When the twins were little they tried to say each others names, and Octavia ended up calling Luke Lucky and it stuck, Luke tried to say Octavia’s middle name Wren but instead it was Winnie.

Octavia has a winnie the pooh bear she got from Luke when she was 3, and it travels in her suitcase with her everywhere especially when she left for the NHL, it was a reminder of Luke.

When they went to collage one of the first things they did was go get a tattoo together, Luke got a moon tattoo for Octavia, and Octavia got a sun tattoo for Luke, they both got it by their hips so it’s hidden from everyone and it’s something just for the twins.

Their draft was at home because of Covid, so they were sitting on their couch together, the twins had their hands tightly gripped for each other and they hugged each other first. After the draft when they had a moment alone they hugged each other crying because they realized they accomplished their dreams but at the same time they won’t complete their dreams on the same team.

Luke and Octavia growing up never not wanted to share a room, they always were begging to keep sharing a room with each other. When they did get their own rooms most nights Luke would end up cuddled in his twins bed.

Octavia and Luke had made a language when they were younger only they could understand and they use to only speak in their language, even when they are older they sometimes still uses it because it annoys Jack.

Octavia and Luke have always called each other their best friends, and they always side with each other in anything. There hasn’t been a time they got in a fight because there’s never been anything they ever needed to argue about.

It was really difficult when Octavia moved to Toronto as it’s the first time they aren’t living together or playing on the same team anymore. It was a bit harder for Octavia as she was moving from her twin and her family, Luke was only twenty minutes from their parents and he had his teammates.

Jack realized how much Luke missed their sister when Luke moved to New Jersey and Jack caught Luke sobbing in his bed after getting off call with Octavia. Octavia cried herself to sleep many times in Toronto expect she was all alone, Luke either had his teammates or their brother Jack.

Luke for their thirteen birthday got them matching bracelet with each other’s initials on them and they both still always wear them.

When they had a game Luke would always tape the blade of both of their sticks, and Octavia would always tape both of the handles, it was very weird the first time they had a game with out each other and had to tape their whole stick by themselves.

Luke would watch when their mother did Octavia’s hair to learn and he has always been the best at doing her hair.

A lot of twin siblings don’t like being called the twins but Octavia and Luke honestly like it and enjoy being called the twins.

Luke and Octavia has always played their best hockey together, they have always played on the same side of the ice and working together they are always unstoppable on the ice together, something the Devils and the Leafs noticed.

Luke and Octavia have always told each other everything, never keeping any secrets from each other so when Luke found out Octavia didn’t tell him she denied joining the Maple Leafs to play a season at Michigan he was definitely hurt.

you met šimon while he'd been in new jersey for training camp. he'd just been drafted to the nhl, while you'd just gotten a new job at a local cafe.

in any other world, you two wouldn't have even met each other -- let alone start a relationship.

it just so happened that he was recommended the cafe by another devils player, and decided to check it out on the morning that you were working. you made him a coffee, suggesting one of your favourites because he wasn't sure how to order.

after that, things just blossomed.

you exchanged numbers, texting and facetiming whenever you could. you went on dates, you wore his jersey to games, you spent all of your time together.

but you still hadn't gone public.

you were dating, but neither of you wanted to be poked and prodded at by the media. especially since he was called up to the nhl.

in fact, you hadn't even told the team yet.

it's not like it would be the end of the world, but they believed you were best friends. and considering the way some of them could never keep their mouths shut, you guys decided it was simply better that way.

never denied, but never confirmed.

you sat with the other wags, dressed in a nemec jersey, and ready for this game to be over. the devils were leading 5-1, with three minutes left in the third, and šimon had just scored his first hattrick.

it was a big achievement, you knew that. and you just wanted to go home and celebrate it.

which was why the second the game was over, you jumped up and clapped louder than anyone around you. after the stars of the game were announced (šimon getting the first star), you waited for a little longer before heading to the locker room.

by now, most guys were headed home, leaving only šimon in the locker room. he'd been the last to do media, and was going to be the last to leave.

"good game," you fist bumped nico as he walked by.

"thanks, y/n/n," he grinned. "šimon's still in the locker room. he'll be out in a few minutes."

you waved as nico walked away, poking your head inside the room. just like you predicted, he was the only one left. his back was facing you as he pulled his shirt on.

you walked up to him, wrapping your arms around his back.

šimon froze for half a second, before relaxing once he realized it was only you. he turned around, a wide grin on his face as he pulled you into a proper hug.

"i'm so proud of you," you smiled, fixing the collar of his shirt. "look at you, a big shot now. scoring hattricks and stuff. how're you gonna make sure it doesn't get to your head?"

šimon laughed, swaying you gently with his arms around your waist. "hmm, i'm not sure. i do have this wonderful girlfriend who's very good at making sure my head doesn't get too big. i'm probably going to have to spend more time with her to increase her effect on me."

you rolled your eyes, a stupid grin on your face.

šimon laughed at your expression, pressing a kiss to your nose.

"you're so cute," he grinned, pressing another kiss to your cheek.

he continued peppering kisses over your face, pausing before he dipped down to capture your lips in his. you found yourself melting into him, your hand coming up to play with the hair on the nape of his neck. his arms gripped your waist, doing the job of holding you up since your legs seemed to have failed you.

the two of you pulled apart as a loud bang sounded, followed by something clattering to the floor.

there stood luke hughes, a sheepish look on his face as he chased his waterbottle.

"sorry guys," he muttered. "forgot this. don't mind me, i'm heading out now. continue." he paused, "just don't have sex on my stall, that's where i draw the line."

"we - we're not--" šimon stuttered.

"oh please, don't pull that she's my best friend bullshit again," he said dismissively. "everyone on the team knows you're together, and everyone thinks you guys are adorable. i might be changing my mind if you have sex in the locker room."

"luke, stop talking," you told him.

"yes ma'am."

"and get out if you're not missing anything else."

"yes ma'am."

you and šimon waited for luke to leave, before turning back to each other.

"let's face it," you shrugged. "it's not like we were doing a good job at keeping this a secret."

Simon wasn't one to get angry but the few times you did see him angry honestly scared you. He would never hurt you but you hated confrontation and sometimes he wouldn't let stuff go. But this time instead of giving him the usual silent treatment, you argued back which made the moment worse.

"You're not an athlete I wouldn't expect you to understand how much this means to me!" "I do! Why do you think I come to almost every game? For YOU!"

A/n: Hey guys! I'm back with another work! This was requested by a nonnie so I hope you like it!! I just wanna say that I've never been to a draft and I have no idea how it goes so this is purely a guess and a work of fiction. Hope you enjoy and as always feedback is always welcome!

Draft day... possibly the most nerve-wracking day in a young hockey players career and yet here was Cutter worrying more about the girl sitting at the table with the Philadelphia flyers staff than the actual draft ahead of him. Who was she? Cutter didn't know but he did know that she was hot. Like potentially the prettiest girl he had ever seen and she definitely looked around his age.

Cutter wasn't really looking for a realationship right now. He is 18, with his whole career ahead of him. He isn't one of those guys who want to focus on only hockey and never get a girlfriend, but right now just isn't the right time. Next year he's gonna be in Boston and long distance wasn't really appealing to him.

That girl though, the one sitting at the flyers table, there is something special about her. Cutter knew it from the moment he first saw her. For him she wouldn't be just the girl he hooked up with on draft night, no, she would be different, something more meaningful, something more permanent.

The draft was about to start and cutter was sitting with his family. He really had no idea where he would be picked. He was pretty sure he would be top ten but he really didn't know. Philadelphia has the 5th pick and honestly is that a team he would love to be on...no, but he needed to meet that girl. He has made it his mission to meet her by the end of the night and being drafted to Philadelphia would make it a whole lot easier.

Pick 1 goes to Juraj Slafkovsky. Surprising that it's not Shane Wright but good for him he deserves it. Pick 2 is Simon Nemec and up next is cutter's good friend logan. He's happy for them but when is it his turn? At 4 is Shane and then it's pick 5. The flyers have pick 5. He knows it's a real possibility that he gets drafted by them. They had, had a few meetings and he knows they are interested in him.

"It's gonna be you next" he hears someone, his dad, say to him quietly.

"Maybe... there's lots of talent in this draft it could be anyone" Cutter replies with.

"But it's gonna be you" and with that they quiet down as they see the philly's executive team head onto the stage. The girl, the one Cutter still has no idea what her name is stands in front of the mic. She starts to speak.

"With the fifth overall pick in the 2022 nhl draft the Philadelphia Flyers are proud to select from the USA national development program... Cutter Gauthier."

To Cutter in that moment it felt like everything stopped. He had just been drafted... drafted to a fucking nhl team, and yet the girl was still in his mind. At least this made it a lot easier to talk to her.

He got out of his seat and without really thinking about it started to hug his family. He felt lIke he was floating and not really conscious. He hugged each family member but it didn't really register. All he could think about was being drafted fifth overall to the flyers and her. He knew he would never get her out of his mind. Not if he ended up with her, not if he never ever talked to her.

He made his way to the stage and and walks up the stairs. He shakes hands and puts on the jersey. He realises as he's putting the jersey on how close he is to her. He stands and takes pictures, then immediately gets ushered to do an interview. He didn't even get a chance to say one thing to her.

He goes through the interview and answers the questions you would expect he would get asked. How are you feeling, what's the experience like, how do you feel about going to the flyers organization, you know stuff like that. He answers the questions without really thinking. His mind is... elsewhere.

He sees her, the girl, walking over to him towards the end of the interview. They wrap it up quickly and Cutter gets up.

"Umm, hey I'm y/n, I'm on the flyers staff and they sent me to get you." Says the girl, no, y/n. Y/n, a pretty name for a pretty girl, thought Cutter.

Cutter follows you, as you weave threw the crowd. Trying to make small talk and also trying to get to know you better he asks "so how old are you?" Asks Cutter.

You laugh and answer "same as you."

"That's cool. I'm Cutter by the way." He says, not thinking about the fact that you definitely already know his name.

"Yeah, believe it or not I kinda know that. I happened to announce your name tonight." You reply laughing once again. You find yourself laughing a lot in the short time you've been chatting with Cutter.

"So I've gotta drop you off here for more interviews" Cutter groans and you turn on your heals to leave.

"Wait, uh could I maybe get your number?" You hear Cutter ask shyly.

You pause for a moment then respond "Sure pretty boy." Cutter passes his phone to you and you quickly add your number.

"I'll talk to you later?" He tells you but it sounds more like a question than a statment.

"Of course, as soon as your done your 100 interviews."

"You'll be on my mind the whole time."

Jack and Octavia have always been the most competitive with each other, definitely keeping score of every win and lost against each other in anything, from tennis matches to how long they can stay on the wake board.

Octavia saw the interview of Jack asking how to cook broccoli and has never let him forget it. She FaceTime Jack telling him how to cook Broccoli totally teasing him for it and for his next birthday sent him a broccoli steamer and a how to cook vegetables book for young kids.

Jack and Quinn quickly learned from a young age that Octavia and Luke never wanted to be on different teams, they would both shake their heads and scrunch their noses only wanting to be on the same team.

Octavia obviously watched a lot of Jack playing hockey growing up and she never noticed she picked up a lot of Jack’s play style, no one really noticed it till one of games in the NHL and she did a play looking exactly like Jack.

Quinn sometimes needs peace and quiet when at the lake house with everyone over so most of the time he goes up to Octavia’s art room and will bring a book and lay on her couch enjoying the piece and quiet as Octavia paints.

Quinn and Octavia definitely make the most sarcastic quips and have made many inside jokes over the years, Jack is definitely just sassy to everyone and Luke is sometimes sassy but Quinn and Octavia just make little comments that are hilarious.

When Octavia was young she would always clap and smile at the moon always saying, “Moon! Moon! Moon!” So Quinn and Jack quickly gave her the nickname little moon, which still stuck but it’s more moony now.

The four have always been protective of each other and always worrying about each other getting hurt on the ice, so they started doing three taps to the ice, or their leg or the rink wall if they are okay after a bad hit or a fight.

Luke was the sibling who was the most persistent on weekly Facetimes with all of them. Luke knew Octavia would agree if he asked her and he could use the puppy eyes to his older brothers. So whenever the four weren’t all together they have always FaceTimed at least once a week.

Jack is the one who is taking photos wanting a lot of photos of his siblings and the memories so Quinn and Octavia make Jack bribe them with something sometimes, like paying for breakfast or dinner if he wants a photo.

Quinn, Luke and Octavia never lets Jack forget he’s the one who went to school the least so he technically the least smart out of the three of them, Jack is always annoyed when he’s reminded.

Quinn, Jack and Luke all call Octavia’s dog Louie their nephew and Octavia is never suprised when a package comes for stuff for Louie. Especially since Toronto is very cold Louie wears a lot of clothes in the winter, the three always send so much. The three also all got him little hockey jerseys for their teams.

Vera opened her phone sitting on her couch having just said goodbye to Jamie and Trevor and would see them in a few weeks, she pulled up facetime and hit her brothers contact, he answered it within a few rings and she could see him in his workout clothes.

“Hello Schwöschterli.” Nico smiled at his baby sister, he frowned slightly seeing her red and puffy eyes he knew something was wrong.

“Hi Neeks.” Vera smiled softly at her brother, she ran her hand over both her dogs heads.

“What’s wrong?” Nico questioned sitting down on an empty chair and staring at her in concern.

“I broke up with Fred.” Vera whispered out loud looking away from the camera.

Nico felt his heart drop knowing how much Vera cares for Fredrick and he could tell something was wrong lately between them but Vera was very tight lipped about the issue not wanting to talk about it, “Oh little sister…”

“It’s okay it’s something i should’ve done a long time ago.” Vera shook her head knowing she would have to eventually tell her brother how bad her relationship ended up getting but now wasn’t the time for it, “Actually i have some good news.”

“Yeah?” Nico softly asked, letting her change the subject.

“How do you feel about us joining you in your apartment building.” Vera nonchalantly told him smiling mischievously at her brother.

Nico furrowed his eyebrows before freezing, “Your moving?!?” He quickly spluttered out in shock.

“I thought a new city could do some good and being near you is always a plus.” Vera smiled softly shrugging but also truthfully missing living by family.

“Well i’m very excited to have you live here.” Nico widely grinned, “When are you moving?”

“Tomorrow.” Vera soflty chuckled still suprised she got everything to work out so fast.

“Tomorrow!” Nico looked even more happy as he was going to see his sister tomorrow and she is moving to live in the same building as him. Nico heard his name being called by one of his teammates as he went down a hall in the arena to go talk to sister, “Hey i have to to go but i’ll see you tomorrow?” Nico smiled at his sister.

“I’ll see you tomorrow Neeks.” Vera smiled nodding at him before ending the call.

Simon looked up from where he finished a set of his work out routine and looked at his girlfriend who was reading sitting in chair but he could tell she was cold.

Simon had invited her to join him during his workout at a gym outside and she didn’t think it was going to be cold because it is outside but it’s very windy and now she so freezing.

“What’s wrong láska moja?” Simon asked her as he took a small break drinking some water, even if he had an idea what is wrong.

“I’m cold.” She told her boyfriend literally shivering as she rubbed her arms trying to warm up.

“Come here.” Simon told her softly holding out a hand for her making her perk up and grab onto his hand standing up.

She expected a hug but instead he brought her to one of the workout machines and started to explain it.

Simon looked at his girlfriend after he finished explaining and saw her glaring at him, “What?” Simon asked cluelessly to what he might of done to make her glare at him.

“Why are you telling me how to do this?” She questioned.

"You said you’re cold." Simon simply answered looking confused.

She closed her eyes trying to not facepalm at her boyfriend, "Yes. But I thought you’d hug me, not make me do exercises!"

Simon made a face realizing, “Oh.” He sheepishly smiled at her opening his arms up.

“Finally.” She mumbled as she happily melted into his embrace sighing happily at how warm he is.

“Better?” Simon softly asked rubbing her back and arms trying to warm her up faster, She hummed happily.

Vera walked into her living room bringing the rest of the presents she needed to wrap and saw Jack sitting on the floor with Aries and Apollo next to him.

Vera set all the presents on the coffee table and turned and looked at the present Jack was wrapping and she couldn’t help but laugh softly because it was such a Jack thing to wrap presents that messy.

“What?” Jack looked up smiling at the sound of her laughter.

“J, do you know how to wrap presents?” Vera sat next to him looking at her friend and the person she’s has feelings for with a fond smile.

Jack grimaced and scratched his head sheepishly, “Not really, i usually just put everything in bag.” Jack had went Christmas shopping with Vera and wanted to spend more time with her so he said he would wrap all of them.

“Why don’t i teach you.” Vera softly asked pulling out a fresh piece of wrapping paper.

“Please.” Jack eagerly nodded and smiled as he pet the dogs.

Vera put the present in the middle of the sheet of paper and showed Jack how to fold the paper on both sides and had Jack tape it, she grabbed the ribbon and put it around the present and Jack stuck on a tag.

“There! Not to hard.” Vera smiled seeing the present look pretty good.

“You did most of it Lily.” Jack looked at her fondly and he gently reached over brushing his thumb under her eye making her freeze and look at him, he laughed softly showing her his thumb, “Eyelash.”

“Thank you.” Vera smiled looking away from Jack as her hair feel over her face hiding her red cheeks.

Luke gently slid off the couch covering Octavia with the blanket letting her continue to sleep in, after they had stayed up late last night on the basement couch talking until they fell asleep.

He quickly and quietly walked to his room in the lake house getting ready and slid on his slides and heading up the stairs and no surprise seeing the rest of his family alreadly awake especially since Luke and Octavia would sleep all day if they could.

“Morning Lukey.” Jack sent a smile at his brother and Quinn looked up from his phoen sending a smile at Luke, Ellen and Jim looked up from the puzzle they were doing at the kitchen island.

“Luke! Are you leaving now?” Ellen smiled at her son, knowing what he’s been planning for his sister.

“Yeah i’ll be home soon.” Luke anwsered his mother sending a nod to the rest of them before grabbing the car keys heading out of the house and heading to the car in the driveway, he hopped into his car and started the drive.

Ten minutes later he pulled up to the address and parked his car. Luke walked up to the front door and knocked, the door opening revealing a woman that looked around his mother’s age, “You must be Luke.” She warmly smiled at the boy, Luke nodded, “Come on he’s back here.” She led him into her house through the living room and into the dinning room where a small crate was on the table, “Here he is.”

Luke smiled bending down so he was leveled with the crate seeing the puppy, “He’s adorable.” Luke smiled putting his hand on the cage letting the puppy sniff him before the puppy licked Luke’s hand.

“He is.” The woman smiled at the puppy, “Well you already paid so you are good to go. If you have any problems or questions my number is open.” The woman shook Luke’s hand.

“Thank you!” Luke smiled shaking her hand appreciating how the woman made everything a super easy experience.

“Of course! I hope she enjoys this.” The woman smiled having been told who the puppy is for.

“Oh she will.” Luke grinned knowing how much Octavia has always wanted this certain puppy.

Luke walked out of the house to his car opening the passenger door putting the dog crate into the passenger seat putting the seat belt around it.

Luke quickly walked around the car and slid into the drivers seat seeing the puppy looking at him, “Hi buddy, i’m your Uncle Luke.” Luke put his finger back at the crate making the puppy nudge his finger.

Luke started the car and drove back home, he pulled back into the driveway shutting the car off. He unclicked the seat belt grabbing the crate and carried it to the house.

Luke walked into the house hearing the chatter of his family still in the kitchen together, “I’m home!” Luke walked into the kitchen seeing Octavia awake and no surpise by the espresso machines. Octavia was focused on her coffee so she didn’t look up when Luke walked in, not seeing him set the crate right onto the island behind her and Ellen and Jack both filming her.

Octavia turned around her coffee mug againt her lips but froze seeing a dog crate on the island, but not any puppy in the crate, but a chocolate and cream mini long hair dachshund. Her dream dog since she was a child.

Octavia opens and closed her mouth before reaching behind her setting her coffee cup on the counter, “What is this.” Octavia finally stammered out.

“What you don’t like your new puppy.” Luke teased his twin sister with a smile.

“My puppy!” Octavia looked at her twin in shock.

“Who else.” Luke softly smiled at his best friend.

Octavia smiled taking a step to the crate and opening the door letting the puppy sniff her hand and the puppy immediately starting licking her hand making her giggle, she slowly and gently picked up the puppy who immediately cuddled up into her arms licking her cheek. Octavia happily giggled feeling her eyes mist up holding the puppy.

Octavia was giggling happily looking over at her twin brother who was watching her with a fond smile, she looked at him and he immediately stepped closer to her making her immediately pull him into a hug with her free arm, “Thank you lucky.”

“Of course Winnie, i wanted you too have someone with you.” Luke whispered back to his twin, knowing how difficult it’s been for them the last year but it’s been harder for Octavia as she lives alone.

Octavia held onto him tighter before reluctantly pulling back feeling the puppy lick her cheek again, she looked down at the puppy in her arm, “I think you need a name buddy.” She scratched behind his ear, “What about Louie.” The puppy made a tiny bark, “Yeah Louie Hughes sounds good.” Octavia smiled at her puppy.

Jack set down his phone before quickly walking over to the puppy, letting the puppy sniff him before petting Louie.

Quinn smiled at his siblings before letting Louie smell him as well, Quinn quickly gave the puppy some pets.

“He needs a lot of stuff.” Octavia realized knowing they haven’t had a dog since they all lived in Toronto years ago.

“Shopping!” Ellen excitedly smiled knowing she could get her daughter to do some type of shopping for once.

“This once only.” Octavia warned smiling at her mother. Truthfully she still went shopping every once in a while with her mother because Octavia knew how much her mother likes shopping with her.
