Songs for some really interesting Dark!Hunter au ideas:
Tumblr media
Not one of us - Lion King 2
Like come on, this needs to be an animatic and this fits Hunter so well. Like what if this takes place during Watching and Dreaming? Like this is basically hunter's worst nightmare. To not belong anywhere, being a long and "Helpless to defy his fate".
This could also be some really good huntlow angst. I mean, when I was reading @avatarmerida's fic " The Secret Life of Caleb Jasper Blood Williams", and It got to Hunter revealing himself as the golden Guard to the team... I just... With everyone's reactions... This is what I heard. Ugh. My heart.
My goodbye - Epic the musical
Maybe a dark! Hunter au?
Inspired by @soldrawss Dark!Hunter au
Where he knows everything about the Day of unity, being a grimwalker and even what happened between the Wittebane brothers. But doesn't care.
Maybe he saw potential in Willow to be in the emperor's coven back when he was a scout during a chance meeting and she used her plant magic to help him with something.
Knowing her talents would be wasted in abominations, when he becomes the golden Guard a few weeks later he demands that she be placed in plant track, due to her raw and natural power for the magic. Even saying he wants to take her up as his protegé, just as Lilith had Amity.
He really just wanted to understand why he couldn't stop thinking of her and thought he could get to the bottom of it with her around him more.
After spending time with her he realized that he enjoyed her company and just wanted a friend and it'd be great to have her in the coven with him, even if it was temporary due to the day of unity.
Since she had never seen him without his mask he infiltrates Hexside as Caleb BloodWilliams under Belos' orders to keep an eye on the human to prevent her from interfering with the day of unity. And finds himself becoming attached to Willow and Gus and this new friendship.
Though as he realizes his feelings for Willow may not be as platonic as he thought.
When she and the rest of the hexsquad go to fight Belos during "Young blood, Old souls", everyone gets separated and thinking that Luz and the others are most likely going to die fighting Belos, Hunter confronts her as the Golden Guard.
Sentimental and irrational behavior aren't any teachings of his and he tells her how she had the potential to be a captain, but she's wasting her time to fight a pointless war. He's done. He's disappointed. But so is she.
Willow isn't stupid, she figured it out. She knew Caleb and the golden Guard were the same person. And now that she knows who the bad guys really are, she's done too. They cut their ties, but super angsty and she tells him that she saw him as a friend (maybe more), but if he wants his goodbye then that's fine.
If he wants to help Belos hurt people, if he refuses to change, then she can put him out of sight and out of mind. He can have his goodbye. At least she knows what she's fighting for, she still has her friends and family, if he's so great and wise why is he all alone?!
They part ways hurt, and even though Hunter didn't want to admit it to himself, he didn't really want her to leave. He wanted her to stay. But he knew his place. He understood his purpose in the end. There's no stopping the inevitable and she couldn't even begin to understand what was happening. After all she is just a witch.
(You can clearly see which one I put more thought into and favor more)
I needed to get this out of my system so I could get back to finishing the fanart I was working on.

i love the voice acting for both hunter and willow in the willow park depression arc. she’s having a panic attack and hunter delivers his lines like “i feel the exact way, but i know what youre saying about yourself isn’t true, and im only now realizing how this kind of thinking hurts.” nice to see how hunter is getting more used to showing his emotions and crying after spending time in the human realm. and its nice to show him passing that to willow.

I just think it’s interesting how no one cared about Willow before Hunter was introduced/any sport in a storm aired…. If you were in the owl house fandom in 2020/2021 pre Hunter, you would never ever ever see solo Willow content. Very few people were making art or fics of Willow herself. But THEN after Hunter was introduced and him and Willow met, people went insane! Now, since this white boy with trauma that everyone loves was introduced, people are making posts about Willow, but ONLY in the context of huntlow, and ONLY in the context of Willow emotionally supporting Hunter through his trauma??? No one ever talks about WILLOW’S trauma. People only ever talk about how “omg Willow teaches him how to function and supports him through his PTSD 🥹❤️” as if that’s a healthy and functional relationship dynamic? I’m sorry, but you should NOT rely on your romantic partner to help you recover from your trauma. That is so toxic and unfair to your partner. Go to fucking therapy maybe? And while we’re at it, stop assuming female characters only deserve attention and appreciation when they’re in a relationship with everyone’s favorite male character………

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag @marimbles! ♥️ No pressure tags: @litfeathers @lollytea @ashanimus @greyhavenisback @princecharmingwinks @tails89 @nutellarghh @ash-mcj @childlikegoblinqueen @daydreams-and-honeybees @avatarmerida @asarcasticwitch @sailahina @secretly-of-course @sapphic--kiwi @haystarlight @zyrafowe-sny @peachytea04 @slightecho
1. How many works do you have on AO3? just hit 100 last month!
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 479,814
3. What fandoms do you write for? I've dabbled in quite a few over the years, but the ones I've written the most fics for are doctor who (eleven/amy) teen wolf (sterek) and the owl house (huntlow)
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? Error 404: Brain Cell Not Found (teen wolf | sterek) You Always Want What You're Running From (sleepy hollow | ichabbie) What To Do When Your Emotionally Constipated Werewolf Boyfriend Gets Cursed By A Witch: A Guide (teen wolf | sterek) Gold Rush (the owl house | huntlow) Lovesick (the owl house | huntlow) 5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I do! Every kind comment means so much to me, so I always take the time to respond to all of them (though I'm not always great at getting to them on time.)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hmm probably The Courtesan and the Writer (doctor who | eleven/amy) I used to dabble in angst a bit more when I first started writing fic, but these days all my fics are pretty much guaranteed to have a happy ending, because real life is hard enough lol
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Pretty much all my fics have happy endings, but one of the happiest I wrote would probably be my huntlow college AU Until You Meet Someone Who Makes The Fall Feel Like Flying
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I wouldn't call it outright hate, but I have gotten a handful of rude comments over the years (complaining that I don't post often enough, telling me my headcanons are wrong, telling me how they think my story should have ended — one time someone yelled at me in all caps because I said that a character chilled red wine lol that one was wild)
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do! Smut is fun. Mine is typically more focused on the emotional aspect than the physical, is usually the result of a long tension-fueled slow burn buildup, and is usually tooth-rottingly fluffy, soft, and sweet.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have! Back in the days where superwholock plagued tumblr, I wrote one of the silliest cross-overs imaginable, combining doctor who, torchwood, bbc sherlock, supernatural, the avengers, and sleepy hollow: Lords, Gods, and Madmen
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yup 🙃
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have! But most of them never saw the light of day 😂 one that did is called An Eggcellent Morning For Cooking Lessons co-written with @ash-mcj @tails89 and @nutellarghh
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I think my top three ships are reflected in who I've written the most fic for: huntlow, sterek, and the eleventh doctor/amy pond
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Luckily, everything that's posted to AO3 is finished, but at this point I'm thinking I'll probably never get around to writing the little nightmares, reylo, and captain swan WIPs I've had sitting in my drafts since 2019
16. What are your writing strengths?
I've been told I capture the characters really well, which means a lot to me. I've also been told that my writing is cozy and comforting and fills people with warm fuzzy feelings, which is always nice to hear 🥰
17. What are your writing weaknesses? I will sit there and agonize over the same paragraph trying to make it sound perfect instead of just letting the writing flow, so sometimes a fic will be in the works for a very long time until it's finally ready to be posted (by which time I'm probably sick of it and never want to look at it again 😂)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've dabbled in this a little bit, but it's usually been plot-relevant, like a character learning to speak the language (i.e. when Hunter tried to learn Spanish in Being Human.) When I do write in another language, I always do my best to research and try to get the translations as accurate as possible, and I always include the English translation either in the fic itself or as an author's note so readers don't have to break away from my fic to google anything. (And also so that they know what my intention was, on the off-chance I translated something wrong and accidentally wrote something offensive.) 19. First fandom you wrote for?
Does anyone remember that vampire show that came out back in like 2009? Moonlight? Yeah, that one lol
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? God, that's like asking me to pick my favorite child. Okay fine, it's Until You Meet Someone Who Makes The Fall Feel Like Flying

Pumpkin picking
Sooo this is the fic ive been working on!! It's a silly lil huntlow/hexsquad fic that takes place the day before TTT!! Also it's my first fic posted here, so don't be too harsh pls
---------------------------------------------------
"So, are we there yet?"
"Hunter, this is your third time asking", Amity sighed. "However, are we there yet?"
"Yeah, it's right over this hill!" Luz said. "But i wanna do a dramatic reveal, so you have to climb up the hill first, and i'll show you and you all will gasp!"
"Whatever makes you happy", Amity said. She hasn't seen Luz smiling much in the past couple of weeks, but this brought her so much joy, so Amity didn't mind some theatrics.
Luz stood on the top of the hill, covering most of the field beside it with her arms and body. She was wearing a red shirt with some bats, a black denim jacket, a pair of black shorts, her usual white boots and unmatched striped socks. It was pretty warm for Gracefield that autumn, so she took advantage of that. Luz watched her friends line up in front of her and took a good look at them - they all decide to wear halloweeny outfits for the ocasion.
Amity was wearing and orange turtleneck, a black skirt with buttons and black heeless shoes. She tucked her hair back with a headband, Sabrina Spellman-style, and looked determined(and extremely beautiful). Gus stood next to her, and he was practically shaking with excitement. He dressed up in an orange sweatshirt with a pumpkin face drawn on it, a pair of black jeans and black converse shoes. Hunter slightly calmed Gus by putting his hand on his shoulder. Hunter himself was wearing an orange shirt with another white long-sleeved shirt under it, light blue jeans and a pair of red crocks, which looked horrendous, but Luz was happy that Hunter was discovering his fashion sence(even if it's awful). Willow, who was standing beside him, was rocking a long black dress with many layers. She tied her hair into a small ponytail, and, for some reason, her footwear of choice was a pair of yellow rubber boots. Luz perfectly knew the energy that was sparking between Willow and Hunter - these two, for sure, wanted to hold hands, but couldn't bring themselves to do it. Vee was absent - she said something about dishes to wash, but Luz was pretty sure it was her strange secret fear of pumpkins.
"A-a-and, you can look!", Luz put her hands down, and the gang saw a field of pumpkins.
"This is not as exciting as i expected..." Hunter said.
"This is just as exciting as i expected!", Gus yelled.
"Okay, first we need to split! I'm going with Amity and Gus," Luz said with a sly smile. "And Hunter is going with Willow! Okaythatsitthelastonetogettothefieldisaloser!"
After blurting it out, she grabbed Amity's and Gus' hands and ran down the hill. Hunter and Willow rushed after them. They gave up almost immediately and decided to walk slowly and take their time.
The first minutes alone with Willow were awkward. Her eyes were so green, full of confusion and wonder. She had a beautiful smile on her face. All the orange around them highlighted her black dress. All Hunter could think about is how much he wanted to hold her hand. And all he did was trying to stare at pumpkins, not at her.
But then she said:
"Look, this pumpkin looks exactly like our abomination teacher did after we beat their team at flyer derby!"
That just made Hunter burst out laughing and broke the tension.
"Can we not choose this one then? That guy creeped me out. Maybe we should take that one that looks like a coffee cup."
"A cup of pumpkin spice latte!"
"Exactly!"
"I love pumpkin spice," Willow said, hiding her eyes away. "Maybe we should get some someday. Like, um, just the two of us..."
Hunter knew what that meant - Luz watched all those crappy romcoms all the time, and when one character wanted to date another character, this is exactly what they said. This meant a lot.
Willow wanted to date him.
Willow wanted to date him!
This thought filled Hunter's entire mind and heart. His face was so red he was sure it's actually on fire. Panic overtook him, and the best he could do is say:
"Yea...um...i need to go to...wash my flowers and...sorry..."
He walked away, slowly at first, but then just started running.
What was he running from? A girl he really, really likes liked him back... Maybe that actually was the reason. No one's ever looked at him like Willow. No one talked to him like her - like she knew everything about him, and accepted all of him. And that novelty was scary, even though Hunter knew that-
He tripped and fell on his face. Great. Absolutely what he needed right now.
"Oh my titan, dude, you found the best one!"
It was Gus' voice. Hunter turned around and saw Luz, Amity and Gus. The latter was holding the pumpkin Hunter tripped on.
"I totally agree!" Amity said. "It's big, and tough, and just the right color!"
Willow reached the group. "Does anyone want to ask Hunter if he's okay, guys?"
"I'm fine", Hunter replied. He looked at Willow, who was so worried about him, and still cared deeply about him even after he ran from her, and added: "And yes. I'd love to go with you very much."
"Go...Where?" Luz said, confused.
"It's a long story," Hunter said. He stood up. "Let's grap this pumpkin and head home."
Him and Willow were holding hands the entire trip back.

Thinking again about the way u write huntlow being gayer than like 99% of the m/m fics out there. The way things should be tbh 💛💚🌈 (although would be nice if the m/m fics were gayer)
WOW what an honor! It makes me so happy when I get told I write huntlow very gay. It's very important to me that they are. Thank you SO much!!!!
The m/m fic scene is wonderful and there are writers of that genre who are so delightfully insane and write fic with their own blood and guts. We can never take them for granted.
So I wouldn't say 99%, cuz I've seen so much passion. But I do know what you mean. Years ago, back when I was still into reading fic and got attached to an m/m ship, I had to sift through a lot of cardboard to find good food agsbdjnk

Spider-Man upside down kiss... But make it huntlow if Hunter and Willow met before the events of ASIAS.
I may have drawn something like that (exactly that) on my main blog and yes I'm selfishly asking for a fic... I can't help it I absolutely adore your writing... Your fics are my life force... ❤❤❤💚💛
OMG OF COURSE. I’m sorry the Spiderman references are non existent it’s mainly vibes and fluff
amazing art for reference
Hunter couldn’t help but notice her at the market place, as he was questioning the shop owner about a noise complaint they had issued. She had picked a rather big but lovely pot and was struggling to get a hand free to open the door. Instinctively, he rushed to the door to open it for her, flabbergasted as to why no one else did.
She murmured something he couldn’t quite hear as she struggled to balance the pot which was so large it covered most of her face. Despite the obstruction, Hunter could still tell she was beautiful. Her face was covered with specks of dirt and her hair was littered with twigs, but that didn’t distract from the way her peridot eyes reflected the light that shone through the door as he opened it.
“Oh, here.” He said, reaching out to adjust her glasses which had become askew in her struggles. Her eyes offered gratitude and Hunter suddenly felt hot for some reason. There was something about the way she didn’t act afraid or overly formal of his presence that made the simple action seem even more grand. Maybe she just hadn’t been able to see who he was but regardless he wanted to do a million little things for her, but sadly he had other duties to finish.
When he finally finished what he had come there to do, he had abandoned hope of seeing the girl again. Not that he wanted to. But he should make sure she didn’t require assistance. The Emperor’s Coven was supposed to help all citizens of the Isles, right? He never should have let her leave the shop in the first place!
The next weekend, he found reason to wander by the shop again. There was no reason to, and what were the odds she’d be back again anyway? He got his answer when he opened the door to enter and nearly ran into her standing in the doorway, holding an even bigger pot than last time. Apparently, the odds were very good.
“Oh, uh, watch your step,” he said quietly, holding the door open for her and hovering his hand under the pot to guide her safely down the small steps which she clearly could not see over the flower pot. There were even more twigs in her hair this time. She mumbled something again that Hunter could not hear, and he wondered why she needed another comically large pot so soon.
Normally he’d offer to carry the pot for her, never one to turn down a chance to show off his strength but he suspected the girl was stronger than him and he didn’t want to risk embarrassing himself by not being able to carry it without struggling. Normally he wouldn’t care about what a citizen thought of him but something about her simple mysteries intrigued him. At the very least he could offer her an escort.
He decided to follow her, but she was surprisingly fast even with such a  heavy burden to carry. When he finally spotted her again, she was talking to another girl. Or, rather, the girl was talking to her and not too nicely by the looks of it. Her face was sour as she seemed to prevent the girl from the shop from getting past her for a reason Hunter could not understand. Even under the weight of the large pot, she managed to summon a small vine with her finger to pull the girl from her path, clearly having no time for such foolishness. Hunter laughed at the three-eyed girl’s angered expression, marveling at the way the girl with glasses composed herself. He had to admire her dedication and focus.
The three-eyed girl was less amused, and stomped herself free from the vine and continued her mission to bother the girl from the shop. Taking advantage of her full hands, the mean girl reached forward and removed her glasses, stopping the plant girl in her tracks. Hunter could tell she demanded them back but the bully only laughed at the request before throwing them to the ground. He could tell she considered stepping on them, but changed her mind at the last minute perhaps saving the act of cruelest for the future as she kicked them into the mud before walking away in delight. Hunter could see the girl from the shop struggling to summon another vine to assist her in picking up her glasses, but could not find the right balance. He assumed she did put down the pot out of fear she would accidentally crush her glasses. So Hunter acted as though she was summoning him and rushed to her side to pick them up for her.
He carefully wiped the dirt from them with his cape before deeming them worthy to return to her. He looked up at her confused face, as she squinted at him and smiled, in spite of himself. “I uh think you dropped these.” He said as he slowly leaned in to place them back on her face.
She recognized that voice. It was the same boy who opened the door for her last week. Such a unique voice, she could hardly forget it. She hadn’t gotten a proper look at him last week, she hadn’t even been able to properly thank him. As he came into view, Willow couldn’t help the pink tint that graced her ears when she realized who the owner was. Were her eyes playing tricks on her or was the head of the Emperor’s Coven really adjusting her glasses for the second time that day?
“Sorry, I think the frames are a little dented,” he said, as though he had anything to do with the damage. “I can look into getting them repaired and get them back to you- though wait no you probably need them all the time. They’re not too broken are they?” He asked once they were as balanced as they could be in their current state.
“You’re the Golden Guard,” she said in awe once her vision fully returned.
“What gave it away?” He asked playfully. “Um, sorry about your glasses, by the way.”
She blinked, adjusting to the slightly altered view and half expecting him to vanish as though he was a trick of the light. “It’s okay,” she sighed, as this was not the first time this had happened. “I’ve been meaning to get new frames anyway.”
“Oh well, that’s good,” he said, clearing his throat. “If I may, I think gold frames would suit you nicely.”
“Gold huh?” Willow asked with a smirk. Of course he’d be a fan of the color.
“Yeah, it’d go great with your eyes,” he said, leaning on his staff. “Personally, I’ve always been a fan of green and gold together.”
“Well, it’s nice to have a fan,” she said, using the oversized pot to conceal her blushing face. Did he always do such detailed follow up with the people he helped? Surely such flattery wasn’t a normal part of the Emperor’s Coven. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
“Yeah uh well,” he stood up straight, as though realizing he had gone off script and didn’t have another line prepared. This was quite possibly the longest conversation he had ever had where someone wasn’t trying to get something from him. Willow waited for him to say something else, though she didn’t know what. She wasn’t used to positive attention, thinking surely if he knew the reason why Boscha had thrown her glasses on the ground he would’ve left them there. Or maybe the mask wasn’t the only golden thing about him.
“So, do you have a- woah!” He apparently put too much weight on his staff and he fell to the side, losing his balance and bumping into the pot. He quickly reached out to address the mistake, accidentally touching her hand in the process. Even beneath gloves, the contact proved too much for some reason and he teleported away, leaving Willow confused and grateful and still wondering if she had dreamed the whole thing.
She had heard of the Golden Guard, but he seemed almost too good to be true. She would’ve thought he’d be scary and pompous but it turned out he was actually kind of sweet? He was mysterious too. As she continued her walk she wondered why he wore a mask when none of the other Coven heads did. Was he living some sort of double life? He was around her age, maybe he went to school, did things outside of Coven work. He was a public figure, one of the most powerful witches on the Isles, yet he had taken the time to fix her glasses and compliment her.
She wondered what he had meant to ask her. Probably just her name. But still, she wondered why he would need it. It seemed unlikely the Golden Guard had the time to remember the name of everyone he helped, why would he care so much about a clumsy witch he met in passing?
He had left before she had the chance to thank him.
He had no business to excuse his presence at the shop, but managed to keep it in his sights as he flew patrol from above. Up so high, it was difficult to decipher individual faces but he couldn’t help but feel he’d be able to spot her.
She must have enough flower pots by now, he thought. Not that he cared. But perhaps she was shopping elsewhere today, if she was shopping at all. Not that it mattered.
But he did manage to find her again.
And somehow, much to his dismay, so had the three-eyed girl. He noticed the girl from the shop had with her another large flower pot, somehow even larger than the previous two. This time, she had brought a wagon to help her transport it as this one was nearly as tall as she was. Once again, the other girl seemed bothered by this for some reason.
The shop girl looked more annoyed than frightened, clearly having better things to do than entertain the tyrant. While the three-eyed girl went on about something, the shop girl had taken out her scroll and was reading something, paying no mind to her pursuer. Hunter couldn't help but laugh at the twisted face the girl made when she noticed she wasn’t being paid attention to, the plant witch clearly growing tired of her presence.
The plant witch picked up her wagon handle and moved past the girl, running over her toe with the wheel when she refused to move aside. In retaliation, she reached out and smacked the heavy pot from her wagon and sent it flying towards the ground.
Before Hunter knew what he was doing, he teleported over to where they stood and caught the pot before it hit the ground. The girls gasped at his sudden appearance, one from disappointment the other from astonishment. Hunter was relieved to see which reaction was hers.
“I think you dropped this.” He said in the coolest tone he could muster despite the pot being extremely heavy as he returned it to an upright position. “How funny you seem to keep dropping things.”
“Ugh,” the other girl scoffed, clearly telling by the tone of his voice that he was not amused by her little prank. Instead of apologizing, she rolled all three of her eyes. “It’s a ugly pot anyway, smashing it would be an improvement.”
“Well I happen to find it quite endearing,” he said, trying to seem intimidating to the rude girl but appealing to the one in glasses who he couldn’t take his eyes off of. Thank the Titan for the mask she couldn’t tell he was staring. “Try and be more careful with it? I’m rather fond of it. It’s...pretty.”
“Pretty? Yeah, it’s pretty something alright,” she laughed, clearing thinking he would join her mockery. But he responded with a silence that spoke even louder.
“Were you prepared to reimburse her if the pot did happen to shatter?” he said, summoning the low, serious voice he used to make arrests.
“Oh please, she’s a klutz who will only end up breaking it anyway,”
“I’ll take that as a ‘no,’” he said, cracking his knuckles. “So listen here: from where I’m standing, you’re guilty for several accounts of harassment, public disturbance and damage to personal property. Now, I’m feeling generous today so if you were to apologize to the young lady here I would-.” He turned to where the plant witch stood only to find she had left. “Wait, where did she-?” His eyes darted around and he saw her walking along the path, her wagon behind her. “Hey! Wait up!” He called, vanishing from sight.
Boscha was speechless. Did the Golden Guard just leave in the middle of arresting her to chase after half-a-witch Willow?
He slowed his pace as he got closer, not wanting to appear too eager. He hopped on his staff and tried to act casual as he flew beside the mysterious witch.
“Hey,” he said as charmingly as he could, but she did not respond. He cleared his throat and tried a different approach. “I don’t think she’ll be bothering you again any time soon,” he declared proudly.
“Seems unlikely,” she said, picking up her pace. She expected him to leave, his job was done, but he continued to fly by her side.
“So… what kind of plant are you gonna put in there?” He asked after a moment, too genuinely curious to be cryptic at the moment.
“A Venomous Flytrap,” she said. “The one I have has already outgrown two pots this month.”
That explains all the flower pots, he thought.
“A Venomous flytrap huh?” He was clearly impressed. “That’s a hard plant to maintain, let alone grow into adulthood. I bet that girl wouldn’t have messed with you if you had that in your pot.”
“Are you making fun of me?”
“For what?” He asked genuinely. He had to assume she was the subject of ridicule out of jealousy. Clearly any witch who could handle such a dangerous plant large enough for this pot was talented and capable and showed restraint by not lashing out.
“I dunno, people usually find a reason,” she shrugged, unable to help being somewhat skeptical of his intentions. But at the same time she didn’t want to lose his company.
“Well maybe you just need to spend time with better people,” he said.
“Like you?”
“I mean, people tell me all the time I’m too good of a person.” he said, shifting to lay horizontally on his staff, placing his fist under his cheek as he attempted to seem effortlessly aloof in his flying.
“Oh, he’s modest,” she giggled to her palisman who buzzed in response as she rolled her eyes affectionately. Hunter felt as though he had never heard such genuine laughter in response to something he said. It was addicting.
“Yeah, I’m great at modesty,” he said, not knowing what else to say, only knowing he wanted to say something.
“Clearly,” she laughed. “You’re a man of many talents.”
“That’s me, your friendly neighborhood Golden Guard,” he said, giving her a small salute. “At your service.”
“Well, aren’t I lucky?” she said, a warm feeling bubbling in her chest.
“Well, the Emperor’s Coven is always there to serve you,” he said. “Well, not just you. Everyone. Of course, not just you.”
“Oh, you mean you’re not my personal bodyguard?” she teased giving a fake pout.
“Do you want me to be?”
“Do you think I need one?”
“Well,” he began flying above her and turned upside down so his face was on her level, continuing to showboat his flying skills. “You do have a knack for getting into trouble.”
“Well, maybe you just have a knack for helping me,” she said, spinning her finger playfully at him. “That or I have a golden stalker.”
“It’s my job.”
“Stalking me?” she said with a smug smile, unbothered by the notion.
“I mean, I was in the neighborhood.” He said with a shrug. “But… I was actually kind of hoping I’d run into you again.”
“Why?”
“Just... wanted to make sure you...r pots were safe,” he said, his mouth suddenly dry and his brain screaming. “I meant it when I said they were pretty.”
She stopped and quickly turned on her heel to face him, and he stopped himself before he crashed into her. “Well, aren’t you sweet?” she asked, brushing her hair behind her ear.
“Most people don’t think so.” he said sheepishly. He had never been called sweet in all of his 16 years of living.
“Well, you are.”
“Well, it’s nice to have a fan.”
Something about the way he said that sent a chill up Willow’s spine. She knew he only said it because she had, but not far beneath the surface of the sentence she could tell there was a touch of sincerity. She knew nothing about this boy and yet he made her feel special. Seen. Bold.
In Willow’s experience, people only used this tone for two things: mockery and flirting. And if he truly wasn’t mocking her, then that meant…
Willow tried not to read too much into it. Surely flirting was a way he passed the time on dull uneventful days. With a mask to hide behind it just be easy to speak without consequences. Calling his bluff was simply too tempting.
“This is my house,” she said, gesturing  with her head. “Looks like your mission was a success.”
“Oh, yeah,” he said, wishing she lived further away. “So I guess… I should be going then.”
Willow smiled at the disappointment in his voice and took a deep breath before summoning the courage to speak her next sentence. “Well, can I at least give you a proper thank you this time?”
“Oh, actually we’re not allowed to accept tips.” He said modestly, viewing her company as thanks enough.
“Well lucky for you, buying this oversized flower pot ate the rest of my allowance,” she said with a sigh as though it was a great injustice of the world. “So look like I’ll have to find another way to express my gratitude.”
She stepped closer to him and Hunter forgot how to breathe as Willow placed her hands carefully on his mask. Despite its shine, she was surprised to see how many scratch marks it had, as though it was a cutting board. She slowly pulled it down just before his nose, exposing his lips which were pursed in a confused expression.
“What are you-?”
She tilted her head to the side, seeing if he’d pull away but instead he waited. She was close enough to see he was holding his breath and she took delight in his anticipation.
She noticed he had a gap tooth and it made her smile. It was adorable. She imagined him fighting back a lisp to ensure the crispness with which he delivered his noble words. Such a thin mask carried such a large persona, yet she felt as though she could see right through it if she just stood close enough.
She rose to her tip toes and leaned forward and gently pressed her lips to his. With one hand she held his mask in place and the other she placed gently on his cheek. Hunter tightened his grip on his staff, certain he’d fall off and ruin the moment. It wasn’t a long kiss, but Hunter still managed to kiss her back, lest she think her gratitude was expressed in an unwanted way. The blood rushed to his head and he had a feeling that would be the case even if he wasn’t upside down.
As soon as she pulled away and returned his mask to its proper place, he vanished from sight before she could say anything more. She stood in place for a moment, processing what had just happened. She hoped the vanishing was due to a prior commitment and not because she had done something wrong. But he had proven he did not hesitate to speak up when he felt something was wrong, so hopefully the fact that he had moved closer to kiss her easier wasn’t all in her mind.
Hunter watched her from behind a nearby tree, his heart racing as he scanned her face for a trace of regret or disgust. He did not see one and chose to end their interaction on that note. He couldn’t risk her finding out he wasn’t as cool as he led her to believe.
Willow shook herself out of her daze and picked up her wagon handle to head inside, the moment replaying in her head. She didn’t know how to explain what had just happened, and didn’t linger to read too much into us as she had an irritable and hungry plant to attend to inside. She would probably never see him again anyway, and who would ever believe her if she told them?
She didn’t even know his name. But she hoped she would have a chance to thank him again soon.

Fandom song animatic tournament: Bracket 2 Side A
Stray Italian Greyhound - Vienna Teng
"I'm not that kind I'm so good at shooting down any notion This tired world could change It's all been bought Well at least that was my line No use in spending all that emotion when there's someone else to blame"
No Children (I hope we both die) - The Mountain Goats
"I am drowning There is no sign of land You are coming down with me Hand in unlovable hand And I hope you die I hope we both die"
Remember that we're voting on how Iconic they are for ANIMATICS, not for the song itself. In order to make things fair, the tone and mood of the song should not affect how iconic it is (for example, a serious song should not be considered more iconic than a joke song just because it's serious)
Propaganda and animatic links of the songs under the cut:
Stray Italian Greyhound - Vienna Teng
Propaganda:
arguably got a decent amount of people into the magnus archives fandom and its a banger
Animatics with the song:
The Owl House Huntlow Animatic
The Magnus Archives
Good Omens
Our Flag Means Death
Pokemon Legends Arceus AU
The Owl House Lumity Animatic
No Children (I hope we both die) - The Mountain Goats
Propaganda:
cmon. its no children. its AMAZING. the VIBES... the LYRICS.....
You're not a real fandom un til you have "hand in unloveable hand" as the title for every other ao3 fic
Not only is this song, like, objectively really really good, but it's been absolutely put through the ringer in terms of fan creations.
There's a video online somewhere of a whole group of people singing it alongside the person who made it (i think its just audio which makes it hit harder tbh) and it fucks me up so bad actually. like its a whole community of people rejoicing and in its own sense that's beautiful but the fact that its this song of all things is so depressing yet unifying at the same time it gives me so many emotions
AND IIIII HOPE WHEN YOU THINK OF ME YEARS DOWN THE LINE YOU CANT FIND ONE GOOD THING TO SAY AND I HOPE IF I FOUND THE STRENGTH TO WALK OUT YOUD STAY THE HELL OUTTA MY WAYYYYYYY I AM DROWNING!!!!!! THERE IS NO SIGN OF LAND!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE COMING DOWN WITH ME!!!!!!!! HAND IN UNLOVEABLE HAND!!!!!!!!!!! AND I HOPE YOU DIE! I HOPE WE BOTH DIE
It makes people make animatics about divorce/divorce-adjacent situations, which makes it swag and awesome!
Animatics with the song:
The Owl House Alador Animatic
Don't Hug Me I'm Scared
BNHA
Mob Psycho 100 Mob and Reigen Animatic
Bojack Horseman
DSMP Quackity and Schlatt Animatic
Please be cautious and read the title, description and warning cards on the animatic videos if you decide to watch them. If you've got specific triggers I'd recommend even more caution when watching animatics of fandoms you don't know, since sometimes canon-typical themes don't get warnings.
Please keep in mind that I don't know all the media and fandoms of the animatics provided as examples and I don't have the time (nor the will) to research them all. Don't come into my notes or my ask box complaining about them being included, I will simply block you. If a ship animatic included is about an adult and a minor, do tell me and I'll take it out of the post
ALSO keep in mind that I don't know all the artists submitted; in fact, even if I do know them I do not know absolutely nothing about them as people (I do not have twitter nor tiktok) and I could not POSSIBLY have the time to research ALL of the artists' controversies and what came of them so PLEASE don't flood my inbox with the artists' entire crime list.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Was digging through my tumblr notifs and totally forgot I was tagged in this oops 😅
Thank you @fairytales-and-folklore for tagging me 🥰🥰
tagging @halcyonhue @sharksinflowercrowns @slightecho
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
20!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
106,520. I think that's pretty good!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
The Owl House. (specifically, Huntlow.) Although once upon a time I wrote Percy Jackson!
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Green (Like Jealousy) my magnum opus
Blushes Bloom Like Flowers all fluff
What are the chances? human au!
'Pretty' : Day 6, Scars Huntlow Week!
Golden Hour: Day 5, First Kiss/Gardening Huntlow Week!
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! I always appreciate when someone takes the time to write a comment. Whenever I enjoy a fic I always try to do the same, although I should be doing it more than I am lol.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I think A Very Royal Menace, And Her Poor Knight's Attempts to Not Lose His Job? I don't know if it's really angsty, but it was based on an idea that @sharksinflowercrowns had of a princess/knight au and I really ran with the pining. I don't really count it as angsty because it really is just like a snapshot of that story and they live happily ever after because I can't not have happy endings. Can't promise any official continuations but there ya go.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Again, I like always write happy endings, but I think Flapjacks in the Morning is the happiest because it's like, all fluff and good feelings and they eat pancakes at the end.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really, sometimes I get rather vague comments that I *think* are well-intentioned or complimentary but also are kind of...ominous. All appreciative tho!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Wouldn't you like to know? /s
In all seriousness, not sure if I will ever get to it (maybe that bug with bite me someday, who knows) but if I do it would be super sweet, fluffy and sappy (and spicy lol) because that's all I do lol.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I have not, I think the closest I'd get to something like that would be AU's of one story/setting that I would put another group of characters in, like a pacific rim AU or star wars, etc.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, not that I know of at least 😅
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not co-written, but I am the beta/editor for rachelrosemary’s fic The Kissing Project! and she has helped me with a bunch of mine as well!
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Huntlow it's Huntlow.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Mm. Burning Sage. I was really ambitious when I started it but didn't plan it as well as I should have. It burnt me out too quickly and I don't think I will ever touch this high fantasy witch AU again, sorry. (But again, even with the angst it would have had a happy ending)
16. What are your writing strengths?
I think I am pretty good with characterization? I get a lot of comments about that at least! And I've gotten some compliments on my prose when experimenting with writing styles once upon a time
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I was never a writer really, so I think my phrasing can end up awkward or vague because it doesn't convey what I intended. Rachel has helped with that tremendously however! I also struggle with dialogue not infrequently.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I have not done this yet, but I would include it if needed. I am not fluent in any language other than English so I would probably resort to looking it up and doing my best to make sure it was accurate for like, a handful of lines if I needed to.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Percy Jackson! I had like two or three percabeth fics I posted on wattpad like, twelve years ago. I'm sure they are still there lol.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Hmmmm...right now I want I'll Be Falling, Without Caution to get some love so go read that! It's a cute post-canon oneshot focusing on Hunter and Willow getting ready to get back into flyer derby by practicing together ALOOONE and cuteness ensues. Super fluffy and mutual losering/pining.
I found this is in my drafts from weeks ago so you're all getting this now! ta-da!

Putting my writing hat back in the ring!
I went on a hiatus from my writing for nearly a year. But I am finally in a place where I feel comfortable enough to write again! I have many incomplete projects that I still feel passion for, so hopefully I can start posting them soon.
What's to come? None of them have official titles yet, but here is a current word count for them and a small sneak peak of (nearly) each fic! Below will be Danganronpa and The Owl House (including my Human AU). I also have Naruto fanfic ideas, however those have yet been started.
Link to my AO3
Danganronpa
Stardew Valley inspired, Farmer Taka centric - Total words so far: 4.8k
“I’m kind of, like, clairvoyant.” the man shrugged, though Taka highly doubted the statement. “I had a feeling your fate was intertwined with mine the moment you stepped on the bus, dude! I’m Yasuhiro Hagakure, but since we’re going to be neighbors you can call me Hiro. Pleasure, my guy!”
The driver- Hiro, as they had just been introduced, stuck out a hand towards Taka, his eyes were still glued on the road. Taka took it firmly, a smile on his face. “It is lovely to meet your acquaintance, Hiro. My name is Kiyotaka Ishi–” he hesitated, mouth left open like a fish and hand gripping a bit tighter on the other. “Ishido. However, you may refer to me as Kiyotaka.”
“Right on.” Hiro took his hand back, not questioning Taka’s momentary panic. “We should be pulling up to the bus stop soon. I can show you where the mayor is and he’ll take it from there. Chill dude, but real stern.”
Leon and Mondo centric - Is Kiyotaka Ishimaru cheating on Mondo?! - Total words so far: will be rewritten, so no sneak peak for this one!
Single Father Taka centric - Ishimondo - Total words so far: 11.7k
“Hold the fuck up,” Fuyuhiko paced the living room along side Taka, hands behind his back and eyes staring at the ground. “so you’re saying you had sex with some random bitch when you were out doing what- the fuck- ever, and now you have a Goddamn baby?”
“Yes, Kuzuryu. That is quite literally what I told you, disregarding your distasteful words.”
“Now’s not the time to be smart with me, Ishimaru. There’s a baby in your house, and its mother is nowhere to be found. What are you going to do with it?”
Taka huffed and bit his lip, picking at his fingernails. He was making his cuticles bleed, but he could hardly put in the effort to care, “I would appreciate it if you stopped calling her an ‘it’.”
“Ishimaru!” Fuyuhiko stopped his pacing to grab the front of Taka’s shirt, making him look down at the short man, “Stop harping at me! What are you going to do with the Goddamn baby?!”
The Owl House
He's a Bit of a Fixer Upper inspired, Huntlow - Total words so far: 1.1k
“No,” Amity crossed her arms, “I’m being honest. Hunter,” her voice got lower, as if trying to keep what she’s about to say a secret, “uses the bathroom in the woods, Willow. Isn’t that gross to you?”
Willow frowned and shifted her eyes towards Vee, as if trying to think about a situation that Amity might know that from. When realization hit her, her eyes creased amusingly, “Amity, all boys pee in the woods. Gus does it all the time, too. I’m pretty sure they’ve gone together before.”
“I used to, too!” Luz announced as she came back, having heard Willow in the hallway, “When you gotta go, you gotta go!”
Luz sat back down next to Amity, who wanted to gag, “You can’t be serious, that’s so disgusting.”
Her girlfriend wrapped an arm around Amity’s shoulder, “I don’t do it anymore, but there’s nothing wrong with Hunter peeing in the woods.”
“Can we stop saying the word pee, please?!”
My human AU
How Lumity got together, once upon a time - Total words so far: 1.4k
Luz, the ever perfect tattoo apprentice to Eda Clawthorne, a well known (famous, Luz always says, even if it might be infamously so based on her rather anarchist personality) artist all across the coastal county, agreed to watching the Clawthorne-Whispers family dog today so that they could have a grand ol’ time at the carnival.
“I’ll go the second day.” Luz had said, waving off Eda’s question on if Luz would be able to make it. “No big deal! It’ll still be there!”
Well, yes, the carnival will still be there. But Amity would not be.
“Vee.” Luz whined, sitting up on her knees and interlocking her own fingers together to plead with her twin. Vee sighed and put a hand on her hip, cocking her knee out to watch the groveling comfortably. “It’s for love.”
“What about my lovelife?” Vee argued, raising an eyebrow with challenge. “You think Masha’s going to give me another shot if I blow this off a third time?”
The previously teased birthday celebration for Hunter - Total words so far: 2.7k
“Steve sounds cool.” Willow commented, letting Hunter know that she was there, and she was listening to him.
“He was.” Hunter agreed. “I hadn’t seen him in years. I think he moved back home, I don’t know.”
“Have you tried to reach back out?” Willow asked, suppressing the yawn that wanted to leave her mouth. She didn’t want him to see that she was tired, not yet. “What’s his last name? Maybe he has a Facebook.”
Hunter stared at his bedsheets for a few moments, thinking so hard that Willow was sure that there was smoke coming out of his ears that weren't visible through the phone camera. “I… can’t recall.”
“Really?” Willow teased, a smirk spreading across her face, “but you remember everything.”
Hunter didn’t smile back, which felt like a weight on Willow’s stomach. Okay, so this wasn’t a good moment to mess with him. Maybe he was more vulnerable than she thought right now. She wished she could take it back, “I don’t remember a lot from back then.”

Willow asks Hunter about the grimwalker thing for a writing prompt
Eyes loving him...
Show: The Owl House
Ship: Hunter x Willow (Huntlow)
Words: 7353
First of all I KNOW THIS IS TOO LATE, I'M SORRY but i had tests and other university's shit, whatever, secobd of all: I know this wasn't... Like, what anon requested, anon said "Willow asks Hunter about the grimwalker thing" and I did... A lot of things that aren't that, yeah, that's why I never finish my fics, like Rina Sawayama said: "Yeah, I want more, more, more...", whatever, HUNTLOW FIC EVERYBODY
:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
There was a noisy mess happening upstairs that woke Willow up. She looked around her and saw everyone sleeping in the living room of that old house.
When they arrived the demon realm they found out that the portal left them in the woods of the Boiling Isles, so, it was easy, they only had to walk until find other witches, right? Well, no. Hunter and Amity started an argument about which plan they should follow, if they were going to fly to bonesborough like Amity said, or hide in a tree till the sunrise, like Hunter said. Hunter also said that Amity's plan was the same as go to find Belos and stick his own claws in their chests themselves, while Amity said that Hunter's plan sucked just like him.
"I'm serious about this, Hunter!" she said, "I need to find my family! I don't even know what that sadistic monster did to them!" Amity tried to make a point about her cause being more important, and she looked very worried about it.
"Oh, Amity..." Willow put a hand in her shoulder trying to comfort her, "Don't worry, I'm sure The Collector didn't hurt them..."
"The Collector?" Amity asked confused, "I was talking about my mother!"
Camila was trying to make them get well while Luz was trying to talk about her own plan: go to the Owl House, rest, and then prepare themselves to kick some bad guys's butts.
And there were Willow and Gus, a little far away from them, talking about their friend. Talking about him being different. Talking about what he did to him. Talking about how much they love him. And talking about the ways to help him that they had to find.
"He is... A grimwalker..." she whispered, not sure if she had to say it, but she needed to talk about it, she needed to take the thought away from her chest, "Like... Like the myth?..."
Gus looked at her with guilt in his eyes, "Yes, I know... I had known for a while now..." he closed his eyes not wanting to confront her.
Willow's mouth opened in surprise, definitely she was hurt by it, she thought that they had something special between the three of them, but maybe she was wrong and Hunter and Gus's bond was stronger that whatever they had, 'It makes sense, actually' she tried to convince herself, "What? He told you?" her eyebrows frowned, don't think that she was mad at them or something like that, the feelings in his mind and heart were beyond that, confusion and pain were the closer words to describe them. "When?"
"Well, he didn't tell me... I..." Gus played with his hands, he was nervous and a little embarrassed, then he sighed and touched the little artefact in his ear, "I saw Belos memories back in the Day of Unity... And I saw everything..." he looked down.
Willow let go the air in her lungs that her heart didn't let them release, at least their best friends didn't let her out. "Do you mean...?" she looked at Hunter and Amity arguing. Then Hunter touched his shirt with an offended look and protective behaviour... Oh, Amity finally saw the wolves. Willow rolled her eyes, thinking that she didn't have to be mean and ruin this to him. At least she looked sorry for whatever she had said.
"Everything, Willow..." their gazes meet again when he rose his head, "I'd been trying to talk with him about it, but he found it recently, when he went to..."
"Belos's mind?" Willow gasped, it was easy for her to connect the dots.
"Exactly, and I guess that's why he didn't tell us... He didn't even have enough time to assimilate it..." they both looked at Hunter, "He looked so nervous whenever I mentioned it, and I think that he was hurt too..." his voice cracked.
Willow looked at Hunter, he was walking towards Luz, maybe looking for her 'sister' to be by his side. Willow watched the new scars in his arms, visible even in the dark, and felt shivers in her shoulders and back. She noticed his hair moving at the beat of his steps, the hair that he asked her to cut after a breakdown now was longer enough to move with him, and she didn't know why, but her blood started boiling.
Then Willow looked at her hands, Hunter almost dies in them. The memories of Hunter's still body in her arms were so fresh that they stunk and were sticky like rotten paint in a moldy wall. It was normal, that happened some minutes before, she was gonna be okay, they were gonna go away someday, maybe with hope and new paint, after all, Hunter was alive... Thanks to him... She tried to stop feeling bad about what happened to that little bird, he should have stayed alive but if it wasn't for his sacrifice... What they were gonna do? Wait for his death? No, that was not gonna happened, never on her or Camila's watch. Then what? Take him to a human "hospital"? What they were gonna tell to the humans "doctors" about his pointy ears? About his scars? About his... About him being...?
Luz's single two words came to her mind, and they hit her heart again, "Luz was the one who told us, not him..." Willow's eyes started to burn, "T-that's not... Fair."
"It's not..." Gus said right after he had taken a deep breath, "He is... The clon? Of Caleb, the dead brother of Belos."
"Caleb?" she asked at the air, that name sounded familiar, she felt like it did when she first listened it from Masha earlier. Gus nodded, and Willow sighed, "D-do you think... He knows we know?"
"I don't know, I think we have to wait him..." Gus shut up when the others came over to where they were. Camila finally made them agree with one plan, that was a mix of each plan.
So at the end they walked till find a place to stay at least until they could save enough energy. They took some breaks here and there, specially for Hunter (but they didn't say it because pretend that he was fine is his favorite sport, even if he's bad at it). Finally, they found a village at the sunrise, they had never been there, Hunter found it familiar but that was it, maybe he went there in one of his missions, but the Titan was big after all.
The place was empty, an actual ghost town that gave them a bad feeling, something happened around there but nothing said that it was a recent event, in fact, the town seemed to be abandoned since years ago, and they were too tired to look around for answers, so after another discussion they decided to stay in one house that wasn't falling apart.
And now we are here again, with Willow waking up at some weird noises. Maybe it wasn't something bad... Maybe it was a wild animal or an inoffensive little demon that get in through a broken window or something, she should go, making sure that it wasn't something dangerous for the others, that by the way didn't notice the noise and were sleeping deeply, she thought that it was better that way, until she realized: Hunter wasn't there.
Okay, so he heard the sounds before her and was already looking for the source. Or maybe he was the little wild animal making a mess. Or he might has another meltdown and was ruining his beautiful hair again. But... What if Belos found him again and...?
She ran upstairs as fast as she could, with a sleepy Clover in her hands, she felt sorry for the little (big?) bee, but this was important. When she finally found the room where the mess was, she took a deep breath and opened the door bravely.
"Hunter!" she yelled fearing the worst, but only found him lying in a bath with an arm over his eyes, while a lot of old broken things were in the floor, "Oh, Hunter..."
So he was in the bathroom, 'Not again' she thought.
"Did I woke you up?" he asked, sounding more tired than ever, "Of course I did! I am such an idiot." he let out a sour laugh.
"No, you are not." she entered the room and walked by his side, pushing all the things out of the way with her feet. There were some broken tiles from the floor and the walls, two moldy toothbrushes and little pieces of broken glass from dusty potion bottles that he must had broken.
"Yes, I am." he took his arm away from his face and looked at her. She still hasn't gotten used to his maroon eyes, they took away her breath for a lot of reasons, "I-I... It was an accident..."
"I know..." she reached his hand, trying to comfort him and giving him space at the same time.
"I just wanted to see how they looked..." Hunter touched the biggest scar in his face, while a tear slipped down the other cheek, "Why didn't you tell me that I have his eyes?" he raised his shaky voice a little, it was the pain talking.
"I'm sorry... I just didn't think that you needed it..." her other hand went to his cheek so she could wipe the tear.
"No, no, no..." he took away her hand from his face, and didn't realised it, but squeezed it tenderly, "Please don't be, it's not your fault," Hunter said before realizing what he was doing with her arm and stop it, and then he hugged his legs instead, "It was an accident, I promise, I just move my hand and it push that bottle and it fell."
Willow helped him to sit up, "It's fine, those things could happen," she sat at the border of the bath, not thinking of how gross it was, taking his hand in hers, "besides, they were empty and old anyway..."
"But the others... I knew what I was doing when I broke them..." he looked her in the eyes and she noticed the fear in them, fear of her reaction, fear of disapointing her, fear of losing her, "I was so mad and I just... Sorry, that was stupid, sorry..." he covered his face with hands.
Willow felt bad about it, sorry for what? He didn't hurt her or anything, she even wasn't in the room. After all these months with love and care in his life, he still had his old habits, and fearing for his life for whatever mistake he had made was one of those. She opened the cabinet under the lavatory and then she found them. It was fate? Maybe, it was a good thing that she was the one who find them and not Hunter, though. Willow put those scissors in the sink and then took the thing that she was originally looking for: another bottle.
Hunter got up in surprise when she threw it at the floor, "What the heck, Willow?!"
"Ups!" she shrugged, "Oh no! I guess we have to share the guilt now." she pouted dramatically.
Hunter chuckled but he still had that sour look in his eyes, "So sad, now we both are bad guys, Luz it's gonna come to kick our butts" Willow laughed and he felt something warm in his mind and chest, at least there were still some good things in his life. "But this is not about the bottles," he got up outside the bathtub, sitting at the border, he grabbed and squeezed his right arm with the other hand, and he bit his lip not knowing if he should say what was in his mind, but after one look at her eyes he did it unwittingly, "I... I miss him" Hunter whispered.
Willow didn't say anything not knowing what words could make it better, maybe they didn't exist. Instead, she walked in front of him and after looking him in the eyes she extended her arms and involved him in her embrace. Hunter didn't return the hug, but he rested his head in her shoulder accepting it.
"I think... That he's still with me... In some way," he said, his voice starting cracking from now on, "Is that weird?"
She tighted the hug and rubbed a hand up and down his back, "It's not, actually, I think it's cute..." she replied with a soft tone.
He chuckled sourly, "It would be cuter if he was actually here." he pressed his forehead more into her shoulder.
"I know," she said trying to erase all the sadness in his tone, "But at least you are here with us," she pulled away from him and put her hands in his shoulders, "I want to think about that..."
"Well, maybe..." he pressed his lips, not looking her in the eyes "Maybe I shouldn't..." he looked away.
"What?" the confusion in her face turned into panic once she understood, "D-don't say that! Hunter...!"
"I wasn't serious!" he stopped her before things get out of hands, "I just... I just don't know, okay?!" he yelled crossing his arms, still not looking her, "I-it... It was... I shouldn't let him did that to him!" he got up making her step back, "He used my body and I did not stop him, I could have fought back, I should have fought back once he took him in his... In my hand" he looked down to that hand, it had a sigil that almost killed him one time and it was full of scars that almost killed him another.
"That wasn't your fault..." she reached his shoulders with her hands again, "Belos shouldn't posses you in the first place, in fact, there's a lot of things that he shouldn't have done."
Hunter rubbed the sigil and finally looked at her, "Maybe you are right," he sighed, "That's what I told Luz after all, he is the problem, not her."
"And you either," she rubbed her hands up and down his shoulders and arms, "When you..." she stopped herself, not wanting to say it, not wanting to trigger her own tears, but she knew she had to at some point and this was a good moment, "When you jumped in the lagoon," Hunter's body became tense and he wide opened his eyes, "I-I thought... You were in my arms! You almost died in my arms!" arms that now were starting to shake.
"I'm sorry..." Hunter rushed to say.
Willow froze in her place for a moment, until she realized what he said, "N-no... No! You don't have to be sorry for dying!"
"But it was my fault..." he started to play with his hands, feeling the guilt in his heart.
"What? No! You didn't have control of your body! Belos was the one who possessed you, he jumped in that lagoon, why that would be your fault?" she asked confused, but he didn't answer, instead, he got away from her, turned around and looked himself in the mirror, ignoring her, "Hunter?" her confusion raised, "Why... Why that would be your fault?..." Hunter put his hands on the lavatory and looked down, the realization hit Willow followed by panic, "Hunter, don't tell me that you..." she heard him starting to sob and that was her confirmation, "Oh my Titan..." escaped from her lips before she could cover them with her hand and then the tears started falling.
Hunter covered his face, he was ashamed, and scared, and disapointed, and... And... So mad at Belos. And so mad at himself for making that girl cry. He wanted to do something, he wanted to say something, but his body didn't answer, and the only thing that it wanted to do was cry, so he cried, cried out loud, pressing his teeth, pulling his hair, and being hugged by Willow. He looked down, her arms were involved tightly around his waist and her head rested in his chest. It felt... Warm, nice and comfortable, it felt like that was the place where he belonged, between her arms, but she was crying and he was too, and that was wrong. She was comforting him, so he did the same with a hand in her head.
"Please never do that again..." she said, squeaking and sobbing, "Were you really gonna leave me?" she looked up to him. When Hunter saw her face, red, swollen, and full of tears, and he felt a crack in the stone that he had instead of a heart. He thought that he was right when she entered the room, he was such an idiot. The tears fell from his eyes harder before he denied with his head, he was lying, he didn't really know the answer to her question but he did know that he didn't want to leave her, and maybe that was enough.
Willow felt how his arms involved her head, and only could hear how his cries were getting louder. After some minutes, they both calmed a little and she said: "When you were in my arms I thought that I needed you..." that surprised him, so he pulled away from her to look her in the eyes, those hurt eyes of her... "The only thing that was in my mind was that I needed you to survive, we needed you in our lives," she smiled and cupped his face in her shaky hands "I need you in my life, Gus needs you in his life, Luz, Camila, and even Amity and Vee needs you in their lives, and I don't know what the heck we would do if you didn't..." she stopped herself, wiped her tears and took a deep breath, "That's why, in fact, you should have survived, that's why I will be in debt with Flapjack all my life, he let me keep you with me."
Hunter needed some seconds to react, first his face turned red, and second he started to giggling while wiping his tears, when he finished Willow was smiling at him. He finally felt like he could talk again. "Well, I'm also in debt with him, for a lot of things but..." he looked at her face, that still was red and swollen like her eyes, and damn, that face still was a masterpiece in his eyes after all, he became kind of nervous, "b-but yes... Yes, that is one thing, stay... Stay with you... With you all!" Hunter said doing his best, she giggled so he thought that he had succese, and then he took the freedom of grab her arms tenderly, making sure that her hands wouldn't leave his face, he needed that comfort. Also, she was smiling and looked so pretty like that.
Her smile faded one second to another, and before he could ask one of her hands slid slowly from his cheek to the back of his neck, touching his skin all the time which gave him a weird mix of shivers and tickles, making him blush and laugh stepping back from her roughly.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" she giggled, "Sorry! I just was trying to... To..." she touched her own hair and he understood her signs.
"O-oh! Yes, I saw it." Hunter touched his mullet, playing with some locks, "I-I don't know why it grew so fast..." he looked himself in the mirror, and then, looked at her reflection, "Umh... Do you like it?" his tone became a little shy.
Willow looked at him in the mirror, getting closer, "Do you?" she asked, seeing how the doubt grew in his face. He denied with his head, thinking in how much he loved the short haircut, in how much he looked like himself with it but now, he was just what Belos did. Willow smiled and took the scissors from the lavatory, "Then, would you like a new and old look?"
The scissors were old, but they didn't look like if the former owner had used them a lot, like Hunter's haircut, they were old and new, so they should work. Hunter smiled, bright and with a little blush in his cheeks, "I think I do."
This time was different. Now Hunter was quieter, he still was nervous but now he wasn't at the edge of a heart attack, and his hair wasn't ruined by his shaky hands, so it was easier for Willow to not mess up or lose time trying to fix his mistakes.
His hair was soft like the last time though, and the blush in his face was the same if it wasn't even bigger, and he still was sitting in the toilet seat and giving her nervous looks here and then, like if he wanted to talk, to ask her something, to listen her voice. But she also had questions for him.
When she mentioned the lagoon incident, she didn't want to talk only about Belos. She didn't know if it was right, after all they just had a really heavy conversation, a conversation with two hugs and tears, that's how heavy it was. And the grimwalker talk could wait, could wait a lot of time actually, they just had to look for something to eat and then keep walking till find civilization in some hours, and also they had to fight Belos and who-knows-what thing that comes along with him, and also there's the Collector, and also they still had to find their families. And she had to find her parents, parents that after all this mess will ground her for 30 years because she had escaped to another realm for months and no answer their calls once all that time.
"So... I think that there's another thing that we should talk about," she noticed how he tensed, she needed to calm him down, "Don't worry, it's just something that you didn't tell me yet, and I think it's time." that didn't work, in fact, he became more rigid even.
"W-what?! No, there is nothing... I'm not keeping secrets!" he yelled, like someone who actually do keep secrets from her. She chuckled, combing his hair with his fingers so he could relax a little.
"You aren't?" she said in a flirty tone and raising an eyebrow, then she leaned to be closer to his face, "Are you sure?" she played a little with him, but when he denied frantically she stopped, he was sweating by now, "Don't be scared, I'm not mad, you have the right to have your secrets, I also have mine," Willow winked saying the last words, and he squeaked, "but we are friends, and I want you to know that you can tell me about that," she smiled and he realized that it was all the same, he still was at the edge of a heart attack.
"No, I don't have secrets!" his voice was higher than ever, "Even if you have your secrets, that I don't care about! Of course, they are yours, only yours, I don't want to know and..." her laugh interrupted him.
"Hunter! It's okay!" she crouched down in front of him, letting the scissors in the lavatory again, the haircut wasn't finished but it could wait, "I... Talked with Gus about this..." she said being serious this time.
"That little..." he murmured, "... Traitor".
"And he told me that this wasn't a topic easy for you, but you don't have to be afraid, not of me, I swear." she took one of his hands and squeezed it.
"Not of you?" his ears were burning.
"Of course not! I won't judge you for this, i never will, specially with you, you are too important to me for that." she not only smiled, but also gave him one of those looks with the heart eyes that she only have for him, he was going to explode.
"W-well, that makes sense..." he pulled from the collar of his own shirt, now his neck was burning too, "Oh m-my... Why it's so hot in here? Aren't you hot? Ha, of course you ar...! Wait! No! I mean you are but I wasn't..." he covered his mouth with his hand before he could embarras himself even more.
Willow was stunned, but just giggled a little and let him be, after all, he wasn't wrong, "Oh, look at you, you are so nervous!" she got up and cupped his face in her hands, "And red, and... Sweaty..." she said while her hands were leaving his face, she cleaned them in his shirt, "I guess you won't talk, right? You don't have to but... I think it's for the best..." she sighed and waited for his answer.
He didn't know what to do, because a lot of feelings were fighting to death in his belly and he wasn't sure of which one should win. He definitely didn't want to talk about it yet, he wasn't ready even after months of knowing why he felt all this funny things when Willow was doing simple things like existing, for example. But also, just like her he knew that maybe this was the last time that they could just talk with calm about this kind of things, they didn't know what the future had for them.
He nodded with enthusiasm, closing his eyes, "I-I do want to talk about it, but... I'm scared of what this will mean for us..." his hands were starting to shake, Willow noticed that.
"Oh, Hunter..." she took his hands, "Don't worry, this won't change anything between us, we are still gonna be friends, I just want you to tell me about this." she smiled softly at him.
Hunter frizzed in his place, even his hands stopped shaking, he was tense and Willow noticed, it was something that she said? She thought that that would make him feel safe? What did she do? "Friends?" he asked, with a shaky smile, that kind of smile that he force in his face when he is suffering a lot but have to pretend that everything was just fine, that worried her. Hunter looked down, not able to look at her, and put his hands in his hair, "O-of course! Friends! I-I wasn't... Wasn't expecting anything else, why the fuck I would expect anything else after all the sh..." he stopped once he realized the words that he used, he looked at her mouth and eyes opened in disbelief and got ashamed, "Language! I know! I'm sorry! It's just..." Willow's laugh interrupted him.
"You can swear in front of me! I'm not Camila or Darius," she laughed, "I'm just not used to it."
"No, I shouldn't swear, I shouldn't... Freak out, it's fine, I'm fine," he gave her this sad smile.
Willow sighed, confused by his reaction, but she had an idea of why it happened. She took the scissors again and continued with her job, "What you expected of me?" she said making him sigh, "You thought that I would hate you for it or something?" her fingers touched his hair in such a tender way that he almost forgot about his heavy heart sinking in his stomach.
"Well, that was an option, sure," his eyes were burning, and he hated it, he shouldn't cry for this, she wanted to be his friends and that was more than what he could wish some months ago, and also, it's not like he would know what to do if she wanted him too, actually, the only thing that he could think to do was everything. He let some tears go, wishing that she couldn't see them.
"I will never hate you, Hunter," she said, wiping one of his tears with her free hand, he made sure to remember how her touch felt, it was magic, just like her.
"Thank you, Willow," he whispered wiping the rest of the tears, and smiling, thinking of how much he loved her and always will, no matter what.
"Because you are amazing! You are one of my best friends, and you had done a lot for me and for us!" Willow yelled involving his shoulders in her arms, making him look at her with a lovely smile, wanting to tell her with his eyes that he thought the same of her, she broke the hug and continued with the haircut, "So what if you are a grimwalker? That doesn't matter, if that's what gave you the life then it's great, you shouldn't be scared of us knowing it!" she was almost finishing with his hair, when he got up abruptly, he was lucky enough that she was able of get away the scissors before they could hurt him, "Hunter!"
"I am a what?" Hunter asked, voice shaking almost as if he just saw a ghost, "I am a what, Willow?" he got away from her.
"A... Grimwalker? That's what I was talking about... I-I thought you knew..." she said with caution, realizing slowly that she messed it up.
"What the..." he was outraged, thinking that this was a nightmare, first she rejected him and now she knows that he is a grimwalker? "How?! Belos told you?! Of course he told you, he always has to ruin my life in one way or another!"
"Hunter! Hunter!" Willow walked in front of him and took him by the shoulders, "This won't ruin anything! I just told you that I will never hate you for this! You are..."
"No! You don't understand, Willow," he shouted, getting away from her again, "I'm not just a grimwalker, I'm his grimwalker!"
"Do you mean...?" he interrupted her.
"Belos's brother! I'm a copy of his fucking brother, a witch-hunter, Willow! He said that he did it so we could finish his work, he-"
"I know, Gus told me" she interrupted him, putting her hands in his shoulders again, trying to make him sit.
"What?!" he yelled, "Gus knows?!" he waited for her response but he only needed that unsure expression in her face to realize, "Everyone knows?" asked again with pain in his own face, and she nodded.
"I thought it was obvious..." she finally made him sit, and took the scissors to finally, finally finish her work.
"I don't get it... I'm a monster..."
"You are not."
"I was created to kill all of you, did you knew that?"
"It's not a surprise, Belos it's crazy..."
"Why are you so calm?! Why you all are?! Neither of you said anything."
"It's not of our business, neither mine, I know, but you also know me, I want the best for you."
"N-no... You all should hate me..."
"Hunter, after all the things you have done and we forgive you for, you really think that this is the thing that finally it's gonna make us hate you?" she asked, brushing the cut hair off of his shoulders, she only needed to comb the hair and it would be ready, "You kidnapped us! And Gus let you stay in his house for some days when you needed it, because we knew that wasn't entirely your fault and you made up for it," she combed the hair with her fingers, it wasn't great but it looked good and she was sure that the haircut would look perfect if it was made in normal conditions, but for now it looked better than last time.
"I'm still sor..." he tried to apologize but she didn't let him.
"Shh, it's ready," she encouraged him to got up and look himself in the mirror, "What do you think?" she expected him to like it so much like the last time, when he got so excited that he hugged her for some seconds, maybe ten, maybe less, and after he realized his actions and ran away with red in his ears, she looked at the door hearing her own heart beating so fast that she couldn't deny anymore how lost she was for him, but this time was different, he looked kind of sad, kind of nostalgic, kind of disapoiting.
"It's great, Captain," he said with no emotion, "but I don't know how to feel" he touched his new scars, "I don't feel right, like... Like myself, I don't know if I ever will again" he let his hand fell at his side.
"Then, what we can do about that?" she took him by the shoulders from his back, standing in her tiptoes so he could see her reflection behind his shoulder in the mirror.
"Turning back in time it's an option?" he joked with sourness.
"I don't think so..." Willow responded awkardly.
"So there's not too much," he sighed, moving his gaze at the side, away from that guy on the mirror and the cute girl in his shoulders, "Don't look at me like that..."
Her eyes expressed a lot, sorry, worry, and love, lots of love, of all kinds, shapes and sizes, and Hunter had seen a lot of eyes in his life, angry eyes in his uncle, looking at him from high above in his throne room, after one of his mistakes and before a thousand of punishments of all kind. Tired eyes in Lilith too, tired of him, tired of her job, tired of her life, tired of herself and what she had done to the ones she loved the most. He had seen annoyed eyes in Darius, and every other adult in his life, but his were unique, they had their own reasons to be annoyed, and he understood them. He had seen the disapointing in Luz's eyes that day, the day when she met him and he met her, the day when she saved his life and he almost stabbed her in the back, the day when she knew his name and everything changed, he was used to that feeling, to hear how disapointed everyone was of him, but her? That was something different, maybe because she actually expected something of him in the first place, maybe because she was the only one without reasons to do that.
But loving eyes? That was a new concept for him ever since he ran away from Belos, but the weird thing that he has learn is that there is not only one type of love in the eyes of the people surrounding him. In Gus it was a tickling kind, he realized it one of the nights that they spend together in the basement. Gus was talking about his old club in Hexside, something about human stuff, and this guy with a weird long name that ruined it for him, Hunter said that he will give him a lesson when they came back to the Boiling Isles making him laugh and say that everything was okay between them now but thanked him anyways, and then Gus stared at him and he knew, that was a funny kind of love, a young and bright kind. And Camila's love was older, he knew every time that her hand touched his hair or shoulder, she was tender and patient with him like no other adult, first he thought that something weird was going on with her, perhaps a human thing, but with the time he realized that all the things that she did was in the name of motherly love, something that he treasured with all the will and strength in his body. The thing was that the innocent love of a child and the pure love of a mother didn't compare with whatever Willow hid in her eyes.
Willow's eyes were big and green and scary, but in a weirdly good way. It was almost as if he was scared of them becoming like the other eyes that he looked in his life but at the same time they tell him everyday in different ways how wrong he was for even think of something like that happening. You see, Willow's eyes were unique, every emotion that they showed was tender, they were cute, either sad or happy they always made him longing for a hug of their owner, maybe they were magic, or maybe he loved them as much as them loved him. The only thing that he knew was that he never saw so much in a pair of eyes.
"Like what?" she moved in front of him, he couldn't escape from those eyes, didn't him?
"Like... That," he tried to gesticulate with his hands but quit it, "It's weird."
"I don't understand it, I'm not doing anything," she wore a confused expression in her face.
"Well, it doesn't matter..." he crossed his arms and turned around.
"It does," she took him by the shoulders "also, I think you look amazing" she made him smile, "And you look like yourself, Hunter," saying his name was a good way of making him feel comfortable.
"It's not that easy," he looked down, but when he felt her hands in his cheeks she practically forced him to look at her, like, it's not like he had another option.
"Hunter, I know it's hard for you," she tried to give him comfort with a smile, but failed, "all this story of Belos and his brother it's horrible and I understand why it's frightening you, even if I can't understand why you thought that we could hate you for this..."
Hunter interrupted her, "Because it's another thing on the long list of bad things that I've done, Willow!"
"Yeah, you did bad things, but this? You literally didn't have a say in this! It's not your fault that Belos decided to made you..."
"But Willow... I..." Hunter put his hand on one of hers, that still were in his face, "I don't know... It's just so fucked up that I..."
And Willow saw the face of this guy, hurt and sad, and almost crying, again. So she knew that she needed to made him feel better, and new exactly what to do, "You know what, Hunter?" she waited an answer, he nodded a little so she knew that he was listening, it was enough for her. "Belos it's a crazy idiot and I hate him, but I have to admit that he did a really, really good job with you," she said with caution in case that he wasn't wanting that right now, but she didn't regret saying it once his cheeks turned red.
"W-what?..." he choked with the air apparently, because he started coughing just like that and also becoming reder, putting her hands off of his face so she couldn't feel the warm, "What do you mean?"
"Oh, come on Hunter!" she hit his shoulder without any force, jokingly, "He made you a really handsome grimwalker, and you can't deny it," she giggled. Hunter couldn't say anything, his throat just didn't let him talk, so Willow continued, with a confident smirk, "You are the only good thing that came from that bitch," she said, tone soft as feathers.
And Hunter exploded.
"Y-you... You just..." he was laughing so hard that he was squeaking while trying to breath, Willow looked at him enamored, "You just said...!"
"What? 'Bitch'?" she asked innocently, knowing damn well that he would laugh harder.
"It just sounds so funny in your voice!" he yelled.
After a while of loud laughs, he sighed and sit back in the toilet, a little bit tired. He looked up at her eyes, and something shook her heart, something in his eyes was so lovely that took her breath away, and she never thought that being breathless and dizzy could feel so good.
"So... It's true, I'm Caleb Wittebane's grimwalker," he said playing with his thumbs.
"I saw his statue, another handsome guy, yes," she nodded.
Hunter almost started laughing again, almost, he only blushed but what is new about that? "Stop."
"Right," she smirked.
Hunter sighed, "And everyone knows that, i-it's fine, but... I didn't want it, not yet, I'm not ready."
Willow got a little bit closer and rested her hands in his shoulders, "I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't have said it yet..."
"No, it's fine, you only wanted to help me to feel better," Hunter hugged himself, "And you did it," his eyes looked at her in this lovely way again, making her feel the urgent need to hug him right away, so she did it, "O-oh, Willow!" and now his face was reder than ever, perfect.
"Please never feel like that again!" she yelled, "I don't want you to feel like we could hate you for something! We can't, I promise!" she said breaking the hug.
"H-hey... Don't worry, I'll try?" he was unsure, but still the goofy smile in his face didn't show it, "If you are the one promising it... I don't have another option but to believe, am I right?" he took her hands, making her flustered.
But right before Willow could say something, a voice interrupted, "Wow, how cute!" Luz said standing at the door, making them both turn around, surprised.
"What the heck, Luz!" Hunter yelled rolling his eyes.
Luz was sleepy, probably just woke up, or maybe she couldn't sleep at all, they never knew with her. She looked better at the scene and noticed all the hair at the floor, and Hunter's head, "Oh my God Hunter, can you keep the same haircut for five minutes?!" she joked.
"This will stay, don't worry, Luz," Hunter said, but he wasn't looking at Luz, instead, he was looking at Willow in the eyes, and that was the moment when she realized he never let go of her hands.
Luz yawned, "Did you guys could sleep something? I mean, a haircut take time."
"Yes we did..." Willow answer, but then remember that Hunter was awake long time before her, "I did! Did you sleep, Hunter?"
"I-I..." he wanted to lie, but those eyes... "Maybe a little...?" those green, worried eyes... "Not enough, I think..." those green, worried, and loving eyes... Loving him, "I'll go to sleep right now, don't worry!" he got up and got out of the bathroom, not without touching tenderly Luz's shoulder in his way to the hallway.
Luz smiled at him, "Sleep well..." she said to him.
"Please try to rest a little!" Willow yelled.
"I will! Thanks, you two!" said in the middle of the hallway.
Willow smiled tenderly and sighed, the looked at the mess on the floor, now there were a thousand of blonde hairs beside the pieces of glass and the dirt, definitely they will have to clean that mess. Maybe later.
"So..." Luz said smirking, catching her attention, "You just called Belos a 'bitch'?"
Willow gasped, and then giggled, "Maybe I did..."

___________
A blonde young man was stretched out on a bed, in a basement in the Human Realm.
And he was so nervous he was vibrating.
He quietly did breathing exercises. Closed his eyes for a half-hour. Told himself a quick Cosmic Frontier story as a pep-talk. Sipped on some ginger ale and forced himself to have a light snack.
The wooden joists on the basement ceiling had interesting knots. He stared at them for a bit, just like he did when he was a teenager.
He sat up just as the basement door creaked open.
“Hey, Hunter. How’s it going?” A voice asked carefully.
“Fine, Luz,” he said softly. “Just…resting my eyes.”
“Cool, cool,” she said as she walked down the stairs. “Just checking on ya. And by the way…”
She leaned around the banister and held out a bottle of bright pink liquid, teasingly waving it at him with a sloshy shake.
“…are you gonna need this?”
“Why would I need that?”
“Well, you look like you’re gonna be sick, so-“
Hunter grabbed a nearby stress toy and chucked it across the room at her.
Luz ducked out of the way and tore off up the stairs, cackling maniacally.
“Everyone will be here in twenty minutes! You should get in the shower!” she shouted from the safety of the kitchen.
“You don’t want to be rushed, mijo. That will make your nerves worse!” Camila added, poking her head into the doorway to gently shout down the stairs. “It’s time to face the music!”
Hunter swallowed, and with a grumble jogged up the steps, closing the basement door behind him...

2023 Fic Round-Up/Reflection
Got an early start this year! I technically was shooting to get it done before the new year but I feel like I’m still within a reasonable window, so I’ll take it! Here’s my 2023 Writing Summary! Overall, I think I actually did okay! As usual, my rambly reflection stuff is under the cut. Happy 2024 people!
2023 Stats:
Fics Started: 12 Fics Fully Written: 12  Fics Posted: 5 New WIPs: 0 Total WIPs: 20 (ish?) Words Written: 53,686 (55,598 if including fic outlines that haven’t been turned fic) Words Posted: 34,805 Fandoms Written For: 3 (+1 for Merlin FTH outline) Events: 4 (+3)
Posted Fics:
Supernatural (Gen): 2
When it Rains, it Pours (13,779): As part of Chuck's "reliving of his greatest hits," Sam starts having his painful visions again. He doesn’t want to believe it, but the nightmares keep coming true and now, he's beginning to worry it’s not just visions. During their last hunt, Sam could have sworn that the machete he was reaching for threw itself. Dean didn’t seem to notice anything but later that night, Sam finds a small trail of blood coming from his nose.
He needs to tell Dean—he knows that. But Dean’s been struggling a lot between Chuck and losing... well, most everyone. He's just barely beginning to bounce back, and Sam was his only constant right now. He’ll just have to keep a handle on it until they can take care of Chuck. Set around s15e4 Atomic Monsters.
Whatever it Takes (1,875): Gadreel's possession of Sam has more serious side-effects than Dean ever imagined. Now, his brother is sick, hurting, and close to giving up. But Dean is determined to make this right.
The Owl House (Gen and Implied/Background Ship - Huntlow): 2
What Doesn't Kill You (Gives You Trauma) (1,737): With the reconstruction of Hexside finally complete, a sense of normality has been restored. Fortunately, that includes Grom. Unfortunately one of their own has been declared King. Hunter doesn’t even know which fear he'll have to face. He certainly has enough painful memories for Grom to take its pick. With a bit of luck and support from his friends, though, he might just make it through the night.
Frenemies (1,737): Hunter gets a mysterious message telling him to meet them at the night market. He really should have realized Luz would be behind this. Or: Post-ASIAS, Luz doesn't like the idea of Hunter suddenly showing up at Hexside and almost kidnapping her friends.
Code Lyoko (Gen): 1
No One’s an Island (7,612): Yumi is tired. XANA's attacks have been relentless and it's wearing her down. Between school, home life, and Lyoko, she's not sure how much more she can handle. After all, there's only so much weight one person can take. Except, it's not just Yumi's burden to carry, and her friends are going to do whatever they can to remind her of that.
Specifics:
Events Participated In:
SPN Summergen (Fic), Player Appreciation Week (Art), Weird People MEP (Edit), Dear Fellow Traveler (Animatic), SPN Gencest Bang (Fic), Fandom Trumps Hate (Art/Fic), Mirage and Mischief Zine (Fic), and LOTS of zine apps (Fic, Art, Mod).
Best/worst title?
Best title: None of them super jump out at me, but Whatever it Takes and Between the Lines of Fear and Blame both come from songs where the song vibe/lyrics match the fic PERFECTLY. The latter is a bit long for my tastes, but it’s grown on me. What Doesn’t Kill You (Gives you Trauma) makes me chuckle too, but it’s got the same length issue as well as trying out a new style from my norm which I had mixed feelings on.
Worst title: Oof, well as usual, I didn’t particularly like most of my titles this year. I think Frenemies has to take the cake though. It started as a working title but then I got lazy and just left it when I posted. It feels so generic and not... aesthetic enough? Poetic enough? Literally no idea why it bothers me so much but it does.
General Questions:
Looking back, did you write more fics than you thought you would this year, less than you thought, or about what you predicted?
I honestly can’t remember what I was expecting this year (and it’s tradition that I can’t look back at my goals ‘til I answer these questions, so it will remain unknown). I certainly hoped to be able to do more since last year was a fairly barren year creativity-wise, but I’ve also been quite aware for a while that being in school sucks out my soul makes it difficult to create. With that, I think I probably was in the ballpark of what I was expecting. I might have predicted it being more spread out, though, which is a rookie move considering that my classes are clustered haha. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted last year?
I think I’d just barely gotten into TOH at the start of the year, so that wasn’t COMPLETELY unpredictable, but I did write some Huntlow (aka, romance) fics, which is abnormal for me! Additionally, I can’t remember if I discovered The Sentinel this year or last, but that definitely wasn’t expected. Just got the DVDs so I can finish watching the series! Oh, also writing Code Lyoko was a new experience (not counting my random 6th grade fanfiction I wrote in notebooks lol).
What’s your favorite story this year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you the happiest.
I’m split quite a bit on this one. On one hand, I really like my Grom fic (so far) so I’m hoping that will continue to flow as I wrap it up. I also like my unposted fic about Willow dealing with Hunter’s near-death and Camila comforting her. Of those that are currently posted, though, I think I might go with No One is an Island. It was a lot of fun trying to figure out how to write Yumi and the other Code Lyoko characters, and considering the small size of the fandom, it was fairly well-received too!
Okay, NOW your most popular story.
Same as the last two years! Fragmentation’s views are hard to really predict since view counts have been down since September, but the total views has officially surpassed the overall word count at 21.4k views (vs 20.7k word count). Which is AMAZING. It’s always a bit wild to me to consider, but I’m so great people are enjoying my fic. Next is still The Problem With Good Intentions at 12.6k, which surprises me less now that I’ve seen just how alive and well the Once and Future Fandom is haha. From the fics I posted this year, it would be When it Rains, it Pours at 1.5k.
Story most underappreciated by the universe?
A Letter to Never Be Read on FF.net never really got any traction, but I think I’m over it by now. As for more current underappreciated fic... I think I might actually go with When it Rains, it Pours again. Even though it had the most views, it’s a fairly long, multi-chap story and didn’t get many reviews in between chapters. That’s part of the challenge with bangs and posting dates, though, so nothing too shocking there.
Hardest story to write?
It’s really hard to say! I was struggling with burnout a lot during my zine app timeframes, but most of those fics haven’t been posted yet. It might be Whatever it Takes just cause I had such a hard time coming up with something that matched the prompts as well as my preferences. When it Rains, it Pours was also a challenge at times, but mostly in trying to find motivation to write anything.
Most overdue story?
It’s Only Natural is still very very overdue, but it’s not super popular (and is on FF.net), so it’s not one I’m stressed about. I think about A Long Ways Home a lot, though. I wanted to work on it recently, but unfortunately my writing energy needed to go towards FTH so that continued to be put off. People have left some very supportive comments on it recently, though, which I majorly appreciate!
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
It hasn’t been a very writer-heavy year, which means less opportunities for writing risks. Writing for Code Lyoko was something of a risk in that I had no idea how it would turn out, but it wasn’t actually that adventurous. I also explored different types of grief in an unposted zine app piece, but I think in the end it turned out solid! My biggest risk was probably a different ficlet I wrote for a zine app. It was of young Eda and Grudgy, so both about characters I’m less invested in and in the sports genre, which is totally new for me. Unfortunately, that risk didn’t pay off. I actually felt pretty good about it, but when I sent it for feedback from a mod friend, they really didn’t like it. Everything’s subjective so it’s possible that it would still be enjoyable for some people, but suffice to say, I didn’t use it for any apps in the end.
How’d this year compare to your goals of last year?
Okie here we go! I think my goals were fairly reasonable last year if I remember correctly so I’m tentatively optimistic I’ll have some stuff to check off!
Oof last year had a bunch of paragraphs of reflection here. I think I’m gonna focus more on bullets this year haha.
Goals from 2022:
-Unfortunately, keeping my scholarship has to be my biggest goal this year again so gonna put that here in case it's the only thing I can check off come December.
-A Long Ways Home (at least 1 new chapter) -SPN Summergen-At least 3/7 Player Appreciation Week days-Catch up on comment replies -At least do some more brainstorming for bigger CS aus -Huntlow/Owl House fics?-One zine?
If crazy inspired year: -All of A Long Ways Home -All Player Appreciation Week Days -WIP Bang with It’s Only Natural -Post More CS One-shots -Write out more big AU scenes -Other Zines
Oof, okay so apparently I was not crazy inspired this year lol. To be fair, I did do a bit more exploration in art and lots more in merch, so it wasn’t a totally uncreative year. And I doubled my word count overall from last year! Plus I did apply to a LOT of zines this year... I just unfortunately didn’t get in to nearly any of them. Next time maybe though! I’m a pinch hitter for a couple so that’s something at least!
It’s also been a year with lots of burnout and anhedonia for me, so brainstorming has been completely unachievable for most of the year. It’s been sad and I feel a little bad for my poor friends who love to brainstorm with me, but thankfully they have other sources. I’m scared to say anything, but I’ve felt more recently like maybe some interest is returning, so I’m crossing my fingers that it will still be there by the time FTH/Mirage&Mischief stuff is finished and school starts.
I actually met my goals this year too! In fact, my stretch goal had 25k posted, which I doubled in total and surpassed in written too, which is really impressive for me! Not to mention, I finished EVERY SINGLE fic I wrote this year!! That’s WILD for me. To be honest, it’s probably more a sad reflection on how I was writing purely for external deadlines rather than myself, but hey! Still got them all done and wrote a lot of words. Overall, thank you last year Sakarrie for keeping things achievable cause I actually did meet/exceed my goals!
What are your fic writing goals for next year?
Well, I was a little relieved to find that I’d met them this year, so I think I’m going to try to keep things not too high again. Overall, though, I think I want to have a little more room for creative freedom in what I’m writing this year. For how little creative work I was doing, I did a TON of events, and at many times, those obligations stopped me from working on something I was feeling more inspired by. My fandom interests jumped all over this year (main focuses include: TOH, Merlin, Code Lyoko, The Sentinel, Dragon Prince, She-ra, Handplates (Undertale), and Centaurworld). Honorable mentions to Amphibia, SPN, and Miraculous Ladybug too... and that’s all just the stuff I’ve had long hyperfixations on this year. There’s tons of fandoms outside of those that also grabbed my attention on and off this year.)
Anyway, my hope is that I’ll be able to write similarly or more this year, but based on my own fickle inspiration, rather than only writing when I hate to for events. With that, I think I’m going to just stick with the Gencest Bang and zine obligations as the only writing events I’m planning on this year. I also hope to do Player Appreciation Week and Summergen again, but both of those could be art if needed.
I also 100% failed in my comments goal from last year, but my mindset is slowly getting healthier I think. I do leave comments occasionally, but they still feel like way bigger deals than they should be. I’m getting better at letting old tabs go, though! I’m also fairly behind on responding to comments of my fics, but that one’s a lot more manageable.
Additionally, I want to have a pinned post on my tumblr page and ao3 profile page where people who are interested can see my current status on projects. I don’t expect it would be updated all the time, but it might help me keep track of everything.
Okay so! Goals for next year: -Have a solid zine portfolio -Make pinned update post -Post at least 4 stories -Embrace/follow the inspiration -Finish first draft A Long Ways Home -Gencest Bang -Summergen Exchange -Code:Swap -Player Appreciation Week -Apply to more zines
So, finally work counts goals are...
Easy Goal Word Count Goal: 20k (at least 10k posted)
Stretch Goal (aka, if I don’t die from school agAIN): 60k (at least 30k posted)
Ultimate 2021 Word Count Goal: 38k

About my fic: Just Kiss Her.
Want to take Tumblr as the blog thing it is so i´m expanding a little about the huntlow fanfic i wrote a while ago called Just Kiss Her. If you haven't read it feel free to check it out here:
So, I wrote this one before Any Sport in a Sport aired. And it was not about the grimwalker thing at the beginning, it was, ironically, Willow discovering Hunter was the Golden Guard, because I thought Hunter will go like a spy in the emperor's coven. Anyway, that wasn't the principal point; the fic is full of headcanons and the most important is how Willow and Hunter first kiss could go.
The first ever idea was they starting as a date, still not dating, were Hunter would take Willow to a special place in the Boiling Isles, this after The Day of Unity with Belos already defeated.
The scene of the kiss was calmer even if Hunter still fliches away, the situation was quickly resolved by our protagonists, but i didn't like the way i was making the situation too blushy for both of them. Don't get me wrong. I love loser behaviour in Huntlow, still i wasn't fully convinced of the interactions and i was lacking of more canon information to keep writing, also i wanted to add Willow perspective of Hunter and what i was doing was feeling a little forced by my shipping mind, so i abandoned the fic.
Then ASiaS happened, then Labyrinth Runners happened, Then King's Tide and everything else happened. I had a clear idea how Willow and Hunter could function together and i loved it, so i changed a tone of stuff of the original fic keeping three principal ideas:
The pinning.
Break Point.
A confession.
I loved to make them have two different point of view about love and how they worked their feelings for each other in this fic. Mostly of the first chapter of Hunter's perspective is written by the time of the very first draft, so I think you can notice some of their behaviours are out of character, but tbh there's nothing i would change about it. I loved the little rosegold i put in there, I loved how oblivious and silly Hunter was bc i knew that boy would be very happy in the Human Realm (something to mention, i used to have a hc that Hunter would not want to return to the boiling isles for fear, but that's another story). I loved to make them talk, because, they talk a lot in the fic. I think Hunter and Willow talk a lot behind the scenes (lol) The thing with penstagram, the "this is what happens when you get lost for a week". Hunter and Willow talk a lot and/or spent a lot of time together and no one is changing my mind.
Grimwalker narrative between huntlow is very important for me, and i think we should expect a lot with this confrontation in the last episodes of the series. I'm not lying when i say i cried writing Hunter vulnerability in here, and the strong desire of Willow to protect those she loves. I loved to write Willow in this fic because sometimes we only focus in the most obvious signals of crushing (and yes, i include myself since i scream everytime Hunter blushes). Willow subtles signs of love and caring are such a nice concept to explore, and I would never had thought something like that in the first drafts, so i am happy i left those ideas and wrote this instead.
This is probably the work i am more proud of in terms of charaterization, i was so happy with the results that i even did a little piece of art of the Hunter and Amity talk about feeling and love, lmao. I loved the rosegold in the fic too. Amity is a great support character even in fics. Actually, i am so satisfied how all the hesquad interacted in here to help the losers.
The art in question:
Tumblr media
If you have already read it, let me know any opinion about it! I'm currently into a Vinira void with toh fanfics, but i promise to post some huntlow scenarios soon <3
PS: forget the typos, idk if i have, but i probably do.

Chapter 39: Labyrinth Runners (Part III: Separation), of my huntlow fic, Imminently Intertwined, is now posted!
.
Fic Summary:
Belos finds out about Hunter's secret friendship with Willow, one of the friends of the human, and thinks Hunter is betraying him. Belos orders Hunter to deliver Willow and her palisman to him but Hunter instead wants to help her run away.
Continuing chapter by chapter are slices of life of Hunter and Willow stuck with one another, trying to find a way back to The Boiling Isles, eventually settling with the idea they are stuck in this mystery place for maybe forever.
However, eventually, they make their way back… and somehow, it’s only a couple of weeks after they had gotten lost… but they had aged a couple of decades (they think)… and had returned with several children, with ages ranging from 3 months to 12 years. Upon their return, they find Willow’s friends and the Owl Lady, and go on a quest to rescue Willow’s parents who had been captured by Belos.

coffee never expected but always appreciated >> link to my ko-fi!
Summary of chapter:
Everyone at Hexside is a little confused but things are about to get even more confusing.
Notes before chapter:
I was listening to my favorite band, The Hush Sound, when I was letting the story sit in my brain for a bit before writing more. Should it interest you, these three songs really spoke to me regarding the Labyrinth Runners arc of this story-->
"Momentum" - This song made me think of Chiara's understanding of Willow's relationship to the Boiling Isles and to Gus, and the feeling of inserting herself into to it all, especially since it felt like there is a lot both of her parents aren't telling her.
"Hourglass" - This song made me think of Chiara's understanding of Hunter's relationship to the Boiling Isles and to Gus, and the parallels between herself and her father, discovering them through reading his journals as well as in real time at Hexside. I feel like parts of the song could be from Hunter's or Chiara's perspective.
"Echo" - This song I was listening to when I started writing the next (and final part) of this arc, so I won't describe what I was thinking while listening to it until I post it :)
