Torin Knit 3.5 First run in them (around 13 miles). They felt great. The midsole felt slightly squishier than the 3.0 The flex grooves felt natural and I felt like I had better traction on the corners. Living in Florida, when I hear the word Knit, I conger up feelings of hot, sweaty, itchy materials that will drive me mad in FL’s heat and humidity. That is SO NOT the case here. My run started in the high 70’s low 80’s with slightly muggy humidity. My feet didn’t feel any different to 90% of my other shoes in these conditions. Under Armour Horizon RTT Shoe Review

My trail running skills are beginner at best; however, moving to Colorado has put some major self-imposed pressure to begin running some of the gorgeous trails. So you can see why I was excited to try out Under Armour’s Horizon RTT trail running shoe.

Fit

Some customers have commented that you’ll need to go a 1/2 size up with this shoe. I’m a 7.5 regular shoe, 7.5 Hoka, and 8 Brooks. Based on these comments, I went for the 8 in these shoes, and they fit perfectly at this size.

The shoe felt sturdy and well-built, if not a little too stiff initially for my liking. However, I’m used to the ultra-cushion of my Hokas, so 2 pillows strapped to my feet would feel too stiff at this point. The shoes are light, but provide good support.

During the Run

I ran on an open-space trail that was challenging enough to test out these shoes, but easy enough for a beginner without the threat of propelling myself down a mountain. Thanks to Colorado weather, the trail was coating with a thick layer of ice and snow. While I love winter and the snow, I HATE running on it. Especially this close to my Ironman, I am ultra paranoid about falling or twisting anything. So the beginning of my run was at a snail’s pace, and I looked like I was playing the “don’t step in the lava” game. Very quickly into the run, I felt completely comfortable with these shoes on the ice and snow. Not once did I feel insecure about slipping, and I was surprised that I could get this kind of traction on a running shoe without having to use crampons.

Style

Much like the bird kingdom where the male birds tend to be more beautiful than the females, the style of this shoe is more attractive in Men’s than Women’s. This is subjective, of course, but I just love the men’s black and gray with a pop of color (especially the orange). I can remedy this by using bright laces on my all black/gray shoe, but it won’t make the UA logo bright orange as in the men’s shoe. With that being said, the overall design of both men’s and women’s is very appealing and manages to look both rugged and light at the same time.

Closing Thoughts

Overall I really like this shoe and see myself using them for not only trail running, but also casual hiking. They were marvelous on icy terrain, and I cannot wait to try them out when the trails are covered in snow. Especially for the price, this is a solid trail running shoe.

Women’s shoe style options are just okay

Felt a little stiff at times (again, I’m a "Hoka Head” so anything feels stiff)

What are those? @crossover_culture LP1 Copped them on Black Friday weekend- the only colorway with my size left in stock. There were a few other colorways I would have loved instead, but the aesthetics are secondary to the equipment specs. First thing you notice right away is the upper. A nice knitted upper with some interesting patterns. Flexible, breathable, and VERY padded. Right away upon first wear, I noticed how low to the ground they felt (a big difference since I was stepping out of LeBron XVI lows). Definitely a more guard-focused shoe, you get excellent court feel through the low riding foam. Traction wasn't squeaky, but had a solid bite to them. The floors tonight were super dusty, so I'll get a better review of them later on our cleaner courts. Herringbone traction through the majority of the rubber 👍👍 Ankle padding was nice- the construction of a high top, but freedom of movement as if it's a low. The cut behind the able allows mobility that most high cuts don't allow. Very interesting design with solid functionality. Definitely surprised me with how well it performed. For a smaller independent brand, I'm very impressed.
