Hello, there!
Back at it again, so, I'm putting up a call for a roleplay partner. So, here's some info, about me/the way I write:
I'm +21 and prefer to write with people +18, whether there's NSFW themes involved or not.
Currently studying a college degree, therefore I might not always have time to get back right away. However, I do try to be active in all my threads.
Heavily lit/adv lit. The more I'm given to work with, the better. However, I have the tendency to match the other person's reply length and don't mind length long as it offers some insight on the scenario or the character's actions.
Looking for someone who enjoys plotting a lot, as well as making playlists, Pinterest moodboards, memes, etc.
I'm mostly looking for Star Wars rps, specially canon-verse or canon-adjacent. However, I'm very much open to AUs. Here's a list of the things I'd be up to write:
- Obi-Wan Kenobi x Anakin Skywalker (Padawan Au, genderbent AU, canon compliant, fix-it, modern AU...)
- Obi-Wan Kenobi x Satine Kryze (Medieval AU, genderbent AU, modern AU, Mandalorian Civil War timeline, Clone Wars timeline...)
- Obi-Wan Kenobi x Siri Tachi ( Legends Canon, AU, genderbent for f/f...)
- Cal Kestis x Merrin (Canon compliant, modern AU, DnD AU...)
- Quinlan Vos x Obi-Wan Kenobi ( canon compliant, genderbent AU, post-Kenobi show, raising the twins AU...)
- Sabé x Padmé Amidala (canon compliant, medieval AU, modern AU, Jedi!Sabé AU, fix-it...)
- Darth Vader x Obi-Wan Kenobi (canon compliant, fix-its...)
My preferred platform is discord, however, I have done rp through Tumblr some times before. If you're interested, send me a DM!

I Found You In The Shadows of The Lantern Glow
pairing:  Obi-Wan Kenobi/Siri Tachi rating: general audiences word count: 2.9k ao3 • star wars masterlist
Tumblr media
Summary: Carrying the weight of his deception, Obi-Wan Kenobi wanders Theed. Siri Tachi is on a mission, with the added burden of grief. The whole planet of Naboo is celebrating the Festival of Light, its streets overflowing with life, a dazzling spectacle to behold. Nights like this uncover more than just the beauties of the galaxy.
A/N: Story concept inspired by "Green Jade Festival - Lantern Festival” , a poem by Xin Qiji written in the Song dynasty.
眾裏尋他千百度,驀然回首,那人卻在,燈火闌珊處。 «青玉案·元夕» 辛棄疾 A thousand times, I searched for her in the crowds. When all of a sudden, I turned around, And saw her there in the dim lantern light. “Green Jade Festival - Lantern Festival”  Xin Qiji
In one the many rooms of the Theed Royal Palace, two Jedi Masters convened, handling the aftermath of an undercover mission that successfully thwarted a devious Separatist plot to kidnap the Chancellor of the Republic.
“I guess I can’t put this off any longer.” Obi-Wan half-heartedly said, his chuckle uncharacteristically rough and low.
“That is indeed the case. Rako Hardeen’s voice in your body is an unsettling combination, Master Kenobi.” Mace Windu stood to the side of the room, his lips unmistakably curved upwards. Despite his stoic manner and composed temperament, he was unable to hide his amusement towards his colleague’s plight.
Sighing, Obi-Wan moved his wrist towards himself, tapping a few buttons on the screen of his communicator. A hazy blue projection popped up, displaying the words ‘Confirm Voice Modulator Ejection’ in a cool, fluorescent white.
“Well, let’s get this over with.”  He looked over at Master Windu, hoping for some verbal support, only to be met with the same bemused grin.
The moment he hit select, the spider-like modulator began folding out its legs, making Obi-Wan cough at the sudden irritation in his throat. The modulator started its ascent from his larynx, crawling up, its metal claws digging into the walls of his neck. Obi-Wan forced himself to sit down on a chair, choking on the clawing contraption. Even the experience he had with the device when he first swallowed it down did not prepare him for the discomfort of it going out.
“Breathe through your nose, Obi-Wan.” Master Windu called out from where he stood, sympathetic.
Finally, in what felt like an eternity, the modulator fell out of his mouth and onto the floor, leaving Obi-Wan wheezing like a Boonta Eve podracer engine (and pilot) in its wake.
Master Windu placed a hand on Obi-Wan’s shoulder, steadying his reeling form.
Obi-Wan said between pants, “I hope I never have to do this again.”
“Thank the Force you’re not a Shadow, my friend.”
“Bless their souls.” Obi-Wan carefully rose from his chair, holding onto Mace Windu’s arm.
Droids, battlefields and Sith Lords had all wanted to render Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to such a deficient state, but a puny, little voice modulator beat them to it.
Such were the strange contradictions of the galaxy.
Tumblr media
Siri Tachi was on a mission to gather intel on San Hill, the Chairman of the InterGalactic Banking Clan and heavy financial backer of Separatist forces. Her investigation led her to discover unusual monetary transactions between the banking clan and an unnamed party that peculiarly operated out of Naboo. The strangeness did not end there. With further digging, she found that all the assets involved in the exchange could be traced back to an account held by Damask Holdings, a Muunilinst entity that had dissolved years ago.
She managed to identify a broker who frequently worked with Hill. The middleman was native to Naboo, and was back on the planet, apparently for the Festival of Light. Siri found it quite ironic that a man who sold out the Republic for a living would be so committed to the holiday.  Alas, analyzing the complex intricacies of human behavior was not a part of her job, and she followed him all the way to Theed with no further questions.
Siri waited in front of a fruit stall, pretending to check out fresh produce. She picked up a starfruit, but her focus wasn’t on its texture or weight. The stall was conveniently right across a candied Shuura stand, where her target was patiently standing in line. The man sure had a sweet tooth, Siri thought to herself, he’d already had Theed’s signature plasma cloud dessert and a Jogan fruit tart earlier.
Siri loved a good night out, but it was taking an awfully long time for this man to go back home, whose whereabouts Siri was trying to locate. She’d broken into his work office a few days ago, but couldn’t find the documents she was looking for. She figured he probably kept them somewhere closer.
Intel gathering missions normally took a considerable amount of time, and Siri was a forbearing woman, but she didn't like how this assignment was dragging on. This operation had been rough, and it wasn’t because of the nature of the task itself, though Siri wished it was.
She was meeting up with a contact in a seamy bar when she found out.
     "Kenobi's fucking dead!"
"Remind me to give Rako Hardeen a call to congratulate him. Fucking mad lad, that one."
"A Jedi got knocked out by a sniper?"
     "I'll drink to that!"
She remembered the laughter that had erupted, the boasts, the toasts, and the liberal flow of alcohol. She had a front row seat to the celebration of Obi-Wan Kenobi's murder.
She didn’t believe it at first, there was no way that Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Master and General of the Grand Army of the Republic, could have been taken out by something as uncivilized as a blaster shot. That was not a death worthy of a man as insolent as Obi-Wan Kenobi. That was not how her crechemate, her dear friend, was supposed to go. But then she saw it on the Holonews the next day, bold and underlined. It wasn't a headline one could easily miss.
She had swallowed down her emotions upon hearing the confirmation.  She had been in the middle of hacking into a computer terminal and security patrols could have stopped by her floor at any moment, she couldn’t afford to be distracted. It was just her luck that she’d had to find out through a television set left on after hours in an office building.
Even with the restraint of a Jedi, a part of her floated between utter disbelief and grief at the passing of Obi-Wan. Maybe it was because she was so far away from home when she found out, or maybe it was because she didn’t want to accept that he was gone, but the weight of Obi-Wan’s death hadn’t quite sunken in yet. She just wanted to finish up the mission and head back to the Temple. She knew she had to see his grave. His departure had been so sudden and so unthinkable , she needed to see a headstone, an engraving, something tangible , to understand that Obi-Wan Kenobi was truly, irrevocably, one with the force.
Her target happily munched on his candied Shuura. The confection was served on a stick, and the man eagerly rotated and adjusted the skewer to get new bites while ambling along the street. Siri continued trailing him.
Turning into a less busy road that led to more residential parts of Theed, Siri’s wishes were granted, the man was ready to turn in for the night. The pavements became dimmer and eventually began to lead up a hill. Benches lined the trail, occupied by doting couples. She was concerned that she would look out of place in what seemed to be a popular courting spot, but figured if she walked like she knew where she was going, it would appear that she was on her way to an intended destination.
Siri was thirty meters behind the dealer when he stopped at the top of the hill. Siri saw him crouch next to a tree, his bent form outlined by the glow of a lantern hanging from a branch, seemingly to catch his breath. She noted his unfit state and filed this piece of information away in a corner of her mind. Must be all the desserts, she considered.
By the time she reached the hilltop, the man was a quarter of the way along the trail that led downhill. There were less people on this path, and she figured continuing her pursuit would raise the man’s suspicions. She’d seen him glance backwards a few times, though not at her specifically. She had a pretty good view of the rows of houses beneath the hill from up here anyway. All she had to do to find his address was to keep an eye on him as he walked back to his house, a simple affair.
Hopefully, she would find the papers and contracts in his home tomorrow afternoon, then she’d be well on her way back to Coruscant by nightfall. She blinked away a few stray emotions at the thought of returning to the Temple. She wanted this mission to end, and she wanted to go home, but home wasn’t going to feel the same now, not anymore.
Siri leaned her arm against the tree. To any observer, it would look like she was admiring Theed’s nighttime cityscape. Standing in the shadow of a lantern's glow, she watched and waited.
Tumblr media
Senator Padme Amidala had kindly invited the Jedi to join the official celebrations for the Festival of Light, extending their stay on Naboo.  Mace Windu took pity on Obi-Wan for having to suffer through an excruciating voice modulator extraction, and offered to complete his administrative duties for him, giving him a well-deserved night off. Thus, Obi-Wan Kenobi found himself with a rare commodity in his hands, free time.
If one finds themselves in Theed during the Festival of Light, a spectacular commemoration of Naboo joining the Galactic Republic, not taking the opportunity to revel in the festivities would be a crime against merriment, and Obi-Wan was far from a criminal.
Strolling through a buzzing crowd, he reached into the force, feeling it hum with joy and happiness. The streets of Theed were teeming with life. Vendors set up shop along the roads, glow sticks and other festive ephemera brightly on display. Children ran after each other with their lanterns, the masses no barrier to their chase. Teenagers chattered in loud groups, exuding an air of wannabe maturity and jaunty spirit mixed with a sweeping undercurrent of angst, enjoying the prerogative of youth. They brought Obi-Wan back to his adolescence, which seemed to get further and further away with each passing day. He pondered when he had gotten so old. A small family walked by him, the parents carrying an infant, and Obi-Wan saw the little one’s eyes wide open in bewilderment, surely experiencing the magic of the festival for the first time.
No building was left undecorated, and festive streamers flowed down from every beam. The city was a kaleidoscope, and every turn of Obi-Wan's head revealed a different beauty. There was much to do, and plenty to admire.
The night sky was a flurry of colors. A mild East wind brushed past, and lanterns hanging from rooftops and tree branches swayed along its gentle current. Candle light flickered with the breeze’s delicate touch, causing the vibrant hues of the ornate lanterns to radiate outwards into a warm, fuzzy glow. The clacking of horses’ hooves blended in with the cheers of passersby as lavish carriages rolled across cobblestone, trailing behind handsome steeds. The notes of the flute danced brilliantly through the air, twirling and twisting, gracefully singing a Naboo folk song. A glimmering pearl revolved in midnight blue. The full moon shone brilliantly above the city.
The Naboo were known for their impeccable style, and tonight proved to Obi-Wan that it was no lie. Ladies dressed up to the nines walked the streets, draped in rich satin and decadent velvet. They adorned their hair in jade clips and ruby Millaflowers, its subtle fragrance following their laughter that echoed off tan walls.
The night was dazzling, yet Obi-Wan found himself drawn to the little things that hid behind the elaborate. He spied a dusty alleyway filled with old trinkets and skulking Loth cats, out on a prowl for dinner; a woman on a third-storey balcony was clipping wet clothes onto a clothing line, muttering something under her breath while sporadically casting disapproving glances into her apartment. Obi-Wan thought he saw a story there.
Walking further down the road, it began to take on a gentle gradient, and the crowds became thinner. Few lights lined the ascending path, and it could well be considered unilluminated compared to Theed’s main street. However, the darkness was not a deterrent, in fact, it may have been favored, as couples sat on dainty benches along the lane, exchanging whispers and shy blushes in the comfort of privacy gifted by the night.
Obi-Wan stood at the start of the trail, looking up to scan the small hill. Naboo’s climate was well suited to vegetation, and he imagined its grass covering to be a lush, verdant green under daylight. If he had time tomorrow, maybe he would come out here again and appreciate the knoll in its morning glory. It was an interesting sight to see in Theed, which was built mostly on flat terrain.
Obi-Wan’s glance reached the top of the hill. There, a single tree stood, the king of the mountain. Its leaves rustled in the wind, and its firm branches curled upwards into a crown.
Out of a sudden, he stopped his perusal, his vision zeroing in on an inclined figure beneath the tree. Opening up his senses, he felt a familiar signature hovering in the force. It was faint, but he recognized it immediately. After all, it wasn’t one he could easily forget.
Under the faint light of a lone lantern, Obi-Wan saw a wisp of blonde hair. He blinked a few times and took a second look to check that his eyes were not deceiving him. They weren’t, it was the undeniable outline of the person he held dear.
There, far away from the crowds and the action, standing on a dimly lit hilltop, was Siri Tachi.
Council members were, reasonably, not privy to every ongoing operation in the Order. Obi-Wan had not expected to find Siri in Theed during the Festival of Lights. His face fell when he realized that the last time they spoke was through a brief comcall a week before he transformed himself into Rako Hardeen. Obi-Wan’s faked death had spread like wildfire, especially among the more objectionable circles that pestered the galaxy. His heart clenched at the thought of the news reaching Siri, who likely would have been in character on a mission. That wasn’t how he’d hoped the person he cared deeply about to find out about his demise, and it pained him that he had probably put her through more emotional turmoil in already precarious circumstances.
Obi-Wan stayed planted to the spot, unsure of what to do next. He wondered if going to her and opening up with a simple ‘Hello there’ would be appropriate, though an apology would probably be better suited. People thought dead turning up alive again were generally not met with warm hugs or pure elation. Shock, confusion, then a rightfully deserved angry tirade would likely be his fate if he did approach her, Anakin had served him the same dish prior.
Siri’s presence was calming to Obi-Wan, its familiarity was grounding, and carrying the weight of his deception on his shoulders, Obi-Wan needed the solace. As much as he wanted to stay in her presence a little longer, even without her knowing, Obi-Wan knew that walking away would make a wiser choice. He wanted nothing more than to see his friend again, to show her that he was alright, but that would be selfish of him. This wasn’t the right time or place to deal with the elephant in the room that was his status of being. This setting wasn’t conducive to delivering a tasteful exposé, the kind of reveal that Siri deserved.
He took in Siri’s form one more time, her frame illuminated by a soft, golden glow of a lantern. To him, her stance aired strength and focus, two qualities that always left Obi-Wan enamored.
Just as he was ready to leave, the figure on top of the hill turned to his direction. He remained where he was, unable to move away, transfixed by a silhouette’s stare.
They couldn’t see each other’s faces, but they were sure their eyes met.
Out of the blue, in dim light and haze, Lost lovers stood, entranced in their gaze. They found each other, to have not to hold, In the faint shadows of the lantern glow.

Summary: A time traveling Grandmaster, to the Prequel Era, trying to fix the mistakes the Jedi made, and get rid of a certain Sith too. Only Time Travel is not that easy, as Yoda will soon learn.

I added a new chapter of Time Travel: To the Past Yoda Goes. Below is a small selection. Go to the links above to read more.
Chapter 55 - Clues
“Ooh, this is good news.” Obi-Wan announced.
Siri cocked her head to look at him.
“The council approved the mission to Niro,” Obi-Wan elaborated.  “And they’ve appointed Anakin and I..  Oh, hold on.”  He paused to continue reading.  “Us and Master Jinn’s team.  A joint assignment, hmm.”  Obi-Wan was tempted to go into self doubt here, wondering if they assigned him to the mission with his former master because they were doubting his abilities.
“I’m sure they just know how good of a team you two are.  They are hoping some of it will rub off on your padawans.” Siri seemed to read his hesitation.
“Yeah, I’m sure that’s what it is.”  Obi-Wan accepted.
“Alex is here now, helping Anakin put something up in his room.  If you want to tell the boys now…”
“Yes, I think I will.”
“I will be taking my Padawan out to train then.  I’ll see you tonight.” Siri kissed him, then turned towards Kent’s room.
Obi-Wan got up from the computer desk and walked towards his Padawan’s room.  Then he stopped.
Behind the door, he could hear arguing.  “No.  I said Left a little more,” Anakin insisted.
“But if you go left, it won’t be in the light,” Alex returned.
“I want to see it from the bed!” Anakin bossed him back.
Obi-Wan could feel Alex roll his eyes from behind the door.  Maybe the council was right to assign this as a joint mission after all.  His Anakin could be a bit type A, and that would create conflict if he didn’t learn how to work with his peers.  Obi-Wan knocked on the door.
There was a pause inside, where both boys looked up in surprise.  Then a moment later, Anakin opened the door.
“Hello boys, I have some news for you…” Obi-Wan paused.  His mouth left open in shock when he saw the exact poster both boys were putting up on the wall.
“Master?”  Anakin almost waved his hands in front of Obi-Wan’s face.
Obi-Wan blinked.  After all, his Padawan was thirteen.  It was only natural that he’d show interest in these things.  Sure, they’d need to talk about all of that, but it was a conversation for another day.  Of course, even though most teens in the temple would love a poster like this one, few could be found inside of Temple walls, leading to one question…
“Where did you get that?”  Obi-Wan pointed up at the image.
“Master Jinn.  Do you hate it?”  Anakin asked.
“No.  No,” He denied.  “We’ll have to have a talk about it, Master Jinn and I.  Anyways, come on out to the living room and I have some news for you.”  Obi-Wan glanced up one last time at the feminine frame of the Naboo royal, then he shut the door as he followed the boys out.  His Master sure would be hearing about this.

QuinObi Fic Rec List
QuinObi week isn't until October, but like I did last year, I wanted to drop some of my favorite QuinObi fics to get y'all excited! This list is not exhaustive, just a starter, but I hope you'll enjoy!
Hush by @violentcheese: a gorgeous Padawan first kiss fic! Made me a bit teary, tbh.
Don't Waste Your Treat by @ninjigma: Obi-Wan and Quinlan are on a diplomatic mission. They bicker over a popsicle and are very into each other. This fic had me sweating. <3
Flu Season by @coruscantrhapsody: Padawan Obi-Wan has a huge crush on Quin (which is definitely returned). A QuinObi Week 2023 fic by my bestie
Reach For My Hand by jelucan: Quinlan was presumed dead but it turns out he wasn't. He and Obi-Wan wander through Coruscant and have feelings. This is one of my personal fave fics for these two.
With a Little Help From My Friends by @palfriendpatine66: Quin, Obi-Wan, and Siri are best-friends-with-benefits. A piece from last year's QuinObi week that I adored!
On Your Best Behavior by wanderingjedihistorian: Obi-Wan and Quinlan accidentally get married on a mission. Why not have a wedding night?
To Our Halcyon Days by @lothcatthree and @krispyscreams: Obi-Wan and Quin reunite during the empire when Quin finds out their son Cal is alive. A great and super romantic multi-chapter!!
Shaking From Holding You Back by @ashinaburrito: Obi-Wan rips Tarkin a new one when he's rude to Cody, and Quinlan thinks that's hot. Smut ensues in a closet.
Counting to Coruscant by @fanfic-phoenix. This whole series is WONDERFUL and has everything from Padawan Obi-Wan and Quinlan to their lives during the war (and the moments of romance they're able to snag) to the aftermath of Rako Hardeen. Super super recommend!
Red and Orange Beacons Go Forth by @ashinaburrito: Quinlan gets caught in a psychometric vision and Aayla calls Obi-Wan for help.
Betrayal by @brachiosaurus-on: Obi-Wan and Quinlan reunite in the OWK show era. Beautiful, Beatiful fic.
Ride Around the Moon for a Velvet Kiss by blackkat: Snarky and wonderfully in character smut set during the Clone Wars.
Stumbling on the Way Home by CapGirlCanuck: a comics based one-shot that pays homage to Obi-Wan and Quinlan's long friendship. Lovely.
The Beach by @lilywhoisapotato: Stranded on an uninhabited planet, Obi-Wan blames himself for their predicament. Luckily, Quinlan knows how to cheer him up.
Liability by KCKenobi: Quinlan takes care of Obi-Wan after Qui-Gon's death.
Everything They Shouldn't Be by @noncanonship: After Obi-Wan's Starfighter suffers an unplanned fall out of hyperspace, he finds himself stranded near Karfeddion, exactly where Quinlan Vos is on a longterm undercover mission. Obi-Wan intends to avoid Quinlan in order to protect his cover, but the Force has other plans.
I'm going to be annoying and include a few of my own QuinObi fics (there are many because I love these two but I won't list them all):
Kill the Lights: Fix-it that centers on changing the Fives incident in TCW. Quinlan searches for a captive Obi-Wan with Anakin, Padme, and the Jedi's help. Featuring huge amounts of QuinObi (with lore I created based lightly off the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, but happier in the end).
Blood Makes Noise: My QuinObi-centric AIDS Crisis AU set in 80s/90s New York.
After the War (Part the First): It's Quinlan who goes on the Rako Hardeen mission.
After the War (Part the Second): Obi-Wan and Quin reunite via the Hidden Path
Always a Little in Love: Post-Geonosis. Quinlan bursts into Obi-Wan's room to yell at him for almost getting killed. Obi-Wan wants to forget about the war in it's infancy. Feelsy smut ensues.
Forty Years of Knowing: Obi-Wan and Quin commit to each other and extremely tender smut happens. Set in my RoTS fix-it verse but can be read on it's own.
Shoulder the Sky Verse: My RoTS Fix-It verse, including the initial RoTS AU of the same name, and it's sequel, Whispers from the Dead, as well as several one-shots. STS features QuinObi friends-with-benefits-to-exclusivity and WFTD has them in a committed relationship (and said relationship is a big part of the fic).

I've got a lot of complicated feelings on Jude Watson's writing in Star Wars, both positive and negative, but occasionally something she writes just... hits. And this quote? This fucking HITS.
This is from Secrets of the Jedi, the novel that discusses Siri and Obi-Wan's romantic relationship that has now been de-canonized. This particular scene is after their relationship has been discovered and they're breaking up in order to remain Jedi because they've been told they cannot do both.
But the line that hits me the most is Siri saying "I was so afraid of what lay ahead that I wanted to let go of my own will" because... WOW. Wow is that Star Wars to its core. That is literally EXACTLY what Anakin and Padme do in their own relationship, Anakin in particular. It's his FEAR of the future, even one that might not even happen, that causes him to let go of his own will and do things he KNOWS are wrong just to try to prevent it. Padme ignores a lot of her own boundaries and morals and better judgment in order to be in a relationship with Anakin. She lets go of the fact that Anakin makes her uncomfortable, she lets go of the fact that Anakin straight-up claims he's a fascist, she lets go of Anakin massacring the Tuskens. If we take TCW into account, then she also lets go of Anakin's possessiveness and sexist demands as well as the fact that he SCARES her sometimes and nearly beats a man to death in order to punish her for what he believed to be a lack of fidelity on her part. She lets go of a LOT of her own will in order to love Anakin.
And Siri asks the question afterwards, is that what love is? Obi-Wan doesn't have a response, but I think the novel does have a stance on the issue. It's a little muddied by a lack of understanding of what attachment is, but I think the answer within Star Wars itself is that this ISN'T what love is. This is what love can LEAD to if you allow it to do so, and it's not an uncommon thing to happen, but this isn't actually love itself. This is what ATTACHMENT is. This is the precise definition of attachment, this fear of what MIGHT happen to something that makes you feel good that it causes you to give up your own will in order to keep it and avoid the feeling of loss. But love is selfless, love is compassion, love is about letting go of your own desires in order to prioritize someone else's happiness.
And within this exact same novel, we actually see a perfect example of this kind of love, showcased through Qui-Gon and the way he feels about Obi-Wan. They're separated partway through the story and Qui-Gon is constantly thinking about how much he misses Obi-Wan and wishes Obi-Wan were with him, but he's capable of recognizing that their mission could save many lives from being lost and that's more important than his desire to be with someone he cares about. There's a moment where Qui-Gon discovers that Obi-Wan is in some kind of danger and he has to choose between trying to rescue Obi-Wan or continuing on with his mission, he CANNOT do both. In his thoughts, he recognizes that losing Obi-Wan would be devastatingly painful, equally as painful as losing Tahl had been, but he still chooses to continue with the mission because there are TWENTY lives on the line and his love for Obi-Wan cannot cost those twenty people their lives. THIS is what love looks like, THIS is genuine selfless compassion for another person. And nothing in the novel ever condemns Qui-Gon for how he feels about Obi-Wan or indicates that he needs to change or end his relationship with Obi-Wan, but it also doesn't shy away from showing just how deeply Qui-Gon DOES care for Obi-Wan.
And while I can believe Siri and Obi-Wan's feelings for each other were genuine, it turns into a selfish attachment VERY quickly. They nearly immediately decide to start living a lie and wanting to change an entire culture just so they can have something they want, despite the fact that Siri at least says that these rules exist for a reason. Their personal happiness becomes more important than anything else momentarily. They both claim that they'll be able to do their duty still, that they'll be able to balance both, but they're also both very ready to deceive other people who care about them in order to keep this thing that makes them feel good. The hurt they are willing to cause to others is small, but it's also something that could continue to grow and snowball into something more and more selfish. What happens when they can't see each other for a really long time and start to get desperate to find a way to be together? What happens when the lies start piling up and cause misunderstandings in their other relationships? The more they cling to each other, the more willing they will be to do the next selfish thing until eventually those selfish choices stop being so small.
This is what attachment does, this is the danger of that kind of love. It's not that all love is always like this, but just that this is an incredibly common thing to happen, especially in romantic relationships. Siri and Obi-Wan literally get to the point of losing their sense of self and their own will INCREDIBLY quickly because neither of them wants to have to make a choice because they're too afraid of losing either their relationship OR their status as Jedi. But, inevitably, they HAVE to choose. They would always have had to choose, regardless of how long the lie lasted or whether it was even discovered at all.
But love does not HAVE to be like this. Love does not inevitably steal your sense of self or your willingness to make your own decisions. It is absolutely possible to have a healthy love that does none of those things and this novel 100% shows that. Just because Obi-Wan and Siri's feelings for each other are genuine does not automatically make them selfless or free of attachment. And while I have my issues with this novel and the way it handles this storyline, including the fact that I'm like 85% sure that this isn't the intended message, I really like what it says about what selfish love can do to you and the way it subtly shows what true selfless love can look like.

This is about modern AUs and fic settings and what is FUN for them, not about your favorite ship. I repeat: You are not voting for your favorite ship overall.
I REPEAT: You are not voting for an endgame ship. The new romance is with an unrelated person.
Do not comment with any ship hate. This is for fun and shenanigans and ribbing each other in good humor. Do I ship all of these? No. Do I think those ships I don't personally go hunting for are bad? Also no. We are all just here to play around with words and pixels on a screen.
"Why did you do the bolding and the red?" I do a lot of polls for fun and you would not believe the number of tags and comments I get with "oh I didn't read the question and voted wrong."

@ anon with the lovely hospital AU, apologies for the delay i was chewing on this for a couple days haha there's a whole season of grey's anatomy primetime soap worthy material. i love how fully you've filled out the AU with characters and unspooled all the drama. i can see why it would be difficult to write, it does have a big scope of imagination there. thank you for sharing it with meeeeeee
for everyone 700 words of lovely obikin hospital AU worldbuilding, continued beneath the cut!!
Shmi is a renowned heart surgeon. Best there is in the country (not just the state thank you very much) and she did it all while her son was young. Her grandmother (Grandma Mira) and her two cousins (Peli Moto and Beru Whitesun ) both helped her out a ton. She is admired and Skywalker is a name very well known in medical circles.
She decided to became a heart surgeon when her own mother (insert name here) died from a heart issue that no one wanted to touch surgically. Anakin was 9 years old. Anakin has his mom up on a pedestal - she is perfect and smart, the best surgeon, the best mom, she’s done it all. Anakin feels the pressure to be just as good as his mom. People expect him to be just as brilliant and successful as his mother. He expects it from himself. Shmi just wants him to be happy. Anakin is ready to start his residency at 25. His mother is in line to be chief of surgery at the hospital she works at (Twin Suns Medical Center). Its considered the hospital to intern at if you want your specialty to be heart surgery. Anakin isn’t really sure what he wants to specialize in, and he doesn’t want people to say that he got it easy during his internship. So he goes to the next best thing (it’s actually the number one hospital overall in the country but to Anakin is second to the hospital where shmi works because Shmi works there). He goes to Jedi Coruscant General Hospital. Chief Executive officer (in charge of whole hospital) : Breha Organa Chief of Surgery : Bail Organa (general surgeon) Brain Surgeon (top brain guy in the country) : Obi-Wan Kenobi 4th year resident: Padme Amidala (Anakin’s assigned resident) Heart Surgeon: Mace Windu Trauma Surgeon: Shaak Ti Pediatric Surgeon: Plo Koon Neonatal Surgeon: Siri Tachi Plastic Surgeon: Quinlan Vos Orthopedic Surgeon: Qui-Gon Jinn Head of the hospital board: Mon Mothma Cancer surgeon: Jocosta Nu Eye Surgeon: Dooku Vascular Surgeon: Wolffe Yoda - retired chief of surgery and general surgeon Anakin’s cohort: Aayla, Ferus Olin, Rex, Jesse, Echo, Fives 4th Year Residents: Sabe, Clovis, Bly 5th year residents: Depa Billaba, Bultar Swan, Cody Anakin’s running late on his first day, in the parking lot he’s too distracted trying to make sure he has everything in his bag that he bumps into a red head and spills the red head’s hot tea all of his shirt. “shit. Fuck. Sorry. Sorry.” Keeps walking but turns around to walk backwards to meet the really pretty blue eyes of the definitely pissed off red head “I owe you. I’ll bring you a … a coffee? Was it coffee during lunch. Sorry!” Ferus Olin, a childhood nemesis makes his appearance. He’s assigned to be Padme’s intern (the woman who gave him back his engagement ring when he was 22 and 27. He hadn’t realized she was back in town and that maybe it was purposeful that he didn’t know). Its turning out to be a truly shit day and then the pretty red head from the parking lot makes his appearance and anakin wants to sink into the ground. But. The red head picks him to help him with a surgery. … Its pretty much a grey’s anatomy AU. Obi-Wan and anakin start hooking up pretty much immediately. Ferus Olin and Anakin make nice and turn out to be pretty decent friends. Then. Anakin realizes that Padme had kids, with him. The twins. And never told him. 🤯. That’s smoothed over. He’s a dad now. He loves it. Obi-Wan’a supportive. Their secret relationship is starting to not be so secret anymore. Then. obi-wan’s ex wife (Satine Kryze) pop in with a kid. obi-wan’s kid. Obi-Wan never told him that he’d been married or that he had a kid. They break up. Anakin thinks about quitting. Then about transferring. Then gets side tracked because Aunt Beru (his mom’s cousin) got married and her husband’s dad was in a bad car crash. Its all hands on deck to save his life. Shmi makes an appearance at the hospital and Obi-Wan realizes that Anakin is Shmi’s son 🤯 Owen’s dad makes it. Anakin and Obi-Wan make up. Their relationship is outted but everything works out. There’s other small and big dramas but thats pretty much it lol

After sooo long I've finally finished the sixth chapter of my modern au anidala fic, yay!
I wish I could have gotten it out month's ago tbh. I originally wanted to post this chapter in February, unfortunately for me and my ability to write, I had to deal with some persistent mental health issues first and then I unintentionally got hooked on all these web novels that are advertised everywhere on social media. Both of which interfered with my writing process and when I did actually sit down to write, I would get frustrated because it just didn't want to come out right. So after several long months, I'm pretty happy with the final product.
Below is just a quick sneak peek
The reception was held at Hotel Monaco located across the street from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Satine had once again shown an exquisite taste fordesign upon entering the beautifully decorated ballroom. The ballroom was a display of class and elegance that was pure Satine. Even the food was perfect. Padme had chosen the fish option and she was dying for the recipe so she could try it out herself some time. She was busy twirling the stem of her wineglass as she watched Obi-Wan and Satine dance with Jinney between them, already a picturesque little family, when someone sat down next to her.
“Some wedding, huh?”
Padme turned to her right to see Anakin sitting next to her. He had chosen the steak. “Satine has an excellent eye,” she said.
“I think it’s got just as much of Obi-Wan’s taste,” Anakin countered, taking a bite of potato. “I didn’t know you were in the bridal party.”
“I’m surprised no one mentioned it to you,” Padme said.
“I think they were afraid to,” Anakin commented, leaning in and holding her gaze with his mesmerizing stare. “Remember when Obi-Wan married Siri?”
“I was thinking about that earlier. I remember you making faces behind his back,” she replied.
“I was an obnoxious punk. Obi-Wan saw what I was doing anyway,” he recalled. “Besides, you thought I was funny,” he said, nudging her shoulder playfully.
“I think you’re an asshole,” she told him playfully, stealing one of his potatoes just as he speared a piece of her fish with his fork.
“Damn that’s good fish,” he said.
“I was just thinking about getting the recipe,” Padme informed him conspiratorially.
“Split?” he asked, holding his plate up and raising an eyebrow.
Padme rolled her eyes at him but split up their respective meals in order to share. “You clean up nice by the way,” she told him softly.
“All I did was shave and comb my hair,” he said modestly. “You, however,” his eyes raked over her appreciatively. “Look amazing.”
Check it out on both Ao3 and fanfiction.net.

Tumblr media
Obi-Wan Kenobi cradled the swaddled infant against his chest as he patiently waited to board a public transport bound for his chosen destination: the remote planet of Tatooine.
Once there he would turn the care of the infant over to the only family he possessed before seeking a place nearby where he could keep an eye on the boy.
Watching and waiting for the time when his training would begin.
Obi-Wan did his best to keep the infant quiet and content. As Luke continued to slumber peacefully in his arms, he figured he must be doing something right.
He freely admitted he lacked experience in caring for ones as small as Luke. There had never been any need for him to interact with the younglings in the Temple nursery and no time once he became a Jedi Knight.
His own youth had been spent alongside his best friends, Garen, Bant, Reeft, Kali, and Siri. The bonds they formed as they prepared for their Initiate Trials lasted them into their adulthood.
Until death separated them.
A fresh spurt of grief rolled through Obi-Wan as he recalled the friends he lost since the start of the Clone Wars.
Siri died on Azure.
Garen on Acherin.
Bant somewhere in the Purge.
He had no idea if Reeft managed to avoid the fate that had befallen so many of the others. He also didn’t dare reach out through his and Kali’s bond to ascertain if she was still among the living.
He feared what the answer might be.
How many Jedi heard his warning and stayed away from the Temple, Obi-Wan did not know.
All he could do was hope that even a small number of others survived and managed to go into hiding.
To watch and wait for when it was time for the Jedi to return and defend the galaxy once again.
A Yarkora squeezed by him.
Obi-Wan instinctively tightened his hold on Luke while watching as they made their way through the throng of travelers to an empty seat.
Trust was a commodity he could no longer afford. Not when Luke’s life was the one that would be jeopardized if he chose to trust the wrong individual.
A quick scan of the spaceport revealed a three-eyed Gran whispering to an Ishi Tib in a small alcove.
A pinprick of alarm shot through him when their eyes cut in his direction. He didn’t relax until transport security walked by the duo and their gazes followed after them.
Luke stretched and yawned, immediately drawing Obi-Wan’s gaze. A momentary envy at his peace and contentment filled Obi-Wan.
Another luxury he could not afford.
Not while they remained on a place appropriately nicknamed The Smuggler’s Moon.

(Send me a book emoji and I’ll share a fanfic I daydream about but haven’t written)
This one has lived rent-free in my head for about seven years. It started out as “What if Anakin got Winter Soldiered” and ended up as a sort-of fix-it where Anakin gets rescued from his mind-controlled state and ends up blabbing on Palpatine’s schemes to the Jedi Council which triggers an AU where the Republic wins.
I call this my “ROTS MCU AU” because after I came up with the Winter Soldier Anakin idea, I was like “haha Samuel L. Jackson” and also found out Scarlett Johansson is a common faceclaim for Siri Tachi. At this point I decided this fic, should it ever get written, must involve gratuitous MCU references. Mace Windu loses an eye in the last standoff with Palpatine. Anakin at some point tells the Council “Palpatine was planning to take over the galaxy right in front of us and we never noticed!” And Yoda says “Having this discussion in a bunker, we are. Noticed, we did.”
I haven’t written this because:
It is long and would be a huge undertaking (crummy excuse but I never said all my reasons were good)
I mostly hang out in the TCW side of the prequel era and writing about the Jedi and their ins and outs is kind of foreign territory to me.
There are also certain plot points I haven’t figured out, like how anyone could manage to get around Palpatine and what Padme is doing through all this.
I was afraid of getting pro/anti/whatever-Jedi criticism, because you can’t write a fic like this without setting off at least one of those land mines. Really, I steer clear of writing Jedi-centric stuff for this reason. Now that AO3 has mute and block functions, plus I’m old and caring less about people’s opinions by the day, I might get brave enough to write it anyway.
I want it to be good. Obviously. But like, REALLY good, not something I would half-@$$ in between loads of laundry and tutoring clients and breaking up sibling fights. My ideal version of this story would be simultaneously the most devastating and funniest thing you’ve ever read. Because that’s something I love about both Star Wars and Marvel.
If nothing else, I want to write a snippet or two of this for Whumptober.
