I’m actually pretty happy about the cardinal going to Hunter. I think it would’ve been too straightforward and predictable if the cardinal was Luz’s, especially when Dana said they were trying to avoid spoilers in the season 2 trailer but Luz and the cardinal were littered throughout it

It also shows that the palismen really do care about what the kids’ want in the future, none of them went to Luz out of sympathy or gratitude for saving them. The cardinal constantly wanted to escape and explore, just like Hunter. It also further establishes the conflict of his uncle being anti-wild magic while he’s extremely interested in it

I’m really glad that Eda and King got Luz the palismen wood, as carving her own path has always been a major theme with Luz since episode one. I think whatever she chooses to carve, it’ll reflect her time in both realms (more specifically with her mom and her new friends, as Luz is a very relationship-driven character)
