Wattens, cittadina tirolese di Innsbruck, ospita ogni anno migliaia e migliaia di visitatori, il museo #swarovski ed i suoi cristalli sono la principale attrazione. Io ci sono stata lo scorso dicembre, ho visitato Innsbruck, Salisburgo ed infine Monaco. È stato un tris che rifarei senza pensarci due volte. Ho amato molto l'atmosfera natalizia che si respirava e l'accoglienza (nonostante austriaci e tedeschi non siano proprio super ospitali). Il museo swarovski invece mi è piaciuto molto, diciamo che il tutto era giustamente molto abbagliante, ma non poteva essere diversamente no?! Più che l'interno che forse era un po' scontato fosse super luccicante, ho apprezzato molto il percorso all'esterno. Nonostante il freddo, come potete vedere dalla foto c'era neve e gelo, abbiamo visto ogni piccolo dettaglio. Le nuvole di cristallo pura magia! Il labirinto invece vi ha fatto ritornare bambini, ci siamo sfidati a chi uscisse prima...così ci siamo trovati a correre e ridere come matti...cosa che facciamo spesso. Voi che programmi avete quest'anno per le festività? First Stop, Xiamen!

After a few years of hiatus from this travel/personal blog, I’m baaack! I was recently talking about blogging with my good friend, Alice, and I realized I should get this started back up as my little sister (Susan) and I embark on our next travel adventure: Korea & Japan!

That being said, those aren’t the only destinations in our itinerary. We had to drive up from Portland to Seattle to catch our flight to Xiamen, China. We purchased a ticket through Xiamen Airlines, which includes an overnight layover. The nice thing though is they provide a free hotel for your overnight stay (which I’m currently typing from, right now. It’s really nice!). The not so nice thing is we also had an unexpected pitstop in Shenzhen, China on our way to Xiamen. Considering our first flight was already 12+ hours, we would’ve gladly wanted to go straight to Xiamen. However, we were required to deplane, “enter China”, then go back through to the gates and await boarding the same plane we had taken from Seattle. All that being said, it was nice that we were able to catch a breath of fresh air and eat some food at the Shenzhen airport. But that also cuts our time in Xiamen even shorter, so that there isn’t time to really get out there and explore.

Not complaining too much though. Susan just graduated from Cornell in May, so this is her celebratory grad trip which I’m tagging along for the ride. :D It’ll be my first time in both Korea and Japan, so I’m super stoked! They have definitely been high on my travel list, and I’m excited to be checking them off with the company of my little sis. Since we have pretty common tastes, we make for good travel buddies whenever we travel overseas.

I’ll keep this nice and short for now. Pretty exhausted from the almost full day of traveling. Happy 4th to those of you who are stateside or otherwise! We won’t be able to catch the fireworks in China this year, but we’re celebrating our independence in our own right. :)
