Lilac Bush:  TS3 to TS4 & Pocci’s Lilacs

Lilacs are very special to me, they remind me of my mother. This is an item that I wanted so badly in my own game. I was surprised that though there are some beautiful lilac deco by Pocci  (@serenebluesims) that you can find HERE, & HERE, there was no lilac bush for outdoors. Pocci has given me permission to use her lilacs mesh for this item, to replace the original flower part of the TS3 item. Many thank yous, Pocci! ❤️ (Make sure to check out the rest of Pocci’s CC at the above handle, her creations are very beautiful (including many more flowers CC that you *will want*) some of my favorite CC items that I have in my own game. A note about the TS3 branches: I found this item a very long time ago and had it saved in a folder for when I could possibly do this project. It has no creator name in the file anywhere, all I can see is that it is a sims3pack file. This item very well may be a TS2 to TS3 conversion, that I have converted. I would like to credit the original creator of this item, so if anyone recognizes it, please please let me know. I have searched for quite a long time today for it and have had no luck.

Asylum Challenge: Days One & Two

For the first two days, the Watcher mostly used the gameplay to beef up the one means she's using to organize the townies: clubs. There are two: a chore/self care club and a socialisation club. By the end of Day Two, we had eight members in them all and had redeemed points to give them a 'friendly' vibe.

The first of Lilac's four aspirations that she has to complete, according to the rules, is Painter Extraordinaire. Here's her progress after Day One.

Level One: III at Easel

With such a motley crew as this, clashes were inevitable - and an occult combustion spontaneously occurred.

I regret to inform you that Vlad, with his nighttime strength perks, won the rematch after dinner, so for now they are tied.

Some friendly interactions also bloomed, with Lilac, Ted and fellow foodie L. appreciating maxed out chef Raj Rasoya's tasty dinner, and Lilac even sharing her joke about a sage, a corrupt mayor and a wanted criminal who one day walked into an asylum.

"We've heard this one before," said L.

Meredith and Jacques also joined them. So far everyone seems to like Meredith, possibly because of her GOOD trait, and even Jacques has been somewhat behaving himself.

After dinner it was reading, cleaning, napping and shower time via the house/self care club rules. MEAN L. Faba and EVIL Ted naturally hit it off, with Meredith electing to leave them to bond about... likely nothing good for the rest of us.

What was Raj doing lurking in the garden? Well, at that point there was only one toilet, so likely he was making use of the party bush.

The too-bright hallway lighting showing off his melanin-deficient charms to the fullest, Vlad attempted to win over Meredith, but where his EVIL trait didn't dissuade her, his uncontrolled hissing and spitting did the rest. Better luck another day, Vladdy.

And then as the witching hour struck, the Watcher realised that there was one Sim whose needs she wouldn't have to monitor too closely...

I truly have no idea why there were so few pictures from Day Two - maybe I had been struggling with the lighting and finally conceding defeat (three days so far have been played, so by Day Four it should be better :x). Meredith was on cooking duty, so the Sims got good eats for the second day in a row... including Vlad who joined in spite of that trait that makes him sick when he eats food.

Both he and the party bushes were later ruing his choice.

Level Two: Fine Artist

✅ Reach Painting Level 4 ✅ Sell 3 Paintings to Collectors or the Art Gallery ❌ Complete 3 Emotional Paintings (1/3)

Lilac painted enough to reach Level 2 of her aspiration, and even earned a stan in the process, who turned out to be Eleanor Sullivan. Haven't you darkened our doors enough by calling my teenaged Sims who don't even have children?

Fortunately L. was around to deal with the nuisance.

Upon setting this up, I'm realising just how ungainly it is to switch between the game and Paint 3D in order to take multiple screencaps, so hopefully C becomes more instinctual (also screencaps keep things in chronological order). More happens in Day Three, I promise.

The Wind Carries Me

Yupp I wrote another one-shot. With sketches this time!

The Wind Carries MeA powerful windstorm steals Snufkin's hat, and Moomintroll is determined to get it back for him. Snufmin but you gotta squint a little. Rating: G Warnings: None Word count: 8665

Moomintroll glanced over at Snufkin for help, but found him unusually subdued. At times like these, when everyone else was nervous and afraid, Snufkin would play them a song on his mouth-organ, or tell a story from his travels. But the mouth-organ had yet to make an appearance. Snufkin had barely spoken a word since they came inside, and sat with his blanket tight around him, staring ahead with a pensive brow. The glow of the candle reflected soft in his midnight eyes.

Leaning in, Moomintroll kept his voice to a low whisper. “Alright, Snuf?”

He didn’t move, except to give the smallest of nods. Fidgeting with discomfort, Moomintroll tried again.

“We might find your hat when the storm breaks. I bet it’s caught on the lilac bush. It kind of looked like it might fly in that direction.”

“No, it’s gone,” Snufkin sighed, letting the blanket drop off his shoulders. “It’s alright. It was so full of holes I could barely use it anymore. Time for a new one, I think.”

“That’s the spirit,” Moomintroll said encouragingly. Despite his statement, Snufkin didn’t appear at all cheered. It was odd to see him with his head bare, Moomintroll thought. Funny how much one got used to seeing someone a certain way. Not a day went by that his friend didn’t have that tattered hat with the caved-in point pulled down over his ears. It was as synonymous with Snufkin as music and dry humor. Moomintroll hardly recognized him without it. They were a pair, Snufkin and his hat.

Then Snufkin scooted further into the pool of light. “Do you know about the North Wind and the Sun?”

I noticed that there are no lilac bushes for The Sims 4, and I was kind of shocked! One of the most wonderful smelling flowers, and such a gorgeous bush to have in the yard, and I could not track down one.

There is a nice lilac bush for The Sims 3 by Rivaena, it could be converted to Sims 4, with a re-texture in the style of these Lilac Bouquets for The Sims 4 Pocci, it could match TS4 really nicely. Is this something that is doable? Does anyone out there want to?

1. if you could travel anywhere right now, where would you want to go?

My normal “first place I’d want to travel if I could afford it” destination has been Japan for a long time, probably with New Zealand (to see The Lord of the Rings filming locations) a close second.

2. do you have any tattoos or (non-earring) piercings?

Nope, I’m very boring and vanilla that way. Just the five holes in my ears. (3 on the left, 2 on the right.)

3. your favorite place in all the world?

Haven’t been there in far too long now, but I think that would be Brushwood Folklore Center in western New York.

4. what is the first thing you’re planning to do once all quarantine/self-isolation recommendations are lifted?

While I’d like to say something fun or adventurous? It’s probably going to be getting my sad, scruffy hair neatened up a little. I already needed a trim before everything went into lockdown. 😅

5. what is your favorite animal to own?

More like “be owned by” - definitely cats.  I have been owned by several lovely felines during my life. 💕

6. your favorite plant or flower?

Lilacs. I could stand with my face in a lilac bush and just breathe the scent in all day - damn the pollen, full sniff ahead!

7. do you prefer summer or winter, and why?

Probably summer, because it’s easier to get around. Since this Watcher has the Clumsy trait, trying to move on ice? Not good. 😅

8. something that always manages to calm you down/bring you peace?

Knitting, and music from an old jazz/New Age group called Exchange (especially their “Between Places” album).

9. out of all sims you have ever created in any iteration, who was your most memorable sim and why?

I know I’ve been neglecting her lately, but I think that’s probably Rose Harrington, my Global Superstar Sim. (I know Kenzie’s been getting all the attention lately, but there’s just something about Rose.)

10. your favorite movie of all time?

For a long time it was the animated Disney Beauty and the Beast. Then that got bumped by the first Iron Man.

Asylum Challenge: Day 14

Finally Wicked Whims may be calming down lol. While nothing that explicit will be shown, just something to keep in mind, I guess? Also I'd installed a new skin default accidentally so the Sims look a little different to usual.

We're on the Granny Grind, yes. And Lilac finally got her first Plopsy sale, let's go!

Level Two: Thread Setter

Two shots of Vlad's Trendi outfit for its many fans. Lilac's probably wondering if she can knit him a scarf to go along with it. While otherwise I like the Nifty Knitting pack, wasted opportunity with the lack of accessories. A standalone scarf or two (and some gloves and mittens) would have been so cute. Like how? A scarf is many people's first ever knitting project.

Lou came over for a visit. He likely came over for more than that, but Lilac was like "not now, I have an aspiration to complete."

Having sniffed his way into more than his fair share of my saves in the past, he understood that well enough and was happy just to vibe.

"And then he ran away shrieking like 'bat out!'" Rory recounting the time she threw down on Wolfgang's behalf.

Time to autonomously sit down next to a transformed werewolf and get tense moodlets! Rory's likely reading up on how to still further humiliate Vlad next time.

With Rory out of the room (I've been getting her to use her LUNAR HOWL ability every night to reset her woof-woof traits, and she rolled the one where she hates loud noises), Lilac finally checked off the last goal of this stage.

Level Two: Thread Setter

Vlad set the table for an early dinner and Lilac was the only one who used it 😔

Once more Rory was brimming over with Fury, so I took her and Lilac over to Moonwood Mill. Fortunately she snapped out of it pretty quickly.

Much to my irritation, I realised that there was nothing nearby that Lilac could sit on and knit. So I somehow (I think it was an UI Cheats function) got a bunch of household objects to appear in the space and kept the bed, as it looked the least out of place here.

Rory very enthusiastic about some grilled fruit.

Lily very enthusiastic about Lilac becoming a Friend of the Moonwood Collective. The greatest people you will ever meet!

So now she's friends of both packs, and yet has still to unlock the WEREWOLF ALLY trait.

Having established that he and Lilac are now on sleepover and fur braiding terms, Kristopher only then sat next to her on the shiny new abandoned bed to re-read The Lord of the Swings.

The rest of the pack soon joined in the excitement. No, nothing... Whimsical happened, just some cute High School Years bed sitting style animations.

Lilac likewise agreed that it was a solid 'get' for the Collective HQ. Nah, I think she'd just finished another project.

Level Three: Dream Weaver

❌ Complete 10 Excellent Quality Knittables (2/10) ❌ Successfully Gift 3 Knittables ✅ Achieve Level 6 of the Knitting Skill ❌ Successfully Show Off Your Knitted Sweater to Another Sim

Since Lilac has the SELF-ASSURED trait, her overriding mood seems to be 'confident' rather than 'inspired.' So those excellent quality knittables are going to take a while.

Well, I should have specified that nothing Whimsical happened 'at that point in time.' Lilac and Lou evidently had an IOU.

And then once more we returned home to Vlad napping outside in one of the party bushes. I think because the self-care club has 'sleeping' as one of its preferred activities, and since he has the weakness where he can only sleep in a coffin, the devs probably didn't factor in those.
