First messaging app: does anyone remember kik? It was the popular app when I was in high school. I had one because the Cool Kids told me I needed one and then used it maybe twice, lol.

Pickles, yes or no: yes! The electrolytes and health benefits from fermentation are so helpful for my stomach issues. I used to buy gigantic jars of the big sour dill ones to snack on.

Favorite mythical creature: oooh, this is tough. I was a big fan of alicorns and unicorns as a kid. These days, I’m into dragons, kelpies, and mermaids. I adore animals, and that includes the mythical ones.

Longest book series you've read: I read all of the books set in the House of Night world as a teen. If we include novellas and spinoffs, I think there are almost twenty? The world-building intrigued me, but I didn’t really like most of the characters. Looking back now, those books are pretty problematic.

Playstation, Xbox, or Nintendo controller layout: PC gaming is my preference, actually. Gaming in general isn’t super accessible to me as a blind person. There are accommodations to make console gaming doable, but most of them are more trouble than they’re worth.

time to get out of bed: I’m usually up by 11am at the latest on the days my chronic illnesses are being kind to me. If not, I don’t force myself out of bed at a set time. If I’m really struggling, my sleep schedule will flip and I’ll transform into a nocturnal gremlin.

Did you ever have a Tamagotchi: Someone once gave me a used one as a Christmas present. It was already dead and I didn’t know how to, or if I could, undead it. That made me really sad. My autistic brain had already gotten attached to that little pixilated guy without even meeting it.

Ugh. That stupid ringtone. She hated it, but Robin somehow put it there and she couldn't remove it.

"Hello?"

"Hey mushroom."

She scoffed.

"Don't mushroom me, wonderboy. And tell your brother to remove the stupid ringtone."

She heard a sigh at the end of the line.

"Look, I get the feeling that you're mad at me-"

"No shit, sherlock."

"-but I need to know why."

She sucked in a breath.

She loved Dick Grayson. And Dick Grayson loved her.

So why couldn't she say yes?

"Dick..." She let out a sob.

"Mushroom? You okay?"

"No, I'm not okay, dammit!"

She put the phone down, and let the tears stream down her face.

"Hey. I'm here for you, ring or no ring. Okay? You're my best friend." A pause. Then: "Don't tell Wally I said that."

She let out a dry laugh. Then, taking a slow breath, she began to explain herself.

"Dick. I...I know I promised you I would change, that I could change...but I can't. I'm starting to think that old habits can't die. I'm not like you, I'm not the hero you think I am."

There was nothing but silence on the other end of the line.

"Dick?"

"How many."

She didn't say anything.

"How many?"

"...Sixteen. Sex traffickers."

"If it meant that you'd be happier."

He smiled sadly, then kissed her forehead.

"But I'm happier with you."

Dick glared at her.

I really am starting to think about how I want to approach the sequel to Hungry for love, ready to drown, given what I feel like is a certain, um, incompleteness in the back half of s2: how much do I want to infill with things like my ideas for "episode 5.5" versus the relatively narrow approach to missing scenes that I took before?

"post-canon" - which is entirely on my TAZ Balance fics! I wrote a ton of fic exploring those characters after the end of the series, both on my own and with Ryn.

ngl, I would love to see fanart of for the benefit of all the broken hearts; I have this image in my head of the scene where they're all in the pullout overlooking the city, and Her face being shadowed so you can't see it but you can see the other three, but I am not an artist lol. and honestly I would be amazed to get any art of my work, and especially that one which is near and dear to my heart. (I did get a gift of very silly meme art but that's kind of a different thing)

1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?

I'm not sure how i'm supposed to answer but by the person who tagged me answers, I think mine is the characters but only Madhi and Noe (Dan being a random pilot with no name back in 2019)

3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?

I obviously love my main characters because I've wrote about them for so long and they're just the best. For the less important mcs, my fav would be Devyn because she's a really interesting character. She's so silly but at the same time she's going to have an important role later in the serie and I'm really excited to write about it.

6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!

It's briefly mentionned once or twice but Dan and Alec have a cat, her name is Cloud because she's white/grey and looks like a cloud!

8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?

The last chapter of Draft 1, I'm not stuck but I'm currently busy this week and the next one so I won't work on it a lot. Hope I can finish it soon tho!

So, this one's perhaps a little bit of a spoiler since it comes from near the very end of @thearchivistsjournal, but it's one of the few times in there that we get to hear the words of anyone other than the titular Archivist. To read the scene being described here from the Archivist's point of view, see Day 12. For Lin's description of meeting the Archivist for the first time, keep reading below the cut:

I actually made a point of avoiding you when you first washed up, especially after I heard you were going to be Archivist.  I still missed the old man and had a lot of tangled up feelings with all my good memories of the archive being tainted by sadness over his loss.  But I couldn’t avoid the place forever and I missed it as much as I did him, so I finally got my courage together and made myself go down there.

I was so nervous about how it was going to go, seeing someone else in his place, watching over our books, intruding in my place to hide from the world.  But then I got down the stairs and you looked ridiculous.  I know I should say I’m sorry for laughing like I did, but I’m still not.  I don’t mean that in a mean way though.  Seeing you there, looking nothing like him but drowning in his clothes like you were his kid that had gotten into his closet and surrounded by an utter mess was just the right kind of silly to get rid of those nerves and make me feel better about, well, a lot of things really.  I know you were embarrassed but please don’t be when you look back on that.  Under the exact context that you couldn’t have known, I don’t think you could have made a better first impression.

And I’ll admit, seeing all the books out of place and hearing they were going to be reorganized felt wrong at first.  The archive means a lot to me, and who were you to change something so important?  But then as you were talking you just got so into it.  Talking so fast you were stumbling over yourself and repeating things but smiling the whole time.  Here was someone else who really cared.  I was afraid you wouldn’t.  

As we got to talking and while I settled back into my old reading spot I started thinking maybe rearranging everything wasn’t so bad.  It was a fresh start.  A way for the archive to keep what it’s always meant to me without reminding me of what I’d lost.

From there, it wasn’t hard to start thinking of you as a fresh start.  Someone who didn’t have any prior history or associations with me to poison the present.  Someone I could do things right with.

You know I’ve drifted away from all my other old friends.  Some of the reasons I’ve told you, some I think you’ve figured out, and some you probably have an idea of now after all that other stuff I wrote.  I’ve had my problems in the past.  Still do.  But I’ve gotten better.  And I’m still getting better.

I know it was never your intention, but thank you for giving me the opportunity to try being a good friend again.  For being any kind of friend again.  I think we both know you can be alone without being lonely, just like you can be with others and still be lonely.  I was definitely the latter for a long time.  Longer than I realized, and you were my first step to getting out of that.

I saw @writernopal do it and since I got inspired to write a silly little thing with elven shenanigans because of the STS ask I thought I share it “No worries, my contact said we find them here after a successful heist. And guess what just happened two days ago?” With the confident only warriors had, Iryssa strolled towards the marketplace, but Aèdin stopped her with her staff. “What contact? Don’t tell me the same who sent us into the dragon’s lair and forgot to mention the dragon.” “No, and this one won’t be a problem anymore.” “Good.” Aèdin was about to walk on when she caught on the tensed tone of her companion. “Wait. What does it mean: This won’t a problem anymore? Did you kill him?” “Not immediately.” “What?”, Aèdin shrieked. A few townspeople looked over at them but continued with their work. With an exhausted sigh, Iryssa turned around and crossed her arms in front of her breast, tilting her head just slightly. “I told him if I catch him pulling something like this again, he can meet his gods. Took him half a day. I overheard how he sent a group of young adventurers to a harpy den without telling them there are harpies, and laughing his ass off moments later over an ale with his buddies. I appreciate everyone one of you! I’m going to apologize now - I’m typically not this sappy. Please ignore me - I usually don’t get emotional like this, but a lot of this needed to be said.

To my followers, thank you all for the support over the last year - even helping reach my 500 follower milestone. You guys have seriously helped boost my confidence in writing again and there’s too many of you to name to thank each one of you personally, but just know - I do read each comment, reblog, tag, etc you leave on my fics or in my inbox. And you all never fail to make me smile. 🥺

Too my mutuals, while there are also too many of you to thank individually- you have all been such a god send. I love seeing you in my inboxes, notifications, ect. I love the banter we share especially with my every changing interests and THANK YOU FOR PUTTING UP WITH THAT AS WELL. I know I’ve convinced so many of you to join the bllk cult - no I will never apologize for it either.

There’s just a few shout outs I wanted to make before the year comes to an end. To a group of people i interact with constantly - even outside of tumblr and they just aways make my shitty days brighter.

@dilu3 - you are literally like the little sister I never got to have. You match my chaotic energy at every turn and our conversations are never boring. We’re constantly keymashing, all caps screaming in our group chat and somehow manage to understand what the other is saying without it even being remotely words.

@katsukikitten / @baroukitten - I am so thankful we started talking even though it’s been fairly recent. Spamming manga screenshots back and forth especially of bllk to each other on discord while screaming about our common interests in characters. Especially Barou and Nagi. 😩 you always send me such wonderful messages while I’m at work - cheering me on ESPECIALLY ON TUESDAYS WHICH ARE MY GARBAGE DAYS. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THAT MEANS TO ME.

@blkladyelle - ELLE. HOW CAN I EVEN BEGIN TO DESCRIBE OUR FRIENDSHIP. The fact you pop on randomly to send me DMs just to telling me how much you love me and hope I’m having a lovely day is just so precious. It makes my heart melt. I love sharing fic ideas with you and how you help me break down the constant stream of ideas in my head - because it never seems to stop 🙃 ughhhh you are perfect.

@awkwardchick87 - while we’ve only been moots for a few months - I love that I can just spaz completely out on servers about TR with you. Especially with season 2 coming up. SCREAMS. I can’t wait. Also- I’m going to convert you to the bllk cult even if it kills me! Join us.

@ryndicate - ryn… oh RYN. The conversations we have on dash can’t even compare to the chaos that is our conversations on discord. Constantly spamming manga screenshots of Kaiser’s mullet back and forth while screaming what a tool he is that you can’t seem to escape - I have also found a friend that I can vent frustrations when it comes to the fandom community on this app with. You’ve always offered solutions to my vents as well which has been so helpful and I appreciate it so much. You have no idea how thankful I am for us meeting on this silly app this year. You and your mullet loving self. ✌🏻

@knchins - ally. My best friend. My partner in crime. My WIFE. We go back further than this app and I foresee our friendship going beyond it too. Our constantly creations of OCs and story building together. You always the best person to go to for story building/universe creating. You have such a great imagination even though you don’t seem to think so. You’re a talent writer and I wish I even had a fraction of your talent. You have no idea what you mean to me… you’ve been there through the good and the very ugly parts of me and you’ve never left - even when so many others did. You encouraged me to stay on track especially with my BPD treatment especially on the days I wanted to throw in the towel and give up. You’re always there when I need a shoulder to cry on and just to zone out while we watch our weekly showing of bllk/YouTube videos together. You’re probably the first person I message as soon as I wake up every day and the last person I send a message to before I go to sleep (or I fall asleep mid message before sending). You’re more than my best friend - you’re literally the family I choose to have in my life. 💕
