#sing character colour theory

given how the other characters got a change in their outfits to signify their growth/the passage of time (like how Ash wears more red to show how much bolder she's become), what new clothes could you imagine Porsha and Nooshy wearing in Sing 3?
I'm not sure that Nooshy would change in style to be honest. She seems comfortable with how she is now and I think that's the most authentic version of her character. She wouldn't really need to change clothes to capture that. Maybe a new hoodie or leggings but nothing big. If any colour change, I'm leaning towards it being fuchcia from her current lime green.
Porsha however, would almost definitely have a major costume change. I think there would probably be much less blues and whites in her clothes as those are her father's primary colours. It would be interesting to see what colour scheme would be played on symbolically though I am leaning towards yellows and greens probably being used. I also think we probably would lose the vintage shirt as it's mentioned that her dad was a fan but never her herself (if I'm remembering that right) and it was likely just a way to get his approval. So there would almost definitely be a change in the shirt and I do think the jacket would at least change colours, if not get replaced. It would be cool if her sunglasses that seem reminiscent of the Crystals that decorate the building are now more moon shaped or something like that to show her new affiliation with the troupe.
Colour Symbolism Explained:
Lime Green: Confidence, Adventurous, and Youth.
Fuchsia: Energizing, Fun-Loving, and Bold.
Yellow: Joy, Enthusiasm, and Originality
Green: Hope, Prosperity, and Luck

Miguel’s Reaction to You Taking Him to Watch The Barbie Movie
Tumblr media
Warnings: Mainly Just Miguel Being Defensive, Mild Hurt/Comfort, Miguel Secretly Being a Barbie Girl, No Pronouns Used for Reader Except ‘You’.
Miguel loves you. So, so much. And he would move Heaven and Earth to ensure even an ounce of your happiness.
However, he is 100% convinced that this excursion, this ‘girls’ day out’, will be anything more than a mind-numbing jaunt to the cinema.
At first.
He can’t deny that his heart sank and all enthusiasm he held for your date drained from his body the second you said the words ‘Barbie’ and ‘Movie’ in the same sentence.
But alas, he swallowed his dismay and took you out, plastering on a thin smile while he thought of a million and one things you could both be doing besides watching this masterclass in colour theory.
Sat beside you, packed in on either side by yourself and the many other attendees, waiting for the film to begin, Miguel can feel his patience trying to escape, trying to convince him to run, to get out while you still can!
Because of his heightened senses, he can hear every single word passing between the crowd. And with every mention of “Pink”, “Ryan Gosling,” and “Margot Robbie!” he can feel his mind numb.
The film starts. And for you, sending a watery smile your way, while your eyes sparkle with nostalgic wonder, he endures.
Five minutes in, Miguel is assaulted by pink. The very essence of the colour and all its vibrancy sends hot pink pain through his skull, his senses raw.
Quietly, he slips his sunglasses on.
This is going to be a long movie.
And, for the first quarter of the film, Miguel held that notion. Near and dear as if it were the antidote to the current situation.
Then, halfway in, the story started to intrigue him.
The colour scheme is…tolerable now. Even pleasing to the eye in some scenes.
And, dare he say, Miguel found the music to be catchy.
Two thirds in and he’s sat forward in his seat, hands clasped and his lips resting atop them. Not that you can see, but his eyes are blown wide, his mind arace with possible outcomes.
By the end of the film, Miguel’s holding your hand, forehead pressed to your shoulder, a single, silent tear illustrating his cheek.
“Miggy?” you say, leaning over to try and see his face. You recognised the singular jutting of his shoulders immediately. And, with a smile teetering on the edges of your lips, you try to console him.
“Mig–”
“S’nothing. M’fine,” His cut-off is blunt and non-negotiable. You drop the subject and escort him from the screening by his arm, the music bright as the credits roll. The dimness of the room gives way to light, gradually, slowly. The streak of Miguel’s tear glistens.
Miguel’s visceral reaction to Barbie’s movie doesn’t stop when you get home, by the way.
It actually gets worse.
If you’re lucky, you can catch Miguel reading articles on his phone, an unmistakably pink banner and the title of ‘Top 10 Things You Missed in The Barbie Movie!’ leaving little to the imagination.
Confronting him about it will lead you nowhere. Miguel will sooner shove his phone up his ass and pretend it never existed than admit that he is indeed curious as to what happened to that one background character who fell off a cliff in that one scene. Is she okay? Does anybody know where she is? Does her family know?
The fact that you find his curiosity (empathy) endearing, ‘Aww’ing at him and pinching his cheeks, makes him ever the more secretive.
Just about secretive enough to keep his volume to a minimum when he’s singing; tunes which you know are from the soundtrack.
“I’m a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world~”
“Babe, what was th–”
“Nothing.” He’s blunt, but there is haste to his tone. Shame, even.
Occasionally, you’ll see him eyeing up Barbie-themed merch when you’re out shopping. But he never makes a move to purchase any. Not for himself, anyway.
He’ll buy you said merch – anything that catches your eye, your fancy. Even if it is a shirt ten sizes too big.
“Babe,” you say, pinching the shirt up at your shoulders, the fabric in enough excess to cause the neck to expose most of your chest. “I may be wrong here, but I’m fairly certain only you would be able to fit in this shirt.”
“Oh, well, guess I’ll just have to take it off your hands, then,” he says, his elation barely concealed behind his faux-disappointment. As if him doing so is a chore – that he’s doing you the favour by taking the garment whose shoulders could only fit his insane proportions.
Please just buy him the merch. Any shame he may feel upon initially receiving it will fade when he realises – when you reinforce – how his liking of Barbie is “Adorable, yes. But uplifting; it’s so relieving to see that you’ve found something you actually like that isn’t to do with the Spiderverse!”
“It’s actually called the–”
“Yeah, I don’t care, Babe.”
His favourite present you ever got him was a brightly-coloured exercise suit Barbie and Ken wore in the movie. He had to turn away, the fabric neon in his periphery, tears filling his eyes and balling in his throat when he saw that you’d bought a matching one.
“So we can fight crime in style!”
Miguel’s watery smile twitched, faltered. His Brow furrowed.
“Wait, what’s that supposed to mean?” he said. “You don’t think my suit’s fashionable?”
The way your face drained was enough to spark laughter in Miguel’s chest. His only line of defence against the tears that pricked his throat, played him like an instrument, with you as the orchestra’s master.
While he can’t wear the suit out on superhero duty, he does keep the headband on beneath the suit.
A reminder of you when he’s throwing himself at every threat, every monster, every evil, the band a halo hugged to his skin; a slim substitute for your warm touch, your scent, but a reminder all the same.

Baraqiel and Azazel
Disclaimer: DO NOT ask Neil Gaiman to confirm or deny any of this. He doesn't want you to ask. I don't want you to ask.
SO DON'T ASK.
Edit: Neil confirmed this theory and it's not my fault: see the reblog
Now, on with the meta.
Tumblr media
Thesis and evidence below the cut:
Dominion...
Tumblr media
Angel of the Sky...
Tumblr media
Hair an eye-burning ginger, eyebrows like grisly slugs, often draped in red…
Tumblr media
Occasionally damp...
Tumblr media
Most likely singed…
Tumblr media
Most likely singed…
Tumblr media
Most likely singed…
Tumblr media
Most likely singed…
Tumblr media
So that's everything from purely within Good Omens canon.
Baraqiel is described, additionally, in the Book of Enoch as:
Lord of Lightning
Tumblr media
Who taught the forbidden knowledge of astronomy:
Tumblr media
He is also the overseer of the Second Heaven, wherein lies the prison of Fallen Angels. More on that later.
The story of Baraqiel’s ejection from Heaven is contained in the Book of Enoch, but he’s not a main character. In fact, he’s only one of twenty major fallen angels, specifically, the ninth. The tenth is Azazel.
Who, then, is Azazel?
Firstly, Azazel is a fallen angel:
Tumblr media
Who is damned because he introduces humans to forbidden knowledge, specifically, the knowledge of swords [and other devices of warfare]:
Tumblr media
And also the knowledge of adornment, specifically, “the art of making up the eyes, and of beautifying the eyelids, and the most precious stones, and all kinds of coloured dyes.”
Tumblr media
And insofar as Azazel is synonymous with Azzael, he denounces the authority of the Metatron:
Tumblr media
In fact, Azazel is given all the blame for revealing the secrets of Heaven: “the whole Earth has been ruined by the teaching of the works of Azazel; and against him write: ALL SIN.”
and God orders Raphael punish Azazel: “And further the Lord said to Raphael: "Bind Azazel by his hands and his feet and throw him into the darkness. And split open the desert, which is in Dudael, and throw him there.””
We never learn in the Book of Enoch that Raphael actually does this (based on my reading), but it was commanded. In fact, Raphael would have had to throw Azazel into that prison which was in the domain of Baraqiel.
This puts Baraqiel!Crowley and Azazel!Aziraphale among the ranks of angels that went to Earth and delighted in Earthly pleasures, which caused them to be “fallen,” that God refused to speak to from then on, that Enoch!Metatron was ordered by God to tell that they were unforgiven and would never be forgiven.
It’s worth noting that there seems to be some disagreement among rabbinical scholars over whether Samyaza, Azza, Azzael, and Azazel are separate entities or if these are different names for the same entity. We should also remember that in the universe of Good Omens, entities change names when they ascend to or fall from Heaven.
Tying this all back to the Metatron: In 3 Enoch, the book which describes the ascent of Enoch the man to Metatron the angel, we learn that the overseer of the Second Heaven is Baraqiel, angel of lightning. The description of the prison in the Second Heaven and the angels trapped within it is terrifying, but not more than Enoch’s own actions when he is there.
At this point Enoch has not been transfigured into the Metatron yet, but when he passes by, the angels ask him to pray for them to the Lord; and he refuses, for “who am I, a mortal man, that I may pray for angels?” He is told about them again in the Fifth Heaven, about their sins, how they followed Satan, and that they will be punished on Judgment Day.
So we have a lot of reasons here to see that there would be enmity directly between the Metatron and Azazel, for questioning his authority before God, and between Baraqiel and Enoch!Metatron, for either Baraqiel was guarding the prison or already in it when the human who would become Metatron was supplicated for prayers of redemption and refused. Either way, the Metatron is responsible for Baraqiel’s fall, most directly because he refused to take the petition of the fallen angels before God and instead relied on his interpretation of a dream.
There’s been a lot of implication and even exposition throughout S2 that memory is vulnerable to erasure. We’ve gotten some direct hints that Crowley doesn’t remember all of his past, but I would venture to propose that Aziraphale has a very troubled past that he does not remember, that the Metatron (and possibly Crowley) does, and that further, because his memory was [partially] removed, his name was changed to Aziraphale, for which we see precedent in Jimbriel and all the demons.
My absolutely unhinged, unsubstantiated S3 prediction is that Angel!Crowley sacrificed himself to rescue Azazel from damnation, and the price of Azazel remaining an angel was losing the memories of his transgressions, including (and especially) those he formed with Angel!Crowley. That at the Garden of Eden, Crawley!Crowley knew that these things had been erased, and that he was probably talking to a husk of his former friend, the way that Jim was a husk of Gabriel, but that when he learned that Aziraphale had given away the sword, realized that the soul of the person he loved was still in there.
Tumblr media
Partner post: For a meta on why we should believe that Enoch!Metatron aka Human!Metatron is a possibility, go here.
Edit: I read the Book of Enoch from front to back, twice, but if you want to check my work (or write a response meta!) you can find the source material here and here.
If you liked this husbands-centric meta, you may like A Nightingale Sang in 1941
If you liked this historic event speculation, you may like Sodom and Gomorrah

Octavia, Azathoth's Tears, and What It May Mean for Sinsmas
So... I'll admit, I might've been left in the oven for too long, but I have to ask:
This still of Octavia:
Tumblr media
Doesn't this remind anyone else of Azathoth's Tears?
Tumblr media
And how the colours in both previous pictures are similar to the colour of Octavia's power?
Tumblr media
Granted the colors aren't all 1:1 and could be coincidental, but I can't help but think that if this is, in fact, supposed to be one of Azathoth's Tears, it means that she's holding a symbolic manifestation of, as Stolas said, "tears made of the hopes and dreams of every living thing that never came to be." Specifically... her own.
(But let me cook just a little bit more. I promise I turned the oven on broil and I'm just trying to get some nice kwispy browning on top.)
Based on the (admittedly limited) animation this clip of Octavia provides, I also believe she's singing. Here's the list of why I think that:
The framing of the animation
Octavia's mouth animations are slower than normal talking speed (speculative)
The second half of season 2 focuses on parallels and theme callbacks to the first half
Octavia's mental state last we saw her in Mastermind
The show's emphasis on incorporating musical theater language into the narrative (when emotions run too high to talk, you sing, and when emotions are too high to sing, you dance)
Viv's confirmation there's at least one song (diegetic or nondiegetic) included in every Helluva episode
I'm not 100% saying this is true, just that I think it's a decent argument to make, given what context we have.
Okay, let's assume there is an Octavia song in Sinsmas. What does singing have to do with the connection I made between the clip and Azathoth's Tears and the color of Octavia's powers?
If Octavia does get a song, it'll be about how her hopes and dreams concerning her own family are never going to exist and how she needs to let that go.
"You never loved Mother, and you don't love me. You love him."
If this quote is real and not a fabrication, then it also supports this idea due to how definitive it is. Compare it to her previous speculative tone in S2E2 when asking Loona, "Why does [Stolas] hate her more than he loves me?" The definitive nature makes me believe that she doesn't need to speculate anymore.
Regardless of whether she's actually correct or not, whether Stolas hates Stella, loves Octavia, and/or loves Blitz, she's already made up her mind about what's going on. Her letting go of this familial hope manifests as this definitive statement.
It's up in the air about how sympathetic or unsympathetic she'll be towards her father by the end of season 2, but if my theory crafting is true, we gonna get a pretty fucking huge character moment for Octavia one way or the other.
Or I need to get tf out of the oven.
Idk.
Maybe Stolas' brain is being a bitch and hurting our already hurting birdie babe.
Now, if you'll excuse me, it's past 4AM, and if I don't get to bed in the next 10 seconds my fiancee will absolutely slaughter me worse than a goddamn D.H.O.R.K.S. agent.

- Will sass a grown man to death
- Hugs people he really loves with his tails included
- He has a blacksmith place somewhere
- Had to have an intervention for his mint addiction (unsuccessful)

- vibe checks buildings for faulty wiring with his electro signal echidna stuff
- Bro moves the soil around his island to promote healthier plant life
- Bro is the single teen dad of many many many Chao
- Tries to leave the island whenever he can. He has a map of places that Sonic marked because they made him think of him!

- Secretly looks forward to Rouge’s visits because he finds the sparring fun
Shadow:
- His room is usually only illuminated by a lamp because the sun shines directly in his window, and the ceiling light is too bright
- the lightbulb in the lamp changes colours. Rouge calls it his Mood Lamp
- If Sonic doesn’t show up to their weekly sparring, he gets concerned and indirectly searches for the dude. He’d rather die than admit he’s concerned tho
- Taylor Swift karaoke night with Amy
- Plays Project SEKAI
- Has a garden full of beautiful flowers dedicated to Maria. Amy and Sonic helped find flowers and seeds, and Knux provided the soil. They didn’t ask to get involved, nor were they asked, they just found out from Rouge and decided to help Shadow out
- He cannot fucking cook
- He cannot fucking bake
- There’s very few things he can actually make BUT HES LEARNING

- Is the reason Tails is a gossip
- She played Thief Simulator and had the greatest time ever
- Watched analysis videos of people trying to solve heists she committed

-or he just breaks the door anyway because why not
- Loves fireworks, wants to fire them on his own
- Absorbs every insult he hears Sonic make, as well as searches up on the internet to add to his database just so he can insult Eggman in a way that matters.

Initial Agatha All Along Ep 7 Meta Thoughts + Reactions
This ep was a work of art and my brain is buzzing while my heart is in awe.
YELLING at how the show is just leaning into the gay now that we're in the endgame. This is the current star TV show product of Disney Marvel and I am stunned and delighted. Two of this show's lead characters flat out saying they're not straight / queer.
I can only hope this spills over to more open marketing and interviews. Yes, I'm still shook about it and will be for the time being.
"I'm your mom's ex [forever pause] best friend." Congratulations Wanda-Agatha shippers, I'm happy for you. Also Agatha's "oooh" at possible epic Maximoff drama? Nice.
We've hit Doctor Who levels of time shenanigans! And timey whimey storytelling is a sure-fire way to hit the feels. There's something so powerful and tragic about Fate.
I keep drawing parallels about how the show feels like such a spiritual successor to DW with the Agatha-Billy team up, and the incredible layers (and theatrics and cunning and drama) with Agatha. Now we're directly playing with time and it's glorious!
As much as Billy is giving Agatha a hard time now, it's probably a good thing and healthy this conflict is in the open. Billy's expressing his hurt and anger and making it super clear he doesn't trust Agatha – which of course, structurally means he will of course have to trust her by the end of this story.
Them snarking at each other attempting the trial? I enjoy these bitchy dumbasses.
What an incredible writing feat in how they did the time skips, with the focus centered on Lilia so we can experience her tragic journey. I can't wait to hear more about how Schaeffer and the writers plotted this out. A new masterclass in executing a series reveal, with stunning cinematography to match. (the colours! the framing!) This episode embodies how it's really the craft and execution that delivers, less of the idea or the plot point.
Patti LuPwn effortlessly grounding this episode with her performance. I'm glad a wider audience gets to experience this Broadway legend's talent. My only regret is we never got more of her singing.
Agatha's back in her active leader-y role in driving the trial to succeed (and of course saving her own skin): tackling Lilia so she doesn't get impaled, reminding them to hurry up, and ultimately saving them crucial seconds by putting down the Death card.
Congratulations to Agatha officially joining the monsterfucker club. The way everyone looked to her (look, everyone saw Rio's dumb scar confession) was gold.
Vindication for my Death's missing heart theory -- although now it looks like the wound is more likely self-inflicted? I wonder exactly when and how.
Vindication for my perception of Rio as not a liar (as I do love the contrast with Agatha's duplicitous nature and tendency to run). She literally told everyone she's The Green Witch. In a scary voice no less.
Excited to see how they tackle Rio being the original Green Witch. Death being a witch is certainly a new take? And I'm still not sure how human or not this makes Rio, which makes the last two eps rather unpredictable. Yes, she's got a skull face and can do weird shit with her body. But the Scarlet Witch was able to pull off some inhuman things in MoM.

Telephones and Their Possible Connection with the Audience
So some time ago l was scrolling through @/partycoffin’s blog as one does when you fall into the fandom hole of welcome home, and I wanted to do a little speculation post about telephones and this picture:
Tumblr media
Or more specifically, Eddie's and Howdy's ones, and their different rotary dialers.
[Supposed tiny post turned into long theory ramble below cut!]
(I have checked that this was made on 4 December, 2022, so I think this could be speculated on!)
As we can see, not only are the phone types different (with theirs presumably being portable), the numbers used for dialing are replaced with colours instead. Now, a simple explanation could be made that the colours simply replace the numbers, but that's not the case:
Tumblr media
(I know they're not buttons, but let's just use that as a placeholder name for now-)
Neither of them seems to match with the 10 buttons needed for a a normal rotary dial, so the only explanation I could think of is that each colour corresponds with a neighbor.
@softestvine made a post about this before, and if you take a look at the guestbook signatures, the missing purple button on Eddie's phone makes sense since purple should represent him, and therefore his phone number in a sense.
Tumblr media
The real question is why would Howdy have his own phone number. Maybe an extra set of hands means he owns two phones? Or maybe it's normal to have your own contacts to ring yourself up, and Eddie is actually the odd one out? For that I'm not sure.
Continuing on, there's also the curious addition of a black button, which doesn't seem to connect to any neighbor at all. My first thought was that it could be related to Home, but considering that it communicates through onomatopoeia that even Wally couldn't understand sometimes, I feel like it's doubtful that it's meant to be for Home. (though I'm not saying that it's impossible, just unlikely for now).
Which leads to the second theory: it's to represent us, the audience, the viewers of the show. My speculation is that there was a segment on the show that would involve the characters calling or receiving a phone call from a fan of the show, similar to how irl children shows that includes audience participation will show off fanworks in their episodes. (the closest example I could think of is Blue's Clues right now since my sister used to watch that).
Admittedly this feels like a stretch, but phones seem to be important to the show in some manner. In some old posts, we have audio of what prank calls to some of the characters are like, and although they're definitely not relevant to the work now, it's interesting to note that the concept of a way to communicate with the puppets exists.
Another thing is that on one of the secret pages of the website, you're sent to this page:
Tumblr media
An error page that shows altered text and a phone gif instead of the one with Home. Perhaps I am looking too much into this, but compared to the other hidden links, why would this one take us to an error page first, albeit a different one?
Some people have pointed it out here that if you inspect the phone gif, it says "It's for you". When you click on it, you're taken to a page called 'duet' where Wally is singing to Home.
Don't you think it's coincidental that the only page with an audio file was only found through a phone? And why is the page called 'duet' when Home only responds after Wally finished his song? That's because the duet isn't sung by Wally and Home, it's supposed to be sung by Wally and you. By clicking on the phone, you're answering Wally's call, hence the "It's for you" file name.
My conclusion is that the phones were used to talk to the audience back when the show is running, and now Wally is using them to try to reach out to us.

Why is purple Rhett's new favourite colour?
Wonderhole E5
To be honest I am not big on writing this post because all I want to say is "it's gay. that's the post. bye" but this would not be fair or totally accurate for this wonderful and well thought out episode.
Rhett and Link are painted red and blue and get isolated in respective tiny rooms, in some type of GMM-like experiment. They are guided through the experiment by what seems to be a sinister twist on Stevie. The point of the experiment is to check whether this colour theory of association to emotions can be proven real. There is this expectation that after a while in these colours Rhett and Link should start behaving in a certain way.
The food cube segment seems to allude to weird taste tests and competitive games in GMM. Rhett is more reactive and compentitive while Link is more stoic and relaxed, as expected. Of couse, before that we were graced with another imagery of them drinking from tubes.
!!!ALERT!!!
Tumblr media
PUZZLE VIDEO REFERENCE!!!
We had seen another one in the Brown Diamond!!!
Rhett and Link already express that they feel irritable and antsy and lethargic and pensive repsectively. This could be commentary on their real selves, as we know that Rhett can panic and get reactive in the face of hardship while Link has said on many occasions that he likes to nap away his problems. Things got worse when they listened to comments that resemble quite a bit some of the real life negative comments they get.
Another interpretation could be that this is a message that they comply to what is expected of them.
You know, the title of the fairytale evil!Stevie is reading them, Ferdinand the Fox, is a play on the children's tale "Ferdinand the Bull" and... I have a lot of thoughts...

Ferdinand is a young calf who, unlike all other calves playing fighting and acting tough and strong, he prefers to calmly smell flowers. His mother worries because he is different than the other calves but ultimately is understanding to him. Ferdinand grows up and he becomes an unusually large bull. Yet he is not aggressive and tough at all, he still prefers to sit at peace and smell flowers. One day Spanish bull fighters come to the farms to select the next bull for the bullfights. Ferdinand knows he would never be chosen and sniffs flowers calmly, only accidentally he steps on a bee and the bee stings him. Ferdinand starts running, mooing and heaving due to the pain. Impressed, the bullfighters take him for a challenging wild bull and take him with them. In the bullfighting arena, Ferdinand is entirely distracted by flower bouquets and ladies' garments adorned with flowers and refuses to fight. The bullfighters are filled with shame at his expense and return him back to his pasture. Unbothered, Ferdinand continues his flowery life in peace.
So... that is an interesting starting story to draw from, isn't it?
However, Ferdinand the Fox is quite the different character from Ferdinand the Bull. Let's take a look to the Wonderhole fairytale because this one is very interesting as well.
We have a land of many furry animals (Mythical Beasts) whose favourite songs are Fo-Rest and Trees (Rhett and Link). They chant these songs daily (daily content) and the magic fountain fills with the purest, sweetest water (the - monetized yet authentic - creativity produced by the chemistry / collaboration / bond of Rhett and Link). A fox called Ferdinand however crafts a plumbing system that routes all the water to his own place, so he enjoys all the water while the other animals are dehydrated and sing in vain (Rhett and Link's creativity is drained and channeled to a single format / style of content, perhaps due to somebody's or some people's responsibility, to the dismay of their loyal fans). Eventually the animals stop chanting their favourite songs (Rhett and Link lose popularity / viewership), however this is not beneficial for Ferdinand either because the fountain needs sound in order to produce water (money). But he knows singing Forest and Trees is not necessary for this (Rhett and Link's authenticity and artistry are not truly necessary to make money). So he goes to the other animals and starts spreading gossip, negativity, toxicity which creates unrest amongst the animals but, if nothing else, the fountain makes water again (uninspired, basic content with toxic, negative fan community). A mole named Marvin - another occurence of a mole, most notable was the mole who was supportive of Rhett and Link's hole digging - digs deep enough that he discovers what is going on. He comes to the surface and tells the other animals the truth. However, Ferdinand manages to turn the animal community against him by questioning his claims and even blaming him for the water drainage. Ferdinand wins (as Rhett and Link's videos usually have bad endings).
Who was the recurring mole? The old fans? Someone in particular? Someone in their immediate social or workplace circle? Someone who rallies for Rhett and Link's creativity / authenticity / sincerity but their efforts are met with too many obstacles? And who is Ferdinand? Is it some certain person with power in Rhett and Link's business? Is it the toxic, conservative or overly particular part of the fandom that wants only one type of content? I cannot tell what these characters exactly stand for but I feel the story told here is pretty much along those lines.
Rhett says how "we the animals" would want a revolution (a drastic change in how Rhett and Link present themselves and express their creativity?). Link comments how he feels sorry for the dehydrated animals (long standing fans?) and just before the crescendo of this video, he reflects how the animals (fans) should have listened to the mole (truth teller?, shippers?, old fans?, real life ally?).
And then we have this scene which was kind of agonizing, especially when you think there is a symbolism in it, which it obviously has a symbolism in it:
Tumblr media
Like a literal wake up call, we are blasted with the image of Rhett and Link cuddling in their sleep. They also make sure to show that they must have "mingled" enough during their sleep that their bedspreads are messed and each has ended up on the other's bed and they are towards the opposite direction than the one they had in the beginning. In short, they have "cuddled" long and hard.
Tumblr media
It's not just about that though. Rhett and Link are still being watched throughout in this context and, if anything, it seems things are going according to evil!Stevie's plan or expectations for the experiment. She removed the wall between them, waiting to see whether it would led the experiment to this and it DID lead the experiment to this. So there is an element of manipulation of which Rhett and Link seem to be the victims, either because they are driven to this or because they are watched while inevitably this happens. It sort of reminds me again Rhett's passive aggresive "Perhaps you are right after all" to the shippers last year.
When they wake up, they act like they have no memory of what happened (that level of twist and turn with another person in bed requires you to be at least semi-awake) and they deny having any will in this, particularly Rhett. In fact, Rhett accuses Link of "blueing him in his sleep" (wow) and slaps him. Then we get ANOTHER Puzzle Video reference!
Tumblr media
Which is not surprising at all... remember what Link does in the Puzzle video ;)
A lot of denial, in short. The incident has made the tensions go up high. Rhett and Link start fighting each other in an ingenious fight sequence, wonderfully shot, directed and acted. With their fight, Rhett keeps redding Link and Link keeps blueing Rhett more and more, bit by bit. Eventually they challenge each other to "surrender". This goes on for a while until Rhett promises he will surrender, only if Link does as well. Then there is another round of "surrendering first" challenge until they proclaim to surrender, only to tighten their grips on each other extremely. The tension rises uncontainably and they eventually explode, creating purple in the process. Their purpling provokes another food reward by evil!Stevie. And here is what "purpling" means in Evangelical context, as explained by @unforgivablengk .
Based on this video, the tension and subsequent explosion can mean one of these three things:
Rhett and Link try desperately to resist the inevitable, all while challenging each other to make the first move to surrender. It reminds me of the peanut butter argument in the Flight Simulation, where they fight over who will take the first scoop. This only builds up the tension and they eventually "explode".
Rhett and Link are on different pages regarding being upfront and honest with their audiences and they both stick-in-the-mud forcing each other to surrender to the other's opinion. They are so stubborn in their own opinions that they neutralise and dissolve themselves in the process.
Maybe it's only artistic / work commentary, showing how they are different personalities who have different creative visions but their tension and the rubbing off of each other creates their trademark "purple" identity. I mostly saw this being the interpretation of many others on youtube. However, it does not explain why it needed physically touching heavily in bed to convey that message and also Rhett and Link have never claimed their artistic visions are different or that their personalities are opposite when it comes to the artistic vision.
But here it's time to remind you all that Rhett has only since the previous year started expressing his love for the colour purple (there was also the Lucy Lavender chicken in the Road Crossing Chicken video) but it has not always been his favourite colour. For the longest time, Rhett was not that decided on having a favourite colour but whenever asked, he would say that his preferred colour was grey. For ages. Then for a short while he also appreciated green, after his own eyecolour (lol). But suddenly, since a year or so, he is so big on the colour purple like he was never before with any other colour. This is a slightly sudden change. I believe he has associated purple with some particular symbolism in his mind...
*The evil!Stevie is voiced by Katey Sagal, the voice of the Smart House and also the purple haired, one-eyed Turanga Leela, the Captain of the Planet Express Delivery Ship in Futurama.

Kismet/*NSYNC Trolls Headcanons
youtube
While I'm not sure if *NSYNC will ever reappear in the Trolls franchise as their Trolls equivalents, it's certainly not stopping me from thinking up theories of how the band formed and sharing headcanons I have about the characters themselves. I admit I've loosely based my headcanons about the characters based on what I've learnt about the actors themselves, but overall, I've tried to think the characters as original and not simply rip-offs of their actors.
How the band started:
Hype and Branch started as childhood friends, forming their friendship not long after Branch's brothers left the Troll Tree. I imagine they met in preschool/pre-k and/or Grandma Rosiepuff used to babysit for Hype (I give credit to glitterysparklystuffz from Instagram for that idea) and the two youngsters formed a friendship as result.
Sadly, their friendship became strained after Branch lost his grandma and turned grey. Branch stopped singing and became more interested in preparing for a potential Bergen attack, traumatised by the loss of his beloved grandmother and terrified at the thought of the Bergens finding them again. He spent more time preparing for a potential Bergen attack and spent less time with Hype. Fearing that Hype was only friends with him due to his singing abilities and that he would eventually leave him like his brothers did Branch pushed Hype away, leaving himself friendless and alone...until a certain pink princess began making attempts to win him over and to help him find happiness again. Eventually, we know from the True Colours moment of Trolls that it worked.
youtube
Eventually after regaining his colours and his confidence to sing again, Branch made amends with Hype, apologising for pushing him away. Hype also apologised for not being there for his friend during his time of need. Despite some rough moments between them, Branch and Hype managed to rekindle their friendship.
Hype introduced Branch to his new adult friends: Ablaze, Boom and Trickee. They immediately bonded over their love of performing and the band Brozone (which Hype knew Branch was formerly apart of). Eventually, the group formed their own band, *Kismet and even made a record. They were not quite as popular as Brozone but they still have a number of committed fans.
Regardless of their success, Branch insisted that they keep his name and face anonymous from the group as he wasn't ready to go public or reveal his boy band past to Poppy and the other trolls. Hype and the rest of the group respected Branch's wishes and agreed to respect his privacy.
Their performance in Trolls Band Together was their first live performance.
Character Profiles:
Hype:
He and Branch are the groups tenors. They're also the youngest members of the group.
He's known for his energy and hyper dance moves. This is the reason he was named Hype. He does the bands choreography.
Though he's considered charming and is very popular with his love-struck fans, Hype is actually very shy when it comes to love and dating. Though he hopes to find love someday, for now he's quite happily single.
He loves critters and has a pet much like the Troll version of a dog.
After his childhood friend, Branch, his favourite member of Brozone is Clay as he admires his dance moves, especially the famous Rusty Robot dance move, later the Well-Oiled robot. He also loves a good joke like Clay secretly still does.
He's pretty easy-going and loyal to his friends. Though he's also pretty sensitive and doesn't like conflict.
When Branch made amends with him, he didn't hesitate to forgive him for pushing him away. He secretly always missed his childhood friend during their years of estrangement, but felt it wasn't wise to invade his personal space as he feared he'd be rejected again.
Ablaze:
Ablaze is the baritone singer of *Kismet.
Ablaze is the loudest and most exuberant member of the group.
He's Boom's best friend and business partner in their fireworks business: Ablaze and Boom's Fantastic Fireworks. He runs the business and customer service side of the operation. Though he has the energy and charisma of a car salesman, he's always as honest as he is charming with customers. He won't give them anything but the best.
An incredibly loyal and supportive friend to Boom, whom he loves like a brother.
Though considered very handsome and charming to a lot of lady trolls, his heart belongs to his long-term girlfriend turned wife. They had an on-off relationship in their teenage years but are now fully committed to each other and are hoping to start a family.
His favourite member of Brozone is Spruce, now Bruce. When he was younger it was because of his status as the Heartthrob, but now in present day he respects him because he's a wonderful father and husband to Brandy. He hopes to get parenting tips from him.
He'll do anything to make others smile, and sometimes laugh.
Boom:
Boom is the bass-baritone singer of *Kismet.
Boom has a close brotherly friendship with Ablaze. Though quieter and more reserved than his best friend, both have a shared love of performing and bringing joy to others.
He's the creative and brainy pyrotechnic for his and Ablaze's fireworks business. He handles fireworks with the care and technical expertise of a mechanic or rocket scientist, yet also has a lot of flair for colour and shape when setting them up.
He's got a good eye for fashion and style. He feels it's the best way to express yourself.
Like Hype, he's a got a great love and respect for critters. I imagine he's a vegetarian or vegan.
In his spare time, he loves starwatching and studying their constellations.
He's rather slow at picking up on jokes and puns (as shown at the end of Trolls Band Together).
Boom's favourite member of Brozone is Floyd because he's so sweet, sensitive yet also so genuine and real. He loves Floyd's new emo hairstyle especially with frosted parts added to his magenta hair (it reminds him a bit of strawberries and cream soft serve ice-cream). Though he also feels bad for the torture Floyd went through that resulted in his hair bleaching and hopes he's doing okay.
Trickee:
Trickee is *Kismet's countenor singer.
Trickee's favourite member of Brozone is John Dory, both because they're the oldest member of their respective singing group and also because they're both considered the more underrated members as well. John Dory's respective googles inspired his own style choice of googles, but he did want to do his own personal spin on them.
He's great with children and often volunteers at the local children's section of the Trolls hospital. He'll often perform for them and does tricks for them like balloon animals. Anything to make them smile.
He has a great flair for hairstyles and fashion. He has a few younger sisters who love him doing their hair and giving them fashion tips.
He works as a hairstylist at Maddy's Hair Salon.
Both he and Boom were responsible for the groups personal style choices. They often worked one-on-one with Satin and Chenielle in making the groups outfits.
I'd love to hear your own *Kismet theories and headcanons. I encourage us all to be respectful to each other's opinions.

Random Colour Symbolism in the Human AU
So, people’s hair is incredibly important for storytelling purposes. It tells a lot about the character, from their personal style to their personality. It also can be used to show change like leaving the past behind (think of all the dramatic hair cutting scenes) or becoming who the character actually is (the reveal of their hair actually being curly or dying their hair). All in all, it’s huge in character design.
As is the way characters dress and hold themselves. You can tell a lot by how a character is dressed from their profession to their hobbies to their favourite colours. If they’re wearing an heirloom, it’s implied that family is something that’s important to them, like wearing a suit implies they are business oriented. That’s why animators and illustrators spends so much time focusing on the little details of what the characters wear.
And colour theory is also important. Colours have different meanings and associations in different cultures and areas of the world. They are commonly used to showcase traits for characters long before said traits actually appear.
Why do I mention this? Because a while ago while I was working on character profiles for the human au, I decided to combine these for Johnny. Working in the self expression aspects as well as colour theory (and referencing silverback gorillas for an easter egg), this is what I came up with for the evolution of Johnny’s hair and style between movies. I hope you enjoy!!
***Heads Up: I do have a more severe costume change mentioned as I found his and Meena’s lackluster in the wake of all their growth.***
----------------------------------------
Johnny’s story arc primarily is one of identity and acceptance. In the first movie we see him at first as a mini version of his dad. He’s dressed in his dad’s hand-me-downs and it’s clear he’s trying to mimic the man and make him proud by focusing on their similarities.  He’s clearly trying to come across as intimidating and grown up which really doesn’t work. However, this makes him seem just small and lost and he looks like a little kid trying to play dress up.
Over the course of the movie however, we start to see slight changes in his appearance. During rehearsals and practicing, Johnny’s hair starts to look a little bit more silver (like his dad’s) but only for a few seconds. His posture also improves and he starts to come across as more self assured. He starts to actually look closer to his age. This only relapses when Johnny nearly steals the prize money, again appearing as a smaller version of his dad. When he stops however, the lighting on-screen has his hair come across as silver, when he decides to win the money properly.
During the final performance scene, Johnny’s hair can only be read as silver because of the lighting, with the actual black color only appearing briefly. This is indicative of him becoming his own person and starting to make a path of his own, with or without his father. When we see the two reunite, Johnny’s hair looks almost as silver as his dad’s for a few seconds at the end when his dad leaves, marking him as his own person and his father’s equal not his shadow as well as this being the start of something new for both of them.
In the second movie, Johnny’s casual appearance has drastically changed from the first. His hair is longer than his dad’s and is styled in a way that is clearly his own preference as we see none of his family members with a similar one. It is also silver tipped, just like his dad’s, again marking them as equals. Johnny’s clothing also seems much more fitted and like his own, and despite wearing the same jacket as in the first movie (this time showing his connection to his family instead of mimicking), his clothing is more stylized and has more accessories. It’s clear that Johnny is no longer focusing on being a version of his father and instead on being his own person. He seems much more confident as well, using his appearance to showcase his identity. He looks older. This shows how much he’s changed since we last saw him.
However, when he’s with Klaus, his hair appears darker and he once again is read by the audience as small. It isn’t until he gets his confidence back that his posture straightens again and his hair seems as silver as it was in the beginning. But, it does go back to essentially all black when Johnny is getting attacked during the performance, showcasing the fear and self-doubt he was feeling at the time. When Johnny starts to fight back again and gain traction in the fight, his hair starts being read as more and more silver until at the end it appears to fully be so. This would mark once again Johnny’s victory in the situation as well as him doing so as himself, not as who someone else wanted him to be, therefore bringing the identity aspect back into the picture.
In all instances when Johnny’s hair can be read as silver, I would hav it so that it does look like a trick of the light, but the symbolism remains. Silverback gorillas are the leaders of their groups. They are in charge. And while the silver colour was a nod towards that base species, it also symbolises maturity, healing, and enlightenment, all things that do appear in Johnny’s story. He matures in both movies from a scared kid to someone who is confident in himself and who he is. He heals his relationship with his father as well, and his relationship with his family is clearly important to him. As for enlightenment, I would argue that his story does touch on that in a broad sense as he is enlightened in the second movie to continue to be himself no matter how many people try to stop him.

When I realized I couldn't be popular because I don't do THAT old men toxic yaoi ship that I hate (because I prefer healthy yaoi ships).
Personal confession below :
That's so sad my drawings aren't so noticed (except scarecrow but I'm mentioning about Hatter content especially) and when I see people creating new accounts and drawing the same character I'm themed with just get more fame is very frustrating for all the hours and work I give to my BTAS Jervis in "reality" or even the concept arts.
The only time I can get more famous things is about shitposts I make for 2 minutes and as it's funny, it's more noticeable
Like all my long work with a good look (I guess) are just good for some people who're always here (thank you so much, really I love you) but it's rare it catches new people.
But to be clear, it hurts me so hard my talents, in drawings or singing, are so underrated generally (art class never helped me and I still have colour theory difficulties, some anatomy I can learn about. There's also a time I was about to pass in the radio or in a singing competition but my fate decided otherwise. Also the musical comedy group I was in never let me take a character that interacts with others, like a background character that is just a plus and brings nothing to the plot). I learned art by myself and it's been like this since my 10 thanks to my mom's books and all. The only time I got some acknowledgement about my art was with a comic painting with a dragon that can't fly. Maybe that's the first time I got what I wanted, maybe only humour or bluntness is what I'm good for? I'm confusing
I'm soon 16, it sucks to say it I know, and I often feel like i would never have the chance to let people impressed enough
I feel like it's never never enough for anyone
I'm literally crying...
I will continue to be on Tumblr, maybe I should look impatient, paranoid or whatever some can call me. I just wanted to get it out. Maybe I'm just blind? Or also, Tumblr doesn't get as many users as the great media like Facebook or Instagram. That may explain why
-Back to the topic-
Anyway, the thing that really makes me frustrated is when some get fame because of a toxic ship, I should mention my blog won't get that kind of thing because I'm not the type that follows trends and when I love a character, I don't put them in a toxic relationship, I made things easier for them. When I say I LOVE a character, I mean I adore them despite their flaws, I'm AWARE of what Jervis did, don't worry I slapped him and told him about consent and boundaries!
Well, maybe that text is so long to be read but I needed to let it out, that's maybe a chaos of confusion because my brain is just a mess.

this is something i talked about on twitter but. thoughts on chuuya's happiness or lack of in the mafia after the stageplay madness ?
i don't think chuuya is unhappy in the pm but do i think he is happy ? no. he's probably not even considering his own happiness tbh.
he shackled himself to the organisation bc of the dead bodies he carries on his back and bc he's desperately searching for a meaning/purpose.
he has not changed since he was 15, in contrast to dazai who's evolved and is somewhat seeking a healthier way of life. chuuya hasn't. he's someone who was very similar to dazai and who stayed that way as a 22 y old. he has a ton of issues he hasn't solved bc he doesn't face them.
Tumblr media
and this is literally what this scene means - chuuya was opposed to dazai in that scene and only one of them changed. he literally stayed stuck as the teenager in search of a place to feel useful, clinging onto anything that'll give him a purpose.
and another very interesting thing we have is chuuya's character emo song Darkness My Sorrow :
"The world is a bird cage, faded in colour
Even if I lament, I can't get out of this prison
Even if I get tired of the night and tear off my shackles
That eye who sees eye to eye with Kierkegaard is also here"
the whole theme of it is chuuya saying he's trapped in a cage, but fuck everyone and the world bc you know what ? he'll persevere out of spite.
but in contrast to this way of thinking, he mentions Kierkegaard, who's a philosopher known for his theory on how choice gives humans profound anguish. which i think can be related to chuuya bc choosing probably gives him that anxiety - all the choices he has to make in regards to the sheep or the pm certainly are not easy ones and they take a toll on him. one that he'll never acknowledge bc it isn't the time to hesitate or talk about feelings, it's time to act, as he says in DA or below in his song :
"Even though it feels like I might be trapped, there is no room for sentiments
I'll push myself to the limit and dye everything jet-black"
and there's also this bit :
"I'd rather just fall than go back to being alone
Staring at the destroyed cage of this self, (GRAVITY)
Slowly, I sing, "Not bad at all.""
so while yes, he did choose to be part of the pm (and won't let anyone take this act of choosing away from him), imo we have enough material to consider that chuuya is a very self-sacrificial character, with suicidal tendencies to boot. i just don't see him as a happy person ? despite doing what he wants most (protecting the city and the ppl he cares about) and living life with his very chuuya-ish moral compass, i think that he's mostly on survival and work mode.
tldr; chuuya needs to leave the mafia and do his own thing after he gets his character development

YAYYYYYY!!!! GOOD JOB JOHNNY!!!!
Sing Character Tourney
At last, we come to the true end to our character tourney. Winning by 5 votes, Johnny ultimately stays victor, and thus the most popular Sing character!!
🎉🎉🎉
Tumblr media
Buster: 10 votes (40%) | Johnny 15 votes (60%)
Keep Reading for me talking extra info!
Previous Post [ ← ]
It was real fun doing this with y'all!! Could you believe this has been going on for a whole 20 days? I sure can't. (There has been some off-days on the poll but shhhh aushasd)
It was a real pleasure hosting this, and it really nice to see so many votes come in, showing that there are a lot of people here than we see actually interact! Any lurkers are welcome in my opinion!
(Highest vote count was 27 votes in Ash vs Meena)
I can also confidently say that Mike is the least liked character, with Jimmy not falling far behind). Jimmy has only won 1 round, that being against Mike. In one round, Jimmy lost with only a single vote to his name!
If I was able to give honorary awards, I would give one to Meena, who had the most vocal support during this event. This is due to one person in particular, and you know who you are, and I loved your excitement.
Anyways, time to try to rank all the characters (idk how to do this right, so bare with me here)
#1 Johnny #2 Buster #3 Clay #4 Ash #5 Ryan #6 Eddie #7 Nana #8 Nooshy #9 Rosita #10 Meena #11 Gunter #12 Porsha #13 Miss Crawly #14 Suki #15 Jimmy #16 Mike
Yeah I definitely think I did that wrong. Oh well, you get the idea asudasuhaas
Anyways here's the final pictures for the tourney:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Above: Original Tourney Below: Loser's Bracket
And then if anyone cares for this, here's all the pictures I've used, all unorganized and carelessly misspelled

And last but not last, if you have any questions regarding these polls, be sure to let me know! I'll gladly answer whatever you're curious about. [ x ]

Ive got a 2 part question. 💜
1. Do you think SJM will exand on the syphons/invoking stones? If so, how do you think she’ll try them in?
I’m thinking we may have a bit more, but most likely be used to parallel Azriel & Gwyn
If she uses the syphons/stones in more depth, maybe the syphons could be connected to the asteri or the Illyrian’s true deity? Maybe their true deity is the mother too & she imbued their syphons with the opposing power to the stones?
2. Do you think Bryce released the Pegasi and/or Prisoners in Prythian?
My brain is telling me the answer is yes, to at least the pegasi. Nesta didn’t seem to be acting like there were prisoners or Pegasi on the loose & there could be a few explanations for that.
It’s obviously not instantaneous for Midgard, so I don’t think it’s far fetched to think there may be a delay for them in Prythian.
Or Nesta wasn’t allowed to go on the hunt & ion like that idea so I won’t expand on that.
So for 1.) I have two parts for this answer. First, symbolically and second, literally.
1. Symbolically, I think the invoking stone will be a huge part in Gwyn’s character development. Currently, she is still living in the library after she won the rite. And even Nesta said, despise everything, Gwyn still went back. This means that Gwyn’s story is just starting. I think this stone will be used as a symbol for her gaining true confidence in herself. I can see Azriel even encouraging her to wear it.
2. Literally, I think it’s very interesting that Azriel’s siphons are the same colour as the stone. I think his siphons and her stone are compatible with eachother and could even be stronger once they accept their mating bond (it’s a reach but I could see that happening)
I also have a theory that Gwyn is Tamlin’s daughter. The quote is in chapter 29, how her mother participated in the spring court calanmai ritual to conceive Gwyn and her twin. So Gwyn has blood ties to spring, autumn, and even the nymphs. She possesses more power than anyone really knows.
And it’s so interesting that you brought up the Asteri because I actually had a theory when the HOFAS first two chapters were uploaded. Rhys said to Bryce and Armen that they only knew of the Asteri through old ancient songs. When I looked back at the scene where Nesta is hearing gwyn sing for the first time with the priestesses, she is singing these ancient songs about the mother and cauldron. I truly believe that Gwyn is going to be important in the long run. I think she will be called to sing, and I think Azriel is going to help her. I don’t know if this really answered the question
But for your second question…
All I can say is that sjm definitely has another plan for the multiverse. It just does not make sense for there not to be this endgame type finale. Honestly, my brain is also telling me that Bryce released the Pegasi. And as for Nestas reactions, I feel like we were really cut off to so many major things happening in the ACOTAR universe during this important time. Again, for Rhys to take so long to make it to Nestas room was also so suspicious to me. You’re telling me he couldn’t winnow in and out in two seconds? I dunno, there’s definitely something happening that Sjm has placed a lense over. But again these are all just my assumption. I don’t know if I answered this well either, I feel like we as a collective don’t have enough information.

heyy i saw u reblogged the "please ask me abt my ocs" post, so. here is me asking about your ocs! gimme the deets
WARNING THIS IS 8,600 WORDS LONG
So in originally trying to answer this, I ended up just overwhelming myself because I have a lot of OCs and as it turns out trying to write everything about them all at once caused me anxiety and that was incredibly silly for an ask that was meant to, like, bring joy (which it did). So I've decided to just start again and focus on more simple descriptions. Some of these OCs are mine, some of Atlas’ (@theiratlas) and two are Alex's (@gayb0wsr). And I've colour coded them to easily show whose is whose and I've grouped them in a way they're grouped the only story that features all of them at once.
Below the cut is 31 backstories for 31 OCs! They are vaguely sorted - though sorted in a way that they are grouped the same way they are in the only story where all of them appear. So while the groups have titles, the titles don’t matter all that much and were mostly for me to keep track of the groups.
Also here is art of them all! All the art has reference links under the cut and was all either drawn by myself, friends, done in picrews, or commissioned. Basically, these are all images made just for these characters ^-^
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To just explain a tiny bit about the world of Libris, The Great Book. It is, as the name does imply, a flat world in the shape of a book. It was originally created as a custom D&D world that now is just kinda a hub world for all the OCs.

Idric Ba'lor (He/Him) - Tiefling Glamour Bard - Early to mid twenties
Art reference: https://coolcattime.tumblr.com/post/746469835526078464/ive-finally-had-the-brain-space-to-draw-so-ive
The merchant captain of the Balor, having hand-picked her crew since he took the position.
He was taken in by the previous captain after escaping a compound of religious zealots that were enslaving tieflings. He named himself after the ship.
Was taught his musical skills (violin and singing) by the tieflings looking after him in the camp, but his bardic talents are entirely self-taught.
Incredibly powerful Bard, probably the most powerful Bard on Libris. Beat the headmistress of a Bard College in a violin contest when he was a child (said headmistress now hates him with a burning passion). Has created spells.
Mostly a merchant/con-artist (depending on who you ask) but also is very much an adventurer for hire. But above all else, Idric considers himself a storyteller and prefers to tell the stories of others rather than his own.
Medli Mistwalker Ba’lor (She/Her) - Water Genasi Whispers Bard - Late teens to early twenties
Art reference: https://coolcattime.tumblr.com/post/722939088269901824/a-little-redrawvery-slight-redesign-of-my-oc
Was raised on the island of Mistwalker within the walls of Mistwalker College as the prodigy of the schools Headmistress Lady Clarissa Mistbreaker.
Was abused and bullied throughout her life which led to her being a pacifist.
Met Idric when they were kids and he tried to con her. Medli ended up hiding under the stall table when teachers came looking for her and Idric lied to them about not seeing her. This situation ended up with Idric beating Clarissa in a violin contest and him gifting Medli the item he had been trying to con her into buying. The two have been friends since and Medli frankly idolised Idric.
Medli ends up running away from Mistwalker when a “test” turns out to be a fight to the death between herself and another student. She's found half-dead by Idric and Anastasia who are thankfully able to heal her.
Now works as Idric’s apprentice and is a lot happier. Ends up changing her last name to Ba'lor due to disliking having a connection to a place that caused her pain.
Knows a lot about magical theory and is doing research to try and bring back lost magic.
Anastasia Gulp (She/Her) - Merfolk Twilight Cleric - Early twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1414503
The navigator of the Balor.
A lot more comfortable in the water than she is on land. Very skilled deep sea diver and navigator, mostly on instinct.
Very typically doesn't realise she is included in a group unless it is directly specified.
Will often say that her parents are great adventurers and that’s why they abandoned her. This is not true and she is not very convincing about said fact.
Despite appearances has had a very normal life. Doesn’t know where her cleric powers came from.
Myla Soliel (She/Her) - Simic Paladin - Late twenties to early thirties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
Hired security aboard the Balor.
Originally a human, but when she was a kid she left to work for Dr Braedan Thaxx - a scientist who had burnt every other bridge the scientific community had to offer attempting apparently impossible research - who fused her with features from other humanoid origins, animals, and monsters to create a superhuman bodyguard.
She worked with Thaxx for her entire adult life until, without warning, his research concluded and he never contacted her again, completely abandoning her.
She ended up working as a mercenary for hire, which led to her getting hired by Clarissa to kidnap Medli. She successfully did this, but was talked out of actually completing the job by Medli. When Idric arrived to find her breaking the legs of the college merchant that had come to collect Medli and hired her as security for the ship.
Altair Delphine (They/Them) - Aasimar Divination Wizard - Late Teens to Early Twenties
Art references:
https://frolis-maneuver.tumblr.com/commissions
https://ko-fi.com/aurelia_r?action=gallery
A divination wizard that uses tarot cards as a magical focus. They are also quite gifted in regular non-magical divination using the cards.
Altair was once enrolled in the most prestigious magical school on Libris: The Penattrey Embark Academy. Despite being intelligent and an incredibly natural divinator, formal education led to them being perpetually stressed. They ended up leaving to avoid seeing their exam results and think about their future for another second.
They briefly attended Mistwalker College as a “non-taught specialty student”, where they met Medli. However they left not long after Medli did due to their stress in formal education not having disappeared overnight, or over many nights (or ever), and due to Mistwalker sucking in general.
They end up staying in a tavern in a small town run by a friendly elderly dwarven couple. They attempted to earn money by doing tarot readings, but didn't actually advertise they were doing this and any curious patrons found Altair’s bedside manner lacking even if their information proved correct. Needless to say, they didn't actually earn much money.
They assumed they were being sneaky and koy in not paying their tab - the couple was actually just letting them stay for free, going along with Altair’s antics.
They ended up reuniting with Medli kinda randomly and getting a job as an assistant on the Balor to help on market days (and get roped into helping out on adventures).
They also ended up as the apprentice of the head of a mysterious magic guild known as Atlanta. They did not apply for nor ask for this job, but it pays well and very very little is expected from them so they have accepted the situation.
Storm's Rest
Katherine Delaney (She/Her) - Half-Elf (Eladrin) Wild Magic Sorcerer - Mid to Late Twenties
Art reference: My current WIP
The adopted daughter of the human noble family of Storm's Rest.
At a young age she was exposed to an extremely high level magic that left her blind and with an overwhelming magical force within her body. Her father found a source of magic water that with a small ritual could be turned into eye drops so she could see, though she needs to apply the eye drops every day.
The massive amount of magic in her left with wild magic surges that occurred no matter what type of magical training she attempted. She ended up honing her powers as a sorcerer to gain some control over this with the help of her mother who is learning this alongside her daughter.
As part of a family tradition, she goes off to adventure for a while after becoming an adult. This ended up in tragedy as Katherine and her party were captured by a green dragon and its cult. One of Katherine’s friends was eaten, the other lost a leg, and her brother (who came to rescue her) lost an eye. Worse, the dragon and the cult leader both escaped alive.
Katherine ends up with survivor's guilt over the situation, especially as she ended up with no long term injuries. She ends up unable to stand remaining at home and taking off in the middle of the night hoping she can prove herself somehow.
In practice this looked a lot like hiding in a tavern three towns over until a cute (please read as: weird) mushroom girl, claiming to be her retainer, showed up.
Rupert Delaney (He/Him) - Human Swarm Ranger - Late Twenties to Early Thirties
Art reference:
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/582810
The biological heir of the Delaney noble family, and Katherine's older brother.
Typically seen with a charm of hummingbirds following him which fight with him in combat.
He's stopped adventuring since the dragon incident, deciding to focus on learning to run the family shipping business, rather than risking worsening his injuries. Despite his happy-go-lucky nature and less than stellar academic history, he’s found great success in this.
He has always been incredibly protective of Katherine, and is incredibly worried about her since the dragon incident and her disappearance having been a big part of hiring Leontine as Katherine’s retainer.
Leontine O'Dora (She/Her) - Wood Elf Spore Druid - Definitely Always Twenty-Four Exactly, No More, No Less, 24 mmhmm exactly yes, that’s what that guy said that one time, i think it was a good year ago now. He said I looked twenty four and he wore a cravat so you have to assume he knew his stuff :)))

https://www.tumblr.com/gayb0wsr
Leontine woke up in an abandoned mushroom infested estate with no memory of who she was and with a wound in her chest that had been infested with and closed by mushrooms.
The mushrooms spoke to her, greeting her as a friend, and acted as a guide when she realised she wanted to leave wherever she was.
For a while, she adventured around the general wilderness surrounding the city she had woken up in. She was oddly skilled with a quarterstaff and the mushrooms aided her with necrotic damage and absurd necromantic powers. She was immediately a more than formidable fighter.
She made enough of a name for herself as a fighter that she was approached about becoming a retainer for the daughter of a local noble family. She went to look into this job, however when she arrived she was given an apology. The daughter had disappeared, and the best detectives in the city currently had no leads. Leontine offered to track her down with the help of the mushrooms, an idea that was not really believed by anyone but the son but the family couldn't exactly turn down help.
Leontine found Katherine a few towns over without taking a singular wrong turn. Though Katherine was not exactly hiding, she definitely did not expect to be found. She definitely was not ready to return home. Leontine decided that this was fine as her job was to be her retainer so as long as she stayed with Katherine, she was doing her job. She did however persuade Katherine to send her family updates to let them know she was safe. The two have been travelling together since and have been dating since shortly after the arrangement began.
Marshanne “Marsh”  Springharrow (She/Her & He/Him) - Hagkin Warlock - Late Teens
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1564386
The created child to a powerful yet closed coven - designed to the most powerful hag there ever was. The coven began “training” her at a very young age in advanced polyphormic magic, giving her nearby towns folk to “play with” (traumatise).
As Marshanne grows a little older and more of a problem to the local populus, he becomes a folkloric type monster to the nearby town, which very much makes her kinda sad.
A renowned magic school then approaches the coven with the proposal of using and educating Marsh in exchange for studying his powers. The coven agrees but makes it very clear that they will come back to retrieve her as soon as she begins her transformation into a full hag and that even the school will not be powerful enough to stop her once it begins.
Marshanne, upon waking up in the school, is told that he is being given a choice: accept the pact with the school’s patron to supercharge her powers, be given top tier support and care from the staff all while allowing her to do good in the school's name before being killed kindly when her transformation begins or to be horrifically slaughtered in front of the student body as an invading monster.
Marshanne accepts this, desperately wanting to be a hero and the school reserves the right to take that “kindness” whenever they see fit. After a year or so of this dynamic Marsh is sent on placement to support / learn under Rupert Delaney as he rebegins adventuring after an unknown hiatus. Rupert does not believe in the school’s binary regarding Marsh’s life, though will figure those details out later.
Rupert is also the person to give Marshanne, his usual nickname, Marsh.
The Cult Busters
Anshide Munroe (She/Her) - Drow Twilight Cleric - Forties (mid three hundreds)
Art reference: https://neuroticdoodle.tumblr.com/
Born in a particularly religious drow city, Anshide grew up with a number of clear rules. The absolute clearest being that no one was allowed to leave and that there was only one acceptable deity to follow. When she was approaching adulthood, she found an abandoned book on a different deity, one of the star deities of Libris.
Anshide became infatuated by what she read, and secretly began to pray to this new goddess. When her secret was discovered, she was arrested and ultimately exiled from the city. From there she left the tunnels under the World Mountains to the surface of Libris where she saw the stars for the first time and was amazed.
She was blessed by the goddess she was exiled for as a cleric and ended up working for a number of years as a mercenary. During this work she met the man who would become her husband - Himo.
The two settled down and ended up having a child - Kaya - before her past ended up returning. An inquisition from her birth city, tracking down those they had previously exiled to be made an example of to help cement the rule of a new priestess.
Realising the risk they posed to her family, she found a place for them to hide while she took on more mercenary work to keep herself on the move with armed company. And it worked well enough, but it was not a real solution.
After far too long of having to build her strength, Anshide returned to the city where she was raised and found the priestess. With power and experience behind her, Anshide gave a very clear ultimatum: stop with the crusade on the exiles or she would burn the priestess and the church to dust with starlight.
What precisely happened, Anshide kept to herself, but she returned to her family. Rather she returned to where they should've been, that was now a house ransacked, walls and floors covered in symbols and runes that she didn't recognise. In the centre of it all was her husband's severed hand.
She set off to find her family, ready to track down every cult in Libris if need be.
Rhell O'Hara (she/her & zu/zuff) - Human Zombie Fighter - Late Teens to Very Early Twenties
Art reference:
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1342558
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1419391
Rhell’s mom raised her, trying to avoid exposing Rhell to her real job, a back alley doctor for a mob who’s dealings focused on anthropomancy, information dealings, blackmail, and general assorted mafioso nonsense.
As Rhell got older and their relationship grew more strained, Rhell learnt to vent this anger physically growing to love sport and develop more into a regular person. Unfortunately this is also when Rhell’s mum’s role within the mob grew and she began to rely on Rhell’s help to do so.
Although a physically imposing presence, Rhell was almost exclusively given runner jobs and normal tasks that could be a part of any other assistant’s life, buying odd things with name’s zu’s never heard of, carrying “carpets” to the edge of town, cleaning apartments at half past four in the morning - the usual.
At some point in this, Rhell completes a drop off in an abandoned quarry, though this turns out to be a sting operation and in running through the quarry, Rhell steps upon loose stone and over fifty feet to her death.
When her body is found, her mum is able to use her sway to get ahold of the corpse, cover up the fact the fall ever happened and bring Rhell back, though due to the substantial damage to the vessel, this took more than what would usually be possible.
However the mother was able to do it though, Rhell came back, now physically unable to die ever again, simply awakening again and again but with an incredible hunger to serve others and more than a few stitching scars. Though it comes with little in the way of magic or impressive feats, Rhell is yet to find something zu couldn’t shake off in an hour or so plus her body has became the perfect vessel for divination, allowing her to gain insight into the future whenever she is harmed as blurry as those insights may be.
Rhell continues working for her mother in a similar capacity.
Libra Linustep (She/Her) - Tiefling Star Druid - Early to mid twenties
(Her name is pronounced Lib-ra, not Le-bra. She's named for the world of Libris, not the starsign ^-^)
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1564386
Born into a cult, Libra has always been told that the work they're doing is going to help all of Libris. A collection of divinators, they were going to read the stats to reunite the twelve star gods holy relics and bring unity to Libris.
Libra was one of those in the community blessed by the stars, she could see into the future and into the unknown. Her talents were only natural, her brother their current leader had such visions too. Libra followed her to guide herself to people or objects that can help their community, but she's sure that one day her visions will lead them to the holy relics they're looking for.
VI of Swords (any/all) - Slime Girl Arcane Trickster Rogue - less than a year of sentience, over 800,000 without
Art reference: https://www.instagram.com/sug4rmush/?hl=en
Once VI was nothing more than a dungeon slime. Very deadly, completely mindless, acting as corpse/general adventurer cleanup for a lich. When said lich ended up evolving to godhood, the magic left behind in the dungeon went into VI and she became a sentient slime (still extremely dangerous and occasional corpse eater).
Not quite knowing what to do with himself, VI found a tarot card on the ground with a figure on it that looked an awful lot like them. Thus they named themself “VI of Swords”.
For a while she hung about on the surface of Libris acting as a con artist giving tarot readings using cold readings and performance rather than divination. Then, as fate would have it, he started to get actual visions of the future.
A little panicked, they returned to the dungeon they were from only to be greeted by a newly formed cult. The Cult tried to fight them, a lot of its members got killed, and barely managed to trap VI in the central chamber which now has more locks, traps, and enchantments surrounding it than the most secure vault in the land. VI is now snuck waiting for someone to let her out so she can figure out what exactly these dreams are about.
VI’s main talents are a) being terrifying and psychological attacks in combat and b) transformation into different (always slimy) forms, mostly a dog.
Orla Waspchild (She/her) - Human Pre-Eldritch Warlock - Literally like nine
Summer Camp
Art reference:
My unposted art
https://www.tumblr.com/gayb0wsr
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
A young child with two parents who are controversial high ranking naval officers. She has a very black and white view of mortality due to this upbringing.
She was being raised typically on ships stationed around blockages. On one such blockage around an island, she ended up eavesdropping on her parents and overhearing them planning something terrible.
In attempting to escape the ship, she lept overboard determined to swim to shore. Quickly learning exactly what a current was, she began screaming for help, when none came, she instead screamed to the waters themselves, and boy did they answer. And so when Orla should've gone under and drowned, she instead turned into lightning striking the water over and over until she reached a safe store.
Said safe shore happened to be at an adventure camp for kids, where the counsellor coming to see the commotion assumed Orla was a kid that simply skipped checking in to head straight for a swim. She got a mild telling off about swimming without telling anyone and a safe place to stay.
After more than one reckless and impulsive decision, Orla quickly realised that the whole surviving death thing wasn't a one time thing and in fact now whenever she is in danger, something happens and Orla doesn't. She doesn't know why this is, but decides it means she is a hero and the adventure camp is as good a place as any to stay while she figures out how to do that.
Flaire Sandvik-Darling (They/Them) - Half-Elf (Sea) Lifeguard - Late teens / early twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/170832
(Flaire is actually blue with light fish features)
The lifeguard at Libris’ best adventure fun camp for junior adventurers, having felt most at home near the water. Flaire is an incredibly confident swimmer and calming presence for many of their friends, despite not always seeming it.
Flaire grew up taking trips to the adventure camp, with stretching days of fun that made adventuring seen like a field trip rather than a dangerous occupation. Flaire would spend their days swimming or exploring the woods with their cousin that never quite seemed to have the magical effect on them that they had on everyone else.
During their teen years, Flaire got lifeguard training and got a job as a counsellor at the camp.
As a young adult, Flaire was enrolled in a prestigious magic school. This was when they learnt a rare quirk they had. Whenever Flaire looked at magic, it stopped. No one could explain the ability, though a good number of professors did discuss theories a bit too loud, but Flaire was very much stuck with it. They attempted to persist at school, but frankly anti-magic vision at a magic school was never going to work.
They ended up having what amounted to a year long breakdown before leaving during exam season to go back to their lifeguard position at the camp. Flaire had developed incredibly complex feelings about having to leave school and so chose to keep this news secret until they decided what exactly those feelings were, hoping to see their old friends, relax a little and return to their old life before things felt too real again. However, said friends no-showed the reunion being too busy with jobs, partners, and parties and Flaire was left in their little clubhouse alone, having just put up a little banner :((
With camp starting the next day, Flaire did what they could - smashed up the clubhouse and awaited the children’s arrival confident that at least things would be normal with their cousin, a new counsellor and someone they had been really close with prior to school. Even if they hadn’t really spoken in nearly a year things would go back to their usual rhythm quickly, right? …
Flaire, batting 0 for 2 at this point, is more than a little surprised that their cousin seems to have gained an incredibly abrasive personality since the last time they met and more than a touch of hostility to them in particular.
Sparrow Sandvik (She/her) - Half-Elf (Wood) Sorcerer/Cleric - Late teens to early twenties
Art reference:
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/170832
https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1473879
The rope keeper at the adventure camp.
Flaire's cousin on their non-elven side.
Much like Flaire, she grew up with trips to the adventure camp. She's always found a connection with the magical woods that the camp hosts. She never got lost in them like the other kids, they seemed to like her, and Sparrow found them to be her special place where she could retreat when needed.
When she was a kid, she always idolised Flaire, seeing them as a super hero of sorts. This dulled over time as Flaire was around less and less and eventually disappeared for a full year.
Sparrow, during her turn to adulthood, had been dating a religious girl and ended up attending a religious college focused on training this with an interest in becoming clerics or paladins. Against the odds, Sparrow was blessed by one of the Gods and became a cleric. When she told her girlfriend, expecting her to be happy she instead got dumped.
Sparrow returned to the adventure camp and took a job as the rope keeper. She was one of the only people who could reliably travel through the woods so it seemed like a perfect fit.
She is not over the breakup.
Cassidy Reeves (He/Him) - Elf Bard - Mid twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1349935
The song leader of the adventure camp.
To be honest, Cassidy is not that developed in Libris yet. He was originally from Liminal Horror where he was a very cool country musician that managed to survive flicking a cigarette butt onto a giant ratking zombie (barely, BARELY, but he did survive).
Mercenaries
Isaiah (He/Him) - Tiefling Wild Magic Barbarian - Late twenties to early thirties
Art reference: https://www.tumblr.com/gayb0wsr
Isaiah was originally raised in a compound of religious zealots that were enslaving tieflings that ended up being destroyed by a mercenary guild run by a human named Noah.
Noah adopted Isaiah and raised and trained him to fight. He is now the second in command of the guild.
At some point, Isaiah managed to find the entrance to Libris’ plane of magic, The Lining, which ended with Isaiah getting impaled through the chest by a massive crystal. How exactly he survived this, no one is entirely sure but now Isaiah has a crystal in his chest and the ability to unleash devastating magical effects on the battlefield.
Darien Morosi (He/Him) - Human Rogue/Fighter - Early to Mid Twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1473879
Darien has at one point been living a perfectly ordinary life in a perfect ordinary town. He'd been a law student and would've become a pretty ordinary small town lawyer. Instead the apocalypse hit. Seemingly every natural disaster hit at once. If that wasn't bad enough, zombies whose bites spread their form like a disease began to appear.
This baffling turn of events broke any sense of reality Darien had, he locked himself in a library half as a safezone but mostly to research everything he could on surviving, disease, zombies, infection transmission, biology, and anything else to the much neglect of his physical form.
When he finally left the library he had just enough survival skills that alongside some new friends he managed to make a safe haven in what was once a spire temple in the centre of the city. It quickly went from feeling like a safe haven to a prison as one man, Logan, was determined to fill the leadership void he was so adamant was there. He tried over and over to take charge, to the point where suddenly facing every natural disaster possible and possibly turning into an undead husk doesn't seem so bad.
He's caught in an attempt to escape with one of the survivors that started this haven leading to her being badly injured. Darien is blamed (and blames himself) for this, so he is given the option to either stay and work with Logan having learnt his lesson or be exiled without supplies. He chooses to leave. He walks for weeks, barely surviving by clinging on through sheer spite.
He just kept walking. Until, as suddenly as the apocalypse hit, Darien found himself in a mercenary camp. He looked around confused before promptly passing out from exhaustion and malnutrition. He ends up joining the mercenary guild once he's back to health.
He ends up learning that the town is literally in a pocket dimension now cut off from the rest of Libris.
Marcoh “Roe” Daava (He/Him) - Human Warlock / Barbarian - Mid to Late Twenties
(Daava is pronounced Da[R]-va)
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1414503
Roe made a deal with the Divine Fragment of Hands and got roped into a cult formed by them. With Roe having been the one to bring the cult together.
Roe is an incredibly well spoken man having had elocution lessons at a young age and holds incredibly composed demeanour. For those that have seen it, however, would note Roe has an incredible puissance and love of inflicting damage.
That said, Roe grew up dirt poor and the very definition of a street rat, openly stealing from stores, getting in random fights with other teens, and shouting matches with strangers.
One such fight, got infinitely more complex when Roe was shot in the side of the head. Said shot being in response to Roe having clawed out the eye of what he assumed was just Some Mouthy Fuck. Turned out said Fuck was in fact an incredibly well protected mobster.
Luckily said shot was not lethal, unluckily however Roe’s body was taken in by the gang so “proper revenge” could be had, afterall being humiliated by a child in combat is a pretty bad look for any respected highwayman.
The back alley doctor tasked with keeping Roe alive took pity on him, claiming Roe had died suddenly. But when questioned, the doctor was forced to impale Roe in the chest with a scalpel. This is where the fragment of hands made its deal, using its many hands to cover Roe’s mouth and ensure the scalpel bent just enough to miss anything vital. In return Roe gained the horrifying ability to touch at a long distance and use a mass of hands for grabbing, killing, stealing and, occasionally mixing drinks.
Elaina Gauis (She/Her) - Human Warlock - Late twenties to early thirties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1414503
Elaina made a deal with the Divine Fragment of Mirrors and got forced into a cult formed by them. She's a lot less chill about this than Roe.
Originally a career criminal, Elaina met the fragment during a heist. She was offered a portion of the fragments power which she impulsively agreed to, not realising the cost would be her sight.
Panicked at her sudden blindness and realising the guards were on their way, Elaina ended up burning the top portion of her face, making herself look like a victim of those that owned the house she had been robbing. This worked and she avoided arrest.
Is incredibly pissed off about being forced onto the cult believing that she has already paid more than a high enough price for her powers. The divine fragment disagrees, happily pointing to her contract of servitude.
She is still working in the criminal underworld, though now as a dealbroker more often than doing heists herself. However, those who see her as a weak target quickly meet their match as Elaina's quick thinking and intelligence hasn't dulled, and her new power over mirrors and reflections leads to nasty surprises for those fighting her.
Libi's Ship
Rhys Mourningdove (He/Him) - Half-Elf Grave Cleric - Mid Sixties (Early 40’s appearance)
Art reference: https://twitter.com/nooskadraws
Rhys is the best doctor on Libris. This is just a fact - one that he's frankly egotistical about but is true nonetheless.
Notably, he got this title before he became a cleric, using non-magical methods. He had been asked about this and even offered blessing by the Gods as a way to help more people, but he always refused. He didn't need the power of the Gods to help people.
The Gods were not best pleased with this answer and set Rhys a test. Rhys wasn't actually told about this test, he just found his wife getting ill without explanation. Ill with a sickness that he could not cure.
As he realised there was nothing he could do, he prayed to the gods for any way to help her but received no help and instead instructions to just wait, which Rhys ignored, continuing to try more and more outlandish methods.
Eventually a divine gave him a solution. They gave him a potion. Though confused why now, Rhys didn’t have much time.
Giving the potion to his wife did cure her sickness. It also turned her into a lich and hasn't been seen since. The specific trickster god that answered Rhys was very amused.
The god that set the initial test appeared to Rhys, frankly annoyed that he had turned what was meant to be a test of patience and faith into unleashing a powerful undead creature onto Libris. Rhys blames them for this but finally agrees to receive cleric powers though he still actively avoids using them during his work as a doctor, mostly to prove a point.
Libitina Puch (She/Her) - Winter Eladrin Undying Warlock/Assassin Rogue - Unaging early 40s (early three hundreds)
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
Libitina was born as the only child of an elven noble family and knew one day that she would inherit the house and, so long as she could keep public favour, would rule the city by herself. At least, that was her belief as she studied both law and economics for running the city, etiquette and customs for dealing with nobles, and poisons and blades for dealing with threats.
Her plans of a solo rule were apparently not taken seriously by her parents who arranged a marriage for her with another elven noble who was pleasant enough, but Libi had never really had any interest in men and quickly grew frustrated with the courting process.
Getting more and more annoyed at her life plans being ruined, she began to go out more into the vast wilderness surrounding the city. A place where legend had it there was hidden a crossing point to the realm of the fae. Libi mostly used the place to gather natural poisons. But one day when out, she met the woman that would change her life. An archfey of the Undying Court.
The fey was the most beautiful person she had ever seen and she addressed them as one would a noble ruler. The two did an interesting dance that night, one that most would call flirting but both participants were too pretentious to call it anything so simple. Libi left the encounter with a charm, some strange new powers, and the promise for more if did favours for the Undying Court.
Of course, she still needed to figure out the mess of being engaged. But that was an easy enough problem to solve. All it took was a bottle of wine, a gift from her parents to herself, a single glass and he was gone. Poisoned. The forged documents she had left in her parent's study detailing the purchase of poison and plans to kill her got them out of the way as well.
Of course, her involvement is just rumours, the official judgement by the high court of The Elmmyu’rra States that her parents had tried to kill her and just happened to kill whatever his name was first and thus were sentenced to execution. Libi was just oh so sad about this, she couldn't possibly think about getting engaged again for at least a couple of centuries.
She's proven herself to be a surprisingly good ruler given her tendencies to allegedly assassinate nobles and do the binding of the fey in exchange for immortality. After all, she did her work to get to this position, she was going to put effort in now she actually has what she wanted. It's those living outside her city that need to be worried.
Piper Re'leshi (She/Her) - Drow Dream Druid - Child to early teens (Between 50 and 100).
Art reference: https://coolcattime.tumblr.com/post/624895502460338176/i-found-a-picture-that-i-realised-that-i-never
Piper has always been told by her parents that she is the prodigal princess that will lead their family back into the ruling class of the underdark and while it's been since she's seen them, she still believes that with all her heart.
A drow with stark white skin and only a few dark patches, being born onto the surface of Libris was far more inconvenient for her than most as even brief sun exposure can leave her burnt and in pain. Eventually this became too much for her parents to deal with and, in what was meant to be a brief visit with her uncle, they left her with him with no intention of returning.
Piper had always admired her uncle. He was an arachnologist - which she thought was very important as spiders were very important - and his house is connected to old smuggler's tunnels which connect to caves - places that Piper can explore without fear of the sun. She misses her parents, she wishes she knew when they were getting back, but in the meantime she enjoys exploring the tunnels and learning from her uncle. Plus her uncle lets her have a pet! Her very best friend, Mr Dog the goliath birdeater spider.
One day when exploring the tunnels, Piper runs into another elf. A wood elf boy around her age. He's carrying a wooden sword and seems as surprised to find Piper as she is to find him. She asks what he's doing and he explains that he's looking for the tunnel monster. Piper has never heard of the tunnel monster but happily agrees to look with him when he gives her his spare sword.
They become good friends as she helps guide him around the tunnels and he tells her about the wilderness around the city that has a crossing point to the realm of the fey. He's in training with a druid with a circle that uses the power of this point for their magic. Finding the tunnel monster is a secret mission from them so he can become a fully fledged member. He invites Piper to meet them and even though she wants to, she explains her issues with the sun so he decides that, until they can figure out a way to stop the sun from hurting Piper, he'll just teach her druid stuff.
All in all, Piper's life is going great until one night her uncle pulls her out of bed completely panicked and tells her they need to leave. She's confused as he pulls her through the house down towards the tunnels, until she sees them breaking down the door. People in shiny metal armour with giant weapons. Piper grabs Mr Dog and her sword and tries her best to lead her uncle through the tunnels. But she's scared and a kid, and her uncle isn't an adventurer. The scary people catch up. They keep saying things about them being evil and a dungeon and Piper doesn't understand. She tries to defend them with magic and her sword but it doesn't work very well.
A saviour comes in the form of a woman in a ballgown who appears out of mist and seems quite annoyed at the armoured men being in her city. Piper isn't quite sure what happened to them, but she and her uncle don't need to worry about them anymore. Lady Libitina was very nice and gave Piper a charm that let her go out in the sun without it hurting her skin (it still hurts her eyes, but she likes exploring nevertheless) and she got to meet her friend's druid circle and start really learning magic. Plus her friend apparently found the tunnel monster (neither her nor her friend know when, but the Druid circle leader said he did) so all's well that ends well.
Sigourney Romero (She/Her) - Human Enchantment Wizard/Storyteller Warlock - Late twenties to early thirties
Art reference: <https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1342558>
Sigourney is a playwright. She and her brother used to travel through the towns and cities of Libris putting on plays that told the stories of the Gods. She would write the plays and use her magic to create living puppets to act as creatures and monsters. Her brother, Leigh, was an actor, able to portray gods as if he actually was one. The rest of the actors would be hired locally and their plays were seen as important work as in Libris if the Gods are not remembered, they stop being gods, so spreading their word and stories was necessary.
One fateful night in the climax of a performance everyone in the theatre - cast, crew, audience, everyone - blacked out. It was as if times skipped forward by ten minutes. One moment Leigh and his co-star, the son of a local noble, were acting out a climactic scene the next, Leigh was standing over the corpse of the other actor covered in blood. Chaos erupted.
Leigh was arrested. Sigourney's head ached trying to figure out what had happened. He had to have killed him, there was no one else who could've and he had been covered in blood. But her brother didn't have the powers to make everyone forget ten minutes and if he did he was at least smart enough to make them forget more time so he wasn't so obviously the criminal. But they didn't have enemies, anyone who would want to frame them, except for the Gods themselves. Obviously no one believed her on this idea. Leigh was found guilty and sentenced to life in the gladiatorial arena.
Knowing she didn't have the power or money to do anything about his fate, Sigourney left. Always saying she didn't care, that he was a killer, why would she care, but always searching for anything that could give her any sort of chance to help him. She kept travelling, continuing her shows as puppet only affairs now just as likely to tell the story of the Gods inflicting terror on some poor mortal than to tell their origins or myths. And during her travels, she heard of someone, possibly something, that could help her.
She travelled across two continents to find the place, hiring a mercenary to make sure she had protection as she left the well travelled roads. It took months, but she finally reached the charred library in the middle of a long since abandoned town. In the centre of the building, to an audience of seemingly no one but herself and a hired thug, she began to tell the origin story of Libris. Of the powerful entities that had created The Great Book to tell stories only for the people of the world to feel terrorised and create gods to seal away their creators. Of how, while they mostly died or disappeared, a remnant powerful entities does still exist.
The story is interrupted with the mercenary kicking over the puppets and pointing his sword at Sigourney's throat. Fed up with what seems to be madness, he demanded that she shut up, pay him everything she had, or he'd kill her and take it any way. Before she could answer, a new voice echoed through the library lecturing that it was awfully rude to interrupt a story before it's concluded. The mercenary's eyes widened and he suddenly turned into a book that was picked up and inspected by the new presence in the room. A being made of paper and cloth and ink, a combination of the reminding energy of the creators of Libris. Before Sigourney was The Storyteller.
Impressed by the story, they questioned what precisely Sigourney wanted and she said she wanted a patron. She knew that they still touched the world of Libris, occasionally touching a person's life to make it more interesting, and she wanted to be granted powers that could let her fight back against the Gods. The Storyteller agreed, on one condition: Sigourney needed to tell her own story, the truthful story that she had been avoiding for so long. Reluctant but desperate, Sigourney told the story of herself and her brother and that terrible moment.
Sigourney was granted the powers of story, and was given a book that she could use both to communicate with her patron. She could also write in it to make things happen. They had to be interesting, had to make sense and not create plot holes, but so long as she could write them Sigourney now had the power to use stories to influence the world of Libris. And Sigourney had quite a few stories she wanted to tell.
Mind control Crew
Wyme Fletcher (He/Him) - Human Aberrant Mind Sorcerer - early to mid twenties
Art reference: https://www.tumblr.com/netoey/188189654012?source=share
Wyme grew up in an orphanage and lived quite a normal, if a social life of most people in the small town he was born in. When he was 18, like most of the rest of the people who grew up here, he left to see what else was out there.
Fortunately for the narrative, that was a town that had just been eradicated by an Aboleth. Meaning as Wyme entered its population had just became one. Deciding to stay, steering others away, and just learn to avoid the limits of the aboleth’s mind control, Wyme found a new motivation in his hatred for that fish but also extreme paranoia.
His proximity to the aboleth awarded a horrible and wet form of psionic power, similar to that of the aboleth itself, plus some physical transformations like a long tail and third eye.
Amanda “Am-Mi” Miriam (She/Her) - Human Mastermind Rogue - Early to mid twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1342558
The daughter of a prolific (if corrupt) prosecutor who wants to follow in her father's footsteps.
Lives in a city with a famously harsh court system where simply lying in court can result in the destruction of one's soul. Of course this can be avoided if you know the right methods for dishonesty, something Am-Mi's father is quite happy to share with his daughter.
Am-Mi cares little if the people she's prosecuting are actually guilty, she just wanted to be the smartest person in the courtroom. If people were smart they wouldn't have gotten arrested. After all, she's gotten away with murder so if anyone manages to get themself arrested, they deserve everything she can throw at them.
Island
Tabitha Dissimulo (She/Her) - Tiefling Illusion Wizard - Early twenties
(Dissimulo is not trans, just resentful of the name “TaBiThA”)
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1564386
The daughter of two magic school professors.
Dissimulo was born named simply “Tabitha” and told she could have a last name when she graduated from a magic college with honours. She got annoyed at this idea quickly and started going by the virtue name of Dissimulo meaning she wouldn’t even need a last name.
She has enrolled in the study of Illusion magic, which she does have some interest in, but she's far more interested in linguistics and translation. She currently speaks and can read seven languages. She's only attending the university due to the presence of an apparently untranslated tome that she wants to decode.
She also ended up as the apprentice of the head of a mysterious magic guild known as Atlanta. She did not apply for nor ask for this job, but it pays well and very very little is expected from her so she has accepted the situation.
Lance De La'Fluer (He/Him) - Human Monk - Early twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
A professional fighter in the dwarven fight pits where he plays an elf - these fight pits are a travelling event of flamboyant faux-violence. He’s also Dissimulo's college housemate.
He’s also been recruited by Atlanta, though less scouted and more that Dissi brings him to work with her and no one’s stopped her.
To be honest, Lance doesn't have a backstory. He was invented as the Ultimate Professional Wrestler for a Danganronpa AU and hasn't devolved much backstory wise but I love him and he's the best.
He has a sister though :))) (we think)
Villains
Taurus Linustep (He/Him) - Aasimar Cult Leader - Early to mid thirties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331 (This art is of a human version of Taurus - it was for an AU and I've just not gotten around to drawing his actual form)
Taurus was born into a cult looking like the miracle child they had been looking for. An aasimar with halos surrounding most of his features, he was from a young age marked as the next leader of the cult and taught their true goals and ambitions and his words were followed like prophecies.
Unlike his younger sister, Taurus didn't have any real powers of divination and instead is faking it to lead the cult in the direction he wants and to make sure he maintains power.
He wants to gather the relics of the star deities to reconstruct a broken superweapon and use it to take over Libris and the stars beyond.
Logan Charles (He/Him) - Human Paladin - Late Twenties
Art reference: https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331
Darien's ex-friend, from Logan’s POV, Logan took a very different view to the end of the world, finding a desperate need to be in control.
He eventually ended up in charge during the apocalypse due to his Paladin training letting him cure injury and disease and the zombies’ surprise weakness to fire. Leading to the rift that formed between him, Darien and their other friend who helped start the haven in the first place that would lead to Darien leaving and the friend being badly hurt.
Furious and feeling betrayed by Darien abandonment, the tower is now a literal prison for his friends to make sure none of them can leave or disobey him. Turning him from hapless leader to fullbore dictator overnight. He’s grown to love this power.
Kinda sorta planning to break the bubble dimension and unleash the apocalypse on the rest of Libris so he can further his dictatorship.
