You’ve always known Ume’s great with kids. With the way he’s always so playful with them, so helpful with whatever they might need — it’s like they’ve got a big brother in him. And it’s true to some extent. He sees everyone in Makochi as family, after all.

So when you spot him cradling a shop owner’s newborn baby in his arms, it doesn’t surprise you. Even babies love him. No surprise there.

But when he coos at the little one so gently, gazing down at them like one of his own, letting them grab his finger with their tiny hands, you feel your heart flutter. You walk over to stand beside him, stunned with your heart absolutely melting at the sight.

He turns to meet your gaze with the brightest smile on his face as he makes the baby give you the tiniest, most precious wave. You give them both a tiny wave back. Leaning towards you to give you a kiss on the crown of your head, he whispers an “I love you” into your scalp. You could only muster a soft hum in response, leaning your cheek on his shoulder with your arm wrapped around his waist, reaching a finger out for the baby to hold too.

And he understands. Maybe someday it’ll be one of your own in his arms.

‘Our kid someday’, he thinks to himself.

Someday.

i think kathryn would instinctively respond to the babies' chirps hehe and feel a bit cringe after realizing she did it :)

it becomes an apparent reflex around Resolutions and then i think she'd kinda fondly adopt the habit of communicating with them in chitters and chirps after their time on New Earth. i think itd be cute if she didnt have much control over it at first hehe :3 makes chakotay chuckle when she does it.

YIPPIE! We Unlocked The Snatcher DLC, LET'S GO!

The best way that I can describe this man in this AU is like.....mostly deadpan, with an occasional snarky quip, he kinda just rolls with the flow at this point. He's very much past his prime, and is now just very calmly sitting in the passenger seat while Hat kid rams her scooter into the nearest cement wall.

He is the only real sane voice of reason in the entire kingdom, Which is why Hat always bothers him with all her problems.

Something I can mention w/o having to be vague is the fact that, - yes, in this universe dad snatcher is a thing. It NEVER comes up in the main story, mostly because I decided I wanted it to be a side thing entirely(backstory for the two kingdoms). Hat kid isn't actually aware of this until post-plot, which is when their relationship really starts to blossom.

In the meantime, he's just her super secret lawyer that nobody really knows about.

cats are literally the most perfect creatures to ever exist they literally made a guy who gets the biggest autism eyes and becomes a motor boat when he's happy . they made a guy and said make them do a funny wiggle before they try to murder smthin . they made a guy whos special interest is your hands and if you try to do anything ever he will butt wiggle and jump at you . and he's fuzzy

buggys comment to the guild on "the world doesnt belong to me, it belongs to *us*" really does have me reeling in the sense that i think the way buggy wins mihawk and croc over is by actually supporting their endeavors in turn

like he doesnt fundamentally have an issue with their dreams, its a problem with their ambition, the lack thereof, he sees croc and mihawk basically tip toeing around the issue and operating as pirates like a business vs pirates as a pursuit of their dreams

mihawk is ruled by apathy and crocodile by disillusionment so in their eyes cross guild is just a way to get comfortable and avoid their failed dreams, whereas to buggy its a way to finally chase theirs
