Hi, I'm Eybe!

I made this blog to have a place to obsess a little over my fixations (rn it is Good Omens obv).

I've been writing! If you want, check my ff on AO3 :) (English is not my first language, so expect mistakes. Não que eu seja muito melhor em português, mas sabe como é né)

how i keep myself motivated in playing sims 4

i’m no sims expert but i’m writing this post to share how i usually play my game and maybe it may help people.

NOTE: some of this may NOT apply to you, and if you feel that you don’t resonate with it then that’s fine. i may mention some mods and cc ahead since i play on pc.

rotational gameplay & aging off

i have a lot of households on my save, and when i’m bored of one, i go to another. each household is a different story, different chaos and different atmosphere. i play with aging off, and age them up manually so i don’t feel rushed.

if i want to, i can turn aging on for active household.. why i enjoy rotational gameplay is that it feels like the worlds come to life. when i’m playing with a household and bring them to a community lot, i will see my other households i’ve played with and feel familiar with them coz i know how their life and how their story goes but they’re just there hanging out on their own while i’m playing with another household.

have a main save file and stick to it, don’t discard it.

i believe many people do this. i think this is quite crucial for me personally. starting a new one every time kind of always demotivate me because you have to restart again.

if you’re bored of that save file you can create another one for fun but don’t ignore your main one especially when you’ve worked hard on it.

renovate renovate

recently i have this household that i felt so bored of, and i realise it’s because of the house. not like there’s anything wrong with the house… but, it’s just been like that for a pretty long time. after i renovated it, it feels so brand new and more lived-in, and since it’s new to the eyes, i felt refreshed and more willing to play through that household again. i added some clutters and stuff, and just sat there, doing some subtle renovations, changed wallpapers and stuff.

don’t force yourself to know your sims fully

i know it sounds weird to say this because you’re the one who created them. sometimes when you create a sim , built a house, you may be like “ok so, what now?” well, that’s quite common. the sim that you’ve created, it’s okay if you don’t feel connected with them. in the early games, they can be like a stranger to you, so it’s good to be curious as you go along.

maybe put it like this— your sims are not a blank canvas, they’re a canvas with colours and identity but they’re not revealed yet. take your time with gameplay to find out more about them :)

stop having ‘same face’ sims

i know we all have a specific style when we create our sims. there’s no wrong in experimenting with your sims faces, making them different from one another. i personally find face references on the internet very helpful or play with randomisations. i recommend zerbu’s more presets mods or custom sliders but that’s all up to one’s preference!

keep only the cc / mods that you will use.

this is just personal preference but if i find myself having too much cc, i sometimes overlook the things that the game already have. always tidy up your folders and keep things that you need in your game so you don’t feel overwhelmed with too much content.

personally, in my early game i only play vanilla. then i slowly add on some cc and mods if i find them necessary.

youtube creators recommendations

petey plays: he shows you very interesting ways on how to enjoy the game mostly WITHOUT cc or mods. sometimes, you’ll find out things you didn’t know through his videos too, or find out ways on how to play the game in ways you never thought of.

oshinsims: i get very inspired whenever i watch her gameplays. the way she’s connected with her sims is just amazing because she talks about them as if they’re real and you’ll get so engrossed with her storyline. also she plays the sims with minimal cc so sometimes you’ll get to know about the game a lot more through her videos too.

i also love watching random simmer’s current households and it can spark inspiration for gameplay

stop the game from generating townies

my sims don’t generate townies anymore because i pour the game with npc service sims, townies from the gallery and use a mod called ‘no random townies’ by zero and ‘sim spawner tool’ by carls guide. sometimes i’d use ‘carl.killrandoms’ cheat to delete all randomly generated townies but with zero’s mod , it already prevents a lot of autogenerated sims. don’t forget to keep adding sims from the gallery.

make major changes

if things get too stale and there’s just no inspiration, make major changes. probably give them a full makeover, move them out of a region, have them cut ties with someone, break up with somebody, run away from home, or anything you’re too afraid of doing. maybe that might spark your inspiration and make things progress more

I've been mulling over the thought of a new legacy style challenge to do now that For Rent has released (in addition to my premades gameplay). So I jotted down a few notes and before I knew it, a legacy was born.

I wanted something with a bit of randomness in it and so this wheel when spun, will decide which generation will be played in which order.

Spin once before creating your founder, then spin again when your legacy heirs are pregnant with their firstborns or deciding to start a family. You may wish to use the generation colours as name inspiration or names inspired by the generation theme. Reroll any previously played generations, or copy and edit the wheel to remove them as you progress.

Only one mandatory trait per generation, the others can be randomised or chosen. But all children of that generation must have the mandatory trait, not just the heir. I mean, you never know when you might lose an heir, right?

Your founder sim may start with the full 20,000 simoleons and buy or rent their first home. Outside of the mandatory trait and allowed aspirations for the rolled generation, they can be entirely of your own creation. The legacy family are not confined to one lot, they may move to any neighbourhood that makes sense for the story you are playing. You can keep other family members on the lot, or not, as you wish.

RED - Generation Love

Romantically minded since your teen years, you feel incomplete without another sim on your arm, whether that is your Mr/Ms Right or your Mr/Ms Right Now!

Aspirations - Serial Romantic, Soulmate, Villainous Valentine

Trait - Romantic

Career - Either one of the GTW careers or the WFM careers. No rabbit holes for you.

Goals

Follow your sim to work every day or work from home

Attend every Romance Festival from when your sim is a teen and onwards

Leave at least one sim at the altar

Complete the message in a bottle collection

Woohoo in all possible locations (animal shed, boardwalk ride, photo booth, observatory, sauna, hot tub, bed, tent, shower, waterfall, closet, pile of leaves, sleeping pod, coffin, party bush, Brindleton Bay Lighthouse, Rocketship, Money Vault, Dumpster, hot spring, ice cave, treehouse)

Either lose your soulmate early in life (to death or affair) which turns you into a Serial Romantic or Villainous Valentine, or sow your wild oats in your teen and young adult days before finding your soulmate as an adult/elder.

Have at least one unplanned child via risky woohoo (MCCC) and fight for primary custody if the baby is not born within your household.

Create a paternity test situation if using the paternity module from lumpinou’s RPO mod

Incur Agnes Crumplebottom’s wrath at least once

VERMILLION - Generation Create

You yearn to create something extraordinary and live the kind of bohemian lifestyle you've always dreamt of.

Aspirations - Painter Extraordinaire, Musical Genius, Bestselling Author, Master Actor, Master Maker, Lord of the Knits

Trait - Creative

Career - You can make your money from any creative pursuits, career or freelance.

Goals

Complete Artistic Prodigy, Creative Genius or Slumber Party Animal child aspiration

Complete the Holiday Crackers and Decorative Eggs collection

Set up a stall as either the Flea Market or at a Community Space (or sell online on Plopsy) to sell your wares

Hang out at Thrifttea regularly throughout your teens, attend at least one Fashion Show, Amateur Comedy Night or Poetry evening

Marry another creative sim

Have three children over the course of your life

If completed Bestselling Author aspiration, write a Book of Life and bring someone back from the dead

If completing the Musical Genius aspiration, get to lvl8 in handiness and craft your musical instrument on the woodworking table

Max three of the following traits: handiness, painting, violin, guitar, piano, pipe organ, DJ mixing, singing, knitting, cross-stitch, juice fizzing, fabrication, acting, writing, photography, nectar making

Create a creative club (book club, life drawing club, punk band, improv club etc) and hold weekly meetings

Let one of your kids’ friends move in

ORANGE - Generation Food

Food and drink are your raison d'etre.

Aspirations - Master Chef, Master Mixologist, Expert Nectar Maker, Appliance Wiz

Trait - Foodie

Career - Food Critic, Culinary, own your own restaurant or food stall, maybe even an online cookery vlogger. If it’s food and drink related, you can do it.

Goals

Work as a Fast Food Employee or Barista as a teen

Complete the Experimental Food Photos collection

Win the Spice Curry Challenge at the Spice Festival

Marry a sim who works in a restaurant you have visited, or a food stall you’ve frequented, or who is in someway connected to the food industry (pizza/grocery delivery person or food critic all count)

Unlock and complete the Grilled Cheese Aspiration

Max at least three of the following: Baking, Cooking, Gourmet Cooking, Nectar Making, Mixology, Juice Fizzing

Quit your career as you become an adult and open your own food or drink related business (or if you already owned your own business, sell it and get a new food related job)

Kill someone with Pufferfish Nigiri (on purpose or by accident)

AMBER - Generation Travel

You have been bitten by the wanderlust bug and spent most of your childhood dreaming of all the simlands you wanted to visit. Now that you are older, you just can’t seem to stay in one place.

Aspirations - City Native, Beach Life, Mt Komorebi Sightseer, Fount of Tomerani Knowledge, Jungle Explorer,

Trait - Dance Machine + (optional) Child of the Islands

Career - Freelance or Part time jobs only or errands and odd jobs to make money. For example, a freelance travel photographer would be a great idea.

Goals

Marry a sim you meet on your travels in a destination wedding

Complete all the above aspirations

Retire to your favourite travel destination

Complete Buried Treasure, Seashells, Omiscan Treasures, Ancient Omiscan Artifacts, Snow Globes, Posters collections

Live in each sim world for at least two days each and visit both vacation worlds before you retire.

If you have Child of the Islands, perform the summon Island Elementals, befriend one, invite them to move in and have a child with them for the sulani mana inherited trait

Max Photography and have a collection of photos, one from each world

Visit Sylvan Glade and the Forgotten Grotto

YELLOW - Generation Animal

You can’t resist making friends with all animals everywhere and in fact, you prefer them to other sims. Your love for animals was ignited the day that your parent bought you your first pet.

Aspirations - Friend of the Animals, Country Caretaker, Championship Rider

Trait - Animal Enthusiast (or Dog Lover/Cat Lover/Horse Lover/Rancher if they are more appropriate to the storyline)

Career - Own either a farm, ranch or a veterinary clinic

Goals

Own a Hamster, Rat, Pygmy Hedgehog or Bubalus as a child

Make friends with the monster under the bed

Always have at least one animal in the house from child age upwards

Complete Village Fair ribbons collection, if your sim owns their own farm, alternatively win at the Finchwick Fair

If on a farm play with the simple living lot trait

Have only one child because you are more interested in your animals (other risky woohoo offspring are also ok)

"The Ice cream flavors legacy challenge"

Its been A WHILE since i write down a legacy challenge,but that doesn't mean that i don't want to write more! I just can't figure out ideas for legacies...and then i had this idea!

General rules:

You can choose the lifespan of your choice or change it with MCCM

Sims can look whatever you want but they MUST reflect their personality

Heir sims MUST represent their flavor color(s) in their clothes,hair AND house,but they can have natural skintones (like NSB)

You can't use cheats,mods and/or Cc ONLY for an unfair advantage unless for storytelling

Sims who aren't heirs can have random or selected traits

Requiered* packs:

Uhhh so apparently at some point during my first week back to school I got 200 followers? BONKERS. I think I follow like 900ish folks but am endlessly delighted that anyone would look at my pixel babies! <3 So, in celebration, here are some details of each heiress from the first Sims 4 legacy challenge I ever completed (the Autumnal Zodiac Challenge). It was a 12-generation legacy challenge and took me like 7 months to do since I was playing it on the normal lifespan. They are very much alpha, and from before I learned to clutter up my spaces.

In order: Calliope, Tallo, Alice, Harriet, Deborah, Marlowe, Hannah, Eleanor, Penelope, Tilly, Sinead, annnd Amser!

Calliope was the Aquarius generation, she liked yoga and hosted a weekly movie night with her best friends. Her husband was Akira Kibo, and they had 3 kids overall.

Thallo was the youngest child of Calliope and Akira's kids (who died while she was still a teen), and was the Pisces. She was bisexual, a hopeless romantic, with heterochromia. She loved dyeing her hair and painting, and had two daughters who absolutely loathed each other. Had a lot of romantic drama before marrying the only child of Gunther Munch and Liberty Lee, Scott Much-Lee.

Alice was your stereotypical hot-headed, high-energy Aries. She and her older sister fought nonstop until they were both young adults. She completed the athletic aspiration, so lived long enough to meet her first great-grandchild before kicking it. She only had one child.

Harriet (Taurus) loved gardening, cooking, and karaoke in fairly equal measure. Since she found being an only child to be quite lonely, she had four kids, two of whom were twins. Possibly one of the most peaceful generations of this legacy.

Deborah (Gemini) was one of my most favorite heiresses to play, since she had such a messy life that consisted of moving out to the big city on her own, cheating on her partners, having twins of her own, living in an apartment that required constant fixing-up, and making it as a freelance writer. She was also a total dog person, and loved spicy food. I don't think she ever missed a festival in San Myshuno.

Marlowe (Cancer) was the older twin, and aspired to be the perfect mom and housewife. She made a packed lunch for her kids and husband every day, had her family and friends over every Sunday for a tea party complete with three different types of pastries

Hannah (Leo) absolutely hated how smothered she felt by her mother and dreamed of being a singer-songwriter. Which, she was very successful as, and ended up being the first celebrity in the family. She had a one-night stand with a fan after a show and ended up pregnant, but had very little interest in parenting. She had a number of lovers throughout her life, but never married.

After a rough childhood in which she was more or less ignored and left to her own devices, Eleanor (Virgo) was the definition of self-reliant. She and her husband separated for a brief time due to him cheating on her, but they worked through it. She created a robot that helped her by cleaning the house and cooking while she focused on her science career.

Penelope (Libra) was another favorite heiress of mine! She was an internet celebrity due to her family blog. She loved taking pictures, and in fact had an entire wall in her Windenburg home covered in the family photos she had taken over the years. She loved camping, traveling to new hot spots, and spending time with her big family.

Tilly (Scorpio) was an actual genius who grew up to become a police detective, specializing in solving murders. She was a big fan of psychological thrillers and mystery novels, and upgraded every single appliance in their house. Her husband, who was her high school sweetheart, ended up cheating on her with her younger sister, which shattered her heart. She remarried a coworker when she was an elder.

Sinead (Sagittarius) was a hot mess who loved clubbing, hooking up with random men, and traveling. She lived in Selvadorada, Sulani, San Myshuno, and finally settled down in Strangerville. She had three daughters with three different men, never married, and never wound up in a committed relationship. Btw, the first picture of a toddler wandering off towards the moon is of a baby Sinead, already demonstrating her wanderlust.

And finally, we have Amser (Capricorn). Ngl, she was my favorite. As the eldest of her siblings, she had a strong sense of responsibility starting at a very young age. Since her mother provided no direction, Amser was extremely self-disciplined, getting A's throughout her childhood and college years. She was a lesbian and had no interest in having her own children, having more-or-less raised her siblings, but she was a dedicated aunt and loved cats. She became stupid-wealthy, impressive since by this point the family was already crazy rich, and when she died she divided her assets amongst her siblings, niblings, and grand-niblings.

And that's it! I had a lot of fun with that legacy challenge, and have wanted to complete another ever since. I did several in Sims 3 and Sims 2, but for some reason seem to get a lot more easily distracted for Sims 4.

Hey there! I’ve been a fan of the Collinses (and associates! lol) ever since you started posting. Now that I’ve begun my own blog, I have to say (with the utmost admiration and respect) I’m stunned that you’re able to manage so many damn families!

I’ve played plenty of fundie saves before, but always with a single heir per generation, which means I’m woefully inexperienced with rotational gameplay. It’s so difficult, especially when you have to juggle varying levels of fundie-ness between households, extended family relationships, constant pregnancies, timeline issues and taking posed/stages screenshots for posts on top of actual gameplay!

If you’re up for it, I would so appreciate any advice/tips/tricks you have to offer re: dealing with rotational fundie gameplay. Either way, many thanks for sticking around for so long and sharing your sims with us ☺️

Hi! I'm so happy that you enjoy the blog, honestly I've been doubting whether that many people read it anymore, I just keep posting for my own personal satisfaction. As usual I'm a rambler, so this is about to be a mini-thesis, which will be below the cut!

If there's anything that I can say to explain how I do it, it's that you should just plan. Plan, Plan, and Plan. I micromanage every little thing that happens in my sims lives, I have two saves: one for gameplay and one for taking pictures. This is so that I can be ahead in terms of the plot lines and pictures without having to rush the actual game. I've mentioned it a few times here and there, but I have this mega doc with literally everything that pertains to my sims. It's got their life stories, love stories, random facts like allergies, their birthdays, the 'outcomes' for labour and delivery which effect how many kids they have, what kind of jobs they work, etc. For planning I also have a mega note on my phone with each post and what I'll write for it, I plan what will be said and who will be included, and sometimes the outfits required for them to wear or whatever poses I'm going to need for the post. It's also where I dump future ideas that I'll eventually work into a post if I want to. Since weddings are a pillar of fundie life, I have a separate note with all things weddings, before I wedding I plan the outfits for everyone from the bride and groom and their parents to the bridal party. I assign the wedding a colour scheme and then assign different people different colours. I also plan which poses I'm going to do, which for the main couples is a lot since they have a lot of posts for their weddings. For side characters that only get one post for their weddings I'll usually do a whole photoshoot then just pick two or three pictures to post.

One thing that also helped was me putting them in categories like 'heir' 'part heir' or 'side character', that helps me prioritise whose stories to focus on and how much they'll be seen on the blog. Honestly speaking, there are some sims that I only interact with when it's time to include them in a storyline, for that I let the Neighbourhood Stories take over and check in from time to time when I need to add a kid to the family or dress them for events. Since I have two saves, what I've found myself doing is playing with the side characters in the 'picture save' so I don't lose any game time that I could be using to play with the main characters in the main save. For rotational gameplay in order to make posts, I select certain narrators and basically just rotate between them with select characters sometimes getting a post or two. For this generation I've got Adalynn, Valentina, Lana, Maggie, and Brittany as narrators (there may be more, but for now I'm sticking with these). With Lana marrying into Adalynn's family I'm experimenting with her showing us what life is like for those in Newcrest since Adalynn moved away from home when she got married. Right now I see her as an opportunity to include more side characters since she's married to the 12th child in a cohort of 13, so her experiences and interpersonal relationships will be different than the older siblings and we may see more other character involvement . Maggie and Brittany are seldom narrators, with Brittany only really showing up at Harvestfest to do her family catch up - though I'm also experimenting how to bring them into the plot a bit more because they bring the political drama.

Since pregnancy is involves the changing of time and seasons (and I play on a 4 day = 1 year system vs the game's 28 day year), I make very good use of MCCC and pause pregnancies so that I can have control of how they're documented. The way pregnancies will be documented depends on how I've labelled the characters, narrators will always have more focus on their pregnancies (even though Valentina is done having children she'll narrate the pregnancies in her family) and will share about other pregnancies in the family. Circling back round to the 2 game system, since the way I play is faster than the game's passage of time, once I'm done posing and taking screenshots in my picture save then I usually sit back and actually enjoy playing in the actual game save, where I will then rotate households depending on whatever mood I'm in.

Tag game for historical simblers!

1. What has been your favorite period to play in or which one are you most excited for?

So every time I try to play the decades challenge, I’ve never actually gotten past the 1890s, so currently that’s my favorite period by default. But I’m very excited for the 1920s!

2. Do you have a favorite piece of historical cc? (CAS or BB)

I can’t choose a favorite piece but I currently have almost all the 1890s stuff from @vintagesimstress and @gilded-ghosts! I don’t really have any BB content except for this typewriter.

3. Who is your favorite sim currently?

Not much competition yet, so I’ll say my founders Horace and Vanessa. But I’m further ahead in gameplay than posts and their daughter is currently one of my favs for storyline purposes.

4. What is your favorite world?

For historical gameplay, Brindleton Bay and Henford-on-Bagley. Good out of the way lots that make it easier to imagine it being set in that time period. In general, I tend to build and play in Oasis Springs the most.

5. Are you more gameplay or story focused?

I like to try and be a balance of both. It’s more gameplay right now since they’re just starting out but will get more story focused as we get passed the 1900s.

6. Do you like to play with pets in your historical saves?

Sometimes. I kinda wanna get the Elswoods a dog when their kids get older and I almost had the Emorys take in a stray. It depends on how many sims I’m trying to juggle.

7. What’s your biggest immersion breaking pet peeve with the game?

Oh boy, where do I start: Random townies showing up at my door (or breaking into my house) in their randomly generated outfits, random phone calls, AUTONOMOUS PHONES! (I really need to download the mod that stops them) Also beyond historical gameplay, when sims that are supposed to live far away show up.

8. What’s your favorite in-game historical item? (CAS or BB)

Vampires, cats and dogs, and get together have a lot of nice furniture that fits with the period. And all the woodworking stuff you can make and the cross stitch from Cottage Living. Also that one base game oil lamp I put everywhere.

For cas, I mainly use cc, but the men’s cottage living bathrobe, that one victorian dress from Get Famous, and the cottage living lace up shoes and vampires boots.

9. What would you like to see as a new pack or asset to the game?

I’d like to see more afterschool activities for kids and teens. Maybe chorus, dance classes, art club, ect... In general, it’d be nice to have more activities for kids since they only have scouts or drama club and like 10 variations of the crafts table. People always say they want a band pack and while I don’t really care for an entire pack new instruments like a flute, drum set, maybe even a harp (With variations for adults and kids)

10. What pack do you think is invaluable as a historical simmer?

Cottage living. Pretty world, not much modern stuff to get distracted by. Areas of Windenburg and Britechester are nice to.

11. Do you have a favorite mod to enhance historical gameplay?

Not exclusively historical but MCCC, PandaSama’s realistic childbirth, and woohoo wellness and pregnancy overhaul

12. What’s your ideal family size for playing?

5 is ideal. Not too many sims to the point that it’s overwhelming trying to make sure no one dies or sets the house on fire, but also enough so it doesn’t get boring and you can switch between them.

13. Do you use poses?

Always.

14. Do you use overrides?

No.

15. Do you, or did you, play off-the-grid during your gameplay?

No. I tried, but I found that it got too annoying and some of the stuff I felt should work off the grid didn’t, so I took it off.

16. What life span do you play on?

Normal.

17. What inspired you to start playing historically?

It was seeing other people’s historical gameplay and lookbooks and downloading a bunch of victorian era cc and wanting to use it somehow, as well as suddenly wanting to play with Cottage Living and start a family farm!

20 Questions, in This Economy?

Thanks to @hd-literature for the invitation to also do this (for the record though that wasn’t my intention by reblogging yours, I was just enjoying learning a bit about your life). That said, I do like answering questions, so I’m going to.

Here are my answers to the 15 questions:

Are you named after anyone? My pen name is and it’s my favorite story ever so I’m going to share it with all of you. So there’s this book called “A Rainbow Thread” that’s about documented queer Jewish history going back to the 1st century CE. And one of the people discussed in it was named Moshko Kohen and lived in Arta, Greece in 1561. Moshko liked to have gay sex. I mean, he really liked to have gay sex. And the only reason we know about this is because his escapades were used to discredit his character as a witness in an unrelated court case. There’s no indication the sex itself got him in trouble, but it is talked about in some detail by multiple witnesses, including being seen with “a certain bachelor and being sexually penetrated by him” in an orchard, being seen at a familiar landmark where “a certain Turk was penetrating him with his consent,” and sleeping with some dude during his own dinner party before the other guests even left. Moshko himself never showed up to testify but a bunch of other local guys did. So my partner and I started saying “dammit, Moshko!” as a joke for “there they go being weird and gay again” and “a certain ___” as a joke in all random situations. So when I asked them what pen name I should use, they made a joke about somehow being a certain Moshko. I changed the spelling slightly so it’s pronounced Mosh-keh” instead, and Palmoni is Hebrew for “a certain one.” So there you go, an inside joke that kind of became reality. And an excuse to have a real Jewish pen name.

When was the last time you cried? All right, switching gears here! I’m actually pretty emotional. I get teary about shows and have fairly regular (though shorter than previously!) meltdowns. I’m going to be embarrassingly honest here—the last time I full on cried was 8 days ago, after a long and difficult day, when I discovered a dead bee that blew in the bathroom window and had to carry it outside to throw away. I have a phobia of bugs in general, especially stinging ones, but my partner is allergic so it had to be me. And yes I felt ridiculous as soon as I’d calmed down, but it was a hard week between moving, unpacking, painting, and getting used to a new neighborhood.

Do you have kids? Nope.

Do you use sarcasm a lot? Absolutely, though not as much as I used to. I’m more into puns these days.

What’s the first thing you notice about people? Generally their hair. I’m face blind (though certainly better at telling apart facial shapes and small details than when I was a kid), so the easiest way to recognize people is by their hair style or color.

What’s your eye color? Hazel like my mom.

Scary movie or happy endings? I really do like creepy stories but I can’t really handle truly scary stuff, and also I just like things to end happily. Tragic stories where the characters actually get to live a full life after are the best, but good stories that end too sadly can ruin it for me. I figure there’s too much of miserable endings in real life already, I need some hope in my fiction.

Any special talents? I used to be really good at archery. I plan to do it again once I can afford a really nice bow.

Where were you born? I’ll answer this kind of specifically since I don’t live there anymore—in the high desert of Central Oregon. I spent most of my life being surprised at how green things can be in places with actual rain.

What are your hobbies? Other than writing: knitting, playing select video games (90% Sims 4, but I also like FFXIV), and collecting historical journals and letters.

Do you have any pets? I have a lovely cat named after a household appliance. She’s the softest animal I have ever touched, like petting a cashmere sweater. She’s also weird though, obsessed with grooming people even when she’s not stressed out.

What sports do you play/have you played? I already used archery but I’m using it again because it’s the only sport I was ever any good at. I also played soccer though and liked it even if I was bad. I tried softball and cross country skiing, but hated them both.

How tall are you? Technically I’m exactly average, but wherever I go it seems like I’m the shortest adult there even in my work shoes, which make me an inch taller.

Favorite subject in school? Always English, I loved to write and get feedback on it and was extremely salty that I never had a reasonable excuse to take a creative writing class after I was like 15.

Dream job? Technically author, since it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. But I also never assumed it would pay me enough to live on so dream day job would be historian, getting to comb through old documents and piece together forgotten lives. That took too much school though, and I figured there wasn’t enough demand, so I ended up with my backup dream day job.

The Jack Of All Trades Legacy Challenge

Hey! I wrote a new legacy challenge called the “Jack Of All Trades” legacy challenge. This challenge is a legacy challenge but each generation is a different sims challenge. These challenges I picked from a handful of amazing creators and I will try to link all of the original creators for each challenge. Each generation won’t be true to the original challenges but they will be a template of the challenge with my own things added to them.

Basic Rules:(please remember that this is for fun and if these rules make it not fun then please ignore them and don’t stress!)

No money cheats allowed unless specified

The heir’s/spouses may be of any gender

All careers and aspirations must be completed unless stated otherwise

No adopted children may become heir

may live anywhere unless stated otherwise

any friends or spouses may be either random, made by you, or downloaded from the gallery

Generation 1- Runaway Teen Pregnancy

Your the star cheerleader at your high school, everyone loves you, all the men want to date you, all the girls want to be you. Your life is absolutely perfect, your parents are successful doctors, your sibling is a freshman in collage, and you of course the most important one, are dating the head of the football team Mr. Mc Dreamy, the boy that every girl wants. Everything was perfect until it wasn’t. After a collage party and a casual hookup with the school loner you wake up and take a pregnancy test and it comes out positive...uh oh...what now, you ask yourself what will happen when the whole school and your family find out you not only cheated but now your pregnant? Seems like there is only one option...

Rules:

Start out in Copperdale with your parents and sibling who is in collage

Go to a party and hookup with the “school loner”

drop out of high school (you will need a mod but if you can’t get one then just stop going)

Silence your phone and never talk to anyone other than your sibling and best friend (talking to strangers that are not teens is fine)

max the painting/photography/cooking skills

Must have a house worth 30000 simoleons

Must have a gallery wall of family photos

May not move anyone in until your kid is a child

complete postcard collection

Never have any other kids as you never wanted them in the first place

Once your baby is a child choose one of the three following options OPTION 1- lie to your ex about being the father and start dating them again then return to school OPTION 2- tell the loner he is the father and continue to be single and find new love as a young adult OPTION 3- tell the loner he is the father and start dating them

Generation 2- Island Challenge

Your mother had you at a very young age and it definitely shows now that you are a young adult. You have never been the best at decision making but one thing you know for sure is that the island life is definitely for you. You and your partner move to sulani on a deserted island to start you life together but you underestimated the challenge that this will bring.

The only issue you had growing up is that you hated when your family spent money, you grew up watching extreme cheapskates and something about their lifestyle spoke to you. After becoming a young adult you left the lavish life you used to know to go live with nothing only dumpster diving to get by.

Traits: Freegan/ Maker/ Slob Aspiration: Master Maker Career: Freelance crafter

Rules:

Move to evergreen harbor on an empty lot with zero simoleons

Start off only dumpster diving for money until you have a room with furniture (a bed,toilet,fridge,sink)

Generation 5- Furs And Fangs

You grew up in a shipping container home with clothes that your own parent made and nothing more because of your mothers hate for spending money on things that she deemed unnecessary, that includes anything for entertainment. When you and your twin were children and went to school for the first time you found a book in the library, there was something special about this book that intrigued you and that was the vicious looking werewolf fighting the dark and mysterious vampire right on the cover. When you brought the book home your mother ridiculed you for bringing it home and told you werewolves and vampires are not cool like the book made them look, she told you to never read stuff like that but in your mind you had already decided your path.

Rules:

Move to Moon Wood Mill after becoming a vampire

Meet at least 5 werewolves and fall in love with one

Generation 6- Black Widow Challenge

Your parents always made sure you knew that they loved you and you made sure that they knew you loved them, but the older you got the more you wanted the love from someone else but after your first relationship failed as a teen you decided that commitment wasn’t for you but hookups definitely were.

Traits: Romantic/ Non-Committal/ Snob Aspiration: Serial Romantic Career: None

Rules:

Move to a small lot after becoming young adult

turn risky whoohoo on 50%

Must marry at least 5 rich men and kill all of them after you have woohooed with them at least 3 times each(if you get pregnant before you reach all 3 woohoo’s then just have the baby and move on to the next husband)

You must kill your previous husband before you can move to the next one(if they have kids then choose if you want them or just give them up)

You must get caught cheating before you kill your husbands

Generation 7- “100″ Baby Challenge

You were neglected by your mother your whole childhood and never knew your father as he died from “mysterious” causes before you were born. Growing up you wish your mother showed you love but the closest you ever got was the love that the nanny was being paid to give you. When you and your high school sweetheart found out you were pregnant right after you both graduated collage you knew that you wanted as many children as your body would let you.

Get married to your high school sweetheart right after high school

both you and your spouse must attend collage

get a degree in culinary arts(you choose your partners)

By the time you became a teen you were fed up with constantly sharing so you went to your parents and told them your dreams and they...complied? Your mother told you that you should always follow your dreams and your father said he was proud of you for thinking about the future. Your parents knew you always wanted to live in the country side so they bought you a plot of land and gave you a large sum of money to get your farm running.

Receive a large amount of money (30,000 simoleons) from your parents as a teen and move to Henford on Bagley (at least 50x40 lot)

Generation 10- Wolf Pack Challenge

Your life was pretty loud considering your mother would come in at 9 pm from work and your neighbors seemed to never go to sleep, not to mention the loud buzzing of the people outside. You just wished for some peace and quiet, so you moved to a secluded location in Brindleton bay to hopefully get closer to running your dream vet clinic.

Traits: Dog lover/Loner/Gloomy Aspiration: Friend of the animals Career: Vet owner

Rules:

Move to one of the back lots in Brindleton Bay

Adopt 3 dogs and one adult racoon(you may go into cas for this just deduct the correct amount of simoleons)

Get a loan from the bank of 20000 simoleons and buy an empty lot and start building your vet clinic

make money from your vet clinic and from gifts your dogs bring

your challenge ends when your racoon dies

you may have any amount of children and having a spouse is up to you

Last Birthdays

It's that time. Time for our families last birthdays. Graham may only be turning into a young adult but with his vampiric blood that's as far as it goes for him.

As you can see Graham received all the extra benefits from great parents. Though he just managed to eek out conflict resolution.

The random trait generator decided our self-assured, loner vampire should be a vegetarian of all things! I guess that plasma fruit was really good. The random trait generator loves to test my skill.s

Since Graham is our heir I thought the alluring visage would be handy to get this family on their way to generation 3. I think it's working.

What other way to end a party than with a friendly sparring match?

Graham won of course, working to be a master vampire is a lot of work.

Nanny still taking care of her charge. I decided not to do much with Graham after his birthday and I think he approved of the choice.

As for a career, Graham is working in journalism. He wrote in his journal a lot when he was younger so he had the skills to advance here quickly.

Not long after meeting this pretty lady (Melissa Deddens) he wanted to make her his girlfriend. Leave it to Graham to pick a sim I cannot find in my mess of favorites on the gallery.

And, well...

Well Graham had had his final birthday it's time to wake up to a new day.

Because it is now Glenns turn to celebrate his final birthday.

Old age did nothing to dampen his handsome smile...

or his desire to 'test out the new hot tub'.

It was only a couple days later and after a fun trip to the Spice Festival that it was Rosas turn to celebrate her own final birthday.

Now before you ask why Rosa and Glenn didn't have more children I'll tell you. I wait for my sims to roll the try for baby want, which, these two never did, even for Graham, I had to force them if I wanted my legacy to continue. After he was born however Glenn decided he liked being a parent and almost immediately rolled the want to try for another. Rosa, however, did not. Well, that's not entirely true. She did roll it after their family trip to Granite Falls but by then she was too old. (I don't let pregnancies occur when they are under the 20 days to elder mark.) So there you have it. It's Rosas fault and since she is the founder it was her choice.

From here things move rather quickly. *** Melissa called Graham for a date at the café and the moment they arrived Graham rolled the marriage want. (Not sure Melissa was expecting this when she invited him out.)

Graham just had to wait a few days before he finally got a day off for him to hold a wedding ceremony with his beloved. Sadly Melissa decided to hop in the pool before they made it to the wedding arch so things are looking kinda odd.

But, the important thing is that they are now married and the family is well on their way to bringing in Generation 3. Part 08 Gen 02 Read the full article

My first impression of them:

i think i have always liked him.. it's hard for me to say exactly because of the hashtag memory issues but i wouldn't be surprised if he was my fav back when i was 8 and reading for the first time .

When I think I truly started to like them:

well i reread the series when i was 13 and that's when i really developed my special interest in it . and i started liking spader a lot on that reread of the never war :) i think he's just so good in that book

hmm fathoms below from the little mermaid always makes me think of that old au i had (which i still love even though i will probably never write it). spader was prince eric so i guess all the songs w eric remind me of spader. but i like this one "the salt on your skin, and the wind in your hair, and the waves as they ebb and they flow..."

Because I have too much time on my hands, I decided to do a further deep dive to be fully accurate with this and here is what I've got

As you can see, a lot of these were actually simultaneous, and that's mainly because I was a multi account on instagram after I left Clare Siobhan's fandom, I was still in the sims community but that's hard to identify because it was mostly editing my friend's sims or my own sims, which isn't really a fandom that was just us.

The interesting thing is my twitter experience, it's hard to properly identify because I deactivated when I left, but recently as I was cleaning out my google drive I found a bunch of edits I made for that account that I completely forgot, so I kind of have to include that era now (I said in previous tags I wasn't sure if I can count it, because I thought I didn't make anything fandom based, but I did!). It's quite interesting being able to see the worst time in my life documented into a fandom chronology 😭 My whole twitter era I was fucking losing it, that was my rock bottom, but I don't want to shit all over it! I think, purely from an entertainment standpoint I was really happy with it, I didn't have a fandom experience because I was terrified and mentally ill but I really enjoyed that content at the time and I think that's worth appreciating :)

The ones without a season attached I simply do not know, I could go looking for my old tiktok it is still up somewhere but I can't be bothered, all I know is that I used to make fandom POVs during lockdown and they were pretty popular somehow, I think shitty storytelling was everyone's shit back then we just loved random ass plotlines and hey I still don't mind the OCs I made back then (I still love that I refused to do y/n and always made OCs that people liked anyway that was a power move love that for me).

I specified January because at least to me, winter implies the end of the year in this context, so it just made more sense that I go with Jan. Funny story, I have no idea when I started watching Soy Luna, I joined the fandom as stated but since I was watching it while debating deactivating my twitter account I didn't really have any fandom experience at all throughout watching S1 which is interesting! For a show with such long seasons I don't know how I did that 😭

The main one I didn't include is Life is Strange, because that's a weird one for me! I have loved LiS since I watched Clare Siobhan's playthrough (I think that was the first playthrough I watched), but I never joined the fandom, and I'm not fully active in the fandom now it's just one of my various interests that I participate in here. The first post I made about it was about the comics in Jan 2023, so when I came back to tumblr in general, and it has sort of ran alongside the rest of my interests since, but it's hard to determine exactly where I joined, especially since I don't read LiS fanfic (personal preference) but I'm currently writing an LiS inspired AU, like how do I define that? Idk, I guess LiS is just a constant 🤷‍♀️😊

While I'm ranting, I'll talk dnp too. I think the main thing is post big and coty I only watched them like any other youtuber I casually watch, if there was an ap video in my subscription box I watched it but I didn't have anything to say about it or comment on it. I made one edit on my sanders sides account in 2019 but that's barely enough to count that as a fandom time, I don't remember ever engaging with the fandom at all until the hiatus ended, even when wad was happening I was just casually witnessing from afar lmao

I think that's everything? It's cool to look back on all this, especially since my memory is shit lmao it's worth going through my history and seeing everything I loved, participated in, enjoyed from afar and so on, and I have truly floated around a lot in quite a short amount of time!

For fun I decided to look over all of my internet history that is still available to me to try and create the most accurate timeline of my fandoms over the years and I think this is it! I also included the platforms I was primarily using for each since that's relevant to the fandom activity I was participating in :)

There are more fandoms I have dabbled in and I might be forgetting some but these are the main eras of my fandom experiences I think.

PARK JONGSEONG

All of your shelves, cabinets, containers are full of gifts he had been giving you since you started dating. Your vases are also never empty, always having at least one red rose in it, reminding you of him.

He could be going down to the grocery store and he'll bring you the most random thing, saying "It reminded me of you, so i thought i should buy it.". But most of the time it's not just some dumb (but lovely) thing, it can be pretty expensive too, like a perfume you smelt at a drogstore, but put back after seeing the price. That's how you know he really does pay attention to you.

SIM JAEYUN

Waking up to kisses, sleeping after kisses, he kisses. He does kiss a l o t. Every time he sees you, he pulls in for a kiss. You talk, he focuses on your lips, then lean in.

It's every lovers thing to kiss their partner, but babes just doin' too much (😭). All you can do is smile each time, making him giggle right after also making you let out a chuckle so you both end up laughing until Jake keeps on kissing you. He can be sad, Jake kisses, he's happy, he kisses, Jake any mood, he kisses.

PARK SUNGHOON

You've noticed how he have been caressing your hand. Not just when holding your hand, but sitting beside you on the couch, and you suddenly feel your fingers moving around. You look to your hand and see Sunghoon playing with your fingers. He's not looking, he's starring at his phone, but still does his thing.

He have been doing this for quiet a time now, but you definetely don't dare to question him about it, because you worry he'll take it the wrong way and stop it. Still, it's the sweetest thing ever.

KIM SUNOO

You guys often order take-out or go to fast food restaurant, because neither of you can cook. Even if you go out of the house, you bring it back home and eat it at the dining table. When you start eating your own food, all you see is Sunoos spoon right in front of your face. It became a habit of his to feed you. He's eating, and suddenly grabs a spoonful of his and just feeds you.

Sharings snacks, fully knowing you have your own hands, and you can in fact eat by yourself, he loves to stuff your mouth full with chips. "Sunoo, we are eating the same food." "I'm aware.." and he just continue to feed you.

YANG JUNGWON

You could be doing anything, and he just sneaks up behind you and asks you if you need any help. Now, this can vary from actual problems to "Want me to brush your hair for you?". He definetely helps you with cooking, like chopping the onions up for you, and still smiles even after he cried his eyes out for you. It's just his leader instincts.

He feels so bad if he can't help with what you're doing, like if you're stressed out by studying he really can't help, but still stays there so he can be your shoulder if you want to cry.

NISHIMURA RIKI

Tries his best to always be with you. Not exactly for you ㅡ even tho you're absolutely not bothered (now why would you be?) by it ㅡ, but because he wants to be there with you. Literally can't let you do anything on your own, he will be next to all the time. You go out to buy groceries, and he is in fact there. You want to hang out with your friends, he doesn't even think before asking you if he can join. But if he's there with you, he doesn't waste time to spend money on you.

He likes to spend time with you, gives you lots of quality time. It is for sure he likes to keep himself close to you.

Mod - Library Improvements

Alright, so this one is a combination of several small mods that can be used together or separately to make libraries a little more functional. Here’s what’s in it:

Quieter Patrons - Makes librarian and other library visitors stop socializing so much. Also prevents librarian from hogging the computers.

Note: if you have Get Famous, fans and celebrities will not be affected by this. There are several mods to prevent celebrities and their entourages from showing up randomly in places; I suggest using one of those.

Better Librarians - Gives librarians the “Mentor” trait, and 10 in Logic, Writing, and Research/Debate skills. Comes in 4 flavors (BG or DU, and 2 different options for NPC randomization/repurposing).

Add Books to Library Bookcase - Enables a debug/cheat option on all bookcases on library lots that allows you to stock the library with borrowable books. [Requires XML Injector]

No Default Books on Library Shelf - The special semi-stocked library bookcases in the Willow Creek Archive will start out empty; you can use the above mod to fill them. Will not clear starting books from existing saves, but will work for new ones and new libraries.

Better “Read...” Menu - Since now there are so many books available at the libraries, it can be difficult to sort through them in the “Open” menu. So, I added a dropdown filter with various genre categories.

Rename “Open” to “Borrow Library Books” - For library bookshelves only. Your home library will remain normal.

Okay, so now that we’ve got the general overview out of the way we can go a little deeper into the experience. The bread and butter of the mod pack is the ability to read or “borrow” a huge selection of skill books, emotional books, and genre books from any library via the Add Books to Library Bookcase mod.

So that the interaction doesn’t clutter the interface (and since you’ll only need to use it once per library), I made it a debug cheat. You’ll have to open the cheat console with “ctrl + shift + c” and enter “testingcheats on”. Then, when you “shift + click” on any book case, you’ll get the option to “Stock Library.” It might lag for a second as all of the books are loaded.

From here, you can use the “Read...” interaction on the bookcase to select a title to read inside of the library. This is where the Better “Read...” Menu comes in. Again, there are a ton of books to sift through, so that mod aims to make it easier to do so:

This also applies to interactions on your home bookcases, so if your sims are bookworms and have a large collection at their residence, it’ll help them too. And it covers the interactions for both adults and children. (Note: selection is slightly more limited for children, but is not limited only to children’s books; precocious little ones can benefit from skill books and emotional books, too.)

Ok, so back to the brand new library books we just added. The books that are added from my debug interaction are unique from the default library books in a few ways. For one, these books are fully borrowable.

You can use the “Open” menu to see the full inventory of books inside of the library, and from there, drop them into your sim’s inventory. This is why I added a file that renames the “Open” interaction on bookshelves to say “Borrow Library Book” instead. It’s just for flavor, but it’s nice.

Bella has some work to do around the house, so she’s picking up a handiness skill book, and a children’s book for Alexander.

But obviously, you can’t sell these from your inventory... the local library would be quite inconvenienced. (Note: You can still sell them from build/buy mode... but you wouldn’t do that, would you?)

If you don’t use my No Default Books on Library Shelves mod, some of the default library books will get mixed in with these and be stuck in the bookcase. So I recommend using that for the library in Willow Creek, and then using Brazen Lotus’ empty bookcases for any other bookcases used in libraries in other worlds.

Anyway, now that you’ve “checked out” a couple of books, you can bring them home and enjoy them for however long you want before taking them back to the library. SimNation has a nationwide policy of no late fees, ever! So, really, keep them as long as you need. Alexander and Bella are off to the races.

When they’re done, Bella heads back to the library. You can drop the book on the front desk and the librarian will put it away. Or, you can just use the inventory interaction on the bookcase and plop it back in where you found it.

While Bella’s at the library, she’s hoping to get some work done, since it’s such a quiet and conducive work/study environment (thanks to my Quieter Patrons mod). She’s been struggling while writing her intelligence reports for work, so decides to Practice Writing before going home. She asks the librarian to mentor her in writing, and he gives her some great tips!

If Cassandra were here, the librarian could also mentor her in logic while she practices her chess moves. Or if Alexander were here, he could get some help with his homework, too. And that’s it! A pretty simple set of mods that together make for a more realistic and functional library experience. And if this isn’t your cup of tea, check out the Better Libraries mod by Plzsaysike or the Borrow Books from Library mod by Ilkavelle. Those are two mods that inspired me heavily while working on this, but each had their own small things I wanted to try to address differently.

Compatibility Notes

The Add Books to Library Bookcase should not conflict with anything, and will add the debug interaction to all bookcases (even CC).

No Default Books on Library Shelf will conflict with mods that adjust the object tuning for the library bookshelf ONLY. Note: this is not the one that shows up in build/buy by default.

Quieter Patrons will conflict with anything that adjusts the role states for library visitors.

Better Read Menu will conflict with mods that change the bookshelf_read_picker and bookshelf_read_picker_child files.

Better Librarians will conflict with mods that adjust the sim filter for librarians, but in some cases this can be resolved by placing this mod in overrides folder (see below).

Rename “Open” to “Borrow Library Books” will conflict with anything that changes the open_inventory_ui file.

Requirements

Quieter Patrons, No Default Books on Library Shelf, Better “Read” Menu, and Rename “Open” to “Borrow Library Books” should all be base game compatible. Add Books to Library Bookcase should also be base game compatible, but it requires the XML Injector. Download that here. And finally, Better Librarians comes in several different flavors with different requirements and compatibility notes:

BG_EAStandard - Base Game Compatible; will spawn new townies

BG_ZeroNoRandoms - Base Game Compatible; will repurpose existing townies into librarians

DU_EAStandard - Requires Discover University; will spawn new townies

DU_ZeroNoRandoms - Requires Discover University; will repurpose existing townies into librarians

Note that if you’re getting the Zero versions of these and want to use them alongside Zero’s No-Randoms mod, you’ll need to create an overrides folder and drop my file in it. It includes Zero’s changes to librarian spawning; hence the filename.
