This scene is extremely good at recontextualizing Kieran's entire deal because like. Yes, the two DLCs were a result of his lifelong resentment of being othered and losing the one thing he banked his entire mental wellbeing at bubbling over and exploding.
But he's also Just Like That. With absolutely no evidence his first thought is that he will be the next one. The moment you shake him out of it he Figures It Out immediately, but The First Thought is that. King of pessimistically overthinking and jumping to conclusions.

Happy to provide! If it helps it devastates me too
I just had an interesting thought sparked by the open-ended nature of Ingo being in Hisui... Isn't there like, this whole "split timeline" theory or whatever people have when trying to connect the game canon? So here's a fun little thought exercise...
What if the Ingo we saw in Hisui doesn't belong to that Hisui's future?
Essentially - what if he did go back forward with the protagonist, presumably to their time in this same timeline - only Subway Master Ingo was never missing there at all, and now there's two Ingos, one very confused and displaced because this is his original time, but also it's not his time or place at all?
Alternatively - what if he stayed the rest of his days in Hisui, and records were left of him - and the timeline's Ingo, still in modern day Unova, found out about his doppelganger living the remainder of his life in the past?
In either scenario, the timeline's Ingo being left with this existential fear of being ripped from his life at any given moment, just waiting for a future not meant for this version of him - wondering when it'll happen, where he'll end up, and never being sure why it doesn't happen until it's clearly well past the time he supposedly gets sent back - and then grappling with equal parts relief at getting to keep his life, and the feelings that come with knowing you watched another version of you - and by extension, his friends and loved ones - go through something no one should have had to.
On the flip side, the Ingo from another timeline, the one who lands in Hisui, never fully realizing the extent of his predicament, never being able to articulate why some things sit right and some things don't with what he experiences vs what he knew from his time, whether he "returns" to the modern day or not. Even if he does get to go "home", never being able to actually go Home, and from there knowing that the life he's left behind is truly left behind no matter what.
Meanwhile, the Emmet from the other timeline never getting even a scrap of closure. Never getting his Ingo back. Never seeing any remnants of him in the timeline's history. His Ingo just seemingly cut right out of the very fabric of existence without a trace. No death to mourn, no body to find, no records or evidence of any sort, because there's none to find.
I've enjoyed the submas angst people have explored with Ingo's appearance in Legends: Arceus, so I thought I'd arrive a few years late to add another, if very wacked out, alternative interpretation to the question: Does Ingo ever get to return to Modern day Unova or does he stay in Hisui? - and turning it into: Even if he did, who says it's the Unova he's from?
