In light of this whole simsulani shit, I have an urge to get something off my chest. Might seem harsh, but that's just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

If you're in this community just so you can make a profit off of it - be so fucking ashamed of yourself.

At what point has this community become so fucking greedy? Instead of creators who are genuinely interested in making some fun stuff for the game, we get a bunch of people who are hungry for a quick buck.

They steal, they give off in game stuff as their own (/greenllammas, I'm looking at you. you might have fixed the original post, but the internet remembers all), they paywall their stuff, which is in most cases lazy and subpar to say the least. CC shopping used to be so much fun, but now you get either perma paywall, or months of early access.

Where did we get lost, people? When has this became a new normal?

And don't even get me started on poses. Putting them behind a paywall has always seemed weird to me to begin with (it's one of the easiest things you can do in blender. yes it's challenging and hard and can be very tedious, but it's not even close to how difficult it is to make a mesh for the game, don't piss me off, i said what I said) but to steal from someone else and then put it on early access??? bro, I have so many questions for you.

You all are greedy little people and I'm honestly ashamed to be in the same community as you.

Sooooo……I may nuke 💣 my Maxis Match Save 🥲. It is super corrupt right now and I’m doing A LOT to try to save it and not sure if it’s worth it…which sucks because I put a lot of time into it.

I’m going to try to restore it prior to the corruption point. If that don’t work, there’s another method I can try but it’s SOOO time consuming (thus the reason I don’t think it’s worth it).

If I can’t save this file, I’ll have to create a new save, plop my old sims, lots, etc there and start over. We’ll see what happens…

Having completed her Angling Ace aspiration, Marin got cake-d up and sent on a vacation to Granite Falls and try and complete her fish collection. This gen's quirk is that they have to flirt with everyone who they encounter at a fishing spot, until they find their long-term partner.

Yeah, I'm thrilled about it too, Marin.

The rant follows. It was going to be a longer rant but then I got tired. You need energy to rant - who would have thought it? (Turns out I lied. It was still pretty long.)

Also anyone who isn't a Simmer will likely think that I need to touch grass after this (which, fair tbh). But then if you weren't a Simmer, you likely wouldn't be here in the first place 😉

(And yeah, it's all tongue-in-cheek/not to be taken seriously. Well, mostly lol.)

I know that the term 'long-term partner' is deliberately vague and leaves room for an aro-ace relationship (orrrr even a bff who you live with and raise a kid together?) which I appreciate. I know that she doesn't have to find her partner from this selection - the wording is that she just has to keep on flirting until she does.

But even of the premade townies, no one is sparking joy? I could default to Nalani, who you'd think would be perfect (I mean, gorgeous merperson and actually interesting in spite of her blah occult) and yet for some reason I'm just not feeling the two of them together.

So then the Watcher, in all her benevolence (aaaannd admittedly her cheapness for waiting on a sale to buy Lovestruck) set up a club for Marin. It was to be a club for young adults. It was to be a club for unmarried Sims. Which - I wish there was a finer means of classification, because I know damn well the two of you are engaged, Darrel Charm and Mateo Markovic from My Wedding Stories (whose name I had to look up, that's how little you inspire me). Bland as forbidden word townie from a pack so broke that it may as well be a millennial. Aaaand also it was to be a club for people with Level 2 Fishing and above.

Thus: young adults, unmarried, some skill (and therefore, hopefully interest) in fishing. Cute, cool. Hopefully we've weeded the catfish out of the pond.

Then we pulled up the tab of potential candidates and guess which forbidden word comes up.

Lou. Fucking. Howell.

For context, I have history with Lou Howell. I have beef with Lou Howell. Nothing particularly wrong with the guy, apart from a certain lightfingeredness (klepto trait) and a slight body hair problem around particular times of the month. But this motherfucker is like an universal adapter when it comes to all my Sims and I have to consciously make a decision to stay away from him in saves. In other words, Lou Howell is unwelcome here.

(I also don't really know yet what I'm doing with the fourth/next gen. Yeah, the rules say using music to make money. This Watcher however is this forbidden word tired of celebrity Sims popping up around the most random and out-of-way places that she's about to eject Get Famous into the sun, however, and it's taking every last once of willpower not to deactivate it right now. Sooo if I had an idea of what the fourth gen looked like, then I may have a less vague idea of what the baby daddy/mommy/gender neutral genetic donor should look like.)

Lou Howell For the record, Akira Kibo and Paolo Rocca are granddad and dad respectively. In spite of the incest glitch making a comeback elsewhere (maybe it's heard the Targaryens have returned to the telly?), they are therefore out of the picture.

I criticize and drag EAxis a lot but I understand that there are a lot of talented people on the Sims Team.

Why is that talent wasted and misused so much?

The Sims 4 could be so much more than it currently is without needing a new game or a new engine or any other "old" bullshit reason simmers have invented as a way to defend EAxis' shortcomings.

Instead someone (Electronic Arts) has this game in a vice grip and all they care about is the 2.8 BILLION DOLLARS that 70 million simmers could toss at them if we all bought any one Expansion Pack at full price.

Rather Long Sims 4 Rant

Before I continue with my The Sims 4 stories, it is with sadness that I inform you that the Wilsons recently lost the beautiful celebrity home they had just moved into. I don’t know exactly what happened, what I know is that it happened right after the For Rent EP update (which I didn’t buy or install, but yes, I did update). From that day on, my sims, who were on vacation in Sulani at the time, were unable to get back in the house. Every time they tried to return, the game would get stuck eternally at the loading screen. I tried everything, even evicting them and returning them to the house. Nothing, just the screen kept loading forever.

I also tried to demolish the lot to re-install the house, but every time I did this, (and I tried a lot of times), the game either crashed or kept loading infinitely. After many attempts of a lot of things like repairing the game, resetting it to factory settings, removing my mods folder, restoring saves, and all the solutions I know (I am die hard when it comes to troubleshooting The Sims), I finally decided to leave it alone and accept that my sims would never recover their beloved house and that they had to move.

Now they’re happily living again in Brindleton Bay, in one of the bigger houses there; they are comfortable, and going on with their lives, though I still really miss and long for the other house, which is still sitting there, since I have not been able to demolish it to put a new one. It’s still stuck there, which annoys me to no end cause I like my cities clean and functional, and just knowing that there is an abandoned and inactive house there really upsets me.

I know I could start a new save and install the house in a clean Del Sol Valley, but that would mean Allan and his family would lose all their current social and work relationships, which at this point for me is unthinkable, with all the networking they have established, co-workers, school friends, romances, etc. Plus, what about all the makeovers I did to everyone they knew? I mean, I saved every townie I made over in my library, but would I have to reinstall them one by one? Maybe, but how? I still don’t know much about this game; I know that in The Sims 3 it wouldn’t be a problem for me.

Anyway, the Wilson’s story wasn’t over, it wasn’t difficult to move them, the only thing that hurt me were Allan and Zoe’s awards, trapped in their lost home. But in one of the rare and fortunate times that I was able to enter the bugged house in build mode, I saved the room where the awards were in my library, and then installed it in the Wilson’s new house. That’s how I rescued the awards that now lie on a shelf in Allan and Zoe’s new bedroom. I continued to play and got a lot more photo footage of them, in addition to what I had before the update disaster. By the way, this is the first time I’ve had problems with an update, of any kind. I pride myself in being an expert at troubleshooting The Sims, but I guess I still have a lot to learn regarding The Sims 4, which is a relatively new game for me.

Anyway, I plan to uninstall the entire game soon and reinstall it on my other hard drive cause I’m running out of space and will need more since I plan to get a few other game packs in the future. Once my game is reinstalled, I’d love to be able to demolish the ruined house in Del Sol Valley and, if possible, reinstall it on the cleaned-up lot to give the Wilsons back the home they lost. So, if by any chance someone read this very long post to the end, and has gone through something similar to this, (i.e. not being able to enter a house but also not being able to demolish it in order to reinstall it), please let me know if you were able to solve it and how. Any new ideas, other than everything I already mentioned and all those obvious solutions around on EA’s Q&A, would be welcome.

Playing sims 4 on the PS5 is alright, except that the way the saving files work is a fucking nightmare!!!

I accidentally wrote over my Blood of the Brother bunker build I spent 3 fucking days on and there is no way to recover it. None.

And I forgot to upload the build into the Gallery.

Not enough that I had to spent an abundance of money since I had to switch to console, I can only have 10 saves in total, and sometimes the first saving option will be a completely different file.

Since Sai had to change in his dark form to keep his pointy teeth, he has some outfits there I haven't seen on him for years. And I keep wondering why they throw out these weird shaped clothes -.- (-> here is another example) Jeb is a bit shocked to see his beautiful boyfriend like this. But he loves him nonetheless ^^'

Sims 4 Limited Space

I'll probably buy the latest EP (Life and Death) when it goes on sale, but we really, really, REALLY need an expansion that allows commercial rental/leased spaces similar to the For Rent system (better actually) that allows multiple units on one lot. Cemeteries are definitely needed and should've been added long ago, but now we really have space issues. My sims in Sulani should not buried in Brindleton Bay because I have no space for a cemetery in Sulani.

Most maps are too small so you really have to pick and choose what you want/need because they're still restricting our business/commercial spaces to just one store/business per lot. I want the option to build art galleries, convenience stores/conbinis/bodegas, laundromats, banks, cafes, grocery stores/supermarkets, restaurants, bars, flower shops, bookstores, clubs, libraries, onsens, spas, hair salons, vet clinics, office space, parks, bakeries, and cemeteries (and more) in EVERY world.

The Sims 4 developers are still stuck on suburban America's mindset of building outward (sprawls) and need to realize that this is a game, so give us the option to also build UP like in most city/urban spaces. Imagine how our maps would look more realistic if we could have at 5 (or more) different businesses/commercial spaces on ONE lot 🥰

*Yes, I know mods allow multi-purpose lots, but I want OFFICIAL multi-purpose lots because, that's part of life so it should be part of the game, like years ago it should've been part of the game. We have cemeteries, but no ability to build a proper shopping center/mall? Seriously?

I have shoddy and unreliable internet. I don't have the time or patience for any more of this shit.

Some of you may not be aware of this, but The Sims 4 has some Always-Online problems likely stemming from EA's ill-advised and failed attempt to make SimCity (2013) Always-Online. It totes wasn't about piracy and it was totes Maxis' vision, right?! 😹😾💀

Whenever EA's servers are experiencing "technical difficulties", The Sims 4 goes to shit, literally.

Unusually long launch times? It could be your messy Mods folder but also, it's likely EA's servers.

My game is installed on a 2TB WD Black SN-850X SSD. If you're tech savvy, you'll know that's a damn good storage device. With NO INTRO installed - https://modthesims.info/d/532966/no-intro.html - my game launches in about 18 seconds when EA's servers aren't experiencing the difficulties of existing, but when they are, my launch time extends to almost 3 minutes.

Game performance randomly tanking to below 30 FPS? It could be that in-game thing with menus but also, it's likely EA's servers.

Going Offline in App and game solves this shit.
