Heyyyy! Can I request 2, 6, and 21 for the excerpt ask? 😌 Thanks!
Hiya f-oighear! Of course you may, and one of these is pretty long, but I hope you enjoy 🥰~!
2 that makes me laugh
There’s quite a few that make me laugh, but this particular scene from COTF Chapter 23 always makes me giggle:
The children blinked at Yami’s words. A versus battle? They looked at each other with a mixture of excitement, confusion, and a bit of fear.
“ Alright! This is awesome!” Hikari and Brielle shouted excitedly, their eyes lit up as though it were christmas morning. Josslyn snorted slightly.
“ This is going to be a bloodbath,” Josslyn said with a shake of her head, then she turned to look at Ezio. “ Rest in Peace Pinky.” Ezio suddenly looked at her eyes wide in disbelief.
“ ‘P-Pinky’?! Your hair’s pink too, Joss!” Ezio shouted, his voice slightly high pitched. Josslyn couldn’t help but laugh a bit.
“ Alright then, the first person is; Hikari and,” Charlotte pulled out another lot. “ Ezio.”
“ I repeat. Rest in Peace Pinky.” Josslyn said, turning towards the pink haired boy, this time putting her hands together in mock prayer. Ezio could do nothing as he gaped like a fish out of water, but Hikari smiled brightly at him.
“ This’ll be fun! Do your best out there Ezio!” Hikari said, Ezio just stared at her as his face paled. As Charlotte began to draw more lots Ezio muttered under his breath how he was too young to die.
6 that i struggled with, but triumphed over
Oof I’ve had a lot, they were mainly pregnancy and birth fics, but there was one scene in particular that I really struggled with, and it wasn’t a pregnancy or birth fic; it was actually a fight between Yuno and his OC daughter Miku in COTF: Shadows!
“ Is something wrong?” Miku asked as she gently closed her book and set it aside, worry etched into her eyes that something had happened to Kya again.
“ No, nothing's wrong,” Yuno quickly said, but her father’s eyes betrayed him. “ I just wanted to ask you something.” Miku nodded slowly.
“ Can we push your training back again?” She blinked in surprise at her father’s question, before the surprise turned into exasperation and annoyance.
“ But it’s already been pushed back twice!” Miku said as she sat up straighter, and her voice slightly exasperated. She had been looking forward to training with her dad again, his smile turned sad and regrettable.
“ I know, and I’m sorry, but-,” Yuno tried, but he heard his eldest child sigh in irritation as her fists clenched the edge of the couch tightly.
“ ‘But something came up’, that’s what you were going to say, right?” Miku muttered, her tone becoming very annoyed. “ Something always seems to come up whenever you and I try to train.”
“ I’m sorry, Miku, I promise we’ll train tomorrow. I’ll clear my entire afternoon, how does that sound?” Yuno bargained, but he watched his daughter roll her eyes before she stood up, which made his eyes narrow a bit.
“ Yeah, right,” She grumbled as she walked towards the door. “ You’ll clear your afternoon, some nobles will come to visit or something else will come up, and you’ll push it back again. If I were Kya or Kito this wouldn’t happen.”
“ Hey,” Yuno called after her, his tone soft but holding a serious sternness to it. “ You know this is my job Miku, and it’s a 24 hour 7 day a week one that doesn’t give me time off or a chance to rest. I know it’s hard, but you just have to be patient-.”
Miku stopped walking and spun around when she heard those words leave her father's mouth, her purple eyes held a fiery anger in them. Her fists clenched at her sides, and she stomped her foot down onto the wooden floor with such force that it made a loud ‘boom’ echo though the room.
“ Patient?! I’m tired of being patient, dad, I’m tired of waiting while everyone else gets a turn or a moment with you! I’m tired of always having to be the grown up and waiting my turn!” Miku shouted angrily. “ I’m starting to think you and mom are pushing my training back on purpose!”
“ I asked Miku if it was alright that we push back her training to tomorrow, and she…got upset.” Yuno muttered with a shrug, and Miku glared icily at her father.
“ I’m not upset,” She exclaimed angrily as she stomped her foot against the ground. “ I’m just mad because you’re being a jerk and aren’t keeping your promise to spend time with me!”
“ Hey, don’t call your father a jerk,” Neva warned seriously as she looked at her daughter. “ Apologize. Now.”
“ No, I won’t!” Miku said angrily at her mother. “ Why should I when he’s a liar and keeps breaking his promise to train with me? He always says he’s too busy and can’t drop everything, but when Kya went missing he was able too!”
“ So it’s just that you don’t trust me to take care of her? Or is it that you don’t want to give her to me? Or did you already promise her to Kya?!” Neva quickly shook her head at her daughter.
“ That isn’t it either Miku, your father’s only saying that taking on Sylph is a big responsibility, and that he wants you to mature a little more before he-.” She tried to tell her, but instead of cooling her daughter's temper, she seemed to fan the flames instead.
“ You two just don’t want me to inherit Sylph and always want me to be dependent on you!” Miku shouted as she backed away from her parents.
“ That isn’t true-!” Neva began, but Miku’s gaze shot towards her mother.
“ Yes it is! You just want me to stay weak, like you!”
“ Miku Vega!” Yuno shouted, his voice raising for the first time during the entire disagreement. He could handle any insult their eldest daughter threw at him, but he wouldn’t allow her to insult and be disrespectful to her mother.
“ I hate you both,” The girl muttered. “ And I never want to see either of you again!” She shouted before running out of the library, leaving her parents standing there irritated and somewhat dumbfounded.
21 that i liked, but had to cut
Actually…I don’t have any 😅. The reason I don’t have any? Because I usually end up deleting what doesn’t work, even if I like it, and I either use it somewhere else or it just gets lost in the void. But, i did find two different excerpts for “Dandelions”! One is an “alternate” way that the beginning could have gone, and the other is when the two break up!
William frowned, he remembered there being papers on his desk about a person smuggling in goods without the proper documents a while back. They hadn’t been able to locate the person, but they did know they went by the name ‘Cinnamon’.
Wait, ‘Cinnamon’?
He looked at the shop's sign again before looking at the woman. No way, this couldn’t be.
“ Is the owner around?” William asked suddenly as he walked away from the bench and towards some other plants.
“ Did…I do something wrong?” He asked softly as he came to stand beside her.
“ No, you didn’t.”
“ Then…is the date not to your liking?”
“ No, it’s been perfect.”
“ Is it because of my scar?”
“ Of course it’s not because of your scar.”
“ Then please tell me what it is so that I can fix it!”
“ You can’t fix it William. You can’t.” Zera said defeatedly as she turned to look at him, her eyes held tears in them that she tried to desperately blink away.
William watched as she slowly pulled her engagement ring off her finger, grabbed his hand gently, and placed the ring in the center of his palm.
“ I’m sorry.”

The Christmas Mystery of the Missing Tuna
"Hey, Mango?" Kiui asked, looking worriedly through the door. "One of Queen Ningyo's missionaries is here to see you."
"HUH?!" Mango exclaimed jumping off the gate. "Why?! You and I kept the kittens' presents a secret!"
"She said it was about Benji."
Mango paused her eyes as big as dinner plates. "Ohh...Well crap!" She headed inside. "I'd better see what the feral cat wants this time!"
When Mango got into the kitchen, Hikari and a missionary named Tanzanite were sitting at the dining tables, talking over a cup of hot tea. Mango had to clear her throat to keep things from getting awkward.
"Oh, so you're the famous Mango the Queen talked about!" Tanzanite yelped, practically leaping off her chair to greet Mango.
"Y-yeah? Adoptive child of Hikari, and going to school next year. We've met in the Unicorn Empire. "Mango clarified. "the last time I saw you, you were under the wing of a general."
Tanzanite's eyes widened. "YOU'RE the girl in Japan the emperors found?"
Mango rolled her eyes. "Maaaybe be a bit more descriptive than that, but yes, I was mangle." Hikari raised an eyebrow, and Mango sighed, "Please don't."
Tanzanite practically gleamed with joy Mango hadn't seen from her. "OH WOW! You've gotta be some kinda celebrity to get recognized like that!"
Mango looked at her mother, her expression reading as, "Please, help me out of here."
Hikari smirked, her nonverbal response being "No. You got into this mess, you can get yourself out of it."
Mango internally groaned, turning to Tanzanite and asking sweetly "what are you doing here anyway?"
Tanzanite practically shouted, "Benji's can of tuna's missing!"
Mango hissed a curse, huffing, "But we bought those last week! We couldn't have possibly stolen them!"
"We know, so Benji wants you to help her find the tuna."
"I'm not helping her."
"Does it help the situation if Benji said that if you don't help her, she'll destroy the underwater park five miles away from the palace?" Tanzanite asked. "In her feral mode."
Mango blinked. "I'm helping her."
-------------------------------------------~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~-----------------------------------------------------
"WHERE'S MY TUNA?!"
"I DON"T KNOW!"
"Man, this argument is gonna last a decade." Kiui grumbled. "I'mma destroy the flipping park in my angry mode if you don't help me! Yeah right whatever."
"Kiui, watch what you say!" Hikari scolded.
"Uuuuuuuugh, fiine." Kiui hissed.
"No hissing either!"
"DANG IT!" Kiui whisper-yelled. "Benji's always been a stubborn, mean, old, entitled cat when it comes to us! I just don't understand why she needs to use her voice as a cross against the younger Mercats! Fat cat." Kiui muttered the last part to herself.
"Well, you try being a three-hundred-year-old cat. Surely, you'd have to eat tuna, too." Hikari replied.
"But she can still hunt!" Kiui protested.
"But she can't do that as much anymore, due to her declining health." Hikari hummed. "She's expected to die off by the end of this year."
"Well, isn't that just... Swell." Kiui growled. "Just dying off to give Mango the throne."
Glass shattered in the other room. Hikari rolled her eyes as she entered the room. "Alright, BREAK IT UP, YOU TWO!" Hikari shouted. "EITHER YOU TWO COMPLY WITH EACH OTHER, OR I WILL UNLEASH A FLURRY OF PUNISHMENTS I AM NOT AFRAID TO USE."
Kiui looked away to prevent herself from watching the horrors that came from the former Nexus Champion.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So, where did you last see the tuna?" Mango asked, pretty bruised up from the spar. The consequences of Mango and Benji's fight was ten brutal sparring sessions.
Benji mumbled, "I don't remember." She was upset, angry, confused, and just wants her tuna.
"You know, that's the problem with old cats." Mango starts.
Kiui said in a fearful voice, "Mango, no. We're not insulting Benji again. Do you remember the last time you did that -"
Mango continues, "You forget things, especially about where food is. Now, it's gotten so bad that it turned into a huge mystery!"
"MANGO!"
"Alright, see you two when you find the tuna ~!"
"Wait, no! I didn't mean it -"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Oww, that hurt." Mango complained.
"Well, that's Mercat punishments for you, young Merkitten." Benji huffed, grooming herself as she silently added, "You're waay too young to have my magic, anyways."
"Hey, what does that mean?" Mango asked suspiciously.
"You'll understand when you're older." Benji said quickly.
"Riiight... Okay, so, the most common place you lose something - no offense - is in the palace...with the tiger...sharks." Mango whispered the last part so quietly that if Benji wasn't a Mercat, she wouldn't have registered the fear tinted in Mango's voice. Mango perked up, however, and said brightly, "Well, no time to waste! Let's jump into a pull of tiger sharks!" Mango ran through the door, making Benji jump in surprise, springing to the ceiling before falling flat on her face. She got up and shook her head, clearing off the dust molecules that had collected when she hit the ceiling. Benji smirked and chased after Mango.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We're here." Mango breathed, taking in the scent of the salty, blue, lily-covered pool. Underneath these waters were tiger sharks, friendly and deadly. They like Mercats, but the sharks don't like Mango and Kiui for some reason.
"I think they'll like you now, Mango." Benji hummed, surprising Mango from behind.
Mango groans. "You ALWAYS say that, and the sharks never do -"
"They will, because you're the crown princess, and you will inherit the throne when I die." Benji snapped.
Mango turned to the old Mercat, whispering, "What?"
Benji sighed. "Just get in the water!" She pushed Mango into the pool, causing Mango to let out a shout as she entered the water.
After a few hours, Mango popped up, all scraped and bruised up, blood dripping into the water. "I tried, but the tuna was eaten by the sharks." Mango said apologetically.
Rather than asking if Mango was okay, Benji roared and jumped into the water. A few seconds later, shark blood started to shimmer on the surface of the pool. Taking this as a sign to run, Mango ran to go "grocery shopping."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Christmas Day, Benji opened her present. It was one of those T-rex corpses Benji always liked to eat. Upon seeing this present, Benji opens her mouth and dove into the corpse, cutting herself on the neck deeply from one of the scales on the dead T-rex's body. Kiui sighed and said, "You forgot to skin the dinosaur, Mango."
Mango was helping Benji as she replied, "I know, but for now, can you please call emergency services?"
Kiui exhaled, grabbing her phone and complying with Mango. Soon the ambulance arrived and took Benji to the royal hospital. Eventually, Benji died of the wound.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At the funeral, Kiui whispered to Mango, "Should've stuck with the tuna."
"KIUII...." Mango hissed, scolding the young Mercat.

If I die I am going to haunt your ass
“Maybe all the people who say ghosts don't exist are just afraid to admit that they do.”
― Michael Ende
“We gotta do it! “Mimi shouted excitedly “I mean look at how things are...Sora, Taichi and Yamato are in their first year of college...when exactly are we going to have a chance to do it?” “Eh..but Mimi-san…” Jou said disapprovingly “You and Koushiro-san are in third year. You two should be using summer vacations to prepare for entry exams and…”
“Yayaya…” Mimi said covering her ears “I’ll be studying design abroad, so that’s already taken care of. Koushiro here has pretty much his way into Computer Science on Todai ensured. So now problems, there. Come on Jou.-..this could be our last summer together, you know?”
“Last summer sounds a little ...dramatic don’t you think?” Koushiro said, chuckling “It’s not like we are cutting tights with each other.”
“No, but think about it. Jou is in med school. If it was already hard to get him to join us when he was just a regular high schooler, how hard do you think it’ll get now? Taichi, Yamato and Sora are in college as well, soon they will be so busy that they won’t be able to join either; Then I might be leaving to study abroad and Koushiro, you will be busy with school and that cyber security company you are working on with Tachibana. The group is scattering...and soon all that will be left will be those that pair of love birds over there!” Mimi screeched , pointing at Takeru and Hikari.
“Love birds?” they both replied puzzled. Hikari and Takeru looked at each, and Mimi gave them a mischievous smirk.
“Let her be, Jou.” Taichi laughed “Besides. The test of courage huh...we never did that, and yet it is something so...highschool like. Sounds like a fun thing to do, Right, Yamato?”
“What? Eh...y-y-yes. Of course.”
“I can’t say that Mimi isn’t wrong. We might not get another chance in a while, right?” Sora reasoned “I’m sure we can make an exception for old time’s sake.”
“Yes, yes!” Mimi said, jumping excited “Come on Jou. You can bring Marina-chan along, too.”
“Oh, boy…” Jou said “Ok, I’m going. Someone needs to make sure you kids stay out of problems.”
“Good ol’ Jou.” Taichi laughed.
“But where exactly are we going?” Hikari asked, tilting her head “IT’s not like there are too many haunted places around here.”
“Well...there’s that old shack by the hill…” Takeru said. “Didn’t our class go there last time?”
“Eh?” Hikari said “I wouldn’t know.I didn’t go ...it was you who went with those girls.”
“Ah…” Takeru said “True. I did…”
“ You’re such a ladies man, Takeru…” Yamato chuckled.
“It wasn’t like I wanted to go. Rest assured, bro. THere were other places I would have preferred to be.” Takeru chuckled.
“No, everyone knows that place is a farce.” Mimi said, waving her hand in front of his face “No, no. Don’t worry.I have that solved. Right , Koushiro?”
“Uh. I think I have the right place we can go.” Koushiro nodded.
“Ah...why am I not surprised about you two ganging up together?” Taichi smirked “I’m sure going to miss that. You are sure going to miss it, too, eh Koushiro?”
“Yeah. I admit it will be kind of strange.”
“Don’t think that you can get rid of me so easily…”
“Don’t worry. I wouldn’t even dream of that.” Koushiro chuckled “The place is chosen, so all that is left is going.”
“Hooray!” Mimi said happily “We go in three days then. You guys get psychologically prepared. Ok?”
Three days later, the group was sitting on a bus on their way to the outskirts of Tokyo. The weather was burning hot and the cicadas chanted in full volum, as the bus drove through a landscape that was becoming more and more rural.
“So...this is our itinerary.” Mimi chanted “ We’ll be camping on the near area so...first things, first. Preparing the campsite, then…”
“Wait…” Yamato groaned “Camping? You’re making us camp in a haunted forest?”
“The mansion is supposed to be haunted, not the forest…” Mimi said “It’ll be alright, right Koushiro?”
“According to my research, the hauntings are only restricted to the mansion area.”Koushiro nodded “ I don't think there will be any problem with us staying on in the forest. We can still ask around the inn we are staying to be sure.”
“That won’t be necessary. I am sure we can stay there without issues” Mimi said, winking “Or do you have anything to say, Yamato?”
“Me...w-w-why-would I...I have s-something to say?” he replied “I-i’t not like I am s-scared.”
Nobody believed it. Everyone knew that Yamato couldn’t stand any kind of horror related subject.
“He’s scared to death…” Takeru whispered into Hikari’s ear.
“Poor, Yamato-san. Even now he’s still trying to act tough huh?”
“His pride will haunt him, but this is actually going to be fun.”
“That’s mean,Takeru-kun, you shouldn’t tease your brother…”Hikari chuckled.
“Just a little bit, okay?” Takeru said, winking at her before turning to look at Koushiro. “Where exactly are we going again, Koushiro-san?”
“Ah…” Koushiro replied, turning his tablet to let them see “It’s an old abandoned manor. According to the legend, the family was practitioners of some sort of ritualistic religion and would often make human sacrifices.”
“Ah!” Takeru said “ I think I know. I remember researching it for my story. Isn’t that the shrine where the head of the family went crazy and slaughtered everyone in the middle of the night? Then he took each body and threw them into the pit, one by one before hanging himself in the central hall..”
“Why do you even search for those things?”Yamato mumbled to himself; sinking into his seat.
“Ah...yes, I believe so.” Koushiro replied, browsing in his tablet “Yes, you’re correct, Takeru-san.”
“But...I think I read that some people have seen child spirits roaming the forest.” Takeru said “ people who have gone lost in the woods say they hear children’s voices and the sound of leaves shuffling as if someone was running around.”
“C-children?” Yamato mumbled.
“Oh...really? That’s creepy. Children are creepy even when they’re alive.” Taichi said.
“Taichi!”
“What? It’s true…”
“Ohhh, I think I’ve heard that story before.” Marina said, peeking over her seat.” They said the children spirits try to lure you into the shrine, right?”
“Right, right…” Takeru nodded with a malicious grin “It is said that they call out at people, feigning to be in trouble so that people will try to find them, and then before anyone even realizes…”
Takeru reached under the chair and pulled Yamato’s leg. Yamato, who had been covering his face and shrinking in his seat trying to tune out the conversation, gave a jump and a very uncharacteristic screech that caused several of the other passengers to look back at them.
“WHat the hell, Takeru?!” Yamato said, reddening as the group laughed.
“...the ghosts grab you and pull all the way into the pit…” Takeru said, innocently “Just like that…”
“Yes, yes...That’s what I’ve heard too!” Marina said excitedly “ this place came out in a magazine recently I think. It’s one of the most haunted places in Tokyo.”
“Ehhh?” Jou said “From all the places to choose, Mimi-san.” “Hey, we wanted to feel the real thing, no? Come on it will be fine.”
“Is it really that famous?” Sora asked.
“Uh, I supposed. I think it became quite popular after the local government tried to get it exorcised or something.” Takeru shrugged.
“Yes! It seems it went pretty bad and the priest who came went missing.”
“Oh god…”
“Eh? Missing?” Taichi said “No way!”
“THat’s only gossip.” Hikari chuckled “ An exorcism was indeed performed. It was successful and the place should be safe now.”
“Thanks god…” Yamato sighed.
“I think…”
The last words Hikari muttered only made Yamato let out a groan. After three hours of road trip, they finally reached their destination. The group checked into the inn, dropped their things and, taking only the necessary things for camping, the group made their way to their destination.
Ignoring the fact that they were stepping into a rumored cursed forest to camp in the gardens of a famous haunted location, the whole thing would have seemed to be like any regular trip. The sun shone brightly, the sky was blue and the cicadas were chanting noisily around them. Perhaps it was the light or the distraction by the tasks that camping required , but Yamato seemed to have calmed down considerably. His calmness had been short lived, as the sun began to set soon after they had set camp.
“Alright everyone! Gather here!” Mimi chanted, calling out for everyone's attention “It’s time to make the teams for the kimodameshi!”
“Eh?” Taichi said “Isn’t that too troublesome? We can just make the team ourselves.”
“No, no!” Mimi replied “Absolutely not!” IF we let that happen everyone will just go for Hikari-chan.”
“Eh? Me…?” Hikari said shocked,
“Of course...so I tada…” Mimi said, showing them a bunch of threads she had in her hand “Everyone pick and end. Your partner will be the one holding the other side…”
“But Mimi...we are an odd number…”
“I know that! The threads have colored tags in the middle. THe one that gets the single thread will make a trio with the pair with the same color. Ain’t I a genius?”
“Mimi-san, wouldn’t it be easier if I just used my tablet to randomize the teams?”
“Koushiro-kun...sometimes you gotta do things the old way.Now pick!”
Everyone took one of the ends and Mimi counted to three before releasing them and allowing everyone to see the teams.
“Ah! Jou, we are together! Lucky” Marina chirped happily.
“Ah...Mimi-san, we are together.” Koushiro said, blinking in surprise.
“Eh...we are the trio, huh?” Taich said, punching Yamato’s shoulder “Don’t worry, buddy. Sora and I will protect you…”
“Sounds more like I’ll be the one protecting you two, instead…”Sora said, rolling her eyes.
“Don’t be like that…” Taichi laughed.
“Shouldn’t be surprised that you two ended up together, huh? Even fate is on your side,”
Tekeru and Hikari were still holding their end of the thread and looking dumbfounded.
“Lucky dog…” Yamato groaned “He’ll be the only one leaving this place alive.”
“Yamato!”
“Like you didn’t think of it, too!” Yamato said “hey Takeru. Be a good brother and switch with me…”
“Sorry, bro. I think fate thinks we make a good team…” Takeru smiled “Right, Hikari-chan?”
The girl smiled.
“Ah…”
“Alright instructions!” Mimi said “Everyone has their flashlights, remember to keep them on. We’ll go in with 15 min of difference between each team. Starting with Koushiro and I…” Mimi winked “Then Marina and Jou-senpai, Sora’s team and finally the love birds.”
“Why do you keep calling them that?” Taichi said, rolling his eyes.
“Here is a layout of the place. The red spot is our goal. Once you get there, you take a photo and you’re done with the challenge.”
“A photo?” Sora asked.
“Yeah, if you get a ghost to photobomb, you get extra points.”
“God, no!” Yamato said, covering his eyes.
“You can stay outside i f you’re too scared, Yamato…” Taichi smirked “Alone…”
“Well… I….”
“Uh? Did you guys hear that ?” Hikari said suddenly.
“Eh? What?” Mimi asked “What? What?”
“Uh...thought I heard a whisper…” Hikari replied very seriously, and the color drained completely from Yamato’s face. Takeru chuckled, he wasn’t sure if Hikari was being serious or if she had joined the “Let’s tease Yamato” train as well.
“Yeah, you can stay out here, aniki…” Takeru said, poking his brother’s neck with a branch and making him jump “alone...in the dark...surrounded by ghostly children and who knows what else...boooo.”
“Takeru-kun...don’t be mean.” HIkari scolded him.
“Forget it, I’m coming…”
“You’re a scared kid, Yamato.”
“Take a paper bag…” Jou sai, giving one to each of his friends.
“In case I need to throw up?” Taichi asked,
“More like , if you start hyperventilating, but maybe you should take some extra. Just in case. Yamato tends to throw up when he’s scared.”
“I don’t!”
“Mmmm…” Hikari said, “Just in case, too. Take one of these…”
“What’s these?”
“Ofuda(**Paper charms). You know, for protection.”
“Ah! Well thought, sis.”
“Thank you, Hikari-chan …” Marina said with a smile.
“Oh, and if you hear someone calling. Don’t listen...keep moving forward. If you don’t pay them attention, they don’t know you saw them.”
“Advice from the expert. Taken.”
“Do you see anything?” Taichi asked casually.
“Mmm, not really. I don’t think there are evil spirits.”
“Thank god. I’m trusting you word…” Yamato said “The building is probably more dangerous, yes…”
“Ok...well, I think we are ready, right?”
“Yeah. We can use the digivice to see each other’s location and to communicate in case of emergency.” Koushiro said “Remember...stick to the map. It would be dangerous if any of us got lost.”
“What do we do if a ghost drags us away?” Taichi asked.
“Eh...well….”
“Taichi...stop scaring, Yamato.”
“I am not scared. Who’s scared?”
“Just saying…”
“That’s not going to happen.” Hikari assured them “Hold each other hands. Don’t let go and you should be fine.”
WIth that said, the test began.
Mimi and Koushiro
The house was, by far, creepier than Mimi had originally thought. The photos online didn’t give it enough credit. It was even scarier than the sceneries in horror movies. The first thing that both tees noticed when they stepped into the old dilapidated house was that it was like stepping into a completely different place.
Outside, the sound of crickets and cicadas filled the forest. The wind blowing through the trees and one or two night birds, but inside the house it felt ominously cold and the silence was unsettling.
Mimi wasn’t scared. SHe had already made a quick run through the building with Hikari earlier and the girl had told her that the place was ok, but still, she had to admit that the house was creepy.
“Uh…ok. This way…” Koushiro said.
She might not be scared, but this was the perfect time to hook Koushiro. Who could resist the sweet innocence of a scared damsel, after all.
“Wait!” she said, hugging his arm “Hikari-chan said that we should stay close, right? Just in case.”
“I thought you said you weren’t scared…”
“I thought I wasn’t…” Mimi replied “but I must admit, this place is creepy. It’s making me hesitate…”
“Oh….” Koushiro said “That’s reasonable. We can step back…”
“What? No!” Mimi replied “What I mean...is that I would feel safer like this.”
Mimi hugged Koushiro's arm tighter. The action made Koushiro stagger in surprise.
“Ah..ah! Of course…” Koushiro replied. The dim light of the flashlight didn’t show his blush.” Sure...you can hold me, if that makes you feel better.”
Victory, Mimi thought. The pair began their way through the dark and eerie corridors, Something was hanging from the roof. Mimi remembered seeing ropes and fabric hanging earlier, but in the darkness, it was difficult to distinguish it.
“Do you think Jou and Marina have entered already?” Mimi asked casually,
“Uh? Probably…” Koushiro said, looking around the corridor. The place seemed to transform when the night fell “Knowing Jou, they’re probably walking through very slowly. I can understand, though...this planks could be dangerously rotten.”
“Oh, yeah...it wouldn’t be nice to fall into one of these...AHHHHH.”
Mimi gave a jump and hugged Koushiro tightly. This time it hadn’t been faked.
“M-Mimi-san?”
“Something touched me…” Mimi said horrified, “Something definitely touched me….”
“It was probably a piece of wood or one of those ropes…”
“No...no...I felt fingers. Cold fingers….”Mimi said looking around “small, cold fingers…”
“Mimi-san...please calm down. It’s probably a self suggestion.”
"I don't…."
Hehehehehehehe
"What was that? You heard it, didn't you?"
Koushiro had stiffened . He had and he couldn't believe his ears. It has to be a trick of their mind. Koushiro's logic mind began to work on any possible explanation when they heard a loud thud. Like if something had fallen down and then, there was a soft rustling.
A shudder ran down their spines and the pair unconsciously began to walk faster.
"Oh god!" Mimi screeched.
They had stopped in their tracks as they had come face to face with two figures, but when they shone their lights at it, they realized that it was nothing but a very old and dirty mirror, and the two phantom images were only their reflection.
"A mirror? Who the hell places a mirror in the middle of the corridor?" Mimi said gasping for air. That had given her a fright.
"Uh… Maybe it is a religious thing? A hikari or Takeru would know."
"Mental note to ask them later." Mimi muttered.
She'd been here earlier but she didn't remember that mirror. She wouldn't have missed it. The thing was the size of a wall.
"Koushiro… Are we on the right way?"
"Yeah," he answered, flashing his map c right on track to the main hall, why?"
This was Koushiro. She could trust his sense of direction, but why did she feel like everything looked different from when she had come during the day?
They turned around a corner and stopped in the tracks. Mimi swallowed hard and felt a knot form in her gut. This was definitely different. The room was filled with several old kimonos hung on stands, giving an eerie sensation of people standing around them.
"This wasn't here before…" Mimi muttered" Koushiro-kun… Are you sure we are in the right place?"
Mimi was holding his arm so hard, that she was beginning to sink her nails through the fabric of his shirt. She wasn't feigning anymore, she was really scared and by her friend's expression she could tell she wasn't alone.
Koushiro had gone pale. He had to admit that he was beginning to feel scared as well, but seeing how Mimi was clearly upset, he didn't dare to say it out loud. He had to stay firm for her sake, but the task was becoming harder as the sound of tiny feet seemed to have grown louder around them.
"Y-yeah. This should be it. I mean...it is the kimono room...so I guess it shouldn’t be strange that there are kimonos here….we are in the right place.”
“This can’t be right!” Mimi shrieked” Those weren’t here before!”
“It's ok. " Koushiro said, trying to sound soothing, " It’s ok. You probably missed them, that’s all…”
“How could I miss this?”
“Calm down. Remember Hikari's words. Don't pay attention and let’s keep going.”
Mimi swallowed and nodded. The temperature had gotten colder . The sound of rustling was louder and as they circled between the kimono, Mimi had the uncomfortable impression that someone was watching them.
They were starting to think that perhaps choosing this place was a bad idea.
"I wonder how Marina-chan and Jou-senpai are doing, hehe…" Mimi mumbled. She felt less nervous when she spoke.
"Yeah, I'm sure they're fine." Koushiro replied as calmly as he could. He could swear he had seen something move ahead "They should be behind us and not too far…. '
Almost as if summoned, a distant echo of screams that they easily recognized as the eldest in the group and his girlfriend, cut through the silent stillness of the ruins. The screams were terrified and Mimi automatically jumped into Koushiro's arms.
"W-what?" Mimi said in horror.
"Uh, Jou-san….” Koushiro said, “Right. He’s easily startled. They probably got scared with the mirror at the end of the hallway, too.”
“Oh right...t-that must be it...hehe. How far are we from the great hall?”
“J-just a couple rooms more…” Koushiro replied. Now he was sure he had seen a shadow run past them “T-this way…”
Niii-san, Oneesan… will you play with us?
“K-k-koushiro?”
“Y-yes…”
“C-can we h-hurry up?”
“Of...of course.”
Neesan, Niisan...why do you ignore us?”
That was too much. Forgetting about everything, Koushiro grabbed Mimi’s hand and sprinted away without looking back. Muffled voices sounded around them, but they ignored it and kept running and didn’t stop until they had reached the main hall.
Marina and Jou
“So we must wait 15 minutes before going in right?” Jou said looking at his watch.
“Yup, that’s how it works.” Takeru replied “ The point is that the team aren’t to close to each other as they go through the test.”
“You sound familiar with this, Takeru-kun.” Marina smiled.
“I’ve gone through a couple of them. “Takeru shrugged “never to a real haunted location though.”
“Takeru-kin is way to popular with the girls…” Hikari said tilting her head” they are always arguing to see who will get to go with him….”
“Well, I can’t blame them. A test of courage is certainly a good opportunity to hug or try to hold hands with the boy you like, right?” Marina said, winking “Isn’t that pretty much the main objective of it?”
“I thought the goal was to prove your courage.” Taichi said, dumbfounded.
“Well, that, too, but I think most of the girls just go in for that priceless chance.”
“Ah…” Hikari said “I see...so how many girls have you hugged, Takeru-kun?”
“Do you really want to know?” Takeru smiled wolfishly.
“I think it should be about time…” Sora said “It’s been 15 minutes. Jou-senpai, Marina-chan….”
“Alright!” Marina said cheerfully, hugging her boyfriend’s arm “you ready, Jou?”
“You’re awfully excited about this….” Jou said with a frown.
“I am excited! Are you not?”
“No...I still think this is reckless…”
“Oh, come Jou. Where’s your sense of adventure?”
“You are brave, Marina-chan.” Sora laughed “ unlike somebody I know…”
Sora nudge her head at Yamato’s direction. He was crouched by her side , with his head between his arms.
“Please be careful.” Hikari whispered “I know you like this whole spirit thing, but don’t let it carry you away.”
“DOn’t worry! If anything happens, I already memorized the Kuji!”
“Hehe...I don’t know if using the kuji, recklessly will help in a bad situation, though.”
“Kuji?” Sora asked.
“The nine hands seals…” Takeru replied “It is often used to ward off evil spirits.”
“You’re getting awfully good with shinto lore. Hikari’s been teaching you, huh?”
“A little” Takeru shrugged “It’s for creative purposes.”
“Either way. I promise not to use the kuji mindlessly.” Marina smiled “Shall we, Jou?”
“Yeah, let’s get done with this.”
Jou and Marina walked through the door and just like Mimi and Koushiro earlier, they disappeared into the house. A shudder ran down Jou and Marina’s back as a gust of icy wind blew past them. “Oh boy, this is worse than I imagined it.” Jou sighed.
“Yeah, it is even scarier in real life.”
“Ok...let's go.” Jou sighed “ Be careful, Marina. These floors could be rotten for all we know.”
“Yes, yes….” Marina siad cheerfully “Ok...according to the map, we should go...that way.”
Jou used his flash light to point at the direction that his girlfriend was indicating him. A large wooden door laid closed in front of the Jou groaned.
“Oh, great...doors. WHy couldn’t they trace a straight , no way to get lost, route?” Jou complained “These old japanese houses are like mazes, you know that?”
“Yes,yes...but we will be ok. If we get lost, all we gotta do is use our phones.”
“Knowing our luck...we won’t have a signal.”
“It will be fine. At least we are not alone and worse case scenario, we just need to wait til morning to get out.”
“This is a bad idea…”
Hehehe
“Huh? DId you hear that?” Marina said, pulling Jou’s hand.
“WHat?”
Kekekekek
“That…” Marina said loudly “I heard kids.”
“You’re auto suggesting, Marina. I didn’t hear anything…”
“I swear, Jou…”
“It was probably the… AHHHHHH!”
“What? What?”
Jou looked at his reflection on the old dirty mirror.
“Who is so crazy to put a mirror here?” Jou said annoyed.
“Ahhhh...creepy.” Marina said, pushing up her glasses.
“Let’s get done with this. I am sure someone is bound to get hurt today.”
“Don’t be so pessimistic.”
“I am not. I call being realistic…” Jou said” just look at this place. If someone panics and runs away...they might stumble with something or fall into a hole…”
“And that’s why we are keeping our cool!”
“Yeah, I am calm….why wouldn't I?Right?”
Kagome kagome...the bird in the cage...when . oh wen will it come out?
“Jou...tell me you’re hearing that.”
“I….” Jou said. THe color had drained from his face. Suddenly, his flashlight began to flicker until it finally turned off leaving them in darkness.
Marina screeched and grabbed Jou’s arm in panic.
“Damn thing...the batteries were new! Ok, calm down. Good thing I brought a second one.Let me get it out…”
Hehehehehe...hehehe….
“Jou...you must have heard that right?”
“Keep calm, keep calm….Ah here it is!””
Jou switched his new flash light on, but to both’s horror. They found themselves face to face with a white, masked face.
Hehehe….I found ...you!
Jou and Marina let out a terrified screech the pierced through the night. The doctor grabbed his girlfriend’s hand and ran off in a burst of fear, not looking back even once.
Sora, Taichi and Yamato
“Are you guys going to be ok out here alone?” Taichi asked, looking at the two youngest of the group.
“Are you sure you three will be okay in there alone?” Takeru asked instead, with an amused look.
“Touché. YEah...I guess you guys are probably the least scared here, huh?” Sora chuckled.
“I’m not scared.” Taichi said “I don’t have the crest of courage for nothing.”
“Courage doesn’t mean fearless.”
“Are you sure, Yamato-san will be alright?” Hikari asked.
“Don’t worry about him. “Takeru smiled “ He’s doing his “Courage “ mantra. He doesit all the time before concerts and...finals.”
“Yamato...you okay? It’s our turn now…” Sora said softly.
“Ok? Yeah...I’m ok…Why wouldn’t I be okay?” Yamato blurted “It’s just and old house. There are no ghosts there, just mold and maybe rats, right?”
“Right, buddy and maybe a few corpses as well.” Taichi smirked.
“Taichi!” Sora said, glaring at the boy.
“Oh, god…”
Hikari crouched by his side and put her hands on his shoulders.
“It is alright. There are no evil spirits in there. I promise you that.” she said in a soft soothing voice, that seemed to calm him a little.
Yamato took a deep breath and stood up.
“Fight hard, aniki!” Takeru grinned patting his brother´s back.
“Shut up…”
Taichi, Sora, and Yamato cautiously entered the house. Taichi was holding his head and Yamato reluctantly followed, looking around nervously.
“Woah...creepy. It does look like a horror movie setting, huh?” Taichi said, running his flashlight all over the place.” “It also looks like it is falling in pieces.” Sora added” Don't do anything stupid, Taichi.”
“What are you talking about?” Taichi said.
The piece of wood that Taichi had been touching fell apart and one of the pieces fell to the ground with a strong thud that made Yamato jump.
“I’m talking about something like that…” Sora said, rolling her eyes” Stop messing around and let’s move…”
“Eheh...sorry.”Taichi chuckled “This way…”
Yamato was taking long deep breaths behind them.
“Yamato, if you are scared you can take my hand.” Sora offered.
“Or mine…” Taichi smirked “Like a kid…”
“Shut up, Taichi. Can we get done with this?” Yamato said, rubbing his face.
“Ehehe…” Taichi laughed “Right. Follow me...don’t worry Yama-chan, Sora-nesan and Taichi-nisan will keep you safe.” “Taichi...I swear that if you don’t shut up, I’m gonna punch you.”
“Not cute….” Taichi said putting, the flashlight under his chin and making a “ghost face” “Not cute at all….”
Niiisan….niiisan…..
“Huh?” Taichi said, looking around “Hey guys...did you hear that?”
“It’s not fun, Taichi…” Sora sighed.
“No, I...I’m not joking. I seriously heard something.” Taichi said, looking around with his flashlight.
“Very funny, Taichi.” Yamato said grumpily, looking around with his flashlight as well.“You just want to scare me…”
“No...I swear...I heard something.”
“It’s an old house. Old houses make noises. You probably heard that…” Sora reasoned “come on let’s move. Haunted or not, this place makes me uncomfortable, so let’s hurry up and finish this.”
“RIght...old houses make noises...yeah.”Yamato repeated “ old houses make noises….old house….AHHHH:”
“What? A ghost?” Taichi said, rushing to where YAmato was.”Oh...come on...you got spooked by your own face?”
“WHat did you want me to do? I wasn’t expecting to find a mirror there?” Yamato replied.
“Wow...well. In Yamato’s defense, that mirror does make you look creepy.” Sora said “This thing is old, it is incredible that it is still intact…”
“Yeah, I don’t really care about old things. Can we get moving?” Yamato said impatiently.
“Why? ARe you scared that someone is gonna try to pull you into the mirror?” Taichi said, tainting him with his hands.
“I warn you, Taichi...if you…”
Yamato paled and both Taichi and Sora looked at him dumbfounded.
“Yamato?”
“Eh….you okay, buddy?”
“Something pulled my sleeve.” “What?” Taichi repeated.
“I said...SOMETHING pulled my sleeve.”
“It was probably an old nail…” Sora suggested.
“How…? There’s nothing here!
“Chill...Yamato. I’m sure you’re scaring yourself….”
Onisan!
“What the hell?” Taichi said, turning to look behind him “Guys...you must have heard that.”
“Maybe...we should move.” Sora said nervously “now?”
“I second the idea…” Yamato agreed “Move…”
The trio hurried through the old corridors and sliding doors. The sound of their footsteps against the worn floorboards echoed in the burying silence of the manor.
It was then that the group noticed that the steps that they were hearing, were not theirs alone. There were at least a fourth set of steps that definitely didn't belong to any of the three. They were smooth and light steps, as if they belonged to very small feet.
“Eh...guys….?” Taichi said looking around “Is it just me or something is following us?”
“Stop joking, Taichi.”
“Yeah, shut up…” Yamato groaned.
“I swear guys...I…”
Hehehehe
Eheheheheheeh
“What the…?Oh god, no…” Yamato said, losing all his color “No,no.no…”
“Yamato, put yoursefeñ together.”
“Are hearing that?” Yamato cried “Those are damn ghost voices. They are going to drag us all the way to that pit and we’ll be dead. It’s like one of those damn horror movies…”
“This could be something that Mimi did to scare us…”SOra reasoned “it’s not a ghost, calm down.”
“I hell...I saw something over there….”Taichi said suddenly “We’re screwed…. We’re gonna get spirited away and Hikari will have to go through the place trying to contact our souls to see if she can brings us back…”
“Taichi, you’re not helping.”
“I knew this was a bad idea. Why did I agree to this?” Yamato said in panic “Taichi...I swear, if I die I am going to haunt your ass…”
“Yamato….”
“Buddy, you might end up haunting my ghostly ass!”
Sora looked at the two panicking boys trying to figure out what she was supposed to do, when suddenly...
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Taichi and Yamato automatically jumped to hug Sora in terror. The screams had come from somewhere deeper in the manor and after thinking about it, there was certain familiarity in the voices.
“Jou-senpai and Marina-chan!” Sora said in realization.
“Oh, no! The ghost caught them!” Taichi said in panic “What do we do? We are next now, aren’t we?”
“Ahhh..! Something touched me again.” Yamato cried.
“OK, STOP IT!” Sora shouted impatiently “Taichi get a hold your reins, your panic is not helping. Yamato, for god’s sake. I promise you, there are no ghosts touching you. Now, we should hurry and try to catch up with Jou-senpai. Something bad could have happened to them and… What, Taichi?”
Taichi’s eyes were wide as plates. He was absently pulling Sora’s blouse as he pointed at Yamato with a trembling hand. Sora turned to the blonde slowly and she opened her mouth to scream, but her voice died away as the light of the flashlights died one, by one.
Takeru and Hikari
Takeru paced in front of the entrance looking at his watch. Meanwhile, Hikari was standing pensively a few steps from him. Her hands were clasped in her lap and her head was slightly tilted.
“Should we give them a couple minutes more?” Takeru asked “I’m sure my brother is delaying them.”
“Sure…” Hikari nodded “knowing my brother, he’s not helping either. He’s probably touching things he shouldn’t all over the place. I just hope he won’t break anything.”
“Sounds like, Taichi,” Takeru chuckled “So what’s the verdict?”
“Uh?” Hikari replied, confused,
“Ghosts or no ghosts?” Takeru asked.
“Oh, about that. Well...there are no evil spirits.”
“Uh...so no ghosts. Too bad I guess. “
“I said no evil spirits. I never said there weren’t spirits.” Hikari chuckled “I just thought that whether they were evil or not, was irrelevant for Yamato-san.”
“Yeah, under this conditions...he’s probably scared of his own shadow.” Takeru laughed “Ok...I think we can go in now.”
Hikari nodded and turned to the door. To her surprise she found Takeru offering her his hand.
“Uh? You do realize I am not like those girls and I won’t be jumping and hugging you because I am scared, right?”
“Yeah, I know that. I think this is more for my own moral support.”
“Oh, so the hugging went both ways around.”
“You wouldn’t be jealous, would you?”
“Should I be jealous?”Hikari asked, taking his hand. “Nope. For the record, I would rather go through this with you. Those girls jump at anything.”
“Getting scared in that situation is the normal thing to do.”
“Yeah, I guess I just got used to my little shrine maiden who’s not afraid of anything.” he chuckled.
“Flirt. Don’t let my brother hear you…” Hikari said, shaking her head.
“Well, Mimi-san isn’t helping. She promised not to say a word, but her teasing is becoming a little too obvious, don’t you think? Lovebirds?”
Hikari shrugged.
“No one seemed to catch the hint. Mimi is like that, I suppose no one takes it too seriously.” Hikari sighed “ what? Are you getting tired of the secrecy? We can say it...but remember that would mean I win the bet.”
“When did you become so greedy, huh?” Takeru snorted.
“Learned from you.” Hikari replied, winking at him “Uh...yeah. Not the most romantic place for a date?”
“Didn’t know you were taking this as a date.”
“Wasn’t that Mimi’s whole idea?” Hikari asked “She did arrange that sorting to leave all couples together, after all.”
“Including my brother a third wheel?”
“I don’t think she foresaw that outcome. Probably a miscalculation.”
Takeru laughed.
“I pity Sora. She’s probably going crazy with those two.” “Mmmm… My brother can handle the pressure, unless he sees something. Then he’ll just snap and panic.”
“Talking from experience?”
“More or less.”
“My brother is a lost case. They will be lucky if they can get him to walk at all…” Takery laughed “He can’t even see a horror movie without finding an excuse to leave the room every five minutes. I am actually surprised he agreed to this trip.” “Social pressure…” Hikari shrugged “but you telling him those stories didn’t help at all.”
“Sorry?” Takeru smiled apologetically “You know having the chance to tease your older brother is a rare opportunity. “
Hikari shook her head.
“Poor Yamato-san. Uh?”
“What?”Takeru asked “Saw something interesting?”
“Yeah...kids. Very mischievous kids.”
“Do you think they will want to play with my brother?”
“For his own sanity, I hope not.”
“So between everyone. Who do you think will go through this smoothly?”
“Mimi-san and Koushiro-san, probably. Mimi is hot headed, but she’s not easily scared and Koushiro is very rational, so I don’t think some random noises and a couples of shadows will make them lose it.”
“Uh...agree.” Takeru replied “So between the other two teams?”
“Hard to tell.” Hikari shrugged “ Jou-senpai gets scared easily, but having my brother and Yamato-san together, puts Sora in a very difficult position.”
“Do you think we’ll end up having to rescue those five?”
“It’s possible…uh? Weird…” Hikaris said looking around “I think we might have taken the wrong turn.”
“What? Why?”
“This doesn't seem like the right place.”
“Night time makes things look different…”
“I wonder…”
Suddenly, the two teens stopped dead in their tracks and looked at each other. There was a soft rustling accompanied by muffled voices that seemed to be in some sort of conversation.
“Did you...hear something?”Takeru asked
“I did...and those are no ghosts.” Hikari said with a frown.
“Huh. Hold on a second.”
Takeru grabbed his flashlight and began looking between the boxes and fallen logs until he finally found the source of the muffled voice.
“Patamon? Tailmon? What are you guys doing here?”
“Takeru!” Patamon chirped happily “Look, Tailmon. We found them!”
“Good...but we still have a problem. AGumon and the others are pretty much still missing.” Tailmon sighed.
“What are you here?”
“We heard you were having an adventure and we wanted to join.” Patamon explained “It was agumon’s idea. We thought we would surprise you.”
“I tried to stop them, but they wouldn’t listen.” Tailmon said shaking her head “then we arrived here and they all said they would search for their partners and went running on their own. Now we don’t know where they are.”
“Wait...so the digimon are running free around this place?” Takeru asked, surprised, “Well, that’s an interesting twist.”
“A twist that will certainly complicate things. What are the odds that everyone mistakes the digimon for ghosts?”
“Extremely high.”
“We must find them before they get in trouble.”
Takeru, Hikari, Patamon and Tailmon spent the rest of the night tracking down their friends and their digimon. As they had guessed, everyone had mistakenly seen the digimon as ghost causing them to run away in panic and passing out. By the time they had managed to gather everyone in the great hall -with the digimon’s help, of course - the first rays of the morning were already getting in through the holes of the ceiling.
“Good morning…” Hikari said when their friends began to wake up.
“”Morning…” Taichi yawned “Wait...where are we?”
“Mmm...where do you think?”
“Ahhhh…” Mimi screamed “ don’t tell me we fell asleep?”
“ How can that be?”
“We actually spent the night in a haunted house?” Yamato said with a shudder.
“Congratulations, aniki. You can now cross out “sleeping with ghosts” from your bucket list. “Takeru said with a sheepish smile and Yamato glared at him.
“What happened?” Sora asked.
“Well...it seems our little test of courage got hacked by digimon.” Hikari chuckled “Right guys!”
“Sora!”
“Biyomon! What are you doing here?”
“We wanted to play too!” Agumon said.
“And we thought we would give you a surprise.” Gabumon nodded.
“Wait...then...the ghosts…” Taichi said with wide eyes “The ghosts were actually our digimon?” “Uhm...yes, probably.” Hikari nodded.
“No, that’s impossible!” Jou said “I saw it clearly. THe ghost I was wearing a noh mask! Right, Marina?”
“That’s right! I saw it, too.”
“You mean...this?” Gomamon said, showing him the old mask. “I found it lying around...I thought it looked funny.”
“Gomamon…!”
“Sorry,,,I didn’t mean to scare you.” Gomamon apologised.
“We tried reaching out to Koushiro-han, but they ran off screaming when we tried.”
“Yes...Mimi you went off running when I pulled your skirt!” Palmon said sadly.
“Well, of course I would! You scared me to death, palmon!”
“The digimon didn’t intend to scare you. It was...a very amusing outcome…” Takeru laughed.
“I fail to see the fun in that!” Yamato said, annoyed.
“Sorry, but if you had seen your face...though…” Taichi laughed.
“Hey, you were scared as hell too.”
“I saw a friggin blue fire floating over your shoulder. Of course I was going to be scared!” Taichi laughed.“Well, at least I am glad it was the digimon and not the actual ghost. That was intense.”
“We are sorry…” the digimon apologised.
“Forget about it. It was fun...wasn’t it?” Sora smiled.
“Horay...it was, but wait...none of us took the picture...right?” Mimi said.
“We did…” Takeru said “While you were sleeping, of course.”
“You mischievous lovebirds.“
“We actually got some additional ...bonus photos.” Hikari smiled innocently “but since everyone is awake, why don’t we take one together before we leave?”
“Sounds like an awesome idea!” Mimi said.
“But...wait…” Jou said out of sudden “When did the digimon learn to sing Kagome, Kagome?”
“What?” Mimi asked.
“Ah, you’re right. We heard someone singing that, didn’t we?” Marina said..
“Oh... The song? Those were kids that helped us find you!” Gomamon said.
“They said it was a game, and they wanted to play with us, too.” Tentomon nodded.
“WHAT?” everyone, except Takeru and Hikari, said.
The two teenagers looked at each other and laughed. Perhaps the trip hadn’t gone as planned, but one way or another, it had become a great summer memory.
Ok....very crappy art because this was already pretty long.

gauis, chrom, inigo, ricken, & henry + their s/o being possessed by grima
anon asked: “Can I get um Gaius, Chrom, and another Awakening character of your choice reacting to the avatar/their S/O being possessed by Grima?? Thanks!!”
a/n: yES omhgggg grims angst i LOVE!!! also had a hard time narrowing the awakening boys down bc i legit love all of them,,, mod touko did gauis, chrom, and inigo n mod hikari did ricken n henry! --mod touko
tw: character death :0
gaius would freeze. for the first time in his life he doesn’t have anything smooth to say or any way he can work himself out of this situation. his wife’s eyes were now cold and glazed over, red eyes piercing into his frightened brown ones.
he calls for you, feet instinctively moving forward despite the fact that he knows it just isn’t you anymore. for a moment, you soften at his voice, and your eyes appear normal and soft, just how he remembers them to be. in the back of his mind he knows it’s futile: that it’s just grima exploiting his weakness for you, but he really doesn’t care. it’s over now, grima had gotten a hold of you. if he dies, it might as well be with your blade.
as he makes his way into your arms, the warmth they once held now ice cold despite the facade that grima puts up. his friends shout at him, but it falls on deaf ears, he knows what he has to do, for you. your words ring in the back of his head: “gaius... promise me... if grima ever... takes control of me that you won’t hesitate to take me out”.
he mutters words of apologies as grima stabs him first. the pain registers in his mind, but he pushes on, a silver dagger piercing into grima’s gut. grima merely laughs maniacally, holding gaius’s weak body up. grima sneers, the wound hardly doing anything to the fell dragon. “always so loyal... even to the end.” grima’s callous voice mocks, as gaius closes his eyes, hoping that he’d see you in the afterlife soon.
chrom feels his world shattering, as his chest tightens and he struggles to keep his emotions in check. for the first time since emmeryn, your plan hadn’t worked. grima had taken control of your body, and he was helpless to stop it. he couldn’t kill you, falchion of course could take you down but... no matter how many times he had promised you that he would, grima was still you. you were alive in there, somewhere.
remembering that lights a fire in him, as he calls for all of the shepherds to call out to you. maybe, just maybe, you could shake off grima’s influence. morgan and lucina are the loudest, both of them begging you to come back to them. for a second, grima hesitates, grabbing her head and yelling at you to be silent. you don’t, continuing to fight harder and harder against the gods power over you until it feels like your whole body is splitting apart. surely, the bonds you shared with your friends were strong enough... right?
then, you hear morgan and lucina and chrom and you’re determined, even if it kills you, you have to split apart from grima. you couldn’t die being the monster that your kids told you about, if you died you’d be your own person. you manage to push grima to the back of your head and charge up a bolt of lighting. this is it, you think, as the char surges through your body, effectively felling yourself and the dragon. the watery voices of your husband and children are drowned out as you smile up at them, finally in peace. chrom grabs your hand and you whisper: “don’t worry, i’ll be back”.
inigo would break down, he can’t handle this. he had lost again. it wasn’t fair, he had done everything right, and yet grima had taken you into god knows where, all of his allies wounded and bleeding. smile, smile, he tries to tell himself, but with you gone how could he.
despite all his anxieties, when chrom starts leading the chant of rallying together his allies for you, he’s the loudest of them all. inigo was never a bold man, but when it came to you he felt he could do anything. even in the void where you were, alone with grima as they try and bargain for you, you hear his voice, clear as day. his loud and bold statements of love and belief of you instill a type of courage you hadn’t ever felt. boldly, you reject grima’s offers of power and safety for your comrades -- she was lying through her teeth anyways.
once you come back, the fell dragon roars and enemies cover the battlefield (which was just the back of the dragon’s neck). inigo grabs you, pulling you close into his chest, and kissing you passionately. “thank you... now, let’s beat this and get home, eh?”
there was never going to be a universe in which henry could hurt you. and yet, he couldn’t just stand behind and let grima kill the people you had tried so hard to protect. was there any way in the world for him to keep both you and the others safe? he wasn’t sure he could bring himself to choose between you and the world; he wasn’t even sure what he would choose.
so if there was even the smallest chance he could see you again, he would take it. even if everyone warned him it was impossible, even if he knew it was foolish, he would try. he would not lose the person he loved most in the world without a fight.
so he put one foot in front of the other, until he reached you. come back, he says softly. i believe in you.
Y/N, i love you-- there is the slightest hesitation in grima at his words. your hand stretches out to him, and he takes it-- and you pull him close-- and grima shoves their hand mercilessly between his ribs, straight to his heart-- and the last thing he sees before he goes is the sight of tears streaking down your face.
ricken wasn’t cut out to be a hero. not ever, not really, not even if he dreamed about it and tasted victory every time he stepped onto the battlefield.
the only thing he tasted now was blood, and more blood, as his friends fell like wheat under grima’s vicious strikes, and the floor grew too slick to stand.
that was you, he thought desperately. you. you had to be in there, somewhere. you had to come back-- but there was nothing in what once to be your eyes, nothing but flat emptiness.
he loved you. he loved you so much. he couldn’t force himself to hurt you. all his spells seem to falter, and he could never force the words past his dry mouth.
failure. he was a failure for this. you might not forgive him for letting your friends die. but that probably wouldn’t matter, not when it seemed grima had destroyed every trace of who you once were and what you loved.
he hoped, at least, there might be a happier ending for you and him, in another life, in another world. he closed his eyes as grima’s fire consumed him, and he could almost hear your screams as he died.

The Florida sun is almost as blinding as the smile Ventus is wearing as he drags Vanitas by the hand straight down Main Street USA.
Vanitas, entirely too used to this sort of behavior, pushes his sunglasses slightly higher on his nose and squints at the castle straight ahead. The crowd is denser, because photos, and he does not want to shove through it. He sighs, knowing that his boyfriend will not be easily stopped. Ventus has plans for today and he will check every box or die trying.
He’d rather not have his obituary involved fucking Disney World, so it’s up to him to inject sense into the day. Vanitas “bastion of common sense” Hikari. The community at large would find the concept laughable. He does as he always does and ignores what the world at large thinks of him.
Vanitas gives Ventus’s hand a tug, slowing him up before they run straight into the mass of fanatical mouse lovers. “Ventus, come on, this way.”
“But-!”
The best way to deter Ventus from something is to redirect him. Vanitas starts to turn him toward the circular path that will lead to Liberty Square. “A picture will look better nearer to sunset and there will be fewer people right fucking here. Let’s go ride some shit.”
Ventus glances around them, but lets Vanitas take the lead on their direction. “It’ll get super packed for the fireworks. We can’t wait all day.”
“You could not get a picture right in front of the damned castle.”
“Spoilsport.”
“Fanatic.”
Ventus squeezes his hand. “You agreed to come, Vani. You agreed to have fun.”
“And I will. I will have fun listening to the screams of terrified children.”
“Oh come on, you are obsessed with the mansion!” Ventus steps closer, out of the path of a rushing teenager, and bumps their elbows together. “I knew we were going to be in line for it at least three times.”
Vanitas grins at him. “It’s a classic and not outside in this damn sun.”
“Ah of course, your poor delicate skin.”
“I will dump you in the river and watch the boat run you over.”
Ventus puts his free hand to his forehead. “Oh sweep me off my feet, Prince Charming. You know most couples want to do things like get pictures in front of the castle and share spaghetti at Tony’s. One doesn’t threaten to drown the other.”
Vanitas scoffs, “Please. You think threats don’t come up in Disney World? You really are brainwashed by the rat. No vacation is stress free and if you don’t think about choking your significant other at least once during the worst of it, then you’re not actually human.”
“Violence isn’t allowed in Disney World. There’s a spell over the whole park so any choking turns into loving caresses.”
“For some people, those are the same thing.”
Ventus shoves his shoulder. “You’re disgusting.” But, he’s grinning and Vanitas grins back. “Fine, we’ll go on Haunted Mansion first and then again after lunch and again once it’s dark. Admit it, Vanitas, this place owns you as much as it does me.”
Vanitas shrugs. “My brother’s obsessed. I had to find something to enjoy when we were coming here every summer. What’s not to appreciate about a bunch of murderous ghosts...and the effects are cool.”
Ventus points at him. “See, see. There’s something here for everyone.”
“God, shut up. I’m going to start swearing at top volume in front of all the kids.”
Bickering, but with their hands wrapped together, they continue further into the park.
By late afternoon, despite liberal application of sunscreen and layers and staying inside whenever possible, Vanitas has a sunburn. He grumbles a little as he presses an ice cool glass to his pink cheek. Fuck, it feels so good. Where’s the ice bath ride when he needs it?
Ventus glances at him, but goes back to the menu, debating which overpriced meal to pick. Vanitas glares at the back of it, deciding this whole thing is Ventus’s fault despite the fact that he had been the one to insist he didn’t need a hat. They’re all so cutesy and he will not suffer some things.
Vanitas closes his eyes and switches his glass to the other cheek. He feels melted and summer can go die in an icy blast from the mountains that he’s moving to the second he’s free of this mouse-run hell.
A tiny breeze starts up directly at him and Vanitas cracks an eye. Ventus is waving his menu to make the air move and smiles sheepishly. “You look pretty bad. Should we go after we eat? If you get heat stroke, I’ll never hear the end of it.”
He sticks his tongue out at Ventus and closes his eyes again. “It’s fine. I’m not leaving before the damn fireworks show. Worst of the heat should be over soon.” The glass moves to his forehead and between it and Ventus’s breeze, he might stave off hating the sun forever for a couple more hours.
Ventus buys a Minnie Mouse hat and shoves it on Vanitas’s head after lunch. It’s stupid, but almost matches his yellow sunglasses. He leaves it on even with all the pictures he knows Ventus is taking. Better to finish the day repping the better mouse than collapse like an asshole. Ventus buys a pair of Mickey ears that look ridiculous sticking out of his hair, but it makes Vanitas smile anyway.
Stupid Disney brainwashing and Ventus’s smile.
Vanitas breaks the moment by asking for the third time that day when they’re going to finally find the swamp and meet Shrek. Ventus shoves him so hard that he almost runs directly into a lampost. He to run and catch up before Ventus gets in line for the next ride without him.
After the sun goes down, the plaza is just as crowded as Ventus warned at the start of the day. Vanitas counts himself lucky that they found a decent spot against one of the light posts. It’s much more comfortable behind his back than almost slamming his face into it. He leans back as Ventus leans against his chest; his arms wrap around Ventus’s shoulders and he yawns.
The thankfully cooler evening air is a balm against his face, only disrupted by Ventus leaning their heads together. There’s talk all around them, people shouting as they try to find each other in the crowd before the first firework goes up. They’ve still got a few minutes and Vanitas closes his eyes. Exhaustion drags at him, an active day surrounded by people has drained him. But Ventus shifts in his arms, still energetic as they wait for the magical end of the day.
“Pst, Vani, wake up.” Ventus pokes his arm. “Come on, just for a second.”
“What. I’ll know when the show starts. It’s hard to miss the explosions.” Still, he opens his eyes again.
Ventus has his head turned to smile at him. “Thank you. Now, smile for me.” He holds his phone up and out, clearly trying to capture both of them.
Vanitas rolls his eyes, but as Ventus presses their heads together, he smiles for him. He’ll look like an idiot, Minnie Mouse hat on and cheeks sunburned, but he doesn’t give a damn. All he cares about is the smile Ventus wears and the light in his eyes.
The first firework goes up just as Vanitas turns to kiss him.

The skies were darker as they invaded the territory of the enemy, a secret mission filled with a tenacious bravery, kind and determined to lead them to the happy ending. However, as he was willing to avoid conflict…
… He had detected by the enemy’s air squad. The Airdramon group chased them in the skies, with the blue phantom dragon dashing in a risky attempt to vanish thru the clouds. It was all in vain, sadly, because those flying lizards with no hands nor feet had fired against them.
“ARGH!!”
They got hit. the digivice in his pocket kept acting like a phone. He heard then some voices:
“Whoa, they got hit!! I heard it!! KABOOM!” said an energetic feminine voice
“H-hey!! A-are you two OK?!” someone tough yet concerned boyish voice babbled “D-don’t dare to die here!!”
“You all, calm down and try to find them…!” a shy boy voice replied with some hesitation “Please, he won’t… like us to get panicked…!”
“Oh C’mon, kids. He’s strong” a fourth and female voice responded them all “... You know that, right?”
“Are you listening to us, big bro??” the energetic girl spoke.
“Hurry, hurry! We need to find them!” the first boy kept yelling.
“I don’t need to see your faces to know that you two are quite nervous right now” the shy boy sighed “They might be OK, but let’s not get panicked or we will be captured…!”
“You three, be quiet!” ordered the older girl “I’m trying to call him! Are you here, did you get hurt...? Please answer…!! You’re strong. Much more than you think…! If weren’t for your tenacious soul, we would haven’t evolved…!! Hurry up..!! Answer me...”
[01 - The World’s Future]
“Hey you two,” A familiar yet older voice called someone “Don’t you have school and work today?!”
The room was in the dark and the only source of light was a TV. Sounds of a racing game from an old rodent’s video game series was blocking the voice of a mother, who kept staring at a male adult and his children playing on an old Game Cube console.
“Did you hear me?” she asked again, “or am I being ignored by?”
It’s 2025, spring to be exact. Flowers are blooming and birds are singing. On days like these…
“I won!! Haha yes!” a kid raised his fist as laughed cheerfully about the nice sweet victory over his father.
“What-- How did you--?!” the man gasped as response.
The kids father then realized something odd and when he looked to the room’s entrance he saw his wife there, staring at him.
“Oops, are we--”
“Yes,” the woman closed her eyes and said in a very annoyed voice “You. Two. Are. Late. Again.”
“Haha, sorry!” the kid scratched his neck, smiling “This old game is exciting, mom!”
This kid, you may ask… It’s your protagonist. He might not be that different from his father or mother, but hey. He’s his own individual. His name? Motomiya Daichi.
Son of Daisuke and Miyako. Wait, are you confused? You will understand everything later.
“Time for school!” The kid exclaimed and left the room, took his backpack and moved towards the entrance.
“Have a nice day!” Miyako wished him, smiling at the boy.
“Thanks mom!” he replied and left the house.
“Wait what do you mean that I’m late to work?!” Daisuke shouted panicky.
The goggles in Daichi’s head reflected the sunshine when he goes chatting with his best friend about the game he had been playing with his father before school.
However, a younger child silently observes Daichi. He has a wild haircut as someone you know very well -- brown eyes, tan skin, a shade of brown more orange-ish… He stared at Daichi, but kept avoiding interacting with the older boy.
Later on the end of that day, Daichi opened the door with a happy smile. Excepting to have his dad & mom to welcome him as usual happens, he started talking:
“Mom, dad I’m home! Kiyoko’s at a friend’s house--”
But once he saw the empty living room and his mother alone, with some bandages and talking to someone on phone…
“... Mom?” he asked with a frown on his face “Is something wrong? Where’s dad?”
His mother let a silent gasp escape from her mouth. She then turns back to the phone and tells the person on the call about the actual scene:
“I… I talk to you later, Ken. Daichi’s home, I will explain it to him.”
Daichi threw his backpack on the floor and hugged Miyako tightly, lying his head on her stomach. She watched him for a while til ruffle his hair. With a smile, she says:
“It’s okay, I just got hurt at work. Your father is fine, just had to travel to New York, again.”
… I couldn’t accept that. It was all a lie. I was sure, he had vanished. Probably died, and no one wanted to admit that. But… they can’t fool me.
Two years later… On Summer 2027…
“Hey, big bro.” “Big bro…!” “Brother!”
She was getting so so DONE with him ignoring her…!!
“Motomiya. Freakin’. Daichi.”
She was there, hands on her hips and glaring at him. In front of the couch where he was sitting and reading a book.
“Are you listening to?! What is your problem?!”
That girl is, as you expected, his sister. Daichi shifted his attention from the book to the girl. Her having a rose-ish long hair, amber eyes, a pair of pink sunglasses in his head and a hairpin of the said color a la Hikari (when Hikari was young, of course)
In confusion, Daichi tilted his head. She was about to spit fire on him if she had superpowers. She rolled her eyes.
“You’re reading. Again. On a sunny day. Inside. Like, studying on summer vacations.”
“Reading and studying are indeed important,” he closed his book with one hand, and he said calmly yet colder than the winter, “Especially because that would’ve been his last wish.”
“No no,” she was getting upset with that ol’ talk about their dad’s status and whereabouts “don’t talk like our dad were dead. He’s in New York, okay?!”
“I don’t think so, Kiyoko. But I’ll spare you from all of my assumptions.”
She tilted her her in silence. That was so uncalled for! No, her dad is not dead! Sure, he’s super duper famous and has to get some bodyguards like a couple of humans and digimons, but… Why on earth would someone try to kill Motomiya Daisuke, the man everyone adores and feels blessed for his kindness and high spirits?!
“Listen here, Daichi” she started “Our dad IS alive because--”
“Help. Help me. Miyako…!” a mysterious voice echoed in the room “I… I need you. And The Digichosen. Hurry…!!”
“W-what was that voice?!” Kiyoko looked to the ceiling, and when she looked back at Daichi… He had gotten up and passed by her side, following that voice.
“Kiyoko, go stay with your friends,” he said.
The voice led him to a room. The same room he used to play games with his father. Once the door was open, he saw a small pink bunny digimon (who looked like similar to a Chibimon) lying on the floor.
“A… Digimon?”
Another look in the room and he realized the old computer was mysteriously on. It had passed three years from the day his father had (suddenly) disappeared. That room kept closed for most of the time. Has that digimon invaded the room while no one had been paying attention to their surroundings?
Oh, it moved. It woke up and her green eyes met him. Due to the tension, the small digimon switched forms… to a woman. A very familiar woman to Daichi.
“N-Natsu?!” the boy was surprised yet confused
She glanced at the boy, then started looking around to make sure no one had followed her. But why? Why is Natsu a digimon? What’s happening here?!
“Daichan… I need to find your mother, and the rest of the group, very quickly.”
Daichi blinked. A ‘group’ of what? Friends? Adults? Maybe he could just call Taichi and ask for help, but…
“Mom’s at work right now. And I don’t know about this group you’re talking about.”
“The Chosen Children! Don’t you know?”
“My parents and their friends told us some stories about them, but mom is a regular Digimon researcher and not a legend heroine.”
Oops, she forgot that Taichi and Daisuke alongside the others had decided to make it a secret from their children. Not like they don’t enjoy their glorious past, but they definitely do not desire their kids to risk their lives. Chosen Children -- Or just like they decided to change the term for ‘Digichosen’ -- will always exist no matter what happens.
But, they will fight to keep their children safe and live a happy life. That world already is a chaos with both worlds connected, with both human and digimon groups living in each other’s world.
“I have to tell you a secret” Natsu showed some determination with her words. She had decided to trust that kid, despite Daisuke’s wishes, “Your parents are part of that group. And some of their friends too.”
“W-wait, my late father too?!” it was too much information for him.
“He’s not dead!” Natsu went a bit defensive, but calmed down “He’s… lost in the Digital World. I know I can find him, but I need your mother’s help. Any adult Chosen is fine though.”
Daichi felt strange, his eyes were lively after three years of wild theories and despair. He had lost hope for so much time that he had admitted defeat.
“Can I help you…?” he asked with some excitement “I’m a hero’s child! And I’m good at lots of things, like--”
“I can’t let you help, Daichan” she avoided look at his eyes “Your parents, especially your mother, would’ve killed me if I let you do that.”
“Mom’s not home, I don’t know who’re the other heroes, Kiyoko is with her friends right now… I’m the only one here and if you are in trouble…”
“L-Listen, I can’t let you--!!”
“Besides, the legendary Chosen Children were around my age when they saved the world. Are you saying a kid can’t save his own father?”
Oh, he’s got some kind of Miyako in it…
“... No but-- Miyako’s gonna be mad at me--”
“My father would’ve let me help you because he knows I’d be safe with you~”
“He-- He wouldn’t--” she felt conflicted, imagining Daisuke telling her he was proud of her for taking care of his children while he hadn’t been around.
Natsu felt totally defeated by that fantasy. Daichi laughed, smirking and resembling very much his father.
“O-Ok! Motomiya Daisuke would’ve been so much happy to have his own son adventuring into the DigiWorld and saving him and it!” she was quite noisy now “Daichan, I’ll protect you with my life! I’m going to die for you!!”
“C-Cut out the part of ‘dying for me’ and let’s go!” he had regrets… oh boy.
She opened the gate with the computer and then… Both her and Daichi were absorbed by the screen’s light.
------------------------------------------------------------
“Your brother is annoying.”
Kiyoko had to agree with the short boy, while the second boy had been there in silence, just watching them chatting.
“I know that” she seemed a little upset yet “Like, what’s wrong going to play some sport or game OUTSIDE?! Or I dunno, read a book but in the park?!”
“That’s why he’s a sore loser.”
“I’d have preferred he was the same Daichi from years ago!”
“Yeah, at least he wasn’t annoying and goody-two-shoes like now!”
“Can you believe he thinks my dad is dead?! No, not just that, he definitely talks like if my dad is dead!”
“Tch, how insensitive he is… My dad would’ve said something if mr. Motomiya had been dead for a long time!”
“My father would’ve said too” the third kid said with a quiet voice “He’s not only an officer but also a best friend for your father, Kiyoko...”
“I know, I know!” she snorted “Daichi’s definitely upset because it’s taking too much time for our dad’s return.”
“At least he’s going home someday…” the first boy clenched his hand.
“Please don’t like if uncle Taichi were dead, Taisuke…” the other boy asked.
“M-my bad, Eiji…!” Taisuke babbled “I meant like… N-Never mind!!”
------------------------------------------------------------
“W-where are we?”
“Daichan, this is the Digital World, or DigiWorld to make it short.”
Exotic plants with bizarre formats and colors… The skies being like a watercolor paint… A few data and circuits running through the scenario, strange vending machines in the middle of the florest…
Everything was new for him, like if he had opened the door for a brand new experience. It was different from books and photos, seemed much more better to live in. He had heard a lot about the DigiWorld, except his parents never let him go there and always said he had to wait a little more. When was this “little more” if not now? He’s good at surviving the summer camp, interacting with the digimon as well. How can it go wrong?
“Now listen,” Natsu looked at the kid with a serious glare “Whatever you heard about this place, know that there’s an actual civil war happening here, your father and the others had been dealing with. Stay closer and do not go walk alone.”
“What’s… What’s happening?”
“So, you’ve heard about that one time Yggdrasil went nuts and tried to separate humans and digimons from each other? Your father and mother discovered it and tried to stop, but they, Ken and Iori got captured instead. Taichi and the other seven saved us all but… Something went off.”
“I… I didn’t know that-- Wait a minute!? Taichi… Yagami Taichi?!”
“You have to learn a lot of things I guess.”
“Why didn’t dad tell me before…?”
“He…” Natsu looked found some difficulty to word that answer, “He was going tell you a little later.”
“Was he…?”
“... When you were about to turn ten, he had decided to tell you but… A little unfortunate event happened. But I’m sure I can find him, I can…!”
She was acting suspicious, like avoiding to say something. What was the ‘secret’ she’s keeping away from him…? Did something happen to his dad?
“What happened to him…? Do you know something, Natsu...?”
She didn’t answer and avoided look at him during their walk in the forest. It got on Daichi’s nerves so much because he wanted to know, he really wanted to help there but Natsu’s silence was worse than passing through years thinking his father had been dead.
And when he finally got some concrete clue about that mystery…
“Natsu! Tell me now!” his voice sounded serious, he definitely gritted his teeth like when Daisuke does when angry “I’m his son, I have to know!”
“I… I can’t tell you now!” she babbled “I’m sorry but maybe we should go home--”
A lightning needle has passed through them and all she could do was rise a pinkish forcefield around her and the boy. She knew… The one hunting her down, the one she had been trying to hide from... was there. Now some regret hit her conscience, putting Daichi in danger like that! He does not have a digimon partner! And she’s not partnered to him! Plus, she’s not even Daisuke’s partner but just a mere ally digimon who had ‘adopted’ by Daisuke a long time ago.
“Wha-what was that?!” the kid gasped “Is it… A digimon attack?!”
“Stay quiet, please! And run…!” she grabbed Daichi’s hand and left the place, with a shadow following them in the woods.

D・N・Angel - Balance(Fanfic)
My take on a possible direction the DNANGEL finale might go.
Daisuke has to choose between breaking his promise to Freedert and breaking his promise to Satoshi. AKA Daisuke’s promise with Freedert + Satoshi’s family curse of dying early = ?
Story underneath read more
A03 and FFN link added to the reply section since it doesn’t show up in the tag with them linked. :(
“Please..don’t choose death to protect your love. To protect your love....no matter what...you must live.” - Freedert
As he watched Satoshi’s nearly lifeless body fall to the floor amidst the pained and confused screams of the Black Wings, Daisuke couldn’t believe how quickly everything had gone wrong.
It had all started with dreams of the first Niwa and Hikari. Daisuke had dreams of them here and there for years, but had never really put much thought into the dreams. Until, that is, he saw Hiwatari Kei. At first, he hadn’t realized the significance Hiwatari senior’s appearance, and had attributed his appearance to an identical ancestor-just as both Satoshi and Daisuke’s were identical to the Hikari and Niwa within Daisuke’s dreams. However, Dark, being a part of Daisuke and therefore privy to his dreams from time to time, began to recall seeing someone identical to Hiwatari senior enough times to be suspicious during his time with Daisuke’s family. Each and every generation of Hiwatari had been identical down to the smallest mole. Seeds of suspicion were planted.
But before Daisuke and and a protesting Dark were able to confront Satoshi about it(or, to be accurate, before Daisuke was able to gather his courage to ignore his family’s protests and confront Satoshi about it), they’d felt a massive surge of power as the last of the Black Wing’s seals finally broke.
As it, for once, hadn’t been a school day (thank the kami for small miracles), Daisuke and Dark were able to contact the rest of the Niwas to make a plan, and, that night, headed to where they could feel the presence of the Black Wings to make their daring theft. As it always was with Satoshi absent, getting through the police and to the target was embarrassingly easy.
Once they arrived though....things went downhill fast.
In a series of events too fast for Daisuke to follow, Dark and Krad had both been absorbed into a now berserk Black Wing, and Satoshi was a forced participant of a ritual that rid Hiwatari Kei of his apparent age. This seeming immortality of Hiwatari Kei, the shortened lifespan of the Hikari line, the constant background appearance of Hiwatari senior look-alikes during Dark’s life near the Hikari descendants painted a clear picture. For hundreds of years Hiwatari Kei had used the abilities and life of the Hikari line to essentially make himself immortal.*
As the ritual finished, Hiwatari stood triumphant. Behind him, both personalities of the Black Wings seemed to agree on something, as the furious Black Wings(Dark? Krad? Or... Daisuke wondered, looking at one white and one black wing both? ) viciously attacked Hiwatari senior, lobbing him high ober Daisuke’s head. From behind, Daisuke heard the sound of bones crunching as he smashed into the wall. Daisuke shuddered when he heard the thud of Hiwatari’s body hitting the floor, and knew there was no way the man had survived. But the Black Wings was furious, and white wings(Krad?) flapped overhead as they flew to where Hiwatari Kei lay dead on the floor.
At the sight of Hiwatari senior’s blood splattering the floor, the Black Wings again went berserk, clutching their head in their hands and screaming with the pain as it tried to reconcile the halves that had been separate for far too long. With one threat eliminated Krad fought to eliminate Daisuke, the problematic Niwa, and Dark fought to protect his tamer. Their hair, wing, and eye color rapidly flipped back between their light and dark colors as they each fought for control, the constant switching as they yanked control from the other leaving them temporarily immobile.
But Daisuke didn’t see any of that.
Horrified, he watched as Satoshi swayed dangerously where he stood. With all the speed his aching body could muster, he sprinted towards Satoshi’s falling form. Before he could reach him though, Satoshi, like his “father” before him, landed knees first with a sickening thud on the floor.
“HIWATARI-KUN!!!!!” The shout tore from Daisuke’s throat as he skidded to a stop near Satoshi’s unconscious form. Daisuke knelt on the floor and lifted terrified hands to give Satoshi’s prone shoulders a hard shake.
No response. Icy fear flooded Daisuke’s veins.
“Hiwatari...kun..?”
Daisuke gave him another shake. No response.
Was he...???
Daisuke shakily moved his right hand to look for a pulse on Satoshi’s neck. After a few agonizing moments of fumbling and worrying, he finally found it.
Badum.
Badum.
A small relieved sight slipped through Daisuke’s chapped lips.
Satoshi was alive. His pulse was weak, but it was still there.
Gently he shifted Satoshi’s too light and too cold body to rest Satoshi’s head in his lap. He left his shaky right hand on Satoshi’s pulse as he leant down further over Satoshi to listen for breath.
Daisuke shook as he tried to come up with a plan. He didn’t know what to do- usually when something went wrong Satoshi or Dark would be there to fix it. But this time Satoshi and Dark were the ones that needed help, and Daisuke had nothing. He wasn’t smart like Satoshi and he wasn’t helpful like Dark.
Like always, Daisuke was completely and utterly powerless. Terrified tears filled his eyes as memories accosted him.
“My family is short lived. My mother died young and I probably don’t have long either. ”
“We will do something. No matter what...we’ll do something...!!!”
That’s right. He’d promised Satoshi that they’d do something to save him.
Died young? Daisuke knew of another woman who had died young. A woman who’d selflessly given all her remaining time to a loved one.
Daisuke’s head jerked up as he realized.
“That’s it!” His time! He could save Satoshi! He could-
“Please..don’t choose death to protect your love. To protect your love....no matter what...you must live.”
Those words spoken by Freedert as she mourned her fate burned within Daisuke’s skull as Satoshi’s laboured breath stabbed it like ice picks. The two warred within him, determination burning like fire through his veins, and fear flooding his veins with ice. Daisuke knew from Freedert’s experience that giving your life, your time, for someone else’s life only ended in tragedy. He’d seen that very tragedy with is own two eyes. And yet, when push came to shove, he couldn’t not do anything. With every laboured breath, with every pulse of Satoshi’s veins, Daisuke heard the frantic sound of time running out.
“‘Something’. I think ‘something’ has already happened. I...could have died after a lifetime of hating my ancestor and the Niwa. But...because you’re who you are Daisuke...I stopped being full of hate.”
Satoshi had truly believed it then. That Daisuke had already saved him. That simply treating him like another person was enough. But when Daisuke recalled the look on Satoshi’s face as he said that...the small smile and look of relief....
...Daisuke wanted to Satoshi’s smile again. He wanted to truly save him.
However, as Freedert had shown him, would it do any good to give his time to Satoshi? Daisuke’s mom, Riku, Risa, Saehara, Dark- even Satoshi himself would probably be devastated if something happened to Daisuke. They always worried when he got hurt, and this would be so much worse. Also, Satoshi always seemed to have a low opinion of himself and was resigned to his fate- what would happen if he did what Elliot, Freedert’s lover, had done and tried to give back his restored time? Daisuke would like to think that was an impossibility-Satoshi was the smartest person he knew, after all, but that very tragic possibility had been thrown in his face when Freedert told her story of Ice and Dark.
And yet....what about Daisuke’s own feelings? No matter what Satoshi believed, Daisuke found him worthy. Worthy of being saved, worthy of family, worthy of friends...of love, and of life. He deserved to have a life full of smiles. The loss of Satoshi, the only person who eclipsed even Dark’s understanding of what Daisuke had been through, the only person who ever seemed to completely understand Daisuke was something that was utterly, catastrophically, wrong.
It was wrong and it wasn’t fair. Satoshi’s life had been stolen from him by Krad-who shared his soul-and the one person who was supposed to always protect Satoshi-Satoshi’s own adoptive Father. An adoptive father who’d been stealing the lives of the Hikari family and their artworks for hundreds of years.
It wasn’t fair. Bitter tears filled up Daisuke’s eyes. It wasn’t fair. He’d promised both of them. But he couldn’t keep the two promises. To save Satoshi he’d have to choose death. To keep his promise to Freedert he’d have to let Satoshi die of the ritual.
The Black Wings continued to struggle with itself, switching between Dark and Krad’s personalities, trying desperately to find a balance as it cried out, louder, from somewhere behind Daisuke, who couldn’t find it in himself to leave Satoshi struggling on the floor that had already seen the death of Hiwatari Kei. Satoshi would know what to do to fix the Black Wings- he’d always known how to fix everything. And if Dark were himself he’d save everyone. It was always Daisuke who’d been-who was still- powerless.
Daisuke-angry, sad, and still very, very, careful-stiffly steadied Satoshi’s head and lifted him from off of his lap and up into his chest as he bent himself forward around Satoshi. The feel of Satoshi’s slowing heartbeat and the quieting of his struggling breaths brought the tears Daisuke had been holding back flooding out. The droplets burned over his cheeks, and dripped from his chin onto Satoshi’s fluttering eyelids. The Black Wings cried out again behind him, and soon Daisuke couldn’t see even the icy blue of Satoshi’s hair through his own burning and swollen eyes.
He’d known Satoshi’s death would hit him hard- Satoshi had informed him of the Hikari family’s shortened lifespan months (felt like decades) ago, and even then Daisuke had been crushed. But then he’d had hope-he’d believed they had time to figure it out. Nothing could have prepared him for how truly devastated and unprepared he felt now. Dark gone-perhaps forever-merged with Krad back into the Black Wings. And Satoshi, whom Daisuke had truly and sincerely thought he and Dark would be able to save, was dying in his arms as Daisuke did nothing.
Knowing there was some way to transfer his life to Satoshi’s, knowing there was some way to save Satoshi....but also knowing that he couldn’t. It felt as though the fire and the ice that had been fighting in his veins had split them-split him- in half, and the edges were crumbling into a great abyss.
Freederts words-one of her last gifts to him-felt like a curse at that moment.
The screams of the Black Wings-of Dark, grew even louder behind him, and Daisuke wished Dark would take over, and save them like he always had. He’d saved Riku, and Risa, Towa.....
Towa!!!!!! Daisuke’s heart pounded in his chest as he remembered. She’d been almost completely drained of her energy when Dark saved her, and to the Hikari artworks, their energy was their time. Dark had managed take some of-but not all of-his and Daisuke’s energy and transfer it to Towa. Slowly at first, the pieces of the puzzle came together faster and faster as it revealed the solution in his mind.
It wasn’t quite the same, but maybe that was the solution. Freedert had given all of her remaining life to Elliot. The Second Hand of Time had fused with her to extend Freedert’s life until she could meet Elliot again. Daisuke had connected with them through his paintings, and further prolonged their life. Dark had given energy directly to Towa.
Daisuke’s dulled ruby eyes reignited with new determination, and the tears stopped. Hope chased the ice and the flames from his veins, and sticked his broken halves together. Daisuke could do it!!!!
Daisuke closed his eyes and one by one, moment by fearful moment, blocked out everything distracting him. He blocked out the cries of the Black Wings, the pulse of Satoshi’s veins, the faint sound of his wheezing breath, the feel of Daisuke’s own bruises and aching bones, and focused on recalling what it’d felt like when Dark had given his energy to Towa, and when Daisuke had prolonged Freedert’s life. He recalled the vague feeling of that connection with them-and he pulled on his connection with Dark, who Daisuke had been connected to in a similar way Freedert and her protector, the Second Hand of Time, had been connected.
As the world faded away he searched for those feelings-trying to find the common ground between the feeling of his energy and the life sharing connection with Dark. After what felt like hours but could have been only seconds, he found it. The commonality.
Daisuke gently cradled Satoshi’s face, and pulled on that feeling. As Dark had done with Towa, and as Satoshi himself had in a way attempted to do to save Daisuke multiple times before, Daisuke leaned his face over Satoshi’s, and then desperately, but still oh so gently, placed his lips on Satoshi’s. Daisuke felt Satoshi’s breath caress the inside of his mouth as he breathed into Satoshi, threading his energy and his very life through the desperate kiss of life. Daisuke let his life flow through their shared lips until he felt as though it was enough, and then exhaustedly parted their chapped lips.
Daisuke’s breath was laboured-la lack of breath from the length of the kiss or from anticipation he had no idea- as he searched Satoshi’s face for any signs of recovery. After a few more unbearable moments, Satoshi’s breathing eased and his eyes began to flutter as consciousness returned. Daisuke marveled at their icy brilliance as Satoshi's eyes eventually came to focus on him, and a different kind of tear filled Daisuke’s eyes. Absently, he noticed that the cries of the Dark Wings had ceased.
“Niwa...? Wha...” exhausted, it seemed to take all Satoshi had to get even just those two words out of his mouth.
Daisuke didn’t feel like he was any better off. He found himself unconcerned when his happy tears began to leave tracks on Satoshi’s now relatively rosy cheeks, likely freaking out the other boy. He pulled Satoshi into a hug. Daisuke’s gentle tears began to flow down his cheeks in streams as he transitioned into a full sob as what had happened - what he’d sacrificed and the relief of Satoshi’s unlaboured breath- hit him fully.
“Satoshi.....you’re okay.” The words came out of his mouth raspy and ragged. He felt hesitant hands close around his back as Satoshi shifted and gave himself fully into the hug. Daisuke didn’t know if Satoshi was trying to reassure Daisuke, or himself in doing so, but he appreciated the gesture all the same. After a brief period in which Satoshi kept his head up and faced fully behind Daisuke, Satoshi buried himself into Daisuke’s shoulder, which began to feel wet as Satoshi likely let loose a few quiet and uncharacteristic tears of his own.
The sound of teary but easy breaths and the sound of Satoshi’s strong and steady heartbeat was like music to Daisuke’s ears as the warmth of their huddled bodies began to calm them down and added strength to their veins, eventually bringing both their tears to a stop.
“Daisuke.” * Satoshi, much stronger now, broke the hug apart and grabbed Daisuke by the shoulders, forcing Daisuke to look him directly in the eye.
“What happened?” He questioned.
Daisuke raised up a nervous hand to scratch behind his head. He didn’t really know how to explain to his friend that Daisuke had given up some of his own life to him. Or that his father was dead.
“Umm...” Daisuke dropped his head down to gaze at the ground, unwilling to answer.
“Daisuke.” Satoshi’s voice was firm and demanding. He gave Daisuke’s shoulders a gentle shake. “I - I’m not supposed to still be ali-here. What did you do?” Despite the harshness of his tone, Daisuke heard a whiff of concern laced in his words.
Ah. Satoshi was worried Daisuke had done something stupid. Again.
Daisuke raised his eyes to meet Satoshi’s.
“I didn’t do anything either of us will regret.” It was the only answer Daisuke was willing to give at the moment. He didn’t think Satoshi would take the whole “gave half my life for yours” bit very well. Satoshi had always thought lowly of himself, and valued the lives of others over himself.
Daisuke had time to work on that now. To show Satoshi that his life wasn’t worth any less than anyone else's, now that he had a life to live.
Daisuke blinked.
“Wait a second...did you just call me Daisuke?” And no honorific? At their still close proximity, Daisuke noticed a faint pink twinge to Satoshi’s cheeks. Satoshi seemed to have trouble meeting Daisuke’s gaze as he answered.
“Sorry, Niwa. Earlier, I thought....nevermind.”
Daisuke thought about it for a second, then shook his head. “I don’t mind....if you want to call me Daisuke...Satoshi.” Daisuke felt himself turn bright red. This was the first time in a long time he’d given someone permission to call him by his first name-and without honorifics! His girlfriend didn’t even call him by his first name! And not to mention his mom would be absolutely horrified.
Somehow, that thought was comforting.
Daisuke noticed a small smile slip onto Satoshi’s face, before it was hidden behind Satoshi’s emotionless mask. Satoshi studied him for a few seconds, then let out a frustrated sigh, brining a hand up to his temple as if he had a headache.
“I trust you, Daisuke. So long as whatever you did worked without harming you, I’ll let it drop. For now.”
Daisuke’s cheeks stretched into a smile so wide he felt as though his face might split.
“Thank you, Satoshi. I’ll tell you one day.” When you’re ready to hear it. He got a nod in response.
“Oh! Right!” Daisuke jumped up, surprising Satoshi, who fell backwards.
“The Black Wings!!” Daisuke looked around wildly, trying to find them. Currently hyper aware of everything Satoshi did, Daisuke noticed out of the corner of his eye Satoshi stand up and follow suit. Satoshi hesitated as his eyes spotted something behind Daisuke, before he continued searching. Finished with searching in front, Daisuke turned, and he spotted Hiwatari’s lifeless body on the floor. He quickly tore his eyes away, trying to ignore the sight. There was no sign of the Black Wings.
Daisuke frowned, trying to remember what happened to them. He’d watched them stop Hiwatari and then...he’d heard screaming. The screaming had stopped, at some point, but when...?
“Daisuke.” Satoshi’s voice from behind broke his thoughts. Footsteps echoed from where Satoshi’s voice had come from as Daisuke turned back around. Satoshi was approaching the painting the Black Wings had once been a part of. He quickly caught up to Satoshi, and they both stopped mere feet in front of the paining to stare.
It looked different than the quick glimpse Daisuke had gotten of it earlier- it had looked empty and broken. Now though...it was the most stunning painting Daisuke had ever seen. It looked...complete. Complete and happy.
“Is that...?”
“I think so. It looks like whatever happened...they found their balance.”
It was years before Daisuke felt confident enough in Satoshi’s confidence to tell him what he had shared with Satoshi that day. He was sure Satoshi had figured it out some time along the way, but it was only right he share the tale with him
As he told the story Satoshi sat there, quietly. Daisuke spotted no anger, no sadness on Satoshi’s, just a resigned acceptance. Once he’d finished, instead of yelling, sighing, or closing off like he would have years ago, Satoshi simply smiled and said:
“Thank you, Daisuke. You were the first person to truly make me happy, and you showed me how to live. You gave me half your life, so it’s only right that I share half of mine.”
Many years later, a tale was told in the town of Azumano. A tale of the two who worked together to break a curse, a tale of giving instead of sacrifice, a tale that spoke of such closeness that the two it spoke of died at the exact same time. It is said that the graves of the two exemplify the balance they found between death and life, and left between them a sign for anyone else seeking to save someone.
“Half of my life...and half of yours.”

The End.
NOTES
*It’s implied in Stage 4 volume 15 that Hiwatari had been around since the time of the Hikari ancestor as we see a cloaked figure who looks like him whispering things to the Hikari. Then we get a shot of his hand, which is all wrinkled. For me, someone who seems immortal + family of people who die early + previous examples were time has been shared between people = immortal has been stealing the time from the family, which grants them an early death.
*So i’d just like to point out that though I generally used the official translation, in the original Japanese and many unofficial translations, Daisuke always calls Satoshi “Hiwatari-kun” and Satoshi calls him “Niwa”(no honorific). The switching from Niwa to Daisuke after Daisuke actually calls Satoshi Satoshi isn’t a mistake. It’s meant to indicate that he noticed Daisuke’s slip up and feels comfortable enough to reciprocate. Though FYI Daisuke totally didn’t actually notice that either of them had switched to first names right then. He’s oblivious like that XD.
Also I’d apologize for making Satoshi cry, as it seems a bit out of character, but, hormones and stuff are powerful things and honestly he was expecting to be dead or wake up in a hospital. Instead he wakes up confused to Daisuke crying all over him and to the sight of the completed Black Wings + his dead father in the background. He’s smart enough to realize that given the relieved but teary look on Daisuke’s face that something saved him (though he’s probably not getting his hopes up on being cured for life), which, honestly, is a huge relief. He’s gonna be a little off...
And you can read into the last bit however you want. Yeah, they didn’t live till like 80 or anything, but it seems like Daisuke’s family is pretty long lived so he would have lived till around 90 or maybe even higher. So they both lived to at least 45. A bit young, but long enough to live a full life and something neither of them regretted because the years were spent together. They died at the same second :)
Honestly this started out as a little joke theory of mine- that the reason Satoshi was never able to give Daisuke the “kiss of life” because Daisuke was meant to give him it, and then I remembered the promise with Freedert and the stuff with Towa and thus, this was born. Do I think it could happen? Yes. Do I want it to happen? Also yes. Do I think it’s for sure going to happen? Honestly....probably not. Likely the promise with Freedert will end up referring to how Daisuke sharing his life with Dark, and it will be one of the things that spark him from giving Dark up.
But, it’s still fun to imagine this possibility! XD. Also I do think they will share a “kiss” between them. But it’ll either be an accident or a drowning incident. I mean it’s happened twice now so third time’s the charm, right? XD
And you know what....1001 Knights did end up with a gay pairing so even if Daisuke never returns Satoshi’s feelings, I’m pretty certain that Satoshi does have romantic feelings for Daisuke. And Satoshi is such a sad but so kind soul that if Daisuke makes him happy then gosh darn it he better get together with Daisuke.

☯ Fighting Duo! :0
send me ‘☯ + a scene from my characters canon’ and i will drabble it from my character’s POV.
The end was near.
All these fights, the weeks of defending Densan City, of defending the Earth against the Asteroids - all lead to this final battle. The last boss was standing there, too many meters above the ground, towering above the CrossFusion Members. Regal’s dead corpse laid between them, a reminder of the fate that awaited the whole squad, should them stand up to Duo.
And behind the giant Navi, the void. The Earth used to be there.
Dingo wanted to scream and shout, but he felt Tomahawkman hold him back. There was no longer a planet for the move to revolve around, no longer a home for him to come back to. Shanka, Maha, Dekao … Everyone was gone, except for the CrossFusion team.
They were humanity’s last hope. The entire weight of humankind rested on their shoulders.
Duo’s voice filled the void once more, but nobody dared to move. Standing at the back of the group, CF Tomahawkman spared a second to observe his teammates. Some looked shocked, others looked outright desperate, but they all knew that any kind of action was pointless. Duo had just wiped out the entire planet - what could an operator and their Navi do against that kind of monster ?
Dingo couldn’t process any of what Duo said. Technology, evolution, mistakes … Elimination. None of it made any sense to him. All he knew was that his friends were dead, and that his entire planet had disappeared into pixel dust.
Don’t do anything stupid, Dingo. We need to move as a group ! Tomahawkman reminded his operator, when he felt Dingo try to step forward. Just as he spoke to his operator’s ears, a silhouette leapt into the sky.
CF Colonel was the first - and only - of the CrossFusion team to try and stand up to Duo. Was he braver than the rest of the team ? Or did he realize that they had nothing left to lose, aside from their own lives ?
His attempt was in vain. CF Colonel was sent flying to the ground in a flash of light, and the rest of the group shared a single gasp. They all realized it now : if they didn’t stand up to this gigantic alien, no one else would.
“Let’s fight, everyone !” Netto’s voice boomed, resonating deep within the hearts and cores of each of his comrades.
Nobody needed any orders, any explanations. CF Tomahawkman took a spot in line, his axe firmly brandished, ready to attack as soon as everyone else was ready. Dingo and Tomahawkman believed that with CrossFusion, they had discovered the true meaning of teamwork ; but now that they stood alongside the rest of the team, with the fate of humankind in their hands, they truly realized how important it was for humans and Navis to have each other’s backs.
Resolve filled CF Tomahawkman’s eyes. He tightened his grip around his axe, his gaze set dead on the enemy. Duo might be a gigantic Navi from outer space, but surely, there had to be a way to beat him ! There was nothing this axe couldn’t slice through-
There was another, blinding flash of light. Everything went black.
Dingo !! Hang in there, Dingo ! Can you hear me ?! Tomahawkman’s yelling voice eventually woke Dingo up. Despite the massive hit they had taken, their CrossFusion hadn’t broken apart.
A warm sensation prickled at Dingo’s hand. Through half-open eyes, he saw his palm light up under CF Tomahawkman’s glove, and witnessed Duo’s crest rise up from his skin. The glowing symbol floated in the air, and faded away along with everyone else’s.
Duo’s trial was over. They had failed.
CF Tomahawkman felt his consciousness slip away again. When the two partners opened their eyes again, they were no longer sharing the same body.
The moment he regained consciousness, Tomahawkman rushed to his operator’s side. He heaved the boy against one of his knees, and immediately checked his pulse. He didn’t even realize that, for the first time in his short life, he was holding his operator in his arms.
Dingo’s eyes twitched under their eyelids, and heavily opened. A very faint smile tugged at Dingo’s lips when he saw the concern on his Navi’s face.
“It’s weird …” Dingo whispered. “Seeing your face for real …”
“Don’t waste your breath …” Tomahawkman sighed. A smile formed at his lips as well, a smile of relief. They had both believed that Duo was going to kill them.
Tomahawkman gently let go of his operator, and let the boy slide to the floor again. He didn’t lose his smile as he got up, and exchanged a glance with the twelve other Navis. This battle wasn’t over yet.
Duo’s offers tore a chuckle from Tomahawkman. After all the destruction, after all the death - after he had directly attacked Dingo, did Duo really believe that they were going to betray their human partners ?
Every Navi had their input, their thoughts on the matter. “If I wasn’t here, who’d take care of Dingo ?” Tomahawkman pointed out, a smirk spreading across his face. Truly, the boy would be lost without him - literally.
Duo didn’t appreciate hearing his offer denied. Tomahawkman’s smile faded into a nervous scowl : this time, Duo was going to pull the trigger for real.
Like hell we’ll let you delete them … Dingo thought to himself. He could feel his heart resonate with those around him, a new surge of hope coursing through the thirteen human souls. Dingo wasn’t going to die with his face against the ground.
“Dingo …!” Tomahawkman called out in stupor as his operator rose to his feet, his arms slightly stretched by his sides.
Dingo had unconsciouly chosen a pose halfway between protection and aggression. He was ready to grab his tomahawk, no matter how puny the weapon was against a giant alien Navi. He was even ready to throw a punch at that gigantic foot ; he’d be happy with even grazing that monster’s armor.
Thirteen humans stood to protect their Navis. Baffled by this act of resistance from an inferior, imperfect species, Duo had no other choice that to eliminate them all.
Dingo and Tomahawkman braced themselves. Surely, this time, the end had come. They would die standing on their feet, resolve carved into their faces. At least Shanka and the rest won’t wait too long, Dingo thought, as he closed his eyes for the last time.
But the end didn’t come.
A shouting voice forced Dingo’s eyes open. Once again, Barrel had stepped forward, this time to offer himself a sacrifice. Dingo had never really understood who this man really was, not did he really understand why his sacrifice would put an end to the war, but it was too late to ask.
A bittersweet taste filled Dingo’s mouth. Even if Duo accepted this deal, and if Barrel really went on with his insane suggestion, it wouldn’t really feel like winning. A twinge of guilt tugged at his heart, powerlessness made him clench his fists. It was unfair, to let Barrel and Colonel shoulder the entire weight of mankind - to win this battle without even a proper fight.
Dingo heard Netto scream out the man’s name, and saw the duo rise into the dark skies. The deal was sealed.
There was another flash of light, and Duo disappeared. Dingo and Tomahawkman covered their eyes as the sky exploded, and trillions of tiny pixels gathered to recreate the Earth where they were born, and where their loved ones, hopefully, had returned to life.
An invisible hand wrapped around Dingo’s waist, and the landscape around him disappeared. The next thing he knew, he was floating in the air above a pit of bright light, with his eleven comrades around him. He could feel his PET’s weight against his stomach, and hoped that Tomahawkman was there as well.
Dingo was the last to step out of the light, and land safely back on ground. They were greeted by Dr. Hikari and Meijin, unscathed and unaware of the fact that they had just been brought back to life along with 99.99% of humankind.
After checking that Tomahawkman was alive (albeit in sleep mode), Dingo had a glance above his shoulder, then down at the palm of his right hand. Duo would never come to Earth again. They had failed the test, but thanks to Barrel’s sacrifice, humankind was allowed to live on.
One more surprise awaited the group. A vaguely familiar voice rang above their heads, and an even more familiar face appeared on the screen behind them. The sight of Barrel, now an elder, reminded Dingo of the sacrifice that had been necessary in order to save everyone. He felt reassured by the smile on the man’s face - his journey had been a long, but fulfilling one.
The screen went black again, and Dingo felt the rest of the group hold their breaths. They all seemed to realize that, finally, the battle was over.
Dingo’s first thoughts went to Shanka. He would need to visit her as soon as possible, even if it took every single Zenny of his savings.
But even before that … He needed a good plate of MaHa Ichiban curry.
#iiguess#drabble#[[well that took the whole evening to write x) 2 good hours#i'd been thinking about this for nights on end and then got a huge depressive spell over the afternoon#now i've stocked up on inspiration and anger at the very end of Stream's last episode haha]]#Rockman.exe

The fantastic adventures of Takeru Takaishi
Chapter 5: Old foe
Summary: As Sora faces the man responsible for her father's death, Taichi has to decide how far he's willing to go to save his sister.
Before they headed to the mansion, the group stopped close to a huge lonely tree on the field. Underneath it was one of the secret spots where the revolutionaries kept extra guns, in case of emergency. After digging in the dirt and retrieving a chest, Yamato opened its lock with the back of his shotgun. Once the chest was open, Koushiro reached out to get one of the weapons, but Yamato stopped him, reaching his arm to keep Koushiro at a distance. The others, who were surrounding them, observed silently their exchange of gazes.
“Who are you?” Yamato asked Koushiro, coldly.
“I thought we were past introductions at this point,” Koushiro told him, seemingly annoyed.
“I'm not lending you a weapon until I know I can trust you,” Yamato stated.
“Yamato, didn't you see how he was willing to die to help us?” Sora asked.
“He also warned us about the invasion! He saved our camp!” Daisuke pointed out.
“He kind of saved my life without even knowing me...” Ken murmured.
“Just because he's clearly a conman doesn't mean he can't be useful for us,” Miyako gave her opinion. “His fake death trick was really convincing.”
“Besides, we're already letting a henchman of Yamanaka join us. Koushiro couldn't possibly be someone worse or more suspicious than Ken!” Iori commented.
“I'm not a henchman!” Ken protested.
Yamato closed the chest, putting one foot on its lid. He crossed his arms and kept staring at Koushiro, refusing to be distracted by anything.
“Who are you?” Yamato asked again.
Koushiro had a somber look on his face. He closed his eyes for a brief moment and began to say:
“I was just someone trying to help my friend Hikari... I wanted to bring her back to life, and then I made everything worse... not only was I cursed, but I also doomed Taichi, Hikari's brother... my best friend...”
“You were trying to bring someone back from the dead?” Sora asked, softly.
“To be cursed with endless resurrections for trying to resurrect someone is quite the dramatic irony!” Takeru sounded impressed. “Was that how you got the clairvoyance as well?”
“No... that was before... it's not really relevant now...” Koushiro muttered, looking away.
“Is Taichi like you? Does he die and resurrect?” Daisuke asked.
“Taichi is invulnerable,” Koushiro replied. “He's incapable of getting physically hurt. He can't die nor age... and he also believes that if he kills me for good his sister will-”
“Who cursed you?” Yamato interrupted. He observed how Koushiro paled after hearing that question and grew more suspicious. Nevertheless, the other gave him an answer:
“It was a woman with a blue staff... she was guarding a door...”
“What woman? What door? What does that mean?!” Yamato was losing the little patience he still managed to have.
“That's enough, Yamato! Leave Koushiro alone!” Sora reprehended him.
“But he hasn't given us any satisfactory answer!” Yamato protested, turning to Sora. “How can you expect me to trust someone I know nothing about?!”
“You knew nothing about me back when I barged into your farm all those years ago and yet you trusted me right away!” Sora reminded him. “If you can't trust Koushiro yet, then trust my judgement about him.”
Yamato sighed, feeling defeated. For a long time, he had found himself unable to deny a request from Sora. He heard a smirk from his right and saw Takeru smiling maliciously at him.
“Soooo... she barged into your farm, huh?” Takeru teased. “Was it love at first sight? Why did you trust her so quickly?”
Yamato felt blood rushing to his face and stuttered:
“T-That's not r-relevant right now!!!”
“Hey, now that I think about it, I never heard how you and Sora met!” Miyako said.
“Yeah! She just showed up with you one day and told us 'it's a long story!'” Daisuke added.
“Like you were a lost animal she had taken in because of pity,” Iori commented in a serious tone.
“You're kind of a harsh person, aren't you, Iori?” Ken observed.
Iori narrowed his eyes and looked at horizon as he stated:
“Life is harsh.”
Relieved that he no longer was at the center of attention, Koushiro approached Sora. She had been watching Yamato being interrogated with an amused face.
“Thank you for defending me,” Koushiro told her, bowing slightly.
“It's alright!” Sora said. “Don't mind Yamato. He might seem difficult now but once you two get to know each other better you'll be friends in no time.”
Koushiro lowered his head, bearing a depressed look.
“Anyway,” Yamato spoke again, turning to Sora. “We still have to discuss what we're going to do once we reach Yamanaka's place.”
“What is there left to discuss?” Sora asked, giving him a serious look. “We'll kill him.”
“That would be a terrible idea,” Yamato told her. “Remember how the revolutionaries of the Pine Tree Archipelago were villainized after they killed their nobles ten years ago?”
“Don't you think they deserved to be villainized after what they did?” Takeru questioned. “Aside from murdering innocent wealthy people, they're Devil worshipers who dance naked around bonfires and eat children for breakfast! I read all about it on the Imperial Press!”
There were a few seconds of awkward silence. Then, Miyako and Daisuke began to laugh.
“W-What is so funny?” Takeru was confused.
“See?” Yamato talked as if he had proved a point. “That's the kind of imperialistic propaganda they'll use on us if we kill Yamanaka. They'll turn the people against us and the revolution will lose! We can't kill him!”
“Are you suggesting we should let that tyrant live because otherwise people would spread lies about us?” Sora inquired. “I don't know if you noticed it, but we're already villainized! You heard what Ken said about the revolutionaries earlier!”
“Sora, we have to be smart! We can't afford to make mistakes now!” Yamato stated. “If we kill Yamanaka, we'll be risking everything we've ever fought for! The Empire will strike us at full force!”
“Oh, because the Empire hasn't been striking us so far? Is that what you're saying?” Sora retorted. “I suppose all the people we've lost were due to the Empire going easy on us!”
The tension between the two of them was making everybody nervous. Takeru decided that he should do something to bring those two into an agreement. He couldn't refuse an opportunity to use his mastery of oratory for a good cause.
“What if you put Yamanaka through a trial?” Takeru suggested. “You could assemble the revolutionaries and prepare a public trial, in which you'll list his crimes and get testimonies. And you have to make sure everybody on Turtle Island will follow the trial. A talented public speaker could convince the people of his villainy. Also, get someone to be his defender, so people will see that it's a fair trial.”
“That's... actually a good idea...” Yamato murmured, seemingly astonished.
“I have to say, Takeru, that's the smartest thing I've heard from you!” Daisuke praised Takeru, enthusiastically.
“I suppose a trial could have a positive effect for our cause...” Sora muttered.
“I still think we should kill Yamanaka while we have the chance,” Ken said.
“No, a trial would make things more legitimate,” Miyako told him.
“It'd be a way to expose all the bad things he's done,” Daisuke added. “We can't underestimate how many supporters he still has.”
“That way, more people would see Yamanaka as their enemy and not just as the enemy of the revolutionaries!” Iori concluded.
“I guess it's decided, then...” Sora said, looking down.
“It's the right way to do things. Everything will work out,” Yamato promised her.
Sora smiled at him, but there was no joy in her eyes.
*
Daisuke and Miyako tied Yamanaka to a chair while Ken and Iori kept aiming their shotguns at the old man. Sora observed the scene a few steps away, keeping her arms crossed. Although she tried to remain calm, the fury in her eyes was evident. Yamato, who couldn't take his eyes off of her, could only imagine how difficult it was for her to be close to the person responsible for her father's death.
“Why don't we just kill this guy now, anyway?” Ken wondered.
“We're not having that discussion again!” Iori replied. “We must assemble the other revolutionaries and put him through a trial!”
“And what do we do with him before the trial?” Ken asked. “Throw him in jail?”
“You bandits wouldn't dare to incarcerate me!” Yamanaka shouted. “I am a noble! The very rules of the universe dictate that I am a superior man!”
“Oh, be quiet already!” Daisuke ordered while tightening the last knot. “Your reign of terror is over! It's time for you to face all the people you've hurt, Yamanaka!”
The old man's eyes widened in terror when he heard that. But then his scared expression was replaced by one of outrage.
“You wouldn't dare to touch me!” Yamanaka roared. “All the disgraces of the world will befall you if you hurt me in any way!”
Miyako slapped Yamanaka.
“Oh my goodness, look at this!” she said in an exaggerated surprised voice. “I hit a noble man and nothing happened to me at all! It's almost like the so-called divine nature of monarchy is a fraud designed to keep mediocre people in power!”
The look on Yamanaka's face was of someone who had been slapped fifteen times in less than a minute. Meanwhile, Ken looked at Miyako with profound admiration.
“How are you more blasphemous than that damn monk?” Yamanaka asked in a weak voice. “He was spitting some crazy nonsense about the Devil but you, young lady, really outdid him! What are you going to say next? That all humans are equal and deserve equal rights?”
“All humans are equal and they deserve equal rights!” Miyako stated.
“You really are crazier than the monk!” Yamanaka affirmed.
“Stop talking to that man already!” Sora ordered, startling everybody. Even Takeru, who had been observing Koushiro and the monk staring at each other at the garden for a few minutes, turned his attention to Sora.
Yamato looked at her with concern. Sora's body was shaking and her eyes shone with tears she refused to let go. Being in the presence of that man was clearly too much for her.
“Those eyes of yours...” Yamanaka had malice in his voice, “could you possibly be Takenouchi's daughter? Tell me, how much did she like the death I arranged for her husband?”
The fury that Sora had been controlling for so long exploded and she advanced in that man's direction. Yamato put himself in front of her just in time.
“Sora, you can't let him play with you!” Yamato pleaded.
“Right! Sora! That was the name of their daughter!” Yamanaka laughed. “My men told me that your father died crying both your name and your mother's! I wish I had been there to watch, it must've been tremendously entertaining!”
“Shut up!” Sora shouted. She wanted to hit Yamanaka with all the pain she had borne for years, all the heartbreak that he had caused. But Yamato wouldn't let her do it. No matter how much she tried to evade him, Yamato continued to block her path.
“Get out of my way! Why are you protecting him?!” Sora inquired.
“I'm protecting you, Sora!” Yamato answered. “Don't fall for his mind games! You have to be strong!”
“I'm tired of being strong!” Sora cried, at last letting the tears she had been holding back flow. “I'm so tired! He has to pay for what he did!”
“He will! I promise you that!” Yamato assured her.
He gently wrapped his arms around Sora. She hugged him back and buried her face on Yamato's shoulder.
“Pathetic!” Yamanaka mocked.
Miyako hit his head with the back of her shotgun, which made the old man lose consciousness. That action made Ken's admiration for her grow even more.
“I'm going to go get Leader and the other revolutionaries,” Miyako announced. “I'll be back soon, unless I get hit by divine punishment.”
“I'll go with you,” Daisuke offered.
“Thank you...” Sora said, letting go of Yamato. She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and showed the others a small smile. “Let's do things properly and bring justice to my father and every other person wronged by Yamanaka.”
They all nodded.
“Hold on, what happened there while I wasn't looking?!” Takeru suddenly shouted, pointing at the garden. Taichi had pinned Koushiro against the grass and crossed the redhead's heart with his sword. A puddle of blood was forming around them.
*
Taichi was expecting Koushiro to give his usual excuses, like he always did.
The redhead's lies had long lost the ability of deceiving Taichi. Nevertheless, Koushiro always insisted that he wasn't the villain Justine had made of him.
However, Koushiro also never denied trying to rescue Hikari's soul. Nor did he deny that she was sent to Hell because of him. Those facts alone were more than enough to prove his guilt. So what if Koushiro had good intentions? His excuses wouldn't save Hikari. Only the purging of his soul would.
Taichi never enjoyed taking his friend's life. Because of that, Taichi always tried to do it as quickly and painless as possible, always hoping that Koushiro had finally died enough times. But he kept coming back, asking Taichi to trust him... promising that he could still save Hikari but couldn't tell him how. Taichi could only wonder if his friend would ever get tired of repeating those lies.
Judging by his current silence, Koushiro seemed to be done with the lies at last.
“Have you finally given up?” Taichi asked, slowly approaching the other.
“Never,” Koushiro replied.
“Are you going to fight me, then?” Taichi inquired.
Koushiro put the shotgun on the grass and kicked it to his left, out of his reach.
Taichi was a few steps away from him, close enough for the tip of his sword to touch Koushiro's chest. Koushiro didn't flinch.
“When I kill you this time... please, don't come back...” Taichi pleaded. “She told me that you just need to yield. Just say that you've learned your lesson and this will all stop. Our souls will be able to be at peace. Hikari will go back to Heaven and we all will be together again. Don't you want that? Give up now! Let me save you!”
Koushiro gave him a serene look, as if Taichi's words weren't affecting him at all. Could he really be that heartless?
“Hikari told me that she wanted to leave Turtle Island and see the world,” Koushiro said.
“Enough with that story!” Taichi roared. “Hikari was happy on Turtle Island! The three of us were happy together! She would never say such a thing!”
“To you, she wouldn't,” Koushiro let him know. “She was always trying to protect you. Even in her deathbed...”
“How many times do I have to tell you the truth until you get it?!” Taichi was losing his patience. “Hikari had accepted her death! She accepted that she was sick and nobody could do anything about it! But you...” Taichi pierced the other's chest with the sword, “... you just had to play the savior, didn't you?! You went there and played with forces you didn't understand and because of that my sister is in Hell and I am a monster!”
Taichi sunk his sword in Koushiro's chest. Not satisfied, he plunged his body to the grass. Koushiro kept looking at him, not breaking eye contact even once, no matter how much pain he was feeling. Taichi kept pushing the sword, until its hilt was touching Koushiro's body. Its blade was nailing him to the ground. At that moment, Taichi was kneeling by his side, watching as life faded from his eyes like he had done so many times before. Once Koushiro took his last breath, Taichi closed his friend's eyes.
And then, the sword was forcefully pulled out of Koushiro's body by an unknown force and launched into the sky in such high speed that Taichi lost sight of it. The wound in Koushiro's chest rapidly closed. In a matter of seconds, the redhead opened his eyes and stood up again.
“You had never come back this fast before...” Taichi muttered, in shock.
Koushiro had an exhausted look on his face. He took a step forward and nearly fell, but was able to stay on his feet.
“I don't think I can afford to take breaks anymore...” Koushiro murmured. “You can kill me a thousand times... one billion times... and I'll return right away...”
“Stop it!” Taichi ordered. “Don't you understand that I'm trying to save your soul?”
“Even if you were to break my resistance, that woman wouldn't bring Hikari back...” Koushiro told him. “When will you understand that she sees you only as a tool to use against me?”
“Quiet!” Taichi shouted, grabbing Koushiro by the arms and pulling him closer. “How is it possible that after everything I've done, after all the times I've killed your body, you continue to be as blasphemous as you were back then? What will it take to make you yield?”
“I promised Hikari...” Koushiro said; his voice was so weak it was barely audible. “I can't stop... I can't stop now...”
At that moment, a distant memory resurged in Taichi's mind. In the room where he had been watching over his sister's body, Justine appeared before him. She told him what Koushiro had done and what he, Taichi, had to do. He could hear those words again, almost as if she was muttering them in his ear.
“Angel of Death, I give you wings made of holy fire. They will protect your body from everything and purify anything they touch.”
For all those centuries, Taichi had refused to resort to that. To submit Koushiro to that kind of death would be unforgivable. But what other choice did he have? If Koushiro wasn't broken by the countless deaths he had gone through, that one had to work.
Taichi summoned his wings.
They were six at total. Each one of them had two to three meters of wingspan and were made of orange flames.
With one flap of them, Taichi took flight with Koushiro, rising several meters into the air.
“Yield!” Taichi ordered.
Koushiro didn't say anything. He stared at the fire with eyes filled with horror. Taichi could feel his friend's body tremble, despite the heat emanating from his wings. Koushiro couldn't resist that, he just couldn't! He had to give up!
“I know you don't want to die like them,” Taichi told him. “I don't want to put you through that, so, please, just yield! Koushiro, I'm begging you... please, don't make me do this...”
Koushiro began to shed tears. It had been a long time since Taichi had seen him crying.
*
It had been a couple of months since Taichi and Hikari had rescued him from the sea. Koushiro barely talked to anyone and seemed to be scared all the time. They didn't really know anything about him.
Koushiro had said that he was from Shrimp Island, but gave no explanation about how he got to the middle of the sea. When asked if he had family, Koushiro looked down and muttered “not anymore.”
Taichi tried everything he could imagine to cheer the other boy up and make him talk more, with no effect.
During an afternoon when the siblings were spending time with Koushiro, who was brushing the Izumis' horses, Hikari said something that shocked both boys:
“I dreamed with your parents last night.”
Koushiro stared at her, astonished.
“Hikari, you shouldn't joke about that kind of thing!” Taichi scolded her.
“I'm not joking!” Hikari retorted. She then turned to Koushiro and continued “Their names were Ame and Shunsui, right? You really look like them, especially your mother. Her red hair was very beautiful...”
“How do you...?” Koushiro began to question.
“They asked me to tell you that you shouldn't feel guilty for running. They didn't want you to die with them... they didn't want you to burn...”
*
Those tears were just like the first ones Taichi had seen Koushiro shed. At that moment, Taichi realized he couldn't do that to his friend. Even though he was determined to save Hikari, that was a line he wasn't able to cross.
Then, Taichi felt something strange, a piercing sensation that seemed to set his nerves on fire. The sword that had been launched to the sky had fallen back. It made a hole in one of Taichi's wings and crossed his right arm.
The pain and the shock made him let go of Koushiro, who fell towards the garden. It should be impossible for Taichi to get hurt. But then, he noticed something else that was even more disturbing. There was a weak blue hue coming from the sword. He had only seen a hue like that once.
Taichi flew away. There was only one person who could give him answers.
“He's dead... he's actually dead this time... it's not a trick...” Miyako murmured, horrified, looking at Koushiro's body lying on the crater created by his fall.
“Don't worry, he's going to be okay!” Daisuke assured her. “How many times have we seen him resurrect today?”
“This isn't like one of his fake deaths, Daisuke! He fell from a really high place!” Miyako yelled. “He must've broken all his bones and his organs... I don't even want to think about his organs!”
“Miyako, you're the only one who still thinks he wasn't dying for real before,” Iori said.
“How can you deny Koushiro's supernatural nature after we just saw...” Takeru took a deep breath before continuing “... an invulnerable monk with wings of fire! How amazing was that? That man has to be on the cover of my book!”
Yamato kept observing Koushiro, waiting for him to come back to life like he had done before. He was getting apprehensive at how much it was taking for the other to resurrect.
*
Once again Koushiro found himself in that dark place. The cold wind whipping his face felt as painful as all the other times.
“I can't waste time here... I can't... I have to go back... I finally found Miss Sora...” he repeated to himself, trying to walk against the wind, “I can't stop now... I can't stop... I'm so tired... so tired... no, I can't take a break... I can't stop... Hikari... I can't stop...”
Then, he saw something he had never spotted at that place before. It seemed like a bar of flickering blue light floating a few steps in his front. The shape and the color of it reminded Koushiro of the staff used by that woman to curse him. Koushiro took a step in the direction of the light bar and stretched his arm, but a familiar voice made him stop.
“Don't touch that! It'll break your soul!”
He turned around and saw Hikari surrounded by pink light. She was wearing the white kimono she had when she passed away.
“You have more important things to do than coming to my rescue every time I get stuck in one of these...” Koushiro muttered, looking away. “I'd find my way out eventually...”
“You said that last time, and it took you 52 years,” Hikari said, giggling. “There's nothing to be embarrassed about, I help people in your situation all the time. Escaping Hells is my specialty.”
She approached him and offered him a hand. After Koushiro held it, he felt Hikari's warmth fill his soul. Almost instantaneously, the dark space was replaced by a flower field. The morning sun gave him a peaceful sensation. As he looked down, he noticed that there were no blood stains on his skin nor on the clothes Yamato had lent him earlier that day.
“Do you want to rest for a while?” Hikari asked.
“It's too easy to lose track of time here, and I can't afford it anymore, I finally found Miss Sora!” Koushiro replied. “We're so close now, closer than we've ever been... I can finally be more of help to you!”
“Don't burden yourself too much, we have many allies helping us,” Hikari told him.
“You have many allies helping you here... on my side, I'm alone...” Koushiro reminded her.
“Not anymore! You've found Sora! You've been waiting for her for so long, and finally you're with her! And her friends seem like good people,” Hikari said.
Koushiro frowned, thinking about how Yamato was still suspicious of him. There was no doubt in his mind that he would inevitably be betrayed by that man down the road.
“I know how hard it is for you to trust people after everything you've been through,” Hikari acknowledged. “But not everybody you befriend will turn against you. Trust me on this.”
“You're not the one who has clairvoyance...” Koushiro commented.
“My intuition is just as good as that,” Hikari affirmed, smiling.
He smiled as well.
“I need to go back...” Koushiro said. “I need to help Miss Sora get to where she has to be... I can't risk the plan by getting separated from her. And Taichi... I have to find a way to save Taichi...”
“We will find a way to save him,” Hikari assured Koushiro. “Don't burden yourself! There's nothing wrong in asking for help, you know?”
Koushiro didn't say anything. He let go of Hikari's hand, closed his eyes and felt himself fall. When he reopened his eyes, he found Sora, Miyako, Daisuke, Iori and Ken surrounding him. They all had relieved faces, but Miyako also seemed perplexed.
“You really can return from death...” Miyako muttered. “Are you... an actual demon?”
“I'm not a demon,” Koushiro replied.
As he sat up, he thought to himself:
As a matter of fact, I am the Devil.

“The Namekian Dragon... So King Kai used the Dragon Balls...” Goku spoke seeing Porunga from afar. He then turns to Hikari. “I don’t know much about you, but thanks for your help again. Let me be the one to finish Frieza.” He said as Hikari was taken back to the Time Nest. “It’s all over, Saiyan!” Frieza shouted as they clashed again. Frieza tried a Death Slicer but Goku dodges making the white alien be cut in half. He pleaded Goku to spare him, having him give some of his energy.
Enraged, Frieza tried to make Goku die “by [his] hand” and Goku fires an energy wave, killing Frieza. He tried to use Frieza’s Spaceship to get away from the exploding Namek, but it doesn’t start. Acting fast, he used one of the Ginyu Force’s ships to escape.
Back at the Time Nest...
“Goku always refuses our help. It’s just the way he is.” Trunks said about how he handled Frieza on his own. “But it’s okay though. Goku won and escaped Namek. And finally, the scroll is back to normal. Still... I’m really glad Towa and Mira didn’t interfere.” He stated. “Didn’t they say they’ll kill anyone who’ll stand in their way?” Chronoa asked. “Who knows? Maybe it’s just a whim.” Trunks stated.
“Perhaps, perhaps... But anyway, good job, the both of you.” Chronoa said. “And Hikari, I like to speak with you alone... It’s about Trunks.” She whispered.

History is changing. Something has begun changing the events of the flow of time. Changing the outcomes of different historical events. Those that set in stone what is to come next and help the future.
But something has caused it to change. Something or someone is changing the events of many of these historical events. To the point, that it is beginning to effect the future. And all those within in.
To stop this, the Dragon Balls have been brought together. To help summon a warrior to help stop this. To help save the timeline. Before it collapses and destroys everything.
A bright light emerged high in the sky before it begins to descend to the ground. The light disappears and a figure emerges from the light. The figure appears to be a young woman in her early 20s, with short black hair, small whiskers on her cheeks, green eyes, light tan skin, & a scar down her left eye. She also appears to be wearing a short-sleeved dark green shirt, dark pants with a belt that has four pouches, gloves with metal guard on the top hand, a vest with a hood, boots, and around her belt is a headband with a symbol in the middle.
“Um hello? Is someone there?” she asked looking rather confused and knew she isn’t in her home anymore. “Toshiro? Sora?…God? Am I dead? Oh crap did I die?!” she begins to panic as she tries to figure out where’s she’s at.
It was then her eyes widen in shock. “Wait…oh fuck don’t tell me I went to the other place! I didn’t do anything evil at all. So, why am I in…” she then looks up above to see a large green scaled dragon. “Is that a freaking dragon?!”
The dragon soon vanished as seven glowing balls begin to float up high in the sky, before they all scattered and disappeared as well. The sky soon begins to brighten again as the girl looks on confused.
“Um okay…I get the feeling this isn’t heaven or hell…so, where the fuck am I?”

...oh...wow, you guys I just noticed this.
I just...wow.
About a year ago I started this blog with the intent of practicing writing for a story featuring Clark as the main character. During this time, I learned a lot of things:
I learned how to trim fluff writing for my posts.
I learned that talking to your RP partners shouldn’t be something you’re afraid to do mid-RP.
I learned that I shouldn’t be so conscious about posting my face for Mundays (which I swear I’ll try posting more often for).
I learned that posting Musings is actually a very good way to get the creative juices flowing.
I learned that it’s OK to be bummed when I hit a dry spell of activity, and that no lack of activity lasts forever.
Most of all though, I learned that...you guys are really amazing.
I know that probably 10% of the blogs that follow me are dormant, and I know that 500 of my posts aren’t dedicated to strict RPs, but...idk guys I just feel grateful to have made an impact here.
A long time ago on Tumblr I tried making an ask blog with a similar premise and it bombed. It didn’t help that I was a huge dork at the time, with NO idea on how to socialize since, most of my socializing online was with very close friends and I didn’t know how to dial it back for people I was just meeting (needless to say I was socially clueless).
But now I feel like I’ve grown as a person, at least a little, and the fact that...well idk how else to put it, the fact that you cared enough to follow me and interact with me...
I’m really grateful.
I don’t plan on stopping this blog anytime soon, nor do I feel like I have a reason to. Even when I finish Clark’s story I’ve enjoyed this blog too much to let it go.
I’m really sorry if this sounds super sappy, right now I’m in a “do or die” scenario this semester at college (TLDR, vague instructions, grades are up in the air, if I don’t pass my grandma flies to see me graduate nothing, big mood amirite?), and this news put me in such a good mood. In fact, I’m shouting out to all the mutuals I’ve RP’d with so far, because you guys deserve it:
@stinging-redemptixn-deactivated - I REALLY wish I knew what your main blog was cuz no lie you really helped me out confidence wise when it came to public RPing, even if we only planned an RP, I really look forward to when you have the time so we can get it off the ground, you’re an awesome person and I hope everything’s A-OK in your life right now!
@spears-specials/ @i-always-watch - Dude, plotting out Clark and Takuma’s first encounter (hopefully the first of more to come lol) was insanely fun. I really appreciated how much you liked my ideas and how fun it was chatting with you, we need to talk more man! lol
@moonlightsn / @omgderpington - I legitimately love how much care you put into your muse’s backstory, and hearing about stuff you like (Like F13) is really engaging! I really do appreciate the time we RP’d together and hope we can continue whenever you’re free.
@master-glass - I know you’re AFK from tumblr rn but dude you’re the fuckin’ best, I love having you as a friend in general.
@bubblemom - Sweet, fun, creative as hell, idk what to say you’re legit one of the nicest people I’ve seen on tumblr and you don’t deserve bad days. IDK if Clark and Caesar will ever interact again but regardless It’s just a huge pleasure knowing you just, for real, thanks a lot. =D
@stillwouldhavesavedyou - Your Bruce is SERIOUSLY one of my favorites of all time man. And hey as a person you’re really cool, you’re easy to talk to and fun to plot out stuff with. I appreciate you taking a random guy during an Open Starter and running with it, you actually inspired some big ideas I had for Clark, seriously man, thank you!
@darkestxsidexofxthexmoon - We didn’t RP much, but for real, I loved the concept of your muse and his stand, and did enjoy what we did RP. IDK what else to say you seem like a real cool person. =)
@on-crimson-wings - You had me hooked at “Raven’s Bizarre Hiking Adventures”. XD Made even better that Raven herself is an amazing character, and I really enjoy her and Clark’s interactions with each other! And hey, takes an amazing person to write an amazing character, I need to answer more of your memes I feel baaad. Just, thanks for existing (oh and for Finnigan haha).
@moonlitocs - OK so technically we haven’t RP’d yet but it wouldn’t feel right NOT mentioning you here. I appreciate how smooth plotting went for our characters meeting, you have a lot of great ideas! And honestly, it meant a lot that you wanted to RP with me, considering how small this blog was compared to most JJBA blogs at the time.
@askpredator / @purplepimpryda (IDK why it’s not mentioning you apologies, tumblr is dumb sometimes) - Shadow is an GREAT muse, and the I really like not only the interactions he and Clark had, but your writing style in general when describing his side of the RP. You inspired me to be more flexible when it came to how he crossed over with other muses, and inspired me to watch a legitimately good action/thriller film lol While Shadow’s on indefinite hiatus, I wish you the best in life and your other blog w/ your other muse. =D
@pressurecooked - I legit love Mio as a character and was so endeared by her most recent post. She’s someone I’m so excited to learn more about, and I feel bad cuz I wanna interact with your muse memes but her and Clark barely said a word to each other directly so it’s up in the air what their relationship is like ugh idk I just really like where this RP is headed and excited to see where it DOES lead.
@foxglcved - You are a cool person. While Clark and Hikari really haven’t had any substantial interactions, you’re just a real friendly and legit nice person that I feel honored you followed me considering how well-written your muse is. Seriously, super-creative, super entertaining, I look forward to RPing with you in the future. Seriously you’re super cool.
Honestly I just really just appreciate the time you’ve given me and appreciate how far I’ve come as not just an RPer but as a writer. Writing is my passion in life and I’m only able to practice my craft thanks to people like you. Again maybe i’m just in a very sappy mood but, for what it’s worth.
Thank you guys, I couldn’t ask for better mutuals.

Children of the Future:
Chapter 28: Battling Botis
Hi guys! Here’s chapter 28, there’s some revelations in this chapter as well as the battle with Botis. I’m not too good at fight scenes so that’s why its a bit vague but I still hope you all enjoy 🥰!
Taglist: @eme-eleff @thoughtfullyrainynightmare @simpingforthisonedeer @crazyclownthanos @flow3rbudz @luminouslion @bowandcurtsey @elysianluv @vwdxwnsk (if anyone else wants to be tagged please let me know!)
Word Count: 2,157
Warnings: Violence and Language
———
Yami, Hikari, and Charlotte stared wide eyed at Botis. A devil was behind all of this? When they thought about it, it wasn’t that surprising. But after the battle with the Dark Triad, the Magic Knights had gone after any devils that remained in Clover and they believed that they had gotten them all.
But that didn’t seem to be the case.
“ What? Cat got your tongues or something?” Botis asked lazily as he watched the three, Yamu shook his head.
“ Not really. I just decided that you’re not worth wasting my breath on.” Yami said casually, Botis gave a small chuckle.
“ I see. You said the same thing before when we met for the first time.” Botis said before giving a small smirk. “ And those words just so happened to be your last.”
Yami glanced at Charlotte and Hikari out of the corner of his eye, he could tell it was taking everything they had not to fall for his provocations. But he just shrugged it off, as William had said before, they were all going to die at some point. But this time he was for damn sure he wasn’t going to die at the hands of this low life. Suddenly the devil turned his attention towards Charlotte.
“ And you, well, you didn’t really say much. You just cried and wailed like a child as I took your husband and children away.” He told the woman as his smirk widened, Charlotte was shaking from anger at his words. She glanced over at Yami, he was giving her the ‘calm down’ look, but she was reaching her limit.
The two noticed Botis wasn’t looking at or mentioning Hikari, which caused them to turn and their eyes widened.
The white viper that had been beside the devil, was now wrapping itself around the dark haired girl. It then moved its head up towards her ear.
“ And meanwhile you,” the snake spoke. “ Well, you just left them here to die, didn't you? You abandoned them in order to save yourself, to go off with your friends.” The snake provoked, Hikari slowly shook her head, her eyes full of tears.
“ No…No I didn’t…” She trailed off, her voice soft, Yami and Charlotte began to shout at the girl. Telling her to ignore it, that what it was saying wasn’t true, but it was as though she were in a trance.
When the viper began to speak again, its voice had changed.
“ Big sis,” the Viper said, causing Hikari’s eyes to widen. It was Hana’s voice. “ why did you leave me? You should have taken me and Einar with you, but instead you left me behind and to save yourself. Why did you do that big sis?” The viper asked, Hikari was almost sobbing now.
“ I didn’t! I didn’t abandon you to save myself Hana, I wanted to bring you with me but there wasn’t any time!” Hikari cried, not realizing the viper was taunting her.
“ But you did do that Hikari,” the vipers' voice changed again, this time to Yami’s. “ you left your siblings and us. I didn’t think you were that selfish, I’m disappointed in you.”
“ B-But you told me to leave…” Hikari trailed off, not realizing the viper was tightening its grip around her.
“ I never thought you would be like this Hikari,” The voice changed again to Charlotte’s. “ but it's alright now. I’ll take care of it now.” The viper then pulled it’s head back and showed its fangs, and just as it was about to lean down and bite her, a whip of roses and thorns wrapped around its mouth.
Charlotte immediately used both of her hands and pulled the vipers head back enough to get it away from Hikari. Yami ran up behind it and, using his katana, sliced through its neck. The viper then disappeared in a cloud of dark mana.
Yami stood in front of Hikari as she fell to her knees, Charlotte ran over to her and kneeled down.
“ Are you alright?” She asked as she looked her ‘daughter’ over, she didn’t seem injured physically, but she was still shaken. Hikari nodded and slowly stood up, she shook her head.
“ I’m fine, I shouldn’t have let my guard down.” She muttered, her eyes full of anger. She was angry not only at Botis and his tricks, but also at herself for falling for them.
“ Watch it. This snake bastard’s craftier than some of the other devils we’ve faced.” Yami said as he tried to watch for Botis’s Ki, the devil just chuckled.
“ I’ll take that as a compliment.” Botis said as more and more vipers appeared. “ At least this time you seem to be more of a challenge, so try not to disappoint me.”
———
Alistar and William followed behind Kya as they walked down the halls, they still hadn’t seen a single person. It seemed that Captain Sukehiro was right, they were being ordered to stay away. But for what reason?
Kya suddenly stopped and looked around nervously which caused William and Alistar to as well.
“ What’s wrong?” William asked, Kya frowned slightly and suddenly walked over to one of the windows.
“ Oh, the noise is coming from out here.” Kya said softly, Alistar and William looked at each other before slowly making their way to the window.
What they saw was terrifying.
Down in the courtyard, and for as far as the eye could see, were people. But more like shadows of people. They could see nothing but darkness. The people that were down there, screaming, shouting, and fighting amongst each other were all Magic Knights and Nobles, and they all looked like the ones in Miku’s memories of when Spade was invaded.
“ What is this?” William asked, his eyes wide in surprise.
“ This is the devil's army.” Kya muttered as she stared out, Alistar frowned.
“ ‘The devil’s army’?” He asked, Kya nodded.
“ Inside the throne room is a devil called Botis, he’s the one who did this.” She explained softly. “ he has a form of memory magic, if any of his vipers are able to bite you, then you lose all your memories.” She added, William and Alistar both froze at her words, their memories would be erased?
Alistar immediately turned to run back, he had to warn the others! If they were to lose all their memories and become like those in Miku’s memories, he shook his head, he didn’t even want to think about it!
Suddenly he felt something hit his back and wrap around his middle, he turned slightly and saw it was Kya.
“ No! You can’t go,” she cried. “ I don’t want to be left alone again!”
Alistar felt his heart suddenly be torn in two, on the one hand he wanted to stay with Kya and keep her safe, but on the other he needed to go help Hikari and her family! He looked at William, he needed him to tell Alistar what to do, but William looked just as torn.
“ This…is what we’ve been training for,” William muttered hesitantly as he looked down the hall. “ Yami, Charlotte, and Hikari are all strong in their own right and can take care of themselves. If they need us we have the communication devices, but for now, we should focus on rescuing Kito, and we’ll go that way once we’ve found him.” William added, Alistar could easily tell he didn’t want to do that anymore then Alistar did, but they were left with little choice. It was too dangerous for Kya to go there and they couldn’t leave her alone.
“ Alright,” Alistar muttered hesitantly as he turned around and looked at William and Kya. “ we’ll focus on rescuing Kito, and once we’ve done that, we’ll circle back for the others.” Kya and William nodded and the three hesitantly walked back down the hall.
After the three walked on for a few minutes Alistar began to notice certain things, when she had been talking about the devil she didn’t appear frightened or nervous, instead she was rather calm, and her clothes were clean and undamaged. Too clean and undamaged. For someone who had been running and hiding for days or weeks that didn’t make sense, and for her not to have a single injury just made it more odd. But what really stood out was:
How did she and Kito get from Spade to Clover?
Alistar was pulled out of his thoughts as he noticed they nearly passed by the Wizard Kings office. Alistar stopped in his tracks which caused William and Kya to do the same.
“ I wonder if we’ll find out more about what happened here.” He muttered to himself as he opened the office door, William and Kya followed behind him.
The office was dark save for the moonlight shining through the window. There were books and papers strewn all about on the floor and desk, Alistar silently wondered if the Wizard King had made it out safely, or if he became one of those monsters outside. Then, his mind began to wander, did everyone turn into those things? His father, Hikari’s parents, Ezio’s parents? He suddenly jumped when William placed a gentle hand on his shoulder.
“ Are you alright?” He asked, Alistar nodded and William walked towards the desk as Kya hung around the door.
The two began searching through the papers and books, hoping to find something that would hint at what happened to Spade and Clover. But so far they found nothing.
“ Either the documents are hidden, they were taken, or they were destroyed.” William said with a defeated sigh, he had hoped there would be something especially since at one of the previous meetings Alistar had said he was briefed on this before, along with the other Magic Knight Captains.
As William looked up he noticed Alistar was holding a book, and was standing deadly still. He began to walk towards him and frowned when he suddenly felt himself walking on something soft.
William looked down and saw he was surrounded by spider lilies, as he tried to move vines wrapped around his ankles and kept him in place. When he looked up he watched Alistar snap the book in his hands closed and turned slightly to face William.
“ I’m sorry, father.” Was the last words William heard before his eyes began to droop and he fell unconscious on the floor.
———
On the other side of the castle
Yami let out a grunt as he blocked another of the vipers attacks, no matter how many he, Hikari, and Charlotte cut down, they just kept coming back. As he blocked yet another attack, another viper came and swiped him with its tail, causing him to fly across the room.
“ Crap. They just keep coming!” Hikari said slightly out of breath as she was knocked back along with Charlotte.
“ We can get through them.” Yami said determinedly as he caught his breath. “ What we need to do is draw him out from his throne.”
“ But the question is ‘how’? How do we get him to come down from there?” Charlotte asked as she caught her breath as well, Yami tilted his head.
“ Hikari, you’re pretty fast right?” Yami asked curiously, Hikari and Charlotte both frowned.
“ I am. Why?” She asked, Yami smirked down at her.
“ Charlotte and I will cover for you, you just try to go up there and land a hit.” Yami said, it was all the could do, maybe they could catch him off guard with a direct attack.
“ Are you sure?” Charlotte asked, when she saw Yami nod she looked at Hikari and sighed. “ Can you do it?”
“ Yeah. I’d rather try that than do nothing at all.” Hikari said with a firm nod, Charlotte and Yami both shared a look. Hikari had seemed to inherit both of their confidence levels.
Soon, Hikari took off as quickly as she could towards Botis. Charlotte used her magic to wrap her roses around the vipers, some were destroyed and others were flung across the room, she just had to get them away from Hikari and Yami.
Yami was able to keep up with Hikari for the most part, he would use his Dark Magic to slash and hack at any Viper that got too close. He even was able to push a few away if he wasn’t able to destroy them, and the ones he may have missed Charlotte took care of.
Soon, Hikari ran up towards Botis and, as she jumped in the air to land a blow with her Dark Spatial magic, she was suddenly hit by something and was knocked straight into Yami. When the three looked they noticed Botis was smirking at them, and his body had begun to transform more into a snake.
“ I’m bored with just watching,” He said as he suddenly called his vipers back towards him. “ So now I think it’s time that I gave you three a real challenge, don’t you?”

[Angel of Miracle; Finale] 310 - Ad Infinitum
“It’s… Daisuke’s crest?!” - Vee was amazed with it. Shocked yet astonished. So that was Daisuke’s power, crest, core… It didn’t matter the term, that strength was filling him as well. His eyes were glowing in crimson, and he felt unstoppable.
“V-mon, are you ready?” - Daisuke sounded more serious than before.
“Ready.”
“W-wait, what are you two doing?!” - Asked both Miyako and Warlock in unisson.
“I have a plan, trust me… I won’t die. Just try to find a solution for the core of Purity, please.”
“But, Daisuke-kun--” - Hikari approached from him - “You shouldn’t fight alone…!!”
“Who said I’m fighting alone?” - he smiled - “You five come with me.”
“Only us??” - Iori gasped.
“Wait a second,” - Ken interrupted them - “Warlock-san… What if we use someone from our world’s core? We know who may have the core of Purity.”
“A-are you crazy summoning Mimi-san here?!” - the other Chosen Babbled.
“I see… You want to use this person’s core for it” - Warlock mused - “May work.”
“Do you think I will let you do that?!” - Pandora shouted, then grabbed Daisuke - “You’re coming with me, and you won’t get this last piece mwhahaha!!”
“D-Daisuke!!” - Vee shouted.
“H-Hey let me g-go!!”
She flew away, dragging Daisuke to the skies. The Chosen glanced at their partners and evolved them directly to Aquilamon, Digmon, Stingmon, Pegasmon and Nefertimon. The kids flew after them, with V-mon going on Aquilamon’s back alongside Miyako.
“They wouldn’t like to have another friend summoned here” - Lia protested - “Let’s try find another solution! I thought bringing Hikari could solve it, but now I see it was a bad idea.”
“I know, but… If we don’t do something, Lance-- No, sir Daisuke will be beaten. Him and those kids.”
“Allow me help you,” - said a voice that made Warlock stare for a few seconds.
01000100 01101001 01100111 01101001 01101101 01101111 01101110 01000001 01100100 01110110 01100101 01101110 01110100 01110101 01110010 01100101 00110000 00110010
“GET OVER IT, PANDORA!” - Daisuke shouted - “You can’t win! A-and I have no f-fear!!”
“We will see, Lance Duskstella” - she smirked.
“My name’s Daisuke now! Motomiya Daisuke, the Chosen Child of Courage and Friendship!” - he bit her arm in this desperate attempt to free from her arm.
“Oh how cute, you think you can use your teeth to hurt me?” - she laughed - “Try again. Try again.”
“Ma’am, you’re tough! Literally.”
“LEAVE DAISUKE ALONE YOU FREAK!!” - Miyako shouted - “Aquilamon, get them!” “But what if I hit Daisuke-san?!” “You won’t! Also it’s impossible to kill Motomiya Daisuke!” “But--” “Aquilamon you NEED to do something!” - Vee pulled the bird’s feather lightly - “Or at least get closer so I can jump and evolve!”
“Oh? Your friends are here…”
They all landed. Pandora kept using Daisuke as hostage, making impossible to attack her. This wasn’t helping Daisuke and his anxiety. He was trying to escape, but no success. She was stronger than him. Also now everyone was able to see her: Her skin was white, her eyes were purple and liveless, she had brown hair and long as Archnemon’s. Basically, she looked like Archnemon in appearance, but she was human and a witch.
“Whatever you’re doing, don’t shoot on me!” - Daisuke screamed - “But don’t stay looking at, do something… N-NOW!!”
“Wait!” - Ken stood in front of them - “We have to have an strategy first.”
“B-But Ken-kun!” - Miyako was panicked. “Ken, this is no time for that!!” - V-mon protested.
“W-what are you doing?!” - Daisuke couldn’t believe it - “H-help me…!!”
“Let him go, Pandora” - Ken ordered - “Or else…”
“Or else what?” - she mocked him - “Do you think I will be frightened by a bunch of kids? Hah, I’m a WITCH. I can curse upon you all if I want!”
“Look, the enemies in our world underestimated those kids” - Daisuke smirked - “You have no idea who are you fighting against”
“You’re a damsel in distress, Lance. You shouldn’t--”
“V-MON HEAD!!”
Vee took her off guard and knocked her down. Stingmon flew and grabbed them, returning directly to the group. Pandora then got irritated with those outsiders and their monsters… She wanted to eliminate them. But how??
“Ack, my neck hurts” - Daisuke complained - “She’s really strong and feels no pain…!”
“We need to find some way to beat her!” - Takeru was watching her staring at them.
01000100 01101001 01100111 01101001 01101101 01101111 01101110 01000001 01100100 01110110 01100101 01101110 01110100 01110101 01110010 01100101 00110000 00110010
“Yosh, time to go!” - Taichi and the other five were at the camp. They had told Jun, Momoe and Chizuru to give them total support in the human world. Taichi’s plan was to open the gate to the Digital World and then try to find a way to go to this mysterious world the young Chosen were at the moment.
“Are you sure we can use the Digital World as gateway to this other world?” - Sora was still acting like a concerned mother - “What if we get… stuck in somewhere unknown and with no chances of returning?”
“Sora-san you’re just contradicting yourself a lot” - Mimi teased her - “First you told us one thing, then you said another, and now you’re changing your mind?” - she chuckled like an anime princess - “Oh hohoho! I see… You’re obviously scared!”
“And aren’t you…?” - Sora kept polite and calm, despising Mimi being all fired up for some adventure - “Mimi-chan, aren’t you worried with them?”
“Me?” - Mimi blinked, then she dropped all the sass - “... I’m worried with Hikari-chan and Miyako-chan… No, I’m worried with ALL of them too! But… I thought I had to get spirits up for this mission.”
“She means no harm” - Taichi added - “Mimi-chan is just trying to lighten up everyone’s mood.”
“She doesn’t need to be like that either” - Yamato growled.
“... I’m sorry” - and the Chosen of Purity felt bad for all the tease and snarky attitude.
“It’s not your fault, Mimi-chan” - Sora tried to cheer her up - “I appreciate you’re trying to keep us motivated, but I think not everyone here is in the mood for it.”
“The gate will be opened soon” - Koushiro announced, after a long silence.
“Right!” - Their leader nodded
“But are we sure we can do this?” - here goes Jou ask the same questions Sora did.
“100 percent sure!” - Taichi replied with enthusiasm.
The gate was about to open, but… It wasn’t a Digital Gate. The gate that opened had a man in front of it, someone similar to…
“G-Gennai-san?!” - everyone were in shock.
01000100 01101001 01100111 01101001 01101101 01101111 01101110 01000001 01100100 01110110 01100101 01101110 01110100 01110101 01110010 01100101 00110000 00110010
“Gold Rush!” “Curse of Queen!” “Silver Blaze!” “Blast Laser!” “Moon Shooter!”
Digmon’s drills and Stingmon’s spikes were combined with Nefertimon’s, Pegasmon’s laser beams and Aquilamon’s stream ring-shaped beams against Pandora, but she repelled them with her forcefield. They kept attacking, while V-mon and Daisuke were planning something. They needed time, they needed strategy. Ken was thinking and analyzing the battle, the digimon were dodging magic shots released from their enemy. It was hard to tell how to beat Pandora, especially when they didn’t want to risk approaching from her.
“Didn’t Lance use magic?” - Vee glanced at Daisuke - “Like, I think I heard something about that before.”
“M-Me?” - Daisuke blinked - “A-ah, I used to learn spells and to use my aether for that. Magic is not an unusual thing in this world, all creatures have it… I had it.”
“This means Daisuke-kun has powers?” - Hikari asked.
“Not anymore… Since this is a new body, a new life… I can’t actually use the same magic from before. However, I can use the same weapon I used to have in my training.”
“W-we don’t have too much time anymore!!” - Iori called them - “There’s must have a way to stop her!!”
“A way…” - Dai mused... - “T-that’s it! If we use the core’s power, the CREST power… We might stop her!”
“What?!” - Miyako blinked - “You mean… Do that again? Summon the power inside of us? But you have the cores of everyone from this world’s inside the pendant!”
“I can’t use it without Fiorella’s core” - he explained - “But we can use the left ones here, right now… At least to stop her until Warlock discover something about the sealing spell!!”
“... We should at least try” - Ken agreed. “Yes, we should” - Takeru nodded.
They held each other’s hands and focused on gathering all the power inside themselves. Six lights appeared in front of them -- Determination, Energy, Fairness, Hope, Light and Kindness. It also powered their partners up. But V-mon kept in his child form for an unknown reason.
Then, they pointed their digivices at Pandora, shooting a rainbow light against her. She has been purified… Until Iori realize something coming from her body. A dark shadow formed over her, a monster they wished to not known. A monster with seven legs and eight eyes. It was grotesque, it caused the kids fear and despair.
“W-what is this feeling? Suddenly everything is cold and terrifying...” - Miyako commented.
“Darkness is swallowing us…” - Hikari hugged herself - “This is the end…”
“That’s… Ogudomon” - V-mon told the kids, while watching his digicomrades step back and return to the group - “We’re doomed…”
“Ogudomon?” - the boys repeated.
“That’s the embodiment of all deadly sins of the Digital World” - Pegasmon said. “We’re unable to beat it” - added Nefertimon.
“W-what the… I know you’re scared, but we need to fight it or we won’t go home!” - Daisuke told them - “... I’m afraid too, but if we let the fear control us, there won’t exist a new tomorrow for everyone here!!”
“But--” - they weren’t sure about that.
“Stop saying ‘but’, the world needs us! Time to fight or be eaten by this darkness!”
“Daisuke…” - V-mon glanced at him - “I’m scared…!”
Darkness was his enemy. Not the good shadow used to escape from the heat of the summer, or the cold and dark nights of the winter. It was the evil, the seven sins aprisioned in that box. The evil he had released as Lance, the same maleficent force which is scaring his new friends. Inside, Daisuke was divided between himself… And Lance.
Ah man, I can’t do it. No you can! If I had heard Lia that time… And you’re here right now to solve this, have confidence! But… What if I’m not strong enough to fight it? You’re me, and I’m you. We’re two sides of the same coin. But… What if I fail? There’s no reason to fear. We saved the world before, we can do that again! I’m… Not sure this time… You have to trust yourself. It’s hard…!! We can make it… You have them!! Taichi-san… I want to be like him, I always wanted to be like him. Since I got this new life, I’ve been admired by a person who was the embodiment of courage. Taichi-san is strong, so do you. Here, take my hand and let’s save the world. You’re me, I’m you. Together we form Motomiya Daisuke.
“DAISUKE, HIKARI!!” - a familiar voice came. and everyone looked behind them to see Taichi, Sora, Yamato, Mimi, Koushiro and Jou. With them, there were their other-selves from that world.
“Taichi-senpai!” - Daisuke smiled, it was a miracle. He was there…! He was… Wait, what was he doing there?! - “W-watch out, this digimon is stronger than all of us…!!”
“It’s okay, Lance” - a familiar voice said and the younger Chosen Children saw a man on their side. He looked like Gennai, but more like a mage-Gennai - “Or should I call you by Daisuke now?”
“Gennai-san?” - All six kids and six digimons blinked.
“My Name’s Dragon Who. I’m the one who sealed Ogudomon a long time ago” - he began - “Pandora was one of my apprentices, and she got taunted by the power of that box and its seal. I tried to stop her but… I had no choice but seal her and the box together.”
“I-Is there some way to save everyone’s lives?” - Hikari asked - “Please, tell us!”
“I’ve been debating it since I saw you in the Labyrinth. I felt it since you helped me to escape from there.”
“F-Funbeemon?!” - Vee gasped - “Y-you were Funbeemon?!”
“There’s no time to waste. Lance, use the power of the cores from this world and from your new life’s world.”
“B-But Fiorella--” - Dai tried to argue but…
“Fiorella just like you has reborn. She came before you because she was a pure person of light. You, however, had to be judged by your crimes and get your redemption first. Fiorella now is Tachikawa Mimi, but she has no traces of her past life. You only had those because of your spell, separating a fragment of your soul and sealing it in your star-shaped crystal.”
“M-Mimi-san is... Fiorella??” - the group was confused.
“This means… Having her in this world completes the requirements for the sealing spell. You have power, Lance and outsider children. Now you have to use it to seal the Darkness itself and save this world.”
“We have it…” - Daisuke seemed refreshed, his body had been revitalized by those words. Suddenly, all the cores from the people of that world, and from the twelve Chosen Children were together, surrounding the group - “Guys… We’re going to end this NOW.”
Ogudomon attacked them, but their digimon protected them. all cores also caused a barrier preventing them to get hurt. Unlike the previous time, their partner digimon were consumed by a strong and pure energy, strengthening them. To complete it, a miraculous object appeared in front Daisuke, something he recognized as…
“The Golden Digimental!”
With the crest of Miracles carved on it, Daisuke grabbed it and said the magical words: Digimental Up!! and V-mon immediately evolved directly to Golden Magnamon. Vee’s energy was purifying everything around, giving more power to the digimon group.
“It’s beautiful” - Lia commented. “So this must be the power of all cores together” - mused Warlock.
“Is that… Our power given to the kids?” - Taichi wondered. “Impressive…” - Koushiro was amazed with it.
“Magnamon!” - Daisuke yelled - “Keep your attacks focused on that thing! Nefertimon, Pegasmon, tie it with the holy string. Aquilamon, Stingmon, Digmon, you stay on stand by and wait for the signal. Attack directly the head with long-ranged attacks! Magnamon will finish it with a giant beam… And I-- No, we will seal Ogudomon again…!”
The digimon nodded, and the battle has resumed. Ogudomon kept trying to attack them with its giant legs, but it couldn’t compete with the smaller digimon ones and their speed. The kids also noticed strange colored auras coming from their partners.
Some of them were familiar to Takeru and Hikari. They saw in those auras Seraphimon and Holydramon. However, the auras of the other three digimon weren’t recognized by Miyako, Iori and Ken. Magnamon’s aura was different, it was pure light and energy. He was attacking Ogudomon with physical attacks, giving not so much damage on the enemy.
“We can’t win…” Hikari was afraid again. “We don’t need to beat it” - Daisuke told her - “All we need is to seal it!”
After tying the legs, Nefertimon and Pegasmon used laser beams against the ‘head’ of the enemy digimon. Stingmon, Digmon and Aquilamon used the same attacks they previously used against Pandora. The monster stepped back, falling since it had its legs unable to move. Magnamon gathered all the energy he had and released it in form of a giant explosion of light, illuminating the place.
“Now, Chosen Children!” - Said Dragon Who to them.
All the cores surrounded them, Daisuke used that power and pointed his hands at the grotesque monster, with the other five putting their hands in the magical circle summoned by the sealing spell.
“This is where it ends” - Dai muttered, his eyes shining in orange - “FINAL UNION BLASTER!!”
But surprisingly, the cores released a beam and started to dissolve Ogudomon. Not sure if it was what they expected, but… It was something caused by all twelve Chosen, the six digimon, and the nine people from that world.
“... Final Union Blaster?” - the kids frowned.
“C-Come on, I had to c-come up with a cool name for a finishing attack!” - Daisuke blushed, then they all laughed - “O-Oi… I H-have creativity!!”
“That was so Daisuke” - Magnamon rolled his eyes.
“Look, it’s Pandora…” - Hikari gasped, looking at the poor woman dissolving either - “What… What’s happening?!”
“She had been consumed by Ogudomon for a long time” - Dagon Who explained - “her body couldn’t survive it. You, outsiders, saved this world and I thank you for your efforts. Darkness must be balanced with Light, and this world had been unbalanced for a long time ago. Ogudomon is gone, but this does not mean it won’t return. Since this is the embodiment of all seven demon lords who represents each deadly sin, if those sins take control over the world again, it might reappear.”
“So… It’s not dead, just… temporary dead?” - Daisuke asked.
“Exactly.”
“That makes no sense to me!” - he shouted. “Neither to me, but knowing you and Mimi-san came from this world confuses my head more often” - Miyako sighed.
“I will… read more about it when we’re at home” - Ken seemed curious. “We can read together” - Iori suggested.
“Now it’s time for you six and your six outsider friends go home” - the ancient mage said - “I suggest you to say your goodbyes now, I’ll be send you and your partner monsters back to your world.”
“Right…” - Daisuke nodded and then looked directly at the people from that place. He felt sad inside - “... So, this means my job is done here. I fixed my mistake. You won’t be mad if I never come here again, right? Sienna, Lia, Helios, Warlock…”
“We will miss you, but we will protect this world for you, my brother” - Lia replied with a smile, but she couldn’t hold the tears… She hugged him back, and then Sienna and Helios joined it. Warlock was just watching it.
“Great Grandfather” - he was much more interested on the ‘Gennai-like’ man - “How can you be here?”
“Just like Lance, before I died I used the same spell to leave a shard of my soul in this world. I believe your friend read about it and used at his favor.”
“I see… So Lance was definitely a mastermind after all. You impressed me,” - he said directly to Dai when this had been free from the hugs - “You finished your task, now you’re free from this fate. It was nice to see you again… And I apologize for not being a good friend.”
“What the heck are you talking about, Warlock?” - the other chuckled - “You were the best of the best friends I had! You, Sienna and Helios were important to me. Lia was special, she was my sis” - and then returned the star pendant back to him - “I guess you will want to have it. At least to remember about me.”
Taichi and the other older Chosen were trying to interact with their other-selves. Something in them made them perplexed and curious. But they had no time for a long talk to discover more about them.
Actually… They were sent back home after those goodbyes.

“Waah, I gotta do my homework” - Daisuke, now three months later of that bizarre adventure, was focused on his studies - “Hikari-chan take it easy…!!”
“You have to study more” - she pouted - “I’m disappointed with you, Daisuke-kun.”
“C-come on…!!”
“Daisuke-kun is always goofing around at the classes” - Takeru commented with Iori - “It’s our last year of Elementary and he’s still…”
“I will be lonely next year” - Iori confessed - “Because I used to have a noisy life around you three. Miyako-san is already in the Junior High and I miss her.
“We will come to visit you, don’t worry about it!!” - Daisuke gave Iori a noogie - “Don’t sweat it, kiddo!”
“We will miss you too, Iori-kun” - Hikari was just watching the boys interacting - “But the school year is not over yet. We will still be here.”
“She’s right” - Takeru and Daisuke agreed.
“I’m… I’m glad to have you three with me” - Iori blushed.
“Aww, isn’t he cute?!” - Daisuke teased him - “Adorable baby face! He loves us!!”
Hikari giggled.
“Then, we should go home” - Takeru was turning the computer off - “We can’t let be late for dinner.”
They agreed and left the room, but Daisuke was still giving a look at their hideout. Suddenly, the image of Miyako, Iori, Takeru, Hikari and him gathered in front the computer with their partners popped in his mind when he looked at their ‘usual spot’.
“Hurry or Jun will eat all the food today!!” - Chibimon gave him a light bite on the shoulder.
“A-ah, that’s right! Mom’s going to make yakisoba today.”
When he was walking home, Daisuke noticed a strange van following him. At first he thought it was just a mere coincidence, but they stopped right when he reached his apartment complex.
He ignored it, but he couldn’t avoid…
“Are you… Motomiya Daisuke? I know you’re holding a digimon.”
… That woman in black.
“H-How do you know my name?!” - he looked behind, seeing a woman with short brown hair, olive green eyes, mysterious aura… - “What’s a digimon?”
“Don’t play dumb with me,” - she said, then smiled - “Can we talk for a while, in particular?”

What makes me adore Taiyama
First off I want to apologize to the person who requested this for taking so long. I have been trying to figure out how to put into words why I like Taiyama so much and even now I know I will not be able to do it justice and it annoys me (this thing has gone through so many rewrites, I’d write a whole paragraph, then proceed to highlight it and delete it). Compared to my other posts I feel like this one contains a huge lack of passion even though it’s the thing I am most passionate about in Digimon… (I will eventually update this post to include links to headcanons and analysis that had a huge effect on my love for Taiyama)
A huge reason why I love Taiyama actually comes down to the fandom. I find there is so much richness to this pairing in terms of Analysis and Headcanons. I love reading other people’s interpretations of the characters and seeing people point things out that I never understood or noticed before. And it allows me to gain new appreciation for the characters which I never had before.
When I was a kid I never liked Taichi and Yamato’s rivalry, it made no sense to me and I felt like it was forced. I especially hated their clash near the end of season 1. I thought Taichi was being a huge dick to Mimi and thought Yamato was being a brat when he attacked Taichi. But reading many analysis of both these scenes and the characters has made me grow to understand these two more and why they do what they do. The Taiyama fandom just makes me really happy and I think it is full of such wonderful people with really rich imaginations and wonderfully analytical minds. So Taiyama has this special place in my life because it has kinda changed my world. I joined Tumblr because of it and have discovered other people who over-analyze as much as I do and I love it and feel really at home in this fandom.
I ship them because I feel like they complete each other in a really nice way. Taichi relies on Yamato to be his devil’s advocate so he can make well informed decisions. Yamato relies on Taichi to make him aware of what is really important and to help get him out of his funk with that wonderfully energetic personality. Yamato has difficulty believing and trusting in people while all Taichi does is believe and trust in people (except his sister in 01). Yamato tends to do things on his own while Taichi always brings people together. Yamato needs to feel needed and Taichi gives him that sense of purpose. I feel like Taichi is a sword while Yamato is a shield. Taichi’s has an offensive mind and Yamato a defensive mind. Yamato is going to think of how to protect everyone while shielding them while Taichi is going to think of the quickest way to take out the enemy. Yamato is the serious one who knows how to have fun while Taichi is the fun one who knows how to be serious.
They also have so much in common too though so their relationship doesn’t feel like one that could never work out because they are too different. They both care very strongly about others and hate to see people upset or hurt. They both have overprotective natures. They both get angry pretty easily, but at the same time are capable of being easily calmed down. And they can make up really fast, like it’s amazing how fast these two can settle differences which I think means if they became a couple their arguments would rarely get out of hand or end in long lasting wounds.
These two also open up the potential for really great headcanons and analysis (I’m planning on doing one soon on how I headcanon that they both have serious emotional issues and difficulty communicating but for entirely different reasons and it just makes me really happy to play around with the idea of these two in my head both as individuals and as a couple).
I really like that neither one dominates the other. I’ve never been one for those gay ships where one is the guy and the other is clearly meant to be the more feminine one. Neither Taichi nor Yamato could ever have complete control in the relationship, they are very evenly matched both in physical and mental strength and I don’t think either one would want to be dominant.
I like that these two develop a really close bond despite all their fighting in early episodes. I feel like there is this really strong bond between them that neither one can escape and that just comes naturally to them. I love that they are so happy to see each other in episode 9 and they are the only two to have that reaction to seeing each other again. Mimi is super happy to see Koushiro but Koushiro couldn’t care less and Jyou and Sora immediately go into plan mode. Taichi and Yamato are the only two to take the time to appreciate that they have found each other (you know… before they proceed to get into a huge fight but that’s just their nature at this point).
I love that they don’t understand each other throughout season 1 but you really feel like they have grown to understand each other by season 2 and it’s actually really believably once you understand their characters and motivations. I like that they have a really strong respect for each other with Yamato acknowledging Taichi’s leadership skills and Taichi respecting Yamato’s opinions.
I like the complexity of their relationship. These two wouldn’t just naturally click, they would really have to work at their relationship. They would have to work at communicating properly with each other and you know that they would. They would want to know why the other one is upset, and why they are feeling the way they feel. They would want to make the other one happy and beat up anyone who makes them unhappy. I kind of picture their fights ending in them both being upset with themselves for making the other one upset.
I love that there is tension in their relationship. I don’t like relationships that seem like they would just work all the time with little to no conflict, those relationships bore me.
I like that they both strive to make the other one a better person. Taichi wants Yamato to believe in other people and show him they can be believed in. Taichi wants to prove to Yamato that people believe in him too. Yamato just wants Taichi to be the best leader he can be.
I love the way these two fight. I love that they used to beat the crap out of each other and scream and shout as kids and now it’s just silent brooding and awkward stares. It’s so funny to me the way these two have evolved.
Their interactions really make me feel like Yamato is Taichi’s most precious person, right behind Hikari of course. And that Taichi is Yamato’s most precious person, right behind Takeru of course. Taichi is often thinking about Yamato in 01, like in ep 21 in the Japanese version he literally wakes up from his sleep calling out Yamato’s name, just omfg. And in Tri how Yamato calls Taichi as soon as he notices what’s going on on Tv and how he notices something is wrong with Taichi and starts watching his every move.
These two are just so full of love by their nature and when I look at them I feel like they would follow each other to hell and back and give everything for the other person and I truly feel they would be lost without each other. They are one of those couples that I feel if one of them were to die the other one would die to. You know you hear about those couples who grow old together and then when one dies of old age the other dies of a broken heart, that is how I picture the story of these two ending.

Re:Blaster/83 2nd Movement : Last Divination
Hikari sat forwards in the cockpit, flicking several switches before leaning back and flipping another few behind him. He pulled down the mic on his headset. “This is Green Earth to flight tower. You copy?” He asked, as mecha’s engines began to whir to life.
“Hearing ya loud and clear, Green Earth! Hey! Shoot those Jark Matter bastards down, alright?” Ikura shouted over the intercom.
((I suggest you listen to this, reader.))
“Pre-flight checks are complete. Open the gates, Ikura.” Hikari coldly answered, ignoring her comments. Hitting a switch above him, the shutters on the mech’s main cameras opened up. The panels on the displays filled with information, showing the current placement on known charts of the area, as well as his current heading, the system’s output, and other important information a pilot needed to know.
“Roger that! Good hunting, Green Earth!”
The launch deck’s gates slowly opened, revealing the reaches of space beyond. Hikari narrowed his eyes, taking a deep breath. The fleet of ships weren’t going to wait for them to get ready. It was do or die time.
“Green Earth, launching!” He declared, grabbing the joysticks on either side of him and pushing them forwards. There was a jolt as the mecha shot forwards, propelled by the rocket sled it was standing atop. The sled reached the end of its track and it threw the black framed giant forwards, causing the pilot to grit his teeth. The rows of switches behind him receded into the walls as the 360 display booted up, showing the rest of the fleet’s forces deploying, with him in the lead.
“Rogue Squadron, this is Green Earth. I don’t have much to say....go out there, tear those aliens up, and come home in one peace. Green Earth out!”
He kicked the afterburners into overdrive, the mecha flying forwards. It extended an arm, a beam saber igniting out of the top of the arm.
Ahead, the Jark Matter forces, with their imposing silhouettes, spiked shoulders, and mono-eyes swarmed forth in hordes, looking to eradicate all life on Earth.
Not today.
Green Earth met its first foe, stabbing the saber through the mecha’s head and laying its free hand on its chest. The pilebunkers embedded in it’s hand went off, crushing the cockpit. It severed the head, grabbing the body and chucking it at another nearby grunt suit.
His comms crackled. “Hikari! I whipped up something brand new for you that should give you the edge.” He furrowed his brow, glancing over the dashboard to see if there was some new feature she’d put in to better augment his piloting skills.
“It’s called the TOQ System!” She declared proudly.
Green Earth split another mech down the middle before kicking its remains away. It raised its beam saber, slicing up a missle that had been fired at it. The two halves spiraled behind it, exploding and lighting it up in silhouette.
“TOQ System? What the hell is that?” Hikari asked, somewhat frustrated she was cutting off his focus from the allied chatter and surrounding area.
“It stands for Time Oscillation Quantum System! It’ll displace you in time so you can get the drop on your foes!”
He growled. “Just get to the point!”
“You can warp around and be stealthier. Sheesh. You’re no fun.” She signed off, the muffled chatter of ally units returning to full volume. A cap on the right joystick unfolded, revealing a green button.
Upon pressing it, the black paneling of the Green Earth opening up to reveal neon green lights. The eyes flashed blue, and it disappeared. The Jark Matter units that had surrounded Green Earth glanced around in confusion, before one seized up and exploded, the haze from the destruction clearing some only for aquamarine eyes to pierce through the screen.
Green Earth dashed forwards, igniting the other beam saber and beginning to slice and dice its way through enemy forces. Elsewhere, the rest of the allied forces were struggling to keep up- the mass produced frames, while having strength in numbers, had inexperienced pilots at the wheel. As a result, they were getting torn up....
Until a new contender arrived.
A sharp, knife-like ship jumped out of warp, throwing enemy forces into disarray as they maneuvered around it in an attempt to not get skewered. Five flaps opened up on the top, kanji painted across each one that read “マジスカロボ隊” (translator’s note: Majisuka Robo-tai, “tai” meaning squadron).
Five suits erupted out of them, leaping forwards into the fray.
“You didn’t think I’d let you hog all the action, did you?” A cool, feminine voice rang over the human comms.
“Sis!? What are you doing here?!” Hikari shouted, Green Earth looking up from impaling yet another Jark Matter grunt.
The pilot- Sado- smirked. “Heh...what else? Saving the world. Alright, girls! Let’s show these bastards from outer space how we do it back home!”
The first suit- the leader- was white, and it had extra thrusters on the back. It was a perfect design, all around- capable of doing anything. It held its arms out, energy arcing between the two fists. It tensed up, before striking a karate pose and running forwards (somehow, despite not touching solid ground) and kicking a Jark Matter mech in the head, before following up with a rocket propelled punch. Blood red text on its shoulder read “00 - サド “ (Translator’s note: Sado)
Energy coalesced into the shape of a sphere in its palm, before releasing. The white mech grabbed a colossal hammer off its back, swinging it like a baseball bat and smashing the energy sphere, which careened forth...right through several more grunts.
“Grr! Get the fuck out of my way!”
Another Majisuka unit grabbed the head of a Jark Matter mech, its arm pivoting around several times before it launched the grunt forwards into a horde of mechs, using the thrown one as an imprompteau javelin. The sharp head pierced through not one, not two, but three units, all of them erupting into flames. The thrown unit was stunned, having taken a beating after flying through three of its allies.
This mech that had thrown it was salmon pink, and while smaller in stature it had plenty of thrusters covering its body. In blood red lettering on the shoulder, it read ‘01 - 渋谷 ‘ (Translator’s note; Shibuya). Not only was it maneuverable, but it was able to add some extra power to its attacks. It wasn’t armed with any weapons...just its fists. “Tch! I’m not done with you yet! Get back here!”
She shot forwards, flying above the stunned suit, before heel dropping onto it, all the thrusters on the suit angling downwards. The suit was torn in half, and the attack continued, going through several more suits that were also obliterated.
Another one flew forwards, colored wine red. It had gigantic, bird-like wings and a segmented tail. The tail broke up into parts, which flew apart individually and began firing at every Jark Matter unit in sight. White lettering on its shoulder read “02 - トリゴヤ, “ (Translator’s note: Torigoya).
“Aha...ahaha.....ahahaha! Wel~come baaack~” A cackle resounded over the comms as the bits shot up every foe, locking onto new targets with each successive kill.
This mech’s hands and feet were covered in sharp talons, which lit up to reveal they were actually beam talons. Spinning dramatically, wings spreading to their full width, it flew into the fray, rearing its legs up and grabbing another Jark Matter mech by the shoulders with its feet. It somersaulted, releasing and throwing the suit away. The wings closed up, forming a cone. Raising its arms, the crimson mecha clasped its hands together, forming the tip of a drill. It spun rapidly, piercing through its quarry and coming out, wings unfurling as the suit exploded behind it.
The next one was black, with a solitary white cross painted on its chest. It seemed plain...at least, at first glances. It had an extended thruster compliment, making it look rather angelic. It became enveloped in a violet aura, the eyes flashing. The unit silently raised its head, before blasting off, becoming a living comet. It tore through Jark Matter units in rapid succession, a chain of destruction following in its wake. White text on its shoulder read “03 - ブラック“ (Translator’s note: Black.)
The last mech, colored dark green, had a rather sinister aura to it. It was covered in carbon scoring, smears of oil, and even the residue of the strange, neon fluids that Jark Matter used to fuel its mecha. It twitched as it erratically flew about the battlefield. “Hey....are you mad?”
Snatching a Jark Matter grunt, it flew towards one of the enemy carriers, slamming it facefirst into the hull. It dragged the enemy suit along the outside. “Kyahahahahah! Can you handle the heat?” Declared the suit’s pilot as it deftly avoided the anti-air fire being directed at it. It smashed the suit into the command deck of the ship, getting bathed in flames as the ship began to go down. The stained white text on its shoulder read “04 - ゲキカラ“ (Translator’s note: Gekikara).
“What the...” Hikari let out...he shook his head. Whatever! His sister and her friends seemed to be turning the tide.
“This is Green Earth! I’m going in!” He shouted, pressing forwards on both joysticks. He cut a hole into one of the ships, flying inside and skidding to a halt. He’d entered a staging area, where plenty more Jark Matter units were waiting. They all turned their heads.
Hikari rolled his neck, popping his fingers before grabbing the controls again.
Green Earth lunged forwards, cross slicing through one unit before tackling the one behind it, driving a beam saber into its chest. Using the momentum, it hand vaulted off the floor, kicking away another grunt before driving a blade through it. Landing on its head, Green Earth angled its thrusters so it would spin around, knocking away more grunts Matrix style, before pushing off, jumping off the ceiling, and landing on the chest of another grunt, using it to grind across the bay and slashing through anything that got in its way. It Kickflipped the mech before doing an Acid Drop into a 360 Impossible, Ollying out of the ship right as it exploded.
It was pretty clear to Jark Matter their invasion of Earth was a bad idea- they’d never had a loss this staggering. Regardless, they pressed on, releasing more grunts.
“Grr...they just don’t stop coming! How many of these fuckers are there!?” Shibuya shouted.
“Lemme help thin ‘em out!” A volley of missiles flew forwards, each smashing into a Jark Matter grunt and killing them. The source? Another mech that was colored silver, which was armed to the teeth. It had launchers mounted on both shoulders, on its arms, and on its legs. Its back had extra thrusters, on which even more missile racks were mounted. It released the rocket launcher it had been holding, and spread its arms and legs. Panels all over its body opened up, revealing...even more missile racks.
“You guys haven’t seen nothing yet! I’m about to show them the Macross Missile Massacre! Taste the fury of the one, the only, Mecha Professor, Ikura-hakase!” The pilot declared. “Fire, fire, fire! IKEEEEEEEEEEEE!”
Every single missile rack unloaded, releasing a gigantic wall of missiles that were so many, I can’t even begin to describe how many there were! Holy shit! That’s a lot!
They spiraled and twisted in and out of sight, chasing grunts down and smashing into them, detonating and lighting up the battlefield like Tokyo at night.
“LAUNCH THE BIG ONE!”
At her command, a gigantic missile fired from the human fleet’s main ship, about the size of a small cruiser. The silver mech ejected all of its empty missile racks (save for the internally mounted ones) and flew to meet it, landing on it and surfing it like it was riding a wave. “Yeeehaw! Let’s see how you like this! The one...the only! Ikura Deluxe! It’s the order of the day! Bon appetit, ya slimy bastards! Kozue....this one’s for you!”
The mech dramatically pointed, the missile aiming for the Jark Matter mothership. “Go!”
A close-up of the missile.
“Go!”
A close-up of the silver mech.
“GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!”
A close-up of the pilot, showing a cutaway of her helmet as she yelled.
The missile had punched all the way through the front lines, where everyone else was, and reached the back, where the enemy fleet’s leader was.
The missile slammed into the mothership, a gargantuan explosion erupting as a result, sending out shockwaves that tossed the other Jark Matter ships out of formation and throwing any nearby mechsuits into disarray. The silver mech was tossed into the explosion, and it self-destructed.
As a result of the explosion, the entire front half of the ship had been decimated; however, it was still operational.
“CHIEF!” Hikari shouted, sounding legitimately distressed. Sure, she was annoying, but that didn’t mean she had to die! “Goddammit....goddammit! You didn’t have to sacrifice yourself!”
He began to shake with anger, fists tightening around the Green Earth’s controls. “I’ll kill ‘em all! Every last one of them! I’ve lost enough friends to Jark Matter...no more! NO MORE!”
The Green Earth’s neon green lights turned red as Hikari became blinded with anger, and it became consumed with overwhelming power. It tore forwards, rampaging its way to the back of the Jark Matter fleet.
Compared to how he usually piloted, which was calm, analytical, and precise, now Hikari’s piloting was uncontrollable, Green Earth careening around as it tore into anything it could get its hands on.
Additionally...he wasn’t as aware of his surroundings as he usually was. Which was why a Jark Matter grunt was able to sneak up on him. It lined its shot up, aiming right for the cockpit. It pulled the trigger...
KABOOM!
The Jark Matter grunt exploded, a silver fighter flying through the destruction. “Hey, kid! Watch your ass!” Shouted the pilot.
“C-chief!? You’re alive?!” Hikari stammered.
“Of course I am! I’ve got too much shit to do to just die like that! Though, I gotta admit, that would’ve been pretty cool. Heh.” The fighter flew in closer. “Anyways, you might wanna clench. I’m about to ride you!”
“Wait, what--”
The silver fighter lined up behind Green Earth, before folding up and docking with the mech. The lights across it returned to green, as the silver fighter changed its hues to match the rest of the mech. “Docking complete! Hey, he’s still single, just so you know!”
“C-Chief, cut that out!” He demanded.
“Right, right. Forwards! We got a final boss to defeat!” She declared.
Laser cannons sprung up, deploying over the Green Earth’s shoulders.
“Right...let’s go! This is for all my friends....both living and dead! We’re gonna come home today!” Hikari declared.
“Fuck yeah! That’s what I wanna hear! Go get ‘em, kid!” Ikura shouted.
The Green Earth sped forth again, bearing straight for the mothership. It was tailed by multiple grunts, which formed up to chase after it.
The Green Earth dove into the mothership, flying past bulkheads, crossbeams, and other structural nonsense that would just be an obstacle during this final assault. You remember the run on the 2nd Death Star in Return of the Jedi, right? It’s like that! The grunts were unable to keep up, smashing into the various parts of the ship and exploding, damaging it even further.
Occasionally, it had to cut through several walls, but it finally reached the core. Conveniently, it was shaped like a giant arena, with the core of the ship being in a giant column that hummed as it ran.
Inside, a SUPER EVIL looking mech awaited Green Earth, and it had a super big cape that looked really dumb because it was fluttering like it was in the wind despite being in space, which is a vaccuum. I mean, fine I guess it looks cool but it’s dumb.
It tossed off the cape, which fell to the ground- this is really stupid I hate this- and it pulled out a beamsaber, which, when ignited, became a massive broadsword. How the fuck does that work? This guy’s trying too hard to be cool.
The two mechs clashed, and a comm line opened between them.
“Foolish Earthling! I, Zhen, the ultimate conquerer-” “Hey! Asswipe! Shut up!” Shouted Ikura.
“What!? You dare interrupt me, the glorious leader of-”
“BITCH, I SAID SHUT UP.” She yelled.
Immediately he was silenced. “Quit your yammering and fight! You think we give a shit!?” Hikari shouted.
“Very well, then...let us dance!” Zhen cried out, laughing as the two mechs rocketed around, beam sabers repeatedly clashing. Green Earth fired at Zhenmech with its shoulder cannons, scoring a few hits now and again.
At some point the Green Earth, damaged and barely functioning, drove its beam saber through the Final Boss’ chest.
“What was that you called me? Foolish?” Hikari commented. “Well, looks like you’re the fool...’cause you’re dead.” He smirked.
“Hey, kid?” Ikura said.
“Yeah?”
“Don’t quit your day job.”
Zhenmech exploded, and the explosion also knicked the core, which happened to be made out of a super volatile substance known to us humans as Explodium. Immediately it erupted into flames, and Green Earth began the journey out of the ship, flames licking at its heels as it dodged and maneuvered its way back out.
However, the path seemed...different. Maybe it was just the alien nature of the ship, but the path had changed.
“How are we going to get out of here!? We’re gonna die at this rate! Dammit!” Hikari yelled. “We’ve made it this far...just to lose at the end!”
Ikura slowly lifted her head. It was like...she was in a trance. She saw an angel appear to her...it was Kozue!
“This way...”
“Hikari.” She said, in an uncharacteristically calm voice. Fuck, that was a big word.
“What?” He asked.
“Fly up.” She said.
“What?”
“Just do it!”
“If you say so...”
The Green Earth angled upwards, holding out its beam sabers to tear through the hull.
The Green Earth was rocked as it flew through the ship’s husk...but it finally emerged, triumphantly escaping as the ship was consumed from the inside out, before finally being consumed in one gigantic, satisfying, climactic explosion that was really good and super cool to look at.
Also, there was probably like, a really triumphant fanfare or something.
Okay, I’ve burnt out on this drabble. Hoped you enjoyed reading it.
