for anyone that knows me, i’m like, the biggest big hero 6 fan and you guys don’t understand how obsessed i am with its little universe and how it’s portrayed in the baymax series !!! like the photos up on the walls of the lucky cat cafe are the exact same as they were in the movie??? the abandoned warehouse where everything began??? don’t even get me started on baymax with his patients or cass with her customers. this show felt like a warm welcome back home and it is literally everything to me 🥹🥹🥹

guys don’t get me wrong, as a filipino, that scene in no way home with ned’s lola and her speaking in tagalog was like the highlight of my movie watching career (fun fact: my siblings and i were the only people to laugh through the whole scene bc we were the only filipinos watching on opening night that people had to shush us until they started laughing during the english translation) but hear me out,,,

it would have been comedy gold if, while she was lecturing ned on liking her house to be clean as ned and the peters make it dirty, that lola held a walis tingting to protect herself from the peters after throwing a book at them, and smacking ned’s leg with it before pointing to places with it in the process of her lecturing. for context, this (photo below) is a walis tingting, and it’s basically a broom made of thin sticks stuck together by a rubber band.

Do you have any tips on how to write for Lance Mcclain?

I am a HUGE Lance simp and the fact that I literally CANNOT write him kills me 😭

not y'all actually coming to me for advice i suck at that 😭 !! i'm glad my keith essay helped though :) but sigh, you are talented !! you just need to own your skills. however, i am off hiatus and i do love y'all and the excuse to talk about my blue boy is awaiting me so here we goooo

from personal experience, lance is a very easy character to write for considering the lack of development they gave him netflix i hate you make it up to me by renewing jatp for season two. when introducing him to new people, i actually take in references from my other blue bi disaster. sokka is on another level of characterization, but their core values are the same. another jeremy shada (lance's voice actor) character you can reference is reggie peters from netflix's julie and the phantoms. they're the same person (literally) in different universes !

like sokka, they're more ready to fight in a war to protect those they love, but often find themselves doubting their skills and letting people down. there's an emphasis on their family dynamic as well, wanting to make sure they're okay first and foremost. though, lance shares his concern more often than not, considering how important family is to him. keep all this in mind when writing about him. he cares for younglings, always is ready for anything to come his way no matter how disastrous the situation is and scared he may be.

it's been mentioned one too many times that the blue paladin has come from a large family. it's also shown in their return to earth. while the reunion is sweet, lance's former development of hiding his insecurities behind a smile can be prominent here. lance has always been one to put other people before himself. so keep in mind that despite being happy for the heck of it, if one knows lance enough they'll notice the lingering thoughts in his head about anything. it's up to the person to prod, but it won't take much for him to spill.

but as much as lance has his own inner battles, he finds relief in making other people smile and laugh. there are so many occasions where he'll crack a joke or do an impression to make others or himself laugh. he's a funny guy with a really big heart, so no matter what's going on with him, he's always gonna be there.

he's also really wordy, so he'll either ramble with some story meant to be advice a family member once told him. but if his words fail him, sure he'll be disappointed, but he's definitely more than willing to make up for his silence with a self care night or a small gift. if you haven't noticed, you can take into account that his primary love languages are words of affirmation and quality time. there's also gift giving, but it's not as large as the ones previously mentioned. a song that gives off lance mcclain vibes is definitely anything 4 u by lany. you'll see why.

this man is a simp, with insecurities of his own. because he's human. but there won't ever be a time where you can't count on lance. he's the type of guy to always be there, and always be involved (even if he can get a little nosy) but also, he's expressive. don't be afraid to make him cry in fics, or witness other people crying !! he's a softie, and that's nothing to be afraid of.

and as i said previously, it's okay if you think some things will be wrong, that's just your own little spin on these characters :) and that's so beautiful of you. everything falls into trial and error, you should trust your gut and write to your heart's content. because writing these characters is for you, first and foremost before anyone else. as always, lmk what you thought and if these tips helped ! much love ! stan his voice actor jeremy shada as well !

anyway, i feel so weird and inexperienced when it come to writing reader inserts 😓😓 i am only 14 and reveling my age on an acc kinda scares me?

i’ve tried to open up multiple accounts bc i want to share my love for my fave characters with others but my overthinking, anxiousness, and fear that my work isn’t good enough always makes me take down the account 😔

i was wondering if maybe you have any tips and/or advice? for both writing and for starting up and account in general? and maaayyyybeee for how to overcome my overthinking problem?

anon hello ! sorry if i seemed to have answered this late; i needed to gather my thoughts so i could give you the best advice i could :) and wow i feel like an older sister lmao (ps, you don’t sound weird at all !)

first off, it’s okay to be scared. just know that you are in no way obligated to reveal your age ever on this app. there are dangerous people out there, and seeing as you’re fourteen; should you choose to start an account, the least you can do is add if you’re a minor or an adult in your bio or anywhere visible at the beginning of your page !

as for the overthinking, i get it. i’ve been on this account for about a year or two now, and the overthinking has never gotten any easier for me lovely. i’m sorry that the thoughts invade your mind when it’s supposed to feel safe. it’s just not fair. however, i know that finding comfort in something can help immensely ! mine happen to be my friends and music ✨ but starting an account on here has been one of the best things to ever happen to me ! i’ve met so many lovely people and writing on here has given me an opportunity to grow. you have to understand that this account is purely a piece of you ! and it’s all for you and no one else.

as for starting reader inserts, i still have no idea what the fuck i’m doing anon. reader inserts used to terrify me, but having that support is going to help you immensely ! i’m always here for you anon 💓 i think you should point out what exactly scares you and try to overcome that obstacle though. because for me, it was the fear of not being general enough to have it be a reader insert. but since then i’ve learned to grow ! other things that helped was reading fan fiction and pointing out what i liked and didn’t like about the way some incorporated the reader of that makes sense? i’m afraid i can’t be super general on this. but what i do know? if you really feel like reader inserts aren’t your thing, write with an original character ! it’s what i did before my start on here :)
