Baby Dimension au
inspired by this
Baby dimension au
One of the many things that had always bothered Shen Yuan about Proud Immortal Demon Way was the way that Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky treated Luo Binghe’s children.
By the time that Luo Binghe was into his centuries long reign and the story completed, Luo Binghe had dozens of children. Some were named, and others were only known by the fact that their mother had to go into seclusion in the background of a harem drama. The exact number of his kids were unknown, and Luo Binghe showed little to no interest in them beyond their continued survival.
To ensure his children’s survival, Luo Binghe used Xin Mo to create a pocket dimension of sorts. Only his most trusted servants would be selected with the task of living permanently in these hidden realms to raise his children. Each child had their own separate pocket realm and caretaker, with children born of the same mother being grouped together.
Some of the more filial mothers spent time with their children, and Shen Yuan quietly suspects that a number of the ditched Harem members chose to live with their children instead of in the palace full of snakes.
The reason the fan dubbed ‘baby dimension’ came into existence was because of Luo Binghe’s first children.
Luo Binghe’s foray into fatherhood began with his first two children, Luo Meiying and Luo Fang.
When Luo Binghe lived on Qing Jing Peak, he had made a promise with Ning Yingying that when he married her, they would have a beautiful child together. Once the three realms had been unified, revenge had been taken, and the harem had been settled; Airplane introduced that retconned promise. Ning Yingying asked if they could finally have a baby together and Luo Binghe agreed.
Of course, this sent Sha Hualing into a jealous fit. She acted out and terrorized the other harem members until Luo Binghe agreed to give her a child as well. To prevent Sha Hualing from escalating and trying to do anything to make Ning Yingying miscarry, Luo Binghe agreed to impregnate her as well.
Naturally this led to a threesome sex maraton between Ning Yingying, Sha Hualing, and Luo Binghe. Luo Binghe gathered a fertility lotus plant for the two of them, and they locked themselves away in Luo Binghe’s chambers for 3 days. The two girls spent the whole time fighting each other and vying for Luo Binghe’s attention as well as more turne with the Heavenly Pillar.
It ended with both of the wives undeniably pregnant.
Fast Forward some harem antics where some wives tried to sabotage the pregnancies, and a lot of kinky pregnancy related sex, the two babies were born. Ning Yingying’s daughter, Luo Meiying, and Sha Hualing’s son, Luo Fang. Luo Binghe was there for the births of his children and he seemed genuinely pleased about it. Sha Hualing and Ning Yingying were obviously the most favored wives for a time, as Luo Binghe exclusively dual cultivated with either of them and spent a lot of time with his children.
Then the readers got bored of this domestic arc.
Luo Binghe’s children were faced by constant threats, targeted by the harem and his enemies alike. The dangers were so numerous that Sha Hualing herself wanted to go into seclusion with her child, just so that her son would survive. Of course, she was more motivated by the fact she didn’t want to lose the leverage that the child gave her after all of the effort she spent bringing it into the world, but still. It was a problem.
The solution?
Creating a series of Hidden Realms using Xin Mo.
Since the space was only accessible through Xin Mo, nobody could threaten the safety of his children any longer. He allowed his wives to choose their most loyal servant to entrust the task of raising their children. After setting them up with all they would need, and telling the mothers they could ask any time for visits, he left the children to be raised in the Hidden Realms, with the expectation they could leave once they reach adulthood.
After that, his children were promptly forgotten and only mentioned in passing.
Ning Yingying ended up having another child later on, and that one joined his older sister in the Baby Dimension after being weaned.
From there, pregnancies and children were only mentioned in passing. There were no updates as to what goes on in the Baby Dimensions, and Luo Binghe’s children became yet another forgotten plot line.
Any children he had were forgotten in favor of an ever expanding harem of women who were wedded, bedded, and forgotten.
The whole thing bothered Shen Yuan immensely, being a common topic that he brought up in his vicious reviews of each chapter. Yes, Luo Binghe was a blackened stallion protagonist, but it didn’t make sense for his character to simply have a bunch of children that he forgot existed in favor of getting his dick wet. Luo Binghe seemed to genuinely love his children during the time before he sent them away, and it was the closest thing to happiness that he displayed since the beginning of the story with his adoptive mother.
None of the other fans cared about it, so Luo Binghe’s unknown number of children were thoroughly forgotten. Even the end of the story didn’t address the children whatsoever! Not even a mention of Luo Binghe having an heir, let alone multiple.
Shen Yuan had never forgotten about it, but it did get tucked away in some far off corner of his mind after he transmigrated.
Now, he lived as Shen Qingqiu, and he was happily married to his own version of Luo Binghe.
The reason all of his prior frustrations came racing back to him is because his husband asked if they could have children. The two of them had been married for 15 years now, and a lot of the problems from earlier in their relationship had been worked on. Luo Binghe was no longer as intensely jealous because of his abandonment issues to the point that having children would be upsetting to him.
They were in a good place to start discussing things.
Shen Qingqiu had stepped down as Peak Lord with the rest of the Qing generation in favor of their successors, and instead moved full time to the Demon Realm. He had long since revealed his true identity as a transmigrator to his Husband, so Shen Yuan adopted his old name once he left the Human Realm.
Their rule was secure, they had been married for years, and their relationship was stable. It seemed like the perfect time to add to the family.
There did exist flowers and relics that could allow men to get pregnant, however, once Luo Binghe brought up the topic, Shen Yuan’s mind instantly went to the abandoned children of Luo Bingge.
Shen Yuan knew that his Binghe would be a wonderful father, one that would never abandon his children. Shen Yuan never really got over the fact that all those children had been made and discarded, out of sight and out of mind.
So, he made a deal with Binghe.
They would have one biological child together, but after that, any additional children would be ones that they obtained from Binghe’s counterpart. Binghe initially protested, wanting nothing to do with that imposter, but Shen Yuan laid out the way all of those children had been abandoned and how it had bothered him for years.
It took some arguing and tears, but eventually an agreement was made.
Luo Binghe bore pregnancy with grace and sneakily used his blood parasites to ensure that egg split, resulting in twins. Luo Binghe was ecstatic with pregnancy, having fought to be the one that carries the child. Shen Yuan thought that as the Emperor, Luo Binghe should be the one to get him pregnant, but Luo Binghe said he’d only agree to snatching the imposter’s children if he gets to give birth to Shizun’s babies.
Shen Yuan gave in to prevent having a Qi deviation over the sheer nonsense that Luo Binghe spewed.
Shen Mingyu and Shen Yongrui were fraternal twins, a girl and boy. They both took after Shen Yuan more in looks, but shared Luo Binghe’s curly hair, something that Shen Yuan was extremely pleased with. The two were doted on and spoiled endlessly, beloved by their parents and people, who were happy to have an actual heir at last.
When the children were 4, Luo Binghe started to get restless, asking for more.
Thus began their newfound hobby of breaking into Baby Dimensions and kidnapping children.
Well, to be more exact.
Thus began a series of excursions where they traveled to various baby dimensions to meet with the children there and get to know them. When they offered the opportunity to leave and come with them to their own world, each and every child jumped at the chance to leave, even knowing ahead of time that Luo Binghe wasn’t the father that sired them.
They didn’t do it too often. Not wanting to do the same thing as the original and forget about their children and spending time with them because they valued quantity. They made sure that each and every one of their children were loved, regardless of if they were created by them specifically.
Each new addition to their family brought joy to their lives. Shen Yuan truly couldn’t understand how Luo Bingge didn’t adore each of these wonderful beings that he helped create. Shen Yuan loved all of his children, and they were each a blessing.
Maybe Shen Yuan got a little ambitious, because he started to want the two that started it all. Luo Meiying and Luo Fang, the ones that almost could have had a loving father if only the readers hadn’t gotten bored of domesticity. Shen Yuan wanted them to have better. He had avoided taking them thus far because they were the children of the main and favored wives, but they had taken close to a dozen children without notice over the years.
Just like the rest of their siblings, Luo Meiying and Luo Fang agreed to join them.
However, this time they caught the attention of Luo Bingge. Turns out, Luo Bingge had been noticing his children dwindling, so he set extra protections around all of his remaining children so that he could catch the culprit and save his missing children, if they were still alive.
Luo Bingge came to demand his children back, but his children all claimed that they were Shen Yuan and Luo Bingmei’s children.
Bingge doesn’t actually have THAT many kids at this point in the timeline
SY was grossly overestimating how many kids LBG had in general
atm Bingge only had like 18 kids and Bingqiu stole 10 of them
Bingge does actually check on his kids when he can get away from his harem (which isn’t often)
this is yet another thing that the fake has stolen from him
even his own flesh and blood prefer an imposter over their own father
it really fucks Bingge up
plus side is that he figures out that Nice Shizun is actually named Shen Yuan
then he finds his own SY
And he makes sure that the rest of his kids won’t get stolen by abolishing the baby dimensions and bringing the kids out
SY becomes their teacher
Bingge believes in adopted parent relationships so he doesn’t try to take his kids back, but he does fall into a weird shared custody agreement with Bingqiu
Bingge makes harming his children punishable by death, and his wives are NOT exempt from this. Little Palace Mistress finds this out the hard way when she tries to eliminate one of Bingge’s daughters and gets publicly executed.
Bingge overhauls the harem in general, because now he has got his priorities in order. Which are railing his kid’s teacher, and also taking care of his kids because he doesn’t want them to get taken from him and lose out on them.
Bingge stops expanding his harem and even downsizes it, plus he works out something other than dual cultivation to control Xin Mo because having sex is cutting into his time braiding his children’s hair. And also trying to sleep with their teacher.
Bingge finds being a dad a lot more fulfilling than being a harem master and emperor of the united realms, and also fucking his children’s teacher. That also fills him better.

Demon empress Su Xiyan, and prince Luo Binghe.
Au details below the cut :)
I have this au floating around in my head, where Su Xiyan survived childbirth and took up the role of demon empress after Tianlang-jun was sealed away, raising Binghe as the prince. The demons are unimpressed about this at first, but they soon discover that this human cultivator is orders of magnitude more ruthless than the missing emperor. They’re terrified and in awe of their new empress.
She likely uses her newfound power to get some revenge on HHP for what they did to her and Tianlang-jun. She raises Binghe with a strong base in both his demonic and spiritual cultivation, so he can one day be strong enough to find and rescue his father.
Possibly, she thinks that Binghe needs more human influences in his life: he’s being raised in the demon realm, surrounded by demons, with her as his only human influence. Reasonably, she doesn’t trust most cultivators with her son. But she does remember one man she knew, who is fascinated rather than repulsed by demons. So she employs Shen Yuan to be Binghe’s teacher. Binghe is raised by entirely demons plus the two least normal humans there are. He knows nothing about what humans are actually like 😂 (but he does still get to have a shizun to be obsessed with!)
But I love the idea of Tianlang-jun, trapped and miserable and believing that his beloved betrayed him. Until one day a heavenly demon teenager who looks EXACTLY like her shows up and is ecstatic to find and save him.
tldr: this is the “give binghe a happy childhood” au!

SV Game of Thrones AU where Shen Yuan transmigrates into a character who is basically Joffrey Lannister.
Luo Binghe is a mix of all the Stark kids, but mostly Sansa Stark and Jon Snow. Su Xiyan and Tianlang Jun had a Rhaegar-and-Lyanna thing going on, and Binghe's adopted mother was Su Xiyan's older cousin, who took him in after the fact and had him legitimized because she was the only remaining heir and had no other kids.
In the original story, King Shen Qingqiu (Jiu) develops a suspicion about Luo Binghe's heritage and, being just as paranoid about Heavenly Demons as Robert Baratheon was about Targaryens, invites the Luo family to come to court. Ostensibly so that Binghe can be playmates with the king's son and heir (Shen Yuan). Binghe's mom is horribly worried that they've been found out, but has not choice but to accept the invitation.
Of course, OG Prince Shen Yuan was a rotten little sadist who made it his life's mission to torment Luo Binghe, was eventually revealed to be the bastard spawn of Queen Qiu Haitang and her own brother, executed Binghe's mom for alleged treason, is party to the slaughter of the noble Liu family, and is eventually gruesomely assassinated at his own wedding feast.
Shen Yuan himself doesn't want to torment Binghe, or slaughter anyone, start any wars, or of course be gruesomely assassinated at his own wedding feast. He would much rather live his cushy life as a crown prince, figure out how to administrate a kingdom properly and also implement some better waste management practices to reduce the awful city stench (like, Shen Yuan was never terribly interested in plumbing in his first life but he is absolutely invested in the subject now.)
The problem is that the System absolutely demands that there be a war and certain other plot points in order to propel Luo Binghe into some sort of narrative destiny. Shen Yuan's not sure why because the last time he checked, the book series was stalled with Luo Binghe seemingly dead, and the television series had basically rendered everything he'd done pointless by the end, but regardless the System won't just let him peacefully evade all the drama and spare Luo Binghe all the suffering.
Boo.
Plus there's the concerning matter of the Northern Demon King awakening and mustering armies to conquer the south (and getting derailed by the beleaguered quartermaster of the Nightswatch, who keeps wondering when the fuck the actual protagonist is going to show up to handle the increasingly concerning plot points, because Binghe should have been exiled by now...?), Zhuzhi Lang resurrecting his uncle (as a dragon?!) across the Narrow Sea, and the Qiu family plotting the murder of the king and a coup to seize power...
(Also featuring: Yue Qingyuan as the parts of Jaime Lannister's character not currently owned by Qiu Jianluo, the Huan Hua Palace Master as a Littlefinger proxy, Meng Mo as Bloodraven, and many more!)

bingqiu? 🥺 can we have some bingqiu?
certainly! take the first chapter of my Brave AU, written for @miaoqing. :)
---
When Luo Binghe was a child, his favorite bedtime story had been his mother’s account of the day he was born.
Oddly enough, the story did not begin with his mother, Su Xiyan, or her romance with Luo Binghe’s emperor-father. For as long as Su Xiyan told it, the tale of Luo Binghe’s birth began on the coldest morning of the last Dog year, when a physician’s son went out to catch fish at the banks of the Luo River. He caught one fish, and then another; and just as he was about to cast his line further from the shore, a small pleasure boat rounded a bend upstream and collided with a knot of drifting ice floes.
The boy stood and watched the boat for a while, waiting for someone to come out and free its prow from the ice. But nothing seemed to be moving on board, and no one answered when the boy called out from his little fishing boat; and at last, he punted himself back to shore and ran to fetch his father, afraid that the boat’s passengers had frozen to death during the night.
“And they found Mother on the boat,” the little Luo Binghe would say, when Su Xiyan reached this part of the tale. “What happened next?”
“Shen-yishi and his son carried me back to Physician Shen’s clinic,” his mother replied, holding her son close under the covers: for though the story of his birth had always been a happy one for Binghe, she knew full well how close she had come to losing him that day. “I had not eaten for a day and a half, and all I had to drink was the icy water of the Luochuan—and after that cold night, I was too weak to keep my eyes open. Shen-yishi took me in and fed me, and gave me a tonic to staunch my bleeding; and late that afternoon, you were born.
“Shen-yishi put you in my arms, and I wept and clung to you until Shen Yuan—”
“Shen-yishi’s son, Shen Yuan! The one who saw our boat!”
“En, that’s right. I gave you to Shen Yuan, so that he could feed you.”
“This son remembers. Mother drank something that could hurt a heavenly demon baby, because that was the only way to keep me safe from the bad people who were trying to kill Fuqin,” Luo Binghe said wisely, “But the poison was making you sick, too, so Yuan-gege fed me goat’s milk until you got better.”
“Am I telling this story, or are you?” Empress Su demanded, tickling her son until he squealed with laughter. “Yes, he fed you. Later, he slept on a mat beside your cradle, and he got up to feed you whenever you cried; and then he brought you to me, so that I could sing to you and rock you back to sleep.”
At this, Luo Binghe curled into a ball and huddled closer to his mother.
“Mother was so brave,” he mumbled, yawning. “You were all alone, and Zhu-gege was missing, and you didn’t know where Father was, either.”
“I wasn’t brave. I was terrified,” Su Xiyan said, stroking Luo Binghe’s curly head. “But there was no threat in this world or the next that I would not have fought against for you.”
Luo Binghe nodded sleepily.
“What happened next?” he murmured.
“Everything was all right for a while: and then your zuiyin came out, when you were three days old. Shen Yuan knew what it was from the start—and I was sure he would tell Shen-yishi, and that he would cast us out,” his mother told him. “But when Shen Yuan saw the mark, he took you to the window and let the sun shine on your face; and then he turned to me, and said—”
“This is Luo Binghe!” Luo Binghe cheered, all weariness forgotten as he leaped out of his nest of quilts like an overexcited puppy. “And that’s how I got my name. Before that, Muhou just called me Baobao.”
“Yes, that’s how you got your name. And since my luck might have run out if the Luochuan had not carried us to Shen Yuan—or if there had been no ice that day, and we were swept past him to the next bend in the river—I decided then and there that you would be Luo Binghe, even if your father wanted to name you in the way of his clan and raise you up as a prince among demons.”
“And you got better and went to find Fuhuang, and he was heartbroken because he thought you’d left him. So you told him all about me, and that I was his little Baobao, too,” said Luo Binghe. “And then you freed him from Mount Bailu and said that you would leave him unless he got strong enough to protect me, because the bad people would want to capture me if they saw my zuiyin.”
“Your father was terribly fussy back then,” the Empress told him: though in truth, her husband had wept when she entered his prison under Mount Bailu, and asked through his tears if she had finally come to put him out of his misery. “He wouldn’t eat the healing herbs that Shen-yishi gave me, and nor would he touch the prey I hunted for him. So I dragged him back to Shen-yishi’s cottage to see you, and told him that I had been ready to give up my life for our son—and that if he couldn’t muster up the strength to fulfill his duties as a father, I would take you far away and never see him again.”
“And then Fuhuang knew that you never stopped loving him, and asked you to marry him,” Luo Binghe murmured, snuggling into his mother’s lap. “But Yuan-gege couldn’t come to Fuhuang’s palace with us, so we had to leave him and Shen-yishi behind.”
“We didn’t leave them behind, Binghe. Shen-yishi’s village needed him, and Shen Yuan had a shifu who was teaching him to cultivate. They belonged in the mortal realm: just as you and I belong here, with your silly father.”
Luo Binghe nodded and closed his eyes. “And that’s the end of the story,” he whispered.
And then, as he had done almost every evening for the past two years, he lifted his little voice and asked:
“Do you think I’ll ever see my Yuan-gege again, Mother?”
Su Xiyan kissed him softly on the brow, and repeated her answer from the night before.
“If the heavens will it, and you desire it—perhaps you will, my son.”

Concubine Shen Jiu AU
I just really really want to read a time traveling AU where Shen Jiu decides that he’s going to be a concubine instead of going (back) to Cang Qiong and how better to hide than being a concubine of some rich lord who’s not allowed out of the house without being covered and guarded by a dozen guards?
It’s turns out that he really enjoys this kind of lifestyle. The rich lord he's caught himself for as a husband spoils and pampers him very well and he’s the only concubine in the estate. It also helps that he’s the only lover of the rich lord period. He doesn't have to content with any officials wives and his husband's parents are surprisingly open minded, like him, and seem to have no plans on pushing proper ladies onto his husband to marry??
Turns out that the husband he's caught himself? Well, husband's father is the younger brother of the reigning emperor... ahahaha so that's how Shen Jiu never realized or recognized his husband's true status. He just thought he married a rich, somewhat lazy, nobleman with just enough influence and power in the imperial government to make any cultivator hesitate to annoy. You know, just in case anyone else also time traveled and really want to drag him back to Cang Qiong cough Yue Qingyuan.
-o-o-o-o-
As delighted as Shen Yuan had been about his transmigration journey so far - such as the fact that he more or less kept his name. Well, mostly kept his name since it's now officially Long Shenyuan - which is cheesy as fuck that the Long surname represents the heavenly dragon. But! He can insist on all his friends and family to just call him Shenyuan. (In Chinese, to call someone by only their first name is a very intimate thing.)
He has no plans on marrying a proper lady because the emperor - his fucking paranoid son of a bitch of an uncle - still has no sons, only dozens of daughters, so just in case, it's better that he and his father avoid having children any time soon least people start having wrong ideas about overthrowing the current emperor for another branch of the family... especially one that already has sons.
Luckily, his parents are on the same page - they were the ones to push him to get a male concubine or two and project the image of a cutsleeve. His father once had two concubines but both concubines died in the plague that rocked through the imperial city a decade ago; no children or born from either concubines. Shen Yuan's mother, his father's official wife.
Shenyuan's mom: You should pretend to be an idiot who thinks with your dick and falls for a male beauty. Shen Yuan: Sure can do. Better to pretend to be gay than end up getting executed for trumped up charges of trying to usurp the throne.
Shen Yuan: picks up a beautiful male literally off the streets because he looks kind of like the Shen Qingqiu merch he had in his previous life Shen Yuan: starts sticking like a burr to his new concubine Shenyuan's mom: NOT LIKE THAT Shen Yuan: wat- Shenyuan's mom: wait, actually I like this guy. He's got more brains and political acumen than my son
And that's the meet-cute story of how future emperor Long Shenyuan picked up his future political advisor and male Empress.
[More in the #Shen Jiu time travels and decides to hide from cang qiong by becoming a concubine AU]

Beast Taming Peak AU Pt 3
Part 1 | Part 2
Extra notes:
in this au, shen yuan did not read PIDW and therefore doesn't really learn about Airplane being the author, as he wouldn't recognize the handle and stuff like that.
I'm on the fence on whether or not Airplane would tell him, based on whether or not shen yuan could realize that he was living in a stupid papapa world.
If his obliviousness is too powerful, then he wouldn't notice that this is a papapa world, and therefore would love PIDW. I think Airplane would tell him in this circumstance. This increases the starry eyed infatuation (LMAO), increases the drama of him realizing that Shang Qinghua wasn't who he thought he was (lol he was a shitty papapa author, not a worldbuilding genius), and also the drama of Airplane's death. Nothing to rock your world like the death of its god. I do like this arc of realizing your first love was not ideal as you mature.
If he does realize that these are shitty papapa plot devices, then he'd hate PIDW and Airplane would never tell him lol. in this version, SY learns he's the author at the same time he learns that Airplane is the consort of Mobei Jun. HILARIOUS.
so PIDW in this verse is about a heavenly demon cuckoo hybrid, where Binghe seems human at first because he's being raised around humans and therefore his cuckoo blood mimics the humans, rather than because he's half human.
The cuckoo powers makes him really good at cold reading ladies and then acting out their personal fantasies
In the lore of this universe, SY is Airplane's soulmate. That's why he gets sucked into PIDW when he dies, not because of his blackpowder fan status lol.
His system is weaker and actually tied to Shang Qinghua, not Luo Binghe, and it's dormant when Airplane is off in the demon realm. I'd imagine that this new character, Peak Lord Shen Yuan, getting forced into the plot due to soulmate bullshit (the system is tired!!!) actually gives Shang Qinghua a lot more leeway from his system, leading him to inducting Luo Binghe on An Ding instead of letting him get abused on Qingjing like in PIDW.
Unfortunately, his author knowledge about cuckoo demons means that he subconsciously thinks of Binghe in IRL cuckoo-y ways, and that's why Binghe is a bird hybrid instead of a human when Shen Yuan first gets him.
yes, airplane finally gets to raise Binghe like a son. In fact, Binghe’s kind of like a Cumplane brainchild. Just like he is in SVSSS. How horrifying.
Binghe can't escape the scum villain shizun tho. As Binghe gets more and more bird traits, he becomes less a disciple and more like a peak freak, to Shang Qinghua's distress. Imagine getting bullied by AN DING of all peaks! How embarrassing. Shang Qinghua is mourning for his protagonist, maybe he shouldn’t have tried to save him from SJ…
Rather than pushing him into the abyss, the system is alright with Shang Qinghua just abandoning Binghe for the ice realm instead.
MBJ fake kills SQH to ensure their bases are all covered (on both sides, not only ensuring that they think he's dead, but also making it so that Shang Qinghua can't return bc his collusion with demons was outed), but only Binghe got close enough to see the theatrics.
Yes, Binghe's flashback and subsequent investigation is like this world's version of the Qiu Haitang trial arc. Binghe was not abused in transport, nor by Airplane (well, other than the faking death thing). he went nonverbal because he thought his shizun got merc-d by demons LOL and a bit of exclusion by other disciples for being a parrot
Without his shizun, and with these bird traits, his place on the peak became uncertain, so they gave him to the beast taming peak lol.
I imagine he despises Shang Qinghua after the reveal. "I have no Shizun, only Shen Yuan" lol He's grateful that Shang Qinghua's fake death at least got him on Shen Yuan's peak tho lol
airplane is the one who knew parrots threw up to show attraction lol so him
why does Luo Binghe fall in love with kind Beast Peak Shizun but not with Shang Qinghua, who was also a powerful cultivator who accepted him as a cuckoo and was good to him?
Shang Qinghua is cursed with the expectations of the author, unfortunately.
Shen Yuan, with zero experience with PIDW, has no clue Binghe is even the protagonist.
Shang Qinghua wrote Binghe to suffer and then become a dissatisfied alpha male with hundreds of wives. you can see the problem there lol
In this AU, Shen Yuan in this AU manages to swerve the awkward "go flirt with Yingying" phase or the creepiness of hugging a kid's golden thigh, but Shang Qinghua can't say the same lol. Expectations of greatness lay heavy, especially on a cuckoo.
the original binghe has a lot of cuckoo imagery already.
the false jade pendant being a metaphor, not only for the fake shizun being more meaningful to him than the original goods.
But also that he's pretending to be a jade-faced cultivator in this nest of baby cultivators, while actually being a demon in sheep's clothing.
i love the fact that the fake jade also represents his adopted mother (not his "real" mother but still just as meaningful). Wouldn't that be lessened by making her a bio mom? In the end, she's a fellow cuckoo demon who realized a baby cuckoo needed a nest after cuckoo su xiyan died.
cuckoos also never meet their real parents. They only ever know their foster parent. I think that's pretty poignant, especially in regards to Binghe.
In this AU Su Xiyan adopted human cultivator culture but fell in love with Tianlang Jun. I don’t think anybody knew she was a cuckoo.
im unsure of the fate of heavenly demons or tianlang jun in this au, or if he's even binghe's father. Though I'd imagine changelings are an bandaid solution to the lack of Heavenly Demons problem.
If you couldn’t already tell, the Heavenly Demon aspect to Luo Binghe is less prominent because he doesn’t actually have innate heavenly demon powers. He’s a cuckoo mimicking heavenly demon powers.
Instead of a seal, SU Xiyan placed some sort of birthright detector on him to ensure that maybe Tianlang Jun or Zhuzhi Lang could learn that he was their son when it was safer. This was a gamble based on the idea that TLJ would survive or escape and recover in time to be able to parent for Binghe’s adolescence, which obviously didn’t pan out.
The birthright acts with a secondary purpose. Because Binghe would probably be adopted by a weak demon/human, that means he wouldn’t have any connection to Heavenly Demon culture/powers. Unacceptable for a cuckoo mom. So the birthright is there to make people think he’s a heavenly demon, therefore molding him to have Heavenly Demon powers. So it’d be first activated in any fight against a sufficiently powerful demon as a defense mechanism. I’m still torn on whether or not his birthright activated and is known on the Peaks in this AU or if Shen Yuan discovers that he’s heavenly demon through SQH’s notes and keeps it a secret.
The first probably means SY is the one to save him, which is more romantic. The second means that their relationship has more secrets, which is more illicit.
A lot of inexplicable monsters in legends are actually the result of cuckoos getting ostracized and then gossiped about. Like imagine if in MDZS, Wei Wuxian was a cuckoo. When he became the Yiling Laozu, he’d actually shift over time to look and have the powers of his hideous, scam portraits. XD
Part of the exclusion towards cuckoos is that cuckoos are a weird form of magical creature where ALL children are born as cuckoos. There’s no “hybrid” “half demon half cuckoo,” just full cuckoo. I’m also debating if this is a chance thing. Like 1 in 4 children will be a cuckoo while the other 3 will be full heavenly demons. This will contribute to the “raising somebody else’s child” myth and the “cuckoo chicks pushing real eggs out of the nest” imagery.
The first makes Xiyan not telling TLJ more sensible. Demon culture is finicky about line of succession. The second is more tragic. Like maybe she was cut off before she could do so or maybe she didn’t trust TLJ as much as he thought she did.
cuckoos craving acceptance but constantly putting up a mask. now that's people pleaser feels. T-T but that's also what being a student is like. you're mimicking those around you and molding yourself to those expectations.
my experiences with neurodivergence and masking probably created A LOT of this AU. Once again tracking with the idea that Shizun is the authority figure in our life we wished we had, he's like the perfect ideal of one learning how to accommodate you.
Also fascinating considering the tumblr theory that changelings myths are actually explanations for neurodivergent children. Also echolalia and parrots. Also the petplay/getting condescended to aspect of being neurodivergent… hmm how psychosexual

RE: your post about Binghe and Shang Qinghua's not-relationship: I keep thinking about how funny it would be if back in Binghe's disciple days he accidentally overheard Shang Qinghua talking to himself and referring to Binghe as his son. Like if Shang Qinghua is just living his life, assuming Binghe barely knows he exists, then one day the protagonist ambushes him and is like "are you actually my father???"
This actually made me laugh aloud. I love it. I keep seeing "Shang Qinghua raises Luo Binghe" AUs and wondering, "Did I contribute to the popularity of this at all?"
I mean, these AUs are great and I love them, they're fun, but it did make me wonder how many people (who haven't read SVSSS) are out there with the mistaken impression that Shang Qinghua and Luo Binghe have anything resembling a direct relationship with each other, much less any kind of parent-child relationship. The uncle-nephew relationship in PINTWILF is so heavily, heavily AU.
But Luo Binghe mistakenly thinking that Shang Qinghua is his father is so fucking funny. He just confronts this guy he thinks is a total fucking deadbeat like, "Hey, I'm your bastard child!" And for story purposes, this must be done in such a way that Shang Qinghua cannot squirm out of it, possibly in front of other people.
Shen Qingqiu (Shen Yuan): "WHAT."
(This is how the transmigrators get outed to each other.)
Maybe Shang Qinghua gets tricked into revealing that he actually knows information like Luo Binghe's hometown and Luo Binghe's washerwoman mother's name? So everyone is like, "Oh, yeah, he's definitely the father trying to wiggle out of his responsibilities. He abandoned the pregnant mother of his child. Shame on you." Yue Qingyuan's disapproval is super uncomfortable.
So, Shang Qinghua is forced (practically physically forced) to run with it and even Mobei-Jun gets taken in by the story. Though Mobei-Jun is thinking, "When did Shang Qinghua fuck a Heavenly Demon??? What Heavenly Demon was still around for him to fuck??? Did Tianlang-Jun's sister have another kid or something???"
But, like, Binghe dislikes and resents him for most of the story, probably. Like, "I'll show you for abandoning me!!!" Every friendly gesture Shang Qinghua tries to make in Binghe's direction (so that he doesn't later get all of his limbs chopped off by a Demon Emperor) is met by an angry teenager prepared to bite off his fingers if Shang Qinghua tries to pat his head. (Shizun only!!!)
And then the Heavenly Demon reveal happens and Tianlang-Jun shows up eventually, so Shang Qinghua is like, "AHA! HERE'S THE REAL DEADBEAT DAD!!!" And Tianlang-Jun is like, "Wait, what?" and Shang Qinghua is like, "Yeah, I have... no idea how this happened. Fuck you, Cucumber Bro, you should have backed me up."

To Inure
Forgot to cross post this here too but this was for the @mxtxexchange for CheckersXIV
bingqiu, ~20k, rated T, 5 chapters, completed
Hanahaki Disease AU, angst with happy ending, shen twins au, sick fic, language of flowers, blood
There are many ways to say I love you. -- Luo Binghe has been sick for years. His only hope is to make Shen Yuan fall in love with him completely.
It started with a seedling, an ache, resting somewhere deep within Luo Binghe’s chest, somewhere between his ribs and heart. There was no reason for concern because it was beating a tandem that sang Shizun’s name.
He was far too kind, his Shizun, who had no reason to take time out of his busy life teaching the four arts to the young and rich children in the palace to also take time for the  servant children. In his free time, he would travel to join the young of the cooks and cleaners, the gardeners and washers, to teach them reading and writing. Even Luo Binghe, son of a lowly washerwoman, who upon her passing had taken over her duties, was certainly included.
Luo Binghe was blessed to be part of his classes and to learn from his vast well of knowledge, but most importantly, all the little moments he got to steal from Shizun. Long after their lessons, he would linger on Luo Binghe’s person— the feel of his delicate hand over his own as Luo Binghe was led to write lines of poetry with the finest script; the cadence of his smooth voice as he read in a cool melody was rivaled only by his beautiful qin music. He was an elegant crane of unreachable beauty, an seemingly untouchable immortal who was so gentile as to lean over from his heavenly throne and trod upon the mortal soil, dirtying the hems of his robes to pass his knowledge onto them.

On her own right wrist is the name of her beloved, in a pale, washed-out grey; on the left is the name of her own master, in deep, deep black. Her beloved was born without names on his wrist, as was expected of the Heavenly Demon bloodline, and yet her own son has inherited such a human trait from her. She can only wonder which one is which, for her small son. Will Shen Yuan be the one who rips her son’s heart out of his chest, or will it be Luo Binghe? Who will grind her son down into shards if given the chance, who will guard his very being like a precious gem?

#omg imagine sy prescribing they papapa to fix their problems#i love the idea of Targaryens being shitty cultivators#the doom of valyria was them pissing off a heavenly demon and him destroying them till they had to leave rhe continent#so what you are saying is that all magical creatures in westeros are not native and are invasive spieces#the maesters of old town thinking theyve got the best center of knowledge in all the world#sy just trouncing them with his modern + cultivation knowledge:#what like it's hard#imagine if one of the peak lords was originally from westeros#the others are like wow look at these savages that don't know what cultivation is#the westeros peak lord sweats via @caranmerya
Nah, I think it would be funnier if the Targ ancestors were such shitty cultivators that they messed with the wrong stuff and destroyed their family grounds. You know, kind of foreshadowing the Tragedy of Summerhall that killed  Aegon V.
Imagine that conversation though when Shen Yuan (somehow) discovers that).
Shen Yuan: What do you mean the Targaryen's didn't leave Valyria because of some volcano? Were they running away from an enemy? Political sabotage from a rival cultivator family? In house backstabbing for the throne? That immortal cultivator artifact that reveals the Targ backstory: No. They mixed up salt with sugar and the ritual went kaboom. With no face left in the imperial courts, so ashamed of the cause of their family downfall, they had no choice but to find a new place to live and restart. Shen Yuan: ...
Tumblr media
It would be fucking hilarious if Wu Yanzi was VERY DISTANTLY related to the Targs.
Once Shen Yuan gets a dragon... all bets are off. Tywin's got gold, influence, and now the perfect excuse to get that throne officially now.
Tywin: Marrying your daughter to a prince to get a grandson on the throne is so last year. Tywin: Time to conquer the country to give to my son as his next birthday present~
[More in #Shen Yuan is born as Tywin Lannister's eldest son AU]
Thought I had written this idea up before but apparently I didn't. (Because I didn't have much of a plot/set up to jazz it up I suppose?) But I remembered the worldbuilding element again when Shiro on discord was talking about the #Shen Yuan is born as Tywin Lannister's eldest son AU:
Tumblr media
Okay so on Earth, the "North" can be referencing Canada, Russia, Scandinavian land and more. It's huge. More importantly, the planet is ROUND (no flat earthers on my timeline thank you very much).
We know one side of Mobei Jun's Northern Empire is Luo Binghe's Southern Demon Empire. What happens when Mobei Jun crosses the North Pole of his territory to the other side of the globe? What lands are those?
Hm... Westeros? >.>
So let's toss it into Shen Yuan is born as Tywin Lannister's eldest son AU. The Shen Qingqiu body died in an explosion and the Sun and Moon seeds (if that's the wrong name, well it's midnight here and I'm sleepy) kind of did its thing but not really and Shen Yuan gets an actual human body... in Joanna Lannister's womb. Maybe she ate some weird new plant that a merchant was introducing to the Westerland lord in hopes of getting a trade deal going with the very wealthy Casterly Rock which SURELY would love exotic plants to eat.
Anyways, this is all to say that Luo Binghe's hunt for his shizun won't have to involve going to other dimensions now. Mobei Jun calls up his demon overlord emperor to help the North solve a growing problem with some weird monsters cropping up in its most remote territory (aka the white walkers). Lo and behold, Luo Binghe learns of another human kingdom.
Plus with this twist to PIDW geography, Cang Qiong can join in the ride and fun of discovering a blonde hair green eyed Shen Qingqiu.
Oh and Jiu-Finger lurking in the back with a little dagger ready to stab Yue Qingyuan of course.
Welcome to live time plotting and editing where various details written in previous posts get chucked out of the window

If Shen Yuan did a "crash landing onto you" into SVSSS...
Just imagine all the wild misconceptions here:
Firstly, Shen Yuan is a sickly person, so he wouldn't be paragliding. He would be safely seated in a helicopter. But since there needs to be some sort of extreme sports element... let's make him the pilot. Yes, this Shen Yuan is licensed to fly helicopters.
Helicopters are loud. Shen Yuan's helicopter, in particularly, starts falling through the air - some sort of engine malfunction. The engine is smoking, the equipment is ratting and screaming...
Shen Yuan thinks he's going to die.
Except he and his helicopter all are magically transporting into another world aka SVSSS cultivation setting... but still falling through the air. He gets rescued by a cultivator flying on a sword because the cultivator nearly got skewered by the helicopter blades and thus noticed Shen Yuan falling out of the helicopter.
Anyways, to this world that has no technology... they see the smoke and loud screeching noises of the machine flying through the air... that's definitely a dragon, they think. It's kind of small for a dragon and oddly shaped... so it's probably just the dragon's head. A dragon head falling through the air like it's been wounded, and Shen Yuan is a (sickly) son of heaven that has crashed into the mortal realm due to some, no doubt, nefarious plot from the heavenly court.
Welcome Son of Heaven Shen Yuan to SVSSS where every single word you say in reference to modern China and your precious lifestyle is wildly misunderstood as the Heavenly Courts and immortal culture.
People think that Shen Yuan is just trying (and failing) to hide his imperial status because there is no merchant father with the ability to influence and control the economies of dozens of countries at once or consider salt as one of the cheapest ingredients in the kitchen! Always have ice available, even in the summer??!! Hot damn that's some royalty shit. Not aware of how to dress himself? Cool, clearly Shen Yuan is used to having servants dressing him, another sign of being royalty. Only male servants allowed in the bedroom? That sounds like eunuchs - royalty. Got hospitalized from food poisoning - must be some political assassination attempt evidently. Fresh fruits available all year, even ones that are worth their weight in gold and more? Tributes from vassal states yep.

I just thought of a scenario for the son of Heaven!SY au
When SY finally meets SQH and they start talking in English, people start to think that SQH is also from the heavenly realm but maybe he was kicked out? Although this does start to make people focus more on SQH and they realize that he knows more then he should. A long lost artifact? He knows that exact location and how to use it. Need a certain item from the demon world? Here you go, I had it ordered with express delivery. Is there a poison that no one knows that cure for? I know that exact plant and how to ingest it so you don’t actually die from it too.
If SY gets to be a heavenly son then SQH gets to finally be acknowledged as god!!
[Hey just letting you know that I see your other ask and it's sitting in my draft folder with a bunch of other asks because I might turn it into a drabble...]
Seeing the way that Shang Qinghua flinches from Shen Yuan and the way that Shen Yuan bosses Shang Qinghua around so easily when Shen Yuan doesn't boss anyone else around like that - Okay, the third young master of the Shen Family bosses people, but he's more polite, wording his demands as a very kind request while with Shang Qinghua, Shen Yuan is just flat out rude, mocking, scoffing, etc. as one does with servants and slaves...
Anyways! Back to what I was trying to say before I went on a tangent! If Shen Yuan is the son of the Heavenly Emperor and he's immediately connected to Shang Qinghua like not long lost friends, but more like capitalistic evil boss and overworked employee master and servant... Shang Qinghua is clearly a former servant who served the Heavenly Family clearly!
And since it's already been decided that Shen Yuan's friend group and lover is from Shen Jiu's teacher's generation meaning the Shang Qinghua that Shen Yuan meets is a young teenager Shang Qinghua...
Clearly Shang Qinghua was sent to the mortal realm AFTER Shen Yuan went missing. Either as punishment or to find their young master, it doesn't matter.
So basically Shang Qinghua is a heavenly janitor. *smirks*
(And then Cang Qiong wonders how many more of Shen Yuan's servants are running around the mortal realm as mortals.)

Shit would be real funny if in the son of heaven au Shen Yuan looked SO similar to Shen Jiu, people would be like, Shen Jiu must be either a reincarnated member of the royal family of heaven or a half god half mortal son of one!
The even funnier thing is that Shen Yuan doesn't even know for sure if Shen Jiu isn't his son because Shen Yuan had a couple papapa pollen accidents where he did sleep with some females. What's not to say that those women didn't get pregnant?
(It should be noted that Shen Yuan doesn't realize just who exactly Shen Jiu is.)
When Shen Jiu said he wanted a father to fall from the sky - a play on the saying that "a pie from the sky" - he didn't think it would come true literally. The fact that he's 100% mortal rather than half god and half mortal is... disappointing but not surprising. He suppose it's because his father was in mortal form when he was conceived.
But either way, he's excited! He's of noble birth and no one has the right to mock his background because he's the most noble of all the people. Take that, Shi Wu!

Mu Qingfang aka Shen Yuan upon seeing some poor guy's arm falling off: have you ever tried getting fucked by a heavenly demon? dual cultivation with a heavenly demon would most likely solve that issue.
Tianlang Jun, the man with a plant body that hates demonic energy but also knows that he's got some sort of son alive and running around: ...tell me more.
Shen Yuan, who's thinking about rumors about how the former demonic emperor Tianlang Jun is running around after somehow escaping his prison of being buried under a mountain and having zero awareness of what he's accidentally implying with this suggestion: Sure! Let me tell you about how heavenly demonic cum can cure-
Shen Yuan has a million regrets stemming from that day he decided to give advice unprompted.
[More in #shen yuan transmigrates into Mu Qingfang instead au]
Shen Yuan transmigrate as Mu Qingfang.
Shen Yuan to system: just because I spent more than half my life in a hospital doesn’t mean that I am in any way qualified to be a doctor!!!
Cang Qiong: oh. So we’ve been stressing out poor Mu-shidi so much that we caused him to go into a qi deviation so bad that he lost his memories. We also discovered just how dependent we are on him being in good health. Does this mean we shall learn how to improve and manage people’s workloads better and not be so reliant on an individual? Fuck no.
At least Shen yuan’s encyclopedia knowledge of the PIDW flora and fauna really comes in handy.
First order of busy: a general antidote that can counteract the papapa pollen.
Second order of business: forcing all the Cang Qiong sect memories to attend their annual appointments ON TIME.
(Watch Shen Yuan invent syringes and just walks around stabbing people with the pointy needle, injecting sedatives and then having his disciples cart the unconscious body to his peak for their checkup.
The biggest offender? Liu Qingge.)
