Who's Who In The DC Universe #2: Black Bison, Blackbriar Thorn
Black Bison by Pat Broderick
“An American Indian totally assimilated into ‘the White Man’s World’, John Ravenhair was given a necklace talisman by his great-grandfather, who had once been the shaman of the legendary Bison Cult.”
John was possessed by the spirit of his great-grandfather who set out to avenge the “white man’s many injustices against his people”.
Firestorm separated John from the talisman, releasing his great-grandfather’s possession.
Months later, Silver Deer seduced Ravenhair into becoming Black Bison and the duo battled Firestorm and Firehawk.
The mystic talisman allows Bison to animate inanimate objects and control the elements of nature.  He is also a skilled hand-to-hand combatant, “using ancient Indian forms of martial arts”.
I’ve never read a Black Bison story and I don’t think he’s been seen since the 1980s. If DC ever brings the character back, they should reduce the stereotypical elements. The motivation is fine – understandable even – and the powers make Bison a match for Firestorm – but the presentation needs a revamp.
Blackbriar Thorn by Joe Kubert
Thorn was a high priest of an ancient Druidic sect, “leading them in sacrificial rituals”, until he was slain by a Roman legion.
During his attempt to flee the Romans, Thorn was swallowed by a fissure in the earth created by his fellow Druids.
Centuries later, Thorn was unearthed by Professor Lewis Lang, and revived by his own magic and the light of the full moon.
Thorn battled Superman and Etrigan the Demon and was “presumably” destroyed by the duo.
Thorn has complete control of the elements, and is a master of illusion. He is trapped in a wooden form due to his centuries-long imprisonment.
The only appearances of Blackbriar Thorn that I’ve read was in Geoff Johns’ JSA run. He was a member of the Injustice Society.  If I remember, Thorn seemed to be presented as a foe of Alan Scott even though the Johns run seemed to be their first encounter. A villain made of wood is a natural foe for a hero whose greatest weakness is wood.

"Golden Deer is boring though it's lackluster, the characters aren't as strong as the other paths there's less conflict-"
You fool. You absolute buffon. Golden Deer is perfectly designed. Not only does it feed into the whole "alliance" theme well by having the characters still work together despite their differences and feelings well before hitting those A supports, but it's ALSO the only route that actually puts the focus on YOU the player. Or, rather, Byleth themself
Black Eagle is about whether or not you can agree to Edelgard's ideals of acceptable sacrifice and perspective that there's only 1 way to do things. The branching happens when you decide whether or not you agree, but ultimately it just explores opposing or agreeing with Edelgard. Anything more than that is really just incidental to that main concept, whether it's Crimson Flower or Silver Snow, the entire time you're focused either on helping Edelgard achieve her goals or you're focused on showing her how wrong she is alongside the Black Eagles who think it's their duty to correct Edelgard's wrongs (and I have a whole separate thing in regards to how the cast acts in Crimson Flower verses Silver Snow). It works really well for characters designed around an empire, a domineering form of government where (usually) a singular ruler determines the course and focus
Blue Lions is focused entirely on working on past issues and learning to bring yourself into the present, but it's done almost entirely through the cast more than the player. The Blue Lions themselves all have their own traumas and deep-seated past issues that hinder or help progress. While both Blue Lions and Black Eagles have a lot in common when it comes to traumatized characters and ideology, the ideology is front and center, while in Boue Lions, their interpersonal conflicts are front and center. This shows especially in the final (non romance) scene, where Dimitri decides that his personal attachment to Edelgard and past memories still matter, and he reaches out a hand, despite her immediately trying to kill him. It's fitting for a route designed around a kingdom, which is usually built entirely on interpersonal dealings between the ruling class
Golden Deer, however, is designed very differently. Unlike the other 3 routes, the player, or more specifically Byleth, is put as the driving force instead of the Lord. And this is actually what makes Golden Deer such a good route and one with the best ending of all of them. Claude has ideals, but he isn't a person who wants to force others to follow his path like Edelgard. Claude has lived a life of strife where his past motivates him, but it doesn't chain him the same way it does Dimitri. Instead, he works on understanding everyone around him and working together towards agreed upon goals, while taking on stuff that isn't agreed upon onto himself. But more than that, while all the Lord's value your opinion, Claude is the only one who actually takes what Byleth wants (rather than just what they think about specific matters) into consideration for his plans. Repeatedly you tell Seteth in Silver Snow that you don't want to kill Edelgard, but he pushes that you have no choice. Pretty much the entire first half of Azure Moon is Dimitri ignoring you. And in Crimson Flower, you've all but completely submitted to Edelgard's will with a couple of exceptions (which actually proves my point because it's specifically in regards to the Golden Deer because you can fight the entirety of Crimson Flower while sparing all of them except for Judith). But in Verdant Wind, Claude doesn't hide that he has a problem with the church and wants Rhea gone. In Golden Wildfire, without Byleth, he's more than happy to just get rid of her without a second thought. But when Byleth is the protagonist, he goes out of his way to accommodate your wants into his plans and goals. When you express as the player that you want to reason with Edelgard and ponder if you can't walk the same path, Claude agrees with you and says he'll make it happen if he can, with the other Golden Deer mostly agreeing. When that, can't happen you both lament the fact that Edelgard gave you no choice together. He makes finding Rhea a priority, mostly because as curious as he is in general, he wants to help you find out answers only Rhea can give you. And all of the Golden Deer do this to some extent, with each other but also with you as the player. I think Hilda and Marianne's A supports with Byleth show this best personally, but that's a personal opinion. And it just works so well for a route designed around the idea of an alliance, people coming together and agreeing to work towards a goal bigger than themselves
And that's not to say the other routes aren't as good as Golden Deer, they're all equally well written, but it just makes me sad when I see people giving the Golden Deer route grief just because the characters aren't the same when it does its theme so beautifully

wilson is so funny in how he's drawn compared to the other dogs. its like a bishounen love interest joined the cast of jojo's bizarre adventure. a griffith if a sea of guts. it's made funnier by the fact our introduction to him was him throwing a baby off a cliff.

In my opinion therians/otherkins have existed forever but has been covered up and accusing said people of witchcraft, in history shape shifters were most likely therians and same with werewolves...but society isn't ready to hear that nor will they listen

Some Staryk mounts. These ones are based on mule deer.
Since deer don't have upper front teeth I choose to believe the fangs come from the lower jaw

On a scale of
Sodium to 10
How well does everyone do with water
Lanolin - I grew up near a river so my parents forced me to get really good at swimming. So I guess an 8?
Tangle - 7 or 8 for me! I really should do it more often but it's such a pain to clean and dry my tail afterwards.
Whisper - I'd say a 7. I find swimming and floating in the water very calming..
Surge - 8! Unlike that loser Sonic, I'm actually great at swimming!
Kit - Are you serious?
Jewel - I guess 6? I enjoy getting in the water when it's my choice not someone else's.
Belle - Outside of that involuntary log ride that one time, I really haven't gone swimming before? Let's say 4 for now.
Grease - I'm a lazy river kinda guy. Let's go with 5.
Amy - Ugh I haven't gone to the beach in forever! I should get some of the girls to come with me- oh right the question. I'd say 7.
Sonic - …….Sodium.
Silver - ……Oh God when's the last time I swam?
Tails - It's kinda cheating but I use my tails like boat propellers. With my tails it's 10 but without its 4.
Knuckles - 10. It's like digging but in water.
Rouge - 9. After all, what kind of spy can't swim?
Shadow - 6. Another thing I need to improve on…..
Omega - THIS UNIT IS NOT WATERPROOF.
Clutch - 9. I got thrown overboard a few times in my younger days and had to learn quick.
Chelydri - 10! I was the best swimmer when I was in the- uh. Uuuuuuuuh nothing I was a part of nothing.
Jerry - HA! I'm a 3, just good enough not to drown immediately.
Annabelle - Why I'm a 9 darling! I was a swimsuit model among other things back in the day!
Caoine - Fᵾȼꝁɨnǥ łøøꝁ Ⱥŧ mɇ. WħȺŧ đø ɏøᵾ ŧħɨnꝁ?

Marina snuck into Alastor’s office when he wasn’t looking and covered his eyes with her hands after coming up behind him as her tail wagged.
Alastor was doing something for Charlie again and yet, he was adjusting himself while writing it down. So many things to do; so little time it seems. As he was writing something that's when he felt something cover his eyes.
"....I have the feeling I have a welcoming guest here...now I wonder who it could be." he said in a silly tone but the smile didn't disappear.

Oriental Legend 2 (2007) 西遊釋厄傳2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Date: March 2007 Platform: Arcade Developer: International Games System Co., Ltd. Publisher: International Games System Co., Ltd. Genre: Brawler Theme: Fantasy Franchises: Oriental Legend Type: Retelling
Summary:
Oriental Legend 2 follows up the original game with another romp through Journey to the West. The original game's five characters are joined by three newcomers: Er-Lang, Drakan, and Princess Iron Fan. Two more characters can be unlocked after completing the game once.
Like the original game, this is a scrolling beat-em-up for up to four players. This time around, character growth is a major gameplay feature. Players earn experience for defeating enemies and level up, with underleveled characters much more likely to have trouble beating late-game bosses. There are three game modes. "Plot" features seven stages with a regular difficulty level designed for regular players. "Online Ranking" is a more challenging eight-stage mode which, when completed, provides the player with a code to input at the official website in order to share their codes on the online leaderboard. "Challenge Boss" is a boss rush that goes through all of the bosses in the game, with players challenged to get through in as little time as possible.
This is the first game for the PGM2 to feature support for the hardware's card reader accessory. By buying an IC card at their local arcade, players gain the ability to save and load their character's progress, allowing them to keep their level growth and items between runs.
