You eyed the strap suspiciously from your perch on the bed as Emily harnessed herself up. You exhaled shakily and thought to yourself, There’s no way that’s gonna fit inside me.
Emily gave you a small smile when she looked in your direction. “You alright?” she asked, her voice confident yet concerned.
You nodded, but your voice shook. “Yeah. I’m fine.”
Emily chuckled, crawling toward you on the bed and placing her hand on the side of your face before kissing you. You were breathless by the time she let you go, with a quick peck on the tip of your nose.
“You’re a bad liar,” she said, smirking and sitting back. “If you don’t want to do this, we don’t have to.”
You picked at your fingernails and avoided her eyes.

“But did you like it when you did? Before?” You were far enough in now you might as well keep asking.

“So, like, what’s the deal with you and Vada?” Nick asked, glancing toward you.
The two of you were at his house, laying in his bed side by side, and talking about whatever came to mind. Usually, there was an energetic, babbling brunette between you, chatting your ears off and barely letting either of you get a single word in, but not this time. No, this time, Vada was at Mia Reed’s house, much to your discontent.
You clenched your jaw. “What’re you talking about?”
He twisted to lay on his side, his elbow digging into the mattress and his hand supporting his head so that he could look down at you. “I’m talking about the fact that you’ve been stewing in…whatever the hell you’re feeling right now…ever since Vada texted saying she can’t make it.”
You scoffed, thinking about the texts that the girl had sent in your group chat half an hour ago.

“I just think it’s rude to cancel on your best friends when you’re literally supposed to be hanging out with them at the time you cancel,” you said.
Nick hummed, pulling his lips tight. “Sure. That’s definitely why you’re upset.”
You sat up, eyes narrowed in suspicion and eyebrows drawn together. “Why are you saying it like that?”
He shrugged. “I just think that, maybe, you’re…jealous.” He said the last word carefully, like it would be the fuse that set off the bomb that was you.
“And why would I be jealous?” you pushed.
“Well, because you and Vada are doing”--he gestured with his hands--“whatever the hell you two are doing--”
“Friends with benefits, Nick,” you interrupted. “It has a name.”
“Yeah. That.” He rolled his eyes. “Whatever. My point is that you obviously have feelings for Vada, and our idiot friend has no idea, so she thinks it’s okay to just fuck around with whoever she wants.”
You chuckled dryly. “First of all, Vada’s not an idiot.” You paused, thought for a moment. “Okay, sometimes she’s an idiot.”
“Yeah, you got that right,” Nick muttered under his breath.
“Secondly…you think she’s fucking around with Mia?” you asked, voice cracking. Tears pricked at your eyes as you waited for him to answer, suddenly feeling too vulnerable.
“I mean, she hasn’t said anything about it, but they’ve been spending a lot of time together.”
You gulped. “Whatever.” Your eyes flitted around the room. “Just because I have feelings for Vada doesn’t mean she can’t fuck around with who she wants.” You shrugged. “It doesn’t feel great, sure, but…our situation isn’t exclusive or anything. If she wants to sleep with…Mia Reed…then she can.” You glanced down at your hands, trying to ignore the hurt building around your heart. “It doesn’t matter to me,” you finished quietly.
“Y/N,” he said softly, drawing your attention back to him. “You can talk to me about this, you know that, right? I’m not gonna run and tell Vada, okay?” He offered you a pitying smile. “I know it hurts you, and I know you don’t want to tell her about your feelings, but you should talk to someone.”
You shut your eyes, hard, and when you opened them again, you shook your head and sighed. “It’s okay, Nick. I’m fine.”
“Y/N--”
“Can we just talk about something else?” You bit your bottom lip. “Please?”
He sighed. “You know, you should try to take your mind off her. Maybe…hook up with someone else?” he suggested. When you glared at him, he said, “Wait, wait. Listen. If you hook up with other people, it’d probably help with your feelings, you know? Maybe you wouldn’t hold Vada in that…godly light you do.”
“It wouldn’t feel right.”
“Well, you said it yourself: you and Vada aren’t exclusive. It’s not like you’d be cheating on her or anything.” You mulled the thought over, and, when you didn’t respond, Nick continued with, “Just think about it, yeah?”

“Vada?” Mia asked as she opened her front door. “What’re you doing here?”
Instead of offering a response, Vada pushed past her and beelined to her bedroom, leaving the blonde to catch up. When she did, the brunette was pacing around the room, and, for a moment, Mia was positive that she’d end up burning a hole in the floor.
“Dude, what’s wrong?”
Vada turned to her, eyes wide and bottom lip pulled between her teeth. “I’m going through, like, a serious crisis right now.”
“O…kay…” Mia stepped forward, placed a hand on Vada’s shoulder, and guided her toward the bed. She sat her down, but the brunette’s leg wouldn’t stop bouncing, and Mia sighed. “I thought you were supposed to be with Y/N and Nick right now. Why don’t you talk to them about it?”
“Because Y/N is the crisis,” Vada admitted meekly. She glanced at Mia. “Every time I think about her, my heart starts racing, and I can feel my entire body get…oddly warm, and it's like I constantly itch to be around her.”
Mia’s eyes widened, her mouth falling open slightly as she whispered, “Oh.” She smiled softly, excitedly. “You like Y/N.”
Vada shook her head fervently. “No. No, I--I can’t.” She stood and began her pacing again. “I can’t like Y/N because we’re supposed to be best friends…who sleep together, I guess, but that doesn't change the fact that we started off as best friends. And--and, our…benefits thing, it’s supposed to be no strings attached, just fun, so I can’t like her, because she doesn’t like me back. Plus, that’s, like, illegal in the world of friendships.” She took a deep breath in and looked at Mia. “Isn’t it? Tell me it’s illegal, Mia.”
“Vada, it’s okay if you like her,” Mia said. “I feel like that’s bound to happen in this situation. I mean, you’re best friends, and you’re having sex. You’re kind of…basically…a little bit…in a relationship, if you think about it.” She shrugged. “So it makes sense that you’d have feelings for her.”
“No, you don’t get it. Y/N…she doesn’t see me that way. She just…doesn't.”
“How do you know?”
“Because I know her.”
Mia hummed. “Have you asked her?”
Vada groaned and threw her hands over her face. “No, I haven’t asked her!” she whined into her palms. “Why would I ask her? Then she’d pick up on my feelings. Duh!”
“Maybe that’s not a bad thing?” Mia said. “I mean, Y/N could like you back, Vada. It’s not an impossibility.”
“Yes it is!” She peeled her hands away from her face to look at the other girl. “Y/N doesn’t like me. End of story. But”--she sighed--“I do like her. So, what am I supposed to do with that?”
Mia grimaced. “I really think you should talk to her.”
Vada groaned again. “You are no help!”

“Nick, I really don’t wanna go to this,” you said as the boy parked outside of Mia’s house. Through the windows, you could see flashing lights, the silhouettes of people you were sure were your classmates, and a haze of smoke.
Nick turned to you. “It’ll be fun, Y/N! You can either get drunk out of your mind or…do what we talked about.”
“Nick--”
He raised his hands in surrender. “All I’m saying is that if Brittany from math happens to flirt with you, don’t turn her down, okay? She’s hot, and I know she’s into you.”
You groaned. “Fine. Whatever.”
You climbed out of the car, slammed the door shut, and ignored Nick’s smug grin as the two of you walked to the front door. Just before you were about to push it open, he spun on his heel, and said, “Also, Vada’s gonna be here.”
“Nick!” You hadn’t talked to the girl since she flaked on your plans the other day, and you weren’t exactly keen on seeing her, the idea of her sleeping with Mia floating through your head.
“What?”
“I hate you, you know,” you grumbled.
He grinned. “Sure you do, tiger.”
The entire party was a whirlwind. One moment you were entering the house, the next you were downing your fourth or fifth shot of the night, and the next you were standing in Mia’s kitchen as Brittany from math batted her eyelashes at you and offered you a sly smile.
“I feel like I never see you at these, Y/N,” she said.
You nodded lazily, the alcohol fogging up your mind. “Yeah.”
“Well…” She ran her hand up your arm until it rested on your shoulder. “I’m glad you decided to come tonight.” She flashed you a grin as her eyes ran down your body. “You look really good.”
Nick’s idea was pounding at the front of your mind, and you knew what he’d say if he were there: Just kiss her! However, you hadn’t seen the boy since you first arrived; he had mysteriously disappeared.
“Thanks,” you said, smiling. “You look good, too.”
“You think so?” She was leaning closer to you, her hand tightening on your shoulder.
“Yeah. Yeah, you look…great.”
Her eyes flitted down to your lips. You gulped and dragged your tongue across your bottom one. She seemed to take the nervous action as one of invitation, and suddenly she was a breath away. You could feel her short puffs of air on your lips, but all you could think about was the fact that she wasn’t your brunette best friend, and that she was taller than you instead of shorter, and that her eyes were blue instead of brown. You hated it.
You were pulled out of your thoughts by the sound of a cup hitting the ground and a drink splashing across the floor. When you glanced over Brittany’s shoulder, you spotted Vada standing feet away, her eyes wide and pooling with tears, her mouth agape like she was ready to sob.
She caught your glance and turned away quickly. You watched as one of her arms drew up, hand likely swiping across her face, and your stomach dropped. You glanced back at Brittany, who looked like she was more than ready to pounce on you.
“I’m sorry,” you rushed out before slipping away from her quickly, leaving her no room to argue. You pushed through the crowd, trying to keep your eyes on the head of brown hair that you could see scurrying away. “Vada!” you called desperately. “Vada!”
She didn’t slow down. Instead, she seemed to pick up the pace, and you cursed, finding it more difficult to get past people. You didn’t bother to apologize for any drinks you spilled, or for bumping into couples making out, or for ignoring other people trying to talk to you. You just needed to get to Vada.
Finally, you caught her outside, where she bent over, her hands on her knees, and, at first, you thought she was throwing up. You were quickly proven wrong, however, as you heard her gasping for air, trying to keep her sobs at bay.
You approached her slowly. “V,” you said quietly, placing a hand on her back. She whirled around and took a step back, staring up at you with an expression that could only be described as pure hurt. “Vada…”
“Don’t,” she warned. “It’s fine. I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine, V,” you said, taking a step forward. “Listen, what you saw back there--”
“Is fine,” she interrupted. “We’re just best friends with benefits, and…and you don’t like me, and that’s fine.”
You furrowed your eyebrows, confused. “What…? Why would that matter?”
She scoffed and glanced at her feet. “Yeah, why would that matter?” she repeated sarcastically.
“Vada, I’m being serious.” You took another cautious step forward and ducked down a bit so that you could look her in the eyes. “I understand if you’re upset, okay? I mean, I get it…but, you know, we should probably talk about it?”
“There’s nothing to talk about.”
You huffed. “Fine. If you want to close yourself off like this, then fine. I know how you operate, V, and I know I’m not gonna get anything out of you like this. I just…I want you to be okay.”
She looked at you. “Is that why you were kissing Brittany? Because you want me to be okay?”
“I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean!” You threw your arms out to the side, let them fall and slap against your legs. “I’m just trying to--to forget about the whole…friends with benefits shit right now and just be your friend, Vada.” You slumped your shoulders. “Can you just talk to me?”
“I like you, okay?!” she shouted suddenly, clenching her eyes shut. “I like you, and you obviously don’t like me back, and that’s fine. I’ll deal.” She ran a hand down her face. “You should probably go back inside to Brittany.”
Silence blanketed you, filling the air as you took in her words.
“You like me?”
Vada bit her bottom lip and sighed in defeat. “Yeah. I do.” She looked at you. “I’m sorry.”
“I thought you were--Are you not sleeping with Mia, too?”
Her face scrunched. “Why would I be sleeping with Mia?”
You shrugged. “I don’t know. You guys have just been spending a lot of time together, and Mia’s, you know, conventionally attractive, and Nick brought it up, and I just…I don’t know. The idea stuck with me, I guess.”
“Well, I’m not sleeping with Mia. I don’t…” She shivered. “I can’t even think of Mia that way.”
“Oh.” You furrowed your eyebrows. “So, you like me?”
“Do I have to say it again?”
You chuckled suddenly, and Vada watched you. “Dude, we’re fucking idiots.”
“W--what?”
“I like you, too, Vada.” You shrugged, looking around sheepishly. “I just didn’t say anything because I thought that you were, you know, not into me like that.”
“But…Brittany?”
“Nick wanted me to try hooking up with someone else to distract myself from you.” You scoffed. “Obviously it didn't work. But, I mean, we didn’t--I didn’t kiss her. I couldn’t stop thinking about you.”
Her eyes widened as the realization hit her, and she laughed. “Oh my god, we are literally so stupid!”
“I know,” you said. You took a step forward, cupped her cheek with your hand. “So, does this mean I can kiss you, then? You know, in a more romantic way than friends with benefits?”
Vada nodded. “Yes please.”
Before you even had the chance to pull her in, she was pressing her lips to yours, melding them together like she never wanted to be separated from you again. And, honestly, you didn’t think that sounded half bad.

I am back with another 2nd person experimental piece that is literally just Fay but kept nameless because why not?

Mihawk finds you in a crowded bar on Water 7, shoulder to shoulder with locals and sailors of all types. This was one of those rare instances where he went seeking you on purpose, as typically he left you to wander where-ever you pleased on the Grand Line. Yet he does not approach you right away, watching the crowd shift and reveal you were otherwise occupied with someone else.
So occupied that you did not even notice him enter in the first place.
He settles himself at the far side of the taproom to observe, paying no mind to how the other patrons stutter at his presence when he passes. Even from a distance he can easily read the tension in your narrow shoulders, your posture too rigid as if you were coiled to spring into action at any second. The individual that is the cause of such obvious discontent is another woman.
She matches you in height but with a curvier build and shorter hair; he does not recognize her from any other of your associates he'd become acquainted with over the years. Yet the sense of hostile familarity between you both tells him that regardless of whoever she is, you are clearly unhappy to see each other. The drone of the tavern's crowd ebbs into white noise as he attempts to listen in on the exchange - and realizes quickly you are speaking your native language and doing so too rapidly for him to properly follow.
So the Warlord waits and watches, curious and perhaps a little concerned for how you flush with indignation and for the tremor in your arms as you restrain some outpouring of emotion. Your voice never rises above the cacophony to draw too much attention from others but he can tell the argument is of interest to a few.
Mihawk has known you for just under two years at this point and he'd never seen you so incensed before. He knew you to be reserved and level headed and those traits are only partially why he enjoyed your company so much. Your docile demeanor complemented his own aloof tendencies but this encounter is so unlike what he is accustomed to seeing from you. The tension is prime to snap at any moment and he sees the course of action you take seconds before you commit to it. A swift movement of your hand gripping the tumbler nearby and it gets launched behind the bar in an explosion of shattering glass and your voice lifting to a broken octave.
Stillness ripples throughout the bar at the outburst, Mihawk feels the crackle of tension and the electric tingle of your haki skitter over his skin. There are tears flowing freely down your face and your shoulders are shivering from the force of the anguish that had overtaken you. He didnt like it. An uncomfortable twist somewhere in his gut at the sight of you so clearly distraught, such a sharp contrast to the witty, gentle natured person he had gotten to know over time.
It made him realize that in the grander scheme of things, he really did not know much about you.
You shove through the crowd and leave the tavern without looking at anyone else. He lingers long enough for the noise level to return to normal before rising to stand and following your trail out into the streets.

A cocktail of embarassment, anguish, anger and betrayal burned all the way down your throat as you left the bar. This was not how you imagined the day ending. Infact, you hadnt spared a single thought about seeing her again after you left your home island two years ago. Then she had suddenly appeared like a fucking living nightmare when you had only come to Water 7 for a leisurely trip away from Kuraigana. She had no right showing up here! Absolutely no goddamn right to haunt one of your favorite hang outs and drink with your acquaintances so casually as if she hadnt ruined your fucking life.
It was hard to see, even harder to think beyond the feeling of an old wound you thought had scarred over, ripping open and bleeding anew. Your eyes blurry from tears and your throat tight with the crushing blend of anxiety, fury and despair.
You wanted to scream, you wanted to break anything you could get your hands on, you wanted to drown yourself in the sea if it meant relief from having to process the grief all over again. For just a few seconds, you grasped the hilt of your double-edged blade and considered wreaking hapless destruction in the abandoned portions of Water 7. Yet none of that happened. You half ran all the way back to the docks on sheer instinct.
The tears hadnt stopped flowing even as you reach the waterfront beneath the deepening twilight, stumbling and then dropping down to sit at the edge of a platform and let the crushing weight of that wretched encounter bow your shoulders low. Even two years after the fact and she wanted to pretend she did nothing wrong. It wasnt fair.
"[Name]", the cool tenor of a familiar voice jerks you out of your painful reverie, shoulders pulling back and head twisting to peer up at the shadowed visage of Mihawk standing over you. His eyes glint beneath the dark halo cast from his cavalier hat.
You turn away hastily and shudder through several strained sobs, feeling ashamed that he would see you like this. You had somehow managed to befriend the reticient greatest swordsman but there was an ever present barrier between you - something self imposed because of your own insecurity around being remotely worthy to even warrant his attention. Would he think lesser of you for this? Had he been in the tavern to witness that disaster?
"[Name]," Mihawk says again in a marginally gentler tone and you feel the slight pressure of his hand wrapping around your bicep, his body heat now considerably closer as he reached down into your space. "We have somewhere to be, let us not tarry here." His voice lacks its typical brusque edge and you think he almost sounds concerned, even coaxing. You nod and let him help haul you to stand, still pointedly avoiding looking at his face.
Why delay the inevitable any further?
"You saw, didnt you?" You ask, hating how raspy you sounded from crying.
A few heartbeats of silence and then, "I saw enough." His touch goes from your arm to resting on your shoulder, "I wont pry but I will listen, if you deign to share."
It's an unexpected offer but ultimately not unwelcome, though the idea of spilling out your heartbreak does lodge a knot in your throat. You rarely volunteered information about your past to Mihawk and he inquired very little of you in the first place - whether out of disinterest or pragmatic acceptance you had never been certain. The silence stretched on as you mulled over the offer and what it meant for your friendship with him.
"I'll explain later," you decide quietly, tentatively brushing your hand against his that lingered on you.
Mihawk hums in acceptance and keeping his hand in place, prompts you to walk further onto the creaking docks with him. His quiet, unfaltering confidence was a balm to the aching in your chest. Part of you still felt so undeserving of him that it only compounded the hurt.
As if sensing your turmoil, the swordsman cleared his throat and recited calmly, "The calm before the storm, we need to mollify, our inner tempest."
The haiku is soothing and it tempts a muted, pleased huff from you.
"Great heroes need great sorrows," you recite in response, wiping the lessening tears from your eyes as you peek at him shyly from beneath your lashes.
"Sorrow need not be carried alone," Mihawk retorts languidly and you choke on another soft cry, this one a tangle of gratitude and pain.
You really did not deserve him.

black: the plot never got to this point, but yeah the book of death would’ve allowed him to summon white space hands. also small thing about the mask i never mentioned - it’s asymmetrical to represent both sunny and omori. sunny’s side is a lot softer, with the broken horn and smaller fangs, while omori gets the fucked up eye and significantly sharper points. idk. fun detail.
orange: his rabbit’s foot is visible now, yay! the streak of light behind him is highlighted yellow instead of green because like. yes his card is torn yes he’s activating stomp’s discard but consider - stomp discard is hard to visually show. just pretend he’s doing it. also his shoes are supposed to resemble a paw, to lean into the dog aesthetic.
navy: i never want to draw guns again. the boots are more styled after green’s, but that’s basically the only change.
pink: oh yeah, other than her bat her signature would’ve been illegally modified fireball cards. that’s why their halos are so shaky. the actual modification would’ve been making them double barreled as opposed to the in-game single barrel. didn’t draw her with them because guns suck and i hate them.
lavender: did i ever mention she’s a non-combatant? she does the bare minimum to qualify for the 10 days of judgement but otherwise does not participate. that’s why she doesn’t have any cards.
mint: like black, mint uses the book of death to summon extra help. his is vines instead of hands because duh, it’s basil, he’s a gardener, that’s his whole thing.

IMO Nanako and Mimiko prove Gege is... Not a very good writer
This post is a stream of conscious mess and Gege could be a good writer but they fuck it up enough that they really Aren't.
they could've died to Jogo and nothing would have changed. Or they could've been burned by Jogo like Maki and still survived
Junpei ALREADY showed that Sukuna was ruthless, their deaths do nothing to further his characterization, and actively cheapen the weight of Junpei's death by extension as his Newest Victims. Like unless you're Me, who got Unhealthily Attached, you probably don't give a shit (or even forgot) that they Existed and then Died. And that's just... Wow, Sukuna killed two young girls. #Unbeatable #TheStrongestSorcererOfHistory moment
They are Geto's last straw, he uses them as an excuse to give up on the world. And then their relationship with Geto is intensely one-sided and barely shown at all, with them being overshadowed by Gojo despite the fact there's some very interestion potential in Geto having in some ways chosen them OVER Gojo, and yet Geto seems to care about them less than Gojo (which of course is bc we only see Geto's cult when they are Plot Relevant and most of that involves Gojo)
Fucking Larue and Miguel can talk about "loving" and "mourning" Geto but can't talk about the two literal children?
I would love to discuss them as their own characters without circling back to Geto but it's really hard because. While yes, Geto is an important figure to them (he's their father) they barely have any CHARACTER outside of their relationship with him. And this is actually not inherently a flaw- they were raised in a cult and presumably isolated from peers their age, and it's not unexpected that they would have difficulty developing a sense of self due to that!
THE PROBLEM IS THIS ISNT ACTUALLY EXPLORED AND IT ENDS UP WITH THREE WHOLE TEENAGE GIRLS WHO EXIST PRIMARILY TO DEFINE GETO, WHICH IS FUCKING WEIRD AND MISOGYNISTIC
^ note- Riko has very little screentime, and while her death is a significant turning point in the narrative, it is primarily used as an excuse for Geto to seem more """justified""" in his extremism. Hell her relationship* with Yuki is barely explored At All, and the only reason I don't say Yuki is basically also just fucking fodder for Geto Development is because she has the shit going on with being a star plasma vessel
*even if Riko and Yuki never met there is an inherent relationship in that Yuki thinks the star plasma stuff is Fucked Up and therefore would have Opinions about Riko. And that's never fuckin explored so
Nanako and Mimiko have a lot of potential as parallels/foils (idk which term would fit better) to Maki and Mai.
Twins- Maki and Mai discriminated against within the jujutsu world for their lack of abilities, Nanako and Mimiko discriminated against because of their status as sorcerers
Family - obviously there's the Zen'ins, a powerful family who suck and hate Maki + Mai, and obviously you can talk about the cult/Suguru, but I want to draw attention to something specific - when the villagers are talking to them, the say something along the lines of "you're the same as your parents" (implying their parents are sorcerers). This implies their parents were also victims of discrimination (tucks my "the Hasaba twins are mixed and that's part of why the town was so ready to demonize + abuse two VERY young children" agenda in here) but it contrasts two outcasts within a family vs a family of outcasts within a larger society
Mass Murder - look at me. Do I have to explain this one. Okay actually to go more in depth while Mai specifically asks for Maki to "destroy everything", knowing damn well what the concept of death is, the Hasaba twins are like 6 and also clearly afraid of Suguru. They probably don't fully understand death and clearly didn't ask for him to do SHIT- that was all his choice. Also maybe it's just me but it seems like it's implied he left them in the cage when he went to do mass murder and on one hand yeah don't. Show the kids mass murder. On the other hand FOCUS ON THE ABUSER CHILDREN YOU STUPID FUCK. Okay actually genuinely thinking about it new point I just thought of
Abandonment - Mai (justifiably in some ways) feels like Maki is abandoning her. Then Mai dies and Maki feels alone and that's handled really fucking poorly bc she becomes a weapon and the actual emotional weight of that plot beat is Pretty Non-existent. But also like- think about the twins- Geto LEFT THEM THERE. It seems like he murdered everyone within the village (112 people) BEFORE going back to get them- and the shots in the anime show that like. There's a significant amount of land he was HUNTING PEOPLE DOWN. But even if it's just, like, an hour (which feels like. Not a lot of time to murder + burn down the entire village). That's insanely traumatic. Like obviously the situation Without Him is traumatizing for them but he LEAVES and COMES BACK to save them. Just SAVE THEM FIRST. Because it's... Uncomfortably easy to see how this would inspire separation anxiety and trauma responses related to being left alone. Yeah he used a curse to tell them it would be okay but like. They're six. Even just an hour is a long fucking time and also the curse is literally monstrous so like. Suguru is not equipped to deal with child abuse in both an understandable way (also a child) but also in just. Lacking common sense (LET THE KIDS OUT OF THE CAGE MOTHERFUCKER). ANYWAY there's also the abandonment of him Basically committing suicide-by-cop with Yuuta and Satoru and like. Awesome your kids are orphans a second time father of the year.
Where am I
Revenge - Maki, Nanako, and Mimiko are all motivated by revenge- Maki wants to spite her clan by becoming the head and being a sorcerer, Nanako and Mimiko internalized their father's shit beliefs 1. Cult indoctrination and grooming (not sexual just like. Cult shit) 2. Actual genuine trauma from being persecuted 3. Listen if I was adopted by a mass murderer and had 0 other ppl to turn to. I'd probably agree with anything he said no matter what Id force myself to agree because HOLY SHIT IT WOULD BE REALLY EASY TO KILL THEM AND NO ONE WOULD KNOW BECAUSE. AGAIN. ISOLATION AND BEING ORPHANS. Also Mai is trying to stick to the status quo but decides revenge is fine, actually, and good for her
All four of the had that stupid bob cut growing up.
Anyway Nanako and Mimiko are some of the series greatest wasted potential and also kinda reveal a lot of probably unconscious biases in Gege's writing of women/girls and theyre abuse victims (both of the village and Suguru bc. Suguru is a fucking CULT LEADER) but never really. Characterized beyond props for Suguru to Have Feelings About (but only when they're 6) and they don't even get any closure with Kenjaku like fucking no one does ngl I hate the idiot survivor arc and now they're my daughter's and I'm making them half Chinese goodbye

Normally i don't do this because like. While I'm well aware i can have my own opinions, i still don't want to make anyone feel bad for me being a disliker ( maybe hater? ).
Spoilers / talking about the new Venom movie below. If you liked it I'm glad you did! If you want to explain in why in comments, feel free! /genuine
I'll start with: i had a bad-ish day so maybe everything soured my mood and i wasn't ready i. The end. I also picked the wrong ticket and had to watch it in 3D < not a 3D fan due to being sensitive to flashing lights.
What i did like:
Implications of being bonded since v1
Knull ( surprisingly, i hate the comic story though I'm gonna be so real. But its been awhile since i looked up the plot/story ).
Agony and the Christmas themed Symbiote
Horse.
Dancing.
The blue symboite and that fire symbiote ( so pretty?? I loved the different powers and such. I want to draw both of them ).
The symbiote hunter, shes gorgeous.
What i Did NOT like:
Toxin being erased entirely.
They killed of Carnage and Cletus in 2 so this whole thing flopped without them IMO
You can see where Disney or Sony whoever wanted this or that but when Tom or whoever didn't want it, it got scrapped and had messy left overs.
Too much action and too much comedy ( the dancing was fine, but the hippie family deal went on a bit too long imo ).
Why was Agony introduced but not the other three? Specifically Scream at least?
Knull having his own thanos moment for sony, a spin off or whatever they're doing.
Eddie's ENTIRE attitude.
That Montage was ASS. Hate that song too.
Too much going on imo
I would have loved to have a genuine queer moment, a kiss, a "i love you", literally anything. I can MAYBE understand if they tried but Sony or Disney said no ( fuck them ) but still. And no i was one of the few that hope there wasn't fucking or kiss with HARD tongue ( i am ace and also these two are my dads to me, it would've been awkward ). Yeah i see some people saying "Its textual" !!!
Yea sure thats nice but aren't you tired? It doesn't have to be queer baiting but like. I'm so tired.
Even if you remove that um? Its not.. that great.
I'm WILLING to watch it again and read positive sides. Because my mood just may have soured.
i think my biggest issue if i take everything away what i just said, is Eddie just going back to being annoyed at every little thing Venom does or wants. ITS OKAY to be concerned about being found by the hunter, but even before then hes just so done. And even during? He should've been concerned. Or Yeah he CAN be annoyed / irritated, but it should be with care. This felt like he was back to thinking of Venom as a tumor, something he just needs to get rid of.
It was vastly upsetting as someone who has partners. Like.. it would be okay if this was the second or first- but it isn't!!!!! And yeah couples fight, but they didn't even do that. Couples have disagreements! But they didn't even talk it out or anything.
Also like? One of my things that bugged me was, when Eddie was complaining about his feet, and we knew Venom couldn't fully take over..... why didn't Venom just yk. Cover his feet for him and walk? That would have been a subtle sweet gesture while they could've still been bantering and so on.
If they had like. Argued, fought, had an emotional moment at the end, Eddie was upset he never got to apologize- i could see it. But thats another thing- he wasn't even THAT upset...
Its fine to not be a super empathetic person, fuck i dont always cry appropriately either. But he didn't show Nothing and not in a "i'm a no empathy person" way.
Idk!!!!!!!! My brain is scrambled.
People have said a lot of what i have problems with already but idk i just!!! Feel the need to put it out there.
Also i missed the second end credit scene :,)
Note: I'm not angry or completely a hater. More so neutral and not a huge fan of some things.

So we have kind of a repeat situation with the whole idea of "legacies that shouldn't be pass down/have to bear".
With the old man we get the responde in tfg :
"left me his fortune so that if and when his enemies descended after his death, they would descend on me."
So we could say in theory that Odette also has enemies that could potentially come after her family should she have won the game. She said she made the decision after the lights went out.
Who are those enemies? I suppose it is Alice Hawthorne with the whole Omega thing (which I suspect could be some kind of organization/group like the Devils Mercy). It could also be Eve but she is a bit more of a wild card in my opinion, she could be working for someone else but also just for herself. Maybe she's now part of the Omega.
On a side note, I wonder why Jameson and Avery haven't told Grayson about Alice. It's been a year.
I think is pretty obvious Lyra was brought by the Omega. And if Eve is part of them, the person that put the notes would be Slate.
The lily is must definitely a symbol of significance for the Omega. AND CALLA, I feel she's Emily but worse, because she's probably a part of the Omega.

I also wonder what the old man did to Odette. What was so important for Alice to literally come back from the dead to ask him a favor? Like, that's quite the unhinged behavior, girl. Could it be that Odette left the Omega and whatever Alice asked for was a repercussion for that?

Why was he disowned? Why did Calla tracked him down? By the way, fuck you Brady like he just told Knox their mentor was dead and lied about his mother having cancer. What the Thorps relationship with the Omega (guessing by Calla's name)? Why did Knox accept working for them? He said it was for the money but what did he need the money for?
Because he insisted that he shouldn't be trusted but the way I see it, he ended up being way nicer than Brady, so idk if he would have a shallow reason. I mean he's clearly a loyal person but something happened with Calla (which by the way, we're assuming he actually talked with her but maybe he just got shot and have no idea why) and with Brady that he betrayed him. So clearly he was desperate.
Random panic: WHY DID SLATE KIDNAPPED GIGI? OMG I ship them so hard tho

s2e3 rewatch notes
One more before the weekend...
"When I was a kid anything that would give me some type of excitement, or amusement or enjoyment would get fucked ... Sometimes they'd try too hard, or they'd make promises they weren't able to keep" - everything in Carmy's AA statement can be related to cooking, the restaurant, drawing, Claire - pretty much the sum of Carmy's parts now.
Second Carmy/Syd kitchen scene:
Carmy is always the first to ask about anyone's parents (but only to Syd) - just like he inquires about Syd's Dad, his first concern is to ask about Marcus' mom while they debate sending him to Copenhagen. Family and people, in general, are always at the forefront of his mind, while progression is always at the forefront of Syd's (even if she does genuinely cares and checks in, it's secondary)
Carmy's "I want to make a suggestion" to go out was so loaded - it was obviously a premeditated move that he wanted to do the food tour with Syd. "I think WE need to go out, and we need to try some stuff"
After he tells her he'll see her in an hour, Goodbye Girl by Squeeze starts playing, and the track ends as Tina realizes that Ebra isn't ever going to be by her side in class *dies twice*
Richie dropping off his daughter: I have a precocious 6-year-old daughter as well and.....they tried to squeeze way too many lines into Eva to advance Richie's storyline when it should have come via Tiff or something - I hate being a negative nelly, but this part is so botched/lifetime drama-y.
(His obvious tenderness is sweet though)
10:44am call with Claire: this is only 2ish hours after his AA talk - I guess the subject matter was resonating with him?
Her forcing the convo on how ingratiated she is with his family makes me throw up my hands and say "no wonder the guy had a fucking panic attack later!". I was just highlighting how in AA how his family tries too hard sometimes - this is a prime example with her "I know all the fuckin' Faks" jousting.
And my god, she knew he was about to tell her that he was busy today, and she claps back "can you not make this weird?" - it literally harkens back to his family's bullying and expectations that Carmy will pacify them. (I know she can't know all this, but damn)
This part of the conversation gets its own bullet point:
"You know, he [Fak] told me that you guys are really close and that he's your best friend" - I didn't realize the first go around how bold the attempt at enmeshment was. With Fishes as context, the toxicity levels in this conversation are off the rails.
Also, her demented smile when she says "really?" when he says "no...no, Fak's not my best friend" - aggghhhh!
"No, no. He is. He's probably my best friend"
What the hell is this? "That's interesting, to sit with, for you" with the continued weird little smile -this isn't flirting, this is her relishing in the fact that she can manipulate him.
Why didn't I clue into how caustically fucked this scene was the first time? I think I was so distracted by the whispy dialogue and cadence of the conversation that I actually blacked out of the dialogue. Thank goodness for subtitles, because this script is mildly psychotic to read.
I know Storer said that one of the themes of this season is "winning is losing" - Claire is definitely playing to win at all costs. Is s2e10 showing that she lost? Or am I sitting through this dialogue again next season? I NEED TO KNOW.
Anyways, Secret Teadrops by Martin Rev (google the lyrics) plays as sydney enters Kasama - God, the music suggests she was thrilled to be spending a day out of the usual context with Carmy, and her checking her phone constantly is killing me.
Twenty Five Miles by Edwin Starr starts playing at the start of the food montage, just as Sydney gets the text from Carmy that she'll be doing it alone.
"I've been walking for three days and two lonely nights, and you know that I'm mighty mad"
After the owner of Avec tells her that she needs a great partner above all else, the lyrics blare again with "although my feet are tired, I can't lose my stride" - she can't abandon faith in Carmy just yet.
After the Pelican meats scene where the butcher (I forget his name, sorry!) tells Syd that he and his wife lost their restaurant in Bucktown after a business partner cut and ran, the song again blares with "I'm SO tired, but I just can't lose my stride"
Syd starts to adjust her language to "I'm not exactly solo" in the next restaurant scene- ugh - painful.
Enter conversations about profit sharing. Naiya assumes that she and Carmy are INVOLVED involved, and when she finds out they're just "gentleman's agreement" partners, she basically tells her to watch her back. Syd registers the statement, but looks so dejected, like she knows she's on a fool's errand now.
The lyrics flare one last time simply with "I've got to walk on"
Cue Carmy's phone going to voicemail as she has the jitters on the loading dock. She looks so sad, but also resigned to her fate at this point.
Sydney calls Marcus right after trying to call Carmy looking for any kind of sign or reinforcement. We're at the triangle again, with Marcus interpreting it one way, and Syd....really not reading anything into it at all.
I feel like Fak making fun of Marcus for "looking forward' with that big, dumb smile on his face means he knows Marcus' affection for Sydney.... and I'm starting to realize all the plots I don't like are the result of Fak's intuition and/or meddling.
Syd awkwardly trying to poach BOH workers is adorably baller and shows how aggressive she is just now realizing she needs to become- and she's so terrible at it, and I love her.
Future Perfect by Duretti Column (what an awesome deep cut) playing - I love that this part of the montage is Syd diving deep into herself and her more analytically-bent creative process and fuck everyone else. It's just her carrying the creative load of the restaurant right now, but she's truly free.
Lyrics repeat "You tell me stories, you speak in pictures"
She's being absolutely present ("Don't live in the future") and letting the food and the city that birthed it speak to her honestly and it's just so beautiful. The old family pictures surface in her memory alongside the plates she's crafting - her own contribution to the chaos menu, her past and present combined, her future (The Bear) undetermined.
Back to The Bear with "Make You Happy" by Tommy McGee playing in the background - I feel like enough ink has been spilled on this scene, but honestly read the lyrics here - ack.
One small observation after Carmy says "I'll let you know" - in the background, Marcus looks completely defeated, Fak's suppressing a laugh or something, and we get Richie's "ooooooohhhhhhh!"while Carm gives him dagger eyes. Y'all....these are not great men.
Syd rightfully realizes she needs to get the fuck away from everyone in that instant if she's going to do anything productive with the inspiration she's culled from her day of exploration and calls in the favor from the kitchen. I love that it almost immediately cuts to her there with her emotional support spoon 🥺
The ravioli failure - i.e. the fantasy vision of the food she had on the plate during her journey day not matching the reality of what she can craft on her own = the fantasy vision of the restaurant/life she could craft with Carmy not matching the reality of what she can is forced to craft on her own.
Oof, taking a break for a few days now....

Togafuka is so funny cause there’s literally no situation I can envision those two actually getting together. Togami is a jerk he’s intentionally written like that. Their whole relationship is written as a joke at Toko’s expense and it’s honestly wasn’t that funny to begin with. He wants nothing to do with her and the only time he did learn something about her he used it to out her to everyone.
When Toko said she hates him in Chapter 2’s trial that was a painful yet genuine statement. While Toko tends to throw insults at others mostly you can chalk that up to quirk of hers but what she said to Togami there before she blacked out into Syo you can feel the pain in her in that moment and he blacking out into Syo wasn’t no coincidence I am sure if that happened outside of a class trial Syo would have killed him.
Similarly Toko is no better on a few front either. She does not know Togami nor does she try to actually learn anything about him. It’s clear to anyone that she’s in love with a version of Togami she made up in her head and the games makes that pretty clear. Could honestly be a mental defense to prevent any escalation.
As said before even afterwards when he becomes more tolerable he still does not like her. The most good thing he did was to tell Syo not to kill people and that’s like the most basic thing basic thing to tell a person. He likely said it as a command. Makoto could have told Syo that and it would literally not change much. Frankly Komaru had way more of an influence to convince Syo not to kill people. If Syo was willing to kill Nagito before Komaru stepped in its clear to anyone that Syo took Togami’s words as a mere suggestion.
There’s a reason why most fans often pair Togami with Makoto or sometimes Makoto and Kyoko. Cause those two actually have a dynamic and bounces off each other.
Realistically if those two did get together it would end in a very messy and public divorce that would likely leave Toko in a pretty bad space.
there are only 2 situations in which I can picture Byakuya willingly getting together with Toko:
1. Byakuya believes he has some sort of obligation to date Toko because she saved his ass in UDG (very unlikely)
2. Byakuya believes he has some sort of obligation to continue the Togami bloodline and thus takes the only willing woman (slightly more likely but still just Not Happening)
honestly though I think that if by some bizarre "miracle" Byakuya starts showing romantic interest in Toko, Syo would fucking kill him. I think that Byakuya being completely unavailable and distant is part of the draw for Toko and Syo, they want someone they can dump their gross fantasies on without the fear that he'll actually touch them. (side note: for as horny as Toko and Syo are I think if you actually got them into the bedroom they'd get stressed and duck out. they have shit to work through when it comes to sexuality)
You're 100% right about Syo killing Byakuya for betraying Toko. the only reason she doesn't is because she's smart and she knows she would get caught. if Byakuya dies she's the first suspect. and getting caught for murder, whether it's in the killing game or after, would put Toko in trouble and that's not what Syo wants as a protector.
Toko's obsession with Byakuya is complex and comes from a lot of places but genuine love is not one of them. this is gonna make her sound terrible but I think it's true that she views him as an object. she's playing dolls with herself and Byakuya.
I have a lot to say abt Toko's obsession with Byakuya and Toko's views on sexuality but it's late for me so I'll get back to you tomorrow.
I think that toga/fuka is interesting to explore as a terrible abusive relationship but it's so hard to find content that really understands them.

for FAVORITE, currently, it's based upon characters I'm focused upon in Tuesday! right now I'm pretty lost in the Tuesfries characters, so that's characters like Esperanza, Ruse, Maiceo, Giana, etc! I really love drawing Esperanza, her color palette is just heaven to me and I adore her immensely :3 She also has a lot of forms which keeps me running circles about her Lore and gives me lots of interesting shapes to draw!

I love drawing faun Ruse too for similar reasons, its all character love- Ruse's story is one of my favorite little nuggets I've made, i'd like to thank Midveil for enabling some of my favorite tropes so I could go really crazy with her. Her backstory is one I would REALLY love to make into a sketchbook comic. I feel like it would take very well to that! And I know it can be really confusing to explain :'D I'm under the assumption no one knows what's going with Ruse because I feel like it's a lot to infodump and there's a lot of forms to keep track of. a long-form comic might make it easier to explain! She's one of my favorite characters I have, overall, so of course she's one of my favorites to draw in Tuesday! Even if she doesn't live there anymore.....

for HARDEST......okay. a lot of them. Tuesday has some of my favorite design notes - but also some of the hardest for me to draw! Like horns, for example- i LOVE horns. Which is why so many characters have them!! but keeping track of horns can be hard for me! but i'm practicing!! i'm learning!!!!
but that means the hardest character popped into my mind super fast.....it's Paola 😔 the agony. i love her so fucking much.....honestly, her dads are really hard for me to draw too. Simon and Van are some of my favorite OCs, and some of my favorite designs, but SO MANY sketches of them have been started, and then set down.
but cmon. they're so beautiful!! i really love these guys!! I'M the one who needs to get better. I don't know what it is with these guys....

I need MORE of them- Tuesday feels very undercasted to me right now, I am still in the process of fleshing out the world- i'm such a person who loves worlds with tons of side characters, i am very much a large world writer. as you know and understand :3c oooo if youre my friend ooo you wanna design trade a faun so bad- /nf

these are still characters with a lot of details (Tuesday characters tend to be really detail-heavy) but i generally don't spend a long time fussing over the quality of the character's image. you may notice their horns are more uniform or simpler shapes than Paola or even Esperanza/Ruse, which i DO have a lot of trouble with keeping those antlers consistent, but you see, favorite privilege..... /lh
this was very interesting to think about!! i hope you don't mind multiple characters per question, and I know i could go even deeper and grab more examples and talk about each individual character and how I feel about drawing them. King Josephine jumped out as someone a bit trickier to draw, and Chyenne is pretty easy-

Hi, not sure if you have before but I'd like to ask whether you could post an in depth character/personality analysis of Takara? Because while you do a very good job describing, I'd like to understand things more from her perspective. Like, why does she act the way she does, and why does she call herself a clown.
This is an AWESOME question! Let's crack my knuckles into early arthritis and get started:
All cards on the table: this character is just me but with more extremes. I am still attempting at least the veneer of it being a reader analog-- I try very hard for her to be relatable and think along the lines of "if I was not *me*, would I be getting something out of this?"-- but it's still an analysis and critique of how I imagine myself, especially in romantic, emotional, and social situations.
I've been especially focusing on the idea of her being a "performer", and that is because, as I am an autistic person that tries to introspect a lot and also communicates for a living at this point in my life, a lot of social life is really a performance. Takara is performing both in the literal sense and in that she is constantly trying to step back and look at the big picture, see where she fits on the stage and in what shape. She is painfully aware of her limitations-- that she's a bad liar, a hypocrite, and above all a big fucking wuss-- and so the roles she takes on tend to be more likely to put her in less confrontational situations. She's comfortable, in the end, being a singer because the context is that it's a very small venue and she feels safe. Outside of that context, she is doe-eyed, scared, and a follower. She moves with the breeze and wonders how on earth she got carried away.
The comparison to a clown is a specific aspect of this whole "performer" thing. You may have heard of Jester's Privilege, which is the concept that the court jester can say whatever he wants because it is of no consequence. No body listens to you, boo hoo, but also...if nobody listens to you, you have no real responsibility. This is why Takara did not want to name herself. She has a lot of trouble claiming responsibility. She, however, also knows it's impossible to be so small and quiet you stop existing. So if you HAVE to exist and be known, to be a clown is a pretty good alternative. You can be silly, you can talk, you can sing...and no one will take you seriously. In a world so foreign and dangerous...that's a very safe place to be.
As a side note, I also call Tobi a clown and jester for very similar reasons, even if the exact nature and permanency of the persona in his personality differs. They both perform; Tobi's role is more specified and changes less from situation to situation, whereas Takara has more flexibility as she attempts to be sincere through masking and coping with her mental illness and bizarre circumstance. Tobi is sincere only in the outcomes he intends from his words and actions as the Akatsuki's royal clown.
She is, ultimately, my analysis on my own desire to be safe and liked while also being scrupulously kind. I am drawing from fantasies I've had off and on since I was a teen about being a rescued innocent finally given the adoration that will heal me...and thinking about it more critically. I think that's the best summary of where I'm coming from here when I write. I'm trying to draw from the idea of an adored and cherished self insert/reader insert and seeing how it would most likely play out. I guess that's another aspect of her being a performer, too: I want her to wear multiple faces as both her own character and a subversion of the sort of fanfics that I've spent so much time reading.
