nights "pizza and skam" and I still smile whenever I think about that.

14) Something you wish you were better at?

Oh my God

I wish I was better at communicating my feelings. Ever since I was a child I was taught that whatever I felt was not relevant and even now I can't find the strength to open up because in my head no one really cares.

Yes, I have been in love.

I believe there lots of ways to get our hearts broken, and I know you probably asked this question with a romantic background in your mind, I'm not avoiding that, I swear.

I was heartbroken when I realized that my family was always going to love me only if I accomplished something.

It's a 4 season show that focuses on a group of friends and their school and private lives and it's been remade in like 6 other countries and it's so good, especially it's editing style makes it so unique

They probably eat pizza at some point but I can't tell you for sure lol

didn't think the day would come when i would be waxing poetry about skamfr but... something about the way that lola carries boxes around her girlfriend's new apartment where she and all of their friends are helping maya move into.. something about the way jo holds that pizza box over her head and she reaches up and jo pulls it away and they all laugh... something about this reminds you that she's just a child and now she's finally allowed to be just that. she's finally getting rid of these constant thoughts that always made her feel like a failure in everyone else's eyes, she isn't constantly burdened with trying to hold it all together and taking care of her sister and father, she's finally healing from all of her trauma and recovering from her addiction problems. she's just a child who's sitting in the living room of her girlfriend's apartment with all of their friends where she is surrounded with warmth and love and laughter.
