what doesn't kill you // part 3
you had your whole life planned out for you; start an agency with your best friend, scale the charts and make japan your bitch. but when a tragic accident leaves you incapacitated and out of a job, you find you just need to start fresh. you cut ties–and for two years, you've all but disappeared. until they need you again and come knocking at your door.
bakugo x retiredpro!reader
prologue ✧ previous ✧ next
"They say there's a chance you could learn to walk again." He offered, trying to be as optimistic as he could. Lord knows you didn't need another thing to feel bad about.
"How big a chance?"
He flushed, looking away.
He had caught you after you had passed out, moving to sit beside you afterward.
The nurses were beginning to bustle about. You had caught a few pitying glances already–each one only making you wish your bed would swallow you whole.
"It's been done before."
"I know you know the stats." You said with a sigh.
He sighed too, squeezing your hand. "I just... I don't want you to feel like you can't. I know you can."
"Izuku."
He winced. "One in a hundred."
You sunk a little lower beneath the sheets at that.
The silence stretched on, neither of you knowing exactly what to say after that.
"Sorry I'm late." The door quietly swung shut behind the heterochromic boy as he moved to take a seat beside you; saving both of you from the awkward tension. "I couldn't get out of the press conference."
Right. Because for the rest of them, hero work went on.
You pushed the thought to the corner of your mind, adding it to the list of things you'd think about later.
He pulled a chair over, blank eyes softening as he saw you. He leaned over to give you a quick hug. "I'm happy you're okay." He said softly.
"How'd it go? Have you guys found him?" You asked, ignoring the last comment for no reason beyond its awkward nature.
You had learned from Midoriya that you had been out for two weeks, but he hadn't any other information. Apparently, he had spent most of his time here with you.
Todoroki nodded. "Bakugo did. The day after the incident." He informed you solemnly.
Your heart clenched oddly at the name.
"He got to the fucker before the authorities could. Beat him up pretty bad. For a second it looked like Bakugo was going to be charged with assault because the villain could barely walk after, but... given the circumstances..." He looked down, shaking his head.
You flicked a piece of lint off your blanket glumly. "Suppose he's been pretty busy then." You muttered bitterly.
That was the next question you had grilled Midoriya for. Turned out, in the half a month you had been in a coma, Bakugo hadn't dropped by once.
Todoroki looked at you, blinking slowly. "Y/n, it's not like that."
You scoffed but said nothing.
"It really isn't. He was so angry. He is so angry. He didn't go home that night. He stayed up until dawn looking for the villain and didn't stop till he found the guy." He told you. "He's just processing."
You sighed, turning to look out the window. "I guess." You just wished that he could process here. With you. And maybe some better food.
"He'll visit soon."
It was like that for the next couple of days. All of your friends, acquaintances, even a bunch of people you knew only by name–all showing up to wish you a speedy recovery and look at you with their pitying gazes that made your skin crawl.
And yet through it all, Bakugo never showed up.
"Are you up for another visitor?"
You looked up, slightly surprised to see a purple haired girl standing in the doorway. Jirou, as you recalled from high school–or rather, Earphone Jack she went by now.
You shrugged, nodding sulkily. What did it matter, really?
"Thanks for coming." You spoke quietly. So unlike your usual self.
She stared at you for a minute as you stared firmly at your lap. Everyone's pity was starting to drown you alive–and you had concluded that the only way to survive it was to pretend it wasn't there.
"Hiroshi and Yutaka Kota." She finally broke the silence.
You glanced up, confused. "What?"
"The children you saved." The girl answered. "Those were their names."
You shook your head. She must've been confused. "I wasn't able to save them." You whispered, hands clenched tightly together in your lap. "I was too slow.
"You're wrong. They were a bit banged up, but thanks to you they had just enough time to escape before the building really collapsed."
That couldn't have been right. And yet you wished so dearly that it was. You felt tears welling up in your eyes again–whether because you were happy or sad you weren't quite sure.
"I'm really sorry that this happened to you." She said quietly.
But there was something off about her tone. It wasn't pitying. Didn't feel like nails on a chalkboard as most people's did so often nowadays. It was... understanding. It was actually quite nice.
"But I thought it'd be nice for you to know that it wasn't for nothing. Including those two, 326 people accredit their lives to you, Cordelia."
You looked away, feeling the tears leak down your cheeks now.
"Thank you." You whispered. "It was getting really tiring hearing people tell me how 'at least I didn't die,' or some other unrealistically optimistic bullshit."
She snorted. "That's lowkey a weird thing to say to someone."
"Tell me about it."
She looks at you, and smiles.
Why had you two not been close before? You had both gone to UA together–hell, you two had more mutuals than you could count. And yet, you had never found yourselves in the other's company; and even after you both graduated, you never saw her on the field.
"Are you going to go to the hero gala?" She asked after a beat of pause.
Right. The hero gala. In the grand scheme of things, it just seemed so trivial now. "I didn't think I was still invited." You said honestly, letting your shoulders rise and fall.
"Of course you are." She corrected. "Cordelia, if anyone can learn to walk again? It's you. And even if you can't, that doesn't change your legacy. You're amazing, dude."
You smiled softly down at your sheets. "Yeah, I guess. Maybe. I'll think about it."
"Do. It's in three days. I'll see you there, okay?"
"Wait." You called as she stood before she could make it all the way to the door. "Why did you visit me?" You asked at last.
She smiled to herself, as if thinking upon a fond memory. "You're awesome. I always see you on the news. You're revolutionizing the space. Paving the way for women. It's amazing. Honestly." She told you proudly. "You're amazing, Cordelia."
For the first time in weeks, the load in your eyes lightened slightly, and you felt your lips tug into a small smile. It didn't erase the ache in your heart or bring back feeling to your legs, but it was something.

Hi, big fan here. I love your Laia series so much and am planning on checking out your cool uncle series it looks just as adorable. But I have a question
What would Laia's reaction to meeting Ruin, Nexus, and Dark Sun would be?
I have had that thought bouncing around in my head for several days now and I NEED to know.
Also, when does Laia enter their lives in your au? Is it after or before Nexus' turn to the dark side and death?
Hi, thank you!
She would appear after Nexus and every other future villain of Sun and Moon Show. It would be like Sun fighting and surviving and finally getting his girlfriend, lol.
But their new "villain" would be the humans, fighting for their rights, maybe? Nothing big. Fazbear treats them ok, as long the animatronics make money for them, but they don't want the title "property" over their heads.
If she was there when those three were still around. Of course, she would be very protective of the family. But she would also try to understand the villains. She wouldn't try to kill until it was really the last resort.
Dark Sun: until now he is a mystery to her but doesn't trust him.
Ruin:...throws 5000 slippers at him.
Nexus: this is going to be a long one, and my goal is a happy end. I try to keep it short.
Laia would be confused as to why Nexus became like that and would do what she is good at, watch movies, and critique them. She did that for years in the shop in her free time. So she watches the videos to see what went wrong. Having a new perspective on the situation.
She would see that the family isn't fully innocent. Their relationship with Nexus was unhealthy from the beginning and became worse with time and the death of Solar was the breaking point.
They did treat him like a nice version of Moon, not a completely different individual. I know it was unintended because of the same face, voice, and name. They should have seen what they were doing, giving him time, helping him find his own personality, altering his appearance, and giving him a new name if he wished. Nexus was talking about his issues, and they should have listened but they were dismissive. Grief can do a lot of damage.
But also Nexus should have just left, he had the knowledge and the resources. He could have just left this toxic relationship, it wasn't healthy to stay because the others didn't change their ways of how they treated him. If he had left they would have gotten a breather and kept the contact minimal until they figure themselves out.
And she would be super mad at Monty because they could have brought back old Moon any time.
Nexus became so resentful he didn't know what to do with those feelings, he didn't know why it became like that because he had new excuses every time they met, why he became evil. He chooses to use a power to feel strong and be in control but is killing him slowly.
This would remind her of one of her previous owners. Who lost control of the business and started drinking and doing other substances, which were harming them. In the end, they lost all.
She would find a way to be with Nexus alone, maybe with the help of Solar or Monty, because she knows he can't be in a room with any of his ex-friends and family without fighting. She would be scared but she knew the chance of being killed by Nexus would be minimal because every chance he got to kill, he would hesitate and keep talking and talking.
So she does that, talk. She would be someone new to talk to, someone who didn't have a past with him or Moon. Also, she understands him at some points, she wasn't her own person for a long time from day one, and she didn't have control until someone helped her.
He would threaten to kill her and her response would be: "And I could kick you in the bolts, yet here we are."
Or he would accuse her of trying to play the therapist. Her response: I know Jack sh*t about therapy. Do you want to talk or not?
If he stayed, she would say she saw how his ex-family and friends have been treating him, that it wasn't healthy from the beginning. And can't believe how fast they gave up on him, their own brother! Even Killcode who actually killed people and made their lives hell was forgiven and left alone.
She would ask him what he would have done on the first day he was "born", what person he would have liked to be, and what his life could have looked like, if he wasn't treated as the "new, nice Moon".
Maybe he would tell her. maybe not. But if he does, she would ask him, what is stopping him from living that life right now? He wants control? Go leave, start somewhere fresh, a new dimension, and go No-contact with everyone. She would tell everyone to go No-contact as well.
Yes, he left but he keeps coming back, harassing and threatening his ex-friends and family, which is not truly leaving, it's not being in control. He lets the resentment that was created by that toxic relationship control him and be bound to them and even if he kills them all, he wouldn't get that control back. Their death would not be him leaving them but them leaving him and he would never be able to change that, carry this for the rest of his life.
And those powers don't make anything better, they just make him feel like he is in control but he actually isn't. It's slowly killing him like a drug and not giving him what he wants.
He might say, that he doesn't care what happens to him. She would call him out, if he truly doesn't care about himself then he would still play the role of the "new, nice Moon" and not fight. Do what you couldn't back then, leave!
He might say, you can't tell me what to do. Laia would say, she doesn't, she just is giving advice to a person who is hurting. He can take it or not, it's his choice. But the next time she sees him and starts his crap again, she would fight him. And don't think the family would go unpunished. She would not go on eggshells and have a serious word with them and make sure they'll make up for him one day.
Now here it would be Nexus' choice of what to do.
I don't write fanfiction only scripts, lol. Usually, I would think and write on my stories for weeks until it's fleshed out and make sense. But this is just an idea of how it could go with Nexus. I hope it wasn't too much.

Initial Thoughts on Chenford in 6x07
All right... I'm feeling... a lot at the moment, so just sharing my initial reactions before seeing anyone else's. I'm sure my feelings will evolve. Also this turned into a GD essay and I'm sorry.
The Good
Grey acknowledging that Lucy was going through a lot ABOVE & BEYOND the break up. I just wish he'd mentioned the shooting, too. Lucy deserves to be more than her relationship with Tim and I need to actually see that in the future.
Lucy laying out 2 key things in her conversation with Grey - how easily Tim walked away and that he had no right to make that decision for her
Prior to the last scene (see The Ugly below), I thought Tim's interactions with the therapist were reasonably well done; if only therapy was that easy in real life lol
"You've always got a home with me" - I loved this final scene between Lucy and Tamara. I don't really have feelings either way about Tamara at this point, and this still hit me right in the heart.
Smitty's poll made me laugh, but also another solid indicator that these writers / producers do in fact really enjoy laughing at the expense of the fandom and shippers (which, whatever, I don't care that they do, I'd prob do the same; but it does irk me when people act like these writers should be worshipped because of all the things they "give" us)
The Tim
"I'm not depressed. I broke up with her."
"I was her TO." Not her friend, cuz god knows Tim has yet to deal with the fact that he started banging his former Rookie I suppose.
I dunno whether to put this in The Good or The Bad at this point; it depends on where they take it, so instead Tim gets a section all about why he's a dick.
To be clear, I do not like that Tim is a dick. But I actually do kind of like that it is very clear TO THE AUDIENCE that Tim is being kind of a dick. Do I still think people will bend over backwards to defend him? Of course they will.
From my perspective, I love Tim, I understand that he thinks he's doing the right thing, and has lots and lots of trauma. I've never seen Tim as a character that magically healed at some point between Seasons 1 & 5 (please see his storyline with his dad, his ongoing issues with UC work and unwillingness to confront or deal with them, his feelings about therapy historically, his inability to dump Ashley, etc. etc.). He's never been perfect and he doesn't need to be.
All of those things are true. None of those things give him a free pass to be kind of a dick. He still has to take accountability for how he treated Lucy (which, to be clear, was like sh*t).
The Bad
Lucy being petty AF with the invites to Tamara's dinner - let her be ANGRY, but give me villain Lucy over this dumb sh*t.
Lucy having no one other than Grey to talk to.
Others acting like Lucy is actually kind of pathetic (why do these writers love sh*tting on her so much? girl could not be down and kicked any harder at this point) -- Celina / Nolan and the double dumping crap, Lucy thinking Grey paid actors and him telling her she was out of her damn mind
The last interaction between Lucy and Tim. I am so angry for her. I needed to see that from her, but instead it felt kind of like her being dumped / a kicked puppy all over again. We got it, thanks. What's next? Lucy being incredibly happy with the hottest man on earth? I'm here for it tbh. Lucy plotting Tim's murder? Also here for it at this point. LOL.
The Ugly
I could not hate the implication of that final scene with Tim and the therapist and the door shutting more. There was ZERO reason they couldn't have had him show up during the day, and it actually disgusts me that they are pushing this line again, but especially with Tim. I am literally NEVER this dramatic, but in this case I really hope they did that to just get a reaction, because if anything were to actually happen between Tim and the therapist, I'd be 100% done with this ship and show as would a whole lot of the audience (I think). If I kept watching, it would only be to see Lucy be absurdly happy without Tim.
Well, what'd I miss? What did y'all think?
#chenford#the rookie#the rookie spoilers#see lana ramble#no one tell the writers that women can have storylines that are not about BABIES

Simple AUs
Or AUs I have idea of, but will never work on. Feel free to use them if you wish to!
1. Villain!Olivia AU or what happens when nerd's idol dies.
Concept is rather simple: after Ellegaard's death Olivia looses it and uses 100% of her brain power to build a "perfect world" where no one will die ever again. Expect for those who won't elaborate of course..
During the WitherStorm she gets into tracker bim for too long and gets withersickennes. Of course she won't tell anyone to not cause any panic. They already have sick Petra, no one should be paying attention to her.
Jesse decides to go and look for Magnus, but why? They need someone smart, someone intelligent, not a walking craze creeper man! Argh, Jesse always took Axel's said.
No- no, no, nonononono- Jesse can't take Ellegaard armor! She finally found someone who understands her passion for redstone, she can't loose her!
What.. what do you mean they lied? What- N-no.. sh-.. no. S-shE coulDn't! SHe diDN't LIE! THAT'S CAN'T BE-
The storm defeated, but her sickness didn't fade away. Ah, might as well make some upgrades for her arm..
Now, now Jesse, don't be so scared- let's work together! Trust me, this.. machine won't let anyone get hurt anymore!
Well, it could've gone better. But, ah, at least now no one can get in my way.
Notes: Olivia got her hand replaced with mechanisms, she got Jesse killed, she uses the same concept as "PAMA" — chiping people to use them.
2. Sky city death AU.
Concept: Instead of landing in the lake, like Jesse normally should, they are too slow to react properly and won't make it in time.
Lukas saw it with his own eyes. He saw Jesse landing to the ground. He saw their inventory laying around like it was a pile of trash.
Even with broken arm Lukas manages to get himself and the Founder back to Sky City. Petra and Ivor are happy until they get the news.
It can't be, right? It's Jesse. They always make it out! Or maybe not this time..
Blaze Rods got arrested and putted in jail until the group will find a way to their home. Lukas won't leave them here. He'll come back and take them to the court back in BeaconTown. He'll do anything to get them pay.
Now the problem is: how will they get back? Without Jesse it's gonna be hard for sure..
Petra and Ivor can't get everyone in the mansion trust them enough, so they make decisions. Lukas almost died from White Pumpkin. They barely made it out alive from the Mansion.
No one made alive from the Mansion expect for them. Cassie Rose got the flint, so now they can only follow her through the portal.
Who can keep Petra sane? She's too irritated and Lukas is no better: he saw his friend's death for fuck sakes! Ivor already saw such tension between Order members.. Old Order members.
They are no match to PAMA. Ivor physically can't do everything alone what Jesse did. Is it the end?
Notes: Lukas arm became useless right after they left Sky City, everyone from the Mansion Episode died expect for the group and Cassie Rose, Cassie Rose managed to escape before main group.
3. Long live the king AU.
Concept: Aiden and Jesse swap places, but keep their original characters. It's hard, but everyone tries their best.
Aiden is noisy and bit of a dumbass.. but they love him, though it's hard sometimes. He doesn't know any limits without them, so it's like controlling an angry pug.
They never understood why he was so rude to Jesse. They were nothing but kind and patient! They even kept Maya and Gill in place. Aiden still didn't like them somewhy.
Okay, this time he got too far. How could he put other people in danger? How could he hurt poor pig? They need to talk and now! Winning ain't worth it!
He promised to apologize. Okay, at least they knew he kept his promises.
Oh, uh, since when Petra and him are friends? Okay, nevermind, she needs help - they will help. Still though last time they checked Petra wasn't a big fan of Aiden's behavior..
What is thing thing?! How are they supposed to defeat it? What are they gonna do? What- wait, Aiden is a good leader actually when it's comes to stress situations.
Okay, maybe they can handle it. If only he could stop throwing those dirty looks at Jesse everytime they do anything..
Notes: Olivia and Axel tries their best to deal with Aiden's behavior, though it can be hard sometimes.. Aiden saved Jesse from tracker bin since they were the closest to him instead of Petra or Gabriel, we will learn through the story how angry gremlin can actually be a good character without erasing his gremlin side.
That's my Top3 for today, guys! Feel free to ask anything you want or use the ideas.

oh god the ending of the book killed me!!!! i feel so terrible for amma. like yes she did kill three girls and needs to be prevented from hurting anyone else, but at the end of the day she's also a girl who wanted to be loved so badly and was never loved the right way (weaned on poison, as camille says). and in the juvy she's at in the book it seems like she's fairly isolated. she deserves compassion and care and the way she sobs and howls while camille takes care of her after amma wakes her up in the middle of the night absolutely destroys me (the "we're not going to do it like she does anymore" scene). and camille's ending. god. i'm glad she has curry and eileen but ouh. poor girl. the "i have returned to my childhood, the scene of the crime"... i need to keep her safe forever.
i really do wish the show had had more time to go into the bits of adora's past that we do get in the book, because seeing her as both an abuse/MBP victim and then a perpetrator adds so much extra depth to her character. and it makes you wonder. did joya start this? or did joya's mother make her sick, too? did her mother's mother do the same? how far back does the hurt go?
omg. childless adora if amma had died/been killed really is something to ponder. she did say in the book that she tried getting close to natalie and ann because they reminded her of camille... but she wouldn't have access to someone else's kids the same way she did with camille/marian/amma. part of me wonders if she'd have ever reached out to camille if amma died? (wondering bc of adora's whole "i've waited so long for this. for you to need me." bit?) like if she had (accidentally) killed amma pre canon, and then while newly childless had swooped in and visited camille in the hospital for SH when she was admitted... that's like... prime grounds for her to convince camille to come right back home, your old mother is so lonely, you shouldn't be in chicago by yourself, let me take care of you through this. total fly in a honey trap type thing. and the cycle could repeat. god
at no point towards the very ending did i think things would get better for amma and yet i was very upset when i read the ending! :( for a few seconds i could almost believe that camille & amma would somehow change and live together like some sort of merricat & constance (from we have always lived in the castle). but i think the book just couldn't close in any other form which is just sad for them.
i think that if adora had succeeded in poisoning amma she wouldn't have risked *poisoning* other kids...i think partly the reason why she got away with it for that long is because it is the last thing you'd expect from a mother. naivety and faith in, say, humanity's goodness or whatever shielded her only because she is *blood* related to amma, but as a stranger to those girls i think eventually the mystery would be solved (i would hope?). somewhat unrelated but an aspect i enjoy of sharp objects is how much a modern grotesque fairy tale it is but didn't use a stepmother as the villain archetype + i think the casting was actually so great in the show and it makes me wonder who could have played joya (+flashbacks of joya & child adora... especially an older adora i ask for just one thing)
if i remember well, in the book camille mentions in little words that her grandparents died soon after her birth at once. which i always found odd & probably related to adora anyhow. which makes me wonder if it was out of a need to keep camille & her sister to herself or, less likely, hoping to protect them from joya?
i dig a tiny bit more adora &/amma than camille & adora but their relationship is almost as equally fascinating to me...when adora bathed camille i might have almost died

A Response to the Lestat Simps (Interview With The Vampire) - Said By Ty
Y’all Lestans need to STAY MAD! 😂🤣 Once again, I agree with everything Ty said. These nuggets in particular are absolute gold.
So let's address the books. First, stop--IDGAF about what's in the books, it doesn't matter, stop bringing them up, it's redundant. From what I've seen, a lot of the Lestat sympathizers seem to think that the books should be some sort of prerequisite or mandatory reading in order to consume the show . That's stupid. I haven't read the books, but I'm pretty sure that Claudia wasn't 14 in the books! I'm definitely sure that Louis wasn't BLACK in the books! And I'm D@MN SURE that Lestat didn't drop Louis from 100+ feet in the air in the books! So if those things aren't even in the books, what sense does it make to constantly bring up the books, when we're talking about the actions in the show?! (1:58 - 2:38)
And I’ve seen the same Lestans throwing SO MUCH shade at Ty on Tumblr, who’ve also outright said that they KNOW Rolin’s NOT doing the Lestat from the books! This is NOT their precious uwu blorbo, yet they go BALLISTIC when show-onlies say AMC!Lestat’s a p.o.s!? Lestans stay mad cuz of 1x5, and CONSTANTLY complain that they wish the last half of Ep5 never happened, cuz it changes Lestat’s character oh he would never do such a thing~! Even though IN THE BOOKS he’s still a p.o.s. abusive rapist cheater liar pedo etc, so WTF? I’m a book reader, and I’ve seen the movies, so I DO treat them as prerequisites for my own approach to AMC’s adaptation, and I DO recommend that everyone have that extra context, but I’d never say anyone is REQUIRED to read the books or watch the movie in order to have valid takes on the show--even if those are takes I don’t agree with. Y’all Lestans are wild istg, and attacking Ty just for speaking his mind proves how out of pocket y’all are--esp. cuz he’s not the first or last, y’all did the exact same thing to FrankFreezy & Olurinatti etc.
Many people in the comments kept bringing up the books or telling me that I don't understand Gothic media and there are no good guys and bad guys and everyone's the villain and blah blah blah. Please shut up. Y'all use that as a CRUTCH, to turn your brains off and avoid analyzing bad behavior. Just because a show is gothic and meant to show horrendous sh*t doesn't mean I have to like or absolve a character OF that horrendous sh*t, and I can STILL enjoy the show that HAS that horrendous sh*t! I know--shocker! (0:57 -1:32) ....Now onto this idea that consuming Gothic media somehow means I shouldn't acknowledge or talk about a character's sh*tty behavior...I can enjoy...a dark show that's meant to be Gothic & dark and still feel my feelings towards certain characters; especially when that character is a driving force behind the narrative. And if feelings are supposed to be taken out of it, why is it okay for YOU to love Lestat, but ME hating him is a problem???? This is especially stupid, because the people saying things like this are the same people who hate Armand--and not in the love to hate kind of way--they just HATE him, and that's fine, but God forbid someone hate Lestat; then suddenly oh it's a Gothic show blah blah blah (5:53 - 6:34)
Just say y’all like Lestat cuz he’s cute~! 😂 You just wanna self-insert all your sexual fantasies into the character you’re most sexually attracted to, and not have to think about or be reminded of his problematic actions, and all the critics out here calling Lestat out are ruining your fun and drying your juices. THAT’S FINE! Just say that, and leave the people who WANT to analyze the show more seriously ALONE.
And then there are those of you who also say that I'm an Armand sympathizer or apologist because I believe his actions are more justified than Lestat’s--which many of you have misrepresented as me implying anything he did was good. NO. I just believe that he's more justified in comparison to Lestat, and I stand on that until further notice, and you can stay mad about it! (1:37- 1:58)
PREACH! Even in the books, Armand HAD A POINT! Like I’ve always said about him: He does wrong things for the right reasons--the road to Hell is paved with good intentions! He’s a religious fanatic cult/gang leader who’s been brainwashed into believing those garbage Great Laws, and is trying to maintain some sense of order, whenever Lestat & his fledglings come bringing nothing but chaos to his doorstep. Is he effed up for doing the things he does? Absolutely. But LESTAT is the one I blame more, for not warning his family about Armand & the coven--not back in NOLA, and not back in Paris.
So apparently Armand forced Lestat to be part of that Trial in the books or whatever--I don't know, I haven't read the books.... You're so desperate to save face on Lestat's behalf, that you're revealing sh*t that the show hasn't even revealed yet. If you are not able to justify Lestat's actions within the realm OF THE SHOW, with what we know so far, shut up!!! Now if it turns out to be true, I have have no problem acknowledging that, and I can give Lestat grace in that specific instance. However, I'm still not going to FORGET about HOW HE TREATED LOUIS AND CLAUDIA--he was still abusive, I'm not absolving him of that, and I said as much in my video when I said no matter what he went through, what he did to them will NEVER be justified! (4:44 - 5:53) ... Maybe this is news to you guys, but you CAN understand a character, and why they do the things they do, without absolving them of the sh*tty things that they do. I can understand Lestat and why he behaves the way he does, and I'm sure Season 3 will provide even greater understanding, and I'm excited for that. But that doesn't mean everything he does suddenly becomes justified or is to be dismissed; that's not how that works. (12:38 - 13:04)
This is the god’s honest truth. IDGAF about Lestat’s sob story in TVL & S3. What I want to see is Les realize that despite the trauma he went through in the past, he’s done nothing but project his issues & hangups onto Louis & Claudia in the present, and that they didn’t deserve being thrust into his cycle of generational trauma just cuz Les didn’t know how TF to properly process his abandonment issues from depressed!Gabrielle ignoring him all his life to read books (#Louis); the abusive!Marquis not letting Les leave home to get an education or be an actor (”come play chess with your father”) (#Claudia); suicidal!Magnus raping him into vampiricism then abandoning/orphaning him without ever teaching him how to survive on his own (#Marquis/Gabrielle); depressed!insane!Nicki deliberately spiting Les and wanting him to suffer like he was suffering (”I hoped we would fail in Paris!”) (#Louis); know-it-all!/holier-than-thou!Marius abandoning Les for waking Akasha after Les had left everything behind & wandered around for so long looking for him & looking for answers Marius GAVE HIM, then reneged on when he got jealous Akasha liked him more (#Marquis/Louis).
I was also very clear on why I don't think [Armand] is worse. Yes he orchestrated the Trial, yes he did, he's sh*tty, I agree. But LESTAT IS CLAUDIA’S DAD. He participated! That is worse to me, and you're not going to convince me otherwise, until Season 3 gives me a reason to believe otherwise.... And I really don't understand why y'all are so intent to focus more on the fact that Armand lied for 70+ years, as opposed to Lestat helping getting his daughter killed. That sh*t actually confounds me. Oh, Armand erased Louis’ memories and lied about directing the Trial for 77 years omg he's clearly the villain~! Lestat dropped Louis from the sky just because Louis considered leaving with Claudia! And then later on he got Claudia killed! Like, hello?! At least with Armand we already know that he had it in him to kill Louis; he contemplated doing it when Louis didn't join the coven [in 2x3], so you expect me to suddenly clutch my pearls because he was prepared to let Louis die AGAIN? NO! ...Is he sh*tty? YES. Is he worse than Lestat? NO, not to me! He was NOT attached to Louis and Claudia like Lestat was. Two decades [Lestat] lived with them; two decades of living under the same roof, and he's their Maker, apparently sharing the Vampire Bond [with Claudia], and apparently he loved Claudia! But you expect me to be more mad at Armand...this random dude that they ran into and spent some time with for a few years, over the man who created them had a bond with them lived with them for two decades and then abused the sh*t out of them and then gets one of them killed! But he loves them~!... And I know a lot of you will stick to the idea that it's not about assigning blame and figuring out who's worse than who--f**k that! I have eyes and I know what I saw, and what I saw I did not like. (9:59 - 12:24)
ISTG I feel so vindicated and RELIEVED that there are Real Ones in this wretched fandom who actually have a effing spine, who aren’t afraid to speak their minds and call heinous ish out how they see it, and DGAF if the fandom gets mad & talks crap--SO BE IT. TALK CRAP, and look like simp apologists while you do it! 😂🤣 Go cry on Twitter or Reddit or Discord or wherever TF you want, but you’re not shutting up any of us viewers who are looking at this show with our eyes open and calling a spade a spade. I said it 1000x: LESTAT IS CLAUDIA’S BLOOD FATHER. Not Armand, not Santiago, not Louis. LESTAT. 🙄😒 IDGAF how cute he is: she’s DEAD, and he needs his lashings for it.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the comments that kept on saying: Well you can't look at it from a human lens~! Vampires aren't moral, we shouldn't put human morality on them~! ...I happen to think that it's reductive to make that statement, as if vampires are thoughtless wild things who are just INCAPABLE of having ANY type of morality. Louis, for example, CANONICALLY ON THE SHOW has not killed anyone since the year 2000.... This point proves that they ARE capable of having some type of personal morality, and DEFINITELY when it comes to them dealing with EACH OTHER. I CAN hold them accountable for the sh*t that they do! They experience remorse, they experience empathy, they are intelligent beings who DO know right from wrong to some degree. When it comes to each other...morality is why Lestat is apologetic to Louis! Morality is why Louis comes back crawling to Lestat expressing his own regrets for how he treated Lestat, even though in my personal opinion Louis was completely justified in his treatment of Lestat (but that's besides the point)! And it's how they're able to understand that what Bruce did to Claudia was WRONG! If they were just all-round immoral creatures, we wouldn't have the show, or at least not an interesting one! So yes they are fully capable of having morals and acting within those morals. Yes are they deep and complex and it's not black and white when it comes to how they interact and what they've been through...but I'm still able and IN MY RIGHT to analyze their behaviors and how they treat each other and still deem it wrong. They themselves do it! Why am I as a viewer burdened with the idea that I shouldn't be judging them for their horrible actions, when they themselves are!? That doesn't compute; try again (13:04 - 15:19).
AR’s vampires ARE still inherently human; that’s the whole point. She DIDN’T want to portray vampires as stock monsters with no souls or concept of morality. And that’s also why I disagree with what Sam Reid said about not seeing one vampire as good or another as bad. I can TOTALLY see some of these vampires as good or bad, wtf--Santiago & Bruce are inherently BAD. Sure, Armand & Lestat are more COMPLEX than they are, but that doesn’t mean they can’t EVER be seen as bad either! But y’all Louis-antis & Claudia-antis talk about how they’re p.o.s. people too! So don’t be effing hypocrites saying OTOH vampires don’t apply to human morality, BOTOH saying omg Louis’ the worst vampire on the whole show he’s so terrible to my blorbo Lestat/Armand~! Yes, there’s a difference b/t antagonists & villains, but y’all make me rotfl when you try to force Louis & Claudia of all people into the villain role, while saying with your whole chest that villains don’t exist in TVC/IWTV cuz that’s not the point and you don’t understand Gothic horror/romance as a genre~! STFU.
I don't have to agree with Anne Rice or the showrunners or the actors. My opinion is my opinion; stop trying to enforce this idea that because these people see it differently that we should all see it that way too. Once you put art out there, it is no longer yours; it is up for the audience to interpret! INTENT DOES NOT NEGATE IMPACT. This is a fundamental concept when it comes to writing for an audience: it doesn't matter what your intention was! If the audience sees it a different way, then you have to live with that!... So bottom line: the book and the show are two completely different entities, and they should be consumed as such. So stop trying to use the books to justify actions on the show; you look silly. (3:27 - 4:34)
PERIOD. 💯

You are so right. For the first time ever, I block quite a lot of my moots in twitter and tumblr. I can't believe all the things they said about BNHA (especially Izuku). Personally, I love all the events until now. Do I have complain here and there for a certain characters? Yes, of course I do, but that does not made me hate BNHA. Izuku is a great character and one of my favorite protagonist from all media....Also, as BKDK shipper, I love all the canon moments between Izuku and Katsuki (sorry if maybe you're a fan of Izuku but dislike bakudeku ship).
You know I don't hate IzuOcha ship (I think it's kinda cute) but I do dislike most of their fan right now. One of my ex moots said, "Damn with this events in BNHA. F*ck, at least Midoriya will end up with Uraraka. If somehow Midoriya don't end up with her and only thinking of Bakugou, damn I don't follow this series for the gay sh*ts...."
Like, I'm mad and sad when reading that... For me, I wish Izuku don't end up with anyone at the end of the series (as much as I love BKDK ship, I know it's impossible to be canon). Don't you think it will be funny if there is plot twist and somehow Ochaco end up with Shoto?
That very last bit right there. "... I wish Izuku don't end up with anyone at the end of the series", that?
I've felt that exact feeling since I got into BNHA.
You and I mostly do have the exact same feelings.
Starting with the ships, neither I have a problem with. I have ships just as much as the next problem, but the past year or so has taught me that when it comes to ships, some people don't actually see the characters as individuals and only seem to care about that characters for the sake of their ship.
Which sucks because I feel that takes away a lot of understanding the story. When you don't understand the character's story from their personality to their backstory to their growth, most likely you're not going to understand the overall story.
I hate seeing things like "Well, at least Uraraka will end up with Midoriya" because that just tells me that the person is maybe here for the shipping and that's it and don't care about either character.
Like, why are people so eager to see Uraraka become a wife and have kids? She is a, what, 16 year old girl who wants to be a hero! I want to see her be a hero!
And look, I know BakuDeku got some amazing moments together and some really would make someone go "I ship it". I don't hate it, some of you who followed me long enough know I don't. But at the same time, let's acknowledge they are separate characters. Yes, they're almost like a package deal because they've been in each other's lives since forever. They're going to be intertwined like that.
But come on! How about individually?? Midoriya became my favorite easily and not because of Bakugou.
Like, again, I'm for shipping. I got my ships. But it's not the ships that annoy me (unless otherwise like... *shivers*), it be the shippers.
And yeah, sometimes for any story I read I may have a complaint or two, but I will never understand people who built their whole blogs around "critiquing" and nothing else. Like, damn, how fucking perfect you want the story to be?
In fact, write a story that doesn't get anyone coming at you with something they don't like about it. Impossible. Because someone is going to have something they don't like about it.
Those people will have "takes" and then I just know they have read the story at all. They would miss details or misinterpret the characters how they want them to be looked at and still have no idea what they're talking about.
This fandom, some of the people can be fuckong switch ups, I swear.
So first, Midoriya is too emotional and a crybaby and it's obvious that his flaw was just emotional driven he can be. But now it's a fucking problem he's expressing his emotions at an appropriate time? It's a damn issue he isn't crying for a gag?
Y'all got to be fucking kidding me. This is the same fandom who at a time didn't give a damn about the villains. Who were like "they don't deserve redemption, they should die" even after learning their backstories. And now y'all want to advocate for them? Actually mad even though the story is not even completely done yet?!
I wouldn't say I'm an expert on BNHA or any story I read up. At the end of the day, I am just a fan who happens to be very entertained. I'm here to have fun. But the way this fandom, that fandom and every other fandom be acting makes me feel like I'm reading some whole other manga, watching some different copy of an anime.
[Note: okay, I did giggle at the thought of Horikoshi doing that with Uraraka and Todoroki. I doubt it would happen and I'm not saying it should... it's just funny to me because just yesterday I was thinking something similar with two different characters.]

Top 5 favorite AUs?
A good question! (I'm going to assume "types of AU" here - apologies if you were looking for specific AUs, but this was what came to mind first.)
In no particular order:
Platonic soulmark AUs. I am obligated to include this given that I've written multiple in different fandoms. :P I love taking characters who are Significant to each other and throwing a big red flag at them, in-universe, and getting to play with how they process that once it's been foregrounded. Also love the freedom and room for variety under the umbrella of "soulmate marks."
Reincarnation AUs. This one is funny because the actual concept of reincarnation offends me on a deep theological and metaphysical level, to the extent that I often have to rationalize it a bit within my own plot bunnies. And yet I love it. Love the idea of people starting all over, having new lives, but finding each other and starting where they left off - of getting to start where they wished they could have last time. I'm a sucker for it.
Fix-it AUs. Extremely basic, yes, but they're like candy. I also love watching the variety, in fandoms where there are one or two Bad Things everyone's sad about - they range all the way from "here's one thing I changed to give them a slim window toward a better path, and they are going to forge their way through with blood sweat and tears" to "what if this particular person had just... been less stupid" to "everything goes suspiciously easy for them but we all know this is wish-fulfillment so sh" to "and the bad guy tripped and broke his neck on the way to committing crimes THE END."
Negaverse AUs. All right, this one does have a specific fandom name, because Darkwing Duck did the "mirror universe where everybody's moralities are swapped" my favorite. It's hard for me to find a morality-swap/mirrorverse AU I actually like to read, somehow, but they are delightfully fun to brainstorm. (The key for me is A) letting your new villains maintain some core of their canon self while now being garbage in very distinctive ways and B) leaning just as hard into creating new heroes who you can love and root for.)
Peggy Sue/time-travel AUs. By this I mean specifically the "character gets sent back into their past body, with all their future memories," and... I have a complicated relationship with this one, honestly. I will often revolve AUs of this type in my head, but they almost always end up breaking down under their own weight. I want to give characters second chances but I can't accept the losses involved for them in going back alone, so I keep expanding the time-travel cast list until it gets ludicrous. And like, when I'm so unwilling to give up their present, it makes it hard for me to stay committed to wanting a new past for them. ...But even so, it takes up enough space in my brain that it goes on the list. ;P
Thank you for giving me a reason to ramble about my AU thoughts! :)
#ask game#i do have ONE time travel au still revolving in my head for one piece that i can actually see writing#but it's kind of a character study first and a fix-it second#(and i'm still cheating a little on the memories ;P but only a /little/)

If you had to kill off a character, who would you kill off?
And
Favorite guilty pleasure character
If I had to murk anyone, it would come down to four different choices for four completely different criteria.
For Being Scummy : Proffesor Port = Between his VA's own behavior and his in-show leering of Yang - this character deserved what Roman got in Roman's place. This character could be replaced by nearly anything else and I would be more content. It doesn't matter that he's a side character, the fact that really compelling villains and heroes got fridged and this creep is still hanging around in the background shooting the sh*t with Tai and Oobleck makes me ick.
2. For Taking Up Too Much Screentime : Jaune Arc = I wouldn't dislike him if he was the title card character, the actual main character of the show. But because Jaune is established as part of the supporting cast, a lot of the time devoted to him then creates a problem for Ruby feeling underdeveloped.
Ruby's own rivalry with Cinder? Ruby getting to face off against Cinder in a one-on-one? Those kinds of things end up going to Jaune while Ruby fiddles around with Emerald, or ends up getting knocked off with Neo as Jaune gets to be the last one to fall, with the longest bit of narrative focus.
I honestly believe Jaune should've died in Pyrrha's stead just from a narrative perspective, because Ruby herself was far more connected to Jaune than Pyrrha, and it would've played on the much more gut wrenching trope of killing off the comedic relief to establish that darker tone the story begins to take. Jaune missing from the story would've had a great effect because he us such an endearing character once people put aside how he's handled. He's dorky, well-intentioned, clumsy, and kind. He's a character that made me laugh the most in the early volumes because there is this bumbling energy to him.
No longer having his antics around to lighten up dark moments, and getting to see someone as kind-hearted and self-sacrifing as Pyrrha, spiral due to losing her closest companion? That's oozing potential.
3. Wish They'd Fridged You Before You Rotted : Adam Taurus
It's no secret that I love Early Volumes Adam as a menacing and complex threat. The fact that they turned him into a hatesink incel is just... disappointing. I don't condone anything that Adam does, I just wish he could've been something nuanced.
Honestly I think this is one instance where it might've been better to have him fridged by Cinder in V2 before the abuse narrative begins, robbing Blake of closure with someone she once deeply respected, creating a vengeance dynamic between Salem's forces and the WF to keep the subplot more relevant, open the door on more intricate moments of possible 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'.
Or even have him killed off by Sienna to establish her as the real authority of the WF, and have it be motivated by how Adam let Blake run off in the Black Trailer, creating this understanding that the WF is run like a tyranny where some people might want to leave or not use violence anymore, but are being strong-armed by Sienna.
Just... ditch the incel characterization on a character intended to be a racially motivated terrorist, who experienced literal slavery and was branded like cattle. He could've been a shadow that haunted Blake's narrative in a much more meaningful way.
Bring out things that had been left unsaid between them, regrets she had about not being able to reason with him and now never being able to have another chance to, have her reflect on her own actions when they were together / be emboldened to go after the WF. A friend she couldn't save but cared for, a figure of strength alongside cruelty - someone who pushed against and helped mold Blake's philosophies and beliefs into what they are. He was originally established to be her mentor - let him be that morally grey, influential figure who used horrible means to create progress for the betterment of their kind.
4. For The Whump Of It & If I Had To Choose a Main Character : Ruby Rose
I adore Ruby, but honestly V9 opened up way too many questions about what a reborn / warped version of Ruby Rose could be, that I couldn't help be more than a little disappointed (for other reasons involving personal issues as well) that she came out of her wooden cocoon as the exact same person from before.
The absolute bullocks to remake the main character so late into the series would also be respectfully tremendous, and I would have loved how tragic it all really could've been.
Ruby losing her memories, her entire sense of self, becoming this single-minded shell devoted to a strict purpose like the other Afterans? Still wanting to save the world, but perhaps being all too willing to do anything to meet that end? The emotional uncanny valley of her knowingly being the remnants of Ruby Rose, but having none of the connections to her friends as she used to, while they're forced to live with the fact that they failed to save who she had been? And they can't exactly abandon this doppelganger who exists as a living reminder of the horrid end of Ruby Rose?
Favorite guilty pleasure character would have to be Adam Taurus. Especially fanon Adam.
Even when he does get hatesinked in the later volumes, it's like... him being such a greasy lil wimp just makes me chuckle. Went from such a strong and mysterious fella, to a cringy discord goblin overnight. It's like turning Slade from Teen Titans into Slade from Teen Titans GO - the downgrade is so palpable it's just a sad lil slob in comparison.
He's my little insecure hate bean. He would tell me off for being a disgusting human and I'd just remind him of how he got pelted in the face by a whole a** motorcycle. Went from carving up whole murder mechs to getting dropped by projectile vehicles.
Then I'd ask him if he wanted to watch Titanic and he would ugly cry into a pillow all night.
The duality of a dumpster fire, to embrace a mask of toxic masculinity, yet, have the vibes of 'I could pick you up by the armpits like a disgruntled house cat'.
