Gable (Campaign: Skyjacks):

7ft tall silver-haired thembo of a fallen angel. was the literal sword of god until they killed him! reasons slightly unclear but probably sure to forbidden queer love! super caring for their friends. has one friend they have known for hundreds of years who they HATE but are bound to by the red string of fate. their sword is a part of them, they can sheathe it into a tattoo. they start out indistinct at the edges but as they have continued on through the campaign they have become more and more distinct. they became a flaming engine of justice to kill their friends shitheaded older brother who was following him. they have learned enough necromancy to allow other fallen angels to die, even though they typically cannot. they fly giant birds in to battle.

When anyone admits they are attracted to them, Gable trips over their words and absolutely swaglessly ends up sounding stupider and sexier by the end of the conversation; the will they/won't they and teasing they dish out to these (un?)lucky few is palpable. Sometimes the buster sword is on fire. They are immortal, they are cringe, they are trying to atone because they believe they are the reason the world is ruined.

Okay so aside from all of the above (giant with a matching giant flaming sword, killed god, extreme dumbass), here's some more propaganda for Gable the Godkiller.

They've escaped death multiple times with their partner in... crime? Like literally they were about to be executed in the most brutal way possible and just. Escaped and killed all their captors in the snowy wastelands.

They are the helmsperson of the Uhuru and take this job very seriously and definitely haven't left it to Bowser (you know, like from Mario) multiple times. Can steer that flying ship in horrible weather and still make it to port safely.

Healed an entire fucking hospital by cutting their hair for someone they had the hots for who was also in the hospital. Imagine being on that level of myth making in some random port city because of a hair cut.

Giant bird caretaker and also took the giant birds out on their friend's bachelor party (this was like. his Xth polyamorous marriage at this point btw) and had a fucking blast getting high on some rope and fucking around. They've also flown these birds into combat and looked cool as hell doing it (see: killing their friend's shithead of an older brother in a joust).

Had a relationship with Lucifer the Morning Star before they fell as an angel and killed God. Literally the reason the stars fell was their love for each other. The world would not look the same without Gable and they are, at the very least indirectly responsible for the creation of the Church of the Slain God and everything it represents (fantasy Catholicism).

And also yeah they are regularly tripping over themself and saying very silly things. 10/10 character we love Liz Anderson and Gable in this house

I am seeing people say that this Nicky fellow is basically trans! That's very cool! Gable is actually trans. Pronouns they/them/any presentation whatever they feel like.

Gable held a bachelor party for a BFF where the attendees hunted from their sky birds, wore dresses, and still managed to keep their eyeliner on point!

Dragonborn

Born of dragons as their name proclaims the dragonborn walk proudly through a world that greets them with fearful incomprehension. All right fuck it I'm infodumping about MRNYC under the cut

So I have this world called Modern Realism New York City that I've created wherein most species/creatures from folklore and mythology do in fact exist, with... Nebulous knowledge and understanding of this by humans (meaning some are totally in the dark and some absolutely know about it and are part of it). It is the entire world but my main characters are centred around NYC, hence the name. There are other realms/planes/etc which have some crossover with the "mortal" one, and though gods aren't really a thing as such there are other very powerful beings that exist in those other realms that occasionally do rock up in the mortal world and fuck around to varying degrees. There are vampires, werewolves, angels, demons, magic users, Fae, and most things you can probably think of.

The whole notion actually spawned around the idea of vampires and werewolves. I thought the idea of the garlic thing being BS but widely believed means that an Italian restaurant would be the perfect cover for a vampire family. They have a long standing partnership with the werewolf pack that runs the meatpacking district both for actual meat products (it is a restaurant after all) and for the blood that would otherwise be disposed of, so they don't have to worry about their supply or anyone going off the shits. In MRNYC, there's one main vampire colony and one main werewolf pack, though there are smaller packs in each of the five boroughs and a collection of werejaguars on Long Island. The colony is mostly one big Italian family, and the Wolfpack is one big Dutch family, and they've both been here for centuries at this point. The werewolves also do a lot of community work, they're very social, they hold block parties and stuff. The vampires are less so, but they do keep in touch. One of the werewolf great-grandchildren and one of the vampire grandkids are dating, their names are Katherine and Catarina respectively, they are very cute and their families are very happy for them. (There are a number of vampire subspecies as well as numerous types of weres, but the following rules apply to basically everyone). Both communities are remarkably self-policing; it takes months of preparation and understanding of the community, the change, and the consequences before someone is allowed to become either. This is not something to go into unprepared, and consent is incredibly important. (I did take some inspiration here from the Jewish conversion system e.g. it's not active and in order to do so you gotta COMMIT and DO YOUT RESEARCH before you're granted the opportunity.) If a bite/transformation happens by accident/maliciously, that is one of the only circumstances where seeking treatment would be considered, and if someone decided they didn't want to the community would welcome and educate them, helping them however they could. Whoever did the unconsensual transforming though... Would not be so lucky. That's a serious transgression and would be treated as such. The Manhattan pack and colony are not the only wolves and vamps on the island, just the largest collections, and they do outreach to new arrivals and have connections with other packs/colonies. There are plenty of small packs, and of course New York has universities where you'll get young members of social species away from their families for the first time, so there's a lot of outreach and connection to provide a safety net for people who need it.

Angels and demons do exist, from their respective (linked) realms, but they don't have the inherent attributes given to them by superstitious/religious humans, they're just people. They (along with most species) can interbreed with humans, although instead of creating a super powerful nightmare child they just... Have a nephil or cambion kid. Who has some of the abilities of their supernatural parent, but probably not all of them. The vast majority of those who interact with humans are "lesser" demons or angels, the Just Some Dudes of their respective realms, and it's not particularly common for "greater" ones to show up. They're in charge, they have shit to do.

While "sorcerer" is a general description that can be applied to magic users of any species, witch and warlock are actually their own species, not the same but closely related (think like Vulcans and Romulans, for example). Both are longer-lived than humans (averaging a couple centuries) and have inherent magic which presents in small ways, like oddly coloured eyes or faint patterns on the skin. Warlock blood is faintly silvery and inherently toxic, they can't be changed into vampires or werewolves, and if their blood gets on human skin it will leave a chemical burn. Witch blood isn't toxic, and they can be transformed. If you meet a magical wolf or vamp, they likely either have witch parentage or were one first.

The Fae exist. They have their own realm, but some places in the mortal world have entrances to it. The Fae have a particular attachment to Ireland (with some of Scotland and Wales as well) and are very protective of it, meaning that the vast majority of non-human activity there is either the Fae or requires their blessing. They can be particularly vindictive if they feel that their permission has not been properly asked or that someone is trespassing on their protected ground. This can lead to some... Less than favourable situations for non-fae supernatural families, unfortunately, and can be a reason people end up leaving the Isles.

There are two major protective organisations that deal with various issues and threats, as well as things that may cause problems between realms. These are the Wardens, who deal with the living, and the Reapers, who deal with the dead. Both are joinable by anyone, and are very good employers. Wardens are somewhere between Witchers, border patrol, and bounty hunters, investigating/finding/returning extradimensional creatures from whence they came and dealing with unexpected incursions. Listen, not everyone is nice. Reapers, meanwhile, deal with the dead or those manipulating the dead, as well as guiding wayward spirits home. If there's a haunting, things coming out of graves, anything of that nature, that's a Reaper's job to deal with. All Reapers are dead themselves; if someone feels like they're not done but in a... Non-haunting way, they can become a Reaper. There's a training process as well as some physical and spiritual reinforcing, but it's also a job so you get days off and holiday and all that. Death is a very fair employer. There's also the Guardian of the Veil, who isn't any of these, but whose job it is to essentially watch borders between worlds and deal with anything that is a Massive Fucking Problem, and they have leave to call in as many Wardens or Reapers (or both) as necessary. If the Guardian calls, whatever you're working on can wait because this is an Imminent Threat To Global Existence and you are needed now.

Okay that's all the worldbuilding I can really think of at the moment! My wonderful partner @themechanicsnightmare has helped me flesh out this marvelous world with significant contributions (the Reapers and the Guardian were their ideas, plus witches being a species as well as warlocks), it wouldn't be the lived-in world it has become without them. And before anyone asks: no, there is no webcomic or novel or anything for this, and no there is not going to be one. While things like the Wardens and the specific ways the species work are my invention, urban fantasy/magical realism is a broad genre for a reason. I took inspiration from Grimm, Supernatural, Percy Jackson/the Riordanverse, and The Mortal Instruments (albeit mainly the bits I liked or wanted to fix) as well as many, many pieces of mythology and folklore. This is just my iterations of it. The characters are very much mine, and the specifics of the world are mine, but urban fantasy is a wonderful base for a worldbuilding concept and I highly encourage people to use it.

The pacts grant you their demon forms

You love the Brothers dearly, and they also love you deeply. The deep bonds strengthened the pacts and unlocked a new ability: semi-demon transformation. Basically, you borrow the Brothers’ powers to the point of turning into a demon temporarily with their features.

Congratulations, you surpassed Solomon. Even a powerful sorcerer such as him hadn’t unlocked this ability yet.

Lucifer

Head: two large horns curling up and out would protrude from your skull, so it would be a little bit hurt as slightest or hurt as f*ck. Your hair also would also turn black with some gray strands, if it weren’t black in the first place. If your hair were black in the first place, you would gain a few gray strands. Lucifer’s forehead mark would also appear on your forehead.

Eyes: one of your eyes would keep its color, while the other one would turn black-red, like Lucifer’s.

Body: your clothes would stay the same, however, peacock feather pattern would be added. Where it would be added depends on the attire on you at the time. On your back, you would gain six black wings, yes six, Lucifer’s third pair of wings regrow on you, since you’re such a powerful master.

Hands: red nail polish, whether you want or not. The Ring of Light would appear on the finger of your choice

Mammon

Head: you would gain his horns and the color of his silver hair along with some golden strands.

Eyes: one of your eyes would keep its color, while the other one would turn blue-yellow, like Mammon’s.

Body: your clothes would stay the same. Mammon’s marks would appear all over your body. The color of the mark depends on your skin tone, so that it would complement your skin, like lighter color or white on darker skin, or darker color on lighter skin. Your back would grow four bat-like wings, two are drooping, two are upright.

Hands: white nail polish. A golden ring would appear on the finger of your choice. The gold ring represents riches of the whole world.

Leviathan

Head: two coral-like horns and your hair would turn indigo.

Eyes: one of your eyes would keep its color, while the other one would turn orange-purplish, like Levi’s.

Body: your clothes would stay the same. Levi’s scale-like marks would appear on your neck. Similar to Mammon’s, they would complement your skin tone. However, purplish color on the marks stay the same. In addition, you would gain a serpentine tail. And it grows from your tailbone, so it’s extremely hurt, so prepare yourself.

Hands: dark indigo nail polish. A ring with a snake-like symbol on it would appear on the finger of your choice.

Satan

Head: Satan S-shaped horns and blond hair with a few light green strands.

Eyes: similar to the others, one would stay the same in color, one would turn green-yellow, like Satan’s.

Body: no change in clothes, except the addition of the black boa over your shoulders. The demon marks are on your back, and it would also complement your skin tone. Your tailbone would grow to become a spiky tail, and it’s gonna hurt. You back would also grow two bone wings, and they’re white with blood red tip, in contrast with the rest of Satan’s demon form.

Hands: green nail polish. A ring with unicorn symbol engraved on it would appear on the finger of your choice.

Asmodeus

Head: Asmo’s horns with his champagne hair. However, if your hair were dyed a fabulous color, like green, blue, pink, etc., it would stay the same.

Eyes: one would stay the same, one would turn light orange-yellow, like Asmo’s.

Body: a golden scorpion would wrap around your body. Heart shaped marks would appear on your arm, of course, they also complements your skin tone. On your back, four bat-like wings.

Hands: random nail polish. A golden ring with a centipede crawling inside an orbit of a skeleton engraved on it would appear on the finger of your choice.

Beelzebub

Head: circlet-like horns with orange hair, unless you’re a redhead. If so, your hair would stay the same.

Eyes: one would stay the same, one would turn violet-pink, like Beel’s and Belphie’s.

Body: your body would become more muscular as a result, stripe marks would be on your neck and chest (of course they would complement your skin). Four large insectoid wings would appear on your back.

Hands: orange nail polish. There’s no ring, but you would gain a gauntlet with a fly symbol engraved on it on your dominant hand.

Belphegor

Head: twisted ram-like horns. Belphie has two main colors for his hair, indigo and grey, and you would only have one of them for half of your hair. The other half would be your hair color. Some ex, indigo-black, indigo-blond, indigo-reddish, black-gray, blond-gray, reddish-gray, etc.

Eyes: same case as with Beel’s.

Body: cow-like marks complementing the skin tone on your neck, your tailbone would hurt you again, growing to become a thorn and prickly cow tail. You back would grow two fallen angel wings (like Lucifer’s) (now you look like a winged bull in the Bible representing the Gospel of St. Luke).

Hands: cerulean blue nail polish. A ring with a horseshoe symbol engraved on it would appear on the finger of your choice.

April Tolkien Challenge; Day 12

Smaug

Smaug was a great fire-drake that had taken over the infamous Dwarven Kingdom Erebor in the year 2770 of the Third Age. As he attacked the mountain, Dale was left in ruins as well. While Thraín and King Thror managed to escape through a secret passage, many dwarves met their doom that day. Smaug managed to keep the kingdom for his own until the year 2941 of the Third Age. The gold, jewels and treasure the dwarven mountain had to offer him, were enough to drive him content to house there for two centuries.

It wasn't until Thorin Oakenshield and his company set out to reclaim Erebor, that the dragon was properly seen again. Bilbo Baggins, who was supposed to get the Arkenstone from the treasure hoard, as to show Thorin's royal title, found the dragon amongst the golden piles:

"There he lay, a vast red-golden dragon, fast asleep; thrumming came from his jaws and nostrils, and wisps of smoke, but his fires were low in slumber. Beneath him, under all his limbs and his huge coiled tail, and about him on all sides stretching away across the unseen floors, lay countless piles of precious things, gold wrought and unwrought, gems and jewels, and silver red-stained in the ruddy light. Smaug lay, with wings folded like an immeasurable bat, turned partly on one side, so that the hobbit could see his underparts and his long pale belly crusted with gems and fragments of gold from his long lying on his costly bed." -The Hobbit, JRR Tolkien

After noticing the missing golden cup the first day the dwarves re-entered the mountain, Smaug grew angry, recognizing Bilbo as a thief. As Bilbo tries to sweet-talk him, Smaug ultimately loses his temper, his rage for the dwarves growing. Out of revenge, he flew to Laketown, burning down the village and its inhabitants.

Bard the Bowman finally managed to slay Smaug when he arrived at Laketown. The scales of the dragon were impenitrable, yet a single scale was missing. Bard managed to hit it with the Black Arrow, shooting Smaug from the sky.

It was said that even after his death, the Lakemen - and other travellers - did not dare grab the gold or jewels from under Smaug's scales and wings. Even as the dragon had long been slain, now buried beneath the lake, the mere mention of Smaug scared the people, and they would not dare steal from him.

Smaug is said to be about 18 meters (59 feet) in length, but this is to be considered non-canonical. Other sources, for the film, name Smaug as being 130 meters (427 ft) in length, which is greater than two jumbo jets.

Another smattering of OC’s this week. These are all from a different world separate from my previous posted OC’s (both from the magic wielding universe and Charlie’s).

I don’t know what world Char belongs to, but she is an OC I started drawing back in freshman year of high school. This Char was done in 2015, but her design has been changed since.

Char is a shaggy furred, bold black striped, hoofed, (who is now designed with an insect like mandible), large eyed (with three simple eyes in the center of her head) demon (or forrest spirit, she doesn’t know, she’s never met another being like herself). She can not fly and has the wings to make her look bigger and refers to them as her “wow factor” (she’s never managed to fly with them -despite many attempts). She also has a long, tufted tail (it is not prehensile).

She likes hunting for prey (she mostly eats smaller animals- anything smaller than a faun is fair game for her), exploring nature, making musical instruments out of horns and reeds, fashioning other items for survival (she has several “nests,” that she hides shiny rocks and other things she finds of interest. She is a little under 5 ft, but really lithe.

The next OC was another idea for a deity for my magic world, named Dias, they have both female breasts and male genitalia. I don’t remember what they were going to be in charge of though. They were drawn in 2015.

Next to them is a tengu named Rue-ack Bakka. I don’t remember if they are female or male or genderless….but they are an adventurer who is hoping to find a master blacksmith to apprentice under (as their blacksmith skills could use a lot of work). They are fair with a sword (enough to get into trouble and then proceed to usually get out of it unscathed). They are an optimist. They also decorated their beak with brightly colored beads (it might be a signifier of what family clan they belonged to).

The next picture was done in 2013. It was my first couple drawings of Rue-ack Bakka.

This drawing was done of several unicorn warriors I saw in a dream. There was a tall “regal” unicorn, with an insanely long, sharp, gold, twisted horn, and massive gems inset in her head. She also had long, wavy hair that was so white, it often looked tinged with her surrounding colors. She also had tufts of hair coming out of her wrist, and ankles (which ended in polished golden hooves). She also had a long, thin tail, with the same white hair tipping it. She dressed in fine, flowing/sheer dresses, collared with more jewels. She also fought with a gun.

Her compatriot was her body guard (?), and was much stronger and stockier. They had a curved rhino Iike horn (but thinner and hand sharpened), she might have had lavender and silver tones in her hair, hooves, and horn. Her tail was shorter and had more hair on it. She also used a sword, and wore leather armor.

This case solving duo were originally from a dream. They were forced to work together, (despite their two different problem solving styles) to solve problems from this dimension and the supernatural. The top person is a renowned demon hunter, despite being one himself. He has yet to break any of the rules imposed on his species visiting this realm and due to his involvement with investigators is not allowed to return to his own realm. He is pretty physical in his fighting (wrapping around his opponent and using his power of “seduction” to lure them into submission), often uses his legs in fighting, and finishes them off with his fangs. He is rumored to be either an incubus or a vampire, but neither seem to be entirely accurate. He has pale-blueish skin and periwinkle/lavender hair. His eyes and body movements can seduce others, his eyes will turn red when feeding on blood (but he has to limit himself to animals and other demons while in the human realm), has sharp teeth (all canines and molars are sharp) and he is almost 7” tall. He can see in the dark, has better hearing, is faster, stronger, and more flexible than a regular human. He takes great pride in his hair and walks around in a loincloth for modesty, but his kind do not like wearing clothes (his skin is very sensitive to clothing textures).

Despite all the sexual attention he gets he is asexual. He often tries to hide how sad he is at the constant misunderstandings he receives, but it wears on him.

After begrudgingly teaming up with Wola, becomes like an older brother to him.

Wola, formerly “Wolf,” but due to his spelling error that he refuses to admit to, his name is Wola. He was raised by wolves (or a kind of wolf demon - the department hasn’t nailed that down yet), and at some point in his early life, his right eye was damaged to such an extent that it had to be removed (he also had quite a few badly healed scars covering him too, but he either doesn’t remember how he got them or refuses to say). He is in his mid/late teens, but is stuck at 4’ but is pretty strong, and can easily lift three times his weight. He has no interest in having relationships with others and often is happy sitting by himself working on his multitude of gadgets and computers. He has an uncanny knack for computers, pushing buttons, and all kinds of gadgets. He wears a wolf cloak (complete with wolf ears) that he lets absolutely no one touch and usually has it up at all times (his hair is very curly underneath, very bushy eyebrows, one golden cat eye, sharp claws that he keeps well trimmed, sharp canines, and often goes bare foot as he has a hatred for foot wear). His past is a mystery, and he would have stayed out in the woods had he not been discovered by the department. He eats a variety of food but often enjoys sneaking in some peanut butter crackers when no one is looking. He eventually looks up to the unnamed-vampire-incubus like demon as an older brother. These drawings were done in 2014-2017.

Dabihawks Victorian Vampire au ft. Trans Hawks and Vampire! Dabi

The Takami family had been climbing up through the social ladder for years. They have become known as wealthy merchants with connections to several lords and ladies. Keigo was the only son to the main branch of the Takami family. Other branches have opted to marry into social status. Not many people knew of the predicament that left the Takami family to shroud a secret. When Keigo was born he had been born female. Well that in itself was not a problem to his father who would regardlessly still pass on the business to Keigo. However when Keigo was growing up he had an affinity for the things that were primarily masculine. So one day his mother decided to dress him up as you would with a little boy and he was extremely content. So they allowed Keigo to be raised as a boy and those who knew were sworn to secrecy.

Keigo had grown up to be quite a vision with bright honey eyes from his mother and golden blonde hair from his father. He was not quite tall but always carried an air of elegance and dignity. The way he walked almost commanded the attention of any room he entered. He had many suitors of varying genders. Suitors he had become acquainted with in his times of attending balls and business meetings. Of the male suitors who knew of his assigned gender at birth believed him a conquest to tame and make him submit to the role he so hated. Therefore rejecting them with harsh words sweeten by his delivery of voice. The female suitors believed him to be a gentleman and a romantic and swooned, which was not far from the truth. Keigo was excellent at what the tight-lipped Victorians called canoodling.

Besides that Keigo was beloved by his parents and friends. He treated the servants with kindness and fiercely defended them. His best friend was Lady Rumi Usagiyama and once they see each other it will take a lot to get them to let go off one another. Many believed that Lady Rumi and Keigo would one day marry; it only made sense, right? Rumi and Keigo would laugh behind their backs, only Keigo knew of Rumi’s affections towards ladies. But it was a rumor that they let people believe, after all it was just gossip.

This evening the Takami family were invited to a small ball at the Todoroki estate. Keigo was the main reason why they were invited, for he was friends with Lady Fuyumi who had begged her father to let them come. Lady Fuyumi, Rumi and himself would often group together at balls to avoid the unwanted suitors. Plus with Keigo there Rumi and Fuyumi’s relationship as never questioned as being more than

friendly. The estate itself was beautiful filled with gold decor and paintings of the many family members. The mahogany tables were long in the Refreshment room had many varying foods and drinks to choose from. Keigo couldn’t bring himself to eat a sour taste in his mouth as he spotted Lord Enji from across the room boasting about some hunt he went on. He knew of the secrets Lord Enji hid behind closed doors when there weren’t prying eyes. Fuyumi had told him of the years of abuse her mother had endured only for her to be locked in a private wing where no one is allowed to see her. She told him of Touya, her long lost older brother, that her father declared he was dead. And poor Shoto being chosen as the successor to the Todoroki fortune, while receiving the same abuse as his mother and Touya. Rumi and Fuyumi had pulled away from the party to be alone for a while leaving behind a bored Keigo. He knew the estate well enough and walked towards the garden.

He adored the garden as it was covered in lovely red and white roses. Evening lamps glowed unable to match the bright light of the moon above. Keigo was content to be solitary in the garden simply taking in the fragrance all around him as he sat on a bench. In the distance he could hear the clicking of glasses and roars of laughter. A sigh escaping his lips as he absent mindingly stroked the petals of a nearby white rose. But there was a presence that he could not shake. It was as if he was being watched from afar, an uneasiness spreading in his stomach. There was a sense of danger blanketing the garden. Until he turned around only for honey golden eyes to clash with burning turquoise blue. A gasp left his mouth, the man was tall and lanky with deathly pale skin. Unusually lacking any color as if he was born in darkness. Hair in unruly spikes as dark as a raven’s wing. There was a lopsided smirk and although his eyes were half lidded seemed amused at the blond’s reaction. Every fiber of Keigo’s body told him this man was not to be trusted but he couldn’t seem to move like a frightened animal in front of a beast.

“Who are you?” He mannered to say hoping his fear did not spill into his otherwise confident remark.

“ I should be asking you that question. After all, I am in the presence of such a lovely dove such as yourself. But I will not deny such a pretty thing, an answer, I go by the name Dabi.” Dabi said with a low chuckle that made Keigo’s heart race.

“Please, do tell me your name. I am on the edge of my seat to know” Dabi say moving closer to the man.

Keigo didn’t know if it was a good idea to let this man know his name after all he knew nothing of this mysterious man. So he came to the conclusion to give him a pseudonym to protect at least some part of his identity.

“They call me Hawks. Now what brings you here in this estate.��

“Aw birdie you have to be more honest. I know you are lying but I won’t hold against you. I came for some personal business but it seems I have been distracted by something better. “

A shiver went through Keigo’s body, as Dabi stalked closer. Normally he would give out a clever remark, but none of his thoughts were coherent. The moon played against dark locks and made Dabi’s skin glow. He certainly was handsome but in a way that made Keigo nervous which was a rare occurrence in itself.

“If I remember correctly this is a ball, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?” Dabi said with a bow before offering up his hand for the blond to take.

Keigo gulps a lump in his throat as he accepts the cold hand. His face flushing dark over his checks.

Dabi held him close, hand his thin waist. Keigo let himself be swayed and spun expertly by this man. This certainly was not his first waltz. There was a subtle difference in the way the upper class danced. There was a sense of control and need for perfection. A perfection that Dabi was demonstrated without flaws. Keigo peered up through blonde eyelashes to see that Dabi was enraptured by him, his gaze glued to his face. It was as if his face demanded all the attention of this man. There was no music but the flow of their bodies did not need it. The two were alone in the abyss of roses with the moon as their only spectator. When the time came for the dance to end, a hint of disappointment crawled into Keigo’s chest. Dabi’s hand refused to let go of his waist and brought his other hand to brush his lips against Keigo’s hands. Keigo looking up at Dabi noticed something in Dabi’s smile. Shining brightly in the silver moonlight we’re abnormally long sharp caines.

Keigo’s heart raced in a small panic, he was one of them. One of those beasts that had an affinity for human blood, the ones people call vampires. Creatures of darkness that are an unredeemable evil. He has been charmed by one and by the way it is framed it appears he is this creature’s next meal. Keigo couldn’t pull away, frozen in the sight of turquoise eyes. Dabi’s smirk remained on his face as he let go Keigo’s hand he once held to grab his chin. Leaning down his cold lips met with a pair of too warm lips. Keigo knew it was wrong but his body melted underneath Dabi’s seductive kiss. Kisses trailed down his jaw with the occasional brush of sharp teeth sending shivers down his spine. Soft moans escaped his lips as Dabi directed his kisses down his neck. Playful bites until the flat of his cold tongue swiped. Danger was in the air. Dabi wasted no time and bit down Keigo’s neck. Two piercing caines lodging themselves in Keigo’s neck. A loud gasp from the sudden pain echoed in the garden. The teeth went deeper and Keigo uselessly grabbed on to raven locks. Tears streaming down his face. Honey golden eyes in pain as he felt this creature consume his blood. In gentle waves pain was replaced with pleasure. Animorphs Playlist: Rachel

I mentioned in my Marco songs post that I had lists for all the Animorphs and a couple people asked for more, so here we go.

“Woman King” by Iron and Wine

Blackbird claw, raven wing Under the red sunlight

Hundred years, hundred more Someday we may see a Woman king, sword in hand Swing at some evil and bleed

Starting off, just the title of this song screams Rachel to me, and the hits just keep coming.  The whole song (heck, the whole EP) is about female power and presence.  The lyrics blend the violent and peaceful, the stern and sensitive, the mundane and the exceptional, just like Rachel, who refuses to be written off as a beauty queen or a berserker or a top student or a second mother but combines all of those and more into her character.

“Playing With Fire” by Them Lost Boys ft. Lexi Forche

The air is thick with smoke and I can’t breathe All your secrets pouring in and out of me Shut your mouth, lock the door, throw away the key You can’t be messing with me.  Don’t be messing with me!

This one runs on pure emotional association.  The aggressive beats intercut by more contemplative sections, slow builds and sharp drops, and the repeated refrain of “Don’t be messing with me” all sonically and essentially capture Rachel.

“Magus Perde” by Jethro Tull

Tough are the soles that tread the knife's edge Break the circle, stretch the line, call upon the devil Bring the gods, the gods' own fire In the conflict revel

A running theme among many of my choices will be more thematic or emotional connections (as seen in the previous entry).  I could probably articulate the connections given enough time and words, but that would be dissecting the proverbial frog.  Instead I’ll just point out that besides the lyrics listed above (which are pure Rachel Warrior Princess), this song is the closing track to the album Passion Play, and in keeping with the historical origins of the concept is a meditation on life, death, and rebirth.

“Winterborn” by Cruxshadows

About the only good thing to come out of reading 2/3 of Ghost several years ago (Oh John Ringo, No!) was being introduced to this song.  This is a song about willing sacrifice in defense of others.  More than that, the verses are from the perspective of a higher power providing reassurance and comfort, while the chorus is the statement of the person sacrificing themselves.  The parallels don’t just jump out at you, they club you over the head and go through your pockets for loose change, so I’ll leave it there.

“The March of Cambreadth” by Heather Alexander

Midnight mare and blood red roan Fight to Keep this Land Your Own Sound the horn and call the cry How Many of Them Can We Make Die!

This might be the least nuanced association here: when it comes to fighting, Rachel was the Goddess of War long before Kratos stepped on the scene.  This song is for the part of her that revels in the fight.

“White Flag” by Joseph

I could surrender but I'd Just be pretending, no I'd Rather be dead than live a lie Burn the white flag

While this song also invokes the imagery of war, the intent is broader - refusing to let circumstances force you down, living life whatever the situation is.  Rachel’s ability to live in the moment let her continue to enjoy the parts of her life outside the immediate scope of the war, whether that was appreciating teen idols, laughing at her cousin’s complete lack of chill at a school square dance, or taking time to build her relationship with Tobias.  These aspects faded as the war began to encroach onto everything, but she managed to maintain her life longer than some of the others.

“Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” by Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo

And she said honey take me dancing But they ended up sleeping in a doorway By the bodegas and the lights on Upper Broadway Wearing diamonds on the soles of their shoes

This was a late addition, but as I was writing this post I realized that I have a post-war Rachel-Tobias song but nothing for their relationship during the war, and this just jumped out at me.  This song, to me, captures the difference in their initial positions in life and society, and how little they let it matter to them.  They can be just as happy flying together or hanging out in Tobias’ meadow or Rachel’s bedroom as they could be at a dance or the mall or another more traditional venue.  It also captures a sense of her refusal to let him cut her out and their willingness to meet in the middle.

“Bird Song” covered by T-Sisters

This is my post-war Rachel and Tobias song, although it could apply equally well to the rest of the Animorphs after her death.  Initially written by Jerry Garcia in memory of Janis Joplin, I picked this particular version because I love the harmonies and it’s three women singing it.  This is another emotional association, no great character examination, just mourning for a dearly loved friend.

“This War” by Sting

And you can see the coming battle You pray the drums will never cease And you may win this war that's coming But would you tolerate the peace?

This song is written as an explicit condemnation of war, but I interpret and apply it here to Rachel’s own mixed feelings about the war, her love for it, and her place in the world without it.  While she’s not financially profiting, she does find herself more at home in battle (especially as the series goes on) and this song - to me - captures her fear that in giving more freedom to that part of herself she’s losing other elements of herself.  I personally believe she would have had a better chance than some might expect had she survived, but we’ll never know.

“Riot” by Three Days Grace

If you feel so filthy, so dirty, so f---ed up If you feel so walked on, so painful, so p---ed off You're not the only one refusing to go down You're not the only one, so get up

This was already on my Marco list, where I said it was my song for him, Rachel, and Tobias.  Whether they’re stirring s#!t with each other because they’re bored or burning down the world because at this point who cares, this is the song for my feral children.

“Yellow Flicker Beat” by Lorde

I'm a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm And the scars that mark my body, they're silver and gold My blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones It keeps my veins hot, the fire's found a home in me

I’m sure I’m not the first person to connect this song to Rachel.  Katniss is a different person, but as a song for a fighter who still can’t escape their war, it maps onto Rachel pretty well.

7ft tall silver-haired thembo of a fallen angel. was the literal sword of god until they killed him! reasons slightly unclear but probably sure to forbidden queer love! super caring for their friends. has one friend they have known for hundreds of years who they HATE but are bound to by the red string of fate. their sword is a part of them, they can sheathe it into a tattoo. they start out indistinct at the edges but as they have continued on through the campaign they have become more and more distinct. they became a flaming engine of justice to kill their friends shitheaded older brother who was following him. they have learned enough necromancy to allow other fallen angels to die, even though they typically cannot. they fly giant birds in to battle.

Imagine now: a fallen angel with beautiful gray hair and very big muscles. Now imagine them with a 9 ft sword. Now imagine them as a helmsperson of a pirate ship in a flowy deep-v pirate shirt. Now imagine they're dumb as a fucking rock. And finally, imagine that they killed god. Here, you have made Gable Skyjacks: sexiest podcast character of all time.

7ft tall nonbinary/genderfluid thembo fallen angel sky pirate who wields a buster sword. silvergrey hair with black/gold streaks as they regain feathers/memories of before their fall. back is covered in tattoos that hide the scars of their shredded off wings. killed God. toxic exes with lucifer. they are the keeper of several giant war birds who occasionally crave human flesh. they enjoy getting rowdy/smoking rope with their boys. they collect rocks that they think are neat. When anyone admits they are attracted to them, Gable trips over their words and absolutely swaglessly ends up sounding stupider and sexier by the end of the conversation; the will they/won't they and teasing they dish out to these (un?)lucky few is palpable. Sometimes the buster sword is on fire. They are immortal, they are cringe, they are trying to atone because they believe they are the reason the world is ruined.

Okay so aside from all of the above (giant with a matching giant flaming sword, killed god, extreme dumbass), here's some more propaganda for Gable the Godkiller.

They've escaped death multiple times with their partner in... crime? Like literally they were about to be executed in the most brutal way possible and just. Escaped and killed all their captors in the snowy wastelands.

They are the helmsperson of the Uhuru and take this job very seriously and definitely haven't left it to Bowser (you know, like from Mario) multiple times. Can steer that flying ship in horrible weather and still make it to port safely.

Healed an entire fucking hospital by cutting their hair for someone they had the hots for who was also in the hospital. Imagine being on that level of myth making in some random port city because of a hair cut.

Giant bird caretaker and also took the giant birds out on their friend's bachelor party (this was like. his Xth polyamorous marriage at this point btw) and had a fucking blast getting high on some rope and fucking around. They've also flown these birds into combat and looked cool as hell doing it (see: killing their friend's shithead of an older brother in a joust).

Had a relationship with Lucifer the Morning Star before they fell as an angel and killed God. Literally the reason the stars fell was their love for each other. The world would not look the same without Gable and they are, at the very least indirectly responsible for the creation of the Church of the Slain God and everything it represents (fantasy Catholicism).

And also yeah they are regularly tripping over themself and saying very silly things. 10/10 character we love Liz Anderson and Gable in this house

I am seeing people say that this Nicky fellow is basically trans! That's very cool! Gable is actually trans. Pronouns they/them/any presentation whatever they feel like.

Dragonborn

Dragonborn look very much like dragons standing erect in humanoid form, though they lack wings or a tail. The first dragonborn had scales of vibrant hues matching the colours of their dragon kin, but generations of interbreeding have created a more uniform appearance. To any dragonborn, the clan is more important than life itself. Dragonborn owe their devotion and respect to their clan above all else, even the gods. The character i use in practically every roleplay

Name: Blaze Dragon Heart

Race: Dimension Lord

Age: 5,459 vigintillion and 5 (A.K.A. WAY TOO FREAKING OLD [but he looks like he is in his early 20s]).

Abilities (passive powers): Adapt (can copy powers, attacks, abilities, and such without limits by either learning how they work, by physically touching them, or by being inflicted by it {I got it from the anime "Needless"}), Enhance (upgrades powers and attacks that have been copied and can temporally enhance the user's physical body), and Dimensional Adaptation (the user's physical properties change according to the dimension [they look different to suit the dominant race's preference]).

Powers (must be activated): Adapt (was explained earlier, but normally activated when the user says "Adapt"), Enhance (was explained earlier, but normally activated when the user says "Enhance"), Weapon Summon (the user is able to summon any weapon they can imagine, but is limited to the technology and laws of physics within the dimension it is used in and by how powerful the user is), and Over Kill (an attack that is an absolute last resort and is only native to these characters but with the exception of stick figures because well they are stick figures they can do anything).

Weapons (the ones that they usually have on them without the use of powers or magic): Twin Shotgun (a double barrel shotgun that splits in half like a twin blade katana {XD I put this one here cause shotgun = life}, it is also pump action but its so easy to move the grip that you can just pull back on the handle [if you can hold one of them with one hand] and the grip will be pulled back and then u push forward to finish pumping), Red Steal Buster Sword (like the sword from "Berserk" but slightly bigger and made of red steal), a pair of 44. Magnums (a pair of large revolvers that kick back hard, they look the same, but these ones he has modified to use his blood as ammo along with melt down bullets from other guns to fit it and use as ammo, and sometimes if he gets shot a lot while protecting someone he will spit up the bullets and put them in the revolvers making them highly explosive [1. yes his blood is highly explosive and 2. here's a"Black Butler" reference for you]), a Spinal Scythe (he rips out his/others' spines and makes a scythe out of them), and a Dimensional Chain (an unbreakable chain that is hidden within his body and looks like the chain spear that Scorpio from "Mortal Kombat", but it comes out from anywhere on his body and he can control it in midair, it will travel through dimensions in order to fulfill its mission, the chain is able to split into different sections along with its ability to stretch infinitely).

Clothing: Trench Coat [Red][XL] (like the one that "Vash The Stampede" wears in the anime "Trigun"), Jeans [Black][L] (like blue jeans but they are black), [when in public] a T-Shirt [Black/Grey {dark}][L], and a Cowboy Hat [Black] (it has a gold plated bull pendant on the hat band, which is beaded with quartz and obsidian beads/chunks), metal knuckled leather glove [Black] [Finger-less], [sometimes] Biker Sunglasses [Black/Red], and a pair of Cowboy Boots [Black] with spurs.

Physical Features (how they look): Really long silver hair in a ponytail (back) with a red streak on the right but it doesn't reach the ponytail, right eye is blood red with a snake/dragon like pupil, and left eye is navy blue with an anime girl's eye, a long dragon tail (red) that he keeps hidden, along with matching wings, he has bull horns that start small and get bigger as he gets angrier/while fighting, shark teeth but with the canines being like a werewolf's fangs, and a very long (at least a foot long) dragon tongue (plus you can occasionally see bits of his skin look like small dragon scales [cause they kinda are].

Origin Story: Long ago in the depths of the dimension known as limbo, there existed but 1 planet, it was called "Kralor", home of the dimension lords a race similar to time lords but they don't use tardis' they use special doors to travel through dimensions, and everything was fine till their goddess , Lunaris, died (their goddess kept the planet warm, and provided light for the planet), she died to a being known in legend as the "Worm of Limbo" or "Mekai", it had eaten her and when she died, after about a month the planet and all but 1 of the dimension lords died of the planet freezing over and ripping apart, the dimension lord that survived was a newly born Blaze, he had been the reincarnation of Lunaris, but he was born with a defect, he had no heart or veins, yet he lived normally, though he had anger issues and two separate personalities that took turns taking over his body by covering up the other's assigned eye, one was sweet kind and smart (left eye)and the other was vicious, scary and strong (right eye), and occasionally when the mean one came out something (not someone) caught fire, but didn't burn, just before the last adult died he was sent into the closest dimension, dimension number 00055 or better known as "Overworld", and he grew up alone and every day after he turned 9 nine million he stumbled upon a newly made planet, Earth, he settled down on it and the day he found creatures on his island, for the planet was mostly water at the time, he became friends with them and took care of the weak ones he trained and build things but as the years went by he had watched life, turn to death, and new life be born, he grew strong and he trained, using his powers to gain others. Out of all the creatures to roam the earth his favorite creature was the dragon, he liked how they were so much he used his powers to gain their abilities and such but kept his human like shape, but when he noticed they where being killed off by something he hid the last 5,459 in a pocket dimension he had created, he now watches over and takes care of them, while continuing to walk the earth with only his left eye open and his right covered by a patch.

Personality: to complex to say so i'll just give a couple a words; bi-polar (MPD), from sweet and smart, to cruel and strong; seductive when around someone he finds attractive; extremely protective of things he determines as either his or very important; mysterious when both eyes are closed/covered (runs on instincts or something) or i guess more accurately emotionless, but when both eyes are open he is like one complete personality that changes how he acts (cant thing of words to describe it), but when he is like this he: likes to play jokes on others (especially naughty/dirty jokes), acts like he is in his late twenties if he was human, really playful, and usually up for anything.

NSFW stuff: A large "crotch" that is at least 3 ft. Long and 9 in. thick, and a slightly smaller "crotch", it is 1 ft. long and 5 in. thick, and both have knotts that are 2 times as thick as each one. Has his "unsafe" season in winter, but the rest of the time he is "safe".
