I remmebered that my favourite tropes are sick character tropes and I am now DROWINGING in headcannons and possibly also spent three hours last night thumbnailing an Adventure Time comic... the brainrot is real

people will really write rose as a badass girlboss as if her main character trait isn’t hubris. as if her main story arc wasn’t her fucking things over for everyone time and time again by assuming she was better and wiser. oh you think rose is a girlboss? rose who intentionally allowed herself to be corrupted by morally ambiguous terrors because she thought it might give her a slight mental advantage on the game? rose who willingly went along with the manipulation of a groomer because she thought his idea of putting a tumor into the universe was smart? What if they weren’t, though? What if their life twisted them to the point that they can only love through violence?

What if the narrative doomed them to ever play their role, a role that has already been chosen by forces higher than them?

What if the sweet, gentle character didn’t love them ‘despite their flaws’, or even at all?

Why should they? Especially if it’s a case of kidnapping. ESPECIALLY if they hurt them. Or their friends. Or take away their agency.

What if that strange contradiction of love and hatred in their heart tore them apart and gave them their justified end?

What if they CAN’T be fixed?

What if they don’t WANT to be fixed?

What if we stopped glamorizing abusive relationships and started actually exploring them?

Ooooh since you're doing dandadan now, can I request general headcanons for sick okarun and momo? Like who'd get sick more often, how badly would it affect them, symptoms, caretaking etc? Whether or not it's related to your current wip :)))

YES!!! absolutely anon i am happy to start talking about them...!!!!! You gave me a lot to work with and I tried to include everything you mentioned but if you ever want anything more specific from these feel free to come back !!!! 👽👽💖💖

PS I'm fighting demons on whether to call him Okarun or Ken but he's Okarun for this post since that's what you've called him lol

- Okarun is definitely sick more often but only as a result of his body not being able to handle his Yokai form. Like random high fevers, awful body aches, nausea, tinnitus, nosebleeds (i think even worse things like coughing up blood or absent seizures from over using it)...he's kind of a baby about it, he has a very low pain tolerance and fevers are so overwhelming for him with all of his senses being muddled 😭😭

- Momo isn't necessarily sick often but her similarly her newfound powers give her the gift of frequent headaches and migraines 👍 they don't hold her back most of the time, she just pops a ton of pain killers and moves on (after complaining), but bad with migraines she's huddled up in her dark room and just praying it goes away 😭😭😭

- Momo's fevers don't get as high and aren't as frequent as Okarun's, but the fever really messes with her abilities. She can't use it properly with Any higher temperature, but she gets really weird visual and auditory hallucinations too and she has a hard time distinguishing them from reality. This Deeply concerns Okarun any time he notices and he'll usually pick up on her hallucinations before he realizes she has a fever 😭 she hears him ask her something when he didn't even speak and he's on high alert all of a sudden like, miss Ayase I didn't say anything are you okay what's wrong?????

- Okarun does a good job taking care of Momo if she's sick but he's a tiny bit overbearing (to the point where she might snap and accidently scare him off...she Wants to be taken care of she's just very easily embarrassed) and also Horribly worried. Especially if she's acting weird or quiet he Might cry and she has to comfort him and he feels guilty about it. Vicious cycle lol

- Momo is similarly the overthinker of all time, she's watching all of his movements and focusing on everything he says and does when he's sick because he won't verbalize how he's feeling to avoid worrying her. Dummy. So she tries to figure it all out herself. She takes good care of him though and tries to make sure he's not too overwhelmed 🥺🥺

I love all the representation in The Dragon Prince, don't get me wrong. But as a physically disabled person, I would love to see more physically disabled characters. The lists of queer, POC, and mentally disabled (especially autistic) characters (confirmed or otherwise) seem endless, but the only physically disabled characters I can think of are Amaya (deaf), Claudia (amputee), Ava (amputee), Kazi (glasses), Terry (also glasses, though not seen as much), Sol Regem (blind), and Villads (blind).

And half of those characters are antagonists. It doesn't matter how sweet and kind and good-hearted Terry is, he's working with Claudia. And that makes him an antagonist.

I would really love for Runaan to lose his arm for this reason, especially if he's getting a redemption arc. I dunno, this show could do with more physical disability rep.

i just want to mention this but there is no right or wrong when it comes to characterisation, because you can write a fictional character how you want. (even with a canon personality, you can always add that they're "oc" or how you like to write them) don't let anyone tell you to write xyz a certain way or even how to format your stuff. if you like the small font that's okay, people actually shaming writers for using a small font are embarrassing.

In anticipation of the questions to come, we would like to go ahead and clarify the prompt ‘Pulling a Ferris Bueller’ for anyone who may not understand the reference. 

Pulling a Ferris Bueller is a pop culture reference born from the 1986 American teen comedy, Ferris Bueller's Day off.’ In the film, the titular character, Ferris Bueller, not for the first time, decides he wants to skip school. It’s a nice day and he’d like to go to Chicago with his best friend and girlfriend. He devises a complicated plan that starts with faking sick, after which he goes to great lengths to avoid being caught. These lengths include (but aren’t limited to) telling plenty of lies, creating an elaborate setup to make it appear he’s never left his bed, borrowing an expensive car and later rolling the odometer back, and hacking school records. This all becomes especially humorous as the school’s dean becomes increasingly desperate to prove that Ferris is continually absent despite the perfect attendance that had been recorded.  While out and about the trio hit several comical snags and engaged in a great deal of banter. During the film, Ferris often breaks the fourth wall to explain his choices and thought processes.

Basically, the saying, 'Pulling a Ferris Bueller' usually means faking sick to skip school/work for no reason other than to have a good time. As a trope, it tends to lean more heavily into the movie's plot and themes. You can use Either! ... or Neither!

Here is a list of different ways a character could leave a show without dying. With the right script they could all pack an emotional gut punch without rupturing someones spleen.

Sickfic prompts? Listing out my first fave? I genuinely don’t know how to tumblr so here we go…

A and B are out in the ice cold wildness on some mission

- B falls into a frozen lake (maybe they’re on it despite A’s warnings but they’re trying to get something that will help someone)

- A pulls B out, B is barely conscious but sputters out water

- B tries to stand but their legs aren’t working and they crumple back down to the ice

- A has to carry a soaking wet and hypothermic B through the start of a snowstorm. B fights to stay conscious and A is terrified by the ragged weak breath against their neck. They’ve never felt anything so cold

- finding shelter in whatever is nearest���maybe an abandoned cabin or for maximum pain, a cave or overgrowth

- A frantically trying to warm a delirious B, who is resisting anything warm because OMG IT IS SO PAINFUL (and B’s subsequent struggle between lucid moments of wanting to be held by A, feeling freezing, but feeling burned by A’s gentle touch)

- A grows more terrified as B slips in and out of consciousness. B is the one with medical training, A doesn’t even know if they’re doing things right!

- after much detailed angst and hurt/comfort, A finally thinks B’s hypothermia is passing and they’re out of the woods

- but they’re not because A finally lets themselves drift off to sleep, but the next time A wakes up, B is burning with fever and a terrible, rattling cough. They’re limp and pathetic but coherent now which in some ways makes A feel worse than when they did when they were unconscious because B is aware of their situation now and in so much pain, so scared and vulnerable and SMALL (which is totally out of character for B) and A really doesn’t know if/when help is coming

thinking about rafe & coryo & anakin & astarion and how imo their inherrent appeal (if you pick up on any) is supposed to be in the fact that something is extremely wrong with them (or they aren’t meant to have any appeal at all). bc i don’t understand the stans who are so selective with reading and hearing they try to argue otherwise like were you so blinded you ignored the glaringly & obviously bad things about them??????? rafe & coryo & anakin later especially?????????
