six favorite fics meme

I haven’t been writing very long (certainly not compared to some 😄), but I’m coming up to my 8th writing birthday so it’s long enough to have gathered up six favourite fics and have a reasonable amount of difficulty about it

I’ve written for two main fandoms: Mad Max Fury Road, and American Gods (tv), so I’ll be picking from them. Let’s say three from each:

Fury Road

I had to work my way through my in-canon headcanon, if that makes sense, before I found my fun place in this fandom - AUs. What can I say, I’m not outdoorsy, gritty or action-driven enough to do justice to the Wasteland proper. But AUs have a bit more room for manoeuvre.

I’m still not clear what’s the proper definition of Fury Road characters in another fandom’s universe is, but that’s what these first two are.

A Bladerunner take on Citadel life, transplanted to Los Angeles with cyberpunk Many Mothers and a Very Special Max.

💡 What made me think of it? I plotted it out while being bored by Bladerunner 2049

📚 What It Taught Me: that I don’t need to be scared of writing action

🎶 The Song: Do You Know The Way To San Jose? (Dionne Warwick) … thump thump thump

Rebel smugglers and elite sex workers in space! This is an extended retelling of the quite comical Firefly episode ‘Our Mrs Reynolds’, with a sequel thrown in because this story spawned a delightful villain and an unexpected ship.

💡 What made me think of it? A tumblr prompt post doing the rounds - something about a Wild West brothel Fury Road AU idea

📚 What It Taught Me? That it’s a joy to get comments where people are YELLING. Incoherently yelling.

🎶 The Song That Makes Me Think Of This Fic: Delta Dawn (Skeewiff)

This is actually my most popular Fury Road fic, in terms of kudos. More straightforward this one - it’s not a crossover or mashup, but a simple fairground AU. Byrch gave me tarot advice for this, for which I’m eternally grateful.

💡 What made me think of it? Listening to Fortune Teller (Benny Spellman)

📚 What It Taught Me: That you can get a whole plot from a single song (more or less)

🎶 The Song that Makes Me Think Of This Fic: Going to have to say Sweet Caroline (Neil Diamond) makes me want to cry a little now

American Gods

For me, this fandom’s fic was all about FIXING IT. Fixing the end of season 2, to be more specific. Hence, my first two favourite AG fics are two different flavours of Laura Resurrects Sweeney. They’re both technically series, each consisting of one Resurrection fic, one very short follow-up, and one What Happens Next.

This is the first in the Stir Crazy series, a shutdown-era fic with themes of marriage, belief and shortsighted schemes that have unforeseen consequences. Salim’s in this one - and they’re detectives! (nearly forgot to mention that)

💡 What Made Me Think Of It? The devastation of the end of s2. Simple. The detectives bit to be honest I can’t remember where that came from.

📚 What It Taught Me? I don’t need to be afraid of writing smut (I tackle it in much the same way as I do action)

🎶 The Song That Makes Me Think Of This Fic: Promised Land (by any of the artists who recorded that song BUT name checking Chuck Berry who wrote it)

The first in the I Can Fix Him series. Laura goes to Ireland! Shadow does some self-reflection! Themes include the Geography of Gods (I guess you could say that gods, like grapes, are very sensitive to their terroir), polyamory and everyone acknowledging that they fucked up and being better for it

💡 What Made Me Think Of It? A tumblr picture of a portal tomb in Ireland somewhere, can’t remember the specifics but it was the start of the idea

📚 What It Taught Me: It confirmed that flying from Dublin to the US involves way more liminal spaces than any other international travel

🎶 The Song That Makes Me Think Of This Fic: it’s a toss up between Alive And Kicking (Simple Minds) and Gettin’ Happy (Dolly Parton) - I couldn’t fit it in, but that’s the middle Zorya sister’s song. She deserved some good lovin’

This isn’t a fix-it fic (I’d got those out of my system by then), but was inspired by Boss Level, a movie that improves with every watch. Simple premise stolen from that film - assassination mark gets stuck in a timeloop and starts over every time they get killed. Laura of course is the assassins’ mark - and there are several gods queuing up to take her out. Sweeney included, but his definition of ‘take her out’ is a little unclear.

Back in class and confronted by H.J. Alex Claremont-Diaz, a ballet dancer, is asked to list his ‘favorite positions.’ His hilariously suggestive answer goes viral, as does the unexpectedly flustered reaction to it by the Internet’s very own FoxySexEd. So obviously, Alex has to slide into Henry’s DMs. How could he resist? When a man that attractive wants your dick, only a fool would pass.

Henry is surprising. He wants to be pushed around, thrown for a loop, and he wants Alex to do it for him. But whenever Alex tries to soften his landing, Henry clams up like he’s been burned.

Alex can work around that, obviously. He's a dancer. If you're gonna toe the line just right, pointe shoes are a must.

A distinctly male voice that does not belong to his sister, says, “Er.” He drops his chin and looks down at the counter, where a blond haired beauty is staring up at him from a facetime call. In the top corner, Alex can see what the man sees; himself, partially shirtless, standing over the phone, his abs dripping with coffee.

Alex has no idea who the fuck this man is.

Or, the facetime call that changed Alex's life.

Everyone Knows Who You Are by smc_27. T, 26k. Look, it’s not that he doesn’t feel influencers deserve representation or have complex management needs. It’s just any time he’s met with an influencer, he’s not only had next to nothing in common with them, but he’s also got no bloody clue what they’re talking about half the time. It’s a world far away from the one he typically resides in. He deals with authors and musicians and the occasional up and coming tennis player or gymnast or swimmer. His niche.

He walks into Conference Room B and sees Alex Claremont-Diaz sitting there in a smart black button down shirt, unbuttoned just enough to be devastating but not inappropriate. Henry’s boss is there, too.

When Alex sees Henry, he smiles, but also gives a discreet look up and down. Oh, god. No.

they band together to hog them from everyone else. denmark is bouncing on the sofa just barely clinging onto his ability not to snatch, because nor and ice are locked in a tiebreak which has been going on for a full hour. he wants a turn so badly. nor and ice will deathmatch until they both starve to death or one of them wins, whichever is sooner.

who usually causes the fights?

norway. they both have low emotional intelligence but iceland is slightly more switched on (he's younger, he has younger friends). one might say he's securely attached. norway is very avoidant-dismissive attachment: he causes fights by getting too clingy, but sometimes also for being too distant and cold.

who steals the others' clothes?

norway steals everyone's clothes. iceland wouldn't want to steal norway's clothes. he doesn't even really like borrowing stuff off norway because you can never be sure if it's been washed recently.

who eats all the good snacks before the other can get any?

neither - norway will guard the snacks vigilantly to make sure ice gets his share, and iceland isn't the greedy sort, he never takes more than his share. denmark, however...

which one gets the top bunk or bottom bunk?

it’s been nearly a year since pixel the wonder dog came into our lives so we are having an anniversary party this weekend.

Favourite holiday:

I like Christmas. It’s sunny and since I often cook it I get all my favourite foods. If I’m catering I do not give a fuck.

Last year we had lasagne and a roast meal because I wanted lasagne but not to eat it for a week.

The year before that we had all different kinds of meat balls (including spicy Asian for my sister in law that were very spicy and Asian inspired and not made from an Asian person. ) we had turkey and pork and falafels purely because it is what I wanted.

My dad had his nose out of a joint a bit but genuinely that makes it more fun.

Christmas is great. We have a sensible tree and a reasonable number of gifts and a week off work.

Favourite movie: I love Fantasia. I am a bad movie watcher. I have to go to the cinema or I will think of something else to do.

Favourite sport: I do equally love netball, football, pro wrestling and ice hockey.

Last thing you cooked:

We had minestrone soup (homemade!) garlic bread (shop made) with bacon (home… fried?) . And I made cupcakes because the oven was on. I made 11 cupcakes. There are four cupcakes left. On the one hand aww they were good! On the other hand I have yet to have one and there are only four people in the house.

Last thing you wore. Jeans and a Winnie the Pooh t-shirt. (It’s pink! ) right now I have pj’s on. They have spoons and tiny love hearts on them I don’t know why. They are from one of those fly by night shops at the mall and are soooooo soft. Lucky they don’t have random swear words.

(An aside I don’t remember reading Winnie the Pooh as a kid but my partner insisted we needed a copy when we had kids so I’ve read it but as an adult. I like it. I approve.)

Last song listened to: And she was (talking heads) it’s my Iris Law song. I listen to it when I’m writing glitter because it puts me in the right head space for that fic. Then I just let Apple pick similar music and every three or four songs I listen to And she was again.

Dumb thing that makes me laugh. When writing is just like not happening I’ll play it a lot because I get annoyed look at my music list. When it’s going well it’s like“and she was” was six songs again and I have no recollection of what I was listening to. I’ll like look up blinking and release for some reason it playing like Seafret and I’ll have no idea how I got there.

Not that anyway asked but the Ivan /Thomas song is in fact Guns of Brixton. Gonna think it every time I write Ivan’s name anyway. The Clash and then Jimmy Cliff for my favourite versions. There are a surprisingly large number of covers. Arcade Fire excellent. Nouvelle Vague doesn’t do it for me.

Might call the fic “the money seems good”.

Star sign Aquarius. (Not adjusted) am I an Aquarius? It’s summer in January here :).

Favourite colour: pink with a side of purple. But really pink.

Tea /coffee. Yea please. Too much of it in lieu of water. I have my tea stewed and cold or hot and too weak. I have coffee with fluffy milk. No sugar.

Quirk. Ummm I have trained myself out of saying “bless you” when people sneeze.

One thing you would change (about you) I am an extremely impatient driver. Sometime I pretend to be singing along with music and start chair dancing when I realise I have been non stop swearing and maybe people can see I’m me in their rear vision mirror. If you mean like a physical thing? I would like to be taller. Or to not need glasses.

One thing you’re proud of? I don’t look externally for validation. I’m happy. I love those things.

Next plans (these were the writing ones I just did a WIP so..)

Going to finish Ivan/Thomas, then either going to finish glitter or re do the one I started with Jude as not a demon making (maybe) Trent not a demon because I have a different Jude one and I don’t want to write him that much. Or getting to the point of ever again.

I want to finish the last part of tidal. Which is stubbornly half / a third done because I have not added words to it. Which seems vastly unfair.

The last thing I wrote lol if you could see me I’d be laughing. I literally wrote Virgil going down on Iris while Trent holds her up. It’s like a lot of athletic flexible rich people sex. You can wait for the fic. It would sound bizzare out of context.

Pondering /fic adjacent something like that: Having an Ivan/Thomas hmmmmm. Have a tricky moment I’m trying to navigate. And also trying to thinking I tag age gap? There are 22 years between them but Ivan is 28.

What won’t you write: hahahahahhahhaa. Friends I wrote royal family incest porn. I wrote Orlando Bloom with a little person as a birthday present. I have written non con domestic violence and I’m actually really pleased with Ivan/Thomas I think some of the lines are beautiful and it’s interesting and meaty and no one will read it lol.

And I don’t care! I love getting older. I’ll cater what I want to eat and if you don’t want it you can have potatoes with my dad.

Not even being aggressive! I also make excellent roast potatoes! Just I don’t have much time to write (she says writing a bloody essay here) so I have to write what grabs me.

“What do you want, Thomas?” Ivan asks. The air con is blasting in the car but the sun still forcing itself on them. A dazzle off the outward facing windows, a raw flinch every few metres.

What is something no one else will notice but it’s important to you. I can’t remember exactly how this was phrased! I have written coach/player fic before and normally I make a point of mentioning that power imbalance by having the player refer to them as the boss or the gaffer or the mister. But in this Ivan always calls Thomas by his name.

because I'm a sucker for both sirius and snape getting a happy ending, and this fic delivers this within a beautiful, gentle examination of the horrors of sirius' young adult life and the way that hope and desire are things he clings to during the lonely misery of his confinement in azkaban. the repeated motif of the sky always gets to me:

when he showers, he whistles a song. he’s not sure he knows it’s name, but he can remember strobe lights and the way snape looked when he was as young as sirius can remember him being. that was back in the days when severus tried so hard not to be queer and sirius thought he had everything to live for.

sirius spits out toothpaste into the sink and contemplates himself in the mirror. it looks like there’ll be a thunderstorm tonight. he puts his toothbrush into the glass and moves into the room, poking his head out of the window. the wind has gathered momentum but the sky is clear.

because i love to see older woman/younger man relationships in fandom - there's still far too few of them - and because i love to see fics from the perspective of minor characters, and this, which is as much a careful and generous character study of tom the barman (and the town of skegness) as it is of its central couple never fails to make me smile:

tom took the chance of sitting down again, and when he didn't get tossed out on his arse, he felt a little emboldened. "and you thought you wanted this? life in a muggle pub in skegness?"

because it makes me shriek. i'm not usually a fan of either professor harry or professor voldemort fics, but it turns out that my exception is when they're forced to work together as a team because harry's newly-divorced and adrift in a world which no longer makes sense and voldemort's a ghost who's obsessed with memes:

“what are you thinking so intently about?” voldemort murmurs. “you mustn’t overtax your brain, it wasn’t meant for hard activity.”

harry snorts. “honestly, i’m just trying to figure out where albus got his bad taste in men. it’s not ginny; lars isn’t actually that terrible.”

because i have an unstoppable fondness for the concept of redemption, which is hugely and unfairly maligned in this fandom, and this story is an astonishingly beautiful meditation on the theme, not only in how it approaches both snape and harry as they come to terms with the war and what it has taken from them, but in how it portrays tobias snape and his own reckoning with his past and quest to make amends with his son:

tobias was on a roll. “you lot, always talking about your magic, waving your bloody sticks around like it makes you better than us normal people…” he slammed his hands on the table and severus shuddered, his fists opening and closing around nothing. he’d left his wand in the room; it wasn’t like he could use it, and he had to trust potter could deal with tobias snape. the man was nothing, to a boy who’d faced the dark lord and come out the victor. “you’re not. you’re not! your goddamn magic… we’d have been better off without it, i’m telling you.” severus looked again through the crack and saw tobias with his back turned on potter, his shoulders shaking. he was angry, but not yet taking it out on potter. maybe he was scared of potter’s wand; maybe now that he was sober he was better at keeping his violence in check. either way, severus didn’t trust it would last forever. it never had, before.

why i recommend it:

because there are days when you need eighth-year fluff, and this sort of fluff is so rarely given to neville as a central character, but it should be:

I read the first chapter of a shard or two by @aeithalian the day it was posted just on my casual daily scan of the RWRB tag (god, remember when I could do that and keep up???) and it's one of the few times I can remember scrolling back up to the top of a fic partway through reading the chapter to hit subscribe because I was so terrified I was going to forget to do it at the end lmfao. It's the post-canon political drama of my DREAMS and I am forever just hunched over it like a goblin with a giant soup ladle gobbling it up.

End of Year Asks - meme

6. Episode of tv or webisode that defined the year for you?

Well, I would say that... not necessarily an episode, but a series of episodes, and that would be the William Lewis arc of S15 in Law & Order: SVU.

Mostly because, of course, that a great portion of this year was devoted to writing the mammoth fic Deep Deep Down Where the Darkness Dwells. I spent a lot of time and a lot of energy on that fic, it pretty much defined me this year.

9. Best Month for you this year?

Hm. I'm going to say December.

Not necessarily because it's the most recent and the freshest in my mind. But because it redefined my sense of self a little.

At the end of November, I was made redundant from my job with a company I had been with for nine years. It was a bit of a surprise. My team went from 9 people down to 4. The person that they kept for my area is... well... probably not as dedicated to actually doing the job as i had proven to be. But they're friends with the big boss, so I wasn't totally surprised (and I have since heard from friends still working there that they're already floundering in the position, which... they got who they wanted not my business, i suppose).

I did get a fairly hefty redundancy payout, which was nice. By the end of the whole process, I was ready to leave and it was actually a kind of relief that I no longer had to work there.

HOWEVER, I had visions of having to stretch the redundancy payment well into next year. (With a pretty tight budget, I could probably have stretched it out for six months or more).

You hear stories and nightmares of job hunting for ages, so many rejections and failed interviews and I was prepared for that.

That said, I got short listed pretty quickly for four different jobs and was invited to do online assessments and questionnaires to move to the next stage. Two of the jobs looked really good.

On the second week of no work, I was contacted by a fifth company, interviewed, and hired within the space of three days.

Less than two weeks out of work and I had already secured another job.

I started the following week, worked for two days and was miserable. I am too old to make myself deliberately miserable long term. And on the first day was offered an interview for one of the jobs I really wanted. So I spoke to the manager and we agreed I was not the right fit.

I interviewed for the good job and was hired. I start that job in January.

I was hired for two jobs within three weeks of leaving my old job.

This really opened my eyes. Because, while i know I can *do* the work and am quite capable, I don't always play the political or social games and this (while it shouldn't, realistically it does) can hold me back and rub people the wrong way.

I am not used to OTHER people seeing my worth. I feel quite validated.

And I can put the majority of the redundancy package in my saving account. I have never really had much of a savings. Any time I build anything, something comes up with the house (we need a new toilet, a new fridge, my heater dies, etc). Any savings I've ever had have been small and temporary.

Now? Now I'm going to HAVE savings. I'll probably need them when I have my transplant, because I can imagine I'll have a lot of time off for that. But I was saving my Long Service Leave for that and that formed part of my payment, so it's been put aside. Excellent.

14. Favorite book you read this year?

I haven't actually read a lot of books. I know. I am shamed. I have been busy with work, with writing, with just being present in my life.

Does fic count? I'm going to be that person and say I have read and reread my own fic several times. I guess that would count as my favourite.

However, other than that, you have Principal Decisions, who was written by one of my close friends. It was actually really good (even if I did have to buy my own copy, because said friend has held my promised signed copy hostage and still hasn't sent it yet.... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE 😠, 😉).

4. If your favourite character weren’t in Death Note, what anime/manga do you think they would thrive in?

I'd love to see L filling in as Kakashi's substitute from time-to-time in Naruto, tbh... I've only read the first six volumes of it so far, but I feel like in the manga Kakashi gives me very similarish funny cryptid L vibes half the time

12. What is a fanwork (edit, fic, art, etc.) that you still think about to this day? (Pls link to the original!)

Fic has always been one of the crowning jewels to me in the DN fandom, and the one I've probably thought about the most frequently and the most in-depth over the years and that had the biggest impact on me as a piece of creative writing is The Hinterland Doctrine fic series. I've made some great friends in the fandom through enthusing about this fic together over the years too, which is perhaps the best part of all!

Also, I feel like I have to give a shout-out to Coexistence is Boredom as well, as it was my first absolute fave Lawlight fic from my first Death Note rodeo back in the late 2000s that I still have a huge soft spot for now. I feel like it's still one of the most canon accurate and enjoyable Light Yagami fan characterizations out there to me to this day, and also one of the funniest and most charming depictions of L as well. I still find myself replaying many of the enjoyable little moments from it in my mind in 2024

6 - What characters captured your heart?

Well, for some reason I tried not to say Astarion just for variety's sake and he manifested into reality just to write his own name down, so there's that. But other than him, it has to be Karlach, Wyll, and Jaheira! Karlach from the moment that she mindlessly raged after beating the paladins and actually killed my squishy bard and once I stopped laughing about dying after the combat, I paused and thought about it from a character stage, to think about how angry you'd need to be to kill your ally, even if unintentionally, and then what kind of anger would lead to her and her fury, and the relief, and then she has had a permanent spot on my team ever since. And Wyll it was when Mizora yanked him by the throat the first time; I feel like in media I've gotten used to the selfless sacrifice, in a way? So when he didn't kill Karlach I was more curious about the choice of having one of of the main six be someone who had that option, and it was only when Mizora reared her head that I realized oh, no, this is not the normal plucky farmboy hero type, this shit has consequences, this was a real sacrifice, and then I've watched him eagerly ever since. Which was not helped with he beamed kindhearted loser energy at me through a dance and he also found himself rather permanently at my side. And the Jaheira is just. She's everything. A grey-haired legend of fame who ran out of fucks to give about a century back and couldn't be arsed to do anything resembling decorum, but she'd fence jabs back and forth until both sides have run out of family lineages to insult. She's the best. love u

25 - How do you recharge between fics?

ha! the short answer - I sleep and then get back into them. the long answer - it entirely depends on my schedule, mostly; writing tends to be my free time, since I'm in a pretty intensive major that eats up all other avialable hours, so I treat writing as my cool-down and relaxation of choice. of course, then I hyper-correct in the other direction and treat it like another job and pump out 60k in two weeks but mostly the writing is my recharge between work. but also i read. like a lot. best way to get those spirit typewriters cranking

Let's round out the rest of Crassus' men

I've shared them all in one post here. Having these actors in mind was the critical difference which helped me write Crassus' chapters because boy oh boy was I struggling.

Without further ado, here are Trebonius Moss, and Cassius and Marcus Luna:

The Baby

Trebonius Moss. The only other high born Capitol member of Crassus' squad. He's the youngest of the six and isn't totally convinced of Crassus' view of the world... yet.

He's the oldest living sibling with three younger sisters, one of whom becomes a classmate of Coriolanus', mentoring the female tribute from District 5.

He's a bit naive, but with Teller's help he's improving everyday.

I cast Kodi Smit-McPhee, unfortunately best known for that one "he's white" meme from Elvis, but what made me think of him for the role of Moss was his performance in The Power of the Dog. From an unassuming, slightly odd boy, to a man capable of expert deception and murder. He is from the Capitol after all.

Big brother extraordinaire

The most obvious of the names, Cassius Luna is named after actor Diego Luna and his character Cassian Andor from the Star Wars universe.

Andor was one of my absolute favourite shows of the last 5 years and I've rewatched it several times and it greatly influenced how I wrote this fic.

Diego Luna also appears to share a lot of similar political values to me, many of which are on display in Andor and in his actions, particularly joining the Zapatista protests in his teenage years.

Cassius has one goal: keep his brother alive. He's taught him everything he knows about how to survive and they've only stuck around because that's their best option until the weather clears. While not a great shot like Teller, Cassius is very adept at laying traps to catch small game, which helped keep the men alive when deer were harder to come by.

Also, excuse the blurry pic, I thought it was clearer than that.

Marcus has got your back

Marcus Luna is the younger of the two brothers and while he's still learning from Cassius, he's by no means dead weight, being incredibly capable in his own right. Marcus will forage and find every single edible plant in a several mile radius, having encyclopaedic knowledge of everything that can feed, hurt, or heal his compatriots.

I cast David Castañeda because I just think he should be in more stuff. Like most, I first saw him in The Umbrella Academy as Diego Hargreeves, but it was his performance in an indie called Standing Up Falling Down where I saw just how talented he is, not to mention endlessly charming. And like David, I could absolutely see Marcus sneak off in a corner to write a little poem to himself just for fun.

I also wanted to make sure to include a reference to the Lunas speaking Spanish to each other considering it is both Luna and Castañeda's first language. And while Suzanne Collins doesn't allude to languages other than English in canon, I know that languages don't disappear that easily and that there would be a class component to who speaks languages other than English in Panem.

a fic called stay with me, which ended in MCD.

i end most of my fics happily!

i think the happiest is probably wild things. everything works out for the better in that one

i dont! very grateful that everyones always so nice, makes me feel like the are you winning son meme

do you write smut?

i used to never write smut but something this year just had me writing so much of it and whilst it feels mostly awkward to write, people seem to like it!

craziest crossover?

i've never written any kind of crossover, and i don't like to read them either. i guess MOTA in the western genre is the closest i'll come.

not that i know of!

all time favorite ship?

ive been in fandoms since i was like 12, there's no way i can pick an all time favourite. it literally just depends on what im into at the time.

i really like inej/kaz from six of crows. i think scully/mulder is great. hannibal/will. ellie/dina. willem/jude.

off the top of my head i would say i'm most fond of the tenth doctor/rose. that one gets me.

what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

i'm really starting to doubt my ability to finish seven miles out of freedom town. im gonna try my best but the hyperfixation has moved on and it feels more like a chore than something im enjoying rn. im really sorry to anyone that disappoints, it disappoints me too, cos wild things was genuinely some of the most fun i've ever had writing fic and interacting with a community. i'll try and get it finished, it might just take me a while.

what are your writing strengths?

i think im pretty good at dialogue, making it sound like something a real person would say.

i think im fairly decent at dramatic writing, at making things sound flowery and poetic and theatric. thats my favourite way to write.

dont think im too bad at characterisation most of the time.

what are your writing weaknesses?

i suck at worldbuilding. i think its boring and i dont care for it, i just want to write about the characters. planning bores me. i just write things and go back and fix inconsistencies later.

wild things is the most effort i've ever put into a world. i was googling locations like a mofo to make things accurate.

thoughts on dialogue in another language?

i think its great! one of my favourite fics has a character that speaks french and he uses it to tease other characters who don't know what he's saying. its done so beautifully.

first fandom you wrote in?

if we're talking actual first fandom it was probably one direction or creepy pasta when i was like 13.

the first fandom i ever wrote for seriously was buzzfeed unsolved in 2018.

favorite fic you've written?

im very proud of washed clean, an angsty oneshot about gale/john. i really like the writing in that one.

i dont think i can pick a favourite, i have like three. hitchhikers and the axeman of new orleans were my starting points and really showed me the joy of writing fic that other people were going to read. i had a lot of fun writing those and i love me some dark themes.

wild things consumed my every thought for like, the 11 days i was writing it. ive never been so obsessed with one of my own fics before, it still blows me away how well it was recieved and i met some great people through it so im eternally grateful for that.

my favourite CO and B7 fics are all the big hitters (except not Keep Calm - it's good, but... maybe I just didn't enjoy writing it enough that early into the fandom and it's tarnished by that), plus 'Computer Chess', which is a minor work really - but i just think it works so well. the Who fics are really short - but again, i can't find much fault with them, in comparison with something like RE that i love but is FULL of faults. the Gallifrey one is seriously one of my fav things I've ever written, even though it's just the same joke over and over.

honourable mentions to things like... Hopelessly Miscast, Hang the Moon, Norma Jean in CO, Roj Blake and Other Phobias (a terrible name in that I could not remember it for a moment - I was like, I know it wasn't called Not!Gayvon) and Illyria in B7, and the Sleepwalker and Only Time Lords not to be president this Time War (another short but v good one) for Who.

4. Longest period of time it's taken you to write one fic?

Prior to my Hellaverse fics everything I wrote was very shot oneshots (which I normally wrote in 1 - 2 weeks). With my Hellaverse stuff it's still ongoing, but in terms of individual chapters the longest its taken me is just under three weeks for a chapter if the words aren't flowing XD

12. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Blue Exorcist! It also continues to haunt my brain given its still an ongoing series and I keep meaning to write more for it because the worldbuilding is fascinating (you may also notice a theme in some of the media I enjoy). I do have the WIP Blue Exorcist/Inuyasha crossover fic floating around in my drafts that I have meant to get back to!

22. Do you reply to comments?

Most of the time! Though admittedly a few slip through the cracks. I love to respond to long comments with long ramblings of my own about various thoughts/headcanons/worldbuilding!

28. Have you ever made friends with people through your writing?

So prior to this year I have been a professional fandom lurker, and hadn't published anything in like six years, so don't have much in the way of writing/internet based friends. However that's in the process of changing now I've dived in writing for the Hellaverse!

(also if you wanna be friends hit me up, I am an anxiety-filled bean who is normally too nervous to DM people the first time in case they think I'm overstepping XD)
