Simpishly's Sims 4 Holidays

I'd never really done much customizing with household calendars, perhaps because it was so cluttered with EA events. But ever since downloading @zerbu's brilliant Schedule Festivals Yourself mod, my families' calendars have been looking really empty.

Y'all. I get it now. I'm obsessed. I wrote out an entire year's worth of holidays for my Sims.

Caveats:

None of my holidays are particularly original. I'm an American, it's a very Americanized calendar, lol.

I also kept Christian-equivalent holidays (Winterfest = Christmas, and I added Springfest = Easter) BUT I found this awesome post on Reddit that gives ideas for Jewish Sims holiday equivalents! I can't wait to swap those in for some households.

Every holiday should have at least one EA tradition, but I did include CC traditions. I also incorporated all City Living festivals from Zerbu's mod one time each, plus a few from Snowy Escape and Life and Death. The rest I plan to schedule if/when they are relevant to each household.

i really like britechester because it has that european-city vibe that takes me back home. i like to follow a certain style for the builds i use in britechester, usually influenced by french and british traditional-cities architecture.

i don't know if the same happens to you too, but i really struggle to find non-residential cc-free lots. so today, i bring you a list of community lots you could use in britechester. you can also check my other britechester builds suggestions post here (i won't repeat them in this list).

and because i really depend on lot sizes and maps to picture-build the world i wanna put my sims living in, i leave you a reference map with lot sizes legends so you can see which build fits where :)

LEPacy Challenge ♡

Hi everyone, I know that I said I would refresh my Mitski Legacy Challenge but I got inspired to make my own version of the LEPacy Challenge. If you don't know what this is, it is a legacy challenge where every generation is centered around an expansion pack. This was originally created for The Sims 3 by @simpishly and has been converted to The Sims 4 by the original creator and @anneliesembsims. However, I wanted to make a version of the challenge that is strictly Expansion Packs (with some optional inclusions of other packs).

So, I did. Every generation has 2-5 options of gameplay that come with background stories, goals and requirements. So far it only has 10 generations, which consist of the first 10 Expansion Packs (Get to Work through Snowy Escape). I decided to only do these packs as it creates the perfect number 10 and I do not have the two newest EPs and have not played with Cottage Living yet!

There are also some general rules to the challenge, which are:

No cheats unless the Goals/Requirements say otherwise! (Can use freerealestate for the first home of the first generation but for no generation after)

You must complete every Goal before the next heir is a Young Adult and/or your current heir dies

Can play on any lifespan (normal is recommended)

If the Goals/Requirements do not mention kids, marriage, traits, aspirations, careers, what world to live in etc., that is all up to you

You do not have to follow my background stories and can create your own

The order in which you do the challenge is optional; you can start with Generation 10 and make your ways to Generation 1, mix and match, etc. The whole point is to complete 1 option of each generation, therefore the order does not matter.

Goals/Requirements with options separated by OR simply mean to choose 1 of the options and any that say OPTIONAL are not required and can be added to create more challenge

Anywaysssss... it is way too long for me to type here so I have the Google Doc that I wrote everything on linked in the title and in a link down below. Please tell me if any of the goals/requirements I have created are impossible, incorrect or just extremely difficult to do! Hi besties. I’m sorry to have done this except no I’m not. Welcome to the save I’ve taken to calling Sandwich.tv.

What’s it about? in 2014 or 15, I made this disgusting little sim. then, in 2016 I used him in a fake legacy for an elaborate April Fool’s joke. now, in 2021 I dug him out of his grave and am presenting you with this: the sims 4ification of the worst sim I’ve ever conceived. this was originally going to be another one-off save (hence the stupid name) but I figured I could simply just continue the displeasure that is his life and make it a stupid legacy.

there will be 5 gens, very loose lepacy theme. because this is just the save I hop into when my other saves get frustrating or boring. there will be absolutely no story or effort, but there will be goals because I’m still a goal-oriented person. lastly, anyone born or created into this save will have stupid ugly names, and I promise you they get really bad.

I wanna give a shoutout to @simsandgiggles, @simpishly, @toxoplasmajuice and @threadsoftheeasternseas for providing me with Sims as spouses! <3 sometimes we all need to take these games and this community a little less seriously. hence why I am here.

This is the beginning of my lepacy. I am starting out with Florence Roman in sunset valley. Only base game and all stuff packs are installed as I hate only having base game so I’m settling with stuff packs! I’ve never done any type of challenge like this before so this is a first. I’m hoping I can do the whole thing but we shall see. This challenge was created by simpishly on tumblr which you can find here. There is very little rules for each generation, so I will be incorporating some other bits to it from dollybats all in one legacy challenge, which can be found here. Hope you enjoy this, especially if you like lepacies!

It’s of no surprise to anyone that Bianca, a volunteer at the Papyrus Memorial Library, is a big bookworm. It could be that they’re incredibly smart and have read most of the library by this point, or the fact they prefer to be alone most of the time (when not helping patrons that is). But if you were to strike up a conversation with Bianca, you’d learn that they’re something of a green thumb, and they’re actually quite a good person. (You should see how much they donate to helping the environment!)

it was hard, but i was able to make her with base game items...i think the only thing she has that is not base game is her hair and it is story contact...but anyway lets give you a little info on my entry

Many like to call her a genius but she considers herself just a friendly bookworm. She likes to listen to her soul music while she reads a good book or plays a game of chess on the computer, being the computer whiz that she is. She has a love for chess that tops all other things and she hopes her luckiness helps her become the most well known Chess Legend there is.

Washington Lepacy: Larissa 1.1

She's a heavy sleeper, hot headed, a loner, neurotic and a schmoozer.

Her LTW is CEO of a Mega Corporation

The first thing Larissa did after moving into her new home in Sunset Valley was to check her stove.

"Definitely off. Good"

"Let's see...Ah! Business!"

Larissa figured it was a good idea to get an in with the boss

Her neighbour, Marty Keaton, came to welcome her to the neighborhood

There were hearts

Larissa was smitten

Since Marty is married and all, I decided to have Larissa meet other people.

She ran into Thornton at the park

Larissa attempted her first meal

Marty called in the middle of it and, of course, Larissa had to answer it

Well...that went as well as I expected

Larissa took up painting since this house is kinda sad looking

Larissa invited Thornton over and he was surprisingly faithful to Morgana.

Thus, this relationship ended up staying platonic

Since Larissa is poor, she went dumpster diving for treasure

While she did find some things to sell, the nausea came on quick

Larissa wanted to learn the fishing skill so she spent her afternoon at the science centre

While she was fishing, Marty asked to hang out

They went to a movie and then grabbed some good...…they then decided to sit as far away from eachother as possible

Thornton being faithful to Morgana, Marty not being faithful to Justine...

I'm convinced this is the twilight zone

Well since we established that Marty is the worst and Larissa is head over heels...she went for it

They entered an illicit affair since these two apparently can't keep their hands to themselves

Ruminations

Thinking about it, my two winners - McQuoddy back in Nov 2015, and Aisling just yesterday - really couldn’t be more different from each other in practically every single point. Some of the differences are more subtle than others, but most of them are pretty blatant.

McQuoddy is a Berry sim, based on a white man. Aisling is a Vanilla sim, albeit also white-coded.

While both of them are non-cis, McQuoddy is DMAC and masculine-presenting, and uses conventional pronouns in standard settings, while Aisling is DFAC, feminine-presenting for the most part, and uses non-standard pronouns.

McQuoddy is a witch. Aisling, despite being a Supernatural Fan with ties to a Fee Marraine, is not an occult zerself.

McQuoddy has a lifelong physical disability, and only gained a mental one (PTSD) post-MMBC. Aisling got zer PTSD and subsequent food neurosis prior to zer MMBC, due to an unrelated attack.

McQuoddy and Aisling don’t share a single trait between them.

McQuoddy shares one trait with Rose Quartz. Ironically, so does Aisling, but none with Ginette.

McQuoddy has no CC at all, not even custom freckles (I think. I checked, and am pretty sure). Aisling is at the other extreme, with three pieces of CC.

McQuoddy won his MMBC all by himself; Aisling is a co-victor with @simpishly’s Dominic, having won the Ginette division.

McQuoddy had quite a few odds stacked against him for his victory. He was accused of being the murderer three times in total, and garnered a high proportion of the votes across the MMBC even when he was not so targeted. However, I was almost always confident in his innocence. In contrast, Aisling never got the most votes in any poll ze appeared in, and thus was never accused. Despite my own fears that ze was the killer, especially in light of Cree being innocent (don’t ask), ze was treated as innocent, or at least not as guilty, by most parties the whole way through.

This ties directly into the previous difference: there were plenty of people, at least if I remember right, that Rose Quartz ranked over McQuoddy in terms of relationships. As a result of the accusations, her relationship with him got quite rocky at times, with him only climbing his way up in late game when other, closer people got eliminated. And even in the beginning of the post-MMBC legacy, it still took a few ‘timeline’ weeks for her to warm up to him physically (though this I also attribute to a difference in Rose Quartz’ character as compared to Ginette’s). Aisling, however - I don’t think ze ever had a negative? interaction with Ginette? ever? Zer placement in the relationship ranking stayed quite consistently high, and they kissed zer far earlier comparatively than Rose Quartz did McQuoddy. At one point, I think only Rochette outranked zer, and that was in the mid-game. Mid-game McQuoddy could not claim such luck.

But there are some similarities between them too:

I put the sexuality of both in my tables as “Females”. 

Again, this is more of a bacheloret comparison, but Rose Quartz and Ginette share the traits of Family Oriented and Hopeless Romantic, as well as a Lifetime Wish.

Both victories were so fucking cool and amazing and gay.

I was fine-tuning the library lot in my Brightpoint save and, being a librarian currently entrenched in library school, was vaguely thinking about my library’s commitment to being a welcoming space for everyone. I realized I wanted my Brightpoint Public Library lot to reflect that. Actually, I wanted every lot in my Brightpoint save to reflect that. But I also really, really liked the style of the EA bathroom door...

With a little bit of Photoshop, some object cloning/mesh replacement, and a productive hour of my time, I created these Gender Neutral Bathroom Doors. They exactly match the EA ones (down to the Create-A-Style presets), except Sims of either/any gender expression can walk through the door.

Base game compatible. §125. Buyable only on community lots.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always disliked the equine training/racing posts. They’re too large, too obtrusive. After years of putting up with them, I decided I’d finally had enough.

Presenting the “You’re A Star” Equine Racing Markers! You'll become a star jockey with these on the ground! They are recolorable and come with a nice grassy green preset. Very subtle and fully functional. The horses don’t even run over them while training.

You’ll obviously want Pets to use these, but no other EPs/SPs are needed. :)
