Well I managed to snag the last Toffee doll I especially wanted, Spell, for an amazing price from a Japanese Mercari seller. She was a Halloween special edition in 2009, released at the same time as Pumpkin, and I really felt like she belongs with Pumpkin and Hazel. I'm happy the cat girl coven will soon be complete ^_^

I think this will be one of my last new dolls for awhile. I have one active bid each on ebay and shopgoodwill--the latter of which I have no expectation of winning--and once those are resolved I'm going to make my best effort to return to doll purchasing hiatus for the rest of the year. I'll still be posting about my extant collection, making clothing for them, etc. I'm just feeling extremely burnt out on buying dolls and finding that a lot of them don't measure up to my expectations. Simply put, I'm tired of being disappointed by my hobby (yes I'm looking at you, Shibajuku <_< And Rainbow High too, for that matter.). Aside from the retail fatigue, I've also been reflecting on the quantity of beautiful--in some cases quite rare--dolls that are sitting neglected in my basement. It's time I renewed my efforts to appreciate what I already have.

All that said, I do still have a couple of things in transit (that last Furga + Teen Trends Goodwill lot, one more Adora Belle) and a few new arrivals I haven't shared yet, so hopefully things will stay interesting around here XD And once I've had a chance to regroup sometime in the next few weeks I'll start introducing all my 16" fashion dolls, and a TON of Pullips (lol Pullip clan are long overdue for a census, I literally do not know how many I have.....)

I got this shibajuku head and matching body from @firespirited a while back and finally took time to get the eyes out and wipe her faceup.

The body came with a top, so I tried to remain in the color scheme when I ordered the wig (it's good enough as a starting point haha)

I think she will have a head dress with little ears, to match the pawprints on the top. And her accessories will be neon yellow to match the hair while her clothes will remain in the blue/pink scheme.

I don't have a very defined idea of the final look, especially the face up, but it's progress. I will be on the lookout for pink and blue fabrics that match her top, so i can make her a skirt or pantaloons.

I like the idea of pantaloons with vertical stripes, or a pink/blue/black tartan but i doubt I will find the exact fabric.

*Today’s drawers Destash: partially finished projects, baldies, hard heads and bratz/monster high clothes with annoying textures or shapes. Incomplete picture, detailed photos and descriptions coming up later - available cheap if you are in the EU and want the whole lot. Will be adding more heads and hair.

The idea being a complete clean out of non faves and anything hard on the shoulders or hard to grip. I am on hiatus for rehabilitation and I need to start acting like it. This was pass 1, the easier to part with stuff. As my shoulder pain gets worse this evening, I’ll find it easier to do pass 2: do I really need duplicate monsters?

*Rainbow high crew and desk dolls have been packed away while I get my desk setup sorted out. Bubbles is my most ramshackle RH custom but I’m very fond of her. Mini-me Kassandra pale is at the front of the barbie shelf with Lea mermaid and Elle. Gayle the shibajuku 1/4th has moved to the Rainbow Surprise shelf where she’s flipping me off through the glass 🖤.

*Sparkle Eyes eyes: 5 mm rounds on an anchor with a 2.5 mm crystal (size 7) attached with what looks like shoe glue at the back of the eye socket. I replaced mine with blue sandstone (glass) beads.

*To do: pick out new and custom full dolls for the Amnesty International sale from destash and sales drawer.

I appreciate all the supportive comments about my mask making requests yesterday. I am only making singles for individuals and I have good reasons to go through with it.

Yesterday I made two, one cotton knit and one cotton woven. Effectiveness is under scrutiny in the US but it's becoming apparent that homemade can flatten the curve, mainly it seems by reducing spray from people who are sick and possibly don't know it. Seems to me that anything is better than nothing.

With this guide I made this mask:

And with this guide I made this mask, which I greatly prefer. I went by the video tutorial which includes sewing a pocket along the nose to hold wire, to shape it to your face. And the entire thing is a pocket in case you find filter media to put in. I stole the cord off an old hoodie cause I don't have extra shoelaces. For wire I braided three from christmas light packaging.

I hate this picture because you can tell by my eyes how anxious I am. Like a horse.

I also made a yellow tee shirt for Poochie the night before. It's from a vintage babie sleeper and is so very slightly fuzzy.

I will finish her clothes, but I'm also already brainstorming another hybrid Shibajuku head / Xinyi body. I have two more heads from Tiffy (♥️♥️♥️) to play with. I have pretty solidly decided on some body mods, and a wig. But not the face! Which seems backwards but is pretty standard operation for me. 😂 If you want to throw out some ideas please do.

Can I buy a specific lot off you? I'm particularly looking for barbie clothes, bratz shoes and/or clothes and playline dolls that aren't barbie. Like licca or a kuhrn, things like moxie girls or superhero girls, ladeedas, lols, shibajuku girls etc. Do u have anything like this you have spares of? Feel free to ignore me as this is a v general request but if you sold any of that stuff id hop right on it

I'm trying to make me a set of my own Alice in Wonderland dolls but some will be daughter of or son of just because I can.The first I got done is Humpty Dumpty and Rosy daughter of the White Rabbit back in the summer but just now got the courage to start showing them.

The White Rabbit was made with the head of littlest pet shop rabbit with yarn for hair, body of a shibajuku girl and pipe cleaners for her arms.

Humpty Dumpty I stated following a tut for making the head of a BJD as his body and I made the size 10mm resin eyes.His arms and legs are pipe cleaners and feet are clay.

I also made their clothes, did both of their face ups, the rabbit's stand and Humpty wall/stand.

so just as I was prepping this girl for a repaint I realize I’ve never posted anything about her, probably bc I don’t have a lot of strong feelings about the KuuKuu Harujuku dolls

they just didn’t grab me and I’m not a gwen fan, so they’re just...boring. Dolls like this have become so common they don’t stand out anymore. She’s a cutie pop with less stuff to mix and match and more articulation, a La De Da but with less fun clothes, and while I like her more than say, a shibajuku doll, they’re still not as eye catching. If these had come out in 2010 they’d have been a lot more successful, but now? Everyone’s just tired of these half baked attempts (often with somewhat racist undertones) to cash in on Japanese styles 

honestly I might’ve passed on them entirely if Hexian of youtube’s repaint of one into Betty Boop hadn’t impressed me so much. I’m really debating making my own Betty, though I do wanna play around with an original look as well

admittedly, I’d hoped to play around with a different one than just a second Love, but she was the only one I could find besides G and I didn’t want a blonde. At least it’ll be interesting to see how different they end up.

Finally posting pictures of my doll show/ToysRUs haul from two weeks ago.  

The best part of the doll show was spending time with my friend Kat, the dolls were just OK.  I was hoping to find a Fashion Royalty doll, but no.  

From the doll show:

Added a few Monster High to my collection that I had incomplete or not at all.  They were dusty, but only $5.  I missed Fashion Cleo, so I couldn’t pass her by in box for $10.  I bought Gwen Stefani for her Alice dress, Frankie is already wearing it.  A few loose Barbie clothes and socks, a Barbie Basics black dress and shoes.  I also got some shoes and tights for the Tonner Sydney Chase doll that I found at Value Village last week.  I took her with me to the show.

Not satisfied with my doll show purchases, Kat and I visited TRU and I found the Shibajuku doll and fashions!  Yay!  The kitty socks and leather jacket are the pieces I really wanted.  The doll is less appealing to me.  I also got another Teddy Bear Flair Fashionista.

Thank you again Kat for getting me the Hello Kitty and other dresses, and especially for sharing a wonderful doll day!!!
