your first kiss with pope was straight out of a fairy tale book. he'd taken to you the carnival, bought you a prize, and after that even offered to drive you back right on time. he's so cute. that's all you could think of. he was the prince you'd been waiting for.

you still remembered how pope's fingers drummed on the wheel, a cheeky smile on his face as he tried to sneak a look at you. you pretended that you weren't watching him, though you knew you were radiant with happiness. love was in the air, young love, sweet love.

he was everything that you'd ever wanted—a nice boy, a boy you could bring home, and for once a crush didn't mean pain. the way home had been peaceful, and you watched the stars glow under the dark, tapping on the window in a repetitive manner. noticing your restless, pope turned on the radio, and you shot him a grateful smile.

he was so careful with his driving, practically watching everything he could. you were tired of hiding your grin when you noticed how slow he was going, and oh, how nervous Pope seemed, as if this mattered more than anything.

it was only when he parked the car near your driveway that you got to look at him properly. where you got to admire the way his eyelashes kissed his cheek every time he blinked, or his full lips, or the way he was so lean and could probably fit perfectly in your arms. you shook yourself from those thoughts and instead focused on what was important. tonight. tonight was important.

"uh, thank you for tonight. i really liked it," you whispered, leaning closer to him, before your eyes flickered down to his lips, "i really like you." pope smiled, running a hand through his hair, letting out a chuckle. he was so close you could already imagine yourself kissing his lips.

"me too." pope exhaled, before quickly retreating nervously, "shit, i mean, i mean i like you, not commenting about how much i like myself or whatever–"

you let out a laugh before you clasped your hand around his mouth, "shh! no need to get nervous. don't ruin it." then you watched his kind eyes crinkle at the corners. it was only when you saw the way he relaxed when you took your hands off his mouth.

suddenly you felt out of place, blushing profusely as you hid your face in your hands. that was so rude of you! "wait, i didn't mean to cover your mouth, it was out of place for me to do that–"

here he grinned, taking his hands in yours. "nah, i liked it."

you blushed even more, pursing your lips to stop yourself rom beaming right at him. you were watching "you're cute," you whispered, slowly moving closer to him. the car windows were all fogged up, but you saw the way your house lights were off. tentatively, pope took a shakey breath as if torn.

gently though, his hand cupped your face, earnest eyes staring into yours. you bit your lip, watching his eyes flicker down. there was barely a sliver of space between the two of you.

"can i kiss you?"

"yes," you breathed out.

yes, yes, yes, you wanted to scream inside. almost awkwardly, his lips were on yours. he was so warm, his lips chaste on yours at first, only to become softer. his head was tilted forward, eyes half-lidded as you leaned into him even more. you could feel your breath catch. this was everything you wanted. he tasted like the caramel apples the two of you had shared earlier.

it was only after it was over, you smiled shyly, pursing your lips. he has some of your lipstick on his lips, a dazed smile on his face. it was then that pope reached out and fixed a lock of hair away from your face. you let yourself lean into his touch, but then gently started to get ready to leave. you watched him search your face for something, almost as if he was anxious the kiss meant nothing.

"good night, heyward," you murmured, letting a small giggle, "i'll see you around."

then you blew him a kiss, and before you left the car pulled him closer for another kiss. you hold his fingers close to your chest, before letting out a soft breath. you stared at him, biting your lip nervously.

"i really like you. don't screw this up," you whispered, feeling vulnerable as you play with the beads of your necklace.

but it almost all disappeared when pope leant in for one more kiss, softer this time, full of promise. “i wouldn’t dream of it.”

look. a subgenre going in a direction you don't like for a while doesn't make it "dead". reboots, sequels, prequels, and stuff like that are the trend in all sorts of media, not just magical girl anime.

also, there are all sorts of cool magical girl works that aren't anime, and i don't just mean manga and light novels. there's live-action stuff, VNs, webcomics, written works, cartoons from countries other than japan...

and guess what? i'm not against dark magical girl stuff by any means. madoka magica was what got me into magical girl stuff in the first place! i love all sorts of magical girl media, both light and dark, though i don't claim to be an expert by any means. there's still so much stuff i haven't watched/read/played...

anyway, the anime listed here include Artiswitch, Kuromajo-san ga Tooru, Little Witch Academia, Fantasista Doll, Magia Wars, SHY, Hina Logi: From Luck and Logic, Matoi the Sacred Slayer, I've Had Enough of Being a Magical Girl, Urahara, Flip Flappers, Six Hearts Princess, Magical Girl Kurumi, The Demon Girl Next Door, and Mewkledreamy. The upcoming ones are Magical Girl Aiko, Princess Session Orchestra, Acro Trip, Magilumiere, The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to be Enemies, and an unnamed magical girl anime from Studio Pierrot

yanno, i wasn't sure why i got immediately obsessed with the takara ponies but then i remembered how I love anthros so much i was considering getting a g1 pony and somehow beheading it and sticking it on a custom made anthro body and i was like oh wait. yes this is right up my wheelhouse.

Anyways these are half based on promo photos I found online and half based on the other information and illustrations I found on this website, because apparently the colors were different than the promos. If anyone knows of a webpage where the box promo stuff is translated I'd be interested to see it; I tried to give these guys simple personalities.

The yans with a darling that just cries, and cries. And cries and cries and cries and cries and well you get the point.

simon would be super gentle and calm whenever you start crying. expect to be medicated more frequently to help the anxiety so you'd probably be sleepy a lot! theyd feel bad for you though and would do their best to keep away any triggers and would spend a lot of time holding u. expect lots of crooning and rocking u back n forth, or petting ur hair/back!

wyatt would try to cheer u up as best they can. sometimes they'd hug you and rock you, other times they'd try to distract you with your favorite things or things you just like in general. it would make them a bit anxious and they'd feel terribly guilty if they were the cause, but at the end of the day they'd want to make u feel better!

thomas would pity you and wipe your tears, click his tongue and tell you there's nothing to fuss about. if there's any particular reason he'd want to help fix it, but he'd try to help train you out of it through breathing and a positive and negative reinforcement system. so you wouldn't really be punished or anything, but he wouldn't want you to have crying fits too often! he wants u to be comfortable too! but also he'd definitely collect little vials of ur tears sometimes.

viktor would want to get to the root of the cause, find out not only why you're crying, but why you cry so easily and so much. he'd probably do some hypnosis therapy to pick ur brain about it. expect some crooning, some little kisses on your face, and gentle questioning to see what's got his lamb soooo upset. unlike thomas, viktor would encourage the crying, because it means you'll turn to him more and probably be isolated from others much easier.

emil would honestly enjoy how easy u cry cos he thinks ur even prettier when ur upset <3! his reaction to it really depends on his mood though, like sometimes you'd get held and doted on, sometimes you'd get your picture taken, sometimes you'd get cut up or hit, and sometimes he'd ignore it. just tell you to take a breath and calm down.

i think we don't talk about how gentle pope is? from the first day when you decide to come treasure hunting with pope, he notices the little things. he noticed how your hands seem to shake every single time things start to get a little dangerous, or how your doe eyes always fixated on him before you went to sleep snuggled at his side.

pope noticed how you rubbed your thumbs on his with a small smile on your face, but he especially noticed how you listened to him. your head would be turned, almost attuned to everything he was saying. it didn't matter if someone wasn't listening, you always had your head perched near, bambi eyes blinking.

your gentle voice would get drowned out in passionate outbursts with the pogue's but he valued your opinion more than anything. but what he would never forget is how he knows what's more than what you can handle. from day one you've always begged to be near pope, to go with him no matter what—and for gods sake to know if he was safe or not.

you needed to be close, to have that skin to skin contact. sometimes when things got tough in season four, all you would do was get in his lap. jj and john b would get all quiet, seeing you screw your eyes shut and try to squeeze yourself near pope. he welcomed it too, stroking your hair gently, daring to glare at anyone who looked badly at you.

the two of you were a team.

Whenever Rubee sees a broken doll, she picks it up and fixes it. Whenever she sees a broken limb, she wants to sew it back together. Maybe it’s to make up for past mistakes. She is just doing this to make herself feel better. She doesn’t know why, but it works…

Fun fact (?) Rubee made mini dolls for everyone in the family, but she never had a chance to give it away.
