he's just a guy!!!! i love that he's just a guy!!! i also love how he's just generally incredibly done with everyone's shit the entire game, despite being really willing to understand where they're coming from- he's the funniest protagonist in my eyes. introducing a character with no talent was a great idea, imo. i also loved him in the dr3 anime (despite some mischaracterisation), seeing how insecure and emo and alone he was pre-game was very interesting. the world and his mindset leading up to his decision were something i really wanted to see post-sixth trial. his hair is unnecessarily spiky!!! his shirt is way too tight for no reason!!! he has such a massive chest that i have to headcanon him as a trans guy, i just have no choice (kamukura project gave him top surgery guys)!!! he's the shsl best boy!!! hajeem!!! all the hajime ships!!! everything!!!

i've always liked that he and Kamukura are sort of a play on the "you may think you have no power...but secretly you have all the powers" trope. Hajime did have all the powers. he also lost all his humanity and self and his alter (or whatever you'd call Kamukura) did some profoundly uncool things. no immediate stepping up with Honor and Grace here, the guy with All The Powers became a war criminal. it's why i'm confused when people call Kamukura a Mary Sue or whatever: he's a reversal of the idea entirely

also i think hajime grumbles about people leaving the lights on all day and turns them off himself.

Previously "Danganronpabestgirls," since the end of that tournament (huge congratulations to Chihiro Fujisaki, by the way!) I've decided to make a tournament for the boys next to determine the favorite of Danganronpa's male characters!

Rules/disclaimers(?) before I start:

This bracket will only include characters from the main games. Please please please do not ask me “Where’s [character from x novel]?” or “You forgot [obscure side character]?” I don’t know every single character ever mentioned in the franchise and it would take forever to add every single person, so I’m only including characters from the main games.

Similarly, please don’t ask me about gender discourse. I've set up three polls regarding the placements of Chihiro Fujisaki, the SHSL Impostor, and K1-B0 as requested. Aside from these three qualifier rounds, please don't bother me about gender discourse as I'm aware that different people have different interpretations of a character's gender.

The polls will last for one week before I reblog with the results. You can submit propaganda via an ask and I’ll tag it with the #propaganda tag. Try not to be too mean to each other in the notes while or after the polls are running <3

The “reasons” behind voting always feel like a source of conflict to me so I want to make something clear: this tournament is about which character is your favorite! It can be about personality, general aesthetic, how important they are to the plot— anything! This is no “which character is OBJECTIVELY the best” competition! This is about having fun! It’s a popularity vote— feel free to share what you love about the characters you pick!

On a more personal note, I’m pretty busy right now with schoolwork as I get further into the year. Result announcements or posting propaganda might take awhile! Please be patient with me as I am a human being who has to do other things.

31 days of dangan: day 6- best boy

He is literally THE best of all the boys, and every male character that comes close, I and/or a good chunk of the fandom headcanons as transfem or some form of nonbinary, soooooo.....

Fuyuhiko has one of the best character arcs in the series, with even his availability for FTEs within the game is held off until over halfway through the game so that his arc can play out as it's meant to. Every DR game's got that character that starts off very standoffish and warms up to the class over the course of the game, and Fuyuhiko does it best.

Fuyuhiko is a kid who was handed everything, even when he didn't want it. He was put on a pedestal by his family and the people who loved him, and could only grow when they died because of it, which is a fucking tragedy if I've ever heard one, and also the primary motivation behind so much of sdr2's message that it hurts me

While Fuyuhiko didn't like being the SHSL Yakuza and having the power he did, he never really rejected it, either. He accepted the Yakuza title when Natsumi offered it to him, and even when he insisted Peko leave him alone, he continued to confide in her. He could never really commit to resenting them because he loved them just as much as they loved him, and it wasn't until he let himself love them that he was able to grow.

His relationship with Peko specifically has always been one of my favorites; their final heart to heart at the end of chapter 2 and the entire chapter being designed to target them specifically has always been one of the strongest emotional moments of the series.

Also, when he does complete his character arc, he becomes defined by his desire to help others! He immediately offers to help Mikan with the disease motive, becomes the guy to point out when Kazuichi is being creepy, and helps Akane come out of her own shell as well. In a sense, he's the most interconnected of the survivors because he has the most meaningful and positive interactions with the other survivors. He's just all around really awesome!

Also, he's transmasc. Why? What are you, a cop? I headcanon what I want.
