Sandwing backs are really freckly with a wide range of shades which mimic sand so they can camouflage when looked down on from above.
#I like to think they bury themselves like a six eyed sand spider#both to ambush prey and also to hide from predators themselves#the tendons in their tail are really stiff that don’t allow for a lot of movement so they tend to bury themselves near big pieces of-#-driftwood so they can press their tail up against it to make it look like it’s part of the wood#so generally sandwings mainbody is more sandcolored and their tails are darker browns for theog camouflage#the tail muscles are stiff so there’s not a lot of movement possible outside of the usual strike#Kos speaks#wof#wings of fire#wof sandwing#sandwing

Why doesn't anyone talk about the spider quotes of crime and punishment more❓️
#floyd.txt#i thought they were good. well anyways now im torn between if rodya would be a six eyed sand spider or a napoleon spider.#the first one is shy and hides itself in the sand and can have gnarly bite#but the other is not truly napoleon. it is just a spider. with napoleons hat on its abdomen sometimes. apparently#thats what i think anyways.

Message in a Bottle - Percabeth Oneshot
“Sometimes you’ve gotta sit back and enjoy the waters. Right, Perce?” My mother said, her soft voice blending with the waves. She tilted her head upward, and it looked like she was glowing, haloed by the evening sun.
The sand was grainy and light as I let it slip between my little fingers. It was too dry to build a sandcastle, though. I ran down where the waters met the land, planting myself a small distance from the waves. I liked the beach even then. The soft crash of waves on the sand, the wind whipping my jet-black hair, and how the waters matched my sea-glass eyes. I began to pile the sand into towers, building a mansion for the insects and crabs that roamed the sand. I dug a moat around the castle, allowing the waves to gush and fill the moat.
Even today, in perfect beach conditions, wrinkles etched by stress aged my mother's face. It was clear, especially when her face morphed from the carefree mom who bought me ice cream on weekends to the wife she had to be for Gabe. Even the beach couldn't cure that.
I turned away from my sandcastle as a wave washed over my feet, bringing a small glass bottle and a scroll wrapped up inside. I uncorked it and turned it upside down, spilling the paper on the sand with a small pen I hadn't seen earlier. It was blank. I pondered, drumming my hands against my face, about who had sent this note for a few seconds when my six-year-old brain kicked in.
I grabbed the pen with force, uncapping and scribbling on it, illegible handwriting filling the pink paper. I balled the paper and pushed it into the bottle. I capped it and threw it into the sea, channelling all my strength. I waved goodbye to it, watching the waves carry it somewhere.
My mother turned to me, eyes crinkling as she smiled. "Probably time we head back, Percy." She said. Her smile was beautiful, but it was hard to ignore how she longed for this place. It was hard to ignore how much I longed for it.
I nodded, picking myself up and clasping my hands in my mother's. I looked up, the height difference between us becoming apparent, as she dragged me to our car. I stole one last glance at the ocean, hoping I could convey how much I'd missed it, as I strapped into my booster seat. My mother sighed, turning on the ignition and pulling me away from the landscape.
***
We were in the same spot again, my mother relaxing on the sand and me running helter-skelter as the crisp morning air filled my lungs. I plopped down and began my plans for a new sandcastle, bigger and more ambitious than last time when a wave crashed against my leg. I turned to catch the cool, smooth object that washed up with it. The same old Pepsi bottle, but this time with a pink post-it note inside.
I rushed to undo the lid, hardly able to contain my excitement. The note from months ago had reached somewhere! I eagerly eyed the paper, my ADHD scrambling to keep up.
I got your note. I like the beach too. I don't like spiders. I'm Annabeth.
-Annabeth Chase
I squealed, causing my mother to finally look up at me. She eyed the bottle and whispered. "What did you find, Percy?"
I recounted the story to her as efficiently as I could, which was not efficient at all. She struggled to keep up, but her eyes widened when I finished talking. She looked even more excited than I was, and I couldn't understand why.
"Oh, Percy. Quickly, write back!" She said, pulling out a post-it from her bag. I wrote as fast as possible, proud to display my slightly improved handwriting. I slipped the note inside and my mother sealed it shut.
I sent it to the sea and turned to look at my mom when it was out of sight. "What if it doesn't reach Annabeth?"
She simply chuckled. "The sea has a mind of its own. But it also has a heart."
***
The sea acted as my texting service, dutifully carrying my messages to Annabeth, and right back. She always wrote in the messiest handwriting. It was like a puzzle, trying to decode what she said. But usually, the content was the same. Homework, learning, lack of friends and repeat. I never understood why she was lonely at school. She was probably one of the most amazing people I knew.
My mother just giggled every time I brought her up. She always ruffled my hair and offered me a blue cupcake. I brought Annabeth up every day.
Now I was twelve. I thought of myself as mature, but sometimes I doubted it. Sure, the childlike curiosity vanished when I hit the age, and the saturation had turned down. But sometimes, I still felt like a kid, waiting for Annabeth's messages by the sea.
I did end up with one friend, though. Grover Underwood. He was a nice guy, with bushy red hair and a personality almost as great as mine, but not Annabeth's. Grover teased me whenever I brought up my pen pal, but whatever. He didn't know Annabeth like I did.
Our peaceful life bunking schools and failing classes only lasted a while. I've always seen things differently, whether it was magic horses on buildings or monsters on the streets, but it was all too real when Mrs Dodds morphed into a monster and became my nightmare. Grover helped me fight her off, and she screeched like a harpy when she was killed. But I knew. I couldn't stay here any longer. I had to leave.
The drive to Camp Half-Blood was stressful. Grover and I clung to each other (as best bros would) as the car jerked, struggling to leave behind the raging minotaur.
But the battle was a losing one. I knew it when the monster grabbed my mother and crushed her into nonexistence. And I could see the flicker of hope and determination in her eyes. And that only made it worse.
My first day at Camp Half-Blood was a blur. Green fields stretched miles and merged into strawberry ones, and the lake was a mirror to the clear sky, but I was in my head about losing my mom. I couldn't even crack a joke all day. A gentle buzz rang in my head, reminding me that my mother was gone.
I clutched the violet bead on my neck, a gift Annabeth had made for me and sent it through the bottle. I made her the same one back, and I pictured her wearing it every single day.
A girl bumped into me. She scoffed, barely looking back, but I caught sight of her neck. The bead, just as violet as the one around my neck, with a sloppy lilac on its face. I grabbed her hand, too stunned to speak. She turned around, an angry remark written all over her face, but it faded as her eyes trailed down to the bead she gave me. We locked eyes for a moment and said at the same time, "You!"
"Annabeth?" I whispered. She swallowed and nodded.
"Percy?" She said, and my heart fluttered at the sound of her saying my name. She said it so perfectly, as if the name tasted sweet on her tongue like she never wanted to let the name go. I clung to the feeling.
She was different than she was a few seconds ago. And she was beautiful. I had a rough idea of what she looked like, curly blonde hair and grey eyes, but it was nothing like seeing her in person. Her hair formed in ringlets and blew in the breeze. Her eyes were like magnets, drawing me nearer to them. I shook away the thought.
Annabeth was by my side for everything. When I journeyed to the Underworld, and even when Grover had to sport a wedding dress. She was there when Luke . . . I might not finish that sentence.
It wasn't long before I asked her to be my girlfriend, and it was only a fraction of a second for her excited "Yes!". We'd shared many things before, a satchel, a quest, but only then did I share a kiss with her, underwater.
I was kicking my feet, sitting on the dock of Long Island Lake, the water swishing as I swung my legs. It was the perfect ending to a perfect day. The sun dipped into the horizon, waving us goodbye, and I could imagine Apollo blowing kisses in the air as he drove his chariot. the grass looked greener than usual under this sun, and I planned to share a hearty meal with Annabeth that night.
I looked down as a bottle hit my feet. Heart racing, I picked it up, feeling like a six-year-old again. I uncapped the bottle like I did with Riptide, and unfurled the note inside.
It was always meant to be and I knew it most. You're very welcome. Hope you and Annabeth are doing alright. I'm just a message in a bottle away.
-Poseidon, your dad
With shaking hands, I held the note close, feeling tears in my eyes. Of course. It was him. It was always him, passing along those notes. I didn't even question it as a kid, just allowing myself to trust the sea. And mom knew too, didn't she? All along, Annabeth and I were written in the stars, by none other than the sea.
I smiled. All of it started with a message in a bottle.
---
HOPE YOU LIKED IT YALL

LMK assorted Spider Gang LMK headcanons/theories
sequel to this post. Focusing on the Spider Gang cus I just finished reading that section of Journey to the West.
Spider Queen:
Spider Queen was one of seven sisters... seven sisters who fell to Monkey King's staff after trying to capture Tripitaka/Tang Sanzang for their master; Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord/Centipede Demon. Spider Queen was the only survivor of the fight besides the sisters' adoptive sons. She has spent the last countless years trying to rebuild the family and home she once had, accidentally becoming a "queen" of spider demon-kind in the process.
The Hundred-Eyed Demon Lord's current status is unknown. Spider Queen doesn't care. Her former "brother" refused to give up the Tang monk in exchange for the safety of his sisters. She views this as the ultimate betrayal from someone she had considered her mentor/older brother. She did steal his alchemy supplies though, hence her cauldron.
Spider Queen actually lost her legs in her and Wukong's original fight - hence why she uses a mechanical lower body. Modern mobility aids yall.
Spider Queen also has beef (accidental Pun) with Zhu Bajie for harassing her and her sisters when they were bathing. Homeboy really went so creepy that they predatory spider demons didn't even wanna eat him. Even Pigsy's brief lapse of braincells when he first met Spider Queen was more polite than what his predecesor did.
Spider Queen's motherly nature extends beyond her clan. It's why LBD deliberately possessed a child to approach her - she knew Spider Queen would think twice about hurting "just a little girl". Spider Queen even gets a little protective over MK once she starts talking to him on an equal level.
Syntax:
Syntax was once a scientist who worked at the Weather Station. When the station was damaged by Red Son and MK's fighting in "Bad Weather"; he got scapegoated by the company as it's lead programmer and was fired. This gives him mega resentment towards both the Monkie Kid gang and the DBK family specifically.
He ran into Spider Queen while trying to find work as a freelance programmer. She needed someone to design a delivery system for her venom that didn't require her biting every single victim's neck. Syntax scoffed and went "I could just program a swarm of mini-robots to do it for you. We use similar drones while cloud-seeding at the station." and the rest is history.
Syntax's name is not only a programming reference, but is a ref to a type of spider family called Synotaxidae - related to Huntsmans and Black Widows (family <3). His name in Mandarian is "Liù yǎn zhū"/六眼蛛 meaning "Six-eyed Spider", which could be a glasses joke from the rest of the spider gang (who normally have four eyes) or a reference to a species in the same family - a six-eyed sand spider, known for their reclusive natures, and having the most powerful venom of any spider species. Hilarious if Syntax ever accidentally bit someone and it was a 1-hit KO.
The antidote made by Red Son wouldn't have worked on Syntax. While it did cure those envenomated during New Years, Syntax getting the "first spin" of the refined venom meant that he recieved far higher a survivable dosage/damage from the spider-bot. He had to work out a few more kinks before the New Years parade or else Megaopolis would been filled with dead half-spider people.
Syntax is having a small crisis of humanity. Not as big as the gang expected, but more like "Oh dang. I could've just been a demon this whole time? This rocks!- Hey why do chickens freak me out all of a sudden?" There's lot of spider demon stuff he has no context for - Spider Queen probably has to give him the spider demon version of "The Talk" the first time Syntax drums his legs at someone he likes.
Has/had a very mild rivalry with Macaque, mostly cus the shadow monkey would poke fun at Syntax for being a magic-less former human, and the programmer could toss the criticism right back at him in words Macaque didn't understand. The hostility died down when Macaque got weirdly interested in an RPG Maker game Syntax was playing, and wanted to know how videogames worked. And so the development of the "Macaque VR game" began.
He def chose the name "Syntax" for himself.
Huntsman:
Huntsman is only slightly younger than Spider Queen. He was a fellow spider demon disgusted by what the pilgrims had done to her sisters. And was a little curious at how strong they truly were. Encountered Sha Wujing on the road when the river demon was foraging, and was immediately enamored with his strength. He knows Sandy is pretending to be a reincarnation, he could recognise his Blue from anywhere.
Hates being seen as weak. Will act out if he suspects someome is "going easy" on him. Even with spicy cooking.
Saw some Things in the potion-portal Tang accidentally sent him to in Laozi/Lao Tzu's lab. The "duck" label was a metaphor.
Beyond tracking devices, this spider is tech blind. Has no gotdamn idea Syntax is talking about half the time.
Goliath/Strong Spider:
Is a little older than Huntsman. But no one's really sure how old he is. Not even him.
Was a drifter from another clan before joining Spider Queen. He doesn't like to talk about what happened with his birth clan.
Deliberately trained his body so he could physically protect his friends/clan from harm. A lot of things can squish a spider, and Goliath wants to make sure that never happens again.
Goliath/Strong Spider has no idea how to make or spin a web. It's the folly of his sub-species. He can however, knit you a pretty good wool blanket instead. :3
Since he's based on a spider called a Goliath Bird-Eater; Goliath occasionally just plucks a bird out of the sky and noms on it like Hogsqueal in The Spiderwick Chronicles. If he ever saw Peng, not even the Buddha could stop Goliath from trying to take a bite.
Spindrax (sadly toyline only ;_;):
Has an obnoxiously black-and-pink colour scheme as a foil to Mei's white-and-green aesthetic.
Is Mei's equal rival in everything. Racing, pinball, arcade games, hand-to-hand combat, etc... Spindrax and Mei even go toe-to-toes when it comes to dancing.
Uses a stylized motorcycle helmet while driving, so much so that Mei honestly didn't know what Spindrax's face looked like until after a race/spider gang fight.
Youngest of the whole spider clan. She's barely considered a young-adult by their standards. Gets babied/underestimated sometimes by them and wishes to prove herself.
Would annoy Syntax while he's working by flicking rubber bands at him.
Bonus ideas+:
The original spider clan was once an actual kingdom, but it fell to silk-greedy humans during the mid Tang Dynasty when the empire began enforcing extreme measures to prevent rival nations from getting their hands on easy silk. When a few too many Roman and Greek tradesmen went to the Spider Kingdom instead of following the Silk Road - the kingdom was burnt to the ground. The Seven Sisters were the only surviving members of a very minor branch of the royal family - saved by a centipede schoolmate.
The Spider Sisters in Journey to the West had adoptive children in the form of other bug demons known as; Bee, Hornet, Cockroach, Cantharis/Spanish-Fly/Blister-Beetle, Grasshopper, Maggot/Wax-Fly, and Dragonfly, who came to defend their moms' after Zhu Bajie harassed them. However they were just little kids, so they could barely nip at the pilgrims even as a swarm of insects. Even the tallest of them was said to be "no more than two and a half feet". SWK simply scared them off by making his hair-clones turn into different birds. It's likely that Spider Queen had to care for her orphaned nephews/students in the aftermath of Jttw.
Would be cool if the seven niblings were still around, trying to avenge their moms and aunts. Hilarious if they were somehow more successful than Jin and Yin at villainy - if only a smidge. Then again that means at the end of canon S3 they're left without a family, if LBD doesn't see them as extra mech material that is...
MK: *driving home from a delivery* A voice off to the side: "Hey monkey-head!" MK, stops driving: "???" (MK turns, only to see seven scrappy-looking kids) MK: "Aww. You guys fans of mine?" Kid 1#: "No! We are sons of the Seven Spider Sisters! Sworn enemies of the Monkey King!" MK, tensing up cus arachnophobia: "S-spiders?" Kid 2#: "Yeah! Now you're gonnna get it!" The Kids: *transforms into their true demon forms* MK: *massive sigh of relief* "Oh thank the buddha! You're just regular bug demons. Sorry nothing personal, I just can *not* deal with a swarm of baby spiders right now. You guys get home to Spider Queen before it gets dark ok?" MK: *continues driving home* The Kids, briefly stunned: "HEY! Get back here!" "You're not suppose to run away!" "We're telling mama about this!"
Spider Demons are able to heal/hibernate inside cocoons similar to those seen in the cave system. Huntsman and Goliath were sleeping off the worst of the winter frost when New Year's woke them up. It could also give an explaination to where Spindrax and the seven adopted bug kiddos are - they sleepin'.
I leave you with this funny Gary Larson comic with a spider in it:

Spiders spiders spiders!! Hector is a six-eyed sand spider, Platinum is an eight-spotted crab spider, and Kit is a crab spider, specifically Thomisus kitamurai. Hector is an incredibly introverted and skittish individual, who will freak out at basically any social interaction whatsoever. He can frequently be found wearing his hoodie up. It makes him feel safer.
Platinum is a traveler, usually on the move. She hitchhikes a lot, and has seen many things, as well as having met many people. She also flirts a lot. Kit is a very mysterious woman, who is usually pretty quiet. You can get her to open up, but she refuses to talk about her past in any way. She was also designed by my girlfriend, @gothghost! Here's her wonderful original drawing :>

MORE MINI MUSIC MEN DESIGNS
I actually made these when I was last in the fandom, but I never got around to posting them then, so I'm posting them now! Like last time, they’re each based on a different kind of spider :3
More info on each under the cut !!
Brazilian Wandering Spider
This big guy is based on the Brazilian Wandering Spider. Also known as the Banana Spider. Also known as the Armed Spider- These guys just have a ton of names. Anyways, I made him extra big and beefy since they’re one of the most venomous spiders and therefore rather intimidating. This is also the reason he always has his bitey bits out. He is very passionate about his job as vent security, and so is always prepared to fend off intruders. He's rather calm around the other music men, however, since those are friends.
Fishing Spider
I got the idea for this one whenever I saw the fishing spider mentioned in a cave exhibit. My main idea was pirate, and he was probably friends with Foxy and might’ve even been part of his crew. Also, after making him I realized that his palette is very similar to that of the mlm flag. So he’s gay now, it’s canon.
That’s about all I got on this guy.
Crab Spider
This one’s based on a crab spider :3
I tried to incorporate flowers into her design, since flowers are a huge part of crab spiders’ existence. I made her abdomen a super weird shape due to the unique shaped that crab spider abdomens tend to be. I imagine her entire abdomen acts as a wind, since she doesn’t have a traditional one.
That’s about all I got.
Ogre Faced Spider
Ogre Faced Spiders are one of my absolute favorites, so I just had to include one eventually. One of the ogre faced spider’s most noticeable features is their big ol eyeballs. I was struggling with thinking of how to incorporate that trait, but then I realized: COMEDICALLY LARGE GLASSES.
Bro probably has a bunch of stolen books he keeps in the vents. He’s read all of them at least ten times, but he still loves them greatly.
He is also a pro at cat’s cradle (a refence to the fact that ogre faced spiders hold their webs in their front legs and use them as a net to catch prey.
The Orb Weaver Twins
These two are both based on different kinds of orb weavers. I've already made a yellow orb weaver music man, but because orb weavers are such a diverse group of spiders, I felt it'd be a disservice to not include more.
The one on the left is based on a Spined Orb Weaver while the one of the right is based on a Horned Orb Weaver.
They are the little siblings of Yellow Orb Weaver, and often hang around "The Scary Spiders" (Brazilian Wandering Spider, Black Widow, Brown Recluse, and Trapdoor) and even look up to them. This is the reason they have their masks; they want to appear more intimidating so they can be like their scary friends.
That's all the music men from this batch, but I doubt this is gonna be the last of them. It depends on how long I stay in the fandom this time, but I have plans to make designs for spiders like the six eyed sand spider, the peacock spider, the wrap around spider, and maybe even more if I can think of ideas for some other ones.

Dangerous Spiders in the World
Source: timesofindia.indiatimes.com
Spiders are an extraordinary species in the entire animal and are known for their complex webs and unique behaviors. These spiders can bring fear into your mind because of their venomous nature. Though spiders can be harmless to humans there are a few species that possess which could cause critical harm. In the following article, we will uncover the most dangerous spiders in the world, and explore their habitats, venomous potency, and the risk they can pose.
1. Brazilian Wandering Spider (Phoneutria)
Features:
Venom: The venom contains neurotoxins that can cause intense pain, loss of muscle control, and in severe cases, respiratory failure.
Appearance: Brown body with distinctive black spots on its legs.
Behavior: Unlike most spiders that build webs, this species is a hunter that roams the forest floor in search of prey.

Human Interaction:
Accidental encounters occur when these spiders take refuge in clothing or shoes. Immediate medical attention is crucial for bites, particularly in children and the elderly.
2. Sydney Funnel-Web Spider (Atrax robustus)
Features:
Venom: Venom targets the nervous system, leading to symptoms such as muscle spasms, elevated heart rate, and in extreme cases, death.
Appearance: Glossy black body with robust fangs.
Behavior: Found in moist habitats, it hides in burrows lined with silk.

Fun Fact:
Before the development of an antivenom in the 1980s, bites from this spider had a significant fatality rate. Today, fatalities are rare, but its reputation as one of the most dangerous spiders in the world remains unshaken.
3. Black Widow Spider (Latrodectus)
Features:
Venom: The venom contains a neurotoxin that causes muscle cramps, nausea, and severe pain. While bites are rarely fatal, they can be excruciating.
Appearance: Small, glossy black body with distinctive markings.
Behavior: Prefers dark, undisturbed places like basements and sheds.

How to Stay Safe from the Dangerous Spiders in the World?
While encountering one of the most dangerous spiders in the world is rare, taking precautions can minimize risks:
Maintain Cleanliness: Regularly clean storage areas and basements where spiders may hide.
Seal Entry Points: Use weather stripping and caulk to prevent spiders from entering your home.
Wear Protective Gear: When working outdoors or in areas prone to spider activity, wear gloves and closed-toe shoes.
Educate Yourself: Learn about the spiders native to your region to identify and avoid potentially hazardous species.
Conclusion
These dangerous spiders in the world come under a small portion of the global spider population. These arachnids play a vital role in our ecosystem despite their fearsome reputation by controlling pest populations and contributing to biodiversity. We can coexist with these fascinating creatures in peace by understanding and studying their nature and habitats and ensure to reduce the risk they pose.
Knowledge can be our biggest weapon against fear. So whenever you come across a spider, appreciate it from a safe distance and respect their role in our ecosystem.
