Obviously next week could prove this all dead-wrong, but I don’t think the trial’s quite over. I don’t believe the end of that episode actually took place, because I’m pretty sure we’re still firmly in the “punish Agatha” phase. Rio’s suddenly gone. Alice seems to be dead by Agatha’s hand, and no one—including Teen, who has always been on her side—seems primed to believe she was out of control. The others have been sucked beneath the power of the surrogate son who not only just told Agatha to fuck off, but went full-Wanda to do it. It just all seems too tailored to cut up any of the character progress Agatha’s made on the Road thus far. Getting harassed by her ghost mother and hearing her son’s voice don’t feel like a complete tear-down. This does. It feels like more trial.

The Gossip in Xianle must have been so wild and so juicy literally every character that we know that came from Xianle is full of judgement, side eyes and highly fluent sarcasm I know the Xianle Court must have been like an episode of desperate housewives.

Hi, Tin! I love your writing and I have a prompt for you, if you are interested) what if Tang family is too afraid of Tang Bo leaving permanently and eloping with Cheong Myeong? So they initiate marriage negotiations with Mount Hua. It can be angst (CM is socially isolated and insecure about his position) or romantic comedy (awkward situations and protective Cheong Mun), up to you). Thank you in advance!
It was a well-established fact that the Dark Saint of the Tang Family was one of their generation's best.
So it came as no surprise when an influx of marriage proposals flooded their family's estate—because rumors started flying around that the Dark Saint was in search of a partner.
The Dark Saint held a reputation for being cold and ruthless. To cultivators and martial artists, he was someone they feared making into an enemy due to his sheer battle prowess and poisonous abilities. To normal civilians, he was a genius who wielded the Tang Family's techniques with cool precision and intent; to them, he was just another mysterious cultivator that they would only ever know of through gossip and stories.
However, in recent years, something shifted. His reputation among common folk was slowly altered. It started off with a supposed battle between him and the Plum Blossom Sword Saint which turned into a sudden and unexpected friendship.
Whereas in the past the Dark Saint would only go around Sichuan and closeby villages, he was now found going around different major cities and unknown ones.
He was often in the company of Mount Hua's Plum Blossom Sword Saint, who worked with him side-by-side to eradicate groups from the Demonic Cult and the occasional bandits and thieves.
For supposed Taoists, the two visited different establishments to drink alcohol and talk cheerily. It was during one of these moments that the first rumor began its spark.
"Ahhhh," The Plum Blossom Sword Saint groans in satisfaction. "That sure hits the spot!"
The Dark Saint chuckles as he tosses back his own drink. "If only I could enjoy everyday like this. Alcohol really is the best."
"What would your future wife think?" The Plum Blossom Sword Saint jokingly and dramatically shakes his head in disappointment. "To have a husband who loves alcohol more than his own wife...!"
The Dark Saint wiggles his eyebrows suggestively. "Trust me, I would make sure that my wife knows full-well just how much I love them."
The two of them share a silent, private conversation with just their eyes alone, that none of the other restaurant's customers could decipher, before they leave a generous tip and went on their way.
It snowballs from there.
All of a sudden gossip went around about the Dark Saint's interest in finding a wife. And so several people came to the same conclusion.
The reason why the Dark Saint is travelling around more than usual is because he's looking for a prospective wife.
Clearly, the Plum Blossom Sword Saint was there to provide moral support. How truly admirable and strong their brotherhood must be!
On the other hand, the head of the Tang Family was fully aware of their Dark Saint's single-minded interest in Mount Hua's Chung Myung.
Seeing all the stacks of letters that ranged from proposing strategic alliances and general marriage offers brought the current head of the Tang Family to a very different conclusion.
Tang Bo was trying to slowly draw himself away from their family by leaving their estate. He might be on the hunt, jumping from village to village, trying to create a dowry befitting for the hand of the Plum Blossom Sword Saint and scouting out all the best locations to settle down in.
It really wouldn't be too surprising of an idea if one day a letter turns up from the man with an intent of permanently moving to Mount Hua or some backwater village.
The Tang Family head shakes the thought of losing one of their best and genius members to one of the Ten Great Sects. If he wanted to maintain their family's reputation, he'll need to strike the first move.
And so he begins to pen a decisive letter to the Sect Leader of Mount Hua.
%%%
Chung Mun's hands tremble as reads the letter sent to him by the Tang Family.
'Who did they think they were?' He would have bit out if he had any less self-restraint. The paper crumples in his grip and he receives a questioning glance from Chung Myung who was sprawled eating mooncakes on the opposite side of his desk.
"What's got you so worked up?" The subject of the letter askswithout a care.
Chung Mun takes a deep breath. "The Tang Family wishes for you to transfer into their estate."
He refuses to say out loud the marriage proposal that came along with this request. His Chung Myung was too young! The man might be a sixty years old, but that round face, cheeks carelessly bulging with mooncakes with crumbs littered on his chin, screamed too young for marriage!
"Oh." Chung Myung nods in understanding.
Chung Mun is glad that Chung Myung agrees that this was nonsensical. To think, they thought that Chung Myung would even leave Mount Hua for—
"After the war is over, Tang Bo and I were planning to be roommates and travel the world a bit."
—?????
"Roommates?" Chung Mun's voices comes out slightly strangled.
"Yup. It's going to be great."
"No."
"'No'?"
Chung Mun tries to run through his previous conversations with Tang Bo. He knew that the man was capable of being underhanded, but he was also well-aware that Tang Bo respected him enough to not blind-side him with something like this. Especially since it concerned Chung Myung.
...
...Oh no.
"Fuck." Chung Mun says, full of feeling as he recalls Tang Bo off-handedly asking permission to live together with Chung Myung in the future.
"...Sect Leader?"
Chung Mun had thought that was a joke! He thought Tang Bo wasn't being serious! They were talking with alcohol in their systems!
The alarmed look that crosses Chung Myung's face informed Chung Mun that the way he felt his blood drain from his face was a visible, physical reaction.
"He asked for your hand in marriage." Chung Mun says faintly. "I said yes."
Chung Myung blinked at him. "Yeah? He told me?"
Okay. Tang Bo, to his credit, hasn't been leaving Chung Myung in the dark at least.
If Chung Myung knows and isn't reacting violently that means that he isn't completely against this. Even if Chung Mun was, he had to reorganize his priorties.
And his number one would be to make sure Chung Myung was happy.
((And to make sure that the Tang Family doesn't think they can step on Chung Mun and pull his little brother away.))
"I'll have to recheck the sect's budget and my own savings to make sure we have enough for the wedding preparations..." Chung Mun mutters as he begins drafting a response to the Tang Family with what he thought were better marriage agreement conditions.
But then, a flash of dread causes Chung Mun to pause writing and leave a dark ink blot on the paper. He suspected, but he really wishes that he was wrong—!
"Huh?" Chung Myung gives Chung Mun a confused look. "We already got married though?"

**sort of a throwback this time lol. tang bo also adopted seo-ah already
ever since they rescued that small child from that dilapidated hut one fateful day, tang bo noticed chung myung's distant behaviour. he knows of chung myung's already lacking social life in his sect, something the sword saint has no control of.
and really, no one is as crazy as he is, befriending the sword saint all on his own.
granted, chung myung isn't someone to initiate social interactions unless necessary, being surprisingly introverted. he would be perfectly content to stand somewhere and wait for tang bo whenever he had something to do during their travels, preferrably somewhere with less crowd or something close to a shop that sells alcohol. the people who had the pleasure of getting the brunt of his ire most likely started the fight first...
... most of the time.
tang bo knew that it wouldn't end well for him if he'd force his hyung-nim to bond with the child but this little girl would be a big part of his life, and he wanted to atleast have his hyung love her as much as he does.
in the distance, chung myung is seen talking with his jangmun sahyung, completely in his element. tang bo likes that look on him, completely engaged in the conversation and being listened to in return. the baby on his lap coos and tang bo turns his attention to her.
“Hm? What was that?”
the baby reaches to the direction of where chung myung is standing, making adorable sounds. tang bo chuckles. his daughter is too cute.
“You like hyung, huh? Me too, little lady”, he says, to the baby, all giggly. the baby giggling at him giggling. perhaps tang bo finds a semblance of kinship with his daughter, as she's also completely enamored with the figure of his Taoist hyung.
tang bo adjusts his hold on his daughter, adjusting her seat on his lap so that she's facing chung myung in the distance. the other disciples in mount hua have no problem interacting with the baby, always finding time to visit despite their training.
Perhaps we need to take this one step at a time...
***
“Huh?”
chung myung is faced with a smiling tang bo, holding out his small daughter to him in hopes to—
“I want you to hold her, hyung”
the sword saint stares at his companion with narrowed eyes. “Are you crazy, you bastard?”
“Don't call me names in front of my daughter!”
chung myung scoffs. it's been almost a month since tang bo took in the child as his own. having been involved in her rescue, chung myung initially thought that after they nursed her back to health, they would find a family to take care of her as they're both respective elders of their sect.
as it turns out, tang bo's fondness for children extended to those outside his family. and being the one who mostly took care of the baby girl, the dark saint quickly became attached.
“She's not my kid, why would I do that.”
tang bo huffs, annoyed. “Hyung! just do it, will you? for me?”, he pleads.
“Why would I do that for you?”
tang bo lets out a frustrated sound, considering whether it'd be too early for his daughter to witness acts of violence this early on in her life. “Just do it!”
“... Do you not want her anymore?”
tang bo shields his daughter away from the bastard Taoist, fuming. he has the gall to look disappointed, his hyung! “Ah!! Don't say things like that in front of her!”, he yells, covering his daughter's ears as he looks at her.
“Don't listen to him, okay sweet one?”, says tang bo, completely ignoring chung myung's 'So it's okay to say it if it's behind her back?'
the little girl merely laughs cutely, clearly not understanding what is happening.
chung myung huffs. it wasn't unusual for tang bo to ask things of him. there were times whenever they were out together that tang bo would end up being occupied with whatever he's working on, leaving him left alone wandering the tang estate. the tang family was extra welcoming whenever it was those days.
but this?
“.. Are you crazy?”
“Stop asking me that, hyung..”
tang bo was well-aware of his position in the sect. chung myung was not someone whom people in his own sect can casually approach, only with the exception of chung mun, chung jin, and a handful of other elders. not that it mattered to him, but the fact remains that this crazy guy still wants him to hold a child of all things.. he's not exactly child-friendly.
plus he wouldn't know how.
“Hyung”, tang bo calls, snapping him out of his thoughts. “Just hold her, please?”
chung myung stares. “Why?”
the other sighs. “I've thought about this for a while already....”
“You're actually thinking for once?”
“...”
“...”
tang bo clears his throat, adjusting his grip on his ever fussy daughter. “Like I said, I've thought about this for quite a while already and I figured that I could trust her with you when I'm out doing business.”
“Can't you just bring her?”
tang bo shrugs. “On some occasions, maybe. But what if it's dangerous?”
chung myung raises an eyebrow. “And you think I'll be here when you're out there fighting?”
“It's not that I'll die that easily..” tang bo sighs. “It's just in case, hyung. Here, I'll help you”, he says, holding out his bright-eyed daughter to the hesitant sword saint.
chung myung stares at the held out baby girl with a slightly scrunched up look on his face, highly uncomfortable with... whatever. he holds out his arms and carefully holds the small girl by her sides, with a few distance between himself and the little girl he's holding.
tang bo holds the urge to laugh at his hyung's awkwardness. it's endearing to see him try so hard. albeit reluctant, it was unusual to see a prodigy struggle at something. “Here, hyung. Let me help”, he says, walking closer to the sword saint.
“You have to support her head and body”, tang bo says, maneuvering chung myung's arms into the proper position, making sure that the baby is not hurt or uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
((so sorry for the horrible sketch.. i did it in the middle of class <33
tang bo stares at the scene in front of him. the plum blossom sword saint awkwardly holding his daughter, looking more constipated than comfortable. chung myung is clearly out of his own comfort zone. the gentle but secure hold, the way he diligently follows tang bo's instructions in holding the small girl.
Is this what they said about seeing new sides to people when they become parents?
..
...
Huh?
the thought halts tang bo. parents? parenthood? wait wasn't he the parent here? why is he thinking about his hyung being a parent when he was just—
tang bo's entire face flushes red from the realization. did he really just— why did he even—
“Yah! What are you thinking so hard about? She's waking up! Take her!”, chung myung exclaims, snapping him out of his thoughts. his hyung is clearly not knowing comfortable with holding the baby any longer than necessary.
tang bo huffs. “You're so dramatic, hyung.. She's an angel!”
“Whatever! Just take her! I held her like you wanted!”
tang bo sighs. “Yes, yes give her here”, he says, taking the baby from chung myung's hold. the little girl quickly finds comfort in her father's arms and tang bo's heart soars.
he then went on and gushed about how absolutely perfect and endearing his daughter is to an exasperated chung myung, those dangerous lines of thought left unaddressed in his mind. to him, his objective to let his hyung hold his daughter is a success!
**
chung myung is seen having the child in his hold for many more times after that day, and when asked, he simply responded with: “That bastard keeps telling me to do it”
for the people observing him, they felt like that wasn't the only case, making this yet another secret they're keeping to the grave. they can't ever risk receiving the sword saint's ire, of course.

Ranting abt ch 700+:
Rereading ch 718 is to realize that what Cheongmun did wasn't the right decision, but a decision made on his expectation of the future. Like if cm never reincarnated, all of their sacrifices would've been bs. Letting cm find cj would give them a better shot at survival, or even if it doesn't, it was still better to cease to exist than prolonging their downfall and making innocent disciples pay the price of their mistakes.
But cmun made all of these decisions expecting cm to survive the war, which was a bit out of touch and cruel but bcuz cm is cm, logic doesn't matter (he's right abt that) . Cmun expected TGS to do their jobs, but he knew better than to trust them (that's why hwasan never had any real allies anyway) but he still bet on them so that someone can at least survive. Man was desperate, so desperate that he sent cj to escape on his own (why would u send the weakest one? no matter how much you trust him, willpower doesn't help him survive).
The rest here is speculative but I think cm feel less that his sahyung made the "mature choice" and more guilty upon realizing that the only reason they went all out was bcuz they trusted that he'll survive, that is what both cmun and cj "understood", but not him. What they fought for was hope, not victory, that was what cm didn't understand. In general the biggest stumble here was trusting TGS and expecting cm to survive, but it all worked out in the end, that makes it the right decisions.

the thought of tang bo shaving chung myungs face when hes unable to just came to me and im feeling a little bit faint from the intimacy of it all.. maybe theyve been fighting for a while and finally found a moment of reprieve alone together.. maybe chung myungs arms are too strained and shaky to handle a blade to carry out such a delicate task by himself, so he lets tang bos calloused and endlessly steady blood stained hands caress his jaw while the other grips onto one of his very own tang family smelted daggers, its only purpose meant for bloodshed, and lets him press it against the soft skin of chung myungs throat.... the absolute trust one must have to allow yourself to bare the most vulnerable part of your body to someone holding a knife is immense but to let them drag that knife so tenderly across your skin over and over again like a kiss, knowing at that very moment they hold your life in their hands and readily choose to protect it, must feel devastating

I say he is in Nepal, either at base camp, or less likely, scaling Everest. Your opinion on this theory?
Hi, Anon, as I said in a previous post, I have a slight obsession with all things Mount Everest, have read the books, watched the movies, the TV series, and every year when it's the push for the summit in May, I follow climbers on Instagram, and watch their treks up to the highest mountain on Earth. Soooo, I do have some knowledge on this subject. Here's my take...
I know Sam has said in interviews that one of his bucket list items is climbing Mount Everest. And he was supposed to star in that Everest movie. The thing is, climbing to the SUMMIT of Mount Everest is only done in May, usually mid May due to weather constraints. And the prep dictates you have to start 2 months before to acclimate to the high altitude. I'll talk more about that down below. IF you are able to spend the two months in either Nepal for climbing from the South side of Everest, or Tibet (controlled by China) for climbing from the North side of Everest, you will be climbing to almost 29,032 feet, 8,849 meters. This is literally the altitude that jet planes fly once they reach cruising altitude. Sam has this pesky thing called a contract to finish out the remaining seasons of Outlander. I highly doubt his Outlander contract, and the insurance company associated with it, would allow him to take such a risk. Every year, people DIE climbing up or on the way back down from the summit. And some people don't die, but they get severe frostbite and lose fingers, toes, tips of noses. It's not for the faint of heart, and it's not for handsome actors who need to keep their beautiful appendages intact for filming Outlander. Unless the writers can work on a storyline involving Jamie Fraser missing a few, um, things.
Having said that, it IS possible Sam could trek to Mount Everest BASE CAMP. This is the area at the base of the mountain that all climbers go to to prepare to climb higher up, and eventually to the summit. BUT, some people who aren't making summit bids, simply make Base Camp their one and only destination. And that may be a compromise Sam makes with Outlander producers. Base Camp is still REALLY, REALLY high. It's at 17,598 feet, 5,364 meters. Sam isn't putting himself in too much risk at Base Camp...unless there's an avalanche. Sadly, there have been avalanches there and many people have died, as a result, the last one being in 2015.
Everest Base Camp in Nepal is trekked either for the Summit bid season February to May, with all summit bids happening in May. OR, it is trekked JUST for the Base Camp in late September to November. We are now in November, so it IS possible. 👇
Tumblr media Tumblr media
BUT, you don't simply hop on a plane and get plopped down at Base Camp's 17,000 feet altitude. You could quite literally die from High Altitude Cerebral Edema and or High Altitude Pulmonary Edema due to the low oxygen levels. Soooo, IF Sam wanted to trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in Nepal, he would have to start acclimating at least two weeks before. All travelers going from Nepal's capital, Kathmandu at an elevation of 4,344 feet stay there for a few days, and then they do a 14 day trek up the mountains, to allow their bodies to acclimate to the altitude and the lower oxygen levels. 👇
Tumblr media
Sam would have to allow himself at LEAST 3 WEEKS to make the Everest Base Camp trek. 2 weeks to climb there and acclimate, and then you want to spend at least a week there camping and just being there. Then you have to allow time for the return climb back down. This isn't a weekend excursion.
As for whether Sam is actually trying to climb to Mount Everest SUMMIT. That would be a definite NO. Not only from an Outlander insurance and contract issue, but also because it's not summit climbing season. 👇
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
And for people who want to climb to the Summit, they have to make a 2 MONTH commitment. The summit climb entails the two weeks to climb to Base Camp. And then at least 6 weeks, climbing up and down from each of the higher camps. I think there are at least 4 camps that climbers stay at, higher and higher on the mountain, until they reach the Summit. 👇
Tumblr media
So, if a climber wants to go for a Summit bid, which is always in mid-May, they would have to start in mid-March and literally be on Mount Everest at the various camps the whole two months. It's a huge commitment. Most companies charge around $40,000 for the whole expedition. The reputable ones assign each climber a Sherpa to guide you. The Sherpas are natives to the area and they are expert climbers who are born in the area, therefore their bodies are completely acclimated to the high altitude. The expedition companies hire them to help climbers up the mountain. They set all the safety ropes, set up the camps, make the meals, and deal with the inevitable emergencies along the way. No one should climb without a Sherpa. Also, most companies will only take on a climber for a Summit bid if they can show previous experience in climbing at high altitude and have summitted a few of the highest peaks on Earth. That's not Sam. So, if anything, Sam would probably only be allowed to climb to Base Camp.
As you can see, I'm really, really into all things Everest and could keep writing all day hahaha. But, I'll stop here. I hope that was helpful info, Anon.
