I have a lot of feelings about the use of AI in Everything These Days, but they're not particularly strong feelings, like I've got other shit going on. That said, when I use a desktop computer, every single file I use in Google Drive now has a constant irritating popup on the right-hand side asking me how Gemini AI Can Help Me. You can't, Gemini. You are in the way. I'm not even mad there's an AI there, I'm mad there's a constantly recurring popup taking up space and attention on my screen.

Here's the problem, however: even Gemini doesn't know how to disable Gemini. I did my own research and then finally, with a deep appreciation of the irony of this, I asked it how to turn it off. It said in any google drive file go to Help > Gemini and there will be an option to turn it off. Guess what isn't a menu item under Help?

I've had a look around at web tutorials for removing or blocking it, but they are either out of date or for the Gemini personal assistant, which I already don't have, and thus cannot turn off. Gemini for Drive is an integrated "service" within Google Drive, which I guess means I'm going to have to look into moving off Google Drive.

So, does anyone have references for a service as seamless and accessible as Google Drive? I need document, spreadsheet, slideshow, and storage, but I don't have any fancy widgets installed or anything. I do technically own Microsoft Office so I suppose I could use that but I've never found its cloud function to actually, uh, function. I could use OneNote for documents if things get desperate but OneNote is very limited overall. I want to be able to open and edit files, including on an Android phone, and I'd prefer if I didn't have to receive a security code in my text messages every time I log in. I also will likely need to be able to give non-users access, but I suppose I could kludge that in Drive as long as I only have to deal with it short-term.

Any thoughts, friends? If I find a good functional replacement I'm happy to post about it once I've tested it.

Our next order of birds are the Procellariiformes, collectively called “tubenoses.” They are comprised of the living families Procellariidae (“petrels” and “shearwaters”), Diomedeidae (“albatrosses”), Hydrobatidae (“northern storm petrels”), and Oceanitidae (“austral storm petrels”).

Procellariiformes live almost exclusively on the open ocean. Their nostrils are enclosed in one or two tubes on their straight, deeply-grooved bills with hooked tips. Procellariiformes that nest in burrows have a strong sense of smell, being able to detect dimethyl sulfide released from plankton in the ocean. This strong sense of smell helps to locate patchily distributed prey at sea and may also help locate their nests within nesting colonies. Their wings are long and narrow. Their feet are webbed, and the hind toe is undeveloped or non-existent. Procellariiforms drink seawater, so they have an enlarged nasal gland at the base of the bill, above the eyes, which removes salt from their system and forms a 5 percent saline solution that drips out of the nostrils, or is forcibly ejected in some petrels. Many are long-distance migrants. They live in every ocean and sea, from Greenland to Antarctica, but are most diverse around New Zealand. Procellariiformes are for the most part exclusively marine foragers; the only exception to this rule are the two species of giant petrel, which regularly feed on carrion or other seabirds while on land. The diet of most species is dominated by fish, squid, krill, and other marine zooplankton. The Bermuda Petrel (Pterodroma cahow) was thought to be extinct for 300 years, until the dramatic rediscovery in 1951 of eighteen nesting pairs made it a "Lazarus species".

The principal threat to the albatrosses and larger species of procellariids is long-line fishing. Bait set on hooks is attractive to foraging birds and many are hooked by the lines as they are set. As many as 100,000 albatrosses are hooked and drown each year on tuna lines set out by long-line fisheries. Invasive species introduced to the remote breeding colonies threaten all types of procellariiform. Most albatross and petrel species are clumsy on land and unable to defend themselves from mammals such as rats, Domestic Cats, and Domestic Pigs. Other threats include the ingestion of plastic flotsam. Once swallowed, plastic can cause a general decline in the fitness of the bird, or in some cases lodge in the gut and cause a blockage, leading to death by starvation. Procellariids are also vulnerable to marine pollution, as well as oil spills. Some species which nest high up on large developed islands, are victims of light pollution. Fledging chicks, which would use the night sky to navigate, are attracted to streetlights and may then be unable to reach the sea. Jawsin's the solution to budget cuts, as he's the best at disguises and his entire room is full of costumes to transform him into whatever is needed that day. There are several episodes that have one-time antagonists, only for said antagonist to be revealed as Jawsin at the end of said episode. Some say it's left Jawsin without a sense of self - never knowing who he is really is. Hardly anyone sees him without a costume - Jawsin makes it that way, as there is plenty of nervousness that follows if he isn't disguised. A shark appears to be his favorite suit.

If Jawsin is discovered while wearing a Twisted disguise, it will be like if a toon was being pursued, music starting and all, but since Jawsin is the one in disguise, nothing will happen if the toon chooses.

Jawsin is pronounced "Jason" but with an added W behind it and the o turned into an i. I did it for the sake of the pun.

Jawsin is purely a he/him male - even if he disguises himself as a female toon, it will be less believable as he wiil get a sense of dysphoria when inside the costume. It's why the episodes that Jawsin is featured in consists of antagonists that are either male or genderless. Jawsin's gender is one of the only remaining parts of his identity he can latch onto.

Suffers from panic/anxiety attacks outside of costumes and acting. Acting is what keeps him away from the negativity plaguing him.

Jawsin's favorite color is blue, so his speech will be colored as such.

Jawsin's costumes will often move all lifelike when he wears them, but it's mainly an illusion.

He's short - probably amongst the shortest toons.

Has learned to walk on stilts!

Jawsin has a room that's the size of a storage closet - because that's where he keeps all of his costumes. He will often sleep on top of them as he has no furniture in there.

Jawsin values his own life little outside of acting, so when the show was being canceled - he was probably the most crushed, but one of his last episodes would be the other toons helping Jawsin find his individuality, but the plot was scrapped in favor of the main character toons getting more screentime.

Because of this, Jawsin still has yet to value his individuality.

Important Update (Family Crisis) #4

Sorry I haven't been able to give you guys another update in awhile, a lot has happened. Thankfully though, most of it will be good for us in the long run. There's also the matter of not having much access to wifi atm which is still an issue we're trying to come up with a good solution for apart from using the hotspot wifi connection on our phones. Anyways, long story short we're FINALLY free from that horrible place for good and got everything safely moved into a storage unit.

Everything important that is, the rest can be replaced.

Now it's just a matter of slowly rebuilding our lives one step at a time and continuing to look for a new home because we're not planning on staying with this other friend of ours (who has been an absolute angel btw) long term if we can help it.
