Forest Bathing “What is forest bathing? This Japanese practice is a process of relaxation; known in Japan as shinrin yoku. The simple method of being calm and quiet amongst the trees, observing nature around you whilst breathing deeply can help both adults and children de-stress and boost health and wellbeing in a natural way.” - ForestryEngland.uk I love this tradition - the place I have always found peace is out in nature. The photo used in this graphic was taken in the Santa Fe National Forest not far from Cowles, New Mexico next to Jacks Creek Campground up in the Sange de Cristo Mountains. It is one of many great places to forest bathe near Santa Fe. After the graphic are photos from this trail including the one used in the quote graphic. #ForestBathing #ShirinYoku #森林浴 #CowlesNewMexico #JacksCreekCampground #SantaFeNationalForest #Forest #NewMexicoForests #NewMexico #LandOfEnchantment #Naturalist #PhotoByJeriRae https://www.instagram.com/p/CmpW9ZOPfr3/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Haven't I Given Enough? (not quite yet.)
Haven't I Given Enough? (not quite yet.) by shirinyoku
Hawks, (formerly known as Keigo Takami), has been with the Commission for 7 years. He's officially a fourteen-year-old. One day, he is called to the president's office. Expecting punishment, he goes up dreading the worst. Though, what she tells him is something he did not expect.
Or, Hawks infiltrates U.A. as a high school student, and learns that the way the Commission has been treating him is not in fact normal.

Both of Japan's official religions - Shinto and Buddhism - believe that the forest is the realm of the divine. In Shinto, the spirits are not separate from nature, they are in it. They are the trees, in the the rocks, in the breeze, the stream, the waterfall. These spirits are called kami. They can be everywhere in nature. And the places where gods live can become the places of worship themselves. It is not unusual in Japan to find people worshipping in the forest.

I'm always grateful and feel so blessed to get a chance to spend time outdoors!! It's essential to get some sun, fresh air and take in that zingy smell of phytoncide!! Phytoncide is the aroma emitted by trees and plants in the forest to protect themselves from harmful insects and from rotting. Dr. Qing Li, a professor at Nippon Medical School, discovered that frequent visits to forests for "forest bathing" can promote good health and happiness. He said that we suffer from nature deficit disorder, and exposure to forests to inhale phytoncides has several benefits. It can reduce stress levels and blood pressure, strengthen our immune and cardiovascular systems, boost energy, mood, creativity, concentration, decrease depression and anger, and even help us lose weight and live longer. Sadly we no longer have parks with enough trees in it to generate phytoncides we need. 😔 He recommends spending at least two hours in the forest once a week. Do go out and look for that green space. Feel the difference and find your peace. Have a great week ahead. 💚 #phytoncide #forestbath #naturedeficitdisorder #shirinyoku #stressreliever #healthylifestyle (at Antipolo, Rizal) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKuuXV3nGFC/?igshid=a7s8xc72fykn

Decided it was a day for hiking. Being cooped up in the house and even waking around the neighborhood has been getting to me pretty badly. I am an outdoors guy, I need woods and bare rock and water to make me feel relaxed and happy. So we took a quick hike over at #bigrunmetropark here in Columbus and got all that in. No ruck, no workout, just some outdoor walking time with the family! I needed it! 🍁 #outdoors #hiking #columbusmetroparks #forestbathing #shirinyoku #shirinyoku🌲🌱🌳🌿 (at Big Run Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGx5csgAvj9/?igshid=1f1vnxhfnorpt
