Please tell us about the Days Sisters!

The Days girls are the American Japanese-Welsh cousins of Osaka Trio (Wakaba, Ryuko, & Kyrie). They were born and raised in Harlan, KY to Oisín M. Days and Chieko Ono.

They're parents are both doctors who work hard to help people in Harlan which is an major poverty stricken area. Oisín is very quiet, a bit spacy, and always looks to have a cloud of melancholy hanging over him. Chieko is bursting with good humor and energy. She has a big laugh and a big heart.

Shasta Shizuka Days (married name; Sanchez)

DOB: April 1, 1968

The eldest sister. In the typical trope way she's also the shortest. Shasta is a Harvard graduate district attorney that works in tandem with the major crimes unit her husband Julio works in LA. She's perceived to most, even to her sisters as cold, mean, crabby, etc. Julio and their children are pretty much the only people who get to see the real Shasta. Like Ian has mentioned; "she didn't used to be that way." Shasta is precise and logical, she needs everything to be just-so. She's very fashionable and has an austere, clean sense of style...which is a stark contrast to the shit box death wobble rust ridden pick up truck she won't get rid of. With Julio they have three biological kids; twins Mana & Shiho, and Mamoru, and an adopted son; Mark. Outside of work Shasta doesn't really have friends, she's a homebody and likes to read old french novels or watch black and white movies.

Dahlia Eiko Days

DOB July 7, 1973

The second sister and the tallest at 5'11. Dahlia is not in anyway like her parents and sisters in the academics department. She only just barely got out of high school and WOULD NOT go to college. Dahlia is a detective that made her way out to LA and worked in Farmington but bailed, seeing the writing on the wall with Vic Mackey and his strike team. She worked major crimes with Julio and Shasta but eventually felt the need for seasons so she's currently in Chicago working Intelligence. Dahlia is brash, sarcastic, a shameless flirt, and short tempered. Because of her temperament she makes risky impulse decisions, but is fueled by good intentions and almost naive sense of what justice should be. Dahlia is the antithesis of Shasta where you'll never see her in a dress or a skirt, you can't even get in a blazer unless work requires it. She's jeans, tshirts, and hoodies all the way. Dahlia currently has a restoration project of a classic muscle car. In her off time she's bent down under the hood working, grease and grime all over her face and a cigarette in her mouth. She's also a reader but it's modern mysteries.

Sunny Miyu Days

DOB December 13, 1978

Third in line and the "older" twin. Sunny has stayed close to home, when to a state school, trained at glynco and is a us marshall out of Lexington. Sunny is true to her name; lively, outgoing, friendly. She has big golden retriever energy. Sunny is also very nosy and that usually gets her into trouble because she can't leave well enough alone. Her dog with a bone nature is probably why she's so good at chasing fugitives. Her and Raylan Givens both kicking up dirt hasn't put either of them in the graces of the people in their hometown. Sunny dresses a little casual for work, jeans and a button down in a tacky print, but at home she's a cutoffs, tank top, and everyone be damned if you make her put on shoes lol. She watches a lot of tv, cooking shows especially since she's of the four the worst cook. Sunny is a bit of carpenter, she likes remodeling her house when the mood strikes her. And she's nursing a HUGE crush on her coworker, Rachel Brooks.

Ian Hibiki Days (married name; Barba)

DOB December 13, 1978

The youngest! She and Sunny are also mirror twins. If you look at the banner their freckles are the same but the opposite side. Sunny's dyed hair distinguishes them but also Ian is considerably shorter due to getting sick in her early teens that resulted in her stunted height. She's right as rain though, just now she's "the short twin." Ian is less outgoing than Sunny, but still friendly. Ian's described as empathetic, intuitive, kind, with a tendency to be analytical. She's also a Harvard graduate with linguistics and psychology. She's a detective in Manhattan with SVU. Her partner was Munch until he retired and then got partnered with Carisi. She did early in her story help out Chicago Intelligence where she was briefly close with Antonio Dawson.

Ian is loyal to an almost deadly fault. She will always put herself out to help someone else. And like her twin will keep at it till she sees the desired result. Ian is a good cook but absolutely hates cooking. You can usually find her somewhere "low-end" as opposed to the fancy places nyc has to offer. She's big on breakfast. Ian now and then likes to play videogames, but to Fin's disappointment, not fps. She's a swanky dresser like Shasta but has a much more masculine/tomboyish flair. Trousers, jeans, oxfords, boots, blazers and plaid that looks like it came off a couch from the 70s.

She has a saint bernard; Chevalier, whom she had before she met Barba and a cat; Caderousse that Barba tried really hard not to like but that's his cat now. She and Barba have two children; Yui Catalina and Inés Hanamaru (middles names are maternal and paternal grandmother's names respectively)

FRUIT OF THE LOOM MANDELA EFFECT

I apologize for the long post in advance

I understand that most mandela effects are a product of our brain misremembering or making false memories. Such as looney tunes being remembered as looney toons because tunes sounds like toons and also reminds people of carTOONs. It just makes sense. There's a video explaining these common misconceptions HERE. If you like this kind of stuff, I recommend you watch it, because it goes over this mandela effect very well, but I’m just not satisfied with the conclusion. I’m usually a skeptic of conspiracies. It’s fun to research and speculate, but I prefer to believe rational explanations. BUT this particular mandela effect just hits different and I want to talk about it. It’s also one of the rare instances that I personally have experienced the mandela effect. I do in fact remember thinking 'huh they must have changed the logo' years back. I swear that I remember the logo looking different back in the days of elementary school. I'm just so baffled because, as the linked video explains, cornucopia (which is the swirly basket in the background) is not a very commonly depicted object. It would be difficult for our brains to add something, that we don’t even know. I’ve never actually seen a real cornucopia in real life, but that could just be me. Additionally I've read a lot of comments where people said, that as children they actually learned what a cornucopia was BECAUSE they saw it in the logo and asked their parents for an explanation.

This is an artistic rendition of the logo as some people remember it. It is fake and has never existed. Even the company itself denied it.

This is a screenshot from a 2006 animated movie ‘The Ant Bully’. I’ve never seen the film myself but this is a scene where the main character apparently shrinks and the film shows a close up on the underwear. More importantly it shows the label on it. Fruit of the loom makes underwear so that’s not surprising, what is though is that there’s a cornucopia behind the fruit. Is it an elaborate joke? Did the animators experience the mandela effect or was this particular mandela effect already known on the internet and they were just in it on the joke?

In an episode of South Park,  season 16 episode 6, we can also see a cornucopia on the main character’s underwear tag. I won’t be posting a picture because it’s a bit nsfw (it shows some ass and poop so it’s a little nasty) but here’s a link to a reddit post where a user shared the screenshot of the episode.

Read this paragraph from a book called  "Signs of the zodiac : a reference guide to historical, mythological, and cultural associations". It was written by Mary Ellen Snodgrass in 1997. She wrote about horn of plenty (synonym for cornucopia) as a symbol of maternity, nurturing etc. and gave some examples, one of which happens to be ‘Fruit of the Loom underwear’.

My favorite ‘proof’ I want to go over is this album, titled “Flute of the Loom” by Frank Wess, an american  jazz saxophonist and flutist. This album is from 1973 and the cover was illustrated by a man named Ellis Chappel. Here is a link to yet another reddit post, where the user actually contacted the illustrator. The post shows that it wasn’t Ellis who responded, but his son Reed. He claims he clearly remembers the cornucopia, just like his dad, and that it in fact was the inspiration for the cover. To me it very clearly parodies, not just the name but also the look of the Fruit of the Loom logo. Another thing I thought about was that flutes are usually straight (at least to my limited instrumental knowledge), which is even funnier when you see this particular cover where the flute is so misshapen it almost resembles more of a french horn. It is so similar in shape to a cornucopia I am actually getting the creeps. And remember this was the 70′s. No social media, no quick access to google etc. There was no way to just stumble upon mandela effects on reddit, insta, tumblr and consequently create false memories. Wherever the illustrator came up with the idea that Fruit of the Loom had a cornucopia, it surely wasn’t the internet. 

Ok so now that I have gone over the parodies and the written references, I am left with only one picture in my ‘conspiracy theory’ folder, and it is this one. This crappy, low resolution image from 4chan (allegedly). I am not a 4chan user and couldn’t for the life of me find the source of this image, so if anyone out there has the original post: share it, reblog, message me whatever. Could this be a knock off tshirt? It doesn’t make much sense since the brand is known for producing cheap affordable clothing while imitations typically happen with designer brands. Why would someone make a knock off of a product which originally costs like 5 €?? The shirt also looks old and the logo appears washed out and faded. On the other hand, Fruit of the Loom always produced a label with a colorful logo, they never stamped it onto fabric.

In conclusion, I’m not sure what to think and feel about this mandela effect. I gathered a lot of material which works in favor of the cornucopia’s existence. However the company itself denies it’s existence. The logo had brown leaves instead of green at one point, which could explain the confusion, but it doesn’t explain the clear cornucopia shape on Flute of the Loom album cover. Can you tell I spent way too much time on this

OSRR: 1973

today was good! i finally ran some errands i'd been meaning to do for a while, and game was fun. and for a bit in the middle, i got to spend time with joel. ☺️

so yesterday was AWESOME. i didn't get much sleep because i was up late wrapping gifts and then didn't fall asleep until like 4something in the morning, and chelsea woke me up just before 8, but it was fun. momma was surprised and happy by the contents of her stocking, and everyone enjoyed the gifts i got for them. plus my sister and her husband finally was able to give me the switch lite they got for me, and they also gave me pokémon shield and i'm SO excited because i have my own console!! and pokémon game!!! and i got a bunch of pokémon and magic cards, and a pocket knife and a new shirt and a ONESIE WITH POCKETS, so overall? a+.

and then i got to go to joel's where i was given a bunch of stuff there, too. joel's brothers and their wives were there too, and it was nice to see them. john enjoyed his gifts, lisa loves her scarf, and renee loved the mug i got her, and joel was just kinda floored with my gifts for him. he was like, you know this is gonna be filled today, right? about the decanter. and he was super excited about the dice stones, too. lance and sam and ethan and hayley were also happy - i got both couples an amazon gift card. they were surprised to get something from me, because they're all limited on resources, which i get because lance and sam JUST bought a house, and ethan and hayley are moving soon, so all of their resources are going into housing and moving and stuff like that. but i was happy to give them something helpful.

i was given a bunch of stuff and i gotta say, it was awesome. i got a twelve pack of harry potter socks, a bunch of makeup from sephora (S U P E R pricey), fuzzy socks and some lotion and a fuzzy pen and stuff in my stocking, a pillow that looked like an ordinary dusk over a bridge but had MOTHMAN in one corner!!, tiny mothman plushies, a mothman enamel pin, a really pretty tshirt dress from lularoe, a hand-painted letterman jacket with MOTHMAN ON THE BACK, an applebee's gift card, a nintendo store gift card, and two gorgeous sets of dice from joel: translucent pan pride heartbeat dice, and the sylvan watermelon tourmaline dice i've been wanting for MONTHS. and then lisa gave me two more dresses - the dinosaur one she wore at thanksgiving and a brand new red one with a deep v neck that's R E D and i'm totally wearing it on new years with the red lipstick she gave me. i got to hang out with joel's family and then we went to his uncle and aunt's for dinner and the kids gave me a sephora gift card and i was surprised and happy to receive something. it was very kind of them to think of me. overall: a+

so between giving good gifts and receiving good gifts that honestly made me feel like a really cool fourteen year old, i would say that this christmas has been the best on the books so far. it was awesome.

(and getting that sephora gift card from the kids saved me almost fifty dollars - i wanted to keep my gifts for aubrey and tyler around the same price value, and since aubrey loves sephora and i don't really ever wear makeup, i'm giving her the gift card and i was able to return the gift i had gotten for her and part of tyler's gift to keep them equal-ish value. i got to return them in my adventures today. and i got rid of a bag of stuff for goodwill. and i returned yarn i didn't need. and i got more fabric for dice bags. and i found the wallet i've been searching for for two months at target, and i got myself some more magic and pokémon cards from the store bc treat yo self.)

and then after all christmas day things were done, joel and i sat together and watched chuck. it was a nice way to unwind after the day. his tummy was hurting, and i ended up learning that joel can burp on command. which is mildly entertaining but also gross. i just really love joel. so much. i would do anything for him.

(and while we were watching, i finished my aunt's scarf so i was able to give it to her today completed.)

i'm so happy that this christmas has been so amazing. i always get anxious around this time of year because people and things to do and a lot of stress bc party, but yesterday was relaxing and tomorrow will be busy but good, so i'm happy about that too.

Oops, I’m now officially old

I have a deep affinity for the B52′s infectious catchy pop from the very first time I heard Rock Lobster and Planet Clare on JJ in the 70′s. Danceable and Progressive art kitsch colliding with surf and Spector-influenced 50′s pop that defined the “new wave” of the 80′s

I pushed my way to the front because people were just standing there, WTF? A legendary new wave dance band that screams “Dance this mess around” and they just stand there looking at their fucking phones? Really? So I push in front of the sea of zombie dead and get my “Pogo Hippy Hippy Shimmy Shakin on, Dancing my ass off in the “Mosh gone Soft Pit” only to get lectured by a pretentious little precious Millennium breakfast club 40 years too late princess

Mr 55: What? “It’s called dancing sweetheart…free ya mind and your ass will follow” (a cultural reference lost in the vacuous cultural wasteland of today’s safe)  

“Hey princess, next time you go and see a band from mummies record collection, figure out how they roll or stay at home and watch the videos in your safe zone” “Don’t turn my jungle into your bedroom, it’s all we “ragers” have left”

Just about then a light come on that glows Mummy doesn’t speak to me like this? What will I do?

Princess had come to the realization she was in fact adrift in the big bad world at a rock show, this wasn’t the “wiggles”. So there she was, socially awkwardly gasping for cultural reference with her equally clueless crew, “we didn’t do that dance at dance class and I won a medal”, she thought. I hope Simple minds aren’t so confronting,  She frantically googled it to make sure she was doing the socially acceptable thing.

Right now you’re thinking I’m a mean old fart shooting fish in a barrel, think again this is the conformity of a different type of conservative tribalism that always takes the politically correct least path of resistance. This is not what made the B52's great in the post-punk new wave movement of the 80’s now dimming in the embers of the digital conformity.

I must have seen 20 to 30 concerts at the Horden (including the infamous Rat Parties) and danced my ass off to the icons of a vibrant counter-culture that dared to be different; Slade, Sweet, Zappa, Emmy Lou Harris, The Police, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nirvana to name a few.  I’m not about to stop my wicked ways for some puerile puritanical puffery from a whining, entitled politically correct youth with all the fun bred out of them (ironically by the very generation that thrived in said counter-culture) crucifying what fun we have left. I have Tshirts older than these wank spanners FFS.

Was I dancing dangerously? I guess I was to the uninitiated, I was shaking my shit in the front row of a B52’s show surrounded by black t-shirt cream puff statues created my generation molly coddling them. Chear the fuck up.

Now before you go judging my “ behavior choices” as the ranting of an old man wishing to rekindle his misspent youth, let’s get it straight. I’m trying to rekindle their youth, not mine, I’m happy with my experience in the glory days of music. I don’t pick on people, I despise bullying, violence, I’m courteous, respectful and I know how to act in public. That being said, I’m sick of other people invading “my space” with their special rules of “consideration”. Did they do the same when Flume played there with his laptop show? I think not. What’s next, industrial fluoro and  Michelin safety protection with dancing police?  I thought to myself, What happened to one of the greatest live rooms in a city that once boasted a phenomenal live scene’s upon which our cultural identity was forged?.

The true egalitarian turf for everyone, the dance floor, has been homogenised by lecturing puritanical princess’s telling 55-year-olds they are assaulting them by bumping into them? TISM. Wow, she should have been there for Nirvana, she’d need therapy and meds for life.

I understand that people must be safe, that’s a given, however, the rise of a litigious culture has destroyed the self-awareness of common sense accountability in a need to blame others for what should be self-evident. I don’t seek to impose myself upon others but if I can’t even dance at a rock show, we need to re-examine our priorities because “the moralising puritans of political correctness” have won. Ask yourself “since when does safety steep in the consciousness so far as to outstrip fun with an imposition of moralising to others?

Oh well, this big sweaty lug may have given them a taste of what it was like and what they were missed out on.

I guess I may be a product of a different time when everybody at the rock show shook their shit, not their phones.
