This gets a little complicated but... as a hermit, Grian. As just a MCYT, Bdubs.

This is a hard question but... I have to say Etho (yes I admit it I'm an Ethogirl)

🐼 Who is one hermit you haven't watched yet but want to?

Joe - everything I see about him is so unique and hilarious but so far I haven't really gotten into his videos. Maybe someday, though!

🐸 What year did you start watching hermitcraft?

Okay, let's do the story now. In early 2019 I was watching some of Grian's building videos and stumbled onto his Hermitcraft series, which I started watching, got hooked on, and gradually started watching more and more hermits. I was really excited when Bdubs came back towards the end of S6 because I had watched him way back in Attack of the B-Team days, and at some point I learned that he had been in S5 so I went back and watched that. The videos were so familiar and I realized I had seen them before... I had watched his S5... so basically I was watching Hermitcraft before I knew it was Hermitcraft! I only watched Bdubs then, though, and had no idea what was going on on the rest of the server so I consider S6 to be when I started watching Hermitcraft.

🐵 What season did you watch first?

Season 6! I watched Grian's series from the beginning and caught up to episodes being currently released right around the time of the Civil War.

🐧 What is your favourite season?

Season 7! The Head Games, Hermit challenges, HWF, the Button, Boomers, Shade-E-E's, the mayoral race, Turf War, Decked Out, the Upside Down, HCBBS, Sewer Cats, Aque Town... so much good stuff!

🐝 What is your favourite hermitcraft moment?

Man, it's hard to choose, but I think my favorite moment(s) were Etho's meetings with Llama Dad in S7. They were so funny and the Etho and Beef vibes are impeccable.

A few! Mostly I watch Tango's Phasmo and stabby streams, and MCC (usually False).

I watch other videos too! I watch just about all the videos of the hermits I'm subscribed to: Traffic series, Empires, Building with Bdoubleo, Naked and Scared, and Etho's singleplayer and modded series are all amazing!

You bet! All three of them have been some of my favorite series ever.

Scar's magical village in S7: the amount of detail was incredible and it truly felt magical. Plus it was only his starter base?!

Phasmophobia vs Ghost Hunters Corp vs Obsideo: My Opinion

So I suppose we should start off just explaining what these games are about. All three are survival horror/paranormal investigation games where the players have to identify the type of ghost and record types of evidence left by the ghost.

So immediately we get some difference in what the evidence is used for.

In Phasmophobia, the evidence is used to determine the type of ghost. You need to collect three types of evidence and only one type of ghost will leave three certain types of evidence. For example, only a demon will give freezing temps, spirit box and ghost writing and only a shade will give EMF5, ghost orbs and fingerprints. Evidence can overlap, for example; freezing temps and spirit box can either be a wraith, a mare or a demon and you will need to collect the third piece of evidence (fingerprints, orbs or writing) to determine the type of ghost. There are six types of evidence for Phasmo: EMF Level 5, Fingerprints, Freezing Temps, Ghost Orbs, Ghost Writing and Spirit Box.

In Ghost Hunters Corp, you can collect almost all five types of evidence. Unlike Phasmo, the evidence is not linked to a specific type of ghost, or "entity" as they are called in-game. The five different types are: EMF, Scan, Temperature, Graphic and Audio. Different interactions come under different types of evidence, for example; writing (be it in the book or on the actual building itself- yes, the ghost can write on the walls/floor/ceiling of the building), that counts as Graphic evidence. Players use the evidence for specific steps in exorcising the ghost.

Obsideo is similar to GHC, where the evidence doesn't point to a certain type of ghost, but rather what specific steps needed for the exorcism. For example, an EMF reading will require the player to turn the breaker off before starting the exorcism.

Since the evidence in GHC and Obsideo aren't linked to a specific ghost type, players must instead observe the ghost's behaviour. Currently, both GHC and Obsideo have five ghost types in-game, with Obsideo planning on expanding to 16 (Phasmo is currently at 14). The ghost types- categorised by game- are listed below:

Both GHC and Obsideo have different ghost models based on the type of ghost, which is crucial, as players are required to observe and come in contact with the ghost to identify them. Phasmo, on the other hand, can get away with using any of the 11 ghost models (7 male, 4 female) as the evidence will identify the ghost.

In terms of maps, Phasmo has the most, with 9 maps (6 small-houses-, 2 medium-high school and prison-, 1 large-asylum) and four on the roadmap. Both GHC and Obsideo have three. GHC (in order of size) has the USA Small House, French Manor and Belgian Fort, while Obsideo is currently three houses.

So, whilst Phasmo certainly has the better spread of maps, I personally find the world-travel element of GHC interesting. I am unsure of where Obsideo is meant to take place, but if I were to guess, I would assume America, much like Phasmo. The currency of GHC is the Euro, and with the inclusion of Belgium in the maps and one of the trailers being in French, my assumption is the dev is from that area of Europe. I may be entirely wrong I suppose, but the travel element intrigued me.

As for the actual gameplay, all three games are similar. The only differences are ghost aggression and the exorcisms in GHC and Obsideo.

Both GHC and Obsideo require exorcisms, but the two vary from each other. For example, in GHC, you will have to read a verse from the Bible while in Obsideo, you merely place the Bible on the floor to start the exorcism. Both games require specific actions to be undertaken or objects to be collected in order to complete the exorcism. For specific examples, I will link Nuzzgard's Twitch and one of his GHC guides for anyone who is interested.

Phasmo does not require exorcisms, generally making for a quicker run, depending on how active the ghost is.

In terms of surviving the Hunt, Phasmo offers two options; hiding in a closest/locker or outrunning the ghost either by literally outrunning them (useful on maps like high school or asylum, assuming the ghost isn't a Revenant or a Jinn with the breaker on) or by looping the ghost around various items of furniture (useful in smaller maps, although some maps it is generally better to hide due to lack of furniture to loop). GHC; you generally have to outrun the ghost, but you can sprint (10 seconds before you have to recharge) and you can close and hold doors to slow the ghost. You can also deter the ghost using objects like the crucifix or Mary statue, or by throwing holy water at the ghost (holy water can also be an exorcism item, so be wary when using it unless you can spawn lots of items). Obsideo; you cannot outrun any kind of ghost. The ghost will always be faster than you. If the ghost is far away, you will be able to put distance between you and the ghost and break line of sight by hiding in a room. In order to survive a Hunt, you must find a room, close the door and stay quiet. If possible, find a room as far away from the ghost as possible, but usually small rooms to the side of bigger rooms (such as en-suites or offices) will provide much more safety than a bedroom or the main living room. The key to hiding, much like in Phasmo, is to stay quiet as the ghost can follow your voice.

Finally, ghost aggression. At the moment, I can say that, without doubt, GHC has the most aggressive ghosts. At the moment, Obsideo ghosts are less aggressive than GHC ones and feel slightly on-par with the Phasmo Intermediate and Professional difficulties. Phasmo is harder to determine, as it not only depends on the level you play (Amateur/Intermediate/Professional), but also the ghost type and that ghost's AI. For example, a player on Professional difficulty could have an active Shade that acts like a Polti, or an inactive Demon that doesn't hunt as much as a Demon should.

But, from what I've seen, GHC ghosts are much more active and will enter hunting mode both quicker and more often than Obsideo or Phasmo. For players who like the challenge and like the higher aggressive nature, the GHC AI is perfect, however, it can make learning the game much more difficult as, even on the beginner's level, the ghost is very active. Neither GHC nor Obsideo have a 'set-up' phase like the Phasmo Amet/Inter levels do (Phasmo Prof does not have a set-up phase either), and the ghost can attack the minute the player enters the building (GHC) or leaves the equipment room (Obsideo).

So my personal preference?

Well, call me old-fashioned, but I'm going to stick with Phasmophobia. To me, it has more to offer in terms of maps and ghost types. I personally find the GHC ghosts too aggressive, but for people who have milked Phasmo dry and are looking for new content, then I would definitely suggest Obsideo when it is released, and GHC is good in the meantime. If you wish to see some guides on GHC before playing, do have a look at Nuzzgard's YouTube channel. he has guides for beginner, intermediate and extreme levels as well as some playthroughs and guides on equipment. He does also have guides and playthroughs on Phasmo, as well as update checks. There is currently one video on Obsideo, but he has done a stream on his Twitch.

As of August 3rd, both Phasmophobia and Ghost Hunters Corp are in early access, and the Obsideo early access has not yet been released.
