One time in high school, a friend and I liked the same guy, and once I found out, I gave up on him immediately and encouraged her to go for him. A week later, she told me she finally confessed to him, and he shot her down, so I spent ten minutes before first period outside his locker, glaring at him. And he saw me glaring at him, but we also had first period together, so I pretended nothing ever happened, and I just wanted to apologize to Logan for being an angst-filled teenager who was so worried about her broken hearted friend that I didn't take your feelings into consideration.

I am an adult now, and I understand that just because a girl likes you, it doesn't mean you have to like them back. I wish you a good, long life that does not involve weird girls glaring at you.

The Little Things

Wrote this in like two hours and felt like posting it haha. By far the shortest thing I've written, and since it's almost midnight where I live, it's probably shit and I am definitely going to cringe in the morning but that's okayyyyy

Anyway, I am obsessed with the trope of confessing something to no one/someone who's sleeping and also I wanted to write a good old love realization drabble so here is Loid wanting to tell Yor that he loves her but being angsty about it.

It is the little things. 

It is the soft smile that she gives him, one that could melt the coldest of hearts, and one that makes his own stand no chance.

It is the way she says his name- it is just an alias, he must remember that, but when she says it, he wants nothing more than for it to be truly his.

It is how she holds Anya, so delicately that he forgets, as she does, that the child is not hers.

And it’s more than that.

It’s the look on her face after an attempt to cook, her cheeks red, the remains of dinner continuing to smolder.

It’s the fact that her voice gets louder when she gets excited, and her eyes sparkle, and the world looks to fall away all together.

It is how the fear of not being good enough is murmured by a woman who has shown time and time again that “good enough” was a goal she surpassed months ago.

He checks under every table. Under every chair, under every bed. In the plant pots, in drains, in the light-bulb fixtures. 

No signs of bugs, no signs that anyone has made him feel this way other than himself.

He thinks that that may be worse. 

He watches her leave now. In two hours, she’ll return from her emergency meeting from city hall, and they’ll both sit and talk and wait for Anya to come home.

His gaze scans for W.I.S.E agents hidden in the alleyways he can see from above. For agents hidden in plain sight, blending in with the crowds.

No one meets his eyes. No one signals up at him, and the impromptu mission he has been waiting all day for does not come. 

And so all he can do is stand there and watch as she walks away, hair billowing out behind her. He’s caught himself wanting to tuck it behind her ear, and that makes his heart pound faster than ever before.

It has been beating particularly hard lately. 

A gust of air right below his knee, and he reaches down to scratch behind Bond’s ears. He wonders if the dog sniffs him now because he can sense it too. The thing, the emotion, that is wrong, that shouldn’t be here.

There are no bugs, no cameras. No nothing, and yet…

She looks up at him then. Or, rather, at the apartment. There is no possibility of seeing him when he’s up this high, and she doesn’t smile to let him know that somehow, she’s performed a miracle. 

He can scarcely see her from here, either.

He shouldn’t be staring at her. If she had been able to catch him looking at her, then-

But at the same time, a foolish, stubborn part of him wants her to see him. Wants her to hear him, to be able to read his thoughts.

If she could, she would leave. He knows this. He wouldn’t blame her. In fact, he would have usually said that he’d encourage it. But there’s a twist in his stomach that’s become all too familiar.

It is the same feeling he gets when Anya grabs onto his hand, or when Bond crushes his ribs as he drapes himself over him.

But he has to shove that part of him down. He has to know, he must know, that this is all a ruse. That in a matter of months, this will all be over. 

Lucky. The voice in his head is dull. That’s a strange word for it.

He watches her grow further and further away, and his chest tightens. 

She will be back in a matter of hours, but one day, he could see her again, walking away from him and not being any the wiser.

It’s a stupid thought. Berlint is not a small town by any means, and the chances of running into her are-

His heart, his thudding, terrible heart, leaps into his mouth and forces out the sentence that he knows he should not say.

There is no reason for Twilight to have any sort of feelings for Yor.

But Loid Forger means every whispered word.

It is the little things that ensure it.

The queen made tigeress take Etiquette classes to tame her wild and big personality; she failed.

The queens next best bet was to sign tigeress up to be his knight when she's older

Tigeress father knew the two had a crush on each other and found it pretty funny

The two would sneak into balls to watch the dances and listen to exchanges, snice they weren't old enough to attend themselves yet

Tigeress mother was actually from a well-respected old money rich family ( not in the empire, I'm thinking more stealgate ), but she was disowned after running away with pirates

The prince is more petty, but tigeress knows how to humble him

They've been friends from snice they we're 6years old to 14years old

Tigeress is the shortest out of all the listeners

Both in the old series and new one tigeress reputation gets around fast, intica looks for the ship often on their seas in hopes they can tempt/convince her to join their army

The prince would sometimes watch and listen to tigeress father teach her new fighting techniques snice he himself can't join in to learn, her father has made efforts to let him join the lessons..but he wants to follow his mother's orders and chooses to sit out

The prince is a hardcore lightweight compared to tigeress who can handle her liquor

These two would find places to hide together in the castle, and it would stress EVERYONE out, eyes gotta be on them 24/7, or THEY WILL go missing for a good few hours

The prince shows tigeress old historic things from around gorgeous era. They both love reading old journal entry together and learning about the old world.

Castle staff loved watching the two hangouts and playing with each other. They got sad when tigeress ' left ' the castle. The prince never looked so sad and bored in his life.

Sad headcanons cause their my personal favorite

The prince father passed away before he was born

For some reason, tigeress mom never trusted Darius, and while she was alive, she made sure her daughter was never in his way

Tigeress mother passed away due to illness when she was 8; 14 is when her father was hanged.

To remember tigeress the prince kept her old play sword; he also kept any ' treasures ' she would give him after her and her father left the empire for ' business ' this is where his love of gold accessories comes from.these items are hidden away from his mother

Tigeress does not call Darius ( the new captain ) captain. She calls him by his name and sticks to that only, she kinda does not recognize him as her captain, but she wouldn't openly admit that

Tigeress does not allow ANYONE to touch or wear her father's old captain hat. She herself doesn't even wear it. Darius was forced to get a brand new one commissioned, and tigeress made sure it didn't look like her father's

On the ship, her father had a private captain study, only he, his wife, and, of course, tigeress was allowed in. After his death, only one key remained. Tigeress has that key and has locked the room snice his death; no one is allowed in the room. Ever.

The prince watched the shoreline everyday in hopes he would see his old friends ship dock.he stopped watching when he turned 17

While the prince mother lied to him about tigeress were abouts he would Secretly give sailors missing flyers in hopes his friend would return

The queen was generally confused when she could not find tigeress after her father hanging. She had sent the guards to the shore lines, across the city, even checked some of her and the prince hiding spots in the castle...but nothing came up she gave up looking after 3 days and deemed she was just taken.

Dispite Tigeress not being the most high rank on the ship now under a new captain her room on the ship is the captains suite, she gave Darius her old room after her father's hanging, Darius allowed this knowing tigeress was extremely close with her parents ( probs the only nice thing he's ever done for her)

Despite her father last wishing of tigeress making it to the ship, she was kicking and scearming, not wanting to leave the empire. It was like a 3 home to her.

She wanted to write renae letters, but Darius stopped her every time in hopes that one day in the future, he could use tigeress for a bigger plan, AKA kidnapping the prince when she was an adult.

Lol that's it, this was fun ☺️🤪

My canon worldstate for Dragon Age

ages are as of 9:52 Dragon, which I'm fairly certain is the start date of The Veilguard (but I may be mistaken).

I changed the template a bit since I wasn't really sure how to word "origin" for all three girls, so I changed it to class/specialization.

Lots of misc. information under the cut bc I can't help myself:

I forgot to put it in her actual sheet because I just assumed everyone would assume this, but Fiora is married to Alistair and they rule Ferelden together.

Fiora did the ritual with Morrigan and Alistair. Her reasoning was that it would be easier for Alistair if she was there (and it was), but she was also harboring a crush on Morrigan she knew wouldn't go anywhere, so this was as close as she would get. Alistair was also aware of this, and fine with it. They already had a threesome with Isabela, after all.

Fiora's mabari is named Jorah. In universe I pretend it's the name of a storybook hero she likes. Out of universe he's named for Jorah Mormont from Game of Thrones, which I was obsessed with at the time lol.

Marian really only ever traveled with Fenris, Merrill, Carver, and Sebastian. In Act 1, before Sebastian was available, she used Isabela. She's on lukewarm to awful terms with everyone else. She kicked Anders out fairly early in Act 2.

Varric's nickname for her is "Needles" - small, sharp, and related to both sewing and healing. I wanted to use Stitches but one of Bull’s Chargers already has that name lol.

The ‘small’ part comes from the fact that Marian is 5'2'' - making her the second shortest in the DA2 group aside from Varric, the actual dwarf.

Marian's mabari is named Brick, because she found him abadoned in a pile of bricks near an unfinished house by Lothering. Out of universe, he's named for Brick from the Borderlands series, who I've always thought looked like if a mabari was human.

Hildegarde's hair was originally a chestnut brown, but interacting directly with the orb/going physically through the Fade changed it to white. She doesn't realize this until someone points it out to her fter she's named Herald of Andraste. Her eyes, already green, become a more vivid shade matching that of the Rifts. She hates these changes.

Varric's nickname for her is Bunny - she's very skittish and anxious, plus the white hair.

The mabari that Cullen finds in Orlais is named Lapin. The Orlesian who owned him named him that, so it's what he responds to. Cullen finds it amusing that Lapin means "rabbit", the animal people tend to associate with Hildegarde. He jokes that surely it was a sign from the Maker that Cullen and Hilde were meant to take him in.

Hildegarde reforms the Inquisition as Divine Victoria's peacekeeping force. She serves as Vivienne's right hand woman, dividing her time between that and helping Cullen run his clinic for lyrium-addicted templars. They live in Val Royeaux, but own homes in the now peaceful Emerald Graves and Emprise du Lion.

By the time of DA: The Veilguard, they all have children. Fiora and Alistair have a daughter named Bryce (7 years old); Marian and Sebastian have twins, Davinia and Dominic (10 years old) and Marian is currently pregnant with their third child; Hildegarde and Cullen have two children, a son named Ethan (6 years old) and a daughter named Hannelore (4 years old). They'll have three more kids after The Veilguard's story (as long as BioWare doesn't kill the Inquisitor...).

BL/QL Ask game : The Ugly, the Bad and the Worst

Thank you for the game, @clara-maybe-ontheroad! And thanks for tagging me @clara-maybe-ontheroad and @lurkingshan! I started out by saying to myself that I'm going to do my best to ignore my urges and just answer the first thing that comes to me rather than treating this like a quiz. And then I went into a fugue and worked on this for >5 hours. WHOOPS.

Worst soundtrack / weirdest song choice in a BL

Ohhhhh man, ok so the first thought that came to mind was Never Let Me Go, which mostly had fantastic background music, and that's maybe why when it didn't hit it stood out so badly (sorry to my man Pond, not all BL actors should be singers! And having his OST play over their kiss in Part 7 4/4 was just mean). For the record I love this show (actually maybe it should go in one of the below categories because so many tumblr folks dislike it) but this was rough.

Most cringe-inducing line (cute)

These don't tend to stick with me...there are so many, and I am allergic to sincerity so everything earnest is various levels of cringe to me. So with that in mind, basically everything Gavreel ever said in Gameboys counts.

Anytime someone said "Once I start I won't be able to stop" or some variation.

Most stupid decision made by a character

Jun Ho deciding to die rather than bite Min Hyun in Kissable Lips. Min Hyun was offering. it would have made Jun Ho human. He could have had his friends around to make sure he didn't go too far and kill him. Instead he decides to fade away in his arms like a dick. WHY.

Special mention to NuengDiao going back to his hotel where his murderous uncle is waiting with no plan other than to walk in wearing a suit and a cocky expression in Never Let Me Go.

Worst plot line

Every penultimate episode crises resulting in the leads splitting up so that they can reunite in the finale that are not earned and significantly detract from my enjoyment of a series [this list is not comprehensive]: 2Gether, Minato's Laundromat S2, Enchanté, Love Class, Plus & Minus.

The most problematic show you've watched

I've seen literally all of them so this feels like an unfair question lol there are layers of problematic; like, is it even worth considering all of the problems with A Round Trip to Love, or The Shortest Distance is Round, or What the Duck s2? I wrote out summaries for these and then decided no thanks. If anyone wants to know they can DM me.

In terms of series that are problematic but not often considered problematic, I'm calling out Love Area the series. It hits two of my pet peeves: shitty treatment of a poor character by an oblivious rich love interest that directly affects their sources of income, and an ableist subplot. I think it also has an unearned separation in the penultimate episode but honestly I remember thinking they should stay split up so maybe it was earned.

A show people love but you find bad

Vice Versa. Sorry to all who love that show. I wanted to like it; the colouring and cinematography are beautiful and the alternate universe was neat worldbuilding. But the plot makes me so, so angry.

Ditto Cutie Pie the series. I just can't enjoy it.

A show people find bad but you will defend

Honestly there are several, but the one that is most disliked that I will ride hardest for is probably Secret Crush On You (which I argued ended with one of the most healthy relationships in a BL here LMAO). I get why people find this show hard to watch, the cringe is real. But the gender expression! The found family! The "he's a weirdo and that's why I love him" dynamic! The mutual lusting! The body dysphoria! The fact that both start by playing into BL tropes and it's only by throwing those out that they can actually have a meaningful relationship! The way both characters have real growth! And like yes Toh is a fanboy stalker but that is problematized in the show! It gave us the growth from fanboy to faen that Be Mine Superstar didn't. I have a lot of emotions about this show.

ALSO because I cannot stop, I will forever to my dying breath defend Color Rush. I don't care what you say about dead fish kisses I can't hear you over the incredibly powerful metaphor about the queer experience!

A show that is just objectively bad but you enjoyed it

Bahahhaha. Um. So many, my friends. OH I'm going to take this chance to shout out the lesser-known webseries Discipline Z: Vampire (Korean, YouTube, 2020). It's ostensibly a sequel to Discipline, but the only thing they share is a single character so you don't need to watch it to understand what's happening in Discipline Z (they are entirely different shows in every way; Discipline is more youth slice of life with a queer story as part of the ensemble). Listen, I'm talking about this show in this category for a reason; it's about a vampire who falls for a street dancer, whose motley crew of hacker friends help rescue the vampire from an evil corporation that wants to experiment on him to understand his immortality. It is BAD.

But. BUT! I love it. Everyone is so pretty. There is a cute hacker girlie. There is scifi nonsense to explain immortality. There is a good kiss. There are characters willing to sacrifice to do the right thing. I am a simple woman. [Fair warning to my happy ending only pals: this ending is ambiguous at best; there was supposed to be a follow-up epilogue for the couple, but it never got filmed.]

Bonus, En of Love was absolutely trash and it has a very special place in my heart. It's not good (like, at all), but it's great.

A bad show that you kept watching because you were intrigued/fascinated

Let's go with Physical Therapy the series. At some point I just kept watching like a car wreck to see how bad it could get. Also shout-out to Dinosaur Love, which was...similarly bewildering.

A bad show that you kept watching because you were horny

@lurkingshan already stole my first answer for this, but oh man I stay a Why R U apologist for the Fighter/Tutor chemistry. I actually think somewhere in there is a really interesting show, if the pandemic hadn't made it impossible for them to film the ending that they wanted to, but based on the Korean version and the parts that we were told had to be cut, maybe it would have actually made it worse. But just to get on my soapbox for half a sec, Tutor was in debt, working himself to exhaustion, and Fighter (after he got over himself) protected him at his one job, joined him to help him meet his sales targets at another, hired him for a third, paid off his debt collector to take the pressure off, and then took him on vacation to help him relax--twice. I have issues with depictions of poverty in BL but at least my man secured the bag while also pursuing love or whatever. Also he whispers "get inside me" while they're making out, sorry, Tutor will forever be a fave of mine.

Since that's taken, I'm going to use this as an excuse to shout out the hotness of My Day the Series. It was predominantly not great but the heat moments....

A bad show that you kept watching because of that one character

I'm giving this to Noey Watplu from I Will Knock You. I was obsessed with him. I want his confidence so badly. I love how he's essentially a dork in cosplay but gets away with it because of his rizz. Truly iconic. This man decided he was being seduced and said "bet". I really enjoyed this show because of him and him alone.

A bad show that you would still recommend

I'm going to put Ghost Host Ghost House here. It's "bad" in the sense that it had low production values (like, really bad, so bad the time of day changes at random because they lost the light while filming). But the romance was cute, the story around the romance was interesting, the worldbuilding around the merit credits was fascinating, the side mystery was so heartbreaking, the various characters actually had a lot of difficult emotions to portray, and overall I think this show is underrated.

I also already have and will again recommend YYY as a fun and fascinating watch to anyone who asks about it, @waitmyturtles is correct on that call.

The character that ruined a show the most

There are several annoying sides in BL, but I'm giving this to the side hets in My Oxygen. A fujoshi who records people without their consent for online clout is bad. A doctor using his role as a doctor to get closer to his patient is really bad. Pretending to be interested in his friend because the girl he likes is a fujoshi is worse; then using her brother as his friend's stand-in when his friend won't put up with it anymore is the WORST.

Most awful character that you hated

I mean, Lhong in TharnType takes it for not only arranging the gang rape of Tar, but being forgiven for it in the series. Neung in Tonhon Chonlatee comes a close second for attempting to rape Chonlatee and then claiming the moral high ground against his homophobic "friend". Tony in History 5: Love in the Future doesn't get enough hate for trying to murder someone just because he was his love rival. Namning in La Cuisine had her love rival bullied, beaten and who knows what she was going to do with that gun. Also shoutout to @wen-kexing-apologist's answer of Korn, in KinnPorsche, he was so insidiously evil, it was so well done.

Most awful character that you loved

I'm going with "awful" as not necessarily (just) morally bad but that people didn't like: Jaime from Win Jaime's Heart. Objectively he's a fuckboi of the worst calibre. He agrees to go on a webshow in which he dates Heart so that he can seduce the creator of the show Winston. And Jaime is so charming that I don't care about his bi wrongs (partially, to be fair, because the premise is ridiculous so it's hard to take too seriously).

Special mention (because it's not a series) to Wine in Red Wine in the Dark Night. I love a murder twink (speaking of, things are looking really good for me to stay in love with Ai Di from Kiseki if it keeps on this track).

If we're interpreting "awful" as characters that other people don't like, it'll probably go to Toh from Secret Crush on You or Gus in Diary of Tootsies. They're flawed, they're femme, they're fantastic.

A character that wasn't awful but that you just don't like

Can in Love By Chance and the sequels. Tinn is an asshole and knows it; Can is an asshole but is also self-righteous, but in all honesty his biggest flaw for me is that he's not competent and I have little patience for that.

A hero that should have been a villain

Tempted to give this to Ko from Love Poison for essentially trying to love spell date rape his love interest--this is only not that bad because magic isn't real so of course it doesn't do anything.

Possibly Athit (Boun's character) from Even Sun? I put a question mark there because this was so convoluted and hard to follow I'm not even 100% sure I remember it right, but from what I remember, this was not a romantic story at all.

Taking a totally different approach to the question, Joke from Hidden Agenda should have been a secret villain (in the sense that he should have been scheming and sociopathic but hiding it, ineffectually, from Zo) in order to make the series make sense, but apparently I can't have nice things.

And finally, special mention to Phu in The Promise for being the villain for so many of us already.

A morally bad character you're into

Zhu Zi Shu, canon war criminal and child murderer from Word of Honor. He thought he was doing bad things for good reasons (protecting the people he loves), realized he was just doing bad things and the people he loves were all dead anyway, and crafted a convoluted plot to get out of the secret society rules that he created to prevent anyone from leaving. And then he wanders aimless until he meets Wen Ke Xing and becomes as loyal to this equally morally dubious man as he was to his secret society. I love him (and them) so much.

Same type of deal, different scale of crime: Akk from The Eclipse. I have a soft spot for this trope.

A morally bad character you're not into and you wish people would stop being into

Xue Yang from The Untamed. Also a mass murderer, but doing it just for the vibes/to avenge his finger, so he gets zero love from me. People woobify him just because he's sassy it's...rough.

The show that disappointed you the most

From hype to execution? So Much in Love / Ni Yam Ruk. I slogged through such awful subs TWICE (because they claimed they redid them, but they are still terrible) to try to give this show a chance, because the premise sounded right up my alley. I still think there's a show in there that I would have liked, but it is literally unwatchable.

Most disappointed from what the show seemed like it was doing at the start to what it delivered in full is a tie between The Shipper and Step By Step.

The Worst Show of Them All Because of Your Own Reasons

That's My Candy. I've only ever dropped/not finished I think 3 or so shows? And this was the most painful and the one I am least likely to ever finish. The pairing was overplayed, the comedy was heavy handed, and the plot was absolutely cringe inducing. It was literally torture trying to watch this.

Yeonjun was incredibly good at flirting, or so he had thought.

The first time he met you was at an awards show, where you and your group were attending for the first time since your debut months earlier. Despite being rookies compared to Yeonjun and the rest of TXT, your group seemed completely at ease upon meeting the older idols. Your confidence caught Yeonjun's eye immediately.

You maintained eye contact, spoke clearly, and you had no hesitation when speaking to your sunbaenims. Most freshly debuted idols were still struggling to land their footing in the idol spotlight and were almost always nervous as hell around more experienced idols. You displayed none of the typical traits of a newer idol, acting with the grace and confidence of an idol with years under their belt.

It was no surprise when Yeonjun later learned that you were the leader of your group; but it was a surprise to learn that you had the shortest training period of your whole group before your debut. With only 7 months of training before your debut, there was no way your confidence made any sense to Yeonjun.

Simple intrigue turned into more as your group gained popularity, and you and Yeonjun found yourselves within the same events more and more often. Yeonjun was normally quite confident himself, but when it came to you, all his confidence seemed to disappear. The more time the two of you ran into each other, fleeting conversation turned from polite into sincere interest, the more Yeonjun developed a crush on you.

It was no secret, to you or to anyone else that witnessed Yeonjun stumbling over his words when he spoke to you. Yeonjun always flirted with you when the opportunity arose, choosing to always do so in person even when he had finally gotten your phone number. The sincerity behind his feelings for you was quite clear through his behavior, and the way he chose to only flirt in person. Yeonjun thought he was obvious, yet you never seemed to pick up on the hints he was dropping.

Yeonjun was growing tired of asking you out and giving you the MOST OBVIOUS COMPLIMENTS EVER, and getting nothing in return. He would have given up if it wasn't for the way you teased him constantly, and kissed his cheek. While he was flirting with you mostly with his date invitations, you would always find an excuse to have your hands on him. At this point, a whole year of this back and forth with you, he was going to be as obvious as he could get and just straight up confess. He just... wasn't sure when. or how.

"Jun!" You cheered as your handsome friend poked his head into your practice room. Though you were from different companies, Yeonjun always managed to get his way inside your company's building every time you asked him to help you practice.

Yeonjun grinned as you bounced over to him, wrapping your arms around his waist as you hugged him. Being taller than you, Yeonjun easily placed his head atop yours and wrapped his own arms around you. "Someone's happy to see me," he teased, releasing you from his hold and taking a step back.

You grinned, bouncing a bit as you stood in place. You were.....nervous. For the first time since Yeonjun had met you. "Thank you for coming on such short notice, I really wanted to talk to you before I chickened out."

Yeonjun raised an eyebrow at you, following you as you guided him to the couch in the corner of the room. "What's going on, YN? You're nervous, you're never nervous."

The two of you sitting on the couch, you played idly with your fingers as you bit your lip, preparing yourself for what you were going to say. Deep breath in, deep breath out.

"Okay, one of your group mates told me that you have a crush on me and I don't really know any of them as well as I know you but-- I have a crush on you, so I really really hope this is true and you do."

A moment passed, and then another. Yeonjun was staring at you with wide eyes, blinking at you as he digested your words.

"Are you fucking kidding me?" the first words he breathed out, definitely not the best first response. Your eyes widened in panic, but before you could react more, Yeonjun was already panicking himself.

"Wait wait wait--- I mean YES I DO HAVE A CRUSH ON YOU! but like, you didn't know? this WHOLE TIME, you had no idea?" Yeonjun was completely baffled. Sure, you never really responded to his flirts, but surely you had SOME idea of his feelings??

You poked your tongue out at the blue-haired man. "I've known. I just grew sick of waiting for a confession," your sweet giggle and teasing words made Yeonjun's mouth drop open in surprise.

A grin quickly grew on his face, though, as he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer to him. "You little shit," he laughed, shaking his head at your behavior. Sweet, passionate, teasing kisses were the only thing being practiced in that room this day.

my first jake movie had to be prince of persia although i have no memory of watching it as a kid. i just know i did because my dad played the video game and this sounds like a movie he'd watch too. when prisoners came out on dvd in 2013, i asked my parents to rent the movie because i liked hugh jackman as wolverine. if wolverine is funny, that means prisoners will be funny too, right? WRONG. i was so wrong. i spent almost the entire movie hidden under a blanket, i remember the stares my parents gave me. i was so embarrassed. but i also remember that one good looking man on the screen, wink wink (or well, blink blink) the only jake movies i watched after that were love & other drugs and brokeback mountain. both made me cry, so i loved them. i would stay up late (back in the day when i thought midnight was late) and watch them on television. other than that, my life used to be a sad dark lonely gyllenvoid.

ah, the glorious day when i saw the poster for spider-man far from home. i took a photo, i made sure to crop the guy with the cape, i didn't care for him. pff. i wanted spider-man! i kept telling myself that there was this one dude in the trailer that reminded me of someone, but i couldn't replace him. until i connected the dots!!! that hello quentin / yeah hi honey scene had me shaking in my seat. i came home, i tried googling his name in five different spellings until i got it right. i asked a friend at the time if she knew about jake because i had this new crush on him and she was like "this crush isn't new, you just forgot he existed" (i was juggling with other famous hot men who are double my age, i was busy). so apparently i was into him and i didn't even know about it! anyway! i started looking through jake's tag for gifs and photos, then for fics, then i thought it'd be nice to make a blog to appreciate and reblog the fics (this is when i became a fan of nat and maria from afar! and now they're my friends and i love them so much). a few months after that, i was like sure why not maybe i can write my own stories too. i made this blog at the end of 2019 and here i am, five years later!!! my obsession for jake is stronger than ever.

i stuck to mysterio and jake fics for a while, his filmography was intimidating and it lacked in barbie movies so i was not THAT motivated to get through it at first. i kept an eye on movies that played on television for something he could be in and i found one: enemy. i know jake recently suggested enemy as one of the first movies of his to start with but i could not disagree more. the spiders? yeah no. enemy was my enemy. i saw that it played on a different channel, in english this time, so i gave it a shot. i was intrigued... i went to his wikipedia page and picked one of the shortest movies in his register: demolition. i've said it before and i'll say it again, i loved demolition so much that i watched it twice in the same evening. demolition is the movie that got me hooked. i couldn't understand how underrated it used to be, people barely brought it up! it almost made me forget the spider debacle of enemy, i just wanted to see more of jake.

i'm almost through with his entire filmography now! it's taken me a long time, but i'm proud of myself for watching so many movies that are out of my usual taste. it made me discover so many sides of jake's talent and so many characters that live rent free in my mind. if i could go back in time, i would still choose demolition as the great leap into the jake gyllenhaal multiverse. you didn't ask for all this rambling but shhhh details. i'm curious to know your answer to this question too!!! thank you again, anon! 💖💖💖

Beyond this dark house a train is running away into the night plain. We've all had dreams break fantasies we shaped.

I dragged the boy I was in love with and a few other friends to GGK's book tour pit stop in Calgary, where I was savagely disappointed by how badly he read a sample of Ysabel. Displayed no talent for vocal performance at all. Read almost as if he didn't know how the sentences would end, in a bad way. But you know what, we're human. Everyone's allowed to have flaws.

So the answer about GGK blogs is... I don't seek them out, and don't particularly want to be fannish about them on Tumblr. Some books are like that; some I want to shout about like I've been doing about Tamsyn Muir's Nona the Ninth on @with-my-murder-flute for the last two weeks, and some I just want to take back to my secret cave and devour them where other people can't see.

I love The Fionavar Tapestry with my entire soul, but not my entire brain, and that's uncomfortable. It's a discomfort I'm especially not up to addressing on Tumblr, because like... I don't love how tied he is to a paradigm of queerness being weighed down by heteronormativity, so that queerness is salacious and risqué or just societally sidelined and we don't address the pain that causes because everyone just takes that for granted. But I also think in some senses it's a more accurate reflection of the past than modern queer-positive fantasy, and it's important and useful to keep around reminders of what the world before gay liberation was like. I will candidly admit that I don't actually want to praise him unconditionally and hold him up as an author I would recommend to everybody. He's problematic, you know? I think a lot of his books are him trying to approach a concept, and only capturing it in wisps, and that's especially true when he tries to write about sex and gender relations.

But, the thought of sitting through Tumblr discourse about how he's homophobic and bad gay representation/not homophobic at all and very important and validating actually? Gag me with a spoon. I hate doing that about media I'm enthused with but have no personal stake in, so doing it with something I love so intimately, with pieces of my soul poured into the honeycomb of its matrix, would be torture. When I was fourteen, The Summer Tree convinced me that I'd have a life outside the depression that was crushing me like a stone. It showed me how to imagine a future for myself. I really don't want that tangled up in Tumblr wrangles.

Oh, I do have a fic rec: the late legionseagle wrote The Road Goes Ever On and On, a non-Ysabel-compliant story about a Toronto cop who can't get past the old cold missing persons case of Jennifer Lowell.

This is the shortest yet the sweetest book I've ever read, it was so good I devoured it all in one sitting...(or I just had nothing to do anyways) .The story is about Ella, who is trying to piece her life back together after losing memory of 11 weeks because of a car accident. She finds trails of paper hearts filled with clues about what happened in those 11 weeks, by her mysterious secret admirer. And while doing that she meets Andy and together they go on the adventure of filling those 11 weeks.

And Andy... Omg the moment I found out he works at a library and reads I was sold, the way he was always telling Ella fun facts and them talking about books and they were so cute together I was smiling the whole time 😭❤️

It's a bit predictable at times but pretty quick and fun read.

thin, straight dark blonde (I used to have very light blonde hair and it got dark the second I turned 34) It's down a little past my shoulders which is the longest it has ever been in my life.

when I dyed it black, even though I liked it. It's just really hard to deal with when you want it gone. I cut my hair off and started over.

Corkscrew is: favorite folktale. Which is both the most fun and the hardest to answer. There are just so many great ones from all parts of the World. So, thank you for the opportunity to let out some of my love.

One of my favorite sub-genres is: someone is trying to accomplish something on the shortest night of the year.

* I've seen several rocks with origin story like: an evil magician/witch/lesser devil tries to destroy a town where people are just too good and too happy. So, on the first night of summer they try to drop this huge rock on this town, for the good folk to either perish or at least be not as happy anymore. But, since the night is too short, the magic fades away too soon, dropping the rock right on top of our villain, crushing them to death if they were mortal.

* My favorite one with a treasure only accessible on the first night of summer: there is a cave under a waterfall, thet you can only enter on one night, and only on hot summers. There, if you're brave enough to pass through numerous monsters and spooks with not a trace of fear in your heart, you will reach the innermost chamber, where a princess sleeps a magical sleep surrounded by all her treasure. There was but one man brave enough to pass through the labyrinth of caves and tunnels not even flinching at monsters growling at him or wights tugging at his clothes. He reached the princess, more beautiful than the tales he heard, sleeping soundly. At last he found a thorn of a poisonous plant in her foot and yanked it out--at which her eyes finally opened and filled with tears of pain. And this man, the bravest one ever, with no fear in his heart, startled at the sound of her cry. Which was enough for the monsters lurking in the dark to sense his fear and devour him. That year, once again, the river turned red from the blood of another brave young man.

But then, I've been researching more interesting pieces of werewolf lore lately, and I just can't not mention any of that.

* There's a story of a cursed wedding: all the guests as well as the young couple disappeared suddenly in the middle of the feast, no trace left of anyone. However, since that night a pack of wolves started roaming around the area. When some locals hunted one of them, it turned out that there are wedding clothes hidden under the wolf's pelt. They all got cursed by a neighbor who wasn't invited to the wedding and got mad about it.

* There's also one that is more literature than folklore, but it shaped my whole idea of what a werewolf story should be, so here it goes: a young man goes to war, leaving his fiancee behind, though she begged him not to leave before marrying her. He eased her worries though and promised to come back in a year. Year had passed with no sign from him, so the girl went to a witch, to ask if she had any means of seeing 'her lost brother'. "He's no brother to you, but a lover," the witch says, "and I can see him safe and healthy, with a lovely new wife".

The girl goes to see it all with her own eyes, and, exactly as the witch told her: a nice home, a lovely wife, and her unfaithful lover, who of course refuses to explain anything and pretends not to know her. So, in justified anger, she returns to the witch asking for a way to panish the asshole, and receives a talisman to hang around his neck. The moment she puts it on him, he turns into a wolf, kills his wife as well as his former fiancee, and in the end also finds and kills the witch.

I read it when I was 10 and it still lives rent-free in my mind.

Are you a hypocrite? Literally every single human being you will ever meet has some hypocritical tendencies, but I definitely try to avoid hypocrisy as much as I can; I try to be mindful of whether or not I'm behaving according to my own values that I expect to see in others, too.

What are your favourite textures? Soft things as far as feel goes. In foods, I want to say I generally enjoy softer things too, especially when they have some sort of gentle give to them, like bread products.

Have you ever babysat before? Like, twice. And the second was against my will.

I did in the cases of Jason and Sara, granted they're the only ones I HAD pictures with, but those needed to be deleted for the sake of my own healing. Do you have any weird phobias? Whale sharks.

Have you ever felt an earthquake? No. The odds of them happening here are very, very low, and we've (to my knowledge) never had an even moderate one, just tiny ones. One did happen a long time ago where I live that residents felt, but I was hours away so felt nothing. It was incredible though, just how visually everyone at the zoo just fucking stopped en masse at like the same time to pick up their phones, I'm sure from families checking if they were okay and all.

What store in the mall would you never get caught in? Hollister is one, and Abercrombie & Fitch. They're owned by horrible people with absolutely terrible values and disgusting rules.

Are you independent or dependent? I am agonizingly dependent, and it's a problem I've been trying to fix for a long time, but it's extremely hard.

Have you had any candy this week? Too much honestly because of Valentine's Day.

Are you more afraid of tornadoes or hurricanes? I am astronomically more afraid of tornadoes. I've grown up with hurricanes, so those I really just shrug at unless they're like, maybe category four.

When was the last time you went fishing? The last time Sara was here and we went catfishing with my dad, so multiple years ago.

Is there something you’re not looking forward to? Yes, I have my first gynecologist appointment this upcoming week and I'm absofuckinglutely dreading it because I am fully aware I'm going to have a panic attack and cry and just be extremely difficult. It's not a "probably" sort of thing, it is GOING to happen.

How many shirts do you have of your favorite band? I have... two Ozzy ones maybe, and surprisingly no Rammstein ones even though I want some.

How do you want your wedding to be? Gothic-themed, hopefully with a black and gold color scheme, and take place in autumn. I refuse to have a pastor officiate my wedding, but some other official. I'd love for the venue to be some sort of building with heavy gothic architecture and decor, but I know that is incredibly unlikely.

Who was your first crush, and what were they like?

I was in seventh grade and they were always sad.

Can you describe what your first heartbreak was like?

I've had my heart broken a lot, but i guess the first real one was when I was 17-18, and it was mostly because I couldn't believe I allowed myself to be treated so badly. My longest heartbreak was at 19-20ish. My shortest was at 23.

What was the biggest lesson from your worst breakup?

I learned that someone that actually loves you will not push you away or make you change who you are during difficult times.

What's something you used to believe about relationships but no longer do?

Hmmm, that it's all about giving. It's not. You gotta take as well. It's a team effort.

What's something surprising that you were afraid of as a child?

I've been afraid of death since I was 8.
