The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses
Komura starts his school year with a new seat neighbour in homeroom—the bespectacled Mie. Before long, he’s nursing a raging crush on his quirky classmate who’s always forgetting her glasses! While this might be ideal for Komura to get to know Mie better, will his poor heart give out from the daily strain of being up close and personal with the girl he likes?!

comparison: this is festa from uma musume. one of her most recent roles
youtube
and this is Akari
youtube
i'll never getting over the fact that most of Shimoji Shino's characters post-Akari are using her deeper range (examples: Nakayama Festa from Uma Musume, the cream soda lover from Isekai Shokudou and an Azur Lane character) that somehow her voice as Akari became deeper on newer Aikatsu content

What We Know About Mont
(last updated 8/3/24!)
Kotone Montagne, codename Mont, is a previously famous figure skater who suffered a major injury. Her Arcana is listed in the files as Glory, which seems to come from angel decks. She joins the team as a "Phantom Idol", or cognitive teammate.
Her files are named with the codenames "Frost" or rarely "Snow" instead of her canon codename Mont. The exact significance of this, if any, is unknown.
Her Japanese voice actress is Shino Shimoji.
Kotone has not appeared in the main story, but she does feature prominently in Tomoko Noge's Confidant, as they bond over being athletes who suffered injuries that prevented them from participating in their sport. She and Tomoko spend a lot of time bonding, though there's a bit of distance between them for a while, as Tomoko hesitates to ask her about the progress of her physical rehabilitation. However, Kotone eventually reveals that she already completed rehabilitation and was able to return to the rink, but she's felt too overwhelmed by outside pressure to actually ice skate again.
An official post has indicated Kotone will be a Confidant in the future, and a romance option for Wonder.
While Kotone has only appeared in Tomoko's Confidant so far, aspects of her personality are apparent. She maintains a somewhat closed-off, though superficially friendly, demeanor, and comes across as a mature person who can be social but keeps interactions to a minimum. However, she's touched by Tomoko's actions towards her, continuously going out of her way to help Kotone. This eventually leads to a friendship, although Kotone keeps a bit of a wall up as she can't admit to Tomoko the real reason why she hasn't gone back to figure skating.
While she can seem friendly but just a bit distant, she's revealed to have many typical interests that Tomoko can bond with her over, and enjoys sillier things like trying a special signature pasta dish at a restaurant with Tomoko and Wonder. She also lightly panics after having a fight with her manager, leading to her seeking out a flower shop that can give her a bouquet with a ridiculously large amount of her manager's favorite flowers within a single day. Kotone seems mature and somewhat aloof, and she is those things, but she also cares more than tends to be obvious, and has the self-awareness to realize quickly if she was the one in the wrong after an argument.
Kotone gives the impression of someone who bottles their emotions up until they overflow. She breaks down into tears outside Shibuya station when she finally admits to Tomoko that she finished physical rehab a while ago, but has a mental block preventing her from skating like she used to, even crouching down to hug her knees to her chest (possibly so she wouldn't have to face Tomoko and Wonder when she admitted it). She cites the reason for this mental block as hateful comments online about her, which she was previously able to ignore, but hit harder now; her injury seems to have made her feel more vulnerable, or perhaps more fearful of messing up again.
An official description of her also mentioned she's French-Japanese, has been figure skating since she was a child, and is a perfectionist.
Mont's Persona Terpsichore (based on the Greek muse of dance and chorus) is categorized as an Ice type, and resists Ice while being weak to Psychokinesis.
Terpsichore is a Resist Persona, meaning she’s good at targeting single enemies, and her trait gives her "ice crystals" whenever a teammate attacks, which let her inflict a followup attack at the end of her own turn. She has three ice attack skills: the first hits all enemies with a chance to cause freeze, the second hits one enemy and gives her four ice crystals, and the third hits one enemy, doing more damage the lower their health is, and doing extra damage if Mont has ten ice crystals. Her passive skills increase her chance of inflicting freeze, and give her three ice crystals when an enemy is defeated.
In combat, her melee weapon is a sabre, while her ranged weapon is a bolt action rifle. Her Highlight is shown from 2:40 - 2:53 in this video, and it hits one enemy with an ice attack that does more damage the lower the enemy's health is.
Her recommended card sets are 1) 4 of Cups (Luxury) + Knight of Swords (Focus), 2) 4 of Coins (Power) + Page of Coins (Growth).
The game recommends teaming her up with 1) Closer and Cattle, 2) Leon.

The soundtrack of the Hakumei & Mikochi anime
Today i will take some time to go over the soundtrack for the Hakumei & Mikochi anime. I'm still in the middle of the rewatch, so I'll share my thoughts on other aspects of the anime later.
The main OST is done by Evan Call, whose other notable works include Violet Evergarden and Frieren: Beyond Journey's End and it's a real standout in this anime!
It has cozy vibes in general, with a surprising amount of variety! We get some bluesy songs, more orchestral flute pieces, even a song that sounds like marching music. The breadth of musical styles this soundtrack takes on is honestly stunning.
If i had to pick something the soundtrack reminds me of, I'd say Pikmin and Yuru Camp. It can be soothing and calm in one scene, then energetic and exciting in the next; but it always retains a "homely" energy.
It has a pastoral quality to it, with a lot of harmonica, gentle guitars and the occasional piano. Come to think of it, I've heard a bunch of different instruments and the composers still maintains a sort of "palette". No single instrument seems out of place, yet there is something new to every song!
I remember being impressed by how fun the music is on my first watch, but now, rewatching it years later, it dawns on me how much of a feat this soundtrack truly is. I'm very glad Evan Call has found more acclaim and work after Hakumei & Mikochi, continuing with his impressive compositions; but it's very sad that this soundtrack continues to be overlooked.
Even though he has a spotify presence, the OST for Hakumei & Mikochi isn't there. Luckily somebody has uploaded it in it's entirety to YouTube. I really encourage you to have a listen!
Now, onto the Opening and Ending!
The opening features a song called "urar" by Chima. It has an almost post-rock soundscape (something about the sound of the guitars) and the vocals are so very beautiful.
Sadly, I can't find a youtube video of the actual opening of the show. It has these very minimalist high-saturation photos of nature with the credits looking a bit like chalk drawings.
It also features the silhouettes of some of the characters in these natural environments. In general, the whole opening has more melancholic vibe compared to the rest of the show and people expecting big sakuga will be disappointed. But it is quite beautiful and serves as a good intro for each episode.
Now for the ending!
The ending of each episode is set to the song "Harvest Moon Night", which is sung by the voice actors for Conju (Aoi Yuuki) and Mikochi (Shino Shimoji). Canonically it is the song they both sing together at the Harvest festival, which is a great touch.
The song is a favorite of mine and i love it's jaunty, upbeat feel. I can't explain why, but parts of the soundtrack and this song have a "country-like" quality to them. They remind me a lot of the endings to Konosuba.
All in all, the soundtrack is an aspect of the anime even the few fans don't talk about enough and I think it is a large part of what gives the anime its feel and quality, making the OST as well as the anime a true hidden gem!
The visuals of the ending are these adorable monochromatic silhouettes of the characters from the episode, with a the original "Walking Underfoot" segments next to them; a great way to show off the art of the anime and add some flavor.

Notes/comments (optional):
Shibuki Ran and Oozora Akari supremacy!!!
They have good amazing songs, in my opinion.
The improvement of the CGI was astounding. <3
Still can't forget these moments:
Soleil's performances of Diamond Happy, especially the first one! Their debut had me in tears, the rest gave me chills.
Renewed Tristar with Yurika-sama. IT'S NOT THAT I'M SAYING THAT MY QUEEN RAN IS INFERIOR TO YURIKA. It's just that I think Ran fits in Soleil better because she should be with her besties, and Yurika's aura fits Tristar better.
Sumire's failed Special Appeal in the Starlight Queen Cup. (She's still a queen though. 💅)
Akari's winning performance in the Starlight Queen Cup! The chills I had watching her perform. From the clumsy girl who made mistakes in her audition to this ✨️star✨️... (ToT)
Will I rewatch? Probably not because it's rather long. But I might go back to watch some episodes. But there's no doubt that I would watch the performances every now and then!
