our site has a total surface area of ca. 93.18 acres
specific buildings have to be kept.
the assignment #2 stipulates under "restrictions" that the design must contain betwen 10 and 20 acres of PUBLIC GREEN (in addition to PRIVATE GREEN which could be communal courtyards connected to housing).
an access road has to be preserved or a new one provided on the north edge of the site.
these bits of data already allow you to speculate on lay-outs for the site incorporating some existing and required conditions.

really do not think people understand the extent to which palestinian sites/landmarks (especially muslim ones) were destroyed, beginning in 1948 until now, even in cities. the oldest extant mosque in jaffa (al-bahr mosque) was built in 1675, even though islam came there in the 7th century
#not to mention that many mosques that /were/ restored but are in 'jewish areas' r heavily guarded & prayer is hardly if ever allowed#to anyone thinking ''you can say the same thing abt jewish sites in mena countries''. you can't have one repaired w/o the other#and ultimately the root of the problem is both the colonization of palestine + antisemitism. advocating for palestine + against#antisemitism are far from mutually exclusive#(and for the love of god please stop using mena jews as a political gotcha i swear to god#and it's not like a regime that forced everyone to integrate into the ''new jewish'' culture is any less genocidal)#as someone who comes from one of the jewish groups who was affected by that to arguably one of the highest degrees & who's also a staunch#antizionist even i know that. politics re: cultural site preservation are stupid but that doesn't make it any less stomach-wrenching#it really is just Luck. al-bahr mosque just so Happens to be in a ''mixed city'' so destroying it'd be a ''bad look''#the tomb of nahum just so Happens to be in an autonomous kurdish territory so restoring it isnt as big a deal#and then people have the gall to wonder how i could ever ever ever sympathize with those ''savage arabs''. seriously??#btw im muting notificaions on this post so if you have a problem with me just dm me or block me whatever idc

To be fully honest, I mostly just got lost on a construction site full of stinging nettles
#sometimes you think you have found a 'shortcut' to the birding area#and then you realize that it is 1. an industrial construction site and very much not public property and 2. filled with stinging nettle#up to your chest#so you have to hide in the bushes so people don't get mad at you but they're also stinging nettle#i'm going to be honest i am topping the list of 'guys who should have contracted lyme disease by this point'

If you want to elaborate further, how do you organize them? By role, species, age, alphabetical order, vibes or something else?
#I use a mix of improperly used site (Trello) and writing it all down in Drive (docs and sheets my beloved)#sure I also use tumblr but it's all already written in the sacred texts(?) so that feels like an extension of my note docs#and lol it used to be ALL in my mind. then I learned not to trust my memory too much. anything I think and I like goes down on a note.#that said I'm considering moving it all to Obsidian (as soon as I learn how to use it) because of some nitpicks I have with docs#anyway so far I organized my gw2 ocs in story-relevancy categories: Main. Extra. Background. Companions.#mains do story-relevant stuff. extras are supporting characters to mains or have minor roles in important story stuff. backgrounds are -#- mostly family or part of others' backstory. companions are pets/mounts/constructs/creatures (and get their own subcategories).#I should probably go back and change some OCs' categories though oops#poll#am curious therefore I ask#(and I need to compare how I do these things because I feel like I could improve in some areas)#I poll you answer

i'm the first to agree that the 523498234 different ancient gene scrolls are ruining many functions and areas of the site but i don't know whyyyy people keep jumping to the marketplace as the first example of how they're clogging up pages when the marketplace is in fact the one and only place where you actually can filter out ancient genes?
marketplace has had filtering since march 2021! you just click the magnifying glass to search & filter! (the same revamp also very helpfully split the old specialty tab up into the 3 different specialty, genes, and scenes/vistas tabs, which the AH and hoard all still DESPERATELY need on top of the ability to filter ancient genes out)
#the gene bloat is a huge problem and i can and will complain about it forever#however the marketplace is like the one area on site where this specific problem is... not a problem actually#im really hoping this is like the first situation they fix asap once the refactoring is completely done#bc they've just been making it worse and worse with every new ancient release :/ cant wait to get the AH and hoard and everywhere else fixe#the marketplace is already manageable the problem is solved here we don't need to complain about ancient scrolls in the MP

Cannot emphasize enough how much I mean minors DNI.

#thinking of dinosaurs and troodontids were my favorite dinosaurs as a child#when younger i had a real full troodontid tooth fossil that meant a lot to me#for a time we lived within a few kilometers of hadrosaur sites and troodontid sites#while wider general area had many sites of recovery for the big celebrities like tyrannosaur and multiple dromaeosaurs#at that time troodontids were kinda infamous for i think the depiction in some childrens field guides and dino books#which depicted like a fantasy speculative humanoid troodontid based on 1980s model at Canadian Museum of Nature in ottawa#anyway would visit a small local paleo center a lot and woman in her 70s or 80s ran the counter of their center and rock shop#one day she asked me what my fave dino was and i said troodon so she pulled out the tooth and just gifted it to me#in little black case size of ring box with padding and transparent plastic viewing cover kinda like laminate for displaying a trading card#tooth got stolen from out my vehicle while giving some people a ride while at university before i got too poor for tuition#later during first year of pandemic owner of my storage unit died and new property owners threw away everything i ever owned#i was homeless anyway lost job due to early pandemic closures and had to allocate any money to insulin and other prescrip meds#but wouldve found a way to save my things if the new owners had contacted me#they threw out photoalbums y backpacking gear y books y musical instruments y clothes y artwork y camera y all family keepsakes#and all childhood treasures like souvenirs and gifts and school awards and writing portfolios and all the little memories#which i was always sentimental about as child#from earliest age my room looked like a natural history museum with plants and maps and library of field guides#and rocks and field trip keepsakes and all kinds of little animal figurines and mother had painted room in forest greens and browns#to feel like a forest and among the succulent plants and a globe sat the troodon tooth#parents passed when i was a child#never near any family and were always moving never got to settle into proper stable place then father passed after long sad illness#and mother put in so much effort but she passed few years later and i could not take care of myself or my remaining material possessions#and so im still quite hurt having nothing whatsoever remaining of my childhood or school friends or mother or life generally#and when trying to process grief my thoughts often come back to the troodontid tooth as a focal point a distillation of what was lost#even when young i knew it was advised not to become too connected to material physical possessions#but still there are some small little trinkets in our lives that seem to hold so much meaning and i tortured myself for losing that tooth#thinking about troodon reminds me of childhood

#ndr#find me where the wild things are#scenery#pied-billed grebe#long-billed dowitcher#this is a provincial rec area and the name rang a bell but id never been#turns out its a pheasant release site!#we have several in the province#pheasants unlimited and the alberta conservation association (and other groups) raise and release pheasants for upland hunting opportunities#it was such a cool little area ill definitely use it for puppy training in tbe future#its way out in the boonies and seems very unused outside of hunting season
