"jinx adopting isha lmao" yes okay but the vicious cycle of silco taking jinx under his wing when she was at her absolute lowest and observing her spiral out of control from a quilted leather chair and jinx killing silco and jinx still grappling with his death and jinx is unmoored and her face is splashed over every wanted poster plastered to grimy walls in the lanes. because you're a jinx - vi had no fucking idea. and then isha falls on jinx's head and knocks her to the floor to escape people who want her dead and jinx puts a bullet in each because it's what she does but isha sticks around. isha throws herself in vi's way because jinx was teetering on the brink of death and swaying in its favor and jinx screams "NO!" and there's a trembling gun in vi's face and a small finger on the trigger. and jinx sees powder between them. she remembers sobbing, tackling silco in a hug and now isha's blubbering with her hands around her and of course jinx knows exactly how this goes so jinx sees her own death. no, no, no, this isn't how it's supposed to- but it really couldn't have gone any other way. you are your fathers child etc.

Based on Linke's statements, it seems like Caitlyn's (loss of) optimism, positivity, and hope will be a source of conflict between her and Vi, especially since he brings up "hope" in relation to Caitlyn twice. (Interestingly, later in the interview, he brings up Jinx and hope--possible parallel between Jinx and Caitlyn?) If the (loss of) hope and optimism does appear in Act I, particularly as a source of conflict between characters, I think it's likely that the thread of hope and optimism (re)appears in Acts II and III. For Caitlyn, will there be a moment where hope, optimism, and positivity are rekindled? What might that moment be? Linke points out that, while Caitlyn is a "hopeful beacon," Vi starts their relationship as a somewhat cynical person. Will there be a reversal in attitudes between Caitlyn and Vi? Will Vi come out of her spiral as the hopeful beacon, while Caitlyn adopts a more cynical worldview?

kai - vi; pretty self-explanatory i think.

lloyd - jinx; initially was unsure on whether to make him jinx or ekko but i thought nya fit better as ekko. which yeah. he and kai are not related here though. he still goes by jinx after.. you know

nya - ekko; ^ . ofc since ekko isnt related to vi in the series, it's different in this au; both nya and kai live with ronin (benzo) but they hang out with lloyd a lot

garmadon - vander; ykw. i feel like this is pretty self-explanatory too.

sora (& arin possibly) - isha; although i do still have thoughts of making isha two characters (arin + sora) in this version since. idk. it makes sense

overlord & pythor - silco; ok this one might be a little confusing but overlord is technically the actual silco in this au, but pythor does a lot of the stuff in silco did in s1. pythor is more like another member of the chem-barons but he's the one the overlord trusts most, so he takes on a more silco-like role rather than just one of the other barons. but in the overall structure of the chem-barons, the overlord would be silco. iygwim

harumi - singed; THIS ONE SOUNDS A LITTLE SILLY I KNOW. but i felt it sorta made sense considering the other pairings. also. reviving garmmy and all... instead of a daughter i feel maybe she'd want to revive her parents? smth like that..

jay - jayce; guy whos trying his best but he lowkey sucks at it. yeah that. i feel whatever happened to jayce in the arcane might reflect well into his DR arc? yeaghh

cole - mel; this ones a LITTLE undecided but my idea is that he was taken in by vangelis or smth. her brother would be vania. or it could be the other way around. idk yet..

zane - viktor; uhhh. he would Not be a robot in this au but Yeagh i felt like this fit a bit.

pixal - sky; ^

skylor - cait; this ones also undecided!!! i can maybe see cole and skylor being switched around. im honestly not very sure yet.

wu - heimerdinger; wu and garm are still related here! theyre both long-aging creatures, except they went to separate places. wu went to topside and garm went to the undercity, and they have not spoken in a very VERY long time. :3

"Silco didn't create Jinx, you did" lives in my mind rent free because throughout season 1, Vi has been convincing herself that Silco is the obstacle preventing her from getting Powder back. She's traumatized and guilt-ridden. When Vi is traumatized, she simplifies things as a response. She has to believe that getting her sister back is that simple. But when Silco is finally dead, Powder doesn't come back to her. In fact Silco's death is what solidifies Jinx's decision to be Jinx (the complete Jinx aka Jinx + Powder, not the broken version of her that she tried to erase Powder from).

And that's likely why Vi switches on her so quickly. By the time season 2 starts she's fully on board with Piltover wanting to kill Jinx and when she confronts her in ep.3 she says Powder is dead and they're not sisters anymore. Which is wild considering just a few days ago she was reassuring her that they'll always be sisters.

I think Vi meant all of it. At the time she really did want Caitlyn and the enforcers to kill Jinx. But that's because she's still just as traumatized and guilt-ridden as she was before. She can't deal with the fact that Jinx herself is the real reason she can never get Powder back. And as I said, Vi simplifies things as a trauma response. However if they had actually succeeded in killing Jinx, I think Vi would live in regret and self-hatred forever. What someone wants when they're traumatized and hurt is not what they want forever, and Vi does love her sister.

caitlyn comes out of the meeting room, boots echoing on the marble, and her face is stony.

"how'd it go?" vi asks, sitting up on the bench.

"she's disappointed." caitlyn sits down next to her. "we could have had her today, vi. we can't let her get away again."

it sounds like a warning more than a statement of fact.

"you don't have to talk to me like that, you know." vi's trying her damnedest to keep her own tone even.

"like what?"

"like you're giving me orders."

caitlyn has been easy to read since the day she stepped too close to vi's cell. this look that she's giving her now, though? vi can barely parse it.

it passes quickly, though. caitlyn closes her eyes, breathes deeply and furrows her brow, and vi finds comfort in knowing that that means she's disappointed in herself. "i'm sorry. i just- you know how important this is to me."

this being capturing vi's baby sister.

they haven't talked about what happens after caitlyn catches her. vi can't bring herself to ask, and caitlyn seems to think she should just know the logical conclusion. there's no option that makes her feel good: jinx banished oceans away where she'll never see her again, jinx rotting in a cell the way vi was supposed to, something worse that vi won't allow herself to name.

vi has been doing her best to prolong the inevitable, however it comes to them.

"take a break, caitlyn," vi's voice is almost a whisper as she puts a hand on caitlyn's shoulder, turns her so she can see her eyes, close enough to smell her perfume. "i'm going home- come with me. let's sleep it off."

prolonging means peace can't last forever, though.

the door in front of them opens again, and ambessa walks out. backlit by the evening, she looks like every avenging spirit vi's ever read about. it makes her understand why their first words are to not be afraid.

she doesn't say a word; she just gives them both a look that vi is sure is meant to be dismissive and walks down the hallway, out the door, leaving them alone again.

when vi turns back to caitlyn, that implacable cast is back over her eyes. vi's favourite colour was always blue, but that look makes her understand why people think of it as cold.

"i'm going to be in the office," caitlyn says. "you can come or go home, whatever you need, but i'm going to stay. i'm going to make sure that next time, we won't fail."

won't fail. whatever that means. vi's already failed, letting any of this happen.

she can't help herself. before caitlyn can get up to go, vi stands, spits, "good night, sheriff," and walks away.

The concept of a character being pathetic™ and the concept of them also being one of the most powerful characters in their world can and should coexist.
