The Rhine Falls (German: Rheinfall, singular) is the largest waterfall in Switzerland and Europe. #🦄 For the past 700 years or so, #Basel has been #famous for one #product – #Läckerli, a sort of hard #gingerbread that originally was only made at New Year. Now you can buy it anywhere in #Switzerland at any time, but a visit to the Läckerli #Huus in Basel is always worth it. The #biscuit is a mix of honey, nuts, candied fruit and spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. #🦄 #Heimgarten is located at the northern end of the #alps with no higher #mountain further to the north. This provides a spectecular #panorama to the north with all the #lakes of southern #Bavaria. On bright days even #Munich (about 70km away) is cleary visible. Additionally to a nice view to the north the summit is a perfect viewpoint for #Karwendel and #Wetterstein mountains as well as #Ammergau Alps. But this is still not enough. #🏰 The #Neuschwanstein #castle was built for only one person – the #King #Ludwig II. Neuschwanstein is so #immense though, that in some days it is visited by up to 6000 tourists. Ludiwg slept only #11 #nights in the castle. Ludwig was Richard Wagner’s patron, and many rooms of the castle were inspired by Wagner’s operas. Even so, Wagner never had a chance to visit the castle as he died before it completion.
