BUT calling ppl proshippers for liking it makes no sense at all?? YES they refer to each other as brothers in arms but so do jayvik? and no one bats an eye at them

I'm falling back into X-men: First Class stuff again thanks to the Deadpool x Wolverine movie and I had kind of forgotten how much I love the very specific dynamic of the Erik x Charles relationship where I watch Erik do some borderline supervillain stuff going "fuck yeah! Good for you!" and then watch Charles ream into Erik calling him out for said behaviour and/or the shit Erik has done to him personally going "fuck yeah! Good for you!"

Original X-men movie dynamics is much more the (normal) dynamic of wanting them to set aside their differences and find a way to progress their cause together. But First Class is all about the anger behind their actions being completely justified but also oh so very entertainingly messy.

I just want you to do some introspection, ask yourself, why the fuck do you think it is okay to police other people over a ship over something like "thematic parallels" they aren't actually brothers, adoptive or blood, hell, they didn't even know each other until they were adults (as far as I know, I could be wrong)

Caitlyn is supposed to be a parallel to Jinx, yet I don't see these people claiming Caitvi shippers to be shipping incest like y'all are

So much happened in those episodes that I'm only just now considering the implications of what happened in that flashback.

As somebody who ships both Zaundads and CaitVi it's intensely amusing to me that in s1 Vander und Silco were this strange, violent, political, mysterious motivations ship and CaitVi was the comparable "light in a dark world" young love (with plenty of humor and softness).

And in season 2 it's almosts the opposite, with like hitting each other, dictatorship, doing questionable things in the pursuit of one's goal, falling out over one person not supporting the goal aggressively enough, alcoholism and prison sex for CaitVi and Vander x Silco is the "this is my happy place where everything is good" ship.

They really did trade places.

(the thought of Amanda ripping off Zaundads for her ship amuses me intently [this is a joke, Zaundads was always a niche ship])

But seriously, are CaitVi the Vander x Silco of season 2?

Have a shared goal (killing Jinx)

Pursue it with questionable means (gasssing the city)

One turns on the other because of the harm the goal is doing to also involved people (Isha versus Felicia)

Person that turns away embraces family

Person that persists is head of a questionable power structure

Even they way Cait and Ambessa's arrival destroys the community where the family took refuge gives me vibes.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that apparently Vander x Silco is the couple that can do it all. But I would have been fine if everybody had stayed in their corner . (obviously there is a ton of differences, like Cait clearly having much more qualms and being pushed forth by Ambessa, while Silco was clearly in charge, even if he had people encourage him like Sevika or Singed. And of course Cait switches sides against the people who attack the refuge/cult)

Being mostly only part of the jayvik fandom (and partly caitvi) means I get to bask in their undeniable romantic relationship (ofc you can also see it as platonic, just don't insist that it's the only way to look at it) while others fight over how Silco and Vander's relationship is as brothers and they can't be shipped and whether Jinx and Ekko are straight or bi or whatever.
