honestly i think the only reason people say zim is an adult is from the fandom. He easily could be read as a kid,teen, or just an ageless alien but not really an adult? There's multiple irkens that are already easy to read as adults (the tallests, Sizzlor, irken navigators ect), they could've done that with zim and just have him be a teacher at school but they didn't. They could've done the resident alien thing (shout out to those who have seen it) but didn't.

I mean, most iz stuff point to him more likely being a kid anyway. The crew making zadr jokes, the show bible calling him a kid, zim wanting to date tak before knowing she was irken, ect. Also we forget jhonen HATES zadr, ofc he would say he was an adult just to stop shippers.

Also bringing up him possibly being an autistic adult just to beat down those who think he's a kid rubs me the wrong way. (saying all this as someone who doesn't ship in the fandom + being diagnosed)

It’s time for an unpopular opinion!

I actually don’t think Sizz-Lorr is a bad guy. Yes, he was very abusive towards Zim and while that wasn’t right, I can kind of understand.

I love Zim with every beat of my heart but he did nearly destroy Irk and accidentally killed two Tallest, so it makes sense that his people would be upset with him.

Hell, Sizz-Lorr even outright says “You’re here as punishment for almost annihilating our civilization!”

Since being sent to Foodcourtia is a punishment, it’s probably gonna suck to work there.

Also I’m pretty sure Zim is considered to be an insanely dangerous criminal at this point.

So you kind of have to be rough with someone who nearly committed mass genocide, even if it was by accident.

Despite being considered a dangerous criminal, it seemed like Sizz-Lorr did give Zim a break at one point.

I mean he was seen watching TV and that’s how he escaped and ran off to crash The Great Assigning.

So I think Sizz-Lorr has some morals.

He also gives his actual employees breaks and it seems that they can leave the restaurant whenever Sizz-Lorr says it’s ok.

I think Sizz-Lorr kind of understands what it feels like to be constantly abused and treated like shit since he’s probably had to endure that sort of crap for as long as he worked at Foodcourtia.

So I think part of him feels sorry for his actual employees and he tries to treat them as well as he’s allowed to.

Also, I think food service drones are programmed to be somewhat polite to strangers since they could be potential customers.

Hell, he even apologized for smashing a hole through the Skool ceiling when he came to get Zim.

Also, as someone who worked in food service, let me tell you, customers are fucking assholes sometimes! I salute all food service workers, good god!

If I had to be trapped for 20 years on a planet full of angry customers berating me with no help I’d be pissed too!

So I kind of understand why he was tormenting Zim so much.

 Like, imagine being left to suffer by the most dangerous criminal on the planet.

Still though, I don’t think that Sizz-Lorr is a bad guy for what he did.

If anything he was just doing his job and getting revenge on the guy who left him to rot.

I actually have some interesting ideas for him and I’m more than willing to write for him!

God I feel like Sizzlor doesn’t get enough love got any headcanons chief?

I feel like Sizz-lorr has a lot of potential, let’s see what I can do~

• If he wasn’t Irken I feel like he would’ve ended up with a wife who was always pregnant and a shit load of kids. He has a very gruff dad vibe to me.

• Spending so much time away from the Empire surrounded by other species and cultures really put into perspective for him of how fucked up the Irken race is. But he’s still loyal at heart, even though under the right circumstances he’ll find himself lamenting the ways of his people.

• Sizz-lorr is big and scary looking on the outside, but he is absolutely one of those people you can count on for help — even if he complains about it the whole time.

• Not that he would probably ever admit this out loud, but he realized later on that he never actually hated Zim, he just felt bad that circumstances never seemed to play out in his favor and he ended up being a casualty. Twice.

• He might be a hard ass, but he takes care of his employees and makes sure they have food and housing. Just because the Empire at large might overlook them doesn’t mean he has to.

• I like to think that eventually he does well enough to open up his own upscale restaurant and hire mistreated Irkens and individuals who’ve had their lives torn apart by the Empire, regardless of their background or criminal record.

I agree with you there, but just know the show itself was designed to look gross and gritty, it wasn't just fat characters in the show he would draw very gross-like, so he doesn't have any bias against fat people. Besides that, you're right the trope is over-done, but thankfully there are fat characters in the show that are the opposite of that stereotype like Skoodge and Sizzlor. They look overweight but does that stop them from being able to do things like conquer planets or be the manager and frycook of a fast food restaurant he owns? It doesn't look like it, in fact it doesn't make them look weak, slow, and dumb. It doesn't effect skoodge's character and Sizzlors body size sets him out to be more tough, strong and menacing. A guy you don't wanna mess with, and that is exactly who he is.

disappointing fat jokes in invader zim

don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited for the new iz movie, but honestly, I was tired of it back when i was a little fat kid, and I’m still tired of it now as an adult (still fat) fan:

I REALLY don’t like all the ‘fat dumb ppl’ bg characters, who look disgusting and are ignorant/bullies/gross. It’s a mean, uncreative joke, and I’m VERY disappointed they’re keeping it in the movie. I get that it’s very ‘of it’s time’, or whatever… but…

come on.

like!… there are better ways to come off as gross without making it be about how fat the person is, just look at Junji Ito’s work, he can make a CAT look gross, without resorting to a fat joke.

A lot of humor in some of the episodes really like, rely on how ‘disgusting’ and ‘stupid’ all these fat people are.

regardless i’m still excited, but just kinda tired of ‘fat and disgusting’ being a major ‘joke’ in the universe of iz/when it comes to jhonen’s works…

What’s the treasure planet au?

The full summary of it is here but long story short, Zim and Dib meet in space and after some time trapped on a planet where they have to work together become a couple. Zim gets pregnant, but then is a dumb-dumb who brags about having a kid to the Empire, who hunt him down for it since he’s Really Not Supposed To Do That. Dib sacrifices himself while Zim’s still early in pregnancy to save both him and the kid by letting them escape, and Zim settles down outside the Empire’s sight to raise Twix, who’s the ‘Jim’ of the story. Zim doesn’t want her to expose herself so she’s banned from space travel until they find the map to Treasure Planet. Featuring Gaz as Captain Amelia, Sizzlor as Long John Silver, Gir as BEN, ect.

They also get Dib back in the ‘sequel’, as he’d been turned into a brainwashed supersoldier by the irkens.
