It's telling that the thing that finally makes Indry reveal a degree of rage to Ame isn't Suvi showing up with blood on her face to dinner nor the various other insults from other witches during dinner; it's not Ame insinuating that with her departure another witch would have to be killed as well nor pointing out the key importance of her station, and it's unclear if it's even the hint that Ame was aware of the scarf. It's the mention of chores as part of apprenticeship. I think underpinning all of this is that the Witch of the World's Heart reminds everyone else, uncomfortably, that they assumed these roles without any particular authority with an ostensible goal to tend to their domains, and that this power comes with obligations towards service.
