Thinking of doing a rainbow shiny run in Pokemon sv for pride month! I'm transfer some herba mystica to make my life easier. And I might shiny hunt for a sprigatito to. Since it's very aromantic colored and I'm aromantic. Is it gonna take a while? Probably? But it'll be worth it.

People who play challenge runs of video games have my eternal and unquestioning respect; except pokemon shinylockers. You're not making the game harder, you're not opening up new fields of gameplay, you're literally just... spending precious IRL time in order to obtain slightly different color palettes, which you could hack in if it was just about those.

What's the appeal? Is it a zen thing? Does encountering and running from several thousand consecutive ratatta induce some kind of flow state?

here are my rules

if a pokemon faints, it is regarded as a career ending injury and retires to the pokepelago. i cannot use that pokemon for the rest of the playthrough

i can only catch the first encounter of each route/location i get. this is confirmed by the ‘met location’ of each pokemon. dupes clause is in effect, meaning i can reroll an encounter if i’ve already caught one of that evolution line

i must nickname every pokemon i catch

there are no level caps for this locke, but i’ll try not to overlevel my pokemon too much for the sake of difficulty

i can use items in battle

thought of an interesting shiny hunt to start that i don't think i've ever seen anyone else do, you know how after you beat the elite four in oras professor birch will let you have a starter from johto sinnoh and unova? i thought it'd be fun to hunt cyndaquil chimchar and tepig if the reset times don't take super long :o)
