Top 47K - Shrek SuperSlam
Join the HG101 gang as they discuss and rank a truly cursed game. Cursed, benighted, loathsome, and dreadful. A dark, dark event for the entire medium.

If you could relive any memory of your past, what would it be?
I'd probably relive when I was around 10 years old. I was starting to play video games, listening to cool music, and became an audiophile, started watching anime and discovering dress-up games online.
Basically, I started discovering who I was as a person. It was good times. No worrying about bills, working or anything. Everything was taken care of. Just simply me and my ds playing Shrek Superslam, haha!
I know that I can get back to that simple lifestyle though :)

There are so many factors that come into play when making a fighting game, that it becomes kinda interesting to watch what each game succeeds at and doesn't succeed at.
As an example, Nickelodeon All Star Brawl got some pretty good reviews and incredible sales for a licensed video game, and tons of hype too. But, it still fell off, but not for the reasons you'd see in other games. Mechanically, it was very solid, but where many of the criticisms were laid was a lack of content like items and voice acting. Eventually they were added, but it's a situation where the positive changes came too late, and most people had already moved on, even if the game itself was getting better with time. Hopefully if that leak about a sequel is correct, we could get to see more players hold on to the game, now that those requests would be there from the start.
Or for a more recent example, Multiversus. that did a lot of what nasb didn't do at launch, like voice acting, alt skins, and generally extra polish, as well as being free to play and supporting crossplay, allowing it to have an even larger active player base. But with time, that game is also experiencing player frustration and drops as a result of that particular game model, with content delays, gaps in releases, a rather small selection of stages, and season passes that are kinda a mixed bag next to other f2p games. Just like nasb, the game hasn't necessarily gotten worse, just that the problems it's had are only getting increasing attention with time.
It's gotta be real hard being a fighting game developer, especially if you don't have existing major IPs in your game like those two. I'm hoping we'll get to see these games as well as countless indie games grow more of their own scenes, maybe giving them more longevity even if the playerbase becomes smaller. It's not impossible, games like Shrek SuperSlam have dedicated communities despite that game being unknown compared to the scale and hype the other two games have.

Once we get more news about Shrek 5, can we also expect a sequel to Shrek SuperSlam? Expand the roster to include characters from the films after Shrek 2, and include characters from the Puss in Boots spin-offs. If any character had to take the role of the final boss, it would be The Wolf/Death.
#Shrek#DreamWorks#Puss in Boots#Some sort of story where characters who have canonically died come back because they all managed to trick Death or something#The game if done well would also pave way to more Power Stone clones#Donkey#Princess Fiona#Kitty Softpaws#Lord Farquaad#Jack Horner#El Lobo

Shrek SuperSlam
In generations past, a fairly common sort of licensed game would be a take on Capcom’s often-forgotten Power Stone. These games often had a lot in common – two to four fighters allowed to move freely through a three-dimensional area, picking up and using various weapons to KO the other fighters first, and mechanics that focused more on enjoyable chaos than true depth. Shrek Superslam meets all these criteria admirably, and yet something strange happened – people started taking it seriously. Well, somewhat – it was never going to reach Evo in a hundred years, but a small presence for the game began examining it more closely. Unfortunately, whatever community there was for the game dispersed some time ago, as there simply wasn’t enough there to work with.

i think with a game library as the ps2, a bad game has to be PARTICULARLY bad to really stand out
which is why its funny that the absolute worst game on the ps2 (which i cannot bring myself to even attempt to play) is the fucking NRA game
which even ignoring the fact that they are an icky bunch of people, youre buying the game for 1 of 3 reasons
you probably like guns
you want to see how bad it is
youre a fucking freak who bought it completely unironically because you have some weird obsession with guns and probably bought this to push it on your children who just wanted to play shrek superslam
so you would think at least a tiny bit of care would be put recreations of the licensed guns included? well

I LOVED DETROIT BECOME HUMAN.
Though I feel like my tastes change rapidly, I find that I have the most fun playing duel games like Teken and Naruto. My favorite game I think EVER has to be the PS2 Shrek Superslam and I always kicked ass with both versions of Fiona.
Currently I swing between online games like Papa Louis cookerias (Sushiria and Freezeria are my faves) and making very slow progress on God of War PS4.
Terfs/radfems, let’s take a little break from MRA & TRA madness for a moment and talk about something fun.
What’s your favorite video game? I spent so many hours playing mine yesterday that I started having dreams about it😳Comment yours down below, I’m looking for recommendations this summer break!
Mine is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. I didn’t think anything would ever come close to Breath of the Wild, but omg this game is amazing. I’m close to the end and I’ve cried more times than I should’ve. I’m intentionally delaying finishing the game so I can just have fun and enjoy it. My favorite Zelda game overall (but not story-wise, that goes to Twilight Princess)😌
