Different strokes for different folks.

Vasco finds sleepwear kind of unnecessary and restricting. He doesn't insist on sleeping nude and can go to bed decently dressed if the situation calls for it, but if it's up to him and he's comfortable and in trusted company, he prefers wearing very little.

Machete gets cold easily and has weird body image issues, not being properly covered tends to distress him. Plus he has a thing for high guality garments and wants to look pretty or at least passably presentable even in bed.

i think it is so important that when adam was talking about getting a job, he said, "we're gonna have expenses." him and michael were going to have expenses, and adam needed to get a job to pay for them. it's important because, in reality, they weren't going to have expenses. michael stopped all of adam's human needs for food and water, and there wasn't a need for a house when michael could fly them anywhere in the world and adam didn't need sleep, but noooo, adam wanted to live a domestic little human life with michael, and he was going to work for it.

in the baby prime orion au during sentinel's reign the high guard got used to referring to optimus as 'little prime', half because they were paranoid of being spied on and didn't want to give anything away and half because that's just what he was to them. their little prime.

and even after they're banished from iacon half of the decepticons never stop calling optimus 'little prime', not even long after the war goes on for thousands and thousands of years. is it an endearment? an insult? a reminder of better long gone times? a way to tell him he will never quite be as great as his fallen siblings? just simple habit? no one knows but the truth is it quite depends on who you ask but also they're all lying so you can't trust any of them

semi-dark king merlin au, someone from ealdor tells king cenred about merlin and he is captured and held as a slave in essetir. since merlin despises captivity and servitude, he’d rather be dead and free than alive and in chains so he acts out and pisses people (especially the king) off so they’ll think him too much trouble and kill him. at first they stick to beatings until merlin manages to get his chains around a few necks and now has a body count so they kill him…..only he wakes back up a few hours later and king cenred is Intrigued and keeps him close. merlin keeps acting out but no matter how many times they kill him, he won’t stay dead. merlin has this moment after waking up perfectly fine after his twenty seventh death where he is hopeless and believes there to be no escape, not even thru death. a few other sorcerers in chains come and help him clean up and give him a lil peptalk, realizing him to be emrys, and then they revolt and take over the kingdom and crown merlin as king and now uther is like “wtf” bc his neighboring kingdom who was kinda sorta on his wavelength about sorcery, though uther did not approve of keeping them alive, is now a kingdom ruled by magic. he goes to war with them but with magic running free and fucking emrys on the throne, they don’t make a lot of headway. anyways merthur meet on the battlefield, enemies to lovers, you get it

I think the beauty of Watamote and what makes it truly the special is that the manga goes from being like, "look at how cringy yet relatable this weirdo is" to "look at how cringy yet relatable ALL these weirdos are!"

All the friends Tomoko makes and all the people she meets, no matter how well-adjusted they initially seem, all end up being weirdos with their own cringy habits. From Nemo's habit of doing anime overreactions, to Yoshida's anger at being called a delinquent being a self-reinforcing reputation, to Yuri's complete inability to handle feeling embarrassed or self-conscious, to Mako trying so hard to be considerate of everyone she wraps around to being inconsiderate, to Ucchi's... Ucchi, none of them are immune to tripping over themselves in misunderstandings that somehow only further cement their friendship.

The archetypal bully characters, one of which literally starts out as a faceless mook, become humanized too as everyone's weird little eccentricities are laid bare. When everyone has accepted and become used to everyone's flaws, their gossip and badmouthing doesn't give them any social edge anymore, and when that happens it's revealed that without it they're just as socially inept and clueless as everyone else.

Even Tomoko's brother Tomoki, arguably the most "normal" character, is a huge ball of stress and nerves simply because he doesn't know how to deal with unwanted advances except by scowling angrily (which just makes him look more like a bad boy and thus more appealing to all the girls he wishes would leave him alone). The only character who seems to have everyone together is Asuka, and really it seems like that's only because she already accepted everyone's weirdness - and her own attraction to that weirdness - long ago.

At it's core, Watamote is a story about how everyone - the popular, the mean, the geeks, the doormats, the loners, the delinquents - are all cringy weirdos in their own right who all struggle to communicate and socialize "normally." The message at the heart of the series is that everybody faces these relatable struggles, and so nobody is alone in them. Watamote is, as it has always been, relatable. And that's beautiful.
