Movie/Game/Show: My Hero Academia Dynamic: League of Villains/Reader (Platonic) Warnings: uhh idk actually, dabi's kinda horny ig, i don't usually include this as a warning but swearing (there's quite a bit of it), feminine pronouns Summary: this is just 1860 words of me shutting my eyes, plugging my ears and ignoring the current state of the manga (: (beach episode type beat) ~~~

Pulling the large sun hat tighter on her head, (Y/n) looks over as her leader strolls up to the van Spinner had stolen earlier in the day. She quirks a brow at the man, putting a gentle hand over his handheld and pushing it down when he doesn’t notice her, “That’s what you’re wearing?”

Tomura huffs and steps back, narrowed eyes focusing on his black jeans and hoodie, “What’s it to you?”

“You’re wearing a hoodie in this heat, first of all, and also - it says ‘12 year old in gaming mode’, you’re asking to get bullied.”

“Yeah, well,” he grumbles as he tries to find an insult for the woman before resigning himself to mumble out a, “you look like you raided a college chick’s closet” while returning to his game.

“I think she looks great!” Twice piped up from inside the large van before yelling once again, “Absolutely hideous!”

Dabi nodded slightly from his window seat, pulling the strings of his hood so as few inches of his face as possible were showing, “I agree with him.”

“Which part?” (Y/n) crossed her arms, shooting the man a glare.

“Yep.”

“Dickface,” she hissed, reaching up to swat at Dabi’s arm through the rolled down window before turning to climb into the van, “A dickface who is also wearing a black hoodie in this heat. You two are actual nutjobs.”

“Van’s got AC,” Dabi shrugged off her concerns, still not even looking her way as she settled into the seat between him and Twice, “Didn’t know you cared so much, doll. Pretty sweet of you.”

“If you pass out from a heat stroke, I’m not the one taking you to the hospital,” she leaned over into the midrow seats of the van to glare at Tomura as he sat down, “That goes for you, too.”

“I’m not the one with a fire Quirk.”

“Just get Himiko some blood and she’ll take ‘em in all disguised! Let them die!” Twice pitched in with his own ideas, earning a shoulder pat from the woman.

“Good ideas, big guy, I like them.”

“Rude ass,” Dabi kicks at (Y/n)’s leg.

“I’m your boss, if you let me die you’re fucked.”

“Nobody’s dying on this trip, what the fuck are you guys talking about?” Spinner already appeared exasperated with the group and he’d barely been in the car for a second.

Compress got into the passenger seat as Spinner buckled into the driver’s side, he looked around before noticing an absence, “Where’s Toga?”

Suddenly, the door to Tomura’s seat is lugged open with a force, an overly excited blond teenager jumping over her boss and into the open seat beside him.

“You could’ve just gotten in on the other side,” Tomura clenches a fist to keep himself from slapping Himiko’s arm and causing a deathly accident.

“I didn’t know which side you were sitting on, so I just guessed!” Himiko giggles as Spinner starts the car.

“Asshole,” Tomura shakes his head, “This trip is pointless.”

“Kurogiri wants us to bond and stop fighting all the time,” Compress cuts in, “That’s why I’m in charge.”

“We’re adults- " (Y/n) interrupts herself, “Dabi, roll up the window, we’re pulling out of the safe zone.”

Dabi merely keeps his eyes closed behind his sunglasses and presses his head back against the neck rest of his seat.

“Roll up the window.”

“God, these winds are fuckin’ noisy, huh?”

“I hear ya, man!” Twice shouts before shaking his head, “Dabi, be nice to (Y/n). She’s your elder.”

“By a fucking year! Man, fuck you, Dabi,” the woman reaches over and presses the button to roll up the window herself, “Motion sickness or not, you don’t get to be a douche.”

“It’s actually exactly what it means, doll. Sorry to burst your bubble.”

“Stop calling me doll.”

“Ugh,” he grins at his own upcoming remark, “the princess makes a harsh demand.”

“I’m this close,” she pats his chest to make sure he opens his eyes before holding her index finger and thumb nearly pinched together in front of his face, “to beating your ass.”

“Here,” he reaches up and takes her fingers and clenches them together, “now you have to. As soon as we get to the beach, you have to fight me or else you’re a coward and a liar.”

(Y/n) grits her teeth and snaps her eyes shut, “I’m gonna lose it,” she leans into Twice’s side and looks up at him, smiling at the slightest hint of a concerned look behind his mask, “How’ve you been, big guy?”

“Perfectly fine!” he shakes his head before whispering, “I didn’t piss before we left and now I regret it.”

“Aw, want Spinner to pull over?”

“I think he’ll crash the car if I ask.”

“He’d be killing himself too, so I don’t think he’d be too cool with that.”

Twice quiets down as he notices the woman’s eyes beginning to flutter shut with drowsiness. Then, a sense of guilt beats at him as he sees the serene expression crossing his friend’s face. So calm and sweet - he truly adored his friend, and he wanted to do right by her. So, leaning down, he murmurs, “Sorry for calling you old.”

(Y/n)’s eyes dart open and immediately find Twice, she raises a brow at the man and shakes her head as her eyes slowly begin closing again, “I… it’s fine, dude, don’t worry about it.”

Dabi, as usual, is quick to jump into a conversation that was never his, “Old lady tempers, gotta be careful around them.”

“I swear to fucking God, Dabi!”

“What? What do you swear?”

“Shut the hell up!” Spinner snapped at children in the back seat, “You’re distracting me, loud asses.”

“Dabi started it!”

“I’m ending it!”

“Stop yelling,” Tomura commanded the group, carefully stuffing his handheld into his large front hoodie pocket and resting his head back, “I’m going to sleep and if I get woken up, I’ll kill you all.”

None of them believed him - not at all - but out of an odd respect for their leader’s need for rest, they stayed relatively silent as he slept. Murmurs and whispers being the loudest volume of their voices as Tomura snoozed in the van.

Eventually, Spinner came to the reserved spot on the beach that Kurogiri definitely didn’t hire people to kill civilians over. Himiko leaned over and gently shook Tomura awake as Compress popped the trunk to the van. (Y/n) shifted toward Dabi to ensure he was also awake and starting to feel less queasy before getting out of the middle seat so he and Twice could exit.

“Alright, there’s changing rooms…” Compress trailed off, looking around before sighing, “Nowhere in sight.”

“I’m already fine,” (Y/n) waved off, grabbing towels and an umbrella from Spinner, “You guys can take turns changing in the van while I set shit up.”

“I call first!” Himiko cheered, excitedly bouncing back into the van as the men all walked off to provide the teenager the privacy and distance she needed.

(Y/n) did as she’d said and began laying down towels and propping up parasols in the sand to provide shade. As more and more of her friends collected themselves along the beach, she spotted her almighty leader once again making a fashion mistake.

Bright, neon green and orange striped swim trunks hung over his hips and he didn’t avoid the woman’s stare. She purses her lips, “Who the hell goes clothes shopping for you? They shouldn’t be making executive decisions like this.”

Tomura shrugs, “I don’t know.”

“What do you mean you don’t know?! Shigaraki, you have to be fucking with me.”

“I’m not,” he sits down on a towel under the parasol’s shade and returns to his gaming, “It’s probably Kurogiri but it isn’t like I ask him.”

“Holy shit. You’re an actual man-child.”

“Oh no, what gave me away?” he sarcastically whines, rolling his eyes at her.

“You being shameless about it is slightly worse…”

“(Y/n)!” Himiko cheerily calls, “Come join me in volleyball!”

“Is Twice playing?”

The blond looks over to the man in question and nods in approval.

“Are Quirks allowed?”

Another nod.

(Y/n) pats Compress’ shoulder, “I’ll let you take this game.”

Dabi comes up from behind while Spinner serves the ball on the beach, he’s removed his hoodie and now only rests in loose shorts that come to his knees and a white shirt. He scratches the back of his head in an uncharacteristically unnerved manner, “Not swimmin’?”

He earns a small shrug in response from the woman, “I’m not all too committed to the idea. At least not now.”

Nodding slowly, Dabi sits down at the edge of the towel unoccupied by Tomura and begins pulling at the fraying threads.

Sighing to herself, (Y/n) is slightly ashamed at how easily her heart softens upon noticing how uncomfortable Dabi seems. He doesn’t usually show as much skin as he is - which isn’t much - and he doesn’t usually throw himself into events where he’d be forced to interact with the others. He feels naked on the beach and he’d rather be dead than continue to suffer this embarrassment. And so, a body comes down onto the towel with his.

“Want company, misery?”

“Baking to death in the sun couldn’t get worse, even if it’s with you,” Dabi leaned back to rest against the woman’s legs.

“Wow,” (Y/n) fauxly gasped, sarcasm ripe in her words, “You being sweet? I never thought I’d never see the day.”

“Right? Thought I’d be dead by now,” his head tips back even more to lay it’s full weight on her legs, “You’re comfortable to rest on, old lady.”

“I’m gonna beat the shit out of you.”

“You still owe him an ass-beating from the car ride,” Tomura jumped in, a snarky smile on his lips as he spoke.

“I’m starting to think you won’t actually beat my ass,” Dabi grins smugly, “Like me too much.”

“I would destroy you in a fight, Dabi.”

“Hm, well, until you stop being a pussy and actually fight me, doesn’t sound like that’s the truth.”

“I swear to- " (Y/n) loudly huffs and cuts herself off before groaning, Dabi- "

“I’m no God,” Dabi paused to wink like the cheap bastard he is, “Unless you want me to be.”

Before the woman can respond, there’s a “heads up!” shouted by Himiko and a volleyball is hurtling towards the arguing duo. Tomura immediately leans over, not quite paying attention and sticks a hand out to block the ball, accidentally decaying it in the process. The leader comes to a stand and tosses up his hands, “What the shit, Toga?”

“Man,” the teenager whined, stomping her foot in the sand, “you destroyed the ball.”

“You almost destroyed (Y/n)’s face!” Tomura's voice quiets and softens to avoid upsetting the young girl over a mistake, “There’s probably another ball in the trunk.”

“I said ‘heads up’,” Himiko rolled her eyes, sending Twice off to find the spare volleyball in question.

(Y/n) rolled her eyes, “Oh, so all better, then?”

“Exactly!”

“No! That’s not how that works, Toga!”

Dabi snickered at the back-and-forth before giving a mock dreamy sigh, “Ahh, the sound of Kurogiri’s bonding plan working perfectly.”

where do you buy your clothes from or which brands would you recommend. Honestly it givens me anxiety because I have zero fashion sense and am so lost.

hey :) I don't think telling you where I shop will be helpful bc I shop at a lot of different places but I also don't shop without the purpose of finding something specific. furthermore, everyone has different preferences so that is something you have to learn through trial and error. a "fashion sense" is something that can be developed, so don't let the idea that you don't have one overwhelm you. it's important that you learn what things you like / work for you / your lifestyle instead of basing what you should wear on what a trend or other person thinks you should wear.

some tips to begin creating a wardrobe you feel best in:

when you see someone who's style is something you want to embody, take a photo of the outfit and note what elements of that outfit that you like. is it the color? any design elements like ruffles? any specific patterns? -- see if in your collection of style inspo there are any themes or elements that you can take and incorporate into your own wardrobe

pay attention to fabrics - look at the labels of the clothes you have that you feel best or most comfortable in, pay attention to their composition and look for pieces that have similar composition

think about what you do day to day, are you a student? do you work? what kind of climate do you live in? -- I really hate those tiktoks/ig reels that tell people they need to have a black leather jacket or other specific items bc yeah, everyone needs outerwear but that doesn't mean that someone else's staple outerwear will be yours too. so think about what you like and invest in a piece that works for you best.

so yeah just think about these day to day garments and what kind of pieces fit into your wardrobe from a functional perspective, but then think about stylistic things that you like and see if you can find something that works. (example: you need a light jacket for in between weather and you prefer a denim jacket over something like a trench, both are great, both can be considered staples, but everyone has their own preferences. then say you decide on a denim, do you like a relaxed fit or something with more structure? would going for a weird color like pink work as a statement piece with the rest of your clothes or do you prefer a black denim or classic blue? the world is your pickle!)

try on lots of different crops and silhouettes of pants and figure out what you feel most comfortable in, and then you can have them in different colors and fabrics. from denim, to leather, to checked trousers, etc. -- if you prefer different bottoms like skirt or something, then same thing!

with tops you can do more or less the same, figure out what you like. are you someone who prefers blouses? button downs? t-shirt with blazers? do you like structure? do you like flow? -- find your bliss and then find a way to give yourself variety within that realm

I think accessories really pull an outfit together, so if you have a good bag and a good pair of shoes that go well together, the rest of your outfit automatically looks thoughtful + elevated

don't shop unless you have a particular item in mind. example: I was recently looking for a linen blazer, so that's the filter with which I was browsing

take time. you will never regret a purchase that you took the time to try on and figure out if you really enjoy the piece. don't buy something just because it's ridiculously on sale if it's not also a piece you can see yourself truly wearing

my last bit of advice: don't dress to be perceived as "fashionable" - it's like when people say they're kind. there are some things you shouldn't have to say overtly for people to know they're true

These have been sitting in my drafts for 1,5 year now so I decided to finish them and dedicate these to @quietcelt because she's gonna leave Tumblr soon... Me be sad...

Anka: Doesn’t have her own vlogs, she films Mitabi’s vlogs and comes up with fitness challenges for him to take part in. Posted three ASMR videos in five years and though they do good she forgot about them.

Mitabi: Sports vlog, workout routines, tips and tricks to boost your strength and endurance (How-to-pose-as-a-fitboy-for-instagram-and-get-10000000-likes).

Gustav: Has this online book club vlog in which he discusses and analyses books (and the movie adaptations).

Ian: No vlogs, but meme compilations. Rico is just shaking her head (but watches all of his videos secretly when Ian is asleep.

Rico: No vlogs.

Pixis: Doesn’t know what a vlog is.

Erwin: Tries to vlog his day-in-the-life-vlog but forgets to press ‘start recording’ so his videos are twenty minutes of black screen. Still has many followers on IG because everyone is fangirling in the comment section of his selfies.

Levi: Cleaning up with Levi. Top ten best cleaning products. Tea blends ranked. Cleaning life hacks. The importance of cleaning. Sometimes a workout video no one can keep up with, but everyone watches it to see his abs.

Mike: Full series on how to train every dog in easy and doable steps, from pup tot old doggo, shy or aggressive, with Mikes advice you will have 100% success.

Hanji: Your new favorite online chemistry teacher, will save your grades and your degrees singlehandedly. Considered starting an OnlyFans but the other vets forbade it.

Moblit: Sometimes tutorials on how to draw things, mostly vlogs his experience when visiting museums and galleries, also includes art history information in videos because he actually knows a lot. Don’t get him started on Brunelleschi’s talent, Moblit is a fangirl.

Nanaba: Made a small series in which she talked about childhood abuse and her abusive father, to break stigma and make the topic more discussable. She also told about how she overcame her past. It’s the only series she made but had many many views and loads of positive and supporting comments.

Eld: Challenge/prank videos with Gunther, sometimes family vlog with his wife and mostly his baby girl because he has to share her cuteness with the world. Every milestone is caught on tape.

Gunther: Loves the challenge-vlogs with Eld but hates the pranks. He joins Elds vlogs and balances Elds goofiness with serious and witty remarks. They would be a great duo to do some Buzzfeed Unsolved kinda videos.

Oluo: Life with all his brothers. How to keep them happy, and how to survive being the eldest and coolest of all the kids. Vlogs about taking them to theme parks and fun stuff. Many views because his brothers are hella cute, fucking funny and 7-year-old legends for life already.

Petra: Shows up in Nifa’s video’s. They often go shopping together, and she is basically in all Nifa’s vlogs. A Nifa vlog without Petra would truly confuse the audience by now. They be like: “Why is Petra not in this video?” “Where is Petra?” “Nothing bad happened to Petra right?”

Nifa: Come shopping with me vlogs, make-up tutorials, what’s the latest fashion news. Home deco vlogs. This girl is queen on the internet. She can literally vlog her morning routine with her bed hair and pyjama’s and still would get thousands of likes. The popularity of her vlogs opened the doors for her to design and release her first own clothing line.

Gelgar: Vlogs how he parties with his friends, how many tequilas he can down in 1 minute, the weird drunken antics caught on cam. He has 4 followers.

Mikasa: No vlogs.

Eren: Plays videogames for content, always gets way too aggressive and impatient. He only gets views because of his anger outbursts, gets approximately 10 likes and 1 thumbs down from Jean.

Armin: CrashCourse-like content, vlogs about scientific topics he will explain to make it understandable for the bigger crowd. Also saved a lot of grades and degrees.

Connie: Gameplay, walkthroughs and tutorials, almost professional gamer: he even makes money with it. Gets limited pre-access to games so he can promote the new game releases with his game content.

Jean: Cooks recipes, foodie, meal tutorials and Sasha rates his meals. Sometimes games with Connie.

Sasha: Appears in Jeans vlog and rates his food.

Historia: reaction videos. Rates everyone else’s vlogs. Witty comments. Did the fuck-marry-kill challenge once for the others (snk characters), and the viewers went WILD.

I tried to do as many mutuals that I normally talk to/interact with so I’m so sorry if I missed you!!! It’s not really an aesthetic or vibe but a scene/emotion, ig, that they reminded me of or I could envision for them...? Everyone got one scene but this ended up being way too long with all the mutuals I did too so it’s all under the cut !

@jaesmintea — You’re hard at work at your desk when your friends barge into your dorm with a dramatic flourish, pulling you out of your desk before you can even blink. Though you complain of an early class the next morning, you’re smiling, and anticipation swirls in your gut, shines in your eyes. You willingly get caught up in the storm of your friends as they animatedly prepare for another night of adventure.

@valentinesicheng — It’s about to storm. There’s a distant rumbling of thunder, and the air is heavy, though not oppressively so. You take in the comforting orange of the sunset as you push open the door of your childhood home, and you make your way up the familiar steps to begin cleaning out some old belongings that have been sitting in the storage room for a little too long. Nostalgia sits in the pit of your stomach as you rummage through each box, but you don’t feel regretful as you place items in the give away pile; objects may come and go, but memories stay.

Writing down notes and finishing products that you wrap up neatly into a box, ready to be shipped. Once you start working, it’s hard to stop; you want to finish quickly yet well-done, and you’re almost caught off guard when you turn around to find no more work to do. It’s refreshing; it’s rewarding to know you’ve done your best, and that hard work pays off.

@coshuangmos — One. Two more. Four more stacked on top that veers to the side dangerously. You didn’t seem to notice, or rather, mind, the increasingly large pile of books beside you as you browsed the shelves. How were you supposed to pass by without taking a few? Books were invaluable; they taught you skills, they took you on adventures, they informed you and made you feel a plethora of emotions you didn’t think you’d ever experience in your everyday life. You carefully lifted your stack and made your way to the counter. You didn’t realize how long you had been standing before the masterpiece, your hand stiff from being cupped under your chin, your blazer uncomfortably cinched around your shoulders. You clear your throat quietly as you smooth out your outfit and your features, and you glanced behind you at the rest of the gallery. Patrons amble around, stopping before statues and art pieces for only a few moments before continuing on their way again. You give the painting one more longing glance before placing your hands in your pockets and stepping away to mimick the other viewers—never realizing the beauty of a moment, the beauty of the creations of humankind.

@4-sun — You sit in your backyard, a book open on your lap and lemonade in hand. You’re supposed to head in soon, you know, but before you can stand, you hear the leaves rustling off to the side. When you look up, you’re staring into the eyes of a deer, gentle yet majestic. You regard each other with a dull sense of respect and wonder before the deer seems to nod and disappears back into the woods.

@jupitersmark — You didn’t realize you were picking up speed as you rode down your subdivision’s sidewalk. The morning air felt refreshing as you passed people walking, and you stopped pedaling to glide by. The trees and houses passed by in a blur, and you felt the urge to close your eyes and simply feel the movement of your bike, your body, your bones. Your eyes only snapped open when a crack in the sidewalk almost sent you toppling sideways.

@henderbeans — You pushed the gas station door open lazily and strode over to where your friend was sitting on the curb. You joined them, and you stretched your legs out across the asphalt as you took a swig of your slushie. The both of you nodded at some people that entered the store, and your friend passed you the hand-held fan as they pulled up a show to watch on their phone. And even though it was unbearably hot, you still rested your head upon their shoulder as the show began.

@jaemericano — “You cheated!” You gasped with a laugh as you threw a blueberry at your friend across the table. They only smiled sheepishly and laid down their cards, saying something about their luck as they took a bite out of an orange slice. The morning breeze kept the summer heat at bay from your porch, and your laughter mingled with it as it carried your voices down the road.

@yinxiong — You purse your lips as you watch the popcorn bag begin to expand in the microwave, taking its sweet time. Your friends ambled back and forth between the living room and the kitchen in search of snacks, and the ding of the microwave seemed to shock them to life as they hurried back to the couch. You snorted as you poured the popcorn into a bowl, and you happily settled between two of your friends as you pressed play, the blue light of the screen illuminating your faces.

@imaginedreamies — You’re dropping in at your favorite cafè quickly before you head to work. Though you keep checking your watch as you wait in line, the second you see the cashier, you can’t help but return their infectious smile. When did the smell of coffee become so potent? When did the atmosphere become so refreshing? And so as you wait for your drink to be made, you decide to ignore time and instead bask in the simplicity of it all.

@xingmis — The bell above the door of the old-fashioned candy shop rings, signaling your arrival. Children, with their parents in tow, dance between your legs as you make your way to the shelves. You pack an assortment of chocolates and candies into a bag, and the man behind the counter is dressed just like an old-timey worker. The shop feels so out-dated, so thrown back in time, that you can’t help the knowing smile that crosses your lips.

@nakyngs — You brushed your fingers through your dog’s fur absently, a smile playing at your lips. The second you went to pull your hand away, he whined and gave you pleading eyes. “Oh, fine, just a little while longer,” and he happily nuzzled back into your hand as your petting was renewed with an affectionate vigor, your face pressing against his scruff with a fond giggle.

I was blocked by TDL a month or two ago (not exactly sure why, but I have a hunch that she chain-blocked anyone who liked portrait's post about women/lesbians in the larrie community) and I'm honestly glad I was. I occasionally check her blog on web when someone mentions something about her here that interests me, but I come away feeling absolutely sick every single time. She's truly a vile human being, from the way she honestly believes that the people she's harassing are checking up on her blog, to the way she treats her anons like they're no better than the dirt on her shoes. Jacob yawned and sunk deeper into his loveseat. There were a dozen things he would rather be doing than listening to Henry prattle on about intel and paperwork. This was Evie’s forte, not his. He was the enforcer. He beat people up and raced carriages, not puzzled over... puzzles.

“The only obstacle,” Henry continued as Jacob watched leafy shadows dance on the car’s floor, “is they are both in locked boxes, behind locked doors, behind a guard rotation.”

“Guards aren’t a problem,” Jacob put in.

“I don’t expect them to be,” Henry assured. “My concern is for the locks. Can either of you pick them?” Jacob polished a spot of dried blood off his gauntlet.

“Can’t we just steal a key?”

“No one on site carries one. The only key is held by the owner of the buildings, who is currently in New York.”

Evie hummed. “Do you know someone who could teach us?”

“I can teach you, partially. It is probably better to learn from someone else, however...” Henry shuffled for a paper on his desk and handed it to Evie. “This is Y/N L/N. She owns a small produce store a few blocks from here. Don’t let her propriety fool you-- I’ve never met anyone better at finessing a lock than this woman. I can call in a favor for her instruction.”

Jacob stood and peered over his sister’s shoulder at the sketch. “A grocer? Is that a cover job?”

Henry chuckled. “Oh, no, she hasn't the stomach for our work. She nearly fainted once after watching a rat get caught underhoof. I don't know where she learned her skills, but she is the best I have to offer, and I daresay the best in the city. She should be open now, if you’re ready.”

Miss Y/N’s shop was heavy with the perfume of flowers, and Jacob had to duck under a clothesline of dried bundles as he came in her door. There were more strung up along her counter, and a couple little dancing animal figurines decorating the top of her cashbox.

“Good morning!” a voice chirped from between the tall aisles. A woman appeared, dressed simply, with a towel slung over one shoulder. She paused when she saw them, but her smile faltered only for a second before it returned. “Oh, hello there! What can I do you for?”

“Henry Green said you might be able to help us,” Evie clasped her hands at her middle, trying to present them peacefully. Jacob peered down at the shopkeeper as she assessed them, pretty eyes flickering behind wispy butterfly lashes. She didn’t linger on him long, but he recognized her full once-over of him.

“You must be the Frye twins, then,” she concluded. “What did Henry say your names were, again? Eva and John?”

“Jacob,” Jacob corrected firmly, and Evie shifted her weight, just happening to trod upon his toes as she did so.

“And Evie, Miss L/N.”

“Oh, that’s right!” the woman exclaimed. “Sorry, terribly forgetful.” She tapped a finger on her temple. “Got it from my mother. Poor mum could get lost in a paper bag. Evie and Jacob. Got it. What can I help you with, Evie and Jacob?”

“There’s some paperwork we need to get at, but it’s in lockboxes too hard for us to break. Mr. Green said you’re the best chance to get into them.”

A flush brightened her cheeks, and she chuckled somewhat nervously, clasping her hands at her middle. Jacob narrowed his eyes. “I wouldn’t say the best, but I can certainly see what I can do! Where are these boxes of yours?”

“There are two, across the city, in Blighter warehouses. One is relatively close by,” Evie explained, slapping Jacob with the back of her hand as Y/N shifted uncomfortably under his intense scrutiny. “Your earliest convenience would be appreciated.”

“Oh, no, Miss Evie, I’m afraid I can’t do any of your fancy fighting.” Her eyes met Jacob’s for a heartbeat, but then flickered to his sister again, and she wrung her hands. “Bring the boxes to me and I’ll bust them open for you! I can patch up the locks afterwards, as well, if you’d like to keep your things a little more secure, plus they’re good to learn with. Do you think you can manage that?”

“I believe so, Miss.”

“Wonderful! Now, unless you’d like some apples, there isn’t much I can do for you until I get those boxes.”

“We’ll see you soon, then, Miss.” Evie dipped her head in farewell. Jacob fixed the grocer with a long look as he tipped his hat, and followed his sister out of the shop.

Once around the corner on the way back to the train, Evie smacked Jacob’s chest with some force.

“Ow!” he exclaimed. “What was that for?”

“You’re going to frighten her off with that look you’re giving her. Mr. Green is already helping us at his expense.”

“Oh, I’m sure he doesn’t mind. I’m surprised he didn’t get her for you personally! Hire London’s foremost locksmith, perhaps!”

“Jacob.” The sharp edge to Evie’s voice left little room for argument, and he clacked his jaw shut. It wasn’t worth fighting with her, now. All she would do was quote Father at him again, and ruin his day. Before she could launch into one of her tirades, he separated from her and scaled the nearest building, determined to upstage his sister and get his lockbox to their new friend first.

It was beyond easy to find Y/N. If her bright pink, lace-frilled apron didn’t point her out among the dark fashions of the market street she explored, the large flowers decorating her cap did. A cheerful sunflower called to him all the way up on the London skyline, beckoning him down to greet it. Entirely without his permission, his heart leapt towards her, and he paused for a moment, slightly startled and more than a little concerned. He pulled it back off the edge of the high-rise and settled it back in his chest with a deep breath. He didn’t have time for feelings.

He skipped down the building, keeping to the shady alleyway, and paused again atop a thick clothesline, taking a moment to watch her peruse a ribbon stand. He hardly even noticed when he jumped to the ground, and only came entirely back into his senses when the brisk wharf air blew a decidedly warm scent to him -- of lavender, cloves, and the perfume of those bright flowers on her hat. It hooked at his chest, drawing him towards her headfirst.

He snuck up on her through the crowd, and came to stand beside her as she tucked her recent fabric purchase into the basket on her arm. Before she could turn away and continue shopping, he inclined his head to speak closer to her ear.

“Hello, Y/N.”

Y/N jumped about a foot in the air and away from him, her hands flying to her chest. The yelp that escaped from her curled his lip. “Oh! Goodness, Mister Frye, you frightened me!” She tittered and sighed audibly, readjusting her scarf around her neck. “What can I do for you?”

High on mischief, Jacob grinned at her from beneath his top hat. “You can be outside your shop at 4 o’clock today.” He left her with a wink, and melted back into the London traffic.

For some reason, the prospect of seeing Y/N again spurred Jacob through his day, and he had his lockbox in hand by noon.

“Boy, that’s a vault, that is!” she exclaimed when he arrived with the thing. “There’s no way that will fit through my front door. Bring it around the back, here, i’ll grab a lamp and we can work on it.”

She disappeared back into her shop and then reappeared out the back door as his Rooks were parking the cart. There was still plenty of light to work without it, so she left it atop a nearby barrel and hoisted herself (somewhat awkwardly thanks to her skirts) into the back of the cart. She managed not to topple over, and Jacob followed, perching on the side panel to watch her bust the safe open. He tilted his head at his driver, and the Rooks took their respective posts, in case any Blighters attempted to reclaim what he had rightfully stolen.

Y/N sat, cross-legged, before the lockbox and retrieved a small cloth roll from her pocket. She set it beside her and retrieved a few small, silver tools, and for a few minutes worked in silence.

“Alright!” she said, suddenly. “Home stretch. Get a good pressure point, right... one more... and then we just -- jimmy -- this here -- and there we go!” The lock clicked and the door popped open. She stood and stepped back. “Have at her.”

Papers. Of course he had been sent to retrieve more frigging information. Nothing in it for him, as always. He scowled, but shuffled through the miscellaneous paperwork until he found a small leatherbound notebook with the assassin insignia stamped on the front.

“Brilliant,” he muttered, tucking the book away. Now that that was over, he was eager to move on. The potential places knowing how to unlock this could get him into was motivation enough to want to learn, not to mention this was a perfect opportunity get under Y/N’s skin. Her delicacy was endlessly entertaining. “Now, how does this work?”

Y/N adjusted her skirts to kneel down again, shut the safe door, reengaged the lock, and took a seat. “Tension is everything,” she began. “You need talented fingers to pick locks.” Her eyes lingered on him for a moment as he sat beside her, but he was probably just reading too deep into her words.

Her first instructions were simple enough, but he was much more invested in getting a reaction out of her. Purposefully, he dropped the tension in his wrench. She didn’t even hardly respond, just tilted her head at the sound of the pins dropping.

“Whoops!” she chirped. “Try again. Tension is your key.” She seemed quite proud of this little joke, but he remained stoic, even as her sparkling eyes begged him to laugh, and she cleared her throat. “You need to keep the pins up.”

Half a dozen more times, he made simple mistakes, trying to figure out how to exhaust her patience, but she remained as level-headed as always. Jacob watched her hands as she instructed him again, but his mind wandered. He wondered how she kept so cool. Perhaps she didn’t know he was toying with her. Was she really that impercipient?

In the distance, Big Ben bonged loudly, alerting them to the time. Y/N stood, peering up above the high-rises at the depleting daylight. Sighing, she reached for her matchbox and her lamp and illuminated the darkening space.

“I think it’s about time to wrap up for the evening,” she said as she shook her hand to extinguish the match. The candlelight danced on her cheekbones and chased the dying sun across her hair, beckoning his heart to follow, and it made an involuntary flutter in his chest. “Next time we’ll start on a simpler mechanism. I hope you have more finesse than your sister alluded to.”

Jacob resented that. He took up one of her hands and held her gaze squarely, mustering the look that colored every woman’s cheeks. “Well, miss, I hope you can’t break more than locks.”

She shot him a wink, but he was pleased to see a blush bloom up her ears. “You don’t keep any locks on you, darling. You’re open as a book.” She dropped the little leather notebook into his hands, one that had previously been stowed safely away, and he looked between it and her, startled. It looked as though her nimble fingers were capable than more than just lockpicking.

“Careful around here, Mister Frye,” she said, fixing him with one last sunbeam grin before she left, one brow quirked. “Never know what the grocers might be up to.”

this isnt camille related but you sound like you know so much about vintage jeans. can you maybe tell us some tips on shopping for them? i've been trying to for years now to find a vintage pair of levis jeans and i've never had any luck...

First thing, I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t found a pair that’s right for you. I know there’s one out there for you! So some tips/things I do:

1. Take a measuring tape with you. Vintage levi’s are always marked incorrectly/weirdly when it comes to measurements and they all run smaller Some of them will be marked as 32′ waist and 32′ inseam but will fit someone who usually wears a modern 27′ in denim sizing. By knowing your measurement and measuring the waist band, you save so much time from trying on a gazillion pair of jeans that are too big/small for you.

2. Don’t get stuck on 501s. Everyone always go on and on about 501s - ig models all own a pair, your fave celeb rocks them, fashion magazines don’t ever shut up about them. I get that they’re iconic and all that but they’re not right for everyone. It doesn’t flatter plus-size, thick thigh or pear shaped humans and most of them look garbage on short girls who have no curves by drowning their shape (i.e. me.) Hint: 505 look way better on most of us. Do some research on different models, read the description and see which ones flatter YOUR BODY most. Also light wash does not work for everyone.

4. If the jeans are sitting too snug on the waist when you first try it on or on your first wear, it’s a good thing. I have this pair of 660 and when I first got them, I was struggling to sit in them. After 3-4 wear (and no wash - you should put off washing your vintage jeans for as long as you can), it stretched and moulded perfectly to my waist/hips. If it’s too tight around the hips, then that’s a no-go.

5. Avoid buying heavily distressed jeans. This is just my personal take on it because I know that ripped jeans is trendy right now and some people love the look. I don’t think it’s worth dropping your cash on a pair that’s already got a massive hole in them when it’s only gonna continue to rip the more you wear them. Vintage jeans are usually pricey and if you want to keep the option of reselling open then rips are gonna devalue them.

6. Thrift stores mark up the price, try online shopping. If you’re familiar with your measurements then I highly recommend you buy from depop, ebay, etsy, etc. I’ve scored a pair of orange tab 10950 Levi’s on depop for $10 before. I only suggest you do this if you’ve had enough experience dealing with buying vintage jeans.

7. Shop in the male section. Levi’s were made for men and most vintage are men’s jeans. If you’re only looking in the women’s section then you’re likely missing out on a lot.

8. Go shopping alone. It seems like a fun idea to have one your girl friends come along on these thrifting trips but in reality, it’s actually a nightmare. Everyone shops at a different pace. Chances are your friend is gonna either want to stay way too long at that one store or want to leave way too soon.

9. That trick where you ‘wrap the waist band around your head and if it meets then it fits’ doesn’t really work. Or maybe it’s just me. I’ve tried this test before because I was too lazy to hit the changing room. When I got home and put the jeans on, I struggled to pull them up pass my thighs, or they’re way so snug it became painful, or they made me look like I gained 20 pounds.

There are lots of videos out there on Youtube as well as articles that can probably give you better tips than I can, but these are just my own personal ways of purchasing vintage denim and sourcing them. I hope that this was somewhat helpful to you lol

❤ ◞ she’s actually really into fashion but she’s literally a cross between dressing so eccentrically or horrendously, that’s what happens when you work at a thrift shop and on top of it get a 30% discount ⇢ she could have been a fashion ig personality but her ig is p much full of indie-esque film caps ⇢ “how does this one sound -- ‘they’ll never catch me ... i’m fucking innocent.’” ⇢ “how you think owen wilson looked hot in that movie, i’ll never understand.” ⇢ “it’s the nose.” ⇢ “jiwon -- it’s never the nose.”

❤ ◞ when you first meet her she seems like a ray of sunshine, always talking, suggesting things to do ( most so she can film and put it on her channel and seem like she’s doing something with her life ) ⇢ catch her off guard and watch her fall into misery.

❤ ◞ she’s a debbie downer when you get close to her and can get real emo when you start talking about issues ⇢ ie. family, love, future, dreams ( pretty much anything off the surface and deep ) ⇢ default answer, “bro, it’s not that deep.”

❤ ◞ she actually wanted to go to college but she has like zero dinero so that was out of the question ⇢ if she actually got to go she would have wanted to be in one of the art majors like film, art history, or something like music theory ⇢ but she likes hanging out at campuses bc Aesthetic and because it makes her feel like Someone, did i mention she’s a Fake

❤ ◞ in high school she was part of the dance club ⇢ she does dance covers in her spare time now and posts it on her not Popular youtube channel ⇢ high school fact: she was nicknamed ‘dimples’ because *surprise* she has very deep dimples

❤ ◞ she’s at the movies literally every weekend, whether it’s for some indie film, mainstream superhero movie or dramatic korean romcom ⇢ “you, again? don’t you have a life?” ⇢ “why do i need a life, the one’s in the movies are so much more interesting.”

❤ ◞ she can be found at the conveince store near her apartment late at night eating midnight snacks (her favorite these days due to the god-awful heat: ice pops) ⇢ have yet to decide on a district to put the girl in so please anyone who needs a roommate! ⇢ or if you’re in need of a neighbor, jiwon isn’t a bad one! ⇢ neighbor and roommate plots galore !!!

❤ ◞ in her spare time ( if she’s not vlogging, going to the movies, or sulking at convenience stores ), she’s volunteering at the animal shelters ⇢ is that friend who preaches ‘adopt, don’t shop!’ ⇢ is also that friend that stops at the front of a pet shop and makes happy faces at the pets
