nov. 26 and I've finished ALL my christmas shopping except for one person (sister who has yet to send out her wishlist). I feel like I've beat the system.

#the real problem is mailing most of it LOL #I was going to try to pack it in a suitcase but I got my dad this simmering sauce #I'd have to check it bc it's too big for carryon liquid requirements #and I am a CARRY-ON PERSON. hate paying to check luggage. hate waiting for it. I made up the potato salad plus the sauce and rice mixture for tomorrow's dinner with friends so all I'll have to do is heat things up and make the omelets. We haven't been able to get together in quite a while, so it'll be nice, but tomorrow also happens to be Eye Appointment Day and I don't know what to expect from this place or how long they'll keep me, and of course I'll be walking back home, so hopefully I can make it in enough time before the guests arrive.

I found a pair of glasses online that are exactly what I'm looking for, so once they get me my prescription, I think I'll go that route.

#what do you MEAN you bought the ingredients for and completely cooked a lasagne in the max 20-30 min this other guy spent in the shower #LOSING ITTTTT #I love lasagne but I almost never make it because it takes fucking ages #chopping the vegetables for the sauce alone……. ages #then making the sauce.#while that’s simmering you can get to the bechamel sauce #and then you get to making the layers and THE N it has to cook in the oven for at least 30 mins

made the most delicious honey garlic glaze for my fried tofu tonight I will dream about her

#RECIPE TIME #1 tbsp neutral oil (I used sesame) + 1/4 cup hot water + minced garlic + gochujang + soy sauce + honey + granulated sugar #(this is for the glaze the tofu is basically just cut and fry in the same neutral oil with salt + pepper)#aside from the oil I did not measure the rest of those ingredients exactly BUT #the recipe I used said 10 cloves garlic 2 tbsp honey 1 tbsp gochujang 3 tbsp soy sauce 2 tbsp sugar #I do think I ended up using slightly more honey than it called for bc I wanted a stickier sauce + I wanted the sweetness to come out more #oh yeah and simmer that sauce on medium high heat until u can scrape the spoon against the bottom and it stays separated 👍🏼#text post

I made homemade Indian curry for dinner and it was my first time making it and both me and my partners first time trying homemade curry in general (I've had instant massaman curry and butter chicken at my work but that's it, and they had never tried any) and it slapped my balls clean off. and my partner loved it too. I love cooking

#nerd alert #its so so satisfying when i try to make something for the first time and it comes out good #im also very confident in my cooking ability #i followed a recipe for the sauce but immediately strayed from it when it didnt specifically suit my needs #(i needed it more watery bc i was cooking potatoes in it so i like. doubled the chicken stock and added extra coconut milk)#(so then i also added more spices and a bit more tomato paste so the flavor wouldnt be too mild)#(and then after having it simmer for a while the flavor was actually too much so i added some heavy cream bc i was out of coconut milk)#anyways i also made coconut rice and got some naan on sale when we went shopping. it all turned out SOOOOO GOOD
