#raffi musiker #star trek picard #rambles #i say this so affectionately but raffi is 100% that person who takes over in escape rooms purely because she's SO excited #to be solving a puzzle #the others have all resigned themselves to their own roles which include:#rios always breaking something in the room because he's been leaning weirdly on it #elnor taking the clues too literally but trying to help raffi anyway #after raffi soji is the most excited by escape rooms + on more than one occasion has actually #provided raffi with a solution to an integral clue #agnes attempts to get into the fun of it all but it turns out escape rooms actually make her very claustrophobic #but she refuses to disclose that info to the rest of the group #seven?? well. seven's simply too busy enjoying watching raffi in problem-solving-mode in a non life threatening situation #to be actively participating #BUT once and only once got extremely immersed + actually solved a lot more of the room than raffi #both frustrating and impressing raffi for a good 2 days afterwards #the writers may have forgotten this family but i will not :-)

#shadows of fear #single play #roger marshall #1970 #classic tv #thames #kim mills #michael craig #gwen watford #ray smith #mark mcmanus #malcolm kaye #charles leno #having come to something of a premature pause in my New Scotland Yard watch (the first ep of series 3 isn't on the YT playlist I've been #using and is proving quite tricky to get ahold of) i thought I'd revisit this brief lived anthology series for the creepy season. i first #watched this about 10 years ago and my memories of it are scant to say the least‚ so it seemed like good viewing for the season #the production history of SoF is lost in the mists of time (unless someone out there wishes to enlighten me?); this first episode was shown #in June of 1970‚ but the rest didn't follow until January of the following year; probably this acted as a sort of pilot to gauge viewer #reactions to another vaguely horrorish anthology series (the previous decade had been ripe with them‚ tho we rarely see their like today)#and then there's the odd case of the final ep‚ shown almost 2 years after the series ended and running to half the length (and generally #feeling like an entirely different format) but I'll come to that when (and if) i get to the episode itself. this debut ep is... well it's #fine. i was excited to see Marshall's name in the opening credits‚ one of the most dependable of old tv writers and I'd quite forgotten he #contributed to this show. but the issue here is simply one of length. the plot is solid‚ a suitably grotty little tale of a family man's #mounting obsession with the burglars who broke into his home. it would make a good ep of Tales of Unease (shortly to begin on Thames'#sister broadcaster LWT) or a few years later as an episode of Tales of the Unexpected; both being 25 minute shows. but this clocks in at #close to 50 mins and there isn't really enough to it to sustain that longer running time‚ leaving it feeling a little stretched thin and #flimsy. a shame‚ because Craig and Watford are putting in excellent performances as the middle class couple whose reactions to the burglary #slowly shift as time passes (he goes from prosaic acceptance to fixated malice‚ she from shocked indignation to making peace with it all)#no big surprises in where the play is headed or how it plays out‚ but that's often the case with these things; it's often just as much #about the horrible foreknowledge of what must come than some shocking twist‚ and this plays it about right. it's just too long is all.

the reason the kaname doc is taking forever is 1) i don't know if i want the story to be lush and meandering or fast and punchy and 1) i don't know if kaname is an unstoppable force or immovable object

#when i first came up with her she was 100% unstoppable force #but now she's more immovable object #definitely not coinciding with my own declining mental health ofc not #is she Angry angry or Sad angry who knows #trying to strike some kind of balance #writing an angry character particularly their dialogue without making it sound heavy handed is SO HARD #and also i know what happens later on there's many scenes im so excited to write Later On but the beginning gives me such a headache #does it start when she's already friends with nana or does it start with them meeting. who knows #and then the development of their friendship does that happen over a long period of time or #i swear if i nail the beginning the rest will come out soooo much easier #it's been evading me for like a year now lmao #ive written many first meetings but none of them has Clicked for me. i need a good inciting incident #i need to watch or read something set in a small town (the most decrepit hovel of a small town) for inspo

Ahed is a 33 year old father of three young girls with his wife Maisoon. Getting Ahed the funds to evacuate his family is very urgent because they have three children under the age of ten with them, who currently don’t have access to food, clean water, or medical treatment they need. They’re at risk of bombs, infectious illnesses, and starvation every day they remain in Gaza. every hour matters

Ahed’s daughters are the light of his life and his motivation to keep going, and he’s campaigning on here every day to keep them safe. In Ahed’s words, his daughter Fatima (9) is “the closest to my heart, and my little one.”, Iman (6) “The friendly, kind, and loving child who is loved by everyone”, and little Nour, only one year old: “Who did not live her life like other children, as she was born two months before the war”.

Imagine that you’ve just had a baby girl, and you look at her with so much love and imagine with excitement what a bright future she’ll have and how she’ll play with her siblings. And only two months later, your whole life is turned upside down, and you have to wonder every day how you’ll feed her and keep her safe.

This is what happened to Ahed and his wife when they should’ve been at their happiest with a newborn daughter, everything turned into a nightmare. Their apartment was destroyed in a bombing, they were displaced multiple times, and suddenly they were raising their beautiful daughters in a war zone.

Every hour in Gaza is dangerous. Please help get Ahed, Maisoon and their children to safety as soon as possible 🙏🏼 Every donation will bring them closer to a future where Fatima, Iman, and Nour can play together and go to school and rest and recover from what they’ve been through.

Please give Ahed and Maisoon peace where they don’t have to watch their children suffer from illness and malnutrition, the worst thing for a parent to experience.

#help we've been drowning in blur for the past week we can't keep anyone in front we need something to Force someone into front-#except the people who usually come to front when we do that NEED A BREAK 😭 PERCY PLEASE JUST REST 😭#they still can't let go of host duties it's been over a year now since they decided they were retiring 😭 STAY RETIRED #and paradox owen specifically is exhausted and falling apart from. watching over Percy up until they retired #both of them were so incredibly stressed out by host duties for so long they really just need a long break #and we're all trying to work to give them that they need it badly #but uh. none of us know the system quite as well and know how it functions #percy was so concerned over potentially causing another host to get burnt out from being host too long #that they never bothered to teach anyone else how to do it #they're too protective they don't want everyone else to get stressed too #unfortunately that has now led to. not enough people knowing how host stuff works #we wanted to let go of having a host but forgot that meant we have to teach Everyone how to do that stuff #if everyone's in charge everyone has to also be able to have admin powers not just the hosts and gatekeepers #Voidworks and helios are kind of getting there and Kacey was also for a while but we haven't. seen Kacey in weeks #which sucks coz the last time Kacey fronted she was so excited to watch pirate anime and then instantly dipped out of front #so she never got to watch her pirate show #we've been putting off watching the show bc we want her to at least be in cocon

#the klock keeps ticking #cant remember shit about the show like the story arcs and shit #cuz i watched this show when i was like 16 and had trouble paying attention to anything at all #but decided i was gonna watch a few episodes for shits and i watched the apprentice episodes #hnnnghh it fucking ruled this show is awesome #like i truly cannot remember anything about slade like what his deal was what his motives are but god hes so good in this episode #hes creepy as fuck and like its just really satisfying how competent he is for a kids show villain #like he planted the evil torture devices in the gangs blood and he doesnt hesitate at all to push that button #i was expecting it to be like robin simply never fucked up bad enough to trigger the torture shit #or maybe like its revealed that it was all a lie to mess with him #but nah straight up robin hesitates to fucking shoot his friends and slade just instantly pushes the button and makes robin watch #AND THEN BLAMES HIM SAYING HOW THIS ALL HAPPENED CUZ HE DIDNT OBEY #and then the fucking part where slade is like ‘i was monitoring your endorphin levels i could tell you got excited when you stole’#DUUUUUDE #thats everything to me #and i like how the episode ends its very nice but initially i thought the blood torture devices were like bombs and that pushing the button #would mean instant death for the gang and like. okay imagine what i was cooking here #a controller for that would obviously have some sorta fail safe measure where if its destroyed the bombs go off so like you cant destroy it #and lets just say they didnt have a plot convenient way to remove the torture devices from the blood cuz that sounds kinda impossible tbh #what if like. the conclusion was robin obtains the controller so that he can take away slades power and leave him #but now hes just got the controller and he has this constant anxiety like what if he doesnt watch it and it goes off #what if the controller gets stolen or worse like. robin is in this position where he holds his friends lives in his hands #just like slade did. an evil reminder that he really is no different from slade what if he cant stop himself from pushing the button?#the episode ends with everything back to normal but then we see robin alone unsure with the controller locked away #and its just this looming presence for like the rest of the show or at least until slade is defeated and like robin has severe anxiety #over it he has nightmares of himself pushing the button he constantly double checks to make sure the controller is still there untouched #IMAGINE IMAGINE GUYS godddd i like need this fic now #sorry i got so caught up gushing about robin and this episode that i didnt even mention starfire aldkks i thinks shes adorable and autistic #and i would do anything for her and she and Robin are so cute i love them so much
