Cooking Hc.
castlevania headcanons, starring: Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, Adrian “Alucard” Tepes.
⠁trevor:
it’s as bad as his odor, i mean come on. He’s obviously been living off bread and dried out jerky, so no telling if he knows how well dried out his jerky is..nor does he know what seasoning is.
He wouldn’t even want to cook in the first place, he’ll leave it up to whoever else in the house or the last option, sypha? or alucard? whomever it may concern, he’s not cooking.
let’s say he was coerced into doing the cooking! everyone is sitting in his face at the dinner table quiet, some talking complimenting his “culinary skills”. But you have alucard here being as blunt as ever when he tastes the unseasoned meat. Well at least it’s not dry?
Trevor already knew his cooking was bad before alucards input. But oh well, that just shows he can’t cook and literally didn’t even try.
⠁sypha:
even tho it’s not as bad as trevor, she still try’s and sometimes succeeds! usually goes to alucard to see how long to cook it or what seasonings to use.
she likes to cook because she’s learning new recipes, she doesn’t mine constructive criticism but not from trevor cause she thinks he is the last to be calling her food nasty.
but i would say she enjoys baking, like her cultural pastries. She was never really huge on cooking complex meals or cooking in general but she didn’t mind and never complained helping find herbs and vegetables for dinner or lunch.
she wouldn’t bake like cakes or stuff like that, maybe bread and cookies or small deserts but that’s all.
In my opinion, i see sypha as a breakfast type of person and trevor as a dinner type person while alucard is more of a lunch type of person. As sypha and trevor travel a lot, they really don’t have much time to cook whole meals just something quick for the road.
she’ll help cook tho!
⠁alucard:
can cook very well! obviously.
picked it up from both his mom and dad, mostly his dad tho. Since his mom was out being a nurse here and there., dracula taught him how to cook basic meals and eventually fancy meals.
he doesn’t go all out on cooking unless it’s for a special event (parties, birthday party, dates) stuff like that. Actually doesn’t mind cooking at all, he can make just as much dishes as he likes.
Gives constructive criticism back on both sypha and trevor. Especially trevor! he tries not to be so harsh on sypha about her cooking cause he knows that she’s actually trying and knows what she’s doing a little bit, but for trevor? he can tell that this man doesn’t even care how black his porkchop is on one side. That’s why trevor is constantly henpecking him about paying attention to the pan before he burns down the kitchen and kills every one in it.
would fight a frenchman about which bread is better.

Heyo, CJ! I'm really sorry, but since you did say I could ask…
CW: Mentions of digestion
Considering it's highly illegal to digest a human, is there a system in case anyone does attempt to do so? How does it work? What is the punishment?
You mentioned that bones and organ meat are an essential part of their diet, do they consume it from animals now? How is their food prepared?
Can you explain a bit more how the third "lung" works? Is there any positive change on the mini-giant upon consuming a human friend, do they only feel satisfied/full (or satiated in case of cravings), can it be used in a therapeutic way for both parties? Does it act or interfere in the release of neurotransmitters?
And mhm, I'm aware of the comfort and curiosity with James and Ben, but I meant in a more generalized or biological way, because since they don't consume humans as food anymore (but still crave them), would their bodies adapt?
JUST ONE MORE THING, I'M SORRY-
How long did it take for them to stop having humans as food? What started it and how did society took it?
Oh boy this took me so long to answer lol but I hope I got all your questions!! Also never be sorry for these long asks because oh my goodness I love them lmao
CW: Mentions of digestion below the cut
Considering it's highly illegal to digest a human, is there a system in case anyone does attempt to do so? How does it work? What is the punishment?
There is, but I’m still working on fleshing all that out since this whole thing started as a silly little highschool vore sitcom hahah. Basically though it would be very difficult for someone to eat and digest a human without anyone noticing. For starters, it takes about a week or two to digest a full human, and during that time it’s going to be pretty obvious what they’ve done. Especially those first four or five days. See, mini giants don’t tend to eat large meals like that at all anymore, so if someone has a suspiciously human sized gut that’s definitely softer than it should be well...that’s not good news. There’s also just general police investigation type stuff and it will be noticed if someone just, goes missing. Missing persons reports and stuff you know? Combine that with the fact that the guilty party will have to hide away for a while and bingo, not too hard to find. It’s also worth mentioning that articles of clothing, especially shoes, wreak havoc on the digestive system, so those would need to be spit up, which would definitely be some evidence as well.
The punishment is basically a first degree murder trial and the repercussions that come with it since, well that’s what eating someone for real is.
You mentioned that bones and organ meat are an essential part of their diet, do they consume it from animals now? How is their food prepared?
So food typically consists of things like whole roast chickens, large cuts of beef, pork, and venison, whole fish, and other things like that, which often means bones don’t even need to be added separately. Like, you know how we eat chicken and other cuts of pork and beef off the bone? They’d just eat the bone with the meat. Bones can also be bought separately, usually from larger prey items like beef, elk, bison, and other such animals, and are a fairly common snack food. Antlers are also popular, especially among young giants who’s fangs are still coming in, since they’re cheaper than some bones.
Meals will be prepared pretty similar to the ways we’re used to. Roasted meat, soups, sandwiches, and fried meat, are all common dishes. The only difference is bone won’t generally be removed from a piece of meat and may even be added to certain dishes as both a garnish and part of the meal. Similar things go for organs. Organ meat is a staple for 90% of the kinds of soups you’ll find, and things like liver are very popular because of how big the organ is. Especially sliced on things like sandwiches. Think of it being just another common lunch meat. Heart and kidneys are also fairly popular snack foods and you can genuinely just buy like, a bag of them in the grocery store seasoned all sorts of different ways.
Also, prepared meat will tend to be on the raw side of things, so always make sure you specify how you need things cooked if you’re human
The third ‘lung’ is a pretty wonky system tbh so forgive me this is gonna get a little wack. Basically it’s like this...separate little organ that acts as a sort of bellows to pump some fresh air from the lungs into the stomach, and pump out deoxygenated air back out. It doesn’t take much more effort than maybe breathing a little deeper. The operation of the third lung is mostly involuntary actually! It automatically kicks in whenever there’s movement in a giant’s stomach, and the operation of the lung signals acid production to stop as well. If they wanted to digest something still alive they’d need to make the conscious decision to do so in order for the third lung to shut down and acid production to begin.
Ingestion of a human helps mini giants produce certain neurochemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and melatonin, that greatly improve their overall mood and cognitive function. So like, basically if you super need to study for a last minute test it’s not a bad idea to eat your human friend before hand lmao. As for the human side of things, even though acid production is shut off for the time a human is ingested, there are still some very mild enzymes chilling in the giant’s stomach that will essentially remove most of the humans’s already dead skin and hair cells, so it’s like an extra exfoliating bath.
Even though the effects are positive many humans and even giants have very mixed opinions about the issue.
How long did it take for them to stop having humans as food? What started it and how did society took it?
Oh gosh okay here comes the history nerd brain lol
So eating humans purely for food was already falling out of practice since maybe....the 1500s? It still happened a lot of course, but it was more a means of executing prisoners of war than anything. Although depending on the rank of said prisoners of war it wouldn’t be too uncommon for the king or other high members of the aristocracy to eat them as a show of power. Nobels could also decide what to do with any human found on their lands, and most decreed that said humans were to be brought to them, since I think they may have been considered a delicacy of sorts.
Peace treaties and even alliances were eventually drawn between most human and giant kingdoms, and while that didn’t solve every problem my any means, it certainly paved the way for eventual proper integration.
Around the time of the Enlightenment both human and giant philosophers were proposing ideas on the equality of their species (or at least equality in intelligence) and both began looking at each other less as beasts and prey items, and more as fellow sapient beings.
Fast forward to the 1800s and things are a lot more integrated. Most mini giants live in smaller towns on the outskirts of large cities just because they’re not generally fans of cramped cities, but for the few who do live in cities they are more than able to get jobs and even attend universities if they so choose. People are still very wary of them and things aren’t perfect, but it’s better than it used to be.
Much later in around the 20s eating people was pretty much outlawed very enforced too, but that didn’t stop things from getting kinda bad during the prohibition because it was the prohibition lol. Eating someone was also a pretty popular way among mobs to dispose of witnesses or generally just have a good time, and people rarely looked into those sorts of disappearances anyways.
Present day where we find Ben and James things are far from perfect, but they’re also the best they’ve ever been. There are quite a few human/giant cities with accommodations made for both species and the general fear of giants is at an all time low. Doesn’t mean some people aren’t still jerks, but you also won’t get arrested for eating someone so long as you have expressed consent and it’s clear they aren’t being harmed. It’s especially common for young giants and humans to play together this way actually, which means more and more humans and giants are growing up together used to the idea of being eaten by/eating their friends and thats lead to some all around great improvements.

The midday Ord Mantell sun is a welcome change from the damp swampiness of the planet you left just a few days ago. As you trail the squad back to Cid’s, Omega clings to your hand. She’s not spoken of the holoscan again, and she’s not left your side since that first mention. And for your part, you don’t want to be apart from her either. Her small palm is warm in yours as you guide her through the crowded marketplace.
None of you are in any rush to see Cid, so without even really talking about it, you’d all decided to take the scenic route through the market. Bustling with the lunch crowd, the market is a riot of sensations: the scents of spices and cooking meats; the sharp cries of merchants hawking their wares; the explosion of colors in every direction. Your focus is split between leading Omega through the throng, and keeping an eye on Hunter. He’s usually okay in busy places like this if he’s prepared, but you’ve watched him fight off enough headaches in the past several months to know the early warning signs. So far, so good.
Omega squeezes your hand. “Can we get Mantell Mix?”
Her eyes are big and pleading. You couldn’t say no to her even if you wanted. Tilting your head in the direction of the snack stall, she beams at you. The two of you diverge from the squad’s path to squeeze between other market goers, murmuring excuse me and sorry and behind you.
The Pantoran woman behind the cart must recognize Omega, because as you stop in front of her stall, she hands over the carton to Omega.
“Bill to Ciddarin Scaleback?” the woman asks in accented Basic.
The taste of bile rises in your throat. You’d had no idea that Omega and Wrecker have been putting themselves further in debt just to have a snack. Biting your tongue, you merely shake your head at the woman. “How much?”
Surprise flits across her face, her eyes darting between you and Omega, before stuttering out, “Um. Seven credits.”
You count out ten from your personal stash—dwindling though it is—and drop them on the cart. “The extra is for a free refill for my friend when she comes back next, understood?”
She gawks at you for a moment, then seems to shake out of it and scoops up the credits. “O-Of course. Anything for my regulars.”
You offer her a curt nod and, turning, smile at Omega’s widemouthed expression of wonder.
“Thank you, Nav,” she says in an awed voice.
“Anytime, kiddo,” you say with a shrug. “You deserve it.”
As she munches happily on the multicolor snack, you guide her back in the direction of the squad with one hand on her shoulder. Omega knows her way back to Cid’s from here without issue, you know, and you’re finally starting to learn the landmarks that will lead you in the right direction—the blue milk corner stand, the ripped green awning of the pawn shop, the constantly overflowing trash bin at the entrance to the alleyway. But you also know that the boys will worry if you suddenly disappear with their sister.
They’ve paused outside a scrap and parts dealer, piles of twisted and garbled metal heaped on the old cart. Echo gestures with a grumpy expression at a cylindrical piece, and the merchant glances at Tech, who uses his HUD visor to translate.
You and Omega sidle up next to Hunter, who offers a warm smile. “Was wondering where you two went off to.”
“We got Mantell Mix!” Omega chirps. “Wrecker, here, have some.”
Wrecker turns at his name and brightens at the sight of the snack. “Thanks, ’Mega!”
“Thank Nav,” Omega says. “They bought it with their own credits.”
Blinking, you kick yourself mentally for not telling her to keep that between you two. Hunter looks at you in sharp surprise. You just offer him a half-shrug. “We can talk about it later.”
Omega stands on her toes to peer over the parts dealer’s table, and you gently scoot her forward so she can see better. Withdrawing your hand from her shoulder, your arms cross over your chest, feeling the need to defend yourself against Hunter’s lingering gaze. Uncomfortable warmth blooms in your chest under his scrutiny.
“What?” you finally say, knowing he can hear you over the surrounding chatter.
“You should have just billed it to Cid.”
You scoff. “You guys are in enough debt without worrying about whether the kid’s happy. It is quite literally the least I could do.”
His face remains twisted into a frown for a moment before softening into the breath of a smile. “Thank you. For taking such good care of her.”
“You don’t have to thank me for that.” You rub at the back of your neck, biting the inside of your cheek. “I care about her. Not just gonna let her be unhappy.”
“I—”
Whatever Hunter intended to say gets cut off as Echo turns away, cradling the part in the crook of his cybernetic arm, saying, “Alright, let’s go.”
Hunter gives you one last pensive look before following his brothers back toward Cid’s. You feel rooted to the spot, gazing with a slight furrowed brow at his retreating back.
Omega bumps her shoulder against your waist. “Coming, Nav?”
“Yeah,” you say, “yeah, of course.”
You observe the way each of the boys’ shoulders tense the closer you get to Cid’s Parlor. Even Omega, with her snack now finished and carton discarded, seems more subdued, kicking at loose pebbles in the alleyway. And you can’t say you blame any of them, if the painful knot of anticipation twisting your insides is any indication. When the door slides open, you’re a little surprised to find the barroom completely devoid of activity; not even Bolo and Ketch are here, uncharacteristically.
“Cid?” Hunter calls into the empty room.
“In the back,” comes the muffled reply.
“Let’s just get this over with and get back off-world,” you mutter under your breath. Omega shifts her grip on your hand to lace her fingers through yours and squeezes; Hunter gives you a sidelong glance. But none of you speak any further as you shuffle into the back rooms to Cid’s office.
As usual, her desk is cluttered with junk that she probably calls ‘treasure.’ You recognize one of the more recent artifacts you did manage to scavenge, broken apart and its mechanical guts unraveled, and you curl your lip in displeasure. What good was recovering this kriffing stuff is she’s just going to destroy it?
“Boys, Tiny,” Cid greets as you all file into her office. She appraises each of them for a moment before her gaze settles on you. “Red.”
You merely blink in acknowledgement, settling into one of the two chairs across from her. Omega remains standing at your side.
As if she expected nothing less, she shrugs and steeples her fingers in front of her. “We need to talk, fellas.”
“What’s on your mind, Cid?” Echo asks.
“Business is not as booming as it has been,” she says. “Clientele base has been declining. And without a steady stream of incoming revenue, I’m gonna be forced to call in a number of debts.”
You squint at the veiled threat in her words. That knot of anticipation twists tighter into a coil of anger, your heart beating a little harder.
Hunter’s fingers brush against your shoulder as if to say, Relax. You take a steadying breath and nod once for his benefit.
“We’re doing the best we can,” Echo is saying. “But our efforts are only as good as the intel we’re given.”
“Don’t pin this on me, Killjoy,” Cid says, voice dripping with wounded pride. “I tell you what I know.”
“But not everything,” Tech points out without even glancing up from his datapad.
Cid scoffs, her green scales glinting dully in the yellow desk light. “Client confidentiality. You understand. No, the problem here is that you’re all a bunch of highly trained operatives, and nothing to show for it.”
You stand so fast your chair screeches across the stone floor and clatters as it topples over. Shrugging away Hunter’s warning hand on your back, you glare down at Cid, nostrils flaring as you do your best to breathe. Anger thrums through your veins, bile stinging your throat again at the sheer audacity of the Trandoshan.
She narrows her eyes at you. “Got something to say, Red?”
“Yeah,” you spit. “I am sick and kriffing tired of you playing the victim, Cid. Next time you want a job done, maybe do it yourself.”
Spinning on your heel, you push past Hunter and Tech to yank open the office door. You’re halfway out of the alleyway back to the main thoroughfare before the red rush of rage fades. You stumble to a halt, shoulders sagging. Leaning against the nearby duracrete wall, you close your eyes. Kriff. You probably just ruined the squad’s chances at continuing to work. Where else can six people hide from the Empire? The Outer Rim remains largely unaffected, but you figure it’s only a matter of time before those untouched regions come under the purview of the Empire.
The duracrete wall is rough and cool against your forehead as it drops forward against it. Kriff, kriff, kriff. You can only imagine what the boys are saying to run damage control back there.
“Spare credits?” croaks an unfamiliar voice.
Peeking your eyes open, you startle a little at the proximity of a disheveled Rodian man, filthy clothing ripped and torn, a bundle of blankets slung over one shoulder. His turquoise skin is gaunt against his cheeks.
“Sorry,” you say, “don’t have on me right now.”
“Hmph.”
The Rodian makes no move to shuffle away like you expect. Quite the opposite. You  shove away from the wall and backpedal as he rushes up to you. His grip on your wrist is stronger than you might’ve thought, a wiry strength not betrayed by his unkempt appearance.
“Get off me.” You yank against his grip to no avail. As you reach for your blaster, his other hand shoots out to grab that wrist as well. “Kark, get the fuck away from me!”
He pushes you back against the duracrete wall and peers with bulbous red eyes at your face. Nose wrinkling at the rank scent of unwashed body and clothes, you strain away as best you can. You aim a kick at his groin—but Rodian anatomy is different, and he does not double over in agony like you’re hoping. Panic truly begins to claw at your spine now, your nerve endings frazzled and singeing.
“You look familiar,” he mutters. “I seen you before?”
“No,” you grit out between clenched teeth. “Let. Me. Go.”
Ignoring your pleas, he tilts his head. “No, I’ve seen your face somewhere. I never forget a face, me.”
Your thoughts flash to your squad. If ever they were to be on time for once, this is it.
The Rodian tsks with a shake of his head. “Ah. I know. Your face, all over the wanted boards, that’s where I seen you.”
“What?” Your attention snaps to the man now, eyes widening before narrowing in suspicion, despite the ice that floods your veins. “What boards?”
“In the main square,” he says, then cackles like you’re sharing an inside joke. “Oh, my luck is finally up. You—”
“Get away from them,” cracks a sharp voice.
Both you and the stranger snap your heads to the side. Relief nearly punches a sob out of your lungs at the sight of your squad approaching with half-raised blasters, determined sets to their jaws. Echo locks eyes with you. At his nearly imperceptible eyebrow raise, you nod. I’m okay. Thank you for coming.
“We won’t ask again,” Hunter says. His blaster comes up to chest height now.
The Rodian gulps and releases your wrists at last. With a scowl, you reverse the situation and jerk him in an arc around you to slam his front against the wall. Twisting his arm up at a painful angle behind his back, you press against him. He whimpers.
“Nav, what are you—”
“Wait,” you snap at your squad, then pull on the Rodian’s arm, eliciting a yelp. “You, what were you about to say before my friends showed up?”
“I- I don’t know!” he cries. “I don’t remember.”
“I think you do,” you say. “You know my face. How?”
“Y-Your face,” he stammers, “in the square. Credits.”
The ice coursing through your body hardens. Oh. Oh no. Releasing the man, you stagger back and watch with unseeing eyes as he darts off. You feel your breath coming in harsh gasps now, and you can only imagine the floating holoscan of your face flickering in the Imperial wanted boards. Stupid. Stupid, stupid. This is how it ends, you realize. This squad is the best thing to happen to you in a long while, and you’re about to lose them. Your connection to the Empire—as tenuous as it is—is about to cost you every person you’ve ever held dear.
“Nav?” Hunter’s gentle hand on your shoulder matches the caring tone of his voice, but you flinch nonetheless.
“I- I’m sorry. He said he’d seen my face before,” you say, face numb.
“Yes, in the market square,” Tech says. “That is what he said.”
“He probably saw you give credits to that Pantoran woman,” Omega says. Her wide eyes are full of concern as she peers up at you. “There were a lot of people there.”
They don’t suspect.
Slick, sickening guilt clashes with the soaring sense of relief that floods through you. “Right. Yeah, yeah, that’s probably all he meant.”
Shaking off the anxious haze, you blink and offer a tight smile to your squad. “How, um, how did it go with Cid?”
They all share a look you really don’t like, one that is fidgety and ashamed. After a long moment, Tech speaks up: “Iridonia.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“It is not an optimal situation,” Tech says.
“If you’d rather sit this one out, Nav, we understand,” Echo says with a kind smile. Behind him, Wrecker nods enthusiastically.
You nearly feel the weight of Arien’s lifeless body in your arms once more. You haven’t been to Iridonia since you brought her back, despite keeping in semi-regular contact with her village, and you know this can’t be just coincidence.
But you owe it to her, to yourself, and to your squad to return. You say, “I’ll be fine. Let’s- Let’s just get going.”
When the Marauder winks out of realspace, entering the comforting wash of hyperspace, Omega approaches you in the cockpit. “What’s Iridonia?”
“The planet a friend of mine was from,” you say. “She died fighting the Empire.”
Emotions flicker across Omega’s face: sadness, understanding, melancholy. You know her thoughts are full of her missing brother, Crosshair, right now. With a tired smile, you ruffle her blonde curls.
Echo swivels the co-pilot seat around, his scowl deeper than usual. “You holdin’ up alright, Nav?”
“I’ll be fine,” you repeat. “It’s a big planet.”
“I would not be surprised if Cid gave us the direct coordinates to the village your Arien was from,” Tech says from the pilot’s seat.
The notion makes your stomach turn, and you have to stand. Pacing the back wall of the cockpit, anxiety gnaws at the edges of your stomach. “Only one way to know. What, exactly, is she sending us there for?”
“You’re not gonna like it,” Echo warns.
“I already don’t like this,” you say with a heavy sigh. “Just tell me. Please.”
Echo hesitates only one moment more. “She wants one of their grave goods. A— Tech, how did she describe it?”
“A ritual pod utilized in the Zabrak burial custom of ushering their souls back into the Force,” Tech says. “Often made with incredibly rare and valuable cactus sap that is said to produce the strongest hallucinogenic in the Mid Rim.”
You gape at the back of his seat. You’re only vaguely familiar with Iridonians’ burial customs, having left before Arien was laid to rest, but you know how proud her people are. The insult this will pose to them....
“No,” you say.
“No?” Tech asks. His voice is thick with confusion.
“We’re not doing this.”
“Unfortunately,” Hunter says as he steps into the cockpit, a grimace contorting his skull tattoo, “we don’t have a choice. It’s this or she sells us out.”
You choke on air. “What!?”
“Our hands are tied,” Hunter says. You sense the apology under his words, when you’re the one who should be apologizing. This whole situation is your fault. Everything with Arien comes back to it being your fault. The cockpit swirls as you hold back a sob, the sudden wave of emotion nearly enough to knock you off your feet. She’s dead because of you. It’s a thought you’ve shoved down for months now.
You swallow thickly. “I’m so sorry.”
Hunter’s broad hands are warm and comforting where he rests them on your biceps. “You said what the rest of us were thinking. Don’t be sorry.”
Tears well in your eyes. If you only knew. You open your mouth to tell him, tell them all, finally be rid of this suffocating guilt—but still you cannot make the words unstick themselves. Still there is a barrier.
Hunter pulls you into a warm embrace, cradling your head to his chest, and a sob wracks your body. Dimly, you’re aware of the other filing out of the cockpit to give the two of you some privacy, but your thoughts are raging, tempestuous and tumultuous and utterly crushing. You’re going to lose this squad—you’re going to lose Hunter—because of your own selfishness. You cling to him.
“Cyare,” he murmurs against your skin. “Talk to me.”
Hiccupping, you can only shake your head. “I don’t- I don’t know how.”
He holds you for what feels like an entire eon before the anxiety gripping your heart loosens at all. Swaying, he rubs one hand up and down your back to soothe you. And he only lets you go when the ship’s hyperdrive alert blip blip blips on the main console.
“Coming out of hyperspace,” he says in a low voice. Sliding the levers back, you watch the vortex of hyperspace shrink into starlines, and starlines condense down into stars. The familiar, dusty visage of Iridonia engulfs the viewport. It’s only then that you realize your hands are shaking.
When the ship’s landing gear touches down, you already recognize the landscape outside. The barren, twisting trees and prickly cacti that reach for the sky mirror the ones you see in your nightmares. Exhaling a shaky breath as the ramp lowers, you stumble onto the familiar sandy ground of Arien’s village.
Suqu, the elder, steps forward with arms spread wide. “Ah, (y/n), how good it is to see you. We feared the Empire might have gotten you when we did not hear from you last lunar cycle.”
You give a tight smile, arranging your expression into a mask of politeness, and bend into a shallow bow. “Suqu, my apologies. My new companions and I have been...busy.”

“…. that’s weird.”
meirin stared at the sigil of permission clutched in her hands, before looking up at the clear sky outside the window, as if it would yield the answer she was looking for.
is it because i have to be closer to liyue? no, she said she should be able to hear me from basically anywhere…
her hands straightened the talisman before closing her eyes. the smell of incense burning in the small censer wafted in the air, calming and sharpening one’s focus in their prayers.
“can you hear me? spring bringer, the doe of the geo archon’s eyes. the dream walker, the one who travels through dreams… my dear friend, this humble mortal requests for your aid.”
silence.
is she busy? no… even if she is, she would usually give me a sign—
CRASH!
the woman jolted, knees bumping hard against the table and sending the gold-lined censer toppling over. cursing under her breath, she straightened the item before limping a tad towards the direction of the kitchen, her knees throbbing from the impact caused by her reflexes.
“haitham, you okay??”
arriving at the scene, she saw the remnants of broken glass and coffee spilled all over the wooden floor. she stared in both worry and amusement at the way her lover glared at the cupholder in his hand, which clearly had failed its job in holding the now-shattered cup.
normally, she would be in a teasing mood, seeing the man so sulky without his coffee, but this time, dread settled at the bottom of her stomach.
what a bad omen, her mother would usually say in situation like these. by no means the young woman was a superstitious person — but this, coupled with how her friend wasn’t answering…
“babe.”
she received an irate grumble as the man stepped back from the mess to fetch the trash bin, “no, there’s no coffee left. i’ll have to brew you a new one.”
“that’s not it. let’s go to liyue.”
“….. provide a reasonable reason for me to write on my day off request.”
“you’re smarter than me. use your brain,” the woman tapped her index finger on her temple, grinning a little when he narrowed his eyes at her at the gesture she copied from him effortlessly, “anyway. liyue, tomorrow. get packing. we’re visiting my friend.”
i just hope she’s okay…
It must have made for an interesting sight, a handsome young man dressed in traditional Inazuman clothes, katana at his hip, walking side by side with a deer almost his size, with fur a soft brown, white and gold.
Together they trekked along Byakko plains, crossing streams and climbing small rocky hills, occasionally chatting but focusing on their goal of reaching Ritou. Foxes were common in the area and they stared at Crys with a mix of confusion and predatorial glee. It unnerved her a little, but mostly insulted her.
Crys had obviously not had a pleasant sleep but still felt well-rested enough from her previous time unconscious, if anything she was feeling rather restless and anxious, wracking her brain for answers to questions that seemed weirder and weirder still.
They rounded Konda village, not wanting to attract attention given Crys’… peculiar appearance, but set camp not too far away to eat something. Kazuha managing a quick trip to the village to exchange or buy some ingredients.
“They had some grain and um… vegetables? Not sure what you’d prefer.” He tells her rummaging a little bag, placing down a couple of small bowls as well.
She peeked at him. “What is that? Oh, more fried fish? Smells delicious, I love seafood!”
Kazuha blinked at her. He supposed it made sense, she’s no common deer...
They settle for lunch under a small low tree and thick shrubs, shielding them from the sun and from any traveler’s gaze. “So, you eat meat?” He asks. “Forgive me for assuming but I thought…”
“Don’t worry, I… actually do hehe. Though of course I wouldn’t touch venison.” She shivers.
“Venison?”
“Deer meat.”
“Ah.”
Her ears droop. “Mn, once when I was in Fontaine for some business dinner, we got served that since the staff hadn’t been announced beforehand. I was horrified and-”
She stops. Her new little teardrop pendant glows.
Kazuha stares at her. “Something wrong?”
“I remembered that… but then I… forgot.” She frowns. “His name… someone important was there with me. He…h-he’s…” Her voice breaks a little, the ever-present echo dimming down to a soft voice. The varunada lazurite dims just as well.
“It’s okay, take it easy, you remembered something at least. Little by little they’ll come to you, I’m sure.”
Crys shifts her eyes away, a little sad.
Kazuha does not like seeing her dejected demeanor.
He tidies things up a little and rests against the tree, pulling out a leaf, analyzing and folding it with precision before taking it to his lips.
And as he blows, a soft tune flows.
Tumblr media
Crys stares at him for a moment and relaxes. Her eyes close and she breathes slow and calm. Maybe he’s right. Let the answers come to you… relax and empty your mind.
Don’t worry.
Everything will be fine.
Your friends, your loved ones, those important to you…
...
.......

The █ne who t█avels th█ou█h dream█…
My de█r frie█d…
Can you hear me?
Spring Bringer.
Once again, she breaks out of her trance with a startle “Spring Bringer!” She exclaims.
“Oh?” Kazuha stares at her. “What is-”
“That’s my name! That’s one of my names! Kazuha you were right!” She skips happily, rearing on her back hooves as if jumping for joy. “That is my adeptus name, it was bestowed upon me millennia ago.”
“It’s a beautiful name, very fitting.” Kazuha smiles softly, genuinely glad and happy for her.
“I am Spring Bringer! And I will make my master proud!”
"Loyalty and resilience... those are your marks, my dear Spring Bringer. You make us all proud."
“I-I cleared my mind and… and a friend was calling for me.” She calms down, panting. “She’s worried… oh no they're all worried for me...”
“Well I’d say we’re one step closer… both figuratively and literally, we can reach Ritou in a few hours if you’re up to it.”
“Yes! Let’s go!”
How strange….
It’s like I feel my powers returning, my memories…
As if part of me was back in place, fitting like a puzzle piece.
But there are still more questions…
A story woven in the breeze The doe skips, her name sings As told by the tune of leaves

Meal Prepping 101
Tumblr media
Taking maximum credit loads, commuting, and working a part-time job can make eating a balanced diet seem impossible.
I mean, how many more responsibilities do you need?
But that’s the thing - eating a nutritious diet is the foundation to your success. It can give you the energy to study for exams and stay awake during three-hour seminars. And it may even grant you better grades.
Also, eating a balanced diet may improve your immune system, which results in fewer absences.
Yes, you’re not the only one snoozing in three-hour seminars.
One way to guarantee that you’re eating nutrient-dense and filling meals is to practice meal prepping. Meal prepping is cooking multiple servings of a meal in a single day. For instance, you can make your lunches for Monday through Friday by cooking in bulk on Sunday. All you have to do is pop it in Tupperware and grab it before you go out the door.
Click here to see some examples of lunches that are easy to meal prep.
For most college students, this can seem like a daunting task.
“Where will I find the time to grocery shop?”
“What should I cook?”
“HOW do I cook?”
I’m here to reassure you that meal prepping is not as hard as it seems. Throughout my college career, I've been a commuter student who has taken maximum credit loads for every semester.
Meal prepping was the secret to staying organized and making the little time I had count.
There’s nothing like the reassurance of having your lunch ready and prepped next to you at all times. And- you’re in full control of what you are eating because we all know how easy stress eating is. Not to mention how hard it is to stop grabbing for the nearest salty snack.
If you’re unsure of how to begin meal prepping, let’s dive into how you can take care of your body by preparing your meals for the week!
Basic Nutrition
The first step to meal prepping is deciding what you want to eat. I’m not a certified nutritionist, but I do have experience in eating for body function and performance since I am an athlete. These meal plans tend to be nutrient-dense and focused on eating whole foods.
What do I mean by whole foods? These are foods that usually don’t have a gigantic ingredient list listed on their packages. These include fruits, veggies, meat, beans, grains, and eggs.
For example, I made sure to eat foods that would give me sustainable energy for my last Jiu-Jitsu tournament. My breakfast for the day was a sautee of quinoa, scrambled egg whites, and black beans. The combination of protein and carbohydrates kept me fueled through each of my fights.
Here’s the number #1 tip you should follow when grocery shopping: stick to the perimeter of the store. While following the perimeter of the store, you’ll find your veggies and fruits, the deli section and dairy.
But this is not to say that you won’t go down any aisles. There are a few “whole foods” scattered throughout the middle of the store such as beans and rice.
The most important part of your meal plan and diet is BALANCE. Sure, you want to stick to whole foods mainly, but there’s nothing wrong with having Cheez-It’s as a snack every once in a while. Here’s a helpful grocery list you can follow if you want to meal prep your lunches:
- 2 types of fruits you enjoy
- 2 vegetables you enjoy
- Chicken (or tofu if you don’t eat meat)
- Brown rice
- Black beans
- Yogurt (dairy or non-dairy, try to pick one with less added sugars)
- Almonds (omit if you’re allergic to nuts)
- Honey (substitute maple syrup)
- Dark chocolate
- 1 type of cracker/treat that you enjoy such as Doritos
Make sure to multiply this list based on how many days you’ll want lunch. Your meal prep can last however many days you want it to, but I usually cap it at five days. Here’s the meal you’re going to make:
- Brown rice bowl with chicken/tofu, beans, and veggies
- Side of yogurt parfait (yogurt, fruit, almonds, honey)
- Side of dark chocolate
- 1 treat *alternate every other day*
This list is just for lunches, but you can prep any meal of your choice. If you want to meal prep your breakfast, add these items to your list:
- Large eggs (white or brown)
- Egg whites
- Loaf of bread (whichever kind you prefer)
- Any spread you put on toast
There’s your breakfast! You can make 2 eggs + extra egg whites for added protein with toast.
And if you’re interested in meal prepping your whole day, all you have to do is choose a different dish than your lunch for dinner. Since every student has a different living situation, I’ll leave this up to you to decide.
It’s important that when you go grocery shopping for your meal prep, you pick up any other items that you need such as laundry detergent or bottled water. This will save you time and stress throughout the week since your time is limited between classes to run to the store.
Budget
It’s easy to say what you need to get at the grocery store, but I know that not every student has adequate funds to purchase my entire grocery list. This doesn’t mean that you can't meal prep.
You can easily modify any grocery list to fit your needs. For instance, instead of getting two types of vegetables and fruit, you can only get one type of each. Or if raw chicken is too expensive, scour the frozen aisles for pre-cooked chicken tenders. They may not be the healthiest option, but they might be your only option at the moment.
If you’re a student that works a part-time job, meal prepping will save you more money than you’d expect. Instead of picking up random fast food meals throughout the week or spending $20 for a coffee and a treat at Starbucks, your only large purchase for the week should be your groceries.
For each paycheck, set aside $30-70 for your meal prepping. The more days you meal prep, the more you will spend. It’ll seem like a large amount at first glance, but $70 spread out over 5 days is $14 for multiple meal and snacks.
How to Meal Prep
After following your budget and gathering your groceries, it’s time to start meal prepping. Let’s grab our Tupperware and get to work!
The whole concept of meal prepping is cooking your meals in one session. Most people like to meal prep on Sunday since that’s when they have the least amount of plans. Choose a day where you know you’ll have at least 2 hours free to cook.
Here are a few tips to follow when preparing your meals:
- Empty the dishwasher and sink before you start
- Have multiple foods cooking at once (chicken on the stove, veggies in the oven, etc.)
- Always start with the food that takes the longest to cook (rice can take up to 45 minutes)
- Make sure to eat and get yourself in a good mood before cooking
- Clean as you go
With these tips, your meal-prepping session should go smoothly. Meal prepping is something that takes time to truly perform well. The more you do it, the better it gets.
It also may help to try meal prepping with a friend or roommate so that you can delegate and split tasks.
Don’t be discouraged if your first meals are poorly seasoned or cooked through. The only way to improve is to practice and stay consistent.

What even is Australian Christmas like???
very hot. i’ll give like a detail of what happens in my family since idk what other families really do but i think ours is pretty stereotypical. many families involve swimming in christmas is what i know. we have a massive christmas dinner on christmas eve and opening presents from extended family (it’s ALWAYS hand creams and perfumes from aunts and uncles and books from my grandad) in summer dresses and formalwear at my cousins place usually involving a dip in the pool (it’s basically aussie tradition). christmas day usually involves opening presents (we don’t really use stockings though we did when i was younger) and then we go to my grandads in whatever dress we get for christmas for tea, mince pies, and pudding. we go home and host a christmas lunch with my mums side of the family and this is what is peculiar for the rest of the world i think- what we eat. we have:
king prawns
turkey
cold ham + cold meats
roasted vegetables
pavlova (it’s like a meringue cake and it’s the highlight)
more pudding (it’s a different kind to before)
cabanossi
dips and crackers
potato salad
its just a lot of summer-y food idk lmao, i know some houses do barbecues to be extra australian
more mince pies
also we have bonbon crackers i don’t know if that’s universal, but you pull them with another person and whoever pulls the bigger half gets the cheap prize inside (usually a keychain, a paper hat and a joke lmao)
then we open more presents, maybe go for a swim, some of my family watches tv and then they go home and we relax and watch carols or whatever christmas special is on.
i should add!! many people go on walks around their communities to look at christmas lights and such in the weeks leading up to christmas, my family does it too and it’s very fun. we don’t have mistletoe though that’s another thing that’s different

Title: Copycat
Summary:
""Shitty four eyes and clean freak? Would you know what those words mean?" The teacher asked.
Hange and Levi exchanged knowing glances. A parent teacher conference wasn't at all the right place to explain nicknames. Really though, when would it ever be the appropriate time to explain them?"
Levi and Hange learn the hard way that children like to imitate.
Link: AO3
Notes: This has been on my WIPs for a while and I have a few other prompts for domestic verse pieces so will probably focus on them first hehe. Anyway, feedback is very much appreciated!
“Levi Ackerman and Hange Zoe…”
The teacher was looking through what could have been the class list. No, it definitely was a class list. They were in a parent teacher meeting, what else could it be.
With the way she was holding it though, it was difficult for Levi to sneak a peek at its contents. Eventually, he gave up and let his mind wander, his eyes soon followed. He spared a glance at Hange to see she had cocked her head just a little bit to the side. She was definitely as curious if not more curious about the contents of the piles of paper.
The teacher, Ms. Wilde had a smile on her face and it had been that way since Luke had started school. Her expression then wasn't too far from her usual smile but her eyes were too wide, her mouth too flat of a line especially when she bit her lips. And when she ran her eyes over documents, she seemed…. Stiff.
Uncomfortable? DIsturbed maybe? Levi was expecting the worst.
“Commander Hange Zoe and Retired Captain Levi Ackerman…” Ms. Wilde corrected, clearing her throat.
“No need for any formalities. I mean you have been taking care of our son…” Hange held one hand out for a hand shake, obviously trying to ease the tension in the room.
“Yes, he’s a pleasant kid,” Ms. Wilde added, nodding her head. The discomfort on her face still did not waver.
He is a pleasant kid. Levi was with that kid 24/7. He brought the kid to school and back home, he cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner and he taught him all chores possible at the ripe age of two. Levi was almost certain that along with it, he had taught the kid basic manners.
Levi had to admit though, he himself wasn’t the most diplomatic either. The kid though was glaringly much nicer than Levi was and on top of that, he had picked up some of his other quirks from Hange. The boy didn’t have to be exceptional though. At the least, Luke should have been a functioning member of the kindergarten.
Not enough to make a teacher squirm as she spoke about him. Right?
Most days… And as Levi reflected on it, he started to dig deeper into the past few years, the almost negligible cracks in between their routine. Was there anything he failed to teach Luke? Hange could have been asking the same thing, she looked at Levi questioningly.
Ms. Wilde cleared her throat and in her own way, she had broken some of the residual tension. “Apologies… I’ve been stalling.” She turned to Hange. “Commander Zoe…”
“Retired… Commander Zoe,” Hange corrected.
Was Hange stalling? Or just deliberately looking for a way to alleviate whatever tension had blanketed the room. Hange’s own corrections though were only delaying the inevitable, stretching the tension for longer than necessary.
“I wanted to talk to you about your son," Ms. Wilde started.
No shit. “Go on….” Levi said softly, not loud enough for her maybe. He subtly moved his hands in some signal to continue, as if that could have been communication enough.
Ms. Wilde stared for a bit longer and when Levi squinted, focusing on the paper underneath, he could tell it was a drawing, the crayon ink, visible from just behind the paper. She then put that same crayon art on the top of that stack of papers. “Shitty four eyes… and Clean freak?”
The words sounded strange from anybody else’s mouth, particularly a teacher who had attempted to say it with so professional of a tone and with emphasis on syllables and on words which made it sound unintelligible to anyone less familiar.
“Excuse me?” Hange asked. She had said those words a little too fast. With Levi thinking the same thing though, it had sounded clear enough.
Ms. Wilde flipped the paper open and down on the table.
There were two stick drawings, one with glasses and brown hair, definitely Hange and one with an apron and a bandana over his head and an unimpressed look on his face. That second one was definitely Levi.
Just below it, a caption which Levi had to squint twice to read
Shut tea for ice clean freek. It was straight out gibberish.
Ms. Wilde preempted it. “Would you know what this means?” She looked back up at them expectantly. “Your son… he tried to explain it to me and he said, you two would say… Shut tea for ice and clean freek.” She had said it with unexpected emphasis on some syllables and it was starting to sound like a glaringly familiar cluster of phrases.
Enough for Levi to freeze in his seat and start to dig for some sense in his speculations.
“Don’t get me wrong… Your child being able to spell at this age… It’s admirable, remarkable really,” Ms. Wilde continued. Was she consoling them or admiring them? With that soft and gentle of a voice, it was difficult to tell.
If Levi hadn’t been too busy trying to make sense of that last phrase maybe he would have at least attempted to read through her body language. The teacher had already presented a problem though and naturally, he found himself attempting to get to the bottom of that initial issue.
Luke had Hange’s brain. With Levi on top of that child most of the day, he was perfectly aware of what Luke would usually be playing with. He had gifted Luke letter tiles and had played with him multiple times, at Hange's suggestion of 'something more educational.'
He could have sworn the other times Hange had gotten off work and had played with those tiles with him before dinner, she had been teaching him herself. Although, some words were strange and unfamiliar, she never thought him any of those words. Never.
Levi looked back up at the teacher, forcing himself to meet her eyes. What was the best thing to say?
These are our nicknames. Nope. Should they be divulging something so personal in a professional meeting?
Maybe he could break that awkwardness by complimenting Luke’s work. For a three year old, Luke did a good job with the coloring. Or maybe Levi was just hyperaware about his dad status and somehow everything their little human made seemed almost surreal, almost beautiful even if it was just a bunch of stick figures.
Hange held the drawing between her fingers, her eyes wide with what looked to be the same wonder Levi was holding in. “We’ve been teaching him how to read,” Hange said. “Read and write.”
“But, would you know what ‘shut tea for ice’ means?” The teacher asked.
“Levi here… He really likes tea,” Hange said calmly. “And he likes it with ice.”
“What about clean freak?”
“He cleans with me a lot…” Levi said.
The teacher sighed. “Apologies for the misunderstanding but those words…” She leaned over, cupping her mouth, to soften to a whisper just for the three of them. “It sounds pretty vulgar to me. If you could talk to your son about it, so he could stop calling the other kids names… That would be very much appreciated.”
“Wait, our son, he’s calling people names?”
The teacher shrugged. “I heard him talking to one of the kids just recently… He kept calling her ‘shut tea for eyes.’ and just the other day, when we were cleaning up the locker… then he called her a cleen freek.” She sighed. “It might be just my imagination but it sounds to me like bullying if you know what I mean?”
“Bullying? How?” Hange asked. The knowing look in her face betrayed such a question.
“Well you see, Sarah wears glasses and she likes keeping her cubbyhole neat so… I can’t help but think he might actually be saying….”
“Shitty four eyes?” Levi repeated it again, with a familiar manner, all the emphasis on the right tones. He could almost taste the sweet venom that laced it every other time he said it before.
“And clean freak?” Hange repeated.
The teacher put her hands up in defense. “But that might just be my wild imagination. If ‘shut tea for ice’ is really code in your family, maybe you could spend some time explaining to your son what it actually sounds like?”
***
Shut tea for ice.
Levi could have been in denial. The first plan of action as soon as he got home was to open and close the cupboard a few times over and stare at the box of tea bags every single time. He was deep in thought, still trying to come up with any other reason for those words to roll so easily out of his son’s mouth.
“You want me to make dinner?” Hange called out from the living room.
Levi instinctively turned behind him and towards the voice, craning his neck to look past the kitchen counter. Hange was sitting cross legged on the floor, a toddler Luke right next to her.
The letter tiles Hange had scattered on the floor were an eye sore.
An eyesore which Levi tolerated. After all, Hange had done amazingly at making Luke one of the smarter toddlers in his class.
Experiment… Titan… Omnivore...Carnivore… Whether the child needed to know how to spell those words at that young of an age, Levi wasn’t too certain. At least if ever the classes shifted to topics on history or science, Luke would have the upper hand.
Or so, that was what Levi consoled himself with as he looked back at the cupboard, trying to erase that picture of a mess in the living room. His own experiences with playing with those blocks had been teaching Luke words like clean, broom, breakfast, lunch, dinner. For a second, he wondered which Luke enjoyed more.
“I’ll make it,” Levi said. “You’re at work most days. I’d rather you spent your free time bonding with Luke.”
Hange didn’t respond and the next few minutes passed with the clacking of the wooden letter tiles on the floor. And then an exchange which Levi felt almost compelled to insert himself in.
“When the creature eats both vegetables and meat…” Hange started.
“Omnivore,” Luke answered.
“And meat only?”
“Carnivore.” He had learned to repeat those words clearly very quickly. Levi had to note as he tipped the tea, Luke had always learned to pronounce the more complex words within a few repeats.
The inquisitiveness and the natural genius came from Hange for sure. And Hange was only nurturing them. Soon, the conversation shifted to animals, and then to titans and why the fuck was she talking about her goddamn experiments?
Even when half listening, Levi never understood what the hell that one experiment after capturing the titan and burning through its hair actually did but Hange was suddenly talking about follicles, roots and some catalytic reaction.
Would Luke know what a catalytic reaction is? Levi attempted to answer it for himself by first asking, what the hell a catalytic reaction was. Whatever slate that had appeared in his mind remained blank and he asked another question. Should a child really be learning those words?
“And you know what a dinosaur looks like?” Hange asked.
“Dinosaur!”
A rustle of papers. Hange muttered something about a pencil.
Found one! Then the sound of scribbling on paper.
Levi was only starting to boil the soup, when whatever conversation on whether dinosaurs were omnivores or carnivores slipped one ear and out the other.
The padding of socks on the carpeted floor, Hange’s hums and just Luke’s high pitched voice lisping at some words, saying lines which could have started with Rs or Ws were faint and Levi found himself passing the time just listening to them as he stirred the soup.
He bent over, pulling out the tray of baked chicken from the oven. “Hange,” he called out.
Hange took a second longer than necessary to respond. “Hm?”
“Set the table,” Levi said. “It’s almost dinner time.”
No response. No clicking of plates, no slamming of utensils on the table.
“Hange?” Levi asked.
“Wait, just this last page,’ Hange said louder.
Levi closed his eyes and took a deep breath.
Hange was murmuring, words Levi couldn’t make sense of. And the lisping words, the mispronounced Rs and Ws and garbled syllables were telling. Luke was reading something out loud.
“That’s right! So, the plants eat through photosynthesis," Hange said.
“Hange, set the table,” Levi said.
Hange sighed in response. There were footsteps then the clack of plates.
Levi soon confirmed for himself that Hange had stood up, tiptoed and pulled a serving plate and a bowl from the upper cupboard. He transferred the roast chicken and the soup onto the plates. While it cooled, he took the bread basket and dropped it on the table, raising one eye at the view in front of him.
“Hange,” Levi said, louder this time.
Hange was back in the living room, cross legged once again, an open picture book in front of her. Luke had shifted to half lying down position, stomach down on the floor, propped up by the elbows.
“Are dinosaurs real?” Lukei asked.
Hange nodded. “They were alive a long time ago,” she said.
“Hey, you two. I said, let’s eat.” Levi found himself looking away as he noticed Luke’s mouth twist into a pout.
Hange sighed in disappointment. “Alright Luke, let’s stand up.” She carefully pulled her son up and guided him back to the table. She moved sluggishly towards the dining room table and it looked very much like Levi had virtually twisted her arm just to get her up.
To make things clear though, he didn’t. There were more pressing things at that moment than making sure the food he worked so hard on was eaten. Levi stared at them then back at the scattered letter tiles on the floor. Then back at Hange again.
The years might have just made it easier for Hange to pick up the silent question just with a few glances. “We’re gonna go back after we eat,” she answered,
“And you’re fine leaving a mess like that there,” Levi said. “What if someone trips on that?”
“Well, we won’t. Luke and I know that it’s there and you can just watch where you’re going right?”
“It’s still a hazard,” Levi argued.
“A negligible hazard.”
“Can’t you just clean it up then bring it out again later?”
“It takes time,” Hange answered nonchalantly as she walked past Levi.
For a retired commander with a full-time job rebuilding Paradis, time felt like a luxury more than disposable income did and Levi had only ever silently acknowledged that. The moment he looked back, he realized there wasn’t much he could have argued about. Hange guided Luke to his chair, and she started to pour the soup into his bowl.
Levi sat next to Hange and served Hange first then himself, a pressing distraction, long enough for Levi to need not look back at the mess on the floor.
“Luke, chickens look a little bit like dinosaurs,” Hange said.
Levi rolled his eyes. Most of their meals usually ended up as a science lesson.
Luke seemed to be enjoying it though. He clapped his hands excitedly. “We’re eating dinosaurs?”
In response to that, Levi shoveled more of the soup into his mouth, enough to give any excuse not to speak up. That wasn’t his conversation. It was Hange’s and Luke’s.
“Technically yes,” Hange said.
What the fuck is she researching this time? Hange did too many jobs at once that Levi never could catch up to her theory or vernacular wise.
“Like the book! The dinosaur looked like the book!” Luke said excitedly.
“Yes! You remember!” Hange mirrored that same excitement.
“Are dinosaurs like titans?”
“Technically no… They can be the same size... “
“Are titans omnivores?”
Hange hummed. She dropped her spoon and put one finger to her chin, a very climactic sequence of motions that could have meant she had something interesting to say. To the disappointment of everyone in the family, she returned the question with one word. “Maybe.”
They don’t eat. Levi added to himself silently.
“Do titans poo?” Luke pressed.
Hange opened her mouth to speak. “They don’t…”
And Levi only had a split second to note the glimmer in her eyes, then the wonder that could have come from reminiscing nights worth of experiments. Then the familiar excitement and passion he had seen so many times before in the barracks over tea.
Oh no. He looked back at the soup, a mixture of beans and tomatoes, the green of the vegetables sticking out at very strategic places.
What the fuck.
And Hange’s tirade only continued, and naturally Levi’s mind made sense of the words having had too many direct experiences with titans to last a lifetime. If he looked at his own soup from the right angle, with the right vegetable bits in the right places and the right lighting from just above them, he realized it looked just like vomit.
He was in a frustrating position, hungry but with no more appetite. He pushed himself up. “You two just keep talking. I’m gonna clean up.”
Hange stood up. “Wait, Levi where you going?”
Everything was just suddenly pissing Levi off at that moment. “I’m cleaning up your fucking mess.”
“That’s not a mess!” Hange retorted, an incredulous look on her face.
“I told you, just bring it out after if you wanna play again!” Levi bent over, and started to mix the blocks amongst one another. Words like carnivore, omnivore, photosynthesis, follicle suddenly mixed among one another. The tiles were suddenly gibberish, letter soup. And the more he mixed, the worse it became.
It became easier to put them into the basket.
“We were planning to go back to it after dinner. You didn’t have to clean it up,” Hange chided.
“Well, you two might step on it,” Levi said.
“Really?” Hange raised one eyebrow. “You can’t watch where you’re going?”
“Listen Hange, I’m the one who cleans this house ninety percent--- hell, a hundred percent of the time. I decide what messes we can leave around.”
“Well, it takes a kid a while to pick up the words, we were supposed to practice reading.”
“Hange a three year old does not need to know what photosynthesis means.”
“Three and a half,” Hange clarified. “A child his age does not need to live in an immaculate environment.” Clean. Hange definitely meant clean. The way she had said the word ‘immaculate,' the fact that she had chosen such a heavenly word, an almost self righteous sounding word felt almost mocking. “Why do you have to be such a clean freak about this?”
“Why do you have to be such a nerd about this. He’ll learn how to read big words at his own fucking time,” Levi said. He noted the way Hange had put one hand to her chest, seeming scandalized at whatever insinuation Levi had brought up.
When he was dealing with the someone who couldn’t bat an eye at hygiene and clutter, who suddenly thought the pursuit of knowledge was a must have for a poor four year old, Levi wasn’t feeling too guilty at offending her, at least not too much. He opened his mouth, only intending to let it out as a release born from quiet anger. And during moments of heightened emotions, sometimes he lost a little control, and sometimes, he’d fall back to very familiar habits.
Shitty four eyes.
Hange could have heard it, but they had said it so many times before, that she didn’t open her mouth to speak. He couldn’t be too sure either that he had said it out loud.
“Daddy? You want tea with ice?”
Levi only realized then, when the silence broke and a young Luke went in between them a mug in hand.
No hot water, no tea bag. A look of confusion on Luke’s face. ‘Daddy, shut tea for ice?” The words were stilted, the syllables garbled against one another.
Levi and Hange had both looked at Luke with the same surprised look, surprised but very very understanding of the current situation.

Shitty four eyes.
Luke didn’t have a potty mouth. Or at least, he wasn’t supposed to.
Levi was with Luke the most among everyone. The heavy responsibility of 'main provider' on his back, he found himself thinking back to every single ‘alone time,’ the two of them had since Luke had been old enough to talk. It had been a year at least since Luke had started to seem more like a companion than a responsibility. When Levi looked back at it though, he thought the moments to be countless and consequently, he had found it difficult to point out the exact point in time where Luke had thought it a good idea to blurt out the words ‘shitty four eyes.’
Coming up with no conclusion, he desperately grasped for a glimmer of an explanation. “Luke’s a nice kid, he wouldn’t call people names,”
“I don’t doubt that,” Hange responded, seeming not at all bothered by the chain of events.
“Hey, we’re still gonna have to explain that to Luke?”
“You tried a while ago, right?” Hange asked “What did Luke say?”
“He just kept repeating it… Shut tea for ice. Shut tea for ice.” Levi whispered in response, letting it get softer and softer on his tongue. It had been just an hour before they had put their son to bed. The conference, the incident just a while ago suddenly had self conscious about how loud they were talking and how close the bedroom door was to the living room. He turned to the sofa and sat a few more feet away from the door, as if that could have done anything to make their conversation more private.
“So Levi, what do you think that means?” Hange asked. She had moved next to him, as if she understood Levi’s intention with switching seats.
“He didn’t seem hostile,” Levi said.
“So he doesn’t think what he’s saying is bad right?”
“He called you shitty four eyes too.” Levi turned to Hange.
“And shitty four eyes has never been an insult to me. You’ve been calling him that since before,” Hange said.
“So what do you suggest?” Levi asked.
Hange was in deep thought for a second, one hand to her chin. She turned to the phone on the kitchen counter. “Calling someone more experienced maybe.”
***
Historia had a child, a good few years past the terrible twos and threes. Naturally, she seemed almost nonchalant about that problem.
“Imitation,” Hange said so confidently, yet so abruptly that morning as she sipped her coffee. She turned to Levi and grinned in the same exact way she would have dropped a research-backed theory many years ago when she was still a titan researcher.
“Titans used to imitate right?” Levi said. Mentioning the magic word ‘titans’ could be enough to pull any good ideas out of her.
“Yes, I know,” Hange said matter-of-factly. “And titans and humans are a little different… It would be easier to have a peaceful conversation with titans. Luke understands me almost perfectly. And you too. I think we can talk to him first about why using nicknames is bad.”
“You think a three year old can understand a convoluted explanation by Hange Zoe?”
“Three and a half,” Hange clarified again. If he can tell omnivores and carnivores apart, I’m sure he can tell the difference between calling people names and respecting people right?” She propped her mug on the dining room table and looked expectantly at Levi.
Levi averted his gaze. “Hange, do you think a three and a half year old will get it?” He dropped the tea bag into the mug and watched as the darker liquid consumed the water, touching the rims of the mug. He walked back to the dining table, settling himself on the chair right in front of Hange.
Hange chuckled. “Worth a try right?”
“Daddy! Shoes!” Luke was painfully demanding. And of all moments, it had been then that Levi noticed that Luke had picked up some of their attitude.
Right. Although Luke could easily get ready for school himself, tying shoes was still something Levi had been in the process of teaching him. “I’ll just help him tie his shoes first.”
“I’ll go ahead.” Hange gulped the last few drops of coffee. “Gonna be late for work. You think you can handle this?”
“Talk to Luke right?” Levi asked. “About the importance of respect?” He had put emphasis on those last three words, as if to hint to Hange that introducing such an abstract idea to a three year old seemed like not so good of an idea.
“Worth a try right?” Hange responded as she stood up and slung her back over her shoulder.
“And if it doesn’t work?” Levi pressed.
By then, Hange was already closer to the door than the dining table, far from hearing range of Levi’s naturally soft voice. Levi felt it pointless to say it louder, especially since by then, Hange had already slammed the door behind her.
And he had bigger fish to deal with, like a frustrated son, who had knotted the laces of his shoes enough times that Levi struggled to find the tips. “Luke… Why… Did you do it like this?” Levi had to resist the sweet temptation of inserting a ‘fuck’ somewhere on that question. After all, it wasn’t Luke’s fault he was just a three year old who was still learning the ropes.
The process of unknotting a very tight knot though was painful, frustrating enough for Levi to sit down crosslegged in front of his son. It was taking longer than a few seconds, enough to have a conversation.
“Luke… The school told me about ‘shut tea for ice’”Levi started and when he started to pull at the top most knot, he felt some sort of release with it, some extra reserves of patience he could easily tap at.
“Shitty four eyes! Clean Freak!” Luke responded happily.
When Levi looked up and met his son’s eyes, he couldn’t help but be somewhat bothered by the knowing and confident look. “You shouldn’t call people names Luke.” He put one finger right in front of Luke’s face.
Was that how to tell a kid off? Levi had been working with Luke long enough though to know, Luke didn’t understand what he was saying. Or maybe he didn’t understand what Levi meant.
What would Hange say? When Levi reflected on that though, the only thing he could salvage were her rants on photosynthesis and titan experiments. If their son understood those, he should understand a lecture on respect right?
“No.” One word Levi had learned as a parent. “No calling people names,” he added, his voice softer that time.
Luke pouted.
Levi had a soft spot for his son’s pout and consequently, he did what any sane parent would have done in that situation. He stared at the clock. Fifteen minutes before class starts. He stood up and took his son by the hand. “Come on Luke, let’s go to school.”
On the way to school, he allowed himself another session for self reflection. Imitation huh? Levi thought to himself. He had to admit, he may have called Hange ‘shitty four eyes’ more often than not and in return, he may have brushed off a few ‘clean freaks’ from Hange as well.
They could try to wean Luke out of it right or at least find out why Luke had been using it at school? He could leave that to Hange though, and maybe consult a bit with their teacher.
Levi took a deep breath, a loud one, particularly when they passed through one of the less saturated parts of town on the way to school. He was sure he had enough reserves at his already scarce social battery to deal with asking advice from teachers.
***
Same advice as Historia.
Children were master imitators. And whether a three year old (or a three and a half year old according to Hange) would understand such an abstract concept as respect, that was one thing they weren’t sure of.
So when dealing with a toddler, play with their imitator side, not this belief that they might actually understand an abstract concept.
Levi had repeated those same words to Hange. By that evening though, he had forgotten half of it, and he had hoped that was the message she got.
“So, we should change how we talk to each other then…” Hange leaned back on the sofa. “But when do you think Luke heard us say it?”
Levi shrugged. “When do you say it?”
In return, Hange shrugged and let out a short laugh. “To be honest, I don’t remember calling you a clean freak either.”
“When we fight?” Levi suggested.
“Or when we don’t?” Hange put her hands up. “Anyway, the important thing is, he hears us say it. That kid won’t get shitty four eyes or clean freak out of anywhere. So we watch ourselves okay? No using bad words in front of our son.”
“That’s easy.” Levi narrowed his eyes at Hange and sat back on the sofa. “I’ve been doing that ever since Luke was born.”
***
With a little more self-introspection and blatant awareness of his surroundings, Levi started to realize it wasn’t as easy as he had expected it to be. He had stopped himself enough times that his throat had been sore from the many times he concealed his own penchant for vulgarity with a dry cough.
“Luke, make sure to put your bag back in the room,” Levi said from the kitchen as he pulled an apple from the fruit basket. It was just like every other day before, pick Luke up, prepare an afternoon snack. Very routine, very predictable and the only thing that made it a challenge had been the heavy awareness that Levi did curse on a regular basis.
Or maybe just the fact that he had to watch himself, had him very very heavy, as if every move had to be cold and calculated.H e was a little more careful than usual with cutting the apple. And he was terribly terribly slow. By the time, he turned back to the kitchen counter, sliced apples arranged neatly on the plate, Luke had already settled on the seat in front of him, looking expectantly at the plate on Levi’s hands.
How long he had been there? Levi didn’t want to ask. “Are you hungry?” he asked instead.
Luke nodded. It was a stupid question, but at least his son was too young to judge his ineloquence.
He dropped the pile of apples in front of him and made himself comfortable on the seat next to his son. “After this, you wanna play with the tiles?” Levi offered.
But never freak. Levi told himself as even the prospect of teaching his kid was starting to weigh on him.
“Let’s play with the tiles!” Luke clapped one hand on the table, and he shoved one of the apples into his mouth.
“Okay, I’ll bring it out later,” Levi said. He took one apple from the plate and started to munch on it, only interrupted by the sound of the phone ringing a few seconds later.
Most days, the phone ringing was a nuisance, peppered with conversations with salesmen, customer service. Having grown up with a place with no phone, but too many scams, it was only natural that Levi would detect the opportunity for scams in that new fangled piece of technology.
There was one voice which always made the process of using the phone though, bearable, if not pleasurable.
“Levi! What’s for dinner tonight?”
“Four eyes, you’re out from work early.”
There was a pause, a pregnant and awkward pause. Then Hange spoke up. “Is Luke with you?”
The silence and that one question spoke for him. Levi spun around to see Luke, staring right at him. “Four eyes… Shitty...Four eyes?” The young boy repeated. It sounded rehearsed the first time around, then confident the second time.
There was a lot he had to teach the kid.
“Just take out food for dinner. Luke and I will have a long talk,” Levi said.
***
Levi’s mind was a blank slate. That wasn’t necessarily a good thing though.
Whatever he was supposed to say to lecture Luke on proper respect lasted at the most, a few seconds in his muddled brain. It went into one ear and quickly out the other.
Somewhere along the way, Levi had given up. He had mentioned words like ‘respect,’ ‘not nice.’ When he didn’t even believe half of what he had spewing out of his mouth, he ended up unable to blame Luke for wearing such a blank expression.
Would Hange have done a better job at teaching Luke? Maybe.
Levi had never been the most diplomatic person, having sat at the sidelines every time Hange had been negotiating trade contracts and war treaties. Besides, he didn’t believe it completely necessary either to teach children not to curse.
There were bigger fish to fry, like rebuilding a war torn country, eradicating poverty and starvation, income inequality and terrorism.
Having lived like a soldier his whole life, dealing with something so mundane as a teacher’s request to teach his child not to curse, seemed almost mundanely unnecessary.
When his son was insulting other children, when a teacher was telling his son off for it, Levi didn’t necessarily find it horrifying. School rules were school rules though and their new society made compliance for three year olds a big issue. Maybe he could leave that educating to Hange though, and just focus maybe on teaching the young boy how to read.
He rearranged the letters and a few times, he gave free rein to his son to form words himself.
There were easy words like ‘dog,’ ‘cat,’ and ‘cow.’ Although Levi had been surprised that Luke had independently put together more complex words like ‘broom’ and ‘clean,’ he started to accept anyway, that it was only natural that the young boy would know them. After all, Hange had been teaching him more complex words like ‘photosynthesis,’ ‘omnivore’ and ‘carnivore.’
Luke had been spelling all those words on his own while Levi watched silently. And when Levi started to scramble the pieces again, just to watch what his son would create, he started to notice some pattern.
Shut
“Shut!” Luke screamed. He didn’t completely open his mouth though, and it started to sound more like another cursed word. Levi wasn’t going to mention that though.
“Shut…” Levi explained. Like ‘Shut up.’ ‘Shut up’ wasn’t the most diplomatic expression and it was probably better not to teach his son that at such a young age. “Like shut the door,” Levi added a second later. He mimed the act of slamming a door closed, suddenly self conscious of how rude it probably would be to slam a door. Was Luke going to start slamming doors if he made his movements too forceful?
Ice
“Ice!” Luke read aloud.
“Ice…” Levi paused for a second, racking his brain for the best way to explain it without having to go for the refrigerator and risk making a mess on their matted living room floor. “The cold thing…”
Four
“Four!”
“The number,” Technically there were two words ‘four’ and ‘for.’ What do you call those filler words? How do you define the word for? Levi realized then, there were only too many ways he could explain what words like ‘for,’ ‘to,’ were used for. He could just leave that to the school to explain.
Tea
“Tea!”
“Te---”
“Daddy likes tea!” Luke started. His face fell. “Right?”
In shock, Levi didn’t even notice he had frozen still, his hand dropping the tile. He nodded. “Yeah I like tea.” He allowed himself a tight lipped grin as he adjusted the letters just to make his son’s final product a little neater. “I really like tea.”
“Shitty four eyes?” His son said again, his excitable tone from a while ago unwavering.
That’s a bad word. Levi wanted to say. That’s disrespectful. He couldn’t bring himself to say anything else though. After all, his son was a bundle of innocence, a bundle of excitement. Did Luke even know what the hell he had been saying?
Levi was pathetic. He was weakshit. And he couldn’t even bring himself to disciplining his child on something he personally didn’t even believe in. He continued to reflect on it as he rearranged the letters again. Then he further wallowed in whatever guilt settled in him as he stood up and walked towards the kitchen. As he prepared dinner, then washed the dishes.
When Hange came home, he at least had been ready enough to speak. “I think he’s too young to understand,” Levi said.
“Well a three and a half year old would have a hard time understanding abstract ideas right?”
“Says the parent who’s teaching a three year old science.”
Hange pouted. “Science is not an abstract concept.”
“That’s not the point,” Levi said firmly. He knew if he didn’t interrupt Hange there, she probably would have gone on another tirade. “Do you have any ideas? On how to deal with this?”
“I have one,” Hange said. “I was talking to Historia just today, and some other parents…” She propped her chin on the palm of her hand. “Have you considered… Aside from just laying off, the shitty four eyes first? And I’ll lay off the clean freak? I mean, the kids apparently, at this age, they like to imitate and if we just be more careful about what we’re saying and try to say something nicer, more positive as nicknames. He should stop right?”
“We’ve been calling each other for years,” Levi commented.
“But, not in public right?” Hange said. “You never really said it during meetings.”
“Well those were meetings.”
“Think of this as a meeting, except this time, our son is probably listening to us every single time.” She frowned, wrinkled her nose and looked behind her. Just on the other side of the wall was Luke’s bedroom. It was late at night and he probably was asleep.
But with their conversations and Luke's tendency to pick things up, it only proved that the walls may have been too thin and their son may have been very observant.
Levi raised his eyebrows. “So you’re saying…”
Hange nodded. No clean freak. No shitty four eyes. AT ALL. She spelled out those nicknames slowly and carefully, just so their son wouldn't’ pick the words up, taking in the small possibility that he was awake.
Levi sighed. “Fine.” He wasn’t fine. Their home was supposed to be their private space. Luke would be a sponge for information but a stranger to logic and abstract concepts for the next two years.
Letting go of such an intimate habit born through years in the survey corps just to please the teachers and to make it easier for their son fit in, seemed almost unfair. He sought solace at least in Hange’s forced grin. She didn’t want to do it either.
We suffer together. Levi thought to himself. With a quick glance at her, Levi was sure Hange understood. Making it an issue of pride and misery made it all together a more bearable challenge.
***
It was bearable at least. And it took a little more careful introspection to pick up those few moments he had called Hange 'shitty four eyes' or ‘four eyes’ and he started to realize, it had been more difficult to point out than his own abrasive choice of words and his own vulgarity.
Shitty four eyes after all, never seemed like a string of curse words or insults. It was a pet name, so invisibly embedded in conversations that Levi felt strangely incomplete not peppering his dialogue with it.
Hange seemed to struggle as well. Clean freak. She used to say. She had started to replace it with something more diplomatic. “You really like cleaning huh?” A few syllables longer but it felt terribly, terribly unnatural. And Hange always accompanied it with the widest and most cringe inducing grin.
Every single time, Levi would look away, to stop himself from laughing or grimacing, one of those. Hange must have been doing the same though.
Shitty four eyes.
He had replaced ‘shitty four eyes’ with the closest thing he could come up with. It had taken some strict observation from other couples to pick up the best one. “Yes honey, I really love cleaning,” Levi admitted. He put enough emphasis on the pet name, hoping that would at least teach their child about proper pet naming conventions, the importance of ‘not cursing’ and just conventional diplomacy.
Hange was only making it harder to take the challenge seriously, a sardonic grin constantly plastered on her face. Every single time, he had called her honey, she looked away and cleared her throat, or let out a wracked cough, a good disguise for what he guessed had been a laugh.
A shoddy disguise but somehow, it seemed to work. Luke would watch them every time, his stare far from blank. He had on the same face he made every single time he would form those words with the blocks. Luke was deep in thought. “Shitty four eyes! Clean freak!” He said a second later.
Luke would then repeat that many few times over dinner or breakfast.
Imitation. Levi would tell himself, will himself to ignore Luke’s words. As painfully uncharacteristic as it was. Levi would trod on with his mission. “Honey, you want more bread?” Levi tried to make that one word seem as sweet as it sounded. He never got the practice though, so he wondered if he ever had the innate ability to make any words sound sweet.
“Thank you honey,” Hange responded, her grin much wider. A split second later, she looked away, seeming ashamed with herself.
Levi couldn’t blame Hange. It was a painful rendition, her tone seemed very much rehearsed. And when it was common knowledge between them that she was naturally more eloquent than he was, Levi found himself wondering how bad he sounded.
As long as Luke learns. Levi willed himself to swallow whatever embarrassment and stifling sensation came with the slow and excruciating weaning process from very intimate habits.
Luke eventually picked it up. “Ho...ney?” he repeated as his eyes darted between his two parents.
Yes. Honey. Levi nodded.
Luke’s face fell, his expression shifted from something curious, then something confused. Ending with something that could have been a hint of crestfallenness.
Levi couldn’t be too sure though. The boy looked down at his food and Levi couldn’t bring himself to crane his neck and sneak a glance to confirm it. The drooping shoulders of his son was enough to get his stomach turning though.
How long would it take for him to get used to it? Three weeks? Months? Eventually Luke should get used to it… Right?
It was one of those rare days where Hange had decided to work from home. Her piles of paperwork took up more than half their dining table and food would seem more like a hazard than a necessity.
When Hange was only present during weekends, Levi at the least, tolerated it.
On one condition, he was allowed to straighten out the almost two foot tall pile everytime he passed by the dining room in between household chores. When Hange was deep into hundreds of pages worth of reports though, she didn’t look like she minded Levi’s silent interruptions.
“What time are you picking Luke up from school?” Hange asked.
Levi looked at the clock. “He gets out of school at two today,” he answered. It was eleven, and half his mind was already looking into planning lunch.
“Okay,” Hange said, her focus fell back to the paperwork.
It wasn’t anything new, even on weekends or any other day Hange was home, Levi did most of the cooking and cleaning. Hange’s presence did manage to take some of the load off household management off of his shoulders.
Answering the phone was no exception.
Most days, Levi was capable of doing it on his own. When the vegetables were boiling on a pot, the pasta heating in the oven just below it, Hange offered to answer the phone.
“Zoe residence… Speaking…” Hange had always been better at answering the phone anyway. “Luke?”
Levi’s ears perked up at that. He lowered the heat of the stove, as if that would have done anything to make the conversation clear.
“What? Why? No… We’re not.” Hange’s voice was racked with surprise. “....You’re right. We’ll get there soon… We can leave now… We’re not too busy….”
Hange? Not busy? Levi had turned off the stove. Lunch never was the most urgent thing. “You’re going to school?”
“It’s about Luke.”
No shit. “I can tell that much from the conversation,” Levi said. “What happened?”
“He just started crying apparently…” Hange said.
Levi sensed the urgency in the speed at which she pulled her coat over her and retied her hair. “Crying over?” Levi pressed. Luke rarely cried and just that thought had Levi’s heart pounding.
“When the teachers were explaining… Luke was crying about… his parents… About us?”
“Your son said, you two ‘’didn’t love each other anymore’” the headmaster explained. It had been just them in the office but with the way the headmaster had explained it, it looked like she could have been quoting Luke word per word.
Levi surreptitiously flashed Hange a look of confusion, a glance just to see if she knew anything.
She seemed as lost as he was. “Can we talk to our son?” Hange asked.
“Before that, I just wanted to discuss the family situation first… See if we could do anything to support Luke through this?”
“Through what?”
“Through your ‘separation?’”
Levi turned to Hange, his eyes wide. We’re separating?
Hange furrowed her brows at him, an incredulous look. She turned abruptly back at the principal. “Who told you we’re separating?”
“Your son said you two have been fighting a lot. And he seemed very affected...”
“Fighting?” Levi asked. Are we?
No we aren’t. Hange’s expression said it all. “If there’s any misunderstanding, we can explain it to Luke ourselves.”
“You have to understand. We have our students welfare in mind. If we believe that your son is being raised in an unsuitable environment…”
“Excuse me?” Hange put one hand to her chest. Her tone was slipping to something with more emotion than any attempt at compromise.
“Just let us talk to our son,” Levi said. The echo of his own voice sounded unfamiliar in that small voice, especially since Hange had done the talking the whole time.
“We’ve been hearing as well about the vulgarities your son has been spouting...” the headmaster said.
“Yes, we’ve been working on it,” Levi said firmly, with every intention to interrupt the old lady.
“I’d like first some verbal commitment from both of you at least to work on this? We treat every child here like part of the family. With the case on Luke’s word usage and his suddenly bursting into tears in school… It looks like his home environment might not be ideal.”
“Can you let us talk to our son please?” Levi said. He turned to Hange. The brunette had fallen silent yet she seemed very much deep in thought.
“Could you please explain though from your end the debacle about the ‘shitty four eyes’ and the ‘clean freak?”
“We’re working on it,” Levi repeated. Somehow, it was getting harder and harder to sit still.
The condescending look in the woman’s face, the accusing glare wasn’t making it any easier. “But have you been working hard on it? Can I ask what is causing you to employ such vulgarity in your own home, in an environment for children?”
Since when did schools in Paradis get this vigilant about children’s home lives? It was a welcome change at least but Levi was in no mood to ponder the benefits of such an arrangement. “With all due respect ma’am, that’s none of your goddamn business.”
Levi could have just made it worse. And Hange said so herself, in between a stifled grin and a stifled chuckle.
If his own treatment of the very snobby principal could have done anything to convince the whole school that they were shitty parents. He was confident at least, Luke would defend them.
I mean a three year old should be capable of defending their parents right?
A three and a half year old. Hange’s words echoed in his head. If the ‘half year’ of living did anything to make Luke anymore aware of what exactly was going on, he prayed it did work.
Whether it was because he was three and a half or he was merely three, he seemed to have understood. A flash of recognition as they locked eyes along the hallways, Luke still let go of the Ms. Wilde's hand and ran towards them.
By some instinctive need to prove something maybe, Levi clutched Hange’s hand. She gripped back.
Luke seemed to have noticed it. “No fighting?”
“Fighting? Who said we’re fighting?” Hange bent down and patted her son on the head with her free hand.
A wide grin on his face, Luke turned to Hange. “Shitty four eyes.” Then to Levi. “Clean freak.”
Levi bent down, right next to Hange. “Yes, this is my shitty four eyes,” Levi said as he put one hand on Hange’s head, pulling her close.
“And this is my clean freak,” Hange pointed a finger to her left, towards Levi.
Something felt natural and intimate and something tasted sweeter than honey when he was saying those words again, words he had kept nill for months.
The grin in Luke’s face only made the release all the sweeter. “Shitty four eyes and clean freak!” Soon, he was running back to the teacher that had called out to him. He still had a few more hours of school.
“I guess we’ve been pretty careless about the nicknames huh?” Hange whispered wryly. “He’s probably just too young to understand what ‘shitty’ or what ‘freak’ could imply in any other situation.”
Levi stared ahead, at the young boy who was talking to the teacher in whatever childish babble the three year old could manage. “You know, the nicknames never felt like an insult to me.”
“I mean, we have been using them since we’ve met right? It just slips off our tongue every now and then,” Hange said as she let out a soft chuckle.
Every now and then. No a lot more often, than every now and then. To the point that Levi never felt it when it happened. Yet the absence of such words were painfully glaring.
“What are we going to do now about Luke’s language?” Levi averted his gaze, perfectly aware that if Luke had learned anything, it had probably been from his father.
“Have you ever taught him what the words ‘shitty’ or ‘freak’ meant?”
“Never,” Levi said.
“Then maybe we don’t have to think too much about it?” Hange suggested.
But it continued to nag. After all, the teachers continued to stare, probably whispering. Levi and Hange spent the last few hours before school ended just sitting by the courtyard of the school and they had more than enough evidence by then to be sure, teachers were talking.
When the bell rang, they found themselves attempting to brush away whispers and glares from the teacher, instead focusing on the hallways which were starting to fill with toddlers and kids.
And eventually, they found Luke, next to him a young girl in pig tails, with glasses. She wore a blouse and a skirt without a single crease on them. “This is my shitty four eyes… And my Clean freak!” Luke said. The girl next to him waved her hand, a wide grin on her face, not at all fazed by the words ‘shitty’ or ‘freak.’
Levi exchanged a knowing glance with Hange. No other words were shared between them but somehow they both understood. Maybe adults were just overthinking that very simple thing called language.

You were always the night owl, lived off coffee and good books and you only wear dark colors. Your routine includes waking up at 10 pm, Cooking and eating your dinner at approximately 11:30 pm, Studying until 6 am, Taking a shower, Make your coffee, and be at school at 7:00 am where you meet up with you too-bright-and-jolly girlfriend, Alice Cullen. After school you then either head home to your own house, or to the Cullens household, either way you crash into anything soft and just ultimately pass out, and your cycle repeats. Sometimes your girlfriend would join you in studying even if she didn’t need it, Sometimes you’d do other things with your girlfriend, some of the things you do aren’t appropriate for a house full of vampires with super hearing, and not to mention her nosy brother who had the ability to read minds.
“Get out of the way before I pummel you to the ground asshole.” You grumbled to the guy who’s blocking your way and was staring at your girlfriend like she’s a piece of meat. You hated that but you couldn’t do anything. One, pretty sure it’s illegal to kill someone even if you’re thinking about all the ways you could and Two, you miss you girlfriend’s cold hand holding yours.
You see him shiver before grabbing his things and scrambling away, his goons hot on his tail.
“You have the most creative mind I have ever come across. Really? Using his blood as paint after you use gamma rays to blow up his uhm. Yeah. Where would you even get gamma rays?” Edward scrunches his face as they all approach you.
“Pretty sure Carlisle would hook me up with some.” You smirked then kissed your girlfriend’s forehead, You held her hand in yours as she giggled, getting out of her trance like state.
“Carlisle denied.” She kissed your cheek before dragging you inside the school, where they all separated like the goddamn sea in that one bible story.
Safe to say, you were pretty feared in the whole town. Socially isolated, always has a cup of coffee in hand, dark marks under your eyes, a blank looks often settles on your face, always had earphones in, glared at people who made your family uncomfortable, scared people without trying and a student could’ve sworn he saw you drink someones blood which he says was inside your coffee cup. It was beetroot juice since you ran out of coffee but needed something hot to drink, so you made beetroot juice, with lots and lots of sugar. You were dubbed as a vampire or a witch, which was hilarious considering your girlfriend is a vampire. A bright, happy, sparkling vampire who doesn’t sleep in coffins whatsoever.
“Have a good day baby, see you at lunch.” Alice kissed your cheek before bouncing in her classroom followed by Emmett who winked at you and Rosalie who raised her brows at you and told you to behave.
“I always behave!” You argued with a small pout on your lips, barely noticeable but Rosalie just smirks before walking gracefully into the room, sitting in between Emmett and Alice who just shooed you away.
“It’s never a good day.” you whispered while walking away, fully knowing that they could hear you.
Lunch came so slow that by the time you sat at your usual spot, you already had thoughts on murdering your history teacher who ‘unintentionally’ spat at your face and drizzled her spit on your face like a waterfall.
“It’s only been half a day Y/LN, You’ll get through it.” Rosalie slides her tray of food over to you while petting your head.
“i don’t understand why you choose to go through this over and over again.” You groaned, laying your head on Alice’s shoulder. They just laughed and proceeded to talk about things that you don’t even bother to listen to.
“You’re coming over today right?” Alice asked you with that bell like voice that you so loved
“Hmm? Oh yeah, Cuddles?” You whispered to her, internally groaning at how soft you’ve become for your girlfriend.
“Yes please. You’re warm.”
“And you are freezing cold.” You retorted, stealing some of her fries
“It comes with the package. Now come on, I’ll walk you to your room.” She pats you head while moving away, packing her things. Which low-key made you whine.
“But I always escort you to your room.” You complained
“That’s true, but I figured you wouldn’t be opposed to change.” She smiled, offering her hand which you took.
“Edward?”
“Nope. Not telling you. I am not going on another shopping spree with that little devil of yours.” He sped walked away, dragging Bella with him
“I think you traumatized him real bad, Ali.” You chuckled
“Good.” She exclaimed
12 midnight, and you just woke up to Alice holding you while reading a book, She smiles at you before tapping her lips, asking for a kiss. You shook your head no, trying to get out of her arms to brush your teeth.
“Nope, kisses first before brushing.” She grips you tighter
“Eww. Morning breath. Alice please!” She just grins before showering your face with kisses.
“There. You can go now, Esme just finished your dinner.” She beamed at you, pushing you into the large bathroom that she has before sitting on the sink.
“Uhm...” You stare at her, confused
“What?”
The both of you took an hour long shower, you didn’t even need to shower, Alice just persuaded you into doing so. Earning you different looks from different vampires the moment you walked down the stairs.
A suggestive smirk from Rosalie and a laughing Emmett A smirking Jasper A confused Bella with a disgusted looking Edward A smiling Esme holding a bowl of food  And lastly, A laughing Carlisle.
“Oh my God.” You groaned, walking to the dining room, thanking Esme for the food.
“Really Y/N?” complained Edward who’s cuddling a still confused Bella
“What? Just because you decide to wait until marriage does not mean I have to.” You smirked, winking at Edward who would be blushing if he was human.
“Don’t talk while your mouth is full.” Scolded Esme who’s also trying to keep her laugh in
“Yes Mom. Anyways, Bella I love you, but you look like you’re about to shut down and ready to be pawned like an old computer.” You told her, biting into a chicken leg
“i’ll take her home.” Edward says, grabbing his keys and waits for Bella.
“Why is she here anyways” Grumbled Rosalie, who everyone ignored while you just tapped her head
“Let’s play chess when you get back!” You shouted after him
You finish your food quickly and washed your plates, much to the distaste of Esme, leading your giggling short girlfriend to the couch beside Jasper.
“Jasper~ Wanna watch documentaries of wars and judge everything they did wrong?” You ask Jasper who’s nodding at your request. Alice plopping herself on your lap as she stares at you laughing and smiling with her family.
She’s really happy to have found you the way she did, She reminisced the time when the two of you first met. You were browsing racks and racks of clothes, taking black colored blouses, shirts and button-ups that are your size before walking into a dressing room. While you were in the room, she started to have a vision about the two of you together, having dates and you carrying her shopping bags in this same store, making her all giddy. She was with Rosalie at that time, who just stared at her with a look of slight confusion as she basically bounced to you. You at first was taken aback that someone was actually talking to you, and it was a cute girl at that. Alice greeted you with a smile and a hello before handing you a green blazer and tie, telling you emerald green compliments your eyes and outfit before paying for what you were buying, writing her name and number on the receipt, leaving you dumbfounded at the store
At first she thought that the both of you wouldn’t work out, especially because of all the chaos that recently happened to her family and leaving forks. But you made the effort of always texting her little notes and telling her how your day was, even if she didn’t reply, slowly she felt herself fall more in love with you, letting herself reply and indulge in the visions that she had that involved you. Once she told her family about you, they were a bit skeptical, especially since Carlisle tended to your knuckle wounds one too many times. But upon seeing the love sick look on both your eyes and the loud complaining of Edward at how sickeningly cute your thoughts were of each other, they eventually accepted you as one of their own despite being human.
And now she stares in awe as you spent about 2 hours criticizing documentaries with Jasper before Edward comes home, and when he did, you played a couple rounds of chess (You always lost, which made Edward laugh every time.) before she decided that she’s bored with you losing to her brother every round and just decided to pick you up and dash to her room.
“What was that for love?” You ask her when she settled herself in your arms
“I just. I was bored and I realized that it’s been too long since we cuddled.”
“It’s literally been 4 hours since I woke up bumblebee.” You ran your hand through her hair
“I missed you. 4 hours is too long.”
“Awe. I missed you too. Want to pick up where we left off on How to Kill a Mockingbird?” You ask her
“Yes please, I love hearing your voice.” She puts her face on the crook of your neck as you read to her, one of your hand intertwined with hers.
Even though she can’t fall asleep anymore, she loves the way your voice sounds, it calms her down and she could easily compare the “peace” she feels right now to the “peace” she could remember feeling when she was asleep. She really did love you and she doesn’t hesitate to let you know. In multiple various ways.
Like now, she cut off your reading when her soft lips touched yours. You immediately let go of the book to hold her face lovingly as you put all your feelings into the kiss like you always do. You always felt like your words are never enough, so you always try to express your feeling through physical affection.
As if remembering you need your air, she slowly pulls away, her forehead touching yours as you catch your breath.
“I love you” she whispers, kissing your nose
“I love you too.” You smiled, pecking her lips
Your moment was then ruined when Emmett started banging his fists on the door, loudly exclaiming that you all have to get ready for school. You growled lowly, rolling your eyes.
“Alright! Geez.” You grumpily picked up the book that was tossed to the floor before walking to Alice’s closet where you also keep some of your clothes in...
Only to see that they weren’t there.
“Uhm Alice? Darling? Where are my clothes?” You ask her
She walks to where you are, peeking in slightly before pecking your lips.
“Oops. Accidentally sent all them to your house. Guess you have to wear my clothes then.” She smirked at you, pulling out a lemon yellow trench coat, a rosy pink turtleneck and hot pink pants with a blue belt.
“Baby, Alice. Love. Darling. Bumblebee. Please don’t do this to me.” You pleaded but she just shook her head, handing you the clothes before threatening you with no kisses and cuddles for a week if you refuse.
Your shoulders sag with defeat as you change into the clothes Alice gave you, pouting while walking down the stairs of the Cullen Household. Alice smiles brightly as she hooked her arm around yours. Chuckles and giggles erupted the moment they saw you which made you grumble and murmur underneath your breath as you sip your cup of coffee made by Esme.
“You-”
“Not a word.” You growled out, blushing furiously as you laughing girlfriend holds your hand while walking through the halls of Forks High school.
Your girlfriend can be annoying at times, add that to her chaotic family, but you would never trade it for anything. Ever.

“crushed”
Sam and Deena are completely oblivious that their feelings are mutual, especially when Sam thinks Deena and Kate are together and Peter enters the picture.
pairing: samantha “sam” fraser x deena johnson / media: fear street trilogy
genre: friends to lovers, angst with hurt/comfort & fluff / word count: 2.6k / rating: pg-13 / warnings: bullying, a bit of swearing
a/n: so this is an au where deena and sam aren’t exes so sam never left shadyside (& kate isn’t all “screw ur ex” ya know). also kate is bi and no one dies. this is based mainly off 1994 (since 1666 hasn’t come out yet haha). please lmk if you like this & want more fear street fics from me. enjoy! :)
"I still can't believe you're dating a Sunnyvaler," Kate said, popping a potato chip into her mouth.
"Doesn't that totally go against the rules of this town?" Simon chimed in, stealing a tater tot from Sam's lunch tray.
"Oh, please," Sam scoffed, swatting Simon's hand away as he reached for a second piece. "He's actually a nice guy if you got to know him."
"Since when has the star quarterback ever been a nice guy?" Kate replied, earning a raised eyebrow from Simon. "Look, just because I cheer for them doesn't mean I like them."
The stiff wooden table rattled as Deena dropped into a seat across from Sam and next to Kate. She tried to pull her bomber jacket around herself quickly--
"New shirt?" Kate asked.
--but she wasn't quick enough.
"No," Deena sighed, letting the jacket hang open to expose a black, skin-tight tank top underneath. It used to be her favorite, previously baggy in all the right places, but it returned from her last laundry day one-size-too-small. "It just shrunk in the wash and I was running late." She kept her eyes down, focused on the unappetizing cafeteria food in front of her.
Kate eyed her for a moment, then looked over at Sam, who was practically drooling over this new shirt that provided a perfect V-shaped view from where she was sitting.
"I know you're not a fan of tight clothes," Kate countered, "but it looks nice on you. Makes your boobs look amazing."
Deena playfully elbowed Kate's arm, a small smile brightening her downcast expression.
Sam watched the two girls as it unfolded - the low-cut shirt, the raised eyebrows from Kate as she scanned Deena's body, the laughter following her joking shove. Had she imagined the flickers of lighthearted tension between them? She averted her gaze, envy bubbling up in her throat. She pulled her tucked hair out from behind her ears to cover the burning, red blush she felt building there.
"So, what were you guys talking about?" Deena asked, insecurity still swimming in her mind despite Kate's compliment. She looked up at Sam, who appeared to be too interested in her tater tots to hear the shirt dilemma. Although she was somewhat relieved, she felt a pang of disappointment at Sam's disinterest; she was the only person Deena had hoped would look at her.
"Sam's got a new boyfriend," Simon answered, his voice half-muffled by a mouthful of dull-brown burger, oblivious to the sideways glances being thrown around the table.
"And he's from Sunnyvale," Kate added, spitting out the town name as though it tasted worse than the school lunch.
"What? Isn't that, like, against town law or something?"
"That's what I'm saying!" Simon accidentally spewed small chunks of meat on his tray in the midst of his excitement.
"What's his name?" Deena covered herself with her jacket again.
"Peter."
"Peter? Oh, come on, you could've at least picked a guy who didn't have a basic name," Simon rolled his eyes, as if 'Simon' was the most unique name on the planet.
"Honestly, yeah, kinda sounds a little too basic," Deena said, her eyebrows furrowed. She felt a heat tightening within her chest. She was angry at herself, at Sam, at the world.
"I'm not making him up, if that's what you're suggesting." Sam cast a glare across the table, but it didn't stop them.
"Which Peter? I mean, there's Peter Williams, Peter Anderson, Peter Moore..." Simon counted along on his fingers.
"Oh, no," Deena interrupted, a smirk pulling her lips. "He goes to another school. You wouldn't know him."
The two threw their heads back and laughed. Deena felt the fury in her chest loosen slightly, a bit of relief found in the pain she caused others. It was her defense mechanism: when the world turns to shit, you act even worse - that's how you survive.
Sam was on her feet, her eyes full of tears and frustration. "His name's Peter Brody, and he's number 29 on the Sunnyvale football team, and he's actually a good fucking guy, unlike you." Her eyes narrowed, focusing on Deena, who suddenly didn't find the whole thing all that funny anymore.
And with that, Sam picked up her lunch tray, turned on her heel, and walked out of the cafeteria.
***
Monday dragged on, every class seeming longer than usual for both Sam and Deena as they sat in separate silences. Though apart, they each felt the same waves of guilt, anger, and sadness wash over them in cycles as clocks ticked their way to the end of the school day.
Deena was walking out of band practice, which had only extended her already-exhausting day, when she spotted a familiar head of blonde leaning against the cinder-block wall across the hallway.
"Hey," Sam said, reaching her hand out slightly. Her hair was tied back, adorned with an azure bow, and she wore her cheerleading uniform to match.
Deena stopped as guilt flooded her lungs once again. "Hey," she replied in a whisper muffled by her emotions.
"I just got out of practice. Want to walk together?"
Deena could tell Sam was lying. Kate normally waited with her, and they would both be shiny with sweat. The water bottle in Sam's hand was almost empty, meaning she had likely been waiting for quite a while.
Deena nodded, and they started to make their way towards the exit that led to the student lot.
"I just wanted to say sorry," Sam began, "for earlier. It was pretty shitty of me to say that."
"Yeah, but I was being shitty, too." Deena pushed open the heavy, navy-blue door. Sunlight blinded both of them. "I just can't believe you'd get a boyfriend and not tell me."
Sam stayed silent, unable to come up with a reply. Deena had been the first person she wanted to tell, but Kate saw Peter grab her ass after last weekend's game, and suddenly her boyfriend was all anyone could talk about. Sam didn't even know why she had agreed to go out with him in the first place. Everyone had said it must've been a prank, because why else would a Sunnyvaler date a Shadysider? Something about the whole relationship gave Sam a twinge of nausea if she thought about it too much, so she just tried not to think about it.
But she had wanted to tell Deena. She had wanted to see if she would be even a little jealous at the idea of her having a boyfriend. It just hadn't played out that way.
"See you tomorrow?" Sam said, stopping at the curb.
"Is your dad picking you up?" Deena looked around for the familiar, beat-up Ford that Sam's father drove, but to no avail.
"He should be here soon."
Deena knew he had a tendency to flake on his daughter, despite being the one who got custody in their divorce battle. Although Deena hated him for his neglect, she was silently, selfishly grateful that Sam didn't move to Sunnyvale with her mom. Regardless, if her dad wasn't here now, the sun would probably set before he'd remember to show up.
"Come on," Deena said. "I'll drive you home."
The drive was almost-silent. A disc played Pixies at a volume low enough to just barely understand over the sound of rumbling tires on uneven gravel. Sam's house was a bit out of the way for Deena, but as she was slowly realizing, she'd do almost anything for her.
"Thanks for the ride," Sam smiled sheepishly, pulling her backpack up from the floor. She started to open the car door, then hesitated. "Actually, wait, can I ask you something?"
Deena's heart leapt into her throat. "Shoot."
"Are you and Kate, um... like, together, at all?"
"What? No, no no no." A chuckle slipped past Deena's lips at the idea.
Sam must've thought Deena was laughing at her, because she felt her ears grow warm in embarrassment. "Oh, sorry, I just thought... I saw how you two were at lunch today and it just, I don't know. I thought you weren't telling me something." Sam looked at her sneakers, almost pristine white with the exception of faded grass stains on the toes.
"No, we're just friends, I promise. We've been best friends forever. I mean, she was there when I first got boobs, so, I mean, that's just how we are." Deena immediately cringed at that sentence. Way to make it better, dumbass, she thought.
"Oh. Okay. She just talks about you all the time to me, whenever we're at practice, you know? She'll say things like 'Damn, didn't Deena look really good today?' to me, like, all the time."
Deena let herself laugh at that. "Oh, really? Wooow. Good to know."
"I mean, from that I just kind of assumed that you guys had a thing. How could I not, right?"
Deena nodded, understanding that Kate's comments were her attempts at being a good wingman and not confessions of underlying feelings. "Kate and I both like girls, yeah, but not each other, not like that." Deena's gaze flickered over Sam's face, taking in her eyes, her ears, her lips. "Definitely not like that," she added in a soft whisper.
Sam looked up and smiled sweetly, her stare lingering for a moment too long before she returned to the moment. "Well, thanks again for the ride. See you tomorrow." She gave an adorable little wave as she stepped out of Deena's car.
"See ya," Deena replied, her stomach fluttery.
***
The days passed, and the friend group of four had returned to almost-normal. The only thing out of place happened on Friday night, after the second football game of the season. Normally, they would all grab pizza and watch a movie after the game, but this time was different.
"Peter invited me to a Sunnyvale party," Sam explained when they met in the middle of the field as the crowd started to file out. "Maybe next week?"
So Deena, Kate, and Simon ate their pizza without Sam, feeling a tangible emptiness where she would normally be.
Kate's house was on the so-called "good side" of town, where the roads had less potholes and the houses had more structure. It was the most Sunnyvale-esque part of Shadyside. Her living room was homey, with family portraits on the walls and a couch that was lived-in but not worn-out. They had rented Candyman from the town's Blockbuster, which played on Kate's boxy TV.
"I don't like this," Simon said, chewing a pepperoni slice.
Kate responded without looking at him. "The pizza or the movie?"
"Actually, I like both of those things," Simon replied with conviction. "I was talking about Sam. It feels... I don't know, lonely?"
"What are we, chopped liver?" Deena joked.
"I mean, some days you can come close to it," he teased back.
They all returned their attention to the movie, red and white light bouncing across their faces. As if on cue, there was a knock on the door at the exact moment a jump-scare flashed on-screen, causing the trio to startle.
"I'll get it," Deena offered, jumping up from her seat.
She opened the front door to reveal Sam, tears rolling down her cheeks. Her hair was slick and her blue uniform looked damp. Her arms were wrapped around herself as she shivered in the cool October air.
"What the fuck happened?" Deena stepped out of the way to let Sam in.
Simon and Kate scrambled to join them when they realized who had arrived.
"Oh my God, what happened?" Kate plucked her school cardigan off the coatrack and wrapped it around Sam's shoulders.
"Did Petey break up with you?" Simon asked. "I mean, you guys were only dating a week. It couldn't've been that serious, right?"
Kate elbowed Simon in the stomach at his insensitive comment, eliciting a pained groan from him.
Sam hugged the cardigan around herself, but moved her arms enough to reveal "IT" scribbled in black Sharpie under her cheerleading uniform's "SH".
"What the fuck?" Deena repeated, this time more to herself than Sam.
"God, those assholes really have no idea how much uniforms cost," Kate muttered.
"And they... they p-poured ice water on m-me," Sam stuttered just as Simon returned from the living room with a throw blanket. She gave him a grateful smile as she enveloped herself in it.
"C'mon, let's sit down, alright?" Kate suggested. "You want a hot cocoa?"
Sam nodded and followed Deena and Simon to the couch, while Kate split off to the kitchen.
"They poured ice water on you?" Deena asked as she sat next to Sam, a hand around her shoulders.
"Th-they got someone to hold my arms back so they c-could write 'shit' on me, and then someone came outside with a bucket, and-" A small sob came out of Sam's throat, and another tear rolled down her cheek.
Deena didn't stop herself before reaching up and wiping it away. She let her fingers stay there for a moment, unable to think clearly.
Simon stood up quietly, making a hushed excuse about helping Kate with the hot chocolate before disappearing into the kitchen.
"He's such a douchebag," Deena muttered, furious that someone would hurt such a sweet creature like Sam. "I'm so sorry. I'll kick his ass for you."
Sam chuckled at her offer. "Can I watch?"
Deena laughed softly at her response, then realized that her hand was still pressed against Sam's cheek and pulled it away. She let it fall onto her leg, but Sam reached over and rested her own hand on Deena's.
After a minute of silence, Sam had almost stopped sniffling when she spoke again. "I don't even know why I agreed to go out with him. Like, damn, he's not even that hot. I could've at least gotten played by a hot guy." Sam half-giggled at herself then sighed. "I should've seen it coming."
"Hey, it's not your fault," Deena said, placing her other hand on top of Sam's. Her hand was cold and delicate between hers, and she hoped that holding it would provide some warmth to her.
"If I'm being honest," Sam continued, "I think I only really went out with him to forget about this other crush."
"Hold up, you never told me about that. Who is it?"
Deena's obliviousness faded away as Sam looked up at her with wide eyes. The jealousy, the talk in her car, the longing that filled the space between them now - at this moment, it all clicked into place.
"Oh," Deena whispered.
"Deena," Sam spoke, hushed as she leaned forward. "Can I...?"
"Please," Deena breathed as their lips touched, soft and scared and new all at once. The thought of crossing a line beyond the point of return flashed through their minds, but it seemed as though they both wanted to push the boundaries. Sam's free hand cupped Deena's cheek shyly, as Deena squeezed her other hand between hers. They treated each other carefully, as though kissing too hard might break the other, which would be a crime worse than death.
"YES!" Kate shouted, giving Simon a high-five. Some hot chocolate spilled out of the mug in her other hand and onto the floor, but they were both too enthusiastic to care.
"Finally, you guys!" Simon ran over to them, wrapping them both in a wide hug from behind the couch as a giant grin spread on his face.
"You guys were watching?!" Deena asked. She felt her cheeks flush as she pulled away.
"Duh!" Simon answered. "We've been waiting for this!"
"Took you guys for-fucking-ever," Kate said with a smile, handing Sam her cup.
Sam held the cup up to her newly-warmed lips, courtesy of Deena, and took a sip, looking over the edge at her. Deena saw her blue eyes crinkle into a smile, and her mouth returned the sweet sentiment.

Chivalry is dead (JJK x Reader) 💜(☁️)🔞
Tumblr media
🖤 Pairing: Jeon Jungkook x Reader
🖤 Genre: CEO x Secretary AU, Fluff/Romance, Coworkers to lovers?, mild angst, Smut
🖤 Warnings: swearing, mentions of surgery, did I mention swearing, Kookster is whipped, it’s kinda cheesy, please someone get me a Jungkook like that, slow sex, gentle lovemaking, it’s nothing freaky this time, oral (f rec.) protected sex, sugary sweet live confession you might get diabetes
🖤 Summary: Jeon Jungkook was your boss. The roles were clear as day, so why did it seem so complicated?
Tumblr media
You had no idea who in the hell actually invented coffee- like who thought roasting some weird beans and spilling hot water over that stuff was a good idea? Well, whoever it was, that person could go fuck themselves royally; because first of all, that stuff tasted bitter as hell, and second of all, it made your early morning shift an absolute nightmare.
Maybe it wasn't the coffee, but the person who loved them- Jeon Jungkook. Self-proclaimed savior of his Dad's company after taking over at the mere age of 22. Now, at 25, he was a well known face in his business, with famous magazines naming him 'one to watch out for' when talking about deals and sudden decisions. He's headstrong, smart, and unbelievably good looking too.
And also an asshole.
Thats at least what your flatmate Jenny usually says whenever he's the main course of your conversations. You'd told her time and time again that he was merely this rough with you because he was stressed- yet she simply stated that you were just an angel too good for this world- and especially too good for him.
"2 Minutes late." Came his rough voice as he didn't even look up to greet you, simply tapping on the surface of his crisp white table where he expected you to put his coffee. (Black and bitter as his soul, as Jenny always said.) He nodded, hand raising to dismiss you as always, until his eyes turned downwards, spotting your scaped up knee; half-hazardly covered by a bandaid that already came off at one side due to the rush you'd been in. Sure, you could apologize now, tell him how you were late because that freaking dogwalker let a leash of one of his huskies slip, which basically ran you over like a truck considering your rather short height, but you'd found out early on that Jeon Jungkook didn't care about your stories. Yet with his still lingering stare, you felt like he'd glued you to the ground by the soles of your shoes, without his dismissal you were forced to stay right where you were. He took a sip of his black beverage before setting the cup down with a sigh, getting up to walk towards a small bathroom connected to his office. Emerging out of the room again with a couple of items in his hand, he sat down on his chair behind his laptop, turning it towards you.
He had to lean down a bit as he took off the bandaid, not even saying sorry as you hissed at the sting. You did notice however how he took it off more gently after that, as he threw it into his bin, opening the plastic bag of desinfectant wipes, before his large hand held the back of your knee, almost delicately. He began to clean the scrape, brows furrowing a bit at the view of the raw skin, thinking about how you probably ran with that all the way to his office just to not be even later. He wanted to apologize, at least give you some form of verbal reassurance that it was okay to put your own health before his goddamn coffee, but the words got stuck inside his throat as he gently placed a new, more properly sized bandaid over the wound, sighing as some red seeped through immediately. "Get that checked after work today." He simply said before getting up to put all of the items away into their proper place as you were left with still tingling skin from his touch. He turned around, looking at you with an almost bored, but soft look. "What're you standing there for? You're dismissed." He said, and you practically ran out of the office.
Tumblr media
"He wants to fuck you." Jenny simply said as she bit into her sandwich, while you were left almost spitting out your lunch. "What? That was electricity, I'm telling you! He so wants to screw you." She said, almost accusingly pointing a finger at you as she took a sip of her water, watching you.
"Stop. He only did that because he.." Oh well yeah, why did he do that? He could've simply told you to get it checked instead of taking care of it himself for that matter. But he was someone who wanted things done immediately- e rarely could wait for things to finish or to be done, so maybe he just wanted to have things more proper during your shift? Exactly. He just wanted to keep the image of his company intact- maybe even raise it by showing other employees that he cared for everyone deeply, even if he didn't. "He probably just wanted me not to look like I got scraped off the streets." You mumbled before taking a bite of your lunch, Jennies eyes rolling.
"Truth is;" She started, as she threw away her plastic waste before checking her watch, "That I still think he wants you bend over his desk." She finished, as you turned shades of pink, lowering your gaze at that. You always tried to keep those thoughts away from you, knowing how unprofessional it was. "Does he know you're leaving soon?" She asked, now a bit softer since she knew it was a touchy topic. You shook your head.
"I haven't put in my termination yet." You answered, your food suddenly looking stale. Jenny sighed, hugging your side.
"I'll buy some icecream on the way home, you're finishing later than I do I assume?" She asked, and you nodded again as a confirmation. "Alright. Let's binge on movies tonight, and have a nice weekend alright? Heads up." Came her reply as she left with a wave, to get back to her own desk in the company.
Jenny and you had met while you were waiting for your interview with Jeon to begin, and when you began to talk, you immediately hit off. You'd told her how much the driving back and forth from your old apartment to work would be, and eventually she'd decided to share her apartment with you close to the company. You were a bit hesitant at first, but eventually agreed; and it was one of your best decisions yet. The way to work was basically half an hour by foot- if it wasn't for your daily task of bringing your boss a coffee from this one specific shop downtown, almost an hour away by foot. It was okay however. Everyone had their preference.
At least you told yourself that to feel better about being Jeon Jungkooks personal slave.
Tumblr media
"You're in love with her." Jimin stated, as Jungkook almost choked on his instant ramen.
"What the fuck dude, I don't." He exclaimed in a scandalized manner, long dark hair successfully hiding the red tips of his ears. He simply furrowed his brows, chopsticks now digging in his cup as if to search for treasure, just so he didn't have to look up and meet the eyes of his very nosy friends who were sitting in his living room.
"So you only want to fuck her." Yoongi grumbled as he hit after Jimin, who'd tried to steal a peace of meat from his plate.
"Exactly- Wait no!" The young company leader corrected himself immediately. No, this wasn't just pleasure he was seeking with you- but he also denied every single clue that he was into you, romantically. After all, he'd had his fair share of romantic involvements in the past; all pathetically killing themselves royally simply because there was never true love involved. It was either for benefit, for public image, or most of the time- for his money. It was never truly just about him.
Jungkook was simply a number, nothing more. In a way, his success was mostly just a curse for his soul; he was convinced by now that everyone just wanted something from him at this point, as pathetic as it sounded. He was always just the punchline of a joke, elderly woman seeing him as a piece of meat on a richly designed table ready to be consumed- just to be spit out as soon as he'd loose flavor. It was sad really, how much he hated trusting at this point.
"Look." Namjoon started, putting down his empty cup as he sniffled from the spicy meal he'd just consumed. "As far as I know, she'd from a regular background, right?" He asked, and Jungkook nodded, slurping some noodles without paying much attention. "How long has she been working for you at this point, two years? Three years?" The younger in question nodded at three, remembering the moment you'd stepped into his office for your interview, back then with a different haircut and color, and a bit more shy than you were now. You'd found friends in coworkers, when it came to gatherings and dinners you were always missing, however. He'd never seen you at any afterparty or bithday gathering for that matter as well. "She also didn't eye you up at all during these years, right?" He asked, and Jungkook got a bit more serious as that, because his friend was right. You surely looked interested in him, but you kept it charmingly subtle- it was more like a shy glance every now and then, never to linger uncomfortably. Just like a mouse showing itself to the cat every now and then to keep the chase going without any intention to.
"Oh, did you ever pay her for buying you a new suit by the way? The one she spilled her strawberry milk on?" Jimin asked with a laugh as Jungkook shook his head.
"She didn't want it." He said, and suddenly everyone got quiet.
"She what?" Yoongi asked. "Is she stupid?" He got out before Jungkook threw him a serious glance.
"Shut up." He said through gritted teeth, as Jimin laughed and the oldest in the round threw his hands up in mocking defense. "No but.. I offered several times, but she said it was her fault. She even got mad at me when I simply put the money on her paycheck- she practically demanded me to take it back." He explained, and Namjoon nodded.
"Probably because she'd feel bad." He answered. He knew you longest and most personally out of everyone in the current gathering; he'd been in the same class back in school for a few years. And you'd always been like that- you hated being paid back favours, because you didn't want to seem like you did them just to gain something afterwards. You kept people at a safe distance, never to have them cross that line, so you could always push them away without getting seriously hurt in the process. You'd also never been in a romantic relationship for long as far as he knew- only having had one scandal back in school, where the guy you'd lost your virginity to had publicly shamed you for being 'bad in bed'. It was a mess really, and Namjoon had felt bad back then, but there was no way you'd let anyone close to you afterwards. "Look." Namjoon started, looking at the youngest. "I'd say go for it. From what I know, she's a genuine person. I'm more concerned about her in this situation than you, if I'm being honest." He said, and Jungkook looked at him scandalized.
Yoongi chimed in. "You're known to fuck around. Don't just use her as a place to throw your half-assed cumshots into, that's what he wants to say." He replied, making Jimin scrunch up his nose in distaste.
Jungkook only continued to eat in silence. You maybe had the role of the mouse in this chase- but he was a tiger waiting to be taimed.
Tumblr media
"What is this?" He asked, very unamused, and very much not pleased. It was understandable to a level- after three and a half years you'd just handed in your termination. What you did not understand however, was the amount of emotion you could spot swimming behind his eyes- he looked a bit like when he'd accidentally spilled tea over his workspace once, scared to death if that accident would mean the death of all his hard work of the day. You'd reassured him back then that everything had been saved on the main servers, so even if his laptop was to die, which it did not, everything would still be save. He could surely find a new secretary however- there was no use to make such a huge fuss over it.
"It's my termination sir. I'll be leaving at the end of this month." You answered, a bit unsure now on your spot in front of his desk, as he pushed the tip of his tongue against the inside of his cheek, a clear sign of irritation on his side.
"Thats in two weeks, Y/N." He stated, and you nodded. "As a reason you stated 'health issues'. Is there something I should be worried about?" He asked, and you swallowed, hard.
"Is it uhm.. do I need to answer-" You began, but he cut you off with a stern voice.
"You don't have to, but I'd have to decline the termination if I don't see the reasoning as fit to be taken seriously under such short notice." He began, putting down the papers as he suddenly looked at you more intensely. "We have clear rules here Y/N, I thought you knew them by now. Vacation requests three weeks prior, and terminations as well, except for important reasons." He said, and you looked down.
"I'll be having an operation that can't be pushed anymore soon sir, and I fear I won't be able to meet your standards afterwards. Which is why I'm terminating my contract." You stated, and you swore you could see a flash of concern in his gaze as he nodded.
"Is there anything I can help you with, in preparation for that?" He asked, now shifting his interest on his laptop screen again, typing something as you got confused.
"Pardon sir?" You asked, and he clicked a few times on his touchbad, seemingly searching for something before he turned his attention back onto you.
"Your severance pay will be quite high due to the quality and timespan you've worked here. I want to make sure however, that you're taken care of personally as well, if you'd let me." He said, in such a manner that you felt like he was actually growing a bit self-conscious.
"I uhm.. I will stay at the hospital for a while to recover, and afterwards I guess I'll be fine on my own. It's really fine sir, I don't uhm.. you don't need to do anything really." You said, before sending a smile his way, trying hard not to think of this chapter as finished. Your eyes already stung at the realization that you'd be leaving this comfortable environment soon. It may seemed childish for someone else, but you considered this place a second home- everything was familiar, every routine saved into the memory of your bones, it was your comfort to work here. "I uhm.. I really enjoyed working here." You finished, as Jungkook took a closer look at you.
He seemed to think about something, before he carefully stood up, slowly walking over towards you. For the first time he didn't look detached or as if he needed to do something; his gaze was soft and gentle, and it made it so much harder not to be a crybaby in this situation. You'd always thought that he merely saw you as a secretary, but this situation, as normal as it seemed, felt so intimate. "I'm glad." He simply said, slightly opening his arms to give you the option to take or not to take his invitation for a hug.
You would've been a fool not to. After all, Jungkook wasn't a physically affectionate person- he hated the act of merely shaking hands with a passion, he'd once told you.
"Will you tell me what exactly it is?" He asked, voice so much richer and deeper now that the side of your face was leaning against his chest, head growing dizzy from his presence. You could smell his faint cologne and a fabric softener similar to the one you used- again showing you that he preferred to wash his clothes himself rather than letting others do it for him. "You don't have to, but you have me worried." He simply said, now detaching himself from you hesitantly as he saw some coworkers outside the office staring. He didn't want to make you the talk of town now, only weeks before leaving. Rumors could be aggressive, after all.
"I uhm.." You started, sniffling a bit as you sat down in front of his workdesk. "I'll have a surgery on my knee, since I take a lot of medication for the pain now, and I kinda don't want that anymore so.." You explained to him, as his brows furrowed.
"Why didn't you say anything? I wouldn't have let you work so hard if I'd known you were in pain." He said, almost with a whine, which made you smile a bit in return. You waved him off, however.
"No no, it's fine really. I keep stuff like that to myself anyways." You admitted, and he thought for a moment, before he decided, no.
He wouldn't keep you working just so he could benefit from seeing you. That would be selfish- and he didn't want to be like that. Not with you, at least. He screwed up his chance, and that was okay; he'd had all the time to ask you out, to get closer with you, after all. Maybe it was simply karma. "Take those two weeks off. Don't worry, it won't affect your payment in any form- you'll need to take your vacation time anyways, or I'll get a slap on my hands for not letting you have freetime." He simply said, as you nodded. "Dismissed." He said, in his usual tone.
This time, it made you smile, as you nodded, stood up and walked towards the door. "Y/N." He said from his desk, not looking up. "I really enjoyed having you here." He mumbled, and you grinned, nodding, before leaving the office- and the building alltogether.
Tumblr media
"Still can't believe you haven't hired anyone else yet." Jimin accused,as he drank his soju across from Jungkook, who'd simply shrugged. It's been two months by now, and he still refused to let any secretary work as closely with him as you did before. He rather got up a bit earlier and got his morning coffee himself instead of telling anyone to do so; it was as if that was reserved to you. It wasn't the act of having you bring him his coffee like a personal assistand; it was more the fact that he got to see you first thing in the morning. In a weird way, he didn't want to see anyone so early apart form you- he was simply too grumpy for that. "What about Hannah?" He asked, and Jungkook shook his head. Hannah was a promising candidate for the role of a future girlfriend- he really liked her. But there was no romantic spark between the two, and when she'd looked at him almost as if he'd ate her dog when he'd told the waiter to split the bill of their shared dinner, he knew that it wouldn't work out. She'd been so sure that he would simply pay for everything that he had to pay the entire thing- because she didn't even carry her purse with her. "Another piranha, I see."
Namjoon came into the room, several take out boxes in hand. "What're you talking about?" He asked, and Jimin chuckled.
"Jungkookies nonexistent sex-life." He said, before getting hit with a spoon from the younger one.
"Oh, interesting actually-" He began, putting down the food before sitting down himself. "Just saw Y/N-" He started, but Jungkook, almost chomically, cut him off.
"Did she look okay? Was she alright?" He asked, and Namjoon laughed for a second before taking some chopsticks for himself, breaking them apart and making Jimin laugh when they broke the wrong way.
"She seemed okay. Walked without help, but seemed a bit wobbly still." He explained, and Jungkook nodded. "My dad said she's gonna be alright, but it's gonna take a while since she waited so long to get it done-" Suddenly, Jungkook coughed.
"Your DAD did the surgery on her?!" He yelled out, making his dog bark as if alerted, as Namjoon became wide-eyed.
"Yeah, I mean, didn't I tell you.?" He began, but Jungkook shook his head, still heavily irritated.
"No, you did not!" He began, before letting himself fall into the couch defeatedly, whining. "I could've sent her flowers or some other shit, now I fucked it up!" He exclaimed to no one in particular, his dog jumping onto his lap.
"And they say chivalry is dead." Jimin said, playfully wiggling his eyebrows as Namjoon shot him a look to shut him up.
"You can still do that though?" He asked, and Jungkook furrowed his brows.
"No, that's just.. weird. Like, imagine getting flowers from your boss MONTHS after you quit." He said, before huffing like a child. "I screwed it up, its fine." He mumbled, before Namjoon continued.
"I mean, she asked about you though.." He hummed, taking a bite of his food.
"She did what?!" Both Jimin and Jungkook asked in disbelief.
"She asked about you. How you were doing, you know, that stuff." He explained, before continuing. "Told her you fuck around, she left after that." He said, shrugging his shoulders as Jungkook yelled furiously.
"You did what?! Namjoon, what the fuck-" He started, almost tearing up before the elder one laughed. "Not funny." Jungkook commented, clearly unamused by the humor in Namjoons face.
"Sorry." He said, putting down his chopsticks. "No, but for real, she actually told me to tell you she didn't change her number or anything so.."
Jungkook looked at him quesitoningly. "So?" He asked, and Jimin groaned.
"What the fuck, is she supposed to lay on your doorstep with her legs spread out while telling you 'Oh hey come inside and make yourself at home' for you to get the message?" A grumpy Yoongi groaned out as he walked into the living room, greeting the dog. "She basically told Namjoon to tell you she wants to sit on your dick." He said, stealing a dumpling from Jimin as he took off his jacket.
"She did not-" Namjoon started, before turning to the youngest again. "But she basically did say you should message her."
"To make up a date to fuck each other!" Yoongi yelled from the kitchen. Jungkook groaned.
"I mean I do have her number.." He mumbled, and suddenly a hand was on his shoulder as the eldest came back, a glass of water in his hands.
"Then go get pussy." He said, and everyone laughed.
Everyone but the young man in question.
Tumblr media
"You uh.. sorry its nothing special but you said you wanted something not fancy so.." He said, as he pulled out the chair as you sat down.
"No no, its fine. I like this." You answered, now a bit shy with him sitting in front of you- all casual and not at all in the regular environment you both met in. He wore a simple black button up, ripped jeans- clothes that were so.. regular, yet he made them look so expensive. Maybe it was how his body was proportioned, with long legs and a broad chest, or maybe it was simply the way he carried himself.
"You look really nice." He casually complimented, as you blushed a bit, unfamiliar with such compliments as he smiled at your reaction, licking his lips almost impishly.
He would've been a bit more shy if it wasn't for the several conversations over the phone you both have had in the past couple of days; your answers and innuendos making it clear that you were genuinely interested in him, on a higher level than just 'hit and run'. No, you'd asked about his dog when he'd sent you a picture of him, you'd wanted to know about his family, or what he did in his freetime- you both even played several rounds of overwatch together when you'd revealed to him that you play the game as well.
It made him feel confident.
Another reason he was so adamant on making sure his impression on you was the best was that you'd openly talked about your, admittedly shitty ex partners, giving him even more reason to treat you the best he could think of.
You felt a bit weird.
Not a bad weird, but a.. tingling weird. This kind of weird where you don't know where to put your hands because wherever you began to rest them your mind thought about if it looked weird. It made you feel like a kid waiting to finally be let loose on a playground. You felt so comfortable with him, that it was important for you to make a good impression on him. So when the waitress came back after you both ate a bite, you began to search for your wallet, as he smiled at you, his larger hand covering yours in a manner that told you he'd pay. "All on me." He simply said, as he payed, making you pout a bit.
Walking outside, he made sure that you were comfortable with him walking you home before walking side by side with you, never too close to not pressure you. After a moment, you began to speak. "I could've payed, you know-" You started, but he cut you off with a question.
"Why won't you call me by my name?" He asked, and you began to chew on your lip. There was no specific reason you could think of that would make sense to him. It just felt like you'd let him in if you were to say his name out loud. It was a taboo thing to call your superior by his first name, but that had been the past. Now it would mean that you were considering him your friend. Or maybe even.. more. "Do I make you uncomfortable?" He asked, and you shook your head immediately.
"No, its just.." You started, trying to think of something.
"Don't make something up now just for me. I promise I won't be offended; just be honest." He said, and you nodded.
"I'm not someone who, you know, lets people get close to me, normally." You explained, before you continued after he'd nodded, telling you wordlessly that he was following your words. "It just seems.. so intimate, if that makes sense?" Against what you'd expected however, he simply continued his gentle smile.
"That's okay. You don't have to love me right away." He offered, looking down at you with a smile. "Say it when you feel like it. We'll do whatever is comfortable with you." He offered, and you smiled.
Tumblr media
"So you both did not, in fact, fuck each other." Jenny said, as she ate another spoonful of icecream.
"No, we did not." You said, and smiled a bit at the memory. Jenny had just gotten back from her business trip; a week full of torture as she'd called it. "We simply talked and he brought me home every day." You explained, and your friend fake-gagged playfully at that.
"Oh god, someone get me a grater for all that cheese!" She laughed, as she suddenly smiled a bit more seriously. "No but really, I'm happy. He seems nice." She said, and you nodded.
"He does."
Tumblr media
"Do you treat everyone like me?" You'd asked one night as you shared takeout with Jungkook in his living room, having agreed to meet up at his place.
He shook his head. "Not to that extend, no. But I learned from my dad was common chivalry is- it's not that deep to be honest." He explained, as he continued eating. He looked so young like this; merely wearing a sweater and sweatpants combo, hair a bit unruled and piercings on full display. With all that business on his shoulders, one could easily forget that he was just a young man, even if he did turn 26 recently.
"Its not common, though." You commented, and he shrugged his shoulders, leaning back against the couch as he finished his meal.
"Do you want to take my bed or the couch?" He asked after a moment, after you'd finished your meal as well. You shrugged. "Then we'll sleep together." He playfully said, but got a bit shy after you'd simply nodded, not having noticed that he didn't truly mean his statement. No taking it back now though.
"Are you tired?" You asked, wondering if that was why he'd brought up the question. Jungkook was an honest guy, so he affirmed.
"A bit, honestly. Sorry." He said, but you shook your head, already picking up the empty containers and plastic bags to throw them away.
"It's fine." You simply said, as he nodded, his gaze following you for a moment before he opened the door to his backyard, ushering his dog to go out to finish his business before bedtime.
You knew you should feel at least a bit nervous, after all you'd be sharing a bed with him. But for some reason you weren't- even if something was to happen, you felt comfortable with him- enough to trust you at your most vulnerable state. At this point he'd already sneaked his way around your made up walls, way too close now to be let go off without pulling on your skin painfully at the same time. Hurting him would hurt you now- so you had simply accepted the fact that he was going to stay at your side for as long as he saw fit.
"Alright, bedtime mister." He said, leading the dog to its bed by the front door- a place his pet had chosen willingly, he once told you. "Goodnight." He mumbled, gently petting his companions head before he made his way inside his bedroom, where you followed. He closed the door quietly, turning on a small lamp on his bedside desk, before opening a window. "I like to sleep with the window open, hope you don't mind." He said, as you shook your head. You simply got into the bed after him, your way of trying to find out which side he preferred as you slipped under the covers, the smell of his by now familiar fabric softener, and distinctively his smell flooding your senses. His mattress was soft, way softer than yours at home- but it was probably worth several months worth of rent as well.
"I uh.." he suddenly said, low voice cutting through the silence after he'd turned off the lights, darkness swallowing the room fully. "I have a habit of, uhm.. undressing myself during the night so. Just to warn you." He said, before groaning a bit. "Oh god that came of kind of creepy, sorry-" But you simply laughed.
"It's okay. I hug things when I sleep, so I'll probably latch onto you during the night." You admitted, and he chuckled.
"Oh I don't mind that at all." He hummed, as you felt him turn over, probably to face you as your suspicions were confirmed when a finger almost shyly brushed over your bare arm. He was silently testing the waters, trying to find out if you were comfortable enough with him to let him go that far. To his surprise you reacted by scooting closer towards him, until your nose was close to his. He couldn't quite see you, only able to make out rough outlines as the moon wasn't shining at all outside his apartment. "Is that okay?" He asked, in a whisper, careful as if he didn't want to scare you away. He felt you nod as his hand went to lay down on your cheek, thumb finding your lower lip as he guided his onto yours, slow, as if he was only testing the waters yet.
Always so considerate.
You slowly deepened the kiss, a bit hesitant since it has been a while you'd ever kissed someone; but he took the lead after noticing you accepting his gesture, his tongue gently asking for entrance as you granted his wish, making him close his eyes as he lazily continued kissing you, his desire taking over.
Everything was slow, comfortable, and warm- the way he slowly moved to lean over you, the way his hands roamed over your body underneath your clothes. It was as if you both knew eachother already, as if you didn't need to hurry anything at all. And it was true.
He slowly undressed himself, before directing his attention towards you, helping you out of your clothes as well, careful to leave the covers over his body, as if to shield you from the chilly air coming inside from the opened window. He truly enjoyed every second, every inch of skin he laid bare of you, as his head dipped downwards, placing open mouthed kisses against your neck and collarbone as his hand gently ran over your chest, squeezing the soft flesh or a moment before his thumb grazed over the hardened nipple, making you squirm underneath him. You felt torn between a feeling of being worshipped almost, and the frustration of him going so slow. Every past sexual encounter had always been straight to the point- this was entirely new territory.
"We got time darling." He hummed suddenly amused as you began to squirm more underneath his touch. You felt his hard on against your inner thigh clear as day, yet he seemed to absolutely not notice it; his attention more so on you, as he suddenly moved underneath the covers, shaking his head a bit to get his long hair out of his eyes, piercings jingling brightly at his sudden movement before he dipped downwards, making you gasp as you felt his tongue on your center. He chuckled again as his hands held down your lower belly, keeping your hips down and legs open for him as he sucked and swallowed, making you whine at the feeling. This was the first time someone had ever gone down on you, and it made you feel absolutely incredible.
Jungkook moved again as you became close to your orgasm, hands fumbling around for a moment until he found in his drawer what he'd searched for; the crinkling sound of the foil package filling the room as you still breathed heavily. He rolled the condom over his length before he moved over you again, cooing at the cold feel of your damp skin, sweat making your body cool down rapidly. "Are you cold?" He asked, and you nodded, but held out your arms, desperate to have him close to you again. "Let me warm you up." He hummed lowly, pulling the covers over his back again before he led his cock into your core with the help of his hand, groaning at the feel of your warm walls welcoming him inside. He moved after a moment, kissing you again as if he needed to confirm that this was truly happening. "You feel like home darling." He whispered out of breath as he slowly moved a bit faster, your hands searching for his as he helped you find them, fingers intertwining as he felt his soul grow fond. He loved you, he truly did, and in that moment he realized it to the full extend. It was the same for you as he kissed your neck, hot breath against your skin making you feel protected and adored as he picked up his pace, thrusts becoming more erratic as he suddenly pushed himself inside you in one swift move, hand leaving yours to desperately move over your pearl, making your back arch off the mattress as you whined in pleasure, throwing him off the edge as well as he spilled inside the condom.
His forehead rested against your shoulder as he chuckled, slowly slipping out of you as you laughed along with him.
"I swear that was not my intention when I said we'd sleep together." He said, and you laughed a bit harder at that, kissing the side of his jaw affectionately as he kissed your neck. "I love you. I really do."
"That's okay." you said still a bit out of breath, and he wished you could've seen the bright smile he sported at your next words.
"I love you too, Jungkook."

Quiet in the Library!
I think I lived out a kink-scenario again completely on accident today (note, this was written a couple of days before posting due to a busy schedule).
My area is currently experiencing an unprecedented heat wave. We're normally a colder climate so built-in AC units are not a thing in our area. Older houses come with ways to heat one's house, but nothing to cool it down because our climate is normally either cold or freezing. On my day off from work I decided that I wanted to go out somewhere with AC to kill time. I had some stuff I needed to work on and some things I needed to print off so I made plans to head to a public library and work/chill for a couple of hours.
I discussed my plan with family members. Some family members are going through medical treatments and stuff, so the entire household has been wary of going outside and potentially bringing germs and other stuff back home with them. I'd be going out for "recreational" purposes. We have a printer at home but it is only connected to someone else's desktop...so if I absolutely had to print something off I'd have to hop onto that computer...which I have done in the past...so the library trip was more for the idea of spending a couple of hours in a building with AC going. I wanted to let family know of my plans so that they wouldn't plan for me to be at home...and also offered the idea of someone tagging along with me if they wanted to beat the heat in the library too.
Turns out someone else was toying with the idea of going on a grocery run but they were on the fence because of the heat wave. I suggested that I'd tag along with them on the grocery trip, help them carry items and all, and then they could drop me off at the library and save me one trip on transit...I'd take transit home when I was ready. With that plan, I suggested that we eat breakfast at home because I had plans to buy lunch outside while on my library trip and I did not want to have to buy or eat two fast-food meals in one day. This was all discussed the night before my day off, fyi.
Plan made, upon waking up we worked together to put breakfast on the table. Unfortunately, my first task upon waking was to chug some ice-cold water out of the fridge. It was hot and I was sweating not even 10 minutes after waking up. The shock of cold water so soon after waking gave me cramps. Imagine how you'd react to being rudely woken up by someone dumping a bucket of ice-water on you...yeah, that's exactly how my stomach reacted. I hid in my room, doubled over with cramps, and left the rest of breakfast prep to family members.
Something went wrong with breakfast, apparently, that resulted in half of the food being inedible so I ended up eating about three mouthfuls of food and leaving the rest for other family members. The spoiled breakfast put other family in a bad mood so they reneged on our plans. Timing-wise, it resulted in a mad dash to the bus stop for me after swallowing my third mouthful of food because I had decided I'd be in the library today. The little food I had eaten was only barely enough to whet my appetite and my stomach was grumbling and snarling for more by the time I reached the bus stop. I rubbed my tummy a little to try to calm it because part of it was still griping over the ice-wakening.
When I got to the area with the library, I had a choice to make: walk further in the heat, by-pass the library, to find food at a nearby food-court first...or hit the library as intended, spend a few hours there, and then search for food hours later. The heat made my decision for me...looking for food first would have resulted in double the amount of walking in the heat because I'd be bypassing the library only to return to it after getting food. My stomach had calmed down on the bus ride (thanks to some discreet tummy rubs) and was no longer grumbling at me.
I hunkered down in the library with my earbuds in. It's been over a year since I set foot in a library due to the pandemic shutting them down for in-person services. I missed this. My favorite thing to do in the summer in previous years was to bring my laptop to a library and enjoy the ambience and the air-conditioning. It doesn't cost anything but transit fare so I did this often before the pandemic hit. I was enjoying myself. I felt a little self-conscious though because people that walked by my table gave me strange looks...and I don't know why. I had my mask on, other people at other tables were doing the same as I--had their laptops out and were working on Word-Processing documents. I'm at the age where I can totally blend in as a post-secondary student...so I couldn't fathom why I was getting strange looks and I kept on checking if my hair was out of place or if I had something on my clothes.
When I wrapped up my work, I shut down my computer and pulled by earbuds out...that's when I realized that the rumbling I felt throughout my three hours at the library was not due to my music being too loud. The grumbles had come back with a vengeance and apparently had been going for at least two and a half hours. Something about tables always seems to act as an echo chamber for stomach growls and these ones were audible...so...yeah...my best guess as to why people were giving me odd looks: my tummy was growling and they heard it.
To add to my embarrassment, a stunningly attractive person was in the table behind me. There was no way he didn't hear my growling tummy. I packed up, printed off my stuff, and left the library in a rush in order to spare myself further embarrassment.
Onto food. I stopped by a nearby convenience store to hunt for drinks. Pro-tip when eating at a food court or going to the movies or something: drinks and snacks are cheaper if you get them from a grocer or a convenience store or something than if you were to get them at the food court or theatre. I know, it's bad to do that to a theatre, but most of the people I know working in theatres tell me that they don't mind if you bring outside food as long as you don't leave evidence...don't throw out your own wrappers and zipper bags in their trash bins and don't leave bottled drinks and stuff lying around. You shouldn't do that sort of thing if you bought concessions at the theatre either...but yeah.
The convenience store here almost always has a "3 for $5" sale on drinks...it's just a matter of which brand/flavors are on sale when I go. I lucked out and it was on 500mL bottles of lemonade that day...so I trudged over to the food court carrying 1.5 litres of drinks. I was hungry and it was hot, so I ended up buying some of those premade sushi platters. It wasn't a big one...8 pieces or so. I bought a small bento box as well that basically just had some meat on top of the rice and a side of vegetables. I was hungry, so I was sure that this amount of food was alright for me to finish in one sitting. In previous trips I'd bought a 2-item large bento and the same sushi platter...I'd be able to finish the bento and maybe eat 2 of the rolls before being full in previous trips, so I was sure that what I had bought would fit comfortably in my stomach.
I forgot to factor in thirst. It was a hot day and all, so I ended up drinking more lemonade than I otherwise would have. I drank 2 of the bottles during my meal...so an entire litre of drink went into my stomach along with the food. By the end of my meal all that was left on my plate was one roll from the sushi platter. I brought it to my lips but my stomach definitely didn't want it and it was too hard to swallow.
My gut was packed. The litre of lemonade (as well as about half a cup worth of water from a waterbottle) filled up my tummy and brought me to 'stuffed' rather than simply 'full', The food alone would have comfortably brought me to 'full' as I usually only have my waterbottle with me for meals so I don't drink too much.
I was wearing a loose button-up shirt over top of a camisole and pants that day. The clothes were very flattering and highlighted my slimmer waist. I've got a higher BMI than is considered normal/healthy...but my figure is basically on the bigger end of average rather than into full blown obese territory...and most of my fat distribution goes toward my bust, arms, and thighs so my stomach was flat in those clothes. Not after lunch, that's for sure.
My stuffed tummy was aching, stretched and fit to bursting. The glut of food and drink had rounded out my stomach and I was immensely glad for the loose button-up hiding the evidence. I sat at the table for a while, unwilling and unable to stand up because my stomach felt so heavy and there was pressure at the base of my esophagus from all the food. I was terrified that I'd throw up if I moved and jostled my tummy. I spent a few minutes discreetly rubbing my tummy under the table as I flipped through headlines on my phone. I wasn't paying attention to my phone, mentally begging my stomach to start digesting so that I could finally move.
When I finally got up, I opted to walk around the mall for a bit in hopes of coaxing faster digestion. My stomach churned and sloshed the whole time. Surprisingly, there wasn't really any gas in my guts. It was all liquid and solid food. The rice must have absorbed some of the liquid because everything felt like it had swelled up inside of my belly. The stretch was intense. Thanks to my clothes, I felt like some of those "surprise inspection" fanarts I've seen floating around. If I had a partner and a discreet/private setting, I wouldn't have minded playing out a "surprise inspection" scenario. I was alone in public and terribly shy and embarrassed about my tummy though. If anyone tried to press their palm into my tummy at that moment I'm sure I would have been embarrassed and that I would have thrown up from all of the pressure in and on my tummy. I was stuffed to the point it hurt--my stomach felt like it was on the verge of a rupture.

wAIT and here’s some explanations
Hannibal :
- I mean it’s pretty obvious why he’s up there he’s a god at cooking
- just don’t ask where he gets his meats cause he gives you this really weird smile and side glance before giving a super cryptic answer
- but the salad was good so it’s cool
Ash Williams :
- this man was BORN to cook
- attachable hand parts means he can make an attachable knife extension for his hand and that makes chopping shit 50000% faster. not only that, he now has an excuse to wear his “kiss the cook” apron he found again recently
- the attachment possibilities are endless- spatulas, knifes, spoons, shut maybe even a PAN if you’re feelin REALLY fuckin wild-
Bubba Sawyer :
- his momma def taught him how to cook No I Don’t Take Constructive Criticism
- he’s the master at grilling tho since it’s more of his element, but unlike Hannibal if you ask where the meats came from he’ll just straight up point to the body part of the person and move on with his task of grilling his good ass BBQ
Candyman :
- I mean he cooks well cause he’s a refined gentleman whom likes anything artistic, so Of Course he taught himself how to cook
- doesn’t do it v often but still likes it a lot even tho for some reason, no matter the circumstance, he always manages to burn the bread in the toaster
- damned 21st century technology (his best element is a gas stove since it’s what he’s used to)
Thomas Hewitt :
- v v good at making like a few dishes hearty dishes in particular but can’t really do much else besides those???
- likes to mix it up sometimes with experimentation if he has the time or patience but most of the time he just leaves it to Momma
Stu Matcher :
- his parents are barely ever home because of work so like he usually ends up eating boxed macaroni or frozen pizzas if there aren’t any leftovers in the fridge or, his personal favorite, hot dogs
- he usually just invites billy over for takeout tho so they can spend time together and billy doesn’t have to be around his dad
Jason Vorhees :
- the guy may not have to eat but he misses his momma’s cooking okAY-
- he’ll bust out the cookbook with her own little annotations sometimes just to try and replicate it for nostalgias sake, and even though he can’t really get all the ingredients, he’s gotten really good at remaking some of his personal favorites
- it’s not really the same though, not how he remembers at least
Chromeskull :
- I mean he can kinda cook but like barely though since he has other people to do it for him since he’s ✨rich✨ and stuff
- he can follow box instructions and make grilled cheese with an iron tho if that counts
Billy Loomis :
- can’t cook to save his life but knows how to make boxed macaroni
- he would be a pretty good cook if he had the patience to go through the process of learning
- but his tolerance is so thin that he just says “fuck it” as soon as shit hits the fan and leaves to go to Stu’s house for takeout
Vincent Sinclair :
- surprisingly he actually doesn’t do most of the cooking since him and Bo just eat fast food or sometimes cooked stuff if one of them is feeling up to it
- but he knows how to make a few things and actually knows how to modify recipes to make them better based on deduction and shit like that
- kinda lost on what to do tho so it’s best just to give him a task if you need help
Asa Emory :
- two words: microwaveable lunches
- my G got this shit down to a T on when it’s the right time to take them out, how long it takes to cool down, what cool down applies to what food- he’s basically got everything memorized since he eats them so much
- they’re quick and don’t waste his time, so it’s good enough to him
Bo Sinclair :
- no. fuck no.
- there’s no way in hell hes walking in there- he’s not even all that terrible at cooking but he has this weird habit of setting things WAY to high on the guise that they’ll cook faster, but he gets sidetracked so easily that they burn and he gets pissed off halfway through
- the best course of action is to just avoid that shit show all together and let him eat his sandwich meat and shredded cheese at 3 am in peace
Brahms Hellshire :
- good fucking god- having this oversized man-child in the room while you’re preparing food is like having one of those annoying as dogs who are always at your feet when they smell food
- he’s all up under you for pieces and bits of what you’re cooking and Does Not Stop until you give him what he wants
- and good luck giving him tasks to do to keep him busy, the ass is just gonna drop it and leave if he gets bored or get sidetracked with something else pretty quickly since he doesn’t like labor
Billy :
- what the FUCK is a stove and why are you putting the meat on there
- wait,,, you’re supposed to eat that meat while it’s COOKED? :000 what the hell, can he have some too then? he’s so used to just eating everything by itself since like no one cooked for him as a kid that he just consumes all that’s in sight and moves on like a little rat
- you can give this man an entire piece of raw chicken and he will eat it in front of you like it’s normal cause he’s That Kinda Bitch
Michael Myers :
- y’all sayin this dude is good at chopping and stuff on the assumption that he would willingly cook or enter a kitchen for anything labor intensive in the first place
- like yeah you’re doing great with making that brisket but there’s no way in hell hes chopping those carrots for you
- and yes he’s still eating some, try and stop his 6’7” ass. go ahead, he’s waiting. that’s what he thought now move he’s hungry
Freddy Krueger :
- no, no no no. he’s going to burn the house down if you leave him to his own devices. and not unintentionally. he will burn down the house and the food will be burnt and charred and inedible
- leaving him to just watch over it will result in a worldwide catastrophe, it’s best to just keep him OUT of the kitchen no matter how much he begs you for pieces of what you’re making or steals parts of your ingredients
- the spray bottle will resolve that now resist and keep him OUT

Tw mentions of bl00dw0rk medical and f@st1ng
So I haven’t taken an allergy pill since like last Wednesday or something idk bc I want my allergy blood test to be accurate even though they said I can keep taking it bc it won’t affect it but I’m scared it will, but I have to get blood work for allergy testing bc of the skin test issue I talked about last week but anyway my sister was sent to the hospital last night and they got home around 5 I think and I went to bed at 4:30 or later so we got about the same amount of sleep, and I woke up at 9am today (now 11:33am) and I wake up early bc it’s a fasting blood test, they said I don’t have to fast but it’s more accurate if I do, so my ed ass is going to take the chance to fast
So it’s getting late, I go to my moms room and she’s still sleeping and I say:
“mama” to wake her up
and she groggily says “what”
and I ask her when we’re going to get my blood work and she said after lunch,
I said “ok well I have to fast and I’m getting really hungry and uncomfortable”
she said “you’ll have to wait, I want to get more sleep I’ve only gotten a few hours”
and I said “uh ya me too but this blood work is important and I’m fasting”
and she said “wait, I’m getting more sleep, you’ll just have to wait”
So her version of after lunch is about 1:30, so that will be me fasting for about 13 hours (which I used to do 19-24 but obviously I’m in kinda recovery so I can’t pull that crap anymore) and I’m sitting here like
Damn you really do not care about this at all, this is my make or break blood work for inpatient and I need this in like 4 days ago and you’re still messing around
And I’m guessing almost everyone here reading this has gotten blood work, probably have gone to a special building/place where they specialize in labs and blood work and that stuff, so you guys know that if you don’t go at the crack of dawn and you go around lunch time, you’re f’ed and you’ll be waiting for about an hour most times
And I also need groceries like meat, yogurts, fruits, ya know the basics so I can make fricken meals for once instead of microwaving DAMN PANCAKES THAT TASTE LIKE PACKING PEANUTS
Anyway if you’re reading this far thank you for listening to me, it’s probably a lot easier to read if I did smaller lines of text but I tried grouping each though into their own spots
Usually I’m fine with skipping meals but like I usually never skip lunch bc that usually helps from skipping breakfast but today I’m just so annoyed bc whenever a plan is made then it gets changed last second I start freaking out on the verge of a panic attack
Side note: I’m very prone to anxiety and panic attacks, they happen in lots of ranges from bareable and im still able to live life and on the other side of the spectrum, very very bad to the point where I can’t breathe or get out of bed and I feel like I’m dying, my heart rate skyrockets to a dangerous zone etc.
Anyway, skipping lunch gives me anxiety and missing blood work, all of this stuff, I’m at the point where I’m shaking so bad bc plans are changed and I need food and what if I pass out from blood and I get sent to the hospital again or what if I get blood work then need to go to the store and my mom is like “no” bc SHE doesn’t want to or like what if I pass out at the store from not eating like I’m just so stressed rn and I feel gross and uncomfortable
Anyway again thank you for listening and reading

Ultimate Ship Meme: Azulaang
Rate the Ship -
Awful | Ew | No pics pls | I’m not comfortable | Alright | I like it! | Got Pics? | Let’s do it! | Why is this not getting more attention?! | The OTP to rule all other OTPs
How long will they last? - Until I say so. I can see them being together after death as spirits.
How quickly did/will they fall in love? - Ooooh boy. Azula struggles to understand friendship. I think she'd fall in love fast and hard but take the longest to realize. Aang wouldn't let himself get attached at first because Azula is unapologetic and one of the things I like about Azulaang is how it would push Aang to deals with the nitty gritty gray, not in a The Fire Nation was right all along way but in how even Kyoshi and Roku's conflict resolution let to disagreements. I think it would take Aang longer to fall in but once they reach a semblance of common ground he'd be well aware he's falling in love and would enjoy the ride.
How was their first kiss? - Let's see my fanfics. In Blue it was awkward. In Weightless it was sweet. In Smut it was horny and hate filled. In canon I think their first kiss would be very passionate and then they snap back to reality and Aang would evade while Azula denies so they wouldn't talk about it but they'd for sure be thinking about the kiss.
Wedding:
Who proposed? - Technically Azula. As soon as Aang hears about a Fire Nation wedding, either his friends or he learns about Ozai and Ursa's wedding, his mind would be set on a wedding. He wouldn't say anything but he'd squirrel away relevant wedding information like he'd hear a song and go "I want that instrument to play at my wedding." But Azula would have her life planned out by other people and there'd be a set date where Ozai now Zuko are supposed to comb through suitor requests (it was probably Ursa's role. If she's there she'd talk to Azula directly instead of Lo and Li. I don't think Lo and Li are high enough rank to determine the suitor but I think it would be customary/expected for their input to be asked). Azula would tell Aang something along the lines of "I should be wed." and he'd agree and then Azula will spend an abnormally long time wondering if he married her because he liked her or because it's his duty until she asks him while he's discussing potential baby room colors pre wedding.
Who is the best man/men? - Sokka and Toph. Azula was going to pick Momo but he made a better flower girl. Yes she did this to annoy Zuko (and because Toph didnt want to wear the bridesmaid outfit) it's okay though Fire Lord Zuko was the guest of honor.
Who is the braid’s maid(s)? - Katara, Suki, Mai, Ty Lee. Mai pretends she hates the outfit but she's secretly pleased.
Who did the most planning? - Aang did the most thinking but Azula did the most planning.
Who stressed the most? - Externally Aang. Internally Azula.
How fancy was the ceremony? -
Back of a pickup truck | 2 | 3 | 4 | Normal Church Wedding | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Kate and William wish they were this big.
100% Azula's fault. Aang has no clue what Fire Nation weddings are supposed to be like.
Aang: Wow I can't believe all weddings in your Nation are this big.
Azula: They're not. It's because I'm Royalty and you're the Avatar.
Though I hc that Aang wants to get married in all the different Nations and Azula secretly wants to experience a small wedding so they get married 3 more times with one of them being a very small Air Nation wedding.
Who was specifically not invited to the wedding? - Hmmm I'm not sure. On one hand, Ozai redemption. On the other hand, Ozai death.
Sex:
Who is on top? - Aang. Azula thinks she wants to be on top but she'd rather be pampered and Aang is more comfortable communicating and attending to needs. Aang has no strong preference either way and they do switch but this is their usual dynamic.
Who is the one to instigate things? - Azula but she denies it.
How healthy is their sex life? -
Barely touch themselves let alone each other | 2 | 3 | 4 | Once a couple weeks, nothing overboard | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They are humping each other on the couch right now
I think it's up to the reader's preference but I can see them being very private (Azula) and naturally talented (Aang) to the point where they assume every couple has sex daily. Hc that Aang and Suki talk about sex freely (ex: When I do __ should I __ or do girls prefer ___? I can never tell with Azula. Why do guys do ___ after ____ ? I've tried asking Sokka but he doesn't give me a straight answer.) Much to the fear of Sokka and Azula.
How kinky are they? -
Straight missionary with the lights off | 2 | 3 | 4 | Might try some butt stuff and toys | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Don’t go into the sex dungeon without a horse’s head
Again up to the reader. They both like learning new things and are prodigies so I think they'd end up reading about things to try in bed (Azula) and would try things out to see what they like (Aang) until they learn what they and each other generally like/dislike.
How long do they normally last? -
Does the Avatar State remove your refractory period? >;3c
Do they make sure each person gets an equal amount of orgasms? - No. Aang likes overstimulating.
How rough are they in bed? -
Softer than a butterfly on the back of a bunny | 2 | 3 | 4 | The bed’s shaking and squeaking every time | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | Their dirty talk is so vulgar it’d make Dwayne Johnson blush. Also, the wall’s so weak it could collapse the next time they do it.
Neither can dirty talk. Azula is rougher. Aang likes to take it slow. She sets the pace in the beginning but he decides when it ends.
How much cuddling/snuggling do they do? -
No touching after sex | 2 | 3 | 4 | A little spooning at night, or on the couch, but not in public | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 | They snuggle and kiss more often than a teen couple on their fifth date to a pillow factory.
Azula refuses to cuddle in public but in return they cuddle all night.
Children:
How many children will they have naturally? - hc them having twin boys at first with one firebender and one airbender because poetry. But Azula really wants a girl so they have a third child she is an airbender with Aang's charm and knack for getting in trouble and Azula's ruthlessness. Amon kidnaps her and instead of easily escaping (Aang's genes) she instead viciously mocks him the way only a preteen can (Azula's genes.) It's traumatic enough for Amon even before the parents show up. Then Aang wants another one and Azula wants another firebender so they do the do and surprise triplets! (maybe it has to do with ejaculatimg in the Avatar State lol) So 6 in total and lets say its 3 boys 3 girls with 3 airbenders 3 firebenders.
How many children will they adopt? - None. Azula is wary of motherhood and I know people like to hc Aang as adopting and while I can see him acting as a father figure to several kids I think he'd greatly prefer biological kids especially airbenders. It's a flaw that was barely touched upon and def not handled well in Legend of Korra.
Who gets stuck with the most diapers? - Servants or Aang. After a kid or two Azula would be comfortable enough to change the diapers but it would still be mostly Aang.
Who is the stricter parent? - Depends on the kid. Aang is more lenient with airbenders and Azula with firebenders or girls. I can see Azula being strict with training & studies but not with sharing whereas Aang would have less rules but they'd be more heavily enforced (ex: no airgliding without supervision until you've mastered the safety course)
Who stops the kid(s) from doing dangerous stunts after school? - Azula. She's pretty lenient with the term dangerous esp. when it comes to firebending as long as basic safety measures are applied (ex: you can pracrice lightning as long as it's not pointed towards yourself aka dont be Zuzu) but Aang is of the mindset "How are you gonna learn airbending without dangerous stunts?" And after the first few incidents she started stepping in.
Who remembers to pack the lunch(es)? - Azula but Aang cooks them.
Who is the more loved parent? - Appa
Who is more likely to attend the PTA meetings? Azula. When Aang attends the teachers shower him and his kids with compliments ("You're doing so well teaching your kids the values of the Air Nomads. It must be so hard being The Last Airbender"). They do the same with Azula but unlike Aang she sees through it and manages to get an accurate assessment of how their kids are doing.
Who cried the most at graduation? - Aang was more happy than sad. Azula cried before and after.
Who is more likely to bail the child(ren) out of trouble with the law? - Aang. He is a notorious lawbreaker. Azula would bail the kids and she could do so quicker than Aang in a few cases because of her connections but she'd be mad so their kids would rather call Aang or break themselves out.
Cooking:
Who does the most cooking? - Tied. Aang at first but then Azula wants to learn and after Aang teaches her since she has less experience she finds more enjoyment in cooking.
Who is the most picky in their food choice? -
Technically Aang since he's a vegetarian. Azula hasn't tried as many foods and she's used to not making a fuss at the family dinner table to the point of which Aang notices.
Who does the grocery shopping? - Both. Aang has a better eye for vegetables/fruits and Azula is better with prices (it's not about the cost it's about the value).
How often do they bake desserts? - Aang bakes them when he can/weekly. They're fruit based so if Azula doesn't want dessert he gives it to Momo or flings it at a target.
Are they more of a meat lover or a salad eater? - Gee I wonder. Aang eats salad Azula eats meat.
Who is more likely to surprise the other(s) with an anniversary dinner? - Aang but Azula tends to figures it out. Azula is more likely to plan a dinner but she wouldn't make it a surprise.
Who is more likely to suggest going out? - Aang but Azula is a close second. It would be a tie if it wasn't for the bathhouse.
Who is more likely to burn the house down accidently while cooking? - Accidentally? Aang. On purpose? Azula.
Who cleans the room? - Servants or Aang.
Chores:
Who is really against chores? - Azula hates cleaning up but she's neater.
Who cleans up after the pets? - Aang.
Who is more likely to sweep everything under the rug? - Aang.
Who stresses the most when guests are coming over? - Azula.
Who found a dollar between the couch cushions while cleaning? - Aang.
Who takes the longer showers/baths? - Azula. In the Fire Nation Palace Aang has taken to chatting with Azula in the Royal Spa while he feeds her (and mostly himself) cherries.
Misc:
Who takes the dog Appa out for a walk? - Aang
How often do they decorate the room/house for the holidays? - Never. Once they like the room they like the room. If its an event they'll go to a different location for it or leave the Air Temple as is.
What are their goals for the relationship? -
To stay together.
Who is most likely to sleep till noon? -
Aang slept for a hundred years so I'll give it to him.
Who plays the most pranks? - Tie. They've both pulled elaborate pranks as kids.

Gally imagine part 6
Part one Part two Part three Part four Part five
Tumblr media
It wasn’t until I was laying in my lumpy bed that night that things started to occur to me. It finally hit me, maybe all the things he said I should change were things he noticed... no, that was dumb it was all just basic stuff.
Except for the pants dance. He’d come up with that specifically and he’d turned fifty shades of red. Maybe that one meant something to him personally.
I found myself grinning in the dark and slapped a hand over my upturned lips, embarrassed for no reason. I tried to ignore the thought of Gally being attracted to me and the sprinkly feeling it gave me deep inside, and also shoved away the thought I had that he was cute and tried to get to sleep. But I don’t think I stopped grinning all night.
I paid attention to Gally from the corner of my eyes after that. It was hard to find out how observant someone was of you and not let on that you were trying to observe them right back. It was terrifying but some how a victory whenever I’d look up and make direct eye contact with him, the thrill when either he looked surprised before averting his gaze like he hadn’t been watching, or would hold my gaze until I was the one who couldn’t handle it anymore.
Sometimes I’d be brave in the lunch line and give a brief greeting as I passed him, usually a simple “Gally” and a nod with a barely contained smirk. Sometimes he’d surprise me and sit at the same table, usually when Newt was there as well since they were pretty good friends which was unexpected to me for some reason. But they would talk and it would let me pop in some appropriate questions about things around the glade and stories of before I got there. It got me more accustomed to talking to Gally, broke what was left of the ice after the laughing in the woods.
I was really figuring out that my first impression of him wasn’t very accurate. He was serious, but about his work because they had to do it safely and make it safe for everyone to use. He seemed mean but it was because he was protective and as I was out of the ordinary I was seen as a threat at first. He liked order and peace, and it was quite vital to maintaining their precarious life there, but teenage boys were always on the verge of anarchy and madness. Gally was forced to mature faster and had to put the fear of death into the new guys who had delusions of slacking off. Gally wasn’t uncaring, he was just... aggressively caring.
Every time I learned something about who Gally was I’d notice something else, like the peppering of freckles on his skin, how one side of his mouth would go higher than the other on the rare occasion he would smile, or how full and nice his lips were. With every nice new thing about his personality he became better and better looking to me.
It was like getting to know a big dog that had growled at you. You let them sniff you and you make sure they’re ok before you try to pet them, you read their body language, and while you may find they have very soft ears and you’d like to mush their cute face up, you are a little intimidated to, they could change their mind and growl at you again if you weren’t careful.
I could tell he was feeling odd about figuring out what to call me since I never had remembered my name. Most called me Greenie still, others called me Girly and of course Newt called me Muppet, but I saw Gally decide that he could not call me that. We found out what he wanted to call me at the bonfire when the next Greenie arrived.
The fighting circle had seemed scary and dumb when I’d first gotten there and they tried to proceed with it like life was still normal, but now it had a certain appeal, at least to watch.
Gally was an effortless powerhouse, but he didn’t just throw it around because he could, he conserved his energy and strength so he could have longer endurance. He waited for a good opening before he exerted himself. He was pretty much an undefeated champion. It was a spectacle and as much entertainment as I was going to get around here.
Gally was red faced but hadn’t broken a sweat when he was looking for his sixth contender. While his back was turned I felt someone grab my shoulders from behind and thrust me into the circle.
“Hey Gally! Fresh meat!” Whoever it was yelled and the other boys cheered louder than I’d ever heard them before.
Gally looked surprised then amused when he turned around and saw me.
I gave a fake and nervous laugh. “Oh, no, no. I didn’t- I wasn’t-“
“Too late, you’re in the circle now,” Gally said and I could tell he was having fun with this and making up rules.
The boys barred me from leaving, compacting themselves together so I couldn’t break through. I could feel Gally pacing on the opposite side of the circle, eyeing me up for the kill, I could tell.
“I don’t know the rules,” I tried to argue as I felt my heart trying to crawl up my throat as I turned back toward Gally.
He started taking slow steps toward me, the glower in his eyes had my lungs struggling to do the simple job they usually could do in my sleep just fine.
Gally made a sudden motion where he lowered a little and spread his arms a little wider like he was about to rush me and I jumped, taking a half step back. He broke into a chuckle and the fullest smile I’d ever seen on his face which he quickly tried to hide by looking down.
“Just stay in the circle as long as you can,” Newt told me from the sidelines after making his way closer to me.
“That’s not actually helpful,” I said, flicking him as I passed, trying to stay as far from Gally as he slowly stalked me around the circle. “What’s he allowed to do to me? What am I allowed to do to him? What can’t I do?”
I was only about 70% convinced Gally wouldn’t actually hurt me, but I knew I wasn’t getting out of this without something happening to me and I had no idea what it could be. And I knew I couldn’t do a single thing to him. I could try, but it’d be an embarrassing failure.
Finally tired of playing cat and mouse with me, Gally closed the space between us. He caught my wrist and ducked, throwing me over his shoulder. I felt the wind knocked out of me as my organs got rearranged from the pressure of his shoulder in my stomach, but the sensation of his hand gripping my lower thigh was overwhelming.
I felt him walk me a short distance before setting me down ever so gently on the outside of the circle. As he straightened up, right when his eyes were level with mine he paused.
“Don’t get carried away, Princess,” he said softly just for me and then... and then he winked. He smirked at my wide eyes before he straightened up the rest of the way and took a few steps backward, back into the center of the circle. I could have caught several flies with my open mouth.
