rolling her eyes, which was far from an uncommon occurrence when she was graced with odette's presence - shiloh blew a stray strand of hair from her face. "did it ever occur to you that it's not about what you deserve? maybe some people already have enough." she said pointedly. it wasn't lost on her, the stark differences in their upbringing and even the lives they lived now. observance was a quiet strength of hers, something she gave thanks for, but she was also really glad she didn't have an inferiority complex. if anything, she was overconfident and shameless. that might bring its own set of consequences, but she preferred to fight those battles.
it was probably that same shamelessness that had her lips openly quirking up into a smile the second she saw odette's scowl. she wouldn't be blamed for her reflexes, even if she made no effort to hide them. it wasn't her fault getting expressions like that from the blonde made her feel like she was doing something right. shiloh almost had to bite her tongue to keep herself from arguing, purely for arguments sake - maybe she did think odette was full of air; maybe some stereotypes held a certain element of truth at their core. but her curiosity won out over the need to fight odette at every turn. this time. "oh yeah, my heart really goes out to you poor blondes and your unfair representation in the media." the words were dripping with sarcasm, the hand that reached out to comfortingly pat odette's arm possibly even more so.
shiloh couldn't help the way her eyebrows rose, showing her surprise. the look shifted to almost incredulous, because was odette implying that she could handle something shiloh couldn't? did she really think she was tougher than her? because that had to come with some audacity. there was an unspoken challenge, and she was rising to it. the day she backed down was the day she died. however, that didn't mean she wasn't going to give herself a moment under the guise of getting odette the drink she oh so nicely asked for. the only issue that brought was it meant moving and breaking the eye contact between them that was veering on intense, and being the one to break it could be counted as a victory for the blonde. shiloh really, really didn't like letting that happen in any capacity, but she still forced herself to slowly turn and do exactly that.
"i can handle anything you can." she had to make that clear in case it wasn't already. "have you ever considered that what you see is what you get? because that's what i do with you." odette had shown her the parts of her she wanted shiloh to see, and she couldn't honestly say she'd ever thought of digging deeper than that. "why are you so curious about me?" she slid the girl's drink in front of her, settling once more against the counter top between them. "why now?" @thursdaygrl
