The Sims 2 Inspired UI for The Sims 4

After making my own UI override, I've been itching to look back in time and try to recreate The Sims 2 UI in TS4, and here it is!

I tried to capture the look & feel as best as possible, so I hope you can enjoy this mod and reminisce a bit c:

General Info

Changelogs Current version: updated for 25th Birthday Patch ✅ Latest mod update: 26 January 2025 PC/Mac: 1.112.481.xxxx Older game versions than the ones listed will not work with this mod.

UI overhaul in the style of The Sims 2's UI.

Over 500+ additional icons recolored for CAS & BuildBuy!

Sims 2 style cursor recolors.

Most text are kept in their original color, though they might get changed/updated down the line.

To install:

Before installing/updating, remove any old versions of Sims 2 UI whenever there's a new mod update and clear your caches.

Download & extract the zip file within your Mods folder.

Install the latest UI Cheats Extension mod and make sure it loads after the Sims 2 UI mod. Current version needed: v1.45

Main Menu Override - now separated from the main mod.

Loading screen: download only one loading screen file. Available in: 4:3 - 16:9 - 16:10 aspect ratio.

Opening screen: file to replace the intro TS4 screen. Choose the file that pertains to your game language.

Phone icon addons: pick & choose depending on which mod you use.

TS2 Cursor: recolored TS4 cursor to match with TS2's cursor. Unfortunately, some cursors are missing their recolors (rotate cam & grab+arrows in CAS).

EA Notif: optional file if you prefer to keep the notification in its original color scheme.

High poly 'creators' have little excuse to churn out high poly, non-optimized garbage when they can lean on bump maps. (I know those can only do so much for more complex meshes, but for objects, texture maps can do SO much heavy-lifting).

I am so excited to be releasing my first sims 4 save-file!

This is version 1.0 which is a redo of Newcrest! There are also lots completed for Willow Creek, but that world is incomplete and will be updated in a future version.

Disclaimer: I own all of the DLC, and have used them throughout the builds and households. You can still download this without all of the DLC, but some items may be missing and need to be replaced. (I went back and forth on this, but ultimately my community said to just go for it).

No Mods/CC Required

There are 9 households living in Newcrest, with other households in Willow Creek and Not in World to populate the world. 

For console players, all of the lots and households are available on the sims 4 gallery. My id: simgraze

The downtown area of Newcrest is very sims 3 inspired, with many of the buildings taking influence from Sunset Valley. You can find the Doo Peas Corporate building for all of your freelance sims to visit. Check out the Sunset Plaza shops, including a gym, grocery store, bookstore, and thrift store. Get political at Town Hall and meet Mayor Avanche, who may be engaged in a lively debate. Have drinks at Waylon's Sports Bar, or grab dinner at the Sims 3 Bistro, or the run-down diner next door.

With plenty of drama, and 3 lots ready for your sims to move into, Newcrest is a great place for sims of all ages who are looking for a fresh start.

In terms of future updates, Willow Creek and San Myshuno are both in the works. I have no idea when they will be released, but I definitely want to release those updates at some point.

(Not Required, but what I use). The only mods that I recommend in terms of keeping sims in your neighborhood is Home Regions by Kuttoe. I like messing with my settings so that only sims from Willow Creek and Newcrest will populate my world.

They are not available for download. However, here are some that I would recommend if you are looking for a preset: Boho dreams (Neecxle) | Birdie (Sforzinda) | Lithium (Gunthermunch) | Luminescent (HazelMine) | Raices (Folkbreeze) | Almond (Glimersims) | Kaleidoscope (Okruee) | White Willow (Tianaberrie) | Serenity (Misslollypopsims) | Neapolitan (Midsummermoon) Photo Resources I use SRWE for a lot of my screenshots. I take some of them on a higher resolution monitor without hotsampling. I use Krita for photo editing and sometimes Canva. I usually crop my photos and resize them for faster uploading. Check out this tutorial if you're new to hotsampling. Check out this FAQ for help with understanding reshade. Video Resources I use OBS to record my videos and Filmora to edit. I also recommend Davinci for a free editing alternative. I use this mic for narrated episodes. Essential Gameplay Mods I don't use a lot of mods because I strongly dislike updating them. But these are the ones that I consider essential for my game: Basemental Drugs (21+) | Wicked Whims (18+) | MCCC I do have other gameplay mods installed, but I don't consider most of them to be necessities. MCCC and WW handle nearly all of the background "tuning" in my game. Other Mods These are mods that I don't necessarily need, but they're nice to have: UI Cheats Extension | RPO (I only use modules 1,7, and 14) | Utopya Romance Mods | Somnik and Severinka Custom Foods | Control Any Sim (Use with caution, this mod is rarely updated) | No Zzz | No Music Notes | Let's Get Fit | Hidden Highlight | Tool | No Romantic Satisfaction Decay I vey rarely add new mods to my game, so this list probably won't change. I do remove these mods if they start causing issues. Defaults/Overrides My current default skin can be found here , default eyes here, default feet here, and default teeth here. I mostly use these skintones. Default phone | Default phone two | Toothbrush | Headphones | Male animation replacer (18+) | Terrain override I don't use custom loading screens, menu/map overrides etc. Some Commonly Used CC I use a lot of eyes from these creators found here and here.
